morning ladies :) Lovely blanket popeye, a job well done!

Back in the classroom for me today, seem to be getting busier with the slightly longer school term (11 weeks).

Happy knitting :)

Morning everyone.. a clear fine day here.. And it doesn't bother me today.. Its a lovely nearly winter day..Yay

Thanks for the comments re my blanket, Im really happy with it..

Ive started another one, smaller and no design.. Ill see how my OCD copes lol.. Just need something to do and I love doing blankets .

Got up early and put the old fridge out on the driveway, its being picked up by a recycling man so it makes a difference not having that in the garage.
Its looking like a normal garage now. Still a lot of stuff in it, but its more organised now.

Im going to be a home wrecker today.. Have discovered a few cobwebs lol... So Ill have to evict the owners.

Ohh talking of home emptying, it appears our neighbours are on the move.. They have been there the longest since we got here. We have always called it the transitional unit cos no one stays long.. So we wont see Addy and her sister now.

Have a fab day

Morning
Good that you are getting some classroom work Kiwimade.

Washing out so now having coffee and breakfast then a bit of housework I suppose. A lovely autumn day so will get outside for a while before picking up the needles again.

Morning ladies, well another cool morning, didn't sleep well - well I did till Mr K woke me at 3.30 having a nightmare and then I couldn't get back to sleep.

This year is turning out to be every bit as bad as the last couple. News last night from my daughter in the UK that my grandson has Henoch schonlein purpura which I had never heard of so googled it. Sounds to me as though it's what his grandfather (my first husband) had. Horrible disease, first husband ended up having a kidney transplant.

Was going to go to knit and natter, but I'm not sure now as I'm waiting for the plumber to come and sort out a water leak. Haven't told Mr K about it as I don't want him worrying about it. Then I'll have to get a builder to sort out the wood where it's rotted.

Hope everyone is well and having better luck than me.

Have a super day.

morning ladies :) Was a busy day yesterday in the classroom but good.

I need to mow the lawn - usually the lawn has slowed down this time of year! And out having a coffee with a friend this morning.

The garden is calling, I have a wee azalea plant to plant as well as the salvias to dig out.

Will knit or crochet this afternoon, I bought some blue 4ply merino the other day. Was showing mrK , one 50g ball 4 ply merino cost the same as the three doubleknit acrylic 100g balls I also bought. Must admit, I do love the merino though and worth knitting for the new baby.

have a good one!

Morning everyone.
A lovely cooler day and night last night.. Even put an autumn nightie on lol

Glad your feeling happier Carole.

Our lawn has slowed a little. but not a lot. Will pick what could be the last berries today.

It will sound strange Kiwimade but I feel Blue is the right colour.. Happy to be proved wrong, but I used to be able to predict babies quite well. Have told my friend shes having a girl.

Shopping this morning. MrP is staying home, so Ill pop into the oppy and go through their Tupperware lids for some replacements.
And then get a few groceries.

I feel alive now that summer has just about run itself out.. Yayay,

Have a fab day everyone

Morning ladies, well I had a sh*t of a day yesterday, decided to call in to knit and natter and of course everyone was pleased to see me and wanted to know how I am and how mr k is and I just couldn't stop the tears. So got lots of advice on what to do. Came home and I could hear mr k groaning in agony before I even opened the front door. Made a few phone calls and eventually called the ambulance and mr k is in hospital, in kawakawa which is only 15 minutes or so away, so will go and see him this morning.

So I guess I'd better get up and face the day. Not sure how long he will be in for, but he's scheduled for a ct scan in whangarei on Tuesday so I'm hoping they will keep him in there till then and can transport him there and back 'cos he's not well enough for me to take him.

Better get my knitting/crochet organised to take with me.

Have a super day everyone.

kuaka - 2016-04-07 08:49:00
9259

oh dam kuaka, I hope they keep him in for quite a while if anything, to give you a break. Have you asked about the annual 28 days respite care? I'm not surprised you had a few tears, you are under a lot of strain.

kiwimade64 - 2016-04-07 09:13:00
9260

Morning
Beautiful day here.
Oh dear Kuaka but good that you called the ambulance and Mr K is in someone else's care for a bit. They will be able to see what he is like pain wise and hopefully come up with something a bit more positive as to what is going on. Make the most of the break and spoil yourself a bit if you can - or at least get a bit of rest.

Lawns don't seem to have stopped growing at all this summer seem to have to mow mine most weeks.
Im heading for Hastings soon for haircut and poke around spotlight as I need a few buttons but will see what else they have on offer too!

Have a good day

9261

Ohh Kuaka, not a good day at all.

Ring the hospital or tell them when your there that you cannot care for him at the mo, and that you badly need a break.
They kept mum in when we told them that

Hope today is better...

Well just home from the hospital, a friend went with me, man he's back to his usual cantankerous self already - they've changed his medication, but I didn't see the social worker yet, and there's no mention of them sending him home yet, so fingers crossed, even though it will mean going to visit every day it is easier than waiting on him while he stays in bed and me creeping round the house on tippytoes for fear of disturbing him.

Now to have a cup of tea, and then I might crack open a bottle of wine and sit out in the sun and have a well earned glass.

I took some crochet to do (just c2c squares for charity) and next thing I'm not concentrating and I end up unravelling two rows. Grrrr!

Enjoy the rest of the day ladies, and what a beaut it's been.

Well that didn't work out quite as planned. Decided I would cook myself the little piece of lamb I had intended to cook yesterday, but as I reached into the cupboard to get the electric frying pan out, I knocked the deep fryer flying, so I have just mopped up 2 litres of oil off the floor, my feet, my leather jandals, chucked out the rug that is soaked with oil, and now just washed the flipping floor. I am now having that glass of wine I promised myself - I wouldn't have minded if I'd had too much before making so much mess but to do it when I'm stone cold sober is ridiculous.

The bottle is being emptied rather quickly I'm afraid - so much for "moderation" - it's not in my vocabulary tonight!

9267

morning ladies :) I hope you finished that bottle kuaka!

Off to our solicitor this afternoon to sign Power of Attorney papers, one of us needs a different solicitor for this so that's all organised. MrK is having his flu shot afterwards, we've had a couple of reminders from the docs surgery about it.

I'm going to head outside before it rains, washing machine has beeped so will hang washing out then dig up those damed salvias. Country market day tomorrow morning in Cambridge so might pop over there to have a look at replacement plants.

Then some crochet or knitting this afternoon/evening. This cloth I'm crocheting is going to look nice, want to finish it now so I can start knitting for the new grandy.

Happy knitting :)

Morning everyone
Should think we will have rain today. Not cold tho

Hope you had a good sleep from that Wine Kuaka..

Im going to ring a shop about their wool prices.. I want to know how much the emporium charges, before we go to Manukau next week.. So we don't have to go in too many places.. MrPs patience will run short otherwise.

He had a grumpy day yesterday and promptly got told off.

Have to pop up the road to get some insulin and will have a gnder at the church that got backed into yesterday. Apparently the person that did it, didn't remember so Im guessing perhaps an older generation.

Then home to crochet

Have a good day all

Morning
Lovely day here at the moment.
Will walk over to Skeinz soon and see what buttons they have, was very disappointed with spotlight's selection. Hopefully can get the buttons on the baby tops then can take them to the medical centres next week.

Will hopefully start the knitting for next baby later today, have some wool ready to go and a pattern in mind.

Thanks Popeye will check that out - found all that I need at the moment at Skeinz and they are on special at 10c each so I was happy. I think they might be trying to get rid of having buttons though so will need to find another source I guess.

Great to hear that all is ok Carole.

morning ladies :) We're off to the country market this morning, you can buy good quality, cheap plants there and occasionally I pick up reasonably priced wool too. So worth a visit.

Another two rows done on the cloth, it's getting slower and slower with the bigger rounds. And I'll need more cotton soon but that can wait until I get back to Spotlight. Have plenty of other things I can do in between.

happy knitting :)

Morning
Sorted out my bins of knitting yesterday and have quite a pile of beanies and little tops ready to go to the medical centres then will have to start refilling them lol.

Dyed 3 lots of wool yesterday pm so will have to think what to do with them now also knitting up one lot into a "blank" so can try doing graduated dyeing but think this will be a one off unless I can find an easier way of doing it.

Have a good day all.

I managed to get some wool locally yesterday so I don't have to be tempted by going to spotlight on Monday.

Have done 19 squares now. So Im pleased with that.

Its the school Gala this morning.. We weren't going to go, but Im too tempted so A quick check of funds on here and then we will pop over.

Morning ladies, well the news at the hospital yesterday was worse than I feared. They have cancelled the CT scan, they say they can do nothing for Mr K except control his pain, so he will be home in the next few days and the social worker is arranging for hospice to come and see us. I asked how long roughly are we talking, days, weeks, months and was told "weeks". I am shattered.

kuaka - 2016-04-09 09:08:00

9282

morning ladies :) Oh kuaka, I am sorry to hear this. The hospice people were fantastic with us and mum, the knowledge and expertise they have is amazing. I cannot speak highly enough of them. Ask them for or about pretty much anything and things get done! We're here if you need to rant and rave.

We visited some kitchen places and I was surprised to find I just loved the black kitchen sinks. You can get them in grey as well but the black would be perfect for our kitchen. Even MrK liked the colour!

I did come crochet last evening, slowly but surely getting there. Will plod on today after housework is done. Been a busy week with work and town appointments, house hasn't been touched. Need to vacuum up the dead flies - omg we need a frost to kill them all.

Happy knitting :)

Morning everyone.
Kuaka I hope you get the support you need. And Im always there for you on FB..
We ended up at the gala across the road, I got 20 Enid Blyton books, a file stand thing for knitting patterns,a roll of Christmas ribbon and an awesome cast skillet . I used to have one years ago but gave it up when we moved into the bus.. And Boy did I miss it. So Im thinking it will be pikelets for lunch today. All for the grand sum of $5.

Have to pop up the street this morning and then come home and shorten some pants for MrP.
Then back to the blanket again.

Oh dear Kuaka so sad re Mr K. Do make the most of the hospice and any other services you can get.

Rained most of yesterday so mainly had an inside day which was a nice change. Started a matinee jacket from an old pattern - it cost 20c so must be quite ancient!

Morning ladies, I am trying to keep busy tidying up the house which has been neglected these last few weeks. I've given the bedroom a spring clean and am going to move a big armchair out of there and have bought an almost new bed settee which a friend was selling on behalf. It's definitely not "my colour" but it will go in the bedroom and I can sleep on it to be in the same room, but not in the same bed, as I'm quite restless at night and I don't want to be poking Mr K anywhere with elbows or knees as he's in quite a lot of pain.

As for family support, of the three of his offspring which live in NZ two are bitches, the one who lives nearest is a first-class bitch, the other one I only met for the first time at Easter, the son who lives here I have also never met, and we don't know where he lives. Mr K always says that's a good thing. The two who live in Australia are marvellous. My son is in Auckland and told me this morning that he will come any time of the day or night if I have any trouble with the daughter that gives me so much grief. My daughter is in the UK - so not really much family support, but I have some marvellous caring friends. I will get through this, but I know it won't be easy.

I shall visit and spend as much time as I can with him (armed with my knitting and crochet to keep me sane) and then care for him when he comes home.

Going to have tea tonight with a friend and his father, they know what it's like as the mother died a while back. They're lovely people so I will be well looked after. Trouble is I have no appetite at the moment.

kuaka - 2016-04-10 10:28:00
9288

Kuaka I'm sending you lots of Kisses and Hugs. Life at times can surely knock you at times..As the others have told you accept all the help that comes your way.Hospice will put a team in place to help MrK and yourself.
No appetite just snack on what you like and when you feel like eating.
Had to smile when reading your post I sat and drank a bottle of wine and the bottle was gone quickly.lol.

Well as for knitting,,dyeing fibre and weaving very little this last month. I am sure I will get back into it now my body is healing itself.
Purchased some mohair from Skeinz as they are going out of it. It's ear marked for a l rug for a dear friend.
Catch up again during the week..

Morning everyone.

Have fun at school Kiwimade, I dare say there are some tired scratchy kids now.
Id love to go to spotlight today but sadly will have to give it a miss.. sighs..

JAyemtoo by a blank do you mean you can dye it once its knitted up?

Going by the number of squares on my friends blanket Im half way on the next one. But I may have to add another row I think, cos my squares are a little smaller. But Im pleased with how its going and how far the wool is stretching.

Off for MrP's post surgery check up later today. Hate afternoon appointments, cos the roads will be busy with school traffic.

Have a fab day all

Yes Popeye I have knitted it up in a tube on large needles so I can try graduated dyeing. I think you can get small knitting machines to do this but haven't found one as yet and didn't take long to knit it on needles. I will dye it then roll it into balls and knit it hopefully!

Have been on ravelry and found some ideas.

jayemtoo - 2016-04-11 09:12:00

morning ladies :) I didn't realise you knitted blanks before you dyed jayemtoo, sounds interesting and you can see an end result as well.

Back to school for me today, so no crafting for me again. Doesn't matter as the extra money is handy to have and I enjoy being in the classroom.

Happy knitting :)

This is the first time I have knitted a blank before dyeing I usually just dye the skein and then knit it into whatever Im making. Dyed it yesterday but not sure I like it but it will knit into something interesting no doubt.

Off to mainly music my kitchen helper is awayon holiday so I hold the fort. Also need to go to town I think. Then can knit this evening

Have a good day

Morning everyone
Well the visit to the cardiologist went well.. On annual visits now which is great. And MrP managed a fair bit of walking too.

He has lost his wallet, I have to ring around this morning. Could be at the school or the oppy and possibly at the recycle place. The last not being open till Thursday. He insists on putting in his back pocket on his trackies, so very easy to fall out. Its happened before.

Have to take him for his annual diabetes check up today, just local so that's good.

I didn't take my crochet yesterday, so had to sit and twiddle my thumbs lol.

Did manage some last night tho.

Have fun at school Kiwimade..

Have a fab day all

Morning ladies, well mr k came home yesterday, he seemed quite bright when I went to visit and they said he could go home today. He asked why cant I go home "now" so they said he could if I agreed which I did, but by the time I got him home and upstairs he was exhausted. I got him into his pjs and said "I have one more little job for you" he looked at me and said he had no more little jobs left in him, so I said " yes you do, I just want a hug" and he put his arms round me and hugged me with tears rolling down his cheeks.

Have a lady coming at 10.30 to organise someone to take care of his personal hygiene, and hopefully hospice will be in touch today otherwise I will phone them tomorrow.

I saw the nurse at the surgery yesterday before I went to the hospital, my bp is up not surprisingly and I had a 'flu jab as I can't afford to get sick. No knitting or crochet for me yesterday at all

Bought a bed settee which I've put in our bedroom so that I can sleep in the same room but not disturb him, he's so tender everywhere I'd hate to hurt him in the night.

Hope everyone has a god day.

Know what you mean about losing the wallet, Popeye - Mr C does it all the time ! Good advice about staying well and looking after yourself from Popeye, Kuaka - I got shingles last year after a stressful period, and it was awful ! Try to remember the good times.
