| I'm glad your trip went well, makerealbany. Is that the start of her chemo? How many sessions is she scheduled for? grizzly4 - 2019-11-18 07:22:00 |
| That was the third one so she is halfway through and then starts Radio Therapy. You are on a gardening roll. I have done some weeding and that is it. I have a stray very fat cat coming to visit at night. She came in through the cat door last night and I had to put her out grr. Dunhill hides under my pillows. I have posted her pic on our Community page and asked all the neighbours who she belongs to but no one knows sigh. I think its a she as she has a lovely posh pink collar on. Shes not around during the day when the dogs are out in the yard. Shes also rather vocal at night. makerealbany - 2019-11-18 21:44:00 |
| I'm not feeling very creative regarding Christmas presents at all this year. I felt a pang of nostalgia (lol) when you mentioned sewing presents. I have loved doing that in the past. I am currently doing dolls clothes for the shop and some wee knitted santas for the Craft Group stall next week. A little bit of fun doing those since my muscle memory can't get the hang of doing the beaded stars I learned to do 30 years ago. Haha. grizzly4 - 2019-11-19 07:37:00 |
| What a week. I feel like I'm running on empty lol. Visitors coming and going. School Sports Days. etc. I'm so tired I just fall asleep in my chair when my daughter arrives home to take over childminding. Need a holiday far away ha ha. Not much crafting going on here the last few days. makerealbany - 2019-11-20 22:42:00 |
| I feel like that too, makerealbany. Getting back into my normal routine is exhausting me, and there’s so much more happening at this time of year. I fall asleep in my chair more often than not, and crafting is just wishful thinking. Yet for some reason here I am awake at 4.30am. millefiori - 2019-11-21 04:31:00 |
| No wonder you are tired both of you. Ones up late and ones up really early!! LOL. Mind you I've fallen asleep in my chair straight after tea the last 2 evenings. After 30 winks I'm ok to knit for a couple of hours though. I have done a wee Father Christmas toy for the stall and I'm working on an alien finger puppet at present. LOL. grizzly4 - 2019-11-21 07:19:00 |
| I like the sound of the alien finger puppet, grizzly. I did a few stitches on my Christmas decoration this afternoon, but haven’t made much progress. I’m willing myself to sleep through the night tonight - wakefulness at 3 or 4am is no fun. millefiori - 2019-11-21 23:41:00 |
| I hope you slept well, millefiori. I have been so grateful that the pain in my legs has never kept me awake but that has certainly changed over the last week! Having to get up for more pills between 2 and each night. Grrr. Alien done not working on a wee Superman. LOL. grizzly4 - 2019-11-22 07:56:00 |
| I am officially home alone for the weekend. Well except for son's cat and turtle. LOL. I was hoping daughter didn't feel the need to rescue me but she's figured out the men are away racing, darn it. I'm back on crutches so won't be going far anyway. Bad week for my knees this week. grizzly4 - 2019-11-23 08:28:00 |
| Just bought an Air Fryer for myself for Christmas. LOL. Daughter S is loving hers and I can't believe how much time it is saving her cooking meals at night. She took me to a place where she gets her frozen food items direct from the factory. Huge difference in price and a great selection of vegetables. grizzly4 - 2019-11-24 09:39:00 |
| Well this weekend is over . I spent Saturday gardening and then sleeping lol. I'm on another 21 day course for the darn Shingles which are the worst I have had. So much for the vaccination ugh. The garden is so dry but I managed to empty one Compost bin. Worms galore. The second one looks just as good. Spent today with T in her garden. I had lots of breaks ha ha. makerealbany - 2019-11-25 00:03:00 |
| Well it appears to be another great day coming. Was awake at 4 . Left it too late and the pain got the better of me. I may have to set the alarm so I take the painkillers before it hits as the GP said ugh. On the bonus side the birds have been singing since 4.30. Its still dark but having a cuppa on the deck and listening to them does cheer me up. makerealbany - 2019-11-25 05:08:00 |
| Last night was the best nights sleep I've had because of the pain. Not sure what I did differently LOL. I'm sorry to hear you have Shingles again, makerealbany, and that the vaccine didn't work. It's our Twilight Craft Market on Friday night this week, so like you, it's going to be a full on week. I have baking to do for the Women's Group stall and chocolates to do for the Craft Group stall on top of organising the event and my usual work. LOL. Plus worry about the weather and whether people will turn up to make it worthwhile for the stall holders. grizzly4 - 2019-11-25 07:06:00 |
| I'm glad I'm not you this week grizzly. You are going to be really busy with the Craft Group stall, M 11 and I have more flyers to deliver tomorrow afternoon for our Event which is coming together. Isnt it difficult chasing people to check that they have done what they volunteered for ? Only to find they have not done a thing and you need someone else to do the job. Why say you will and then just ignore it grrr. Also why are some people so flaky. They make a simple task so hard by coming up with negative sideliners instead of just getting it done. I'm never doing this again. So much wasted effort repeating the same instructions that were agreed on ugh ugh ugh ha ha. makerealbany - 2019-11-27 00:08:00 |
| I know what you mean absolutely, makerealbany. It hasn't happened for the Market this time but another organisation I volunteer for is so like that!. It just drives me crazy. Mind you I must have looked a little nuts, myself, yesterday. I was out in the Reserve next to work measuring out stall sites with a long pole and I would take a big step in between pole lengths to get the right size. LOL. grizzly4 - 2019-11-27 07:07:00 |
| You are both so busy - and getting so much done, despite knees and shingles - you’re both absolute inspirations! I’m still focusing on catching up with work and home things. No crafting going on unless you count thinking about crafting LOL. After several nights waking at 3.30am and staying awake, I’ve put a fan in our bedroom and have it going on low speed all night and it’s really helped me to have a better sleep. millefiori - 2019-11-27 19:49:00 |
| My son is thinking about getting one of the Air Chillers advertised on tv as his rooms upstairs are really hot day and night. Even downstairs we are sleeping with just a sheet on the bed. Supposed to be 29 here again today but down to about 16 during the Market tomorrow night. Grrr. Went back to work last night to grab all the sausages that had been delivered to put in our freezer to find the lock on the door had jammed completely. We can't get in to day until a locksmith arrives and I can't ring them till 8am. Rather today for dramas rather than tomorrow I guess. Looks like any funds we raise at the Market will be going on a new lock!!!! grizzly4 - 2019-11-28 07:16:00 |
| Omg grizzly what a pain. I hav e to pick up the meat for the hangi so I have to rearrange my fridge today ugh. T here is still a lot of baking to be done which I will do tomorrow, I'm laughing at you with your pole ha ha. M and I delivered flyers again last night which is to say I drove the car and M ran from letterbox to letterbox. When we got back she was busy painting a Christmas Ball for school. They have an advent in her classroom. Students put there names in a hat plus a list of the things they would like, M has to make something every day. makerealbany - 2019-11-28 07:46:00 |
| As you can see my darn computer is playing up an d missing letters. makerealbany - 2019-11-28 07:47:00 |
| An early wake up again sigh. At lest I have finished my ironing ha ha. I have to finish the baking for tomorrow. I baked 60 Cupcakes last night. I have the meat to pick up for the Hangi at the School after I have cleaned up our two homes, Tonight at 6 we are going to the School to peel the veges and set up. Tomorrow Ill be there at 6 in the morning to put the Hangi on and arrange Morning tea for everyone. It starts at 10 and finishes at 2. After clean up I will come home and rest as I am going to my son's tomorrow night to babysit L. First time ho ho. She is 7 months old now and has teeth that she uses ha ha. makerealbany - 2019-11-29 05:00:00 |
| Big days ahead for you, makerealbany. I hope tomorrow goes well for you. grizzly4 - 2019-11-29 07:35:00 |
| Grizzly and makerealbany - I hope your events go really well - you have both put in so much work and both events sound like the type of thing hoards of people will flock to - I hope they buy lots! millefiori - 2019-11-29 08:20:00 |
| Yahoo its over. Was a great success. I worked until 9 on Friday night peeling veges, etc. Then A and I went to the school at 6 on Saturday morning. Set up all the dishes to put in the hangi. I raced home at 8 for another shower and was back there by 9.45. After the event I drove into the city with stuff for my son. Arrived home at 10 and fell into bed. at 12 after sorting out everything I had taken to the school minus the 3 doz Cupcakes. ha ha. Today I cleaned and sorted more stuff my youngest son has to pick up for L . Tomorrow will be busy as A is away and S wont be back until 8 , Ah well another week begins ha ha makerealbany - 2019-12-01 21:02:00 |
| Ours wasn't quite as successful unfortunately. The weather held out well but a few stalls did a no show and there wasn't as much public as I would have liked. Most of the stall holders were keen to repeat next year so that's a good sign it wasn't a dismal failure. I've been on crutches all weekend, being on my feet for the 2 days of preparation and event did my legs no good at all. Now it's back to the normal stuff of trying to find money and fitting in the administrator's work into my schedule as it was her last day on Friday. 'Tis the season of miracles so here's hoping I find a few so I can enjoy a Christmas break in a few weeks. LOL. grizzly4 - 2019-12-02 07:24:00 |
| And now the round of end of year functions start... I have one at the Council straight after Women's Group this morning and then one for the shop after work tonight. Two and a half weeks before we close for the year. Yippee! grizzly4 - 2019-12-04 07:16:00 |
| That's a shame about the numbers grizzly. My youngest son and I took my eldest son to the Specialist on Tuesday. I was so pleased G could drive us as I was a nervous wreck. K had a tooth removed a year ago and the scan showed that they did not remove all the roots so it has festered. He has been suffering with infection after infection in his sinuses . The scan showed the infection has spread up his gums, cheeks, throat, nose and above his eyes, The GP kept giving him super bug antibiotics but the Specialist said none of that worked. As if we didn't know that grrr. So K has to get the roots removed and he is on the urgent list for surgery as they will have to clean and scrape ugh. Also his nose has bent and one nostril is nearly completely closed inside. No wonder he had trouble breathing. We are all relieved that he is finally having it sorted. makerealbany - 2019-12-04 23:22:00 |
| Work is really busy and is taking all my energy. No crafting in the evening lately as my eyes are worn out after looking at the computer all day. Maybe time for an eye exam and updated glasses. Something else to put on the “To Do” list LOL. millefiori - 2019-12-05 06:43:00 |
| LOL, millefiori. My husband reckons he is on the same mission. He just loves Christmas Mince pies. Will you finish work for the year and do you have any plans over the holidays? grizzly4 - 2019-12-05 07:17:00 |
| I love Christmas Mince pies as well. Yes milliefiori I have to put up lights etc and my small tree this weekend, I have heaps of paperwork to do but I'm ignoring it ha ha. Yes grizzly he is in a lot of pain. Took him to the Dentist today and the xrays show that he needs the roots cut out as well as the tooth next to them as it cant be saved, The Dentist says in the near future they will all have to come out as they have all been infected sigh. My sis had her chemo and arrived home to a call from the Hospital where she had her neck scanned 3 months ago. There is an anomaly on her thyroid and they want to operate straight away. Well she was shocked and told them she's finishing her chemo first. She has 2 more treatments. She also wanted to know why it has taken three months to let her know. She is putting in a complaint. That is ridiculous. She's had so many scans and didn't follow that up because she assumed nothing was wrong . makerealbany - 2019-12-05 22:50:00 |
| Your poor son!!! Your poor sister!!!!!! That's dreadful not letting her know sooner. We had a guest speaker from the Health and Disability Advocacy Service not so long ago. I hope your sister uses someone like them to go to bat for her. grizzly4 - 2019-12-06 07:25:00 |
| Yes I think she has a good Advocate. My son rang tonight and he said 'Thanks for the bottle of Dettol Ma' I had taken him a box of cleaning stuff and things I thought might come in handy as he has to be meticulous about cleanliness. He told me he had just finished cooking his tea and he noticed water leaking out from the cabinet beneath the stove. Opened it up and nearly heaved. It was a dishwasher full of stagnant water. He cleaned it all out and wiped it over with Dettol. Did nt know it was a dishwasher. It appears that the sinkerator is leaking into the dishwasher. He noticed wires disconnected so will let the property manager know sigh. makerealbany - 2019-12-06 22:26:00 |
| Yuck, yuck, yuck to the dishwasher story. We had a quite a few things needing doing in the garden today but looks like a nasty storm heading our way from the south. Son S did his jobs early and was finished before I was out of the shower. LOL. He thinks he is so clever now. grizzly4 - 2019-12-07 10:32:00 |
| And so starts another week...... I finished a wee cardy for the shop., finally. It's taking me 2 weeks instead of 1 these days. grizzly4 - 2019-12-09 07:19:00 |
| In the process of selling the portacom office at work as we now have less staff. I ans S helped me move all the furniture on Sunday but sorting through files and paper work yesterday was a nightmare and then trying to find room in our main building for cupboards etc. Today I have to catch up with the work I should have done yesterday. grizzly4 - 2019-12-10 07:19:00 |
| Yippee I'm back home again. A has been away working so I have been staying there minding the children, etc. My grandson J16 is up with me now and he has been moving mulch and putting more weed mat down for us. He has a list of jobs to do. Busy still grizzly. I hope you are going on a break soon. I'm going to the beach for New Years with my two sons, We had such a great time last year. I will most likely go up for a few nights before Christmas. We are going to my son W's home for Christmas which is the first for a few years. The girls usually take turns so it will b e great for them ha ha. I have not touched my knitting but the sewing is going ok. makerealbany - 2019-12-11 23:05:00 |
| Home today with a sore throat and a cough. Worst part is sitting here thinking of all the work on my desk waiting to be done before we close Friday, next week. I have been browsing knitting patterns and went to print some off but no paper left in printer. Grrr. Where we are living now there aren't many shops etc and mid way between too malls. One is too close to work and I would end up going in and working LOL. The other is on the other side of all the new motorway road works. Sigh. I'll just have to remember where I found the patterns. Memory isn't what it was though. grizzly4 - 2019-12-12 10:31:00 |
| Hope that sore throat and cough gets better. I have my last 5.30 start tomorrow as A is flying to Wellington for her last day of work for the year yippee. I have a long list to complete for myself next week. I am so looking forward to the weekend ha ha makerealbany - 2019-12-12 23:29:00 |
| OMG does that mean you will be officially on holiday? ! Yahoo. I'm back at work today to catch up on yesterday. Cough still niggling but nothing has got worse so far. grizzly4 - 2019-12-13 07:16:00 |
| Guess what A is booked for 3 more days ugh so I'm still not on holiday ugh ugh ugh. That says it all. Had a lovely Christmas Day for little E as she will be away over Christmas. She wanted Brunch then we went to see Frozen 2 and then more Lunch ha ha. Shopping and then she looked so pale that I rang her Mum. She has a temp so its the doctor for her tomorrow for a check. Ive wrapped a few presents. I am going to do a few every night so I can get through it all. makerealbany - 2019-12-15 22:58:00 |
| What a shame your break is on hold! The Kid's programmes finish tomorrow at work, all the others finished last week. From Wednesday it will be cleaning up and getting some evaluations done. And of course the GST and another funding application before I finish Friday. grizzly4 - 2019-12-16 07:21:00 |
| I hope your cough and sore throat are better, grizzly. They can be annoyingly hard to shake in summer. You will be stressed with the funding worries so that won’t be helping. millefiori - 2019-12-17 06:49:00 |
| Thats good feedback so far for your air fryer, millefiori. LOL. My daughter has bought frozen roast pumpkin and potatoes and was very pleased with how they turned out as well. And Spicy wedges as well. grizzly4 - 2019-12-17 07:26:00 |
| OMG, 2am this morning I was wide awake worrying about work finances!!!! Went to bed at 9.30 and straight to sleep then look what happened. I drifted off about 4ish but then seemed like no time before alarm went off and was having a bad dream anyway. Sigh. It's so busy at work getting everything done by Friday that I'm not worrying about it so much and I'm doing a lacy pattern knitting wise so need to keep my wits about me during the evening. LOL. grizzly4 - 2019-12-18 07:35:00 |
| 2nd to last day of work. Yippee! grizzly4 - 2019-12-19 07:50:00 |
| Finally finished for the year woohoo. I took my son to get his roots of one tooth plus another tooth out today. He is in so much pain and the Dentist was marvellous. K cannot hear anything because the infection is now blocking his ears. The Dentist says that will clear in a week or two. Its hard though as he cannot hear the phone when I ring. A friend is staying with him for a few days until its safe to leave him alone. I had to hold his arm crossing the street because he cant hear the traffic and is disorientated. Gosh what a year !!! I woke with a nasty cough. Not sure why but my throat is sore ugh. I'm going to get my hair cut tomorrow and go to our Christmas Function at the Club. If I stay for a little while at lest I made an appearance ha ha. makerealbany - 2019-12-19 23:28:00 |
| And at this point one more day is going to be all it takes to tip me over the edge. The forms for staff to complete for my performance appraisal went out last week. One came back with the worst comments I have ever had in the 28 years I have worked there. It was full of negative comments with no back up info so I sent it back to her requesting specific examples to illustrate my extremely poor performance. Weird thing is she still ticked the excellent and outstanding boxes so I just don't get it (except that she is very friendly with the woman whose contract we couldn't renew recently). She and I have fortnightly supervision and I have mentioned that is pretty poor processing for her not to have brought any issues up then. I am absolutely gutted. grizzly4 - 2019-12-20 07:46:00 |
| Got through the last day. Phew. I wish I had a copy of the original appraisal notes now as they have been returned to me completely changed in a positive way, with examples of what is working well.!!!!??? I am stunned by the complete reversal and wonder what on earth is going on, how much was dictated perhaps by the other person. Sigh. So over it all. grizzly4 - 2019-12-21 10:32:00 |
| Took hours to wrap presents yesterday and had to go buy a few more to fill gaps. LOL. Used the cake mixer to make a pav for the first time.Usually just have an electric beater. What a difference! Can't wait to put that on the table tonight. Christmas Day No. 1 is here, No 2 will be the 25th up in Blenheim with my parents. grizzly4 - 2019-12-22 10:55:00 |
| Yesterday was so much fun! Everyone loved their presents and I used my Airfryer to roast the veges to go with our pork and apple sauce. The pav was amazing, so pleased with the result. I've never tried meringues but I might have a go now just to see how they turn out. LOL. L12 will love eating any results anyway. Haha. Are you both all organised for your Christmas's? This will be last message till I get back on Boxing Day. Have a wonderful time with friends and family and I hope Santa is very generous to you both. grizzly4 - 2019-12-23 07:28:00 |
| Have a very Merry Christmas Grizzly. Sorry but once again I have an infection. The damage done by the Whooping Cough before Mum Passed has made me so susceptible to any jolly virus. I am off for more blood tests which is such a nuisance. Ah well I'm better off than a lot of others. I'm grateful for that. makerealbany - 2019-12-23 08:35:00 |
