Sometimes, it's just about how you ask the question

Welcome to the Coin Club. We are an assortment of newbies and oldbies, amateurs and experts with questions and answers for oldbies and newbies, amateurs and experts in coin collecting, also known as numismatics. Whether you are just getting started, have been collecting for years or have simply found some old coins about the place that you’d like to sell, this is the place to ask your questions.

No one has all the answers, and you may get five differing answers to the same question, yet each may be right in a manner of speaking, especially if opinions are involved. Opinions often vary. If you receive no answer to your query within 48 hours, please ask again

Why are you asking why it's a Bahama mule?

translateltd - 2019-01-22 07:08:00

it's called a plaintive why!

I could not help but notice that antique.buyers has 24 new listings, when I know for a fact from recent history they usually list 25 at a time. It's like there is one missing!

They had 103 items, I bought 79 of them ,hence the 24 that are the new listings on TM

if one of the 79 was a BU bahama mule I'll take it off your hands for 2x what you paid for it!(?)

Yes, these later ones in BU condition are exceptional and will command a US$400 to US$500 price tag off shore
Are you related to the Hunt Brothers by chance , am sure you have the market cornered on these mule coins

A large accumulator of precious metals is correct
I'll focus on the gold and silver still, but will also be a collector of the copper Bahama mules
Had a coffee with the boss of Antique Buyers today and am off to a great start with the mules.

On a more cheerful note, how many collectors of the Bahamas Mule have also collected the Bahamas 1967 5cent that the die was made for?
I have more of them than the mules, so may have to buy a few to even things out. I also have a nice error Bahamas Mule with a clip.

Many thanks for this - got all except these last two. Could you upload clear pics of each side and let me know the diameter & mintage (if known) pse?

Off-metal strikes aren't impossible but they'd be rarer than the gold ones, surely. Nothing in my Schön 19th century catalogue, and no time to check the many auction catalogues of French oddities from CGB, unfortunately. If you're genuinely interested, you could check with the folks at cgb.fr, as I'm sure they would know one way or the other.

1, you can ask seller as am sure will give an honest answer with 100% feedback on 463,396 sales
2, No, that is a private matter between close mates.Think the cessation of new weekly listings for them is a good enough answer

1. could do, but from previous experience with this particular seller he is probably too busy to reply, and likely doesn't know any more about it than we do.

2. well if it was private why are you big-noting yourself in here over it, if you don't mind me asking. Shouldn't you be acting with a little more discretion? Do you want me to ask Jess about it? Either way, if it is true (which I doubt) or not, it will make you look like a wannabe big shot carrying on like you are in here.

detail on the eagle's feathers is missing, which seems odd given the level of detail present on the rest of the coin.

lol you are full of it matey! Bahama mules, depending on condition will fetch 70-200 tops in USD in overseas auctions. You obviously have no idea what you are talking about. Here's a tip for you: stick to your soulless bullion and leave the numismatics to the experts!!

I asked about the GST rebate once and the conditions were silly - everything had to be in a single purchase rather than separate transactions, and had to be carried with you, not in checked luggage, for example. That was just after Oz introduced its GST so maybe things have changed, but at the time it sounded like they were having a laugh so I just left.

Wouldn't surprise me - I've dealt with correspondence from tax offices in various countries as part of my day job and they don't make it easy. I fail to see how having X dollars worth of purchases in several transactions is any different from spending the same amount in a single transaction, though - it's still the same amount being spent, and the same amount of tax involved.

translateltd - 2019-02-21 08:41:00
9249

I think you can have multiple receipts; but each has to be over a minimum level. And from recollection, they dock a service fee off each receipt/claim - not 1 fee for your bunch of receipts.

Can any or a few of you coin dealers tell me if im listing my sets/coins too high in price?
