The doctor did house calls when mum was too ill to go to him, he was lovely. Must be a small town thing, rural doctors.

Will finish this cuppa then head outside. The day is lovely and mild now, perfect for outside stuff.

The doctor at Russell did house calls, one day when Mr K was really ill she came twice.

When Mr K was ill when we were at Waiheke I phoned the surgery and was told I had to bring him in. I said "I can't, he's too ill and he's too big for me to manhandle out of the house and up the steps to the car" This was the receptionist. I'll get the nurse to phone you back. So the nurse phoned and said I had to take him in. I explained that I couldn't. So eventually the doctor phoned and asked what was wrong, when I explained his symptoms he said "I'll be there immediately" and he was there 10 minutes later, and when he examined Mr K he said "you should have called me first thing this morning - he should be in hospital but he's too ill to move now". Yes, well I tried ringing first thing this morning and the wretched receptionist and nurse wouldn't listen to me. He said "if there is any change in his condition, phone me immediately and I will come, even if it's the middle of the night" and gave me his home phone number. Some of the receptionists have a lot to answer for.

He's just said he should be in hospital.

Finished mowing the lawn, looks better now. Yep, kuaka, I have had two almighty rows with a docs receptionist now, once when she refused to let me see the doctor with our daughter who had had an allergic reaction to penicillin. Caused such a ruckus the doctor came out of his office and boy did I let him have it with both barrels about his receptionist. The other time was when I was sick a couple of years ago and she said I wasn't sick enough to see the doctor! Had adult tonsillitis and was on 2000mg of penicillin a day for two weeks. And that's not a typo, it was 2000mg! And don't get me started on our daughter's neurologist... had a go at him as she had allergies to the meds he prescribed and he told me only 1 in 2million or so are allergic... so... why can't our daughter be that 1? Turned out she was. I know a drug allergy when I see one, MrK has drug allergies and with daughter's allergy to penicillin I knew what I was seeing. Did get an apology from him. She ended up in hospital with her vital organs shutting down so it was the least he could do! Makes me so mad when receptionists think they have a medical degree!

Phew lol... rant over!

kiwimade, it sounds awful, but that does make me feel better in some small measure, because sometimes I feel as though I'm being singled out for special treatment - so it's reassuring to know others suffer at the hands of these know-all receptionists. My mum always used to say of the post office staff, "put them behind a counter and you'd think they'd been trained by Hitler!" Seems the ones behind the reception desks are the same.

We too have Horror stories about receptionists.. I call the bad ones Bulldogs.
One was in Mangakino. mrP had been beaten up by his great nephew when he invaded our home. and he mashed MrPs eye. I rang for an appointment and the bulldog said there wasn't any.
I said its an emergency and she said there still isn't any.

I hung up and we went down there.. she said there aren't appointments. I said Ill ask the dr about that.. When he came out of his room I asked him and he saw MrP straight away. The bulldog didn't like me from then on.

And once years ago we were visiting Gisborne and MrP got something in his eye. We found our way to the hospital.. They said they wouldn't see him unless he had been referred by a dr.. I let them have it, I said theres something in his eye and we live 4 hours away.

It turned out to be a piece of metal and had scratched his eye..

I don't deal with Bulldogs, they just get the same attitude back now. Thankfully we only have one here, and she doesn't work there a lot.

I didn't cry over the blanket. I was just annoyed at the thought of having to undo my practically un-undoable sewing.

Im double checking everything now tho

Not sure what the day will bring. Mowed the front lawn yesterday and even though I had only mowed three days before, got four catcher loads of clippings! Shows how fast it is growing. Crazy as usually this time of year the grass is slowing down and I mow every 10 days.

Spotted a photo of our grandy on FB wearing the hoodie I knitted lol, am going to brag, she is such a cutie.

Will do some more crochet today, might as well finish it even if it isn't what I originally wanted.

Morning everyone.. Its quite dark here

I saw the pics of Maddie in her jumper and matching tights Kiwimade... They match well and your allowed to brag shes a little cutey.

I hit the wall last night.. I didn't do any crochet or constructing.. Just couldn't face it..
And now my hands are aching lol.. Don't know if its cos Ive been doing a lot, or cos I didn't keep them working.. Cant win !!!

Yep keep an eye on the leg Carole, MrP used to get clots in his leg.. Hasn't for quite a few years now tho.. Maybe cos hes on Aspirin to thin the blood.

Back to my blanket again this morning.. Ive got to get it done lol

Know what you mean about Dr receptionists - fortunately not all but some unfortunately think they are the focal point of the whole place and must protect the Drs from us patients. Years ago I visited an elderly lady who was very prim and proper and nearly fell over laughing when she described the hassles she had had with her GPs receptionist who she thereafter always called old "vinegar tits" lol.

Yes saw the FB photo Kiwimade and thoroughly agree Maddy is so cute and the jacket looks great on her.

Slow start to the day although I suppose sitting in bed reading the papers on iPad and knitting with a cup of coffee at hand is one way of starting hehe.

Have several messages to do this am then will see where day goes, finished another top last evening and started another.

Morning ladies, well I managed to sleep in till 9am (but it was 1.30 last time I looked at the clock), and I have just retrieved a very wet soggy Herald from the bottom of the driveway, not wrapped like it sometimes is, and there was heavy rain forecast. I ask you. So I've got it draped over the clothes airer but have just complained about it. They are going to credit me for it. It will take forever to dry out. Grrrr!

Had a surprise visit last night from my son, he was on his way further north to catch up with a mate he hasn't seen for years. He didn't stay long but had a coffee, and toasted sandwich, a chat and a hug, and went on his way. He hopes to call in tomorrow on his way home with some fish, which would be awesome, and to collect his curtains. He looked in on Mr K, who told him he probably won't be here by the time he comes back.

Have to go to town this morning briefly, but no other plans for today, and seeing as it's been raining hard, everything outside is soaked, might just have a tidy up, do the next lot of ironing, and knit.

Yes, Carolev you need to get these things checked out. No point taking chances, so hope you're okay.

Thank you for your words of support. The pesky heart valve got replaced with a minimum of bother. And after a couple of very minor hi coughs l came out on Wed. I will stay with my daughter till Monday when my sister from whangarei will stay with me so feeling quite pampered. I have enjoyed catching up with your activities though can't remember if I commented on your great design Popeye. My son set up an old iPad for me which is ideal for my situation. I am a one fingered typist but this seems so much quicker to do than the computer key board. Thank you people.

Ive added a two row block onto the main piece. Have the ends to sew in , then that's 14 rows done.. I can nearly see the tunnel lol.

I spread it over two tray tables to keep the weight and heat off me.. It worked well. I was thinking, hmmm how or what will I do with the yarn.. I have it in a bucket when Im working with it.. So I got some duct tape and stuck it to one of the tables..lol

Had some rain here, not a lot tho.. but its quite humid

Thought it was prisoner Kuaka, but I remembered one of the nasty matrons on young Drs and thought it may have been her.

I have added two rows to my blanket.. using the tray tables is making it much easier.
Ive also done 30 rows on my scarf Im knitting..I had one mistake when I wrote out the pattern, so I waited for the correct pattern.. doing 2ply on 5mm needles is hard to get used to lol..

Have started joining some more squares tho, Cos Id like to have that finished by the end of this week.. And I have to decide if I want a border or not.

Kuaka maybe you should ring them and ask about the results, ist a long time to wait and not know.

not sure if she will or not popeye, they did for Maddy. Now to dig out the patterns I didn't get to knit for Maddy but have stashed away. Am glad I have done some winter knitting for Maddy already so can knit baby things for a while. Am so excited, mrK is thrilled and son is pretty excited too. My dad is thrilled to bits as well, this baby gives him more bragging rights with his friends lol.

A friend of mine did a pregnancy test yesterday and is pretty sure she is positive. But will double check with the dr.. so the babys will be close.

Warm and wet here, not a breath of wind.

Have to pop up the supermarket this morning. They have chicken and Missy bikkies on special so Ill stock up with a bit extra.. and get some potatoes which I forgot the other day.

Then back to work on the blanket.. I have ends to do on two rows, and join them, hopefully done before lunch then Ill add those to the main piece. Then I will knit some of the scarf.

Morning ladies, thick fog and sunshine here this morning, so I think the fog will go shortly. Have to alter all the clocks, only when you have to do this do you realise just how many you have.

Fell asleep in the chair again last night and woke with a stiff neck which is still sore. That's my excuse for having a lazy day today, although I might do the ironing that I "forgot" to do yesterday.

Going to put a piece of corned beef in the crockpot for tea tonight, and if son does bring snapper we can either have the corned beef for sandwiches at lunchtime or we can have the fish tomorrow. At least I'll have something organised and won't be cooking half the afternoon.

Another nice day so need to get lawns done unless weather changes.

Found pattern for baby/children vest similar to milo but front buttoning, very easy and quick to do so will use up some of my spare balls of wool and do a few for charity as a break before starting on things for the next baby.

Morning ladies, had a lovely visit from my son yesterday, he stayed for two or three hours, and left with some capsicums out of my garden and gave us enough snapper for last night and tonight, so that's awesome. Fresh fish. Yum.

He was quite shocked at Mr Ks appearance and said he will be back in two weeks time.

Discovered a leak in the workshop yesterday, not really sure where the water is getting in. Took some photos and sent them to Paul, who of course would love to sort it for me but can't (bit difficult when he's in Sydney). Have a friend and her husband calling in this afternoon to see if he can advise me, otherwise might have to call in a builder. That won't be a cheap exercise. I'm so used to Mr K doing these sort of fix-it jobs it's a bit difficult accepting that he can no longer do them.

Anyway looks like being a beautiful day so might just do some gardening/tidying up outside today, but first have to go and check the mail.

Morning everyone

Been raining here but the sun is out now. Not cold by any means.

I have 3 rows to do. Yay. My goal for the day is to get all the squares joined and ends sewn in.. the last row being all red will save time in the joining too, Not changing colours etc.
I want it done by Friday.
MrP is doing well... getting better everyday.

Yum fresh fish...Hopefully they will have some crumbed fish this shopping day.
Kuaka its the same here My stepfather and MrP used to do all our building decorating etc.. I shudder to think what builders charge these days

Damp day here again.
Had car in for battery check trying to work out why it went flat when I left it for a month but all systems came back as working ok so just hope it is ok when I have to leave it for a month in June. They didn't charge me for the check up so that was a bonus.
Finished a couple more little tops so now must get buttons on them all and taken to the medical centres that I give them to as the weather is getting cooler.
Have some pale green 4ply so want to get on with that.

No rain here, but there was a wicked dark cloud with blue on top of and underneath it.. I should have taken a photo.

The kids at the school across from us are getting excited.. They are turning up for school early too. But its their Gala day on Saturday and its always a blast. haps to do, heaps to buy..

Ive got 1 row to do.. Joining the two pieces and sew in the ends and its finished.. I will post a pic cos Ill have to decide whether to put a row of border on it or not.

I cant wait to start on my next one. Definitely going through a blanket stage lol
I hopefully will get the bag of wool I got from destasher's , today. Even tho I know whats coming its still nice when it arrives.

Have to pop up the road before I get to crochet tho

Morning ladies, much cooler his his morning but probably going to be another nice day.

Yesterday I excelled myself and did some gardening, ripped out the dwarf beans, pruned a punga and removed the ivy from a rustic seat (the left-over stump from Mr Ks tree-felling exercise which he shaped into a seat). Then I went round the other side of the house and pulled out heaps of dead creeper of some sort which was just a big tangled mess. The lawn mower man is coming today and wants to discuss his next gardening efforts. He does two hours a month, he could probably do 40 to get it looking good.

Need to go to town this morning to get a repeat of Mr Ks morhpine tabs and check the mail. Undecided about going to my usual Tuesday afternoon mah jong. Didn't go last week. See how Mr K feels closer to the time.
