850 Yes I like this year's Christmas stamps too. It's nice to have both traditional and children's art. I think the worst issue was the 2004 Christmas food. Ugly in my opinion!

SAFE TRADER Does SAFE TRADER work well for payments of philatelic material from overseas ?
Any comments from the tried and tested ?

861 1st thing - bump. 2nd thing -philafarinz I've been trying to find a particular MS from the Gambia for years. It's a modern-ish one though, can you help if I give you details? 3rd thing - where am I going to get a US pre-cancel catalogue? 4th thing, I'll back you up with NZ Post Don as long as I don't have to go to Wanganui !

1st - thanks, 2nd & 3rd 2nd - Gambia modern I do not entertain, sorry. I might find what you are looking for during my IA -travels though and US pre-cancel catalogue you would find on the major IA.de site or on US sites. US pre-cancels are fairly popular in Germany judging by wants.
Will contact you when sources are found.
Have you placed a 'WANTED' on this site regarding the catalogue ?

We have 1 full set and one part set of NZ stamps from 1855 up to and including 1990. Some mint, some used. We are moving overseas permanently, & would like to sell these in NZ. We have spoken to Len Jury and Auckland Stamp co, but neither are able to commit before early/mid next year. Could somebody please point us in the right direction as to whom we should be contacting? Thanks in advance.

Sell on an Internet auction Site ! Dealers or prospective buyer want to SEE what they will be paying for.
You may know what you want. Put on on auction with a few photos and lots of detail.
Maybe you get lucky.

Good point, but there's hundreds of pages. You're right, people will want to see them & I wouldn't expect most of the serious collectors would be trawling through an internet auction site (I may be wrong!). I was hoping that someone may know of a company or person who specialised in this type of collection. Cheers

Hi Donaldo These are in 3 Sammler Kennen KA-BE albums. Pre 1940 - tha album is complete exceopt for 2 stamps in the 1931-59, 35 shilling orange and Victoria Land 1910 halfpenny. There are extra sets of 1906 commemorative and 1909 sideface men. Also 2 extra 6penny imperforated 1855. There are various "spares". I see you are in Rotorua, if you are genuinely intersted, we would be happy to come & show you this collection.

Donaldo We really have no idea of its value. It was given to my wife by her uncle. We really don't want to transport this overseas. I would imagine the Australian market for NZ stamps is minimal. Do you have any idea of its value as a purchaser? Realising it's hard to value something you haven't seen, we are happy to bring it to you.

Donaldo The older stamps are in average condition. The albums have always been kept in a dry area. This brings us back to my original question, are you aware of anyone who would be interested in these?

Hi philafarinz Hmmm must be good and avoid the idea of "wanted" on the forum ! If you happen to come across however a MS from Gambia based on movie "A League of Their Own" we could talk. I managed to get an update for a precancel catalogue a while ago but as an update it made about as much sense as having CP updates without the CP catalogue ! Tried "precancels.com" before I went to US in September but they couldn't be bothered replying. Cheers !

Tarapex dealer menu #1 re the menu done for the dealers dinner that had specially overprinted examples of the exhibition CAL issues
I wonder if it is legal to overprint a NZ CAL stamp???
Do you need permission
and if so did they have it??

Does the PO have a policy on this. Guess I should ask them but thought someone may have already done so.

will the menu CAL open a can of worms - and there be semi-private overprints for anything and everything.
I guess I could arrange for a new overprint for the mailings of each week [eg WEEK 5 and next week WEEK6]

Tarapex dealer menu #2 Similar dealer booklet items in Australia are not highly regarded - yes they are [were] eagerly purchased by keen private booklet collectors but now collectors seem to be a lot more cynical.
They are seen as items that the the dealers can resell immediately and hence cover the cost of the dinner ticket.
Maybe we could overprint a CAL next time we go out to dinner
Some dealers helped to kill phonecards by such limited issues both in Australia and in NZ.
Cal collecting has been a breath of fresh air for many - the thrill of the search etc. The PO has been wise to make them available to everyone at cost
I just hope such overprinting developments don't kill the CAL collectors for a few pieces of 'Silver'.
Yes I am happy to have such an item in my collection but we should keep on eye out for the writing on the wall.
Any thoughts

Value of stamps? Hi. This is my first time in here to ask a question. I have my elderly grandfather's stamp and coin collection in my care as he is in a rest home. He wants it with him but I am not sure if any of the stamps or coins are worth anything and do not want them lost or damaged if I take them to the rest home. How do I find out if any of them are valuable so I can remove them and let him have the rest? He has a bad memory and is often confused, so I am worried he will give them away, lose them or damage them, but he wants them to look at. Any advice gratefully received.

Payment instructions and delivery address What do other say !?

It is to the seller's advantage to indicate staight off with the sale of the item to indicate Payment Instructions.

With many buyers however the delivery address is often requested buy the buyer to sometimes much messaging to get results.

To indicate a delivery address should be prompted by TH with an option button for the buyer YES/NO.

Would result in less mail traffic and seller stress.

Delivery Address helps Notifying the Seller with the Delivery Address same as Payment Instructions, speeding up the trade.
