Today I'm going to clean all the window frames and sills, blimmen flies! Have trapped two mice already yesterday, so the 'mouse' season begins!

Will start knitting for this new baby today, ran out of cotton for my cloth last night and will have to wait for my next Spotlight visit before I can do more.

Housework this morning, just catching up on stuff. and cleaning the deep fryer which is a horrible job lol.

Morning ladies, well it was quite hectic yesterday with so many visitors and phone calls, I felt like I didn't have time to catch my breath let alone dwell on things. Yesterday he looked absolutely awful but today, after a good nights sleep he looks, well I was going to say better, but not better isn't right, he doesn't look quite so bad as yesterday.

Hospice and home support were brilliant yesterday, and my friends are rallying round which is awesome. I just hope Paul and the oldest daughter from Australia can get here in time. Trouble is we don't know how long it's going to be - that's probably the hardest part of it all, that and seeing him suffer.

Better get myself organised, as I have to nip to town. If I can go shortly while he's asleep (knocked out with morphine) I can spend half an hour with my friend trying to be normal when she calls in later.

Morning everyone

Great news, MrP found his wallet.. The photo isn't in it. We suspect it might be in his very old wallet which is put away so safely neither of us can remember where it is. But it will be here somewhere. So hes a happy chappy again.
He seems to have picked up a sore throat and cough, we think from being in the module on Monday at the super clinic with two people coughing their heads off.
Started some cleaning yesterday, and enjoyed it, which is good. I want to carry on.
cleared out some jam jars, marge containers ice cream containers etc. Put them on facebook and the jars went instantly.

Our neighbours have moved, I hope we get some people our own age in there, once its been redecorated.

Did a few squares last night.

Shopping this morning and then crochet probably since my back is already niggly

Kuaka would you have room for a proper bed in there or a divan. Its just that some of those sofa beds can be damned uncomfy and you need to taake good care of you as well. Hope you find something anyway.
And hope you dont mind me posting in here everyone. I pop in from time to time to see how youre all getting on as i used to talk to popeye many moons ago but dont get much time at the moment with others in the house full time. I just use my tablet upstairs which isnt as good as the laptop, but our house is a work in progress as im beginning to realise most peoples are as we try toaccomodate the various living situations we all seem to go through.
Anyway you,re a nice bunch to listen to and it gives me a sense of community as i,m a bit of a home bod and well, sometimes general just doesnt do it for me.

Yes, I agree with you mndy1, I enjoy coming in here every day, as I am a home bod too, and very much like reading what everyone is doing. I am just about to finish off knitting myself a jersey, then I have a huge pile of wool to decide what to do with. I ordered some pink acrylic from Deramores, but when it arrived it was way to gaudishly pink. Maybe my grown granddaughters will like it. The weather is very nice here today. I have been down your path Kuaka, it is very hard, but thank goodness for your friends and the hospice. Our family was really wonderful and still is.

just popping back in while I have my cuppa. Windows finished, well the inside anyway. Will do the outside tomorrow as they still look dirty. Thank goodness for the karcher window doo-dacky. Only used a cup of water for the inside windows, brilliant when on tank water.

I love reading other's posts and I say the more the merrier so I hope mndy1, rosynana, and sunflowers28 keep on posting :).

Disappointing isn't it when the colour you think you are getting is very different.

Need to get organised to go into town. MrK spotted some oil for the car on special so I'll get some while in town. He does all the oil and filter changes to the car.

Up and out early this am as had to take sister to Hastings then BiL to Clive an a couple of other errands so have my taxi driver hat on today it seems.
Took my knitting in case had a bit of waiting around but only did one row.

So good that you are getting some input of support services Kuaka, do take all that is offered as there is always 2 people to think of in this situation both the patient and carer are equally important to be looked after I always feel.

Lovely to see others joining in here, the more the merrier! I agree Mndy general isn't always as friendly as this thread is.

Enjoying my coffee and then I really must get out and do the lawns while the weather is just so perfect.

Morning ladies, I'm surviving thank you, Paul is going to give me his flight details as soon as he has them, the sister (who I've never met but have spoken to heaps) has finally got her passport application away so hope she's not too far away, the other sister who lives 20 minutes away hasn't been near for over a week, mind you it took her a year to visit when mr k broke his neck. At that stage she was living 3 hours drive away. No excuse really when Paul flew in from Bangkok for 3 days a week after mr k came out of hospital.

I've had two nights of not much sleep but I'm used to sleeping badly, and can always nap during the day. Mr k does seem a bit more his usual cheeky self today, and although I know it won't last, it is good to see the twinkle in his eyes, rather than the vacant look he had Monday and Tuesday.

I agree, the more the merrier in here. I haven't even looked at my knitting or crochet since Tuesday but hope to do some today. I've found mr ks keys so I can give a friend the mailbox key and front door key, so she can let herself in and out and save me going up and down the stairs so often and she can check the mail when she's in town so I don't have to. One less thing to worry about.

Hospice have suggested putting a hospital bed in the lounge to make it easier for him to sit up and he can also look at the sea and his boat, so I think I'll accept that offer when she phones to check on things tomorrow.

I weighed myself this morning, I've lost 6kg since Christmas.

The bed settee is surprisingly comfortable and I'm quite happy with it and pleased that I bought it. It's very easy to pull out and put away although I've decided I will leave it made up for the time being so I can take that cat nap if I need to.

It's a miserable day here, rain so I'm quite pleased to just stay indoors and just look after mr k. I'm not feeling quite so nauseous or emotional today, I suppose I'm getting used to the idea of losing him, although I'm still dreading it. I don't mind being on my own but I will miss him awfully.

We have done the shopping, we had a very tight budget for this week we still have some money left lol So that's good. Didn't buy meat tho, cos we got that on Monday on the way home from the clinic.

I got MrP some vicks cough lollies and they have suppressed that a bit, hes sore from coughing the poor thing

Glad you have all the help Kuaka. And so pleased to hear MrK has a twinkle in his eye.. By having him in the lounge he wont feel so Cut off either, and will make it easier for you too.

Ive just sewn in the ends on the squares I did last night.. I think Im at about 39-40 now. Planned on 56 like my friends blanket, but these squares are a little smaller so might make it 8 by 8.

Morning ladies, I slept well last night, Mr K woke at some stage and went to the loo and after he'd got himself back to bed, I could hear a strange noise. He'd left the hot tap running in the en suite after washing his hands. I managed to go straight back to sleep, but I guess I was tired. I dozed off watching tv and was late phoning his daughter in Australia so she had sent me a message asking was everything okay.

Mr K got up yesterday afternoon and walked around the lounge and kitchen for about 10 minutes and then went back to bed. That bit of effort wore him out but he was walking quite well.

It was a miserable day yesterday, rained just about all day but today is sunny but cool, I've just wiped the condensation off the windows. I'm dreading this winter, especially as I still have to get firewood in, which is hard work. Paul says to organise it for when he is here so he can do it for me.

I'm slowly making progress on the c2c blanket I'm working on, it's with wool I bought from Skeinz at $2 a ball, it's lovely colours and beautifully soft. Not sure how big it will be, just going to do it till I run out of wool.

I felt a bit less stressed yesterday, not so tearful, I'm gradually coming to terms with the situation, I don't like it, but I am starting to cope. I'm dreading the next few weeks.

Morning Ladies Great sunny day here in the Bay. Sleep well last night after waking up yesterday and not been able to move with out pain in my hip. Spend an hour at he Physio and have another appointment today.

No knitting yesterday. Called into a friend to see if I could match some wool,but out of luck,so will have more white on it.That ok.

Good to hear Mr K got up and had a walk around the house yesterday. Kuaku you sound more like yourself in your message this morning. Enjoy your day and just take it as it comes.

I'm starting to feel less emotional and resigned to the inevitable, but it's not easy. Yesterday my oven decided was a good time to die. I have two wall ovens, a small one at the top which I use most of the time, and a full sized one underneath the small one. I put a casserole in and after about an hour realised I couldn't smell it cooking, the oven was still cold. So I had to pull all the baking tins and trays out of the big oven and use that. I suppose the element has blown in the small oven, but it's hidden somewhere between the two ovens or there's one each side of the small oven within the walls. The top element for the grill still works but I never use that. Paul says he will have a look when he's here. The list of things for him to do is growing steadily longer by the day.

Just take it day to day as much as you can Kuaka and delegate to others whenever possible - sometimes easier said than done!

Im enjoying knitting up a very old pattern for a baby matinee jacket although might be complaining when it comes to sewing it up but I do like some of the old patterns which have survived over the years.
Delivered bag of stuff to medical centre yesterday and they were most appreciative, have another bag for a local centre which must get to them as the weather is certainly cooler so little ones will be needing a bit extra warmth.

First morning for condensation today. I was going to plankug the window vac in yesterday, but didn't.. I should have known. It was rather cold at 6am, I needed sleeves, which I certainly didn't need last week.. Yay bring on winter.
Ive decided to do the blanket 8 by 8 squares. My duvet has squares about the same size on it. So 22 to go.

Good morning ladies. It was very cold last night and first thing this morning. I had a blood test today, so warmed up in the car going in. My daughter is on holiday at the moment, so is painting the house roof - I have a granny flat here. So I go out and chat to her while she is teetering on the edge!!!! I fell over yesterday morning while putting on my pants, and couldn't get up, so had to call my daughter and grandson. Hahaha, it was funny and embarrassing but they lifted me up very well, got lots of teasing from grandson about being half dressed, I was very well covered with dressing gown and nightie.

Kuaka, when my darling husband was ill, the hospice put a hospital bed in our lounge and loaned us a lovely reclining chair. Our family moved our big bed into the lounge too, so it was like a great big sunny bedroom. Then my daughter gave her dad a bell to ring, in case I didn't hear him over my snoring, what a cheek!. My thoughts are with you. Have a lovely day today everyone.

I'm sorry rosynana, but I did have a chuckle at your grandson helping you. I hope you weren't hurt in the fall though.

I lost the chicken yardage race, so will see what Spotlight has next week and if I can't match the colour, will unpick and knit a beanie and booties so no biggie.

Morning ladies, I'm hoping for a "boring" day today after the day I had yesterday. Started off okay, had one load of washing on the line and another in the machine and had started on the ironing and the power went out. Noticed the traffic outside at a standstill, then it all started turning round in our driveway and heading out of town. Turns out that a power pole had fallen across the main road, just round the corner from us, blocking the main road and side street with live wires.

So we had a series of visitors, one who was heading to town and couldn't get there, one who lives in the next street and keeps popping in, hospice delivered the bed and erected it, but couldn't test it because the power was still off. Another friend called in, and then a friend from Whangarei finally arrived, having been stopped at Kawakawa south of us and asked by the police where he was going. When he said Paihia they diverted him halfway round the country, in a long detour only to arrive in Paihia and find he was north of the blockage, had he continued on his was north instead of following the detour, he would have been okay, as the blockage was north of us by 150 metres. So he wandered round town, had some lunch and then backtracked all the way to Kawakawa and eventually headed north to us arriving around 3pm instead of midday.

A friend and her partner arrived to help me start the Safari but the terminal leads were lose, the batteries flat (it's a 24v system, 2 x 12v batteries) and the booster still wasn't charged enough (I suspect that's on it's last legs). They are away for the weekend but he said he'll come on Monday morning and if the booster still isn't enough he will use the battery out of his van and try that. I really want to get a wof for it, but can't unless I can start the thing. He says it's just lacking power in the batteries and should be okay. Might even need new batteries if the ones in it won't hold their charge.

So boring today will suit me fine.

I plan to inflate the topper on the hospital bed and make it up. Nip to town soon to get a few bits, and then try to just potter around here and spend as much time with Mr K as possible. The house looks like a secondhand shop at the moment with chairs all over the place where they've made room to put the bed up. Too bad.

You never know I might even find time to do some crochet, but no guarantees.

I think that's the first time you have ever mentioned a tiff with your MrK Kiwimade.. They can be soo stupid at times, theyre not using the head on their shoulders... Ive learnt to ignore most of what MrP says, its only if I not well that it affects me.

The Darling has shared his cold and cough, My throat is sore and Im coughing already argghh...!!!! Along with the tops of my arms my throat really is my "Archilles heel".. comes from having tonsillitis so much when I was a kid.

Since I cannot handle having no butter in the house, Im going up to get the sunday top up, today. So Ill check out some lozenges of some kind.

I have 15 squares of my blanket to do, so just a few more days. Im going to see if I can get one more ball to do the joining, Im not sure I will tho.

Yeah, the Queen is a bit unreliable I've found, twice lately she's cancelled at the last minute which was just as well as the house is a shambles. Never mind. I've just nipped to town for a few bits - only been gone about 25 minutes, come home and Mr K frightened the life out of me by saying "oh you're back" while I was putting the milk in the fridge. He's up and walking around. Not dressed, pjs and a jersey. This morning he put his shoes and socks on and then went to get into bed.

Our postie will love it as when she delivers it to the door she will make a big fuss of the Furry One. He adores her too lol. It has been over a year since I have ordered anything from them. I knitted a wee blue beanie last evening, unpicked the jacket I started and lost the chicken yardage game with. Have enough to make some booties I think so will knit those today.

How exciting a wool parcel Kiwimade.
Had busy day yesterday, helped with the kitty litter production then actually got around to doing my garage - it has been on the "to-do" list for ages. Then decided that the Queen just might head this way after visiting the rest of you so got out the vacuum.

Finished knitting the jacket now sewing it up not my favourite part of the process but looking good. Have needles, wool and pattern sitting beside me for the next project they are begging me to start but will do a few odd jobs first.

Morning ladies, oh jayemtoo, you are good, I can never resist casting on a new project before I've finished the last half dozen I have on the go, which is why my list of ufo's gets steadily longer.

A quieter day yesterday, only one visitor (apart from the home support worker) and a couple of phone calls, so fingers crossed today will be even quieter as I didn't get much sleep last night. Fell asleep in the chair watching coro st, went to bed early and only slept till 2.30, so I think I will have a nap this afternoon.

It started off sunny this morning but is raining now but it's not as cold as it was yesterday.

I've got a really sore upper arm (bicep) and couldn't figure out why until I saw the pumpkin on the bench. I went to the toy Countdown yesterday to get broccoli and came home with two pumpkins to make soup, and boy was the first one hard to cut. Mr K usually does that for me. I struggled even with my big sharp chef's knife. Anyway, at least I know what's caused it. Just to make things worse, he said he didn't enjoy the soup.

Might make pikelets for morning tea. He loves them.

It doesn't take much to get us all excited eh lol.. And even tho we know exactly what is coming in the Deramores parcel its still fun getting it.
I will probably treat myself to something closer to Christmas as the wool supply is pretty much at its limit. No more room lol.

I have ends to sew in on 7 squares and then I will decide what colour way the last 7-8 squares will be. Then joining , Yay. I really enjoy joining crochet. It always looks nice and even. More so that knitted squares.

MrP has stopped coughing, and we both just have bunged heads.. So hopefully its not going to hang around too long.

Washing is on, and I have to fill our pill trays.. Other than that the floor can wait lol.

The power has been off for a few hours here, we heard on the neighbourhood grapevine it was a serious car accident. Hope whoever it was will be OK.

Kuaka, I've taken a pumpkin out to the firewood chopping block and taken to it with the axe lol. Worked too even if we did have funny shaped pieces of roast pumpkin lol.

I've knitted a pair of booties to go with the beanie today and crocheted a few more rows on the C2C blanket I'm working on but ran out of wool. The Furry One thinks the blanket is just for him so makes crocheting challenging. Will get there in the end.

Time for dinner, the final of the David Attenborough series we have been following is on the telly tonight :)

morning ladies :) I want to clean the outside windows today, won't take long to do and take some irises I dug up into town for a lady who wants them. Happy to give them away, beats throwing them out.

I'm plodding on with the C2C blanket until my wool order arrives or I can get into Spotlight to buy some more cotton for my cloth. The wool feels very chunky after crocheting cotton, going from a 1.75mm to a 3.50mm hook makes me feel quite clumsy.

Morning everyone.
What a night. Both of us barking our heads off so a couple of tired bunnies today. I like to have lots of windows open when there are bugs in the house but its too windy out there today.

5 squares to go and I was very disappointed to find the yarn I was doing the last row of each square in is different colours. So it really will be a mix of colours. They looked the same when I was working with them.

Apart from the dishes I wont be doing anything but crochet.

Nipped up to our recycling centre shop yesterday. I saw an idea on FB about making kitten blankets for the spca, they have them with them, and when they are adopted they take the blanket away with them. And they are being made from the carpet wool, so they last.. id seen a huge cone of it up there last week.. So I called and it was still there so I spent the huge $5 to get this massive cone.
I might try crocheting it. Either way its going to be hard to use, but I figure crochet will grow faster..
And I might give them to our local rescue rather than the SPCA.

Morning ladies, well my run of rotten luck seems to know no bounds. First it's the safari won't start, then the oven dies, (not forgetting the mess I made with the oil all over the kitchen floor) then this morning the security lights were on at 5am and wouldn't go off. I tried every switch I could think of (not knowing which is the override switch is a bit of a nuisance) sent Paul a message, phoned a friend as he was coming to try to start the safari, but he couldn't figure it out either, then while he was busy trying to start the safari the lights just went out. Grrrrrr!

I didn't do any crochet at all yesterday, I am starting to have withdrawal symptoms. Must try to do some today.

Mr K had a bad day yesterday, lot of pain, so extra morphine, so he ended up sleeping a lot. I did the ironing and made up one of the spare beds and had a phone call from his bi*ch of a daughter, so I told her what she and her sister can do (the sister who showed up for the first time ever at Easter, the one who has never felt ready to be friends with her father). I told her she can tell her sister that I'm not impressed by the crocodile tears and amateur dramatics so if she is going to carry on like that again, she can keep away, and I said "if you are going to be your usual confrontational self, you needn't bother coming either". I think I made myself quite clear that I'm not going to put up with their nonsense. She offered to wash the outside of the house. Sorry but having dirty weatherboards is the least of my problems right now.

Anyway, think it's time I had some breakfast, and then a shower, and maybe then I'll start to feel human again.

Good Morning Ladies. Had rain over night so my two herb plants will get off to a good start.
Not happy with my knitting at present so put it aside and did a little needle felting while I watched The Railway Man. Yes I did have tears by the end.

So pleased you let MrK daughter know how you felt about their last visit. Hope Paul and his sister can get over soon.Good to have someone around and to talk too..

Will rain cleared,time I make a move as I have an appointment this morning them my day my own as hubby away for the day.
