I think Im addicted to blankets lol Ive done 194 of the 361 squares in a blanket I designed myself.. Funny thing is the black peggy square blanket I made a couple of years ago, had 194 squares and I thought that was a Mammoth effort. And heres me nearly doubling it lol I didn't do too much yesterday square wise, only 5. but better than nothing. Today will be more tho.. My darling Missy decided to stand on me when I was on my back in bed this morning, right on the soft rib that I used to keep popping off a few of years ago.. And it has come lose again. So a day of rest for it to hopefully find its way back to where it belongs. Its an ache on sitting, but pain on movement. | 9005 | Morning ladies, decidedly cooler here this morning, but not a cloud in the sky so hoping for a lovely day. Yesterday I gave the car a spring clean, inside and out, and then washed the kitchen/dining room floor, so after that it was pretty much sit and knit as I was a bit knackered. Today I plan to wash the Safari, which is huge compared to the little Toyota. I will only do the outside, I'm not tackling all the junk inside (which is cluttered up with "stuff" from when Paul and I worked on the boat - last time I put diesel in it the woman at the service station glanced in the back and asked if I do commercial cleaning - I had to smile - as if - couldn't think of anything worse, although I did do it when I first came to NZ, hated every minute of it) I've finished the possum/merino 2 ply cowl all except for casting off, which I started to do last night, then realised I need to use a bigger needle, so have to un-cast off what I did last night and do it again. My Skeinz parcel arrived yesterday and it's all lovely. Will be keeping it all so my yarn lotto is coming out of my stash. I've got 18 x 50 gm balls all the same and plan to do a blanket with it. Not sure how big it will work out, so might be just a throw, but the colours are lovely, so looking forward to starting that. I am so frustrated at the moment - I have all these wonderful things that I want to do but can't - have had my hand in plaster for 2 weeks and now have a splint on it for another 6 weeks - not allowed to use my thumb AT ALL. | 9009 | Tinybaldone, I know how hard it is for you, not being able to knit or crochet. When I stretched the tendon in my wrist I was off the needles and hooks for a month I think it was, it felt like many months. Now my wrist is good, it doesn't complain a bit with all the crochet Im doing. So it was worth the wait. Ive never ordered from Skeins, but that's likely cos I mostly use acrylic. I have been looking for 2 ply acrylic without much success, so I might have to go to merino, but I don't want anything with mohair in it either. Cos my face flares up when I knit it and certainly cant wear it lol. My friend has been for the tv cabinet, so im pleased that's gone.. She will be back later tho to check out the new tv etc. Some patterns just seem to go faster eh Kiwimade. | 9014 | Morning ladies, well today is D day for washing the Safari, as I put it off again yesterday. Mr K didn't get up till after 2pm, so that was basically the day stuffed. He went back to bed at 6 - it hardly seemed worth getting up. Cooler again this morning, had to put my slippers on for the first time in months. Not a cloud in the sky though so looks like another lovely day. Yes, I agree, it's unbelievable how many buttons I've got and yet I never seem to have the right amount of the right size and colour for anything I make. I have several jars full and several tins, and never can find what I need. I always enjoy buying buttons at Arthur's Emporium. I've never ever seen such a vast array. I finished the hoody and will take pics once the buttons are stitched on. Overall am happy with the result but had a huge 'ooopppssss' in the back. Was stitching the sleeves in and noticed a hole in the back! A knot had come undone so I must have tied it wrong. Had a repair job to do but you would never know - thank goodness for bobbly yarn! This is the first time ever I have done that! Will be more careful next time. Was really annoyed with myself as I always check the knots before knitting. He was wearing it oneday and Mum noticed a mistake in the back. she took it off him. And undid it to fix it. Otherwise it would have driven her potty everytime she saw it. I had a very lazy day yesterday. did One square lol.. Will make up for it today tho. Its overcast and we have a bit of wind. Not cold.. It got quite warm through the night too. Now I better ring the garage to book the car in for its warrant.. And then St Johns to see what we need to do with the alarm, with the power being off all day Saturday. I've just swept the deck and cleaned the outdoor furniture, and done a load of washing, but that's about it, and I don't feel like doing anything much, so that's exactly what I'm going to do - nothing much. Wills it and crochet for a while. Hope everyone is enjoying this pleasant weather, warm but not uncomfortably so and not humid - my sort of weather. Long may it last. I bought petrol from pak n save in Hamilton yesterday for $1.47 a litre. was $1.53 but I got 6c off with my grocery purchases. So cost me a princely sum of $66.77 to fill the car from quarter fill. | 9035 | Morning ladies, no exciting news here, no word from the hospital for Mr K yet, but you will be relieved popeye that Mr P is finally going to have his surgery. Fingers crossed that all goes according to plan. Yes, I saw that Z has 10c a litre off, I suppose I should go and fill the Toyota, it's half full but I could fill it back up. We don't do a big mileage. I filled it just before Christmas and once again since, so I guess it's about every two months on average, unless we do a long trip somewhere which doesn't happen very often. Last month we had two trips to Whangarei and I go to Kerikeri usually 3 times a month. Knit and natter for me this morning so I had better get A into G. Was really tired last night as I hardly slept at all the night before, was almost 6am when I dozed off, so consequently I didn't do the dishes last night, and nobody else has done them, so I need to do them before breakfast. Groan. It looks like it's going to be another fabulous day, the sea is like glass, would be a perfect day to go out to the boat, but I'm knitting instead, and the tide is already turned and dropping, so that's no good. | 9043 | Good morning ladies, talking of new cars, a friend of mine bought a brand new car about two weeks ago (well her husband did - she's happy with her 20 year old one and said she was almost too scared to drive the new one in case she put a scratch on it). Anyway they went away last weekend and I asked how how the car performed and she sheepily said "it's defunct". Apparently it just stopped while she was driving in to town one evening, and he had to come and tow her home with the old heap. She "thinks" that he has inadvertly put diesel in it - and of course it's a petrol engine. Oops! Hope that doesn't void their warranty. Shopping today. Taking a friend and we will visit one of the op shops and then go out to the spca and donate some hand knitted dog jackets for their craft market. I just want white or off-white. I must make a note of the shade for next time. We have a Harley-Davison get together in town for the next day or so, huge marquee on the village green and countless Harleys roaring past out place on the way to town. Seeing as there's only two roads in to town, one from the north and one from the south there's a good chance a lot of them will be going past our place. They were expecting in excess of 2000 bikes.
