Good afternoon ladies, well I thought I would sleep well last night as I was physically, mentally and emotionally exhausted but I slept till 3.33 (weird how I keep waking at these "odd" times, usually 2.22, 3.33 or 4.44 !) but couldn't get back to sleep, dozed off around 6 and was thinking about getting up when a friend phoned at 10 to see how we got on at the hospital yesterday. It is so dark in my room I had no idea how late it was, can't see the clock till I put the light on.

Anyway Mr K is still in bed, he says he feels lousy and has told me that he's going to go quickly and I must get out as much as I can but don't go too far away in case I need to get home in a hurry. Not sure if that makes me feel better or worse.

Got to decide what to do with my almost finished blanket. I'll put up a pic later. I think I'm going to finish it and do the border in the same colour so it will have a little triangle on one corner the same as the border, and with the little scrap that's left from the main part, I'll crochet a flower and sew on. Have to decide whether to use plain cream or white with sparkles. I'll ask you ladies for your opinion once I take the pic.

Right, I'm going to have my coffee then wash the kitchen floor and the rest of the wood floors, and then have to nip to town for a few bits.

I think the cream Kuaka, it wont be soo "Bold" as the white would be.. And I do like the idea of a flower on it.. Will you be able to use one of the colours in the blanket for the flower? Love the colours.

I think MrK is depressed and given up.. Makes it very hard for you to live with .. You will have heaps of different emotions to get through..

Take good care of you.. Do you have a medical alarm? Maybe you could get one and have your mobile as one of the numbers to call.

One day at a time is all you should be thinking about now, trying not to stress about too much else.

MrP is doing soo well, and he toddled off for his afternoon nap with no arguments.. Missy actually slept on his bed with him.

Yep popeye, he has an alarm. Unfortunately the friend that he says I should spend more time with is going away from the end of March till May, so I won't have her support for five weeks. Never mind. Another friend phoned this afternoon and asked if there was anything he could do to help, even offered to come round and cook a meal for us. Awesome to have such good friends. I will battle on and do my best to take care of me as well as Mr K.

Cream it is. The little bit of yarn left over looks to be mainly cream/green so I'll make a flower and sew it on. Might be a tiny bit of pink lurking in there too.

Right, going to crochet the flower, looks like that scrap of yarn is just green, creamy/yellow and white. Then use plain cream to finish it. I'll put up a pic when it's finished and you can let me know what you think.

Pouring with rain here - I don't say this often, but I'm pleased I'm not on holiday and camping!

Was a very busy day yesterday in the classroom but all good.

Blimmen men eh kuaka, they get these ideas in their heads and often it's hard to shift! I agree with popeye, you need to take care of yourself first.
And I also agree with the cream lol.

Good mrP is doing what he is suppose to Popeye :)

I bet the bruise is still coming out in your hand carole, will take a while for it to settle down.

I didn't get to have another look at the pattern so today will have a tutu again with it and see how I go. After I have done the housework and gone into town for a few things.

Im sure the flower will look lovely Kuaka... And yep there are times when we are glad not to be doing something we enjoy.

Im going to have a lazy day today.. I need to check my tally on the squares, cos I think Ive lost track a little and I don't want to do too many. I did 10 yesterday which was good.

Ive banned myself from looking at patterns, I already have too many things I want to do lol.

MrP had another good night..He has admitted he now knows why I still rave about the staff etc in the heart ward. I will get some thank you cards and send next week.

Morning ladies, well I started using the cream and discovered that even though it's dk, it's a different brand and seems quite a bit thicker, so don't think I like it. Might frog it and try the white, which feels more like the thickness of the multi-coloured stuff, even though I think the cream will look better. I had a go at the flower last night and couldn't for the life of me remember how to do one. Ridiculous. I've done hundreds over the years. Will have to find a pattern. I shall be pleased to see the back of this blanket.

No plans for today other than put the washing out which I washed yesterday (got one lot dry then it chucked it down) I'll have to deal with the kitty litter 'cos I put that out on the deck for an airing and forgot it when it rained, so it got all soggy! Puss didn't approve.

Might have a casserole for tea and while the oven is on, make a banana cake using some really ripe bananas I bought yesterday specially for it. Also use some of them to tempt my little wax eyes back, they usually arrive around May but were here the other day and I had no ripe bananas for them, so they didn't stay.

Mr K is very quiet again, it must be the morphine tablets, they seem to be working and keeping the pain under control.

Right I'll do a few things on here, and then get some breakfast.

It's my "little boy's" birthday today - he's 48. Makes me feel very old.

Well all I can say is "suffering cats!" Went to start sewing my new elephant together and found that the two pieces of the trunk and part of the head are different. No idea whether the left or right side is correct, so I guess I will have to just follow the pattern carefully and make another one, and hope it matches one of the pieces I already have, otherwise I will have to make two new bits. Grrrrr!

Hope all goes well with you Marywea.. The coronary care untis are my fave place in hospitals.. They will be able to tell you how you will feel each day.. Are you having a bovine or mechanical valve?

marywea, all the best for Monday. Mr K is still in bed, but he's got a visitor at the moment (the young friend who offered to come and cook a meal has come to see him).

Re the elephant, I suspect the second piece I did where it says "reverse shapings" is probably the one that's wrong. I had planned to do another elephant, with the same multicoloured yarn, but a different colour ears and underbelly, so not really a biggie, just that I wanted to get it sewn up and stuffed, and now I'm knitting bits again.

Seems that just lately nothing goes according to plan, or as it should do. Maybe my mind just isn't on it.

Anyway tea is cooking nicely and I've made a banana cake, which has risen so much I think I will have trouble getting it out of the oven. Smells really yummy.

Good luck for Monday marywea, my husband has had two AVRs now and is much better for them. You won't know yourself! The cardiac care staff at Waikato were fabulous both times.

I've figured out the pattern, read it through once yesterday and the penny dropped. Sometimes it pays to leave things a day or two and let things mull over in my mind. I'll buy the cotton next week so I can start.

Morning everyone.
We are soo lucky we have fantastic hospitals here. Imagine the costs if we had to pay like America. I knot when I had mine replaced they said it was $23k and MrPs was $40K.. We wouldn't be living long if we had to pay for it.

Well I did 14 squares yesterday I have now done 299.. Yay only 62 to go. Well 63 cos I want one of each left so I can decide which colour will be the middle one. Not bad considering I started on Feb 4th.

Yep Kuaka your mind wont be on whats in your hands... One day at a time..

Taking MrP to the supermarket this morning for a wee walk around.

Morning ladies, well I managed to nod off last night in the chair and missed the last few minutes of Coro St and then when I went to bed fell asleep sitting up reading, woke about an hour later, still sitting up, glasses still on, kindle had switched itself off. And still managed to sleep till after 8.30. Mr K still in bed, very quiet. He hasn't been out of bed since he came home from the hospital except to go to the loo.

No plans for today, I've frogged the cream on the blanket (sorry ladies, I know you preferred it to the white but it was just so much thicker it looked odd) and have started the white, which I don't like the look of as much but it's the same thickness so is better. Will try to make another elephant trunk today and try to crochet a flower.

The cake rose till it just touched the top of the oven but I got it out without breaking it and it was yummy (make that is, 'cos we've only had one slice each so far). I might cut a chunk off it and freeze it as I don't think we will get through it before it goes hard.

More washing to do today - don't know where it all comes from and as it's Sunday I shall try to relax as much as possible.

Slow start for the day with coffee and a bit of knitting now must clean car so can take it to get battery checked tomorrow. Then rest of day will take it as it comes.

Thank-you for your messages. Popeye it will be pig or cow so no warferin needed. I pay massive health insurance and will be having the op. privately though public would have suited me fine apart from the likelihood of being bumped. Cost is now $70,000.00. A couple of friends have been bumped to private. An hour to pick-up-bumping almost seems like a good idea to me now!! See you later.

morning ladies :) All the very best for today marywea, MrK has the St Jude's mechanical valve so needs the warfarin, my MIL when alive, had the pig one.

Today it's car wash day lol, the car is filthy from the maize dust. Will clean the inside first then cheat and put it through the car wash in town. Will be much easier than finding missed bits and having to go back and clean it again. There is also a spider hiding in the door mirrors so need to get rid of him too.

Will do some crafting this afternoon :)

Morning everyone.. Wow the price has gone up a lot then.. Mine was 9 years ago and $23K... I had the choice of the pig or St Judes valve. The dr told me the pig ones wear out at about 10-13 years.. and all I thought about was the possibility of having to replace it a few more times before I popped off.
Had I known something like what MrP had was coming Id have gone with the pig one. They use a cow valve on the Tavi valve thingees.

I have 49 squares left to do.. 25 red and 24 white... Ohh plus which ever I chose for the middle. so its not going to take long at all. Should be finished by the weekend, depending on what else we have to do.
Have to take MrP to the drs tomorrow but Ill take my hook and yarn with me.

I have another design, which came to me when I was writing up my diary last night, so I wrote and drew it in there, so I wouldn't forget.
And I also had an Idea pop into my head for the Christmas tree Ornament swap this year.. so I will start making those at some stage too..

Not sure if everyone knows the price of stamps are going up in July, to $1.. so if you want to save a little money at Christmas time , get Kiwi stamps now... NZ post is going to kill their own business if you ask me.. People will send emails rather than letters and cards.

Washing is done, next to no dishes to do.. And the floor can wait.. So Im going to crochet again..

Morning ladies, another late start to the day, nothing much planned, I already have a piece of corned beef in the crockpot, I could hear Mr K groaning in bed, I went and asked him was he due for a tablet and he said he'd just had one, so he should quieten down shortly. I hate hearing him in pain.

Have to go to town later for milk and check the mail, might nip into the op shop and see if they have any bargains!

I have frogged the white sparkly on the blanket as I found another white which is more of an off-white and is more like the colour of the white in the multi-coloured yarn, so I've now finished that corner. Just have to do the border and a flower or two. I've also finally nutted out the problem with the elephant trunk. Where I was supposed to increase on every knit row, I had increased on every row, so that bit was shorter, then at the top I was supposed to decrease on every row, and I decreased on every knit row so that bit was longer. Just wondering if it would work if I cast on as the pattern says and started with a purl row instead of a knit and then just followed the pattern, doing the increase/decrease at the beginning of every knit or every other knit row. What do we think?

Thought I'd have an easy tea last night. Left over casserole for Mr K and something out of the freezer for me. So a saucepan for the casserole, a saucepan for the potatoes, a saucepan for the greens, then I realised I'd burnt the spuds, so transferred them to another saucepan so I could mash them, then I had to use a frying pan to reheat my spanish chicken, so my easy meal ended up using 4 saucepans and a frying pan. Not impressed.

oh dear kuaka, you are stressed! I would give it go with the increase/decrease, you could always frog it lol. Bet you will be pleased to see the back of that blanket. Sometimes things go smoothly and others times....

Only the north side of the house to wash down now so not much more to do. I wash the house down twice a year every year (spring and autum) and now MrK decides to tell me how to do it. men eh!

I get my time out by going off to our oppy too.. I leave everything at the door as I walk in.. and pick it up on the way out.. When im in there I don't have any worries in my head. Takes practice tho...

Housework is hazardous to ones health Kiwimade.. MrK should have learnt that by now.. if hes not carefull he will accidentally get wet,, or be given the hose to show how to do the rest of it lol.

My shoulder didn't like the heavy clothes basket, I need to figure out how to unpinch the nerve

My the mornings are getting darker now, hadn't taken much notice until I had to get up a bit earlier today.

Part way down second sleeve of small Jersey and looks like I'll not have quite enough wool, quite annoying as don't really want another ball of brown wool as was using up left overs anyway but seems I will need to get some more. Finally found buttons for Cardy I knitted a while ago brought 6 then find I need 7 so a trip back to town for that later.
Have started a stripey jersey for small girl too.

How frustrating jayemtoo - both the buttons and the wool. Hope you don't have to go far to get the extras.

Mr K is still in bed, he still hasn't been up and dressed since coming home. I'm not sure whether to leave him be or push him to get up. I fear if he stays in bed too long he will just get weaker, seize up and get pneumonia.

Sister phoned last night, she is very upset, my niece has just been told she's got bladder cancer. She's 49 next month, and apparently it's quite common in old men, not so common in women, and not in women of her age. Devastating news, apparently she is handling the news well, but her husband is in bits, and the two girls (14 and 16) are very upset, and absolutely nothing I can do to help which is frustrating.

No plans for today. Town to check the mail and then hopefully Mr K is okay to leave on his own for the afternoon so I can go to my usual mah jong afternoon. It's only for 3 hours. Fingers crossed, otherwise if I can't go, I guess I'll have to just sit and knit.

That not good news about Mr K not been at much since been home. By now his Doctor would have had the papers from the hospital and hopefully read them. Give them a ring as you, there help out there you have to ask for it.

Still getting my head around this new computer. Have the computer tech guy coming this morning just to check out a couple of problems.

I have a baby single ,a small blanket and Twiddle Muff on the go at present. Since my fell Sunday week ago I am knitting very little at present. Have stitches out tomorrow, hope I can get on with my knitting and other bites and pieces,

Popeye good to hear your Mr P is doing so well. .What your next knitting/sewing project? What ever it is it will bright and coluorful.

Ohh sunflower, horrible when you have projects on the go and an accident interrupts things. Hope you improve soon.

MrP has had his stitch removed, and dr is very pleased with his progress. hes her first Tavi patient too. she reiterated to him just how special and lucky he is..
I did 2 squares before we left, and did 2 more and started another while waiting, so am getting there..21 to go lol..

Next project is 2 scarves. One will be done in 2ply and is lacy but its a simple patter,. and the other will be done in chunky yarn. So vastly different sized needles... I think Ill do the fine one first.. I don't know that Id want to drop down from massive needles to what would feel like pins lol.

morning ladies :) I was supposed to be weeding dad's garden this morning but by the looks of the weather out there I might just give it a miss today.

Had a fun day yesterday in the classroom with a stray cat making herself at home on my chair all morning. Kids loved it and made for great story writing.

Grocery shopping for me today and I'm going to buy some crochet cotton and maybe some more wool to knit our grandy another jumper, will see what I can find. Will have a look for another 'girly' pattern too.

Buggar, just heard a rat in the ceiling, the Furry One is in the cupboard under the sink so there is a mouse somewhere too. Better check the trap behind the fridge for the mouse and buy some more rat bait on the way home. Always get the little buggars after the maize has been cut.

Yep those rodents will want a nice warm house now... Glad you had a nice time at school Kiwimade.

Its very humid here and overcast.. A good wind but not very cooling.. was sweating just putting my hair up lol.

Ive been out to pick the berries, before the rain arrives.

I managed my highest number of squares yester.. 18.. Oh heck Im lost again, but by my thinking I have 18 to go... I think I best check Again lol... I don't know how I manage to muck up my counting lol.. probably cos I have a total of what Ive done in each colour and how many left to go.. lol

But I will check, I don't want to do too many.

Hoping all has gone well for Marywea. Tomorrow will be her grotty day...

Afternoon ladies, well at 2.30 this morning and still awake, I decided to take half a sleeping pill. Doc reckons it takes 20 to 30 minutes to knock me out and I should have 5 hours sleep. So I figured I'd be asleep by 3 and awake again by 8. Wrong. 4am before I dozed off and when I woke it was 10. Bit of a scramble to have breakfast, give Mr K his breakfast and get ready for knit and natter. I got there late, but I went. So home now, and I've just done the dishes.

Have to do lunch soon, and then might do the ironing.

The queen's not coming today so the housework can wait. I don't feel like doing it.

Kuaka can I asl why you don't take a whole pill at bedtime? Wouldn't that make you sleep just about all night through?

Ive Finished the white squares.. Yippeeeeee... only 9 red to go.

Should only be a few left for me to do tomorrow. Since we have to do the shopping and get our Flu Shots.. That time of year already.

So by early afternoon I should be starting to join a row.

Might start a scarf as well, just to have something to do as a break now.

Popeye, the recommended dose is half a pill, which is supposed to give about 5 hours - I'm guessing if I took a whole pill it would knock me out for 10 hours or more. Grumps always asks why don't they make them half the size. Good point. I don't really like taking them, and only use them when I am having real trouble getting to sleep, but I always hope I'll nod off without taking one. Most sleeping pills are habit forming, and I don't want to rely on them.

morning ladies :) Wow, we had one heck of a wild night and the wind is still blowing hard out. MrK will be pleased lol as he's been hanging out for a wet day to watch movies on Netflix.

I started to crochet a tablecloth last evening and then frogged it as the pattern was still a pain in the butt. I did learn a new technique for extending filet crochet though so not all lost. Then I found another pattern online and started it, got part way round the sixth row to find I had read the pattern wrong lol. So frogged it again. MrK saw me frogging and rolled his eyes, he says I'm the queen of unpicking lol. Will do more today. It will be my third tablecloth, 30 years ago I crocheted two, one for me and another for my MIL. They are both still going strong so worth the time, effort and money to do. Not many tablecloths can stand 30 years of regular wear, tear and washing and still look as good as new.

I'm off into town this morning, will brave the storm. Need/want to buy Easter eggs for our grandy and family.

Morning everyone.
Wow what an awesome nights weather.. The wind has stopped here which is good.. We have to go for our flu shots and MrP is a very slow walker so hopefully it will stay rainless for us to get in and out of the building.

IVE FINISHED.. YAYAYAY... I did 20 yesterday, didnt do much else tho lol...
So in the afternoon I can start putting them together.. I might start the thin scarf , just to have something different to do.

Yeah the sleeping pills can get addictive Kuaka, but at the mo you might need an extra help... I only take mine when I really need to.. Usually if my Brain wont turn off.

The weather hasn't got here yet but they are saying rain this pm. Hope it doesn't decide to come early as going out soon and would like to be able to walk. Also have a full line of washing which is flapping away nicely.

Still haven't got the extra wool I need so that is wherei will be heading as must have it before the weekend.

Guess I know what you will be doing over the long weekend Popeye, will you be able to finish it?

Morning ladies, I slept so soundly last night I didn't hear the wild weather if we had any, but it was certainly rough when I went to town yesterday, blowing a gale on the waterfront. Apparently the passenger ferries between Russell and Paihia weren't running yesterday. It's flat calm today.

Have to go to town later to post a parcel and will go to Countdown for a few groceries, can't be bothered going to Kerikeri today.

Finished my ironing yesterday so might have to do some housework today - but then again, I might decide to leave it for another day.

I crocheted a couple of squares last night for charity. They want them 16cm and when I measured them last night they were close enough. They seem to have shrunk in the night and now measure on 14, so might just go round them again with a row of double crochet or half trebles and see if that fills them out enough. Otherwise I'll frog them. Grrrr.
