Omg You have been busy. K had his surgery and it went really well . I'm so glad. I kept worrying that they would not operate but after waiting 4 hours past the time K was starting to get nervous and so was I . He's doing ok. I took my knitting but could not concentrate so didn't do any for two days lol. K's son rang from Japan as he was also a nervous wreck. Being so far away really had an impact on him. So although I was supposed to go back home I'm not going to. I need to rejuvenate ha ha. A and T are going down instead and I will max out at home. . Yes it is cooler today which is a nice change.

Rejuvenate, Yes!! L and I both need to chill out today. He really hit a brick wall yesterday but to his credit after a few tears and a cuddle we got to work and school on time. Phew. It really hit me though how hard it is for him starting at an enormous school which none of his friends from his last school attend, trying to find which class he needs to go to and figure out what he needs to have with him for that class. I found out he is relying on courage alone to ask questions of complete strangers to get through each day. He finds his brother on campus now and then which helps but I hope he makes some new friends soon so he's not so alone. At least his Dad is back from the course in Auckland so that will help.

Yes it is hard for some children starting at Junior high or High School. M12 is helping a few of the children from J's School who started at Junior High this year. We have a good Community so that helps. If M said all the rooms have changed for her so it must be bedlam for the new Children. Good on him for asking for help though. M said if she sees someone standing there looking lost she always asks if they need help.

Good for her, I hope there's someone at L's school like that , too. I had planned a craft day yesterday but no such luck although the tiger diamond cross stitch is now up and looking good in the spare room. I'm trying to get an aran cardy done for the shop but almost 2 weeks into it and I haven't finished the 2nd front yet. Fingers crossed for the weekend.

I thought I’d have a craft day yesterday but I needed my very special vintage mother of pearl buttons. I had them sorted into a jar but I’ve put it somewhere safe - too safe, it turns out lol. Never mind, they’ll resurface at some stage. Instead I sorted through a few other buttons (yet another collection), read a book and did a little cross stitch.
I hope L has a good day at school today - it’s so hard starting somewhere new. Hopefully he will find someone like M to help him along, or some others who are also finding their feet and happy to find a new friend along the way.
I’m so glad K’s surgery went well and hope he recovers quickly. It has been such a worry for you, makerealbany.
Funny sort of day today - a Friday that feels like a Monday.

Those are lovely grizzly. I love them both. Great work.
Hi milliefiori. Know what you mean about misplaced Buttons ha ha. Spent yesterday with K . He is not doing so well at all. Hes going back to the Specialist on Tuesday. There seems to be so much pressure and if he bends his head down too quick , He's in trouble with blood pouring out of his nose. He is still deaf and very tired, I spent all day there and he got a few hours sleep. He just kept dozing off in the middle of a sentence. I'm still worried about him. I was going to stay the night but a friend came to visit from out of town so he stayed there the night, I did his washing but the stubborn man had cleaned his Apartment before I got there. It must have taken a lot out of him but he wont leave it for me to do. I got home at Midnight and the Water Delivery guys were still filling trucks at the Water Pump down the street. Those guys must be exhausted as well.
I thought I had finished all the slippers but I have a feeling more will be needed. I just hate the big needles now ha ha They feel so huge.

I saw a piece on the news the other night about the water trucks working 24/7. Pretty hard going but so would be not having water for a week as some people have apparently. I'm sorry K is still suffering, and hope it starts to improve soon. L goes back to his Mum's after school today so I won't know how things go till I see him next week. Sigh. Wish I could just switch the worry off. (About everything) LOL.

I can relate to that. I had a quiet day at home today. No children duties ha ha. Sorted out things, did some paperwork and baking. Spent the afternoon knitting and watching TV . It was too hot outside lol. I put the washing out the night before and it was all dry by 10. My grandson K Junior sent me pictures of himself playing in the snow. J9 was fascinated with all the beautiful ice statues of Pokémon Characters in Japan. Told me he is going there to spend time with his cousin ha ha.

Your temperatures are still quite high. We haven't been above 22 degrees in over a week, Much easier to work in than over 30. I finally finished the aran cardy, it took over 2 weeks and not done in time for shop yesterday morning. I've started another now, trying to build up stock before Easter. My best sales are around then with the change in seasons. Not so productive though if I take so long tom finish something. LOL.

I'm doing the last black pr of slippers I swear ha ha. Got one more to do and I've finished. Because it is such a hard colour to knit at night. I resorted to putting a marker before and after the purl stitch for the rib, Its so much easier. No counting or turning the darn knitting around. I motored thru that slipper tonight. I have to finish L's blue cardi next. Yes its cool in the morning than it heats up. I have to keep topping up the pond as the heat evaporates the water, Did I tell you I have 6 baby goldfish/ what a surprise. Children are delighted.

You haven't mentioned gold fish before so is the first lot of babies?
Darn computer has updated itself and now the email server is requesting a password. Grrr. I've tried all the combinations I usually use and not accepting any one of them. Home sick today with some bug so don't really want to spend my day trying to sort this out.

grizzly4 - 2020-02-13 09:29:00
9417

Can't say yesterday was the best day I've ever had but at least computer is sorted although it cost me an arm and a leg as usual to get someone in. In the middle of all that I. calls me to say he has just taken out a loan so that he can take up cart racing!!!!! After all the outlay for the ATV racing he moves on to something else. No discussion, no warning just does it. I don't know how we've lasted nearly 40 years to be honest, the money he has wasted over the years on cars and motorbikes. Happy Valentines me. Sigh.

Oh Hell naughty I . You have the patience of a saint girl. I would have rung his neck . 40 years is a very long time. Hope you got rid of that bug. Darn computers . I have given my daughter all the slippers lol. I had to buy a second hand Portacot. We gave two away a few years ago but I need one here for L 9 months now. Into all sorts but if you tell her No as shes about to touch a cabinet door etc, she looks at you , grins and crawls off ha ha. Shes very clever. So now I'm going to sew up some more cot quilts, etc. It will be a nice change. Happy Valentines Day Grizzly. Go out and buy yourself something nice. I dare you. Go on. xxxxx

I am home alone today, thank goodness, Trying to be civil with other people in the house is exhausting. What a waste of a weekend. I've just heard the Lego I have ordered for I's birthday has arrived in the shop. Guess who I don't think deserves it right now? Grrr. I'd cancel it but I know I would regret it later.

grizzly4 - 2020-02-16 09:47:00

Grrrrr grizzly, men can be idiots, especially when it comes to their toys. Once they get to a certain age they seem to get the same mind-bedazzlement over toys that they had over other things when they were younger, if you know what I mean. And they just can’t work out why we’re upset or continue to be upset.
Wish I lived closer cos what you need is a Girls’ Day Out - lunch, movie, shopping, lots of laughs and the freedom to vent as much as you want without worrying that you’ll regret what you’ve said later.
Sending you hugs.

9422

Yep, I know what you mean, millefiori. LOL. A girl's day out would be great, wouldn't it? I've just realised I don't have a group of friends to do that with anymore...… has just gradually worked out that way. I'll have to talk to the one friend left from the group and see what we can do about that, because I think she's in the same boat. We get too busy. Sigh.

I got a surprise yesterday. My girls told me we were going to the Elton John Concert. They had got us VIP Seats. We had such a great night. What a brilliant Pianist and Entertainer. I heard some young girls saying 'Those Dudes that are backing him are really old'. So funny I felt right at home .I was concerned for him earlier as he looked sick and when he had to give up and call it a night but we had been rocking away for two hours. Having Pneumonia and performing was just silly. I know he did not want to let his fans down but he needs to look after himself.
Lovely VIP Bag with such groovy mementos. The girls did their usual Tee Shirt Purchases ha ha. We were sent all over the place to pick up our Giveaways as no one seemed to know where we were to go grrr. We complained to the Organisers later in writing lol. When you pay as much as the girls did you expect service. They brought home their Wine glasses as they had to pay $2 extra each for every plastic cup of Wine. I just had two soft drinks and told them to leave them in the bottles ha ha. Hundreds of people at Mt Smart Stadium and we got good parking 5 mins away.
Definitely a night to remember.
I'm all for Girls nights ha ha.

What a wonderful treat! Love your girls. I heard on the news he had been taken off stage but hadn't realised he had sung for 2 hours first. Wow, can't imaging doing that with pneumonia. Didn't he fly to and from NZ over a few days to attend the OSCARS? Wasn't that just last week, as well?
Hard drive on computer at work dead, can only afford to replace components not a whole computer so not sure how long it will last after that. Trying to get work done at home but it's hard with different passwords for things not saved on this one. Hopefully it will be back tomorrow.

grizzly4 - 2020-02-18 07:28:00
9425

Yes he did fly in and out of NZ, Sil and his Mum are disappointed they were booked for Thursday night and C is flying up from Wellington tomorrow. A had better get refunds because even though they are booked for January anything could happen. That's bad with the computer at work. I hope things start improving for you soon, What a lousy way to start the week.

Was going to be a messy week anyway finishing early each day to pick up L from school. However he is not well today so his Dad is staying with him and I can work normal hours. And get the computer back, Fingers crossed. Women's Group is playing minigolf this morning. LOL.

So hot to play mini golf even at 10am! We were melted puddles of women at the end. LOL. Taking forever to knit a cardy for the shop again. It was all I could to do a front band last night. I have the 3 pieces of Hogwarts from Harry Potter in Lego and I. is making it up for me. So far he has down the clock tower set. I love the detail inside including the Book of Secrets on the table which opens to read! I tried making some of the smaller pieces bit my fingers can't grip the small parts at all now.

OMG I don't know how working parents do it! Today L's school is closing at 1pm so have to leave work even earlier. 2 meetings and a group to get through before then. Phew.

Wasn't so bad in the end. S took half days leave so he could be with his son. I caught up on some work instead. Actually finished the cardy I've been working on and now attempting a matching beanie to have done before Monday morning. Fingers crossed.

Ive had my son and granddaughter staying. They have gone home now. This little Cottage was pretty busy ha ha. Toys everywhere. She is learning to walk so I had to remove obstacles. We got some much needed rain for the garden but its stopped. A couple of hours is better than no rain. Garden is perking up already. Lego is fascinating. I hope they put more of those Lego competitions on TV. J9 loved them. I'm undecided about what to knit next as am still in sewing mode ha ha

makerealbany - 2020-02-22 16:26:00

I started a new knitting project over the weekend. I've gone back to a white 4ply matinee jacket with a lacy pattern. A bit different from the 8ply arans I've been doing. There's 173 stitches on the needle for a start. LOL. We've had a bit of rain over 3 days during the past week so it's really helped the garden, thank goodness. Sped up the weeds too unfortunately but only took us half an hour to tidy up the front which is great now. After all the work last year it's lovely being back to normal maintenance. Next job will be clearing out some of the vege raised beds.

Gosh, I haven't made my marmalade or jam since we shifted a year ago. I made chocolate eclairs on Sunday for the first time in a couple of years. Time just seems to whizz by. Finished work earlier yesterday so I could have my hair cut so actually had time for an hours cross stitch before everyone else was home. Very pleasant. Late finishes for the rest of the week though as staff away.
