I have been going through this thread for about a week and do a little bit of writing each day in my notebook anyway I cant believe there are so many ideas, I made the laundry liquid today, I havent used it yet but will do tomorow.
I have one great tip, my daughter loves spaghetti and sometimes she gets it all over her top and to get it off I scrap the excess then spray my mixture on it. I will put it in another post

Stain remover I make up a mixture of water and dishwash liquid in a spray bottle and spray it on Fresh Stain and give it a scrub with old toothbrush. Works for me, hope it works for you guys, I use it on all clothes and never had an issue, just dont scrub it hard with the toothbrush. Then rinse it off.

I made the laundry liquid and used it today, it is great, I add a little bit more lux to the mix and it seems a good mix for us, and I have just put a tiny bit of commecial washing powder in for the smell until i get some essential oils but will do this on thursday when I got to the mall. So happy for these ideas, wish there was more, I wana fill my budgets and household hints book now, if you google JAMMY it is a great site that has ideas on making art to sell and household items

A tip for doubling vinegar for use. If you use alot as I do for chutneys etc you may like this tip for doubling your vinegar. Tip 1/2 bottle into another bottle and fill with water. Leave in a light warm place for 24 hrs and you will hve full strength vinegar. You can do this up to 3 times with the same vinegar.
I haven't tried this myself yet, just read it now off another site

I am doing the relay for life in March to help raise money for the cancer society, if you dont know what the relay for life is it is a 24 hour walk a thon you get a group together and walk segments of the 24 hours good fun and a good way to raise money. 80% of all moneys raised go towards cancer research. I am asking everyone here if they will help my donation by adding to my telly, whter it be $2 or $5 if I have helped you in anyway over the past 4 years in this thread or others please be generous and give back.
Cheques can be made out to the cancer society nz and posted to me at work, or you can buy one of my pen auctions, you can get a pen if you want it but it is just a way of you getting you in touch with me.Its a good cause & we all know one person who has suffered by it.

"Keep your receipts" ladies. For every $10 you donate to KOB for Breast Cancer Research (or any other charity), you get $3 back from the government... a really straight forward form http://www.ird.govt.nz/income-tax-individual/end-year/dch-re
bates/claim-rebate/
I claim it just after 31st March and have it back in my account in about 2 weeks. Out of the $540 School "donation" I always pay... I make sure I pay before the 31st March and I get $162 refunded. One year I paid it on my visa card and had the refund before the bill needed paying. I keep every receipt over $5 and once a year I get a nice little "treat" from the government (completely seperate to my IR3). Just have an envelope somewhere safe and pop them in... it soon adds up. Last year it was a "Movember" here, a "40 Hour famine" there... and with the big one "school donations" it certainly adds up.

A good friend of mine had a birthday today and I have had a really quiet week at work, bearing in mind I only get paid for what I work I did a 6 hour week instead of a 15-20 Ouch, thats got to effect the wallet. So on the way home I grabbed some flax and spent a couple of hours making a bunch of flowers.... She was absolutely rapt with them and all it took was time - no money! http://images.trademe.co.nz/photoserver/18/87837218_full.jpg

went to see Slumdog millionare last night.. talk about a bargain, we had 2 free tickets & popcorn because of our Yuno cards and just paid $7 for Miss 14. Got a 2 for 1 coffee at esquires and the real bonus was the yuno swiper was not working so we still have 2 free tickets and popcorn for this 2 month period. Anyone living near a Berkeley cinema should look into these cards they are good value. 2 free (non Comp) movies plus popcorn every 2 months (6 in total) and never pay more than $7 children and $11 adults. They are valid for 6 months and cost $40. Movie was good as well... Have a great day all. JB

My brother moved to Darwin a few years ago. And it was ridiculous sending cheques across the water for birthdays, his is on the 1st of March & mine is on the 30th March. So a few years ago I said to him, how about you buy something for yourself from me and I will buy something for myself from you... It works fantastically. This year I "apparently" brought him an external hard drive... generous arn't I (last year I "brought" him a DVD recorder). And this year (as he has for the last couple) he has renewed my subsription to "The Healthy Food Guide" and the twist on the tale is I used Flybuys for it so it cost me nothing!! We are just consolidating after a huge 6 week holiday, hubby is self employed so goes unpaid when we take time off. So every little thing helps when watching the pennies.

Fundraising My daughter, Miss 14 is off for an exchange trip to Singapore in 2 weeks arrgghhh (nervous Mum) and I have made sure she has fundraised, A - its the right thing to do, she needs to contribute, & B - Everything she raises we don't have to cover. So far she has made $400 selling chocolates and now she has approached local businesses for donations and has those listed on trade me at the moment. Good on her I say as she didn't want to do chocolates again in this heat and the auctions could make her as much as an order of chocolates.

TVP - Textured Soy Protein Mince
Found this with google.........
A versatile food product derived from soybeans, these TVP granules are a fantastic quick meat substitute for a multitude of meals. Great for pasta sauces, in tacos, for making your own veggie burgers, meat loaf or soy meat balls, wherever you need a hearty addition, TVP is the solution!
TVP is high in protein, fibre and iron and completely free of cholesterol and fat. It has a chewy consistency similar to meat and will take on the flavour of whatever

re the TVP (textured vegetable protein) posting please GOOGLE it before you actually buy it. I have a family of 9 at home and was going to buy it BUT it actually has carcinogenic properties (cancer) so PLEASE research this before you compromise money for health peoples :-)

Hi happy If you look at a picture I've uploaded, (may need to put your view zoom up a bit) You can see an example of a weekly food plan for us. 2 adults one baby. THis might give you an idea for where to start for making your own one. I did ours in excell, and made up 4 weeks worth to rotate them. ____ http://images.trademe.co.nz/photoserver/85/89427085_full.jpg

Happylonglife... please don't take this the wrong way, but you get out of life what you put in. I don't think its fair for you to expect to be "spoon fed" as such. Ange164 has given you a great template, just duplicate this and change it to things that you enjoy and make your shopping list from this. What I would do first is get comfortable, make yourself a coffee and read this thread.. all 800+ posts and then any specific questions ask away.... Good Luck.

HOMEMADE SHAMPOO ..seriously cheap
and seriously fantastic..i didnt think it would be very good to be honest - but it's FAB! This works very well. Say goodbye to all those expense hairdresser shampoos. It’s great for dandruff too. Dissolve a tablespoon of bicarb soda in a cup of warm water. If you’ve got children, it might be better doing this in a squirt bottle. Wet hair thoroughly and apply the mixture to the hair, massaging it in well. To rinse, just run water through your hair, or you could use a splash of vinegar. The vinegar smell will go when your hair is dry. You’ll be amazed at how good your hair feels. It will be clean and healthy. This is an excellent shampoo for long and frizzy hair or short hair.
