The lady arrived to give Mr K his wash (he doesn't like showers) and the plug for the basin disintegrated, so I had to pinch the one from the other bathroom, so now that doesn't have a plug. Hope I can get one at the Four Square or the $2 shop otherwise it will mean a trip to Kerikeri or the two bathrooms will have to share a plug till I can replace it. What a flipping nuisance! kuaka - 2016-04-18 13:03:00
lol kuaka, I've had that happen. You can buy 'universal' plugs from the supermarket. Good on you telling the girls what's what. They needed to hear it. Looks like the truck involved in a fatal accident up the road from us around morning tea time has been moved. The salvage truck used our road to turn around in. The road should reopen soon I would think. Awful though, two people killed. MrK is watching a cowboy movie on Netflix, so might just do some more to my C2C blanket :) kiwimade64 - 2016-04-18 13:42:00

Morning ladies, hope your grand-daughter is going to be okay Carolev and that you are feeling better. Well Mr K slept most of the night, woke at 2.15 needing the loo and again at 4 needing pain relief, but I managed to get some sleep in between disturbances so all up I had a reasonable night's sleep. I have a stack of washing to fold, I seemed to do nothing but washing yesterday and couldn't be bothered folding it once I'd brought it in off the line. Have more to do today. It seems never-ending. A friend brought me a lovely big pot of home made veg soup yesterday, it was so yummy I had two cups before tea, so I didn't have quite so much tea as I would normally. That's lunch taken care of for today and probably tomorrow. People are being amazing but it's all going over Mr Ks head. I did manage some crochet yesterday on my c2c blanket. I'm really loving the way it's turning out, $2 a ball merino from skeinz, I bought 18 balls (all they had left in this colour in their sale) so I'm doing 7 to determine the width, then I will use 4 balls so that it will be rectangular rather than square, and then the last 7 balls to finish it. I won't bother with a border. Not quite sure how big it will end up, probably not a single but bigger than a cot blanket. I wonder if I will get a visit today from the step-daughter. When she phoned on Sunday she asked if I was going to mah jong today and I said I wasn't, haven't been for weeks, and she said she was going to visit, so maybe now she knows I'll be home she won't bother. She might wait till the sister is up for the weekend and they will arrive en masse. I hope they don't show till Sunday when Paul should be here. I could do with his moral support right now. Right, time for breakfast then I must fold all that wretched washing, some of which will need ironing. I don't mind the ironing. I hate putting it away afterwards! Have a super day everyone. kuaka - 2016-04-19 08:44:00
Morning Your blanket sounds like it is going to be great Kuaka. Yum vege soup, was thinking yesterday it is getting to be the weather for soup so must make some later in the week. Off to make the kitty litter this am BiL has had a couple of biggish orders so need to keep the stock levels up. I usually put in 3 -4 part days a week helping him with it and that seems to be adequate at this stage but more orders are coming in so might have to do a bit more. Downloaded more patterns off ravelry yesterday so now need to go and get some more wool I think, I keep seeing something else I would like to try and so my "want-to-do" list is getting quite long again! Have a good day all jayemtoo - 2016-04-19 08:55:00
Morning Everyone. the Southern Motorway is a joke now. Theres delays every day and far too many crashes. There is a massive bypass going in at some stage. but it basically needs 2 more lanes to sort things out. We are both still full of this blasted cold, although we both slept better last night. So that's helping. I finished the squares last night, so will lay it out today and start putting it together. Fingers crossed the sisters don't come till Paul is there Kuaka.. That'll learn them lol Have to pop up the road, then back to my blanket.. Have a fab day all popeye333 - 2016-04-19 09:28:00
afternoon ladies :) been busy in dad's garden this morning. Another accident! Blimmen heck carole, I hope you granddaughter is OK. I saw the skid marks from yesterday's fatal accident and it gave me the heebie-jeebies. People are very kind aren't they. When mum was dying we had food for Africa, so many kind people baked and cooked for us. The cleaning agency kept the cleaner on for us so we could spend more time with mum and to keep the house tidy. I'm glad you were able to sleep more kuaka and enjoy the soup! I'm over salads, must be time for good old casseroles and soups :) Am going to pick my needles up and knit for this grandy this afternoon :) Tomorrow we are babysitting while daughter has her scan. happy knitting :) kiwimade64 - 2016-04-19 13:28:00

morning ladies :) Bones will heal in time carole, thank goodness it wasn't worse. Funny how you don't like 4ply, I'm beginning to love it. It does feel strange going from thicker plies to thin. Feel all fingers and thumbs. We're babysitting our grandy today while our daughter has her 12 week scan and we have a sheep to bring home for the freezer. Will take it to our butcher so it can hang in his chiller for a few days and he will cut it up for us. MrK used to cut them but there are some things I would rather just pay for now. Less fuss and snap frozen. I'll take my knitting with me but doubt somehow I will get the needles out. It's Nana and Poppa time :) happy knitting :) kiwimade64 - 2016-04-20 07:23:00
Morning Enjoy your granny visit Kiwimade and hope you don't get a step-daughter visit Kuaka. Have a good day All Edited by jayemtoo at 8:00 am, Wed 20 Apr jayemtoo - 2016-04-20 07:59:00
Morning ladies, I prefer 8ply but I don't mind 4ply for knitting and 3 and even 2 ply for crochet, wouldn't knit with 2 or 3 ply. No visit yesterday from the step-daughter (I refer to her as the witch - but not to Mr K) and as far as I'm concerned any "witch-free day" is a good day. Yesterday the friend who brought the soup came back with her partner and he managed to get the Safari started, so today I will see if it starts again, and leave it running for a while to charge the batteries, as tomorrow I've got it booked in for it's wof. Have a friend coming to babysit (or mansit as she calls it). She is also going to come while I go to pick Paul up from the airport - it's about a 20 minute drive. If she volunteers to visit today I will ask if she can stay so I can zap to the supermarket, but if she doesn't suggest coming I won't ask, I don't want to push my luck. I'll wait till he's asleep and zap out then. I bought a cute crochet pattern for a blanket yesterday online but just looking at it, for the larger size (38" x 30") it uses 1550 yards of 8ply. Sounds a lot to me. The smaller one (she calls a "lovey") is 20" x 15" and uses 425 yards. I'll see how I go. I don't have 1550 yards of any one colour in my stash so might make the small one for a start. Okay, breakfast and then face the day. Didn't sleep after 2am, Mr K did, his snoring kept me awake! Have a good day everyone. kuaka - 2016-04-20 08:22:00
Morning everyone.. A very late start, we spent too much time sitting and yakking after I did our insulins. Nice tho. Enjoy seeing your Grandie Kiwimade, I think my friend is about 8 weeks. Ive nearly half joined the blanket. Yesterday was 2 weeks since I started it, so that's not doing too bad. Have to cut MrP's hair this morning, Then the rest of the day is free.. Have a fab day all popeye333 - 2016-04-20 09:43:00

morning ladies :) Hope you were able to get into town yesterday kuaka, even those smaller trips out make the day go easier. We had a fab day yesterday with our grandy, she recognises and remembers us now and we both had lots of cuddles. She was upset when mum and dad left, wish they had snuck out like last time and then later in the afternoon MrK moved the car into the sunshine out of the shade and she cried and cried and cried as she thought the car was mummy and daddy coming home. Luckily 10 minutes later they were home but Poppa was the 'baddie' lol. We saw a photo of the 12 week scan, our new wee grandy is only 6cm long :). Am going back in a couple of weekends to give our daughter a hand with a spring clean. Won't let her move the heavy furniture and she wants to use my karcher window thingy-ma-jig. No knitting yesterday, my knitting bag didn't even make it out of the car lol. Will garden for a bit this morning then do some more this afternoon. Happy knitting :) kiwimade64 - 2016-04-21 07:12:00
Morning everyone I feel like I have plugged the window vac in prematurely.. We had condensation one morning, and its been plugged in since and not used lol Im very late today, and MrP isn't feeling great. So Hes staying in bed while I go do the shopping. He says he didn't sleep well, but its more like a 2 yr old sulk cos I told him we wont be going to Maccas until the holidays are over. So he can sulk, I spend less in the supermarket without him lol. Ive finished making the blanket and done one row of the border, the last row will be done later.. Have a fab day all popeye333 - 2016-04-21 09:16:00
Morning Had unusual banging and odd noises outside last night at about midnight couldn't work out what was happening until looked out and neighbours were removing their kitchen! Not sure why at that hour of the night but they are getting a new one so perhaps it was the only time they had and at least it wasn't someone hanging around outside as that of course is what I thought of first. Had to go to a meeting in Hastings last evening but when got there it was rather quiet and couldn't get in to the building finally someone else turned up and he rang someone to find that the meeting was postponed until next week, so had to turn around and head home again but not really concerned as free had a free evening to knit. The bolero Im doing is growing fast just hope it fits when finished. Found a pattern for baby bunting which I think would be ideal for niece who lives in Venice as she doesn't use a pram just carries baby in a sling, with having to get on and off ferries all the time and the bridges over so many canals. Looks like another visit to Skeinz is needed, thought my visit earlier in the week would do for a while but fingers itching to try the next pattern. Haven a good day all. jayemtoo - 2016-04-21 10:07:00
morning all. we have rain. so might go back to bed and knit. carolev - 2016-04-22 07:17:00
morning ladies :) According to the weather on the news last night, Matamata had 3.5mm of rain... we never saw it and was outside for most of the day lol. No rain here today carole, just cloudy. Am going to get more done outside, almost finished the autum clean up. Then I'll do some crochet or knitting later on. Happy knitting :) kiwimade64 - 2016-04-22 07:20:00
Morning Went to Skeinz and got the ideal wool for the baby sleeping bag on special. Just the right amount and a pretty green for half the usual price so very happy. Now have 3 wip so mustn't even think about any of the other things until I at least finish one of them. Also must get into garden while weather so good. jayemtoo - 2016-04-22 08:18:00
Morning everyone We were both awake and coughing our heads off around 5 am. So running a little late, as we both managed to get back to sleep for a while. MrP told me to go back to bed, but I wont cos I don't want my lungs compromised. So Ill potter today. Ive got washing on and it will go on the airer and the drier. Depending on how Im feeling I hope to watch some c2c tutorials and see how I go. That of course will mean another Blanket hahaha.. Have a fab day everyone popeye333 - 2016-04-22 09:33:00
Morning ladies, well I had a better night last night than I did the night before. Last night Mr K managed to knock a glass off the bedside cabinet and broke it, water and glass everywhere, the night before he started behaving quite weirdly at 2.30 in the morning, shouting, throwing things around, stacked up a pile of toilet rolls against the shower wall and put a pair of sandals on top, put his clothes on over his pjs and was just being extremely odd and aggressive, till he wore himself out and went back to bed at 4.00am by which time I was exhausted. Had a doctor and hospice nurse call yesterday at 9am and explained what had happened during the night (I'd actually forgotten they were coming) and they've changed his medication, so we will see how we go now. The nurse dropped the script into the chemist for me, so I went and collected the new meds when I got back from getting a WOF for the Safari (which it got). The chap at the garage said it's only done 240km since it's last wof and maybe I should think about relicensing it as a B licensed vehicle, much cheaper apparently and you don't need a wof but not supposed to go further than a 25km radius from home. Course I've just relicensed it for 4 months. Grrrr. Never mind. Will change it next time. When I got home the friend who babysat for me had put the washing out till she ran out of line space, but most of it was dry so I brought that in and put the rest out and got it all dry before tea so that was good. I weeded the veg garden yesterday afternoon while Mr K was asleep and dug it over, so today I will give it some fertiliser I think as the plants all seem to be looking a bit sad. I think they are starving. So after doing the dishes I might do the ironing and then feed the plants. What an exciting life I lead at the moment! Have a super day everyone. | 9375 | just come in for a cuppa :) My MrK reacted in a similar way kuaka when he was so ill a few years ago, it was the medication and once that was sorted, he was fine. The infection around his heart didn't help either. He still doesn't remember those three weeks and there are some things I just won't tell him. I've weeded the garden I wanted to weed, sprayed the weeds I can't/won't pull out, trimmed all the edges and mowed the lawn. Pretty impressed with myself lol but wanted to make the most of a calm, overcast day. Might sit and knit for a while. kiwimade64 - 2016-04-22 10:44:00
The reactions to some meds can be scary. when mum was in hospital I would ring her, and she got all paranoid, told me they were trying to kill her, so Id have to go up to calm her down. And then strangely on her last day, she kept trying to pull my bropthers and my hands together. The strength she had was amazing.. So Scotty told her Its alright Mum we are talking again.. she relaxed, but later in the day she was doing hand sewing, or the motions of it. A simple change in meds can do wonders. Ive done the washing. Sorted the wool out, with Missys Help. She got on a shelf in the pantry and pushed a tray a wool out.. the little baggage lol. Im going to watch some tutorials later. popeye333 - 2016-04-22 12:06:00
Well Gaolly me (as Guber would say on Andy Griffith) Ive finally learnt how to do the c2c blankets. https://trademe.tmcdn.co.nz/photoserver/full/472061797.jpg Now I REALLLY want to make another blanket lol. For those that have done them how many blocks did you do and what size did they end up at, roughly ??? popeye333 - 2016-04-22 17:45:00
Popeye, I just keep going till I've got it the width I want, then decrease - at both edges for a square or just at one edge for a rectangle until I've got it the length I want it, then decrease on both edges. kuaka - 2016-04-22 19:42:00
morning ladies :) I do the same as kuaka popeye. The one I'm making at the moment is for a single bed, might be a bit small but I can always do an edging I suppose. It's 130 blocks wide. Housework this morning and outside windows to do. Will finally get them done lol. Haven't been putting them off, just busy in the garden. Won't take long to do. I've decided to finish my C2c blanket before knitting for the baby as we will need it soon. The Furry One loves me crocheting it as he sleeps on it as I work. He is such a smooch, loves anything soft. The fog has lifted and we're going to have a lovely day, washing machine is finishing so will go hang out the washing. happy knitting :) kiwimade64 - 2016-04-23 07:45:00
Morning everyone Beautiful day here... Hoping my swap of yarn will arrive today Need to try and get some of my stuff sold.. I want to take MrP to the Classic Car museum in Hamilton for his Birthday. he doesn't know its there. And apparently it has a jukebox Café so that suits his era too.. So Ill do some listing later too. Rock bottom pries, Ill just cover my materials and be happy with that. Have a fab day everyone popeye333 - 2016-04-23 09:15:00
*does the happy dance* my Deramores order arrived today. I placed the order last Saturday evening so it has taken a week to arrive from the UK. Our postie was amazed lol... and the Furry One got his pats and cuddles from her. He loves it when parcels arrive lol. Now I must finish this C2C blanket, bought some gorgeous patterns as well as yarn/wool. kiwimade64 - 2016-04-23 12:29:00

morning ladies :) Well I just had to start knitting for the new baby lol and am almost finished a wee cardigan. Takes next to no time to knit :) I'm knitting that 'magic' yarn that makes the pretty patterns. MrK is fascinated by the way it knits up lol. I should have enough if I add another 100grams of a contrasting colour to knit another hoodie for our granddaughter. Apparently she loves the hoodie I knitted her and it's the only jumper she will wear. Bit tricky when it needs to be washed! We have a family doo to go to today and have to take a plate. MrK is busy organising that, since he retired he seems to have taken over my kitchen. Not complaining though! happy knitting :) kiwimade64 - 2016-04-24 08:31:00
Where do you buy the "magic yarn" from? I have seen son many garments made from it, they are really pretty grant151 - 2016-04-24 09:12:00
grant151, not sure but probably spotlight has it. Morning ladies, what a day I had yesterday. Mr K slept all Friday night but I couldn't sleep, thought I would never doze off. Yesterday had a text from the wicked step-daughter to say she was visiting, and even if he was asleep she was still coming. I sent her one back and said "understand this. You don't demand to come into my home, you come into my home if I allow it. If he is asleep you won't be visiting". No response and no visit. Picked Paul up from the airport and he was appalled when he saw his father, he couldn't believe how sick he looks and how much pain he is in at times. I asked him if he could see why I don't want him disturbed when he is asleep - I figure if he's asleep he's not in pain. Paul agreed totally. Midnight before I got to bed last night, and at 1am Mr K got up and decided he was going to make himself a cup of tea, which he did, he was in a foul mood, swearing and carrying on. Once he'd made the tea he decided he actually wanted drinking chocolate. So I made him a cup and got him back to the bedroom, but he refused to get into bed, just sat on it. In the end I went to bed, so I don't know what time he went to sleep, but he's still asleep now. Paul has told his sister in Australia that I am doing an amazing job and that it's really difficult. He keeps saying we don't let animals suffer like this. I agree. Wonder what the day will bring. Paul hopes to do a few jobs round the house today, and tomorrow we have 3 cubic metres of firewood coming so that will take us a while to shift and stack. My back hurts just thinking about it! Have a super day everyone. kuaka - 2016-04-24 09:21:00
Morning everyone, I pottered around yesterday... Made a sample of my Christmas tree ornament for the swap, but Im not totally happy with it, so have to figure out how to get it how I like it. I really want to do a blanket in c2c, and I don't think Ill settle till I have lol My wool arrived yesterday, its a bit smokey so had it outside airing out. Its not as bad this morning, but may pop it out again. pretty colours tho so im happy. I will put it in a container with a lemon soap which will help too. Have fun at the Family "doo" Kiwimade I hope all is ok at Kuakas, im pretty sure it will be cos Paul was due to arrive Last night Have a fab Day all popeye333 - 2016-04-24 09:22:00
Morning Nephews wife had little girl yesterday so must parcel up the girl's things I have ready, just hope the next "great" is a boy - the initial scan says it is but a bit early to be 100% sure - but have several boys things waiting as last couple didn't know until baby arrived as to what having. | 9389 | I think the hardest thing we do when our other halves are so ill is fending off family, kuaka. It's exhausting and trying to get it through to them that it is not always possible to visit. And when they do, to keep the noise down! Am glad Paul is with you, he can be the 'barrier' between you and his sisters for a while and hopefully take some of that pressure from you. MrK is still pottering away in the kitchen. I put some chicken nibbles in to cook, he is making mini courgette, feta and chilli fritters to dip into a chilli yogurt dip and good old curried eggs (eggs cut in half and the yolks mixed with mayo and curry). Think that will do us :) kiwimade64 - 2016-04-24 09:43:00

Good that you have Paul with you for support, perhaps this is a good time for s-d to visit so you are not dealing with them alone and might stop them wanting to come again! Those nibbles sound so good Kiwimade. jayemtoo - 2016-04-24 12:52:00 |

morning ladies :) WOW! Tinybaldone, those cards are stunning, just scrumptious! Love the butterfly one. I've finished the wee cardy but need to have a rummage in the button jar for buttons. Need four so what's the bet I won't find anything suitable lol. I'll take a photo when the buttons are on. Deramores have given me a 10% off voucher thingy with my next order so might order a bit more. The lovely wool I bought for Maddy may not be enough as her knitting takes around 250 grams now and this wool, even though it says 100 grams on the label, just doesn't look enough. Think I will start working on yardage rather than weight. I have a ball of the magic yarn left over so think I will find a contrast colour and knit her a hoodie using both yarns. happy knitting :) kiwimade64 - 2016-04-25 08:03:00
wahoo found some buttons. I bought them three years ago thinking they would be pretty on something for the then new baby but never used them. https://trademe.tmcdn.co.nz/photoserver/full/472647904.jpg kiwimade64 - 2016-04-25 09:04:00
Morning ladies, kiwimade if your button jars are anything like mine, you will find 3 of the right size and colour, 4 of the right size but wrong colour, and 10 of the right colour but wrong size! Didn't get much sleep last night, went to bed very early as I was tired, but Mr K woke at 1am and again at 3am and then we had more bizarre behaviour from him, which continued until almost 7 this morning. Won't go into details but I was getting a bit frantic. He's had his meds and breakfast now and is in bed and his behaviour is almost normal again. Paul is finding it very difficult to watch. Firewood is coming at 10am, not looking forward to this little exercise, but I will be grateful to have a decent supply of wood on hand for when the weather gets colder. Don't seem to have done any knitting or crochet for days. Yesterday Paul cooked a bbq around lunchtime, and the carer was here for an hour to give Mr K a wash, so I took the opportunity to sit out on the deck with a glass of wine and had a bit of lunch. I daresay after shifting all the firewood Paul won't feel like doing much for the rest of the day. Have a super day everyone. kuaka - 2016-04-25 09:12:00
Morning everyone Soo hard going through the stuff that comes with medications Kuaka.. Im glad you have Paul there, albeit a short visit. MrP hardly slept last night too, so is relaxing in bed. Im pleased he is still in bed, he talked about going to the service parade this morning, but its windy as here and I bet its cold with it. and we don't need to be out in that. Both still coughing occasionally. I feel like Im lost at sea, I don't know what I want to work on next. Im plodding with the c2c, and enjoying it. But I need something else to do lol. The tenants are still cleaning next door, been there of and on all week... I hope we get nice ones again. Have a fab day all... popeye333 - 2016-04-25 09:21:00
Good morning , ladies. Thank you for your kind comments about the cards - I love making them - used to sell them at our local Saturday market for about 6 years - gave up about a year ago - couldn't face getting up at 5.30 for a 7am start. I mostly get the designs from an internet site (paid) then print them out, cut and assemble. tinybaldone - 2016-04-25 10:01:00
