morning ladies :) Hospital would have been the best place carole, glad you are home now.

We have a really thick fog this morning, makes for a lovely cool morning too. Housework for me today then crafting.

Our students arrive Monday and Sunday we are off to babysit our grandy so our daughter and her partner can go to the movies and dinner for Valentines Day. MrK is plodding on with putting the weatherboards up around the porch and I must admit, is doing a really good job of it. I'll be able to paint soon.

Happy knitting :)

Morning everyone. Ohh send the fog up here Kiwimade.

Lovely to see romance is still alive and well.

Hope you feel better soon Carole.

Very warm here.. Im off to do my INR when Ive played on here and eaten breakie. Then Ill go to New World and get the oil and vinegar bottle set I saw yesterday, red and white of Course and only $5. They had heaps so if Im meant to have one, there will be some left.

Ive done 30 squares soo far. I figure to cut the monotony ill do two balls of each colour then change.

Have an icky hip and shoulder today so I think Ill sit and craft.

Have a good day everyone

Morning ladies, hope you're feeling better soon carolev.

It's quite warm here already (not like yesterday when I decided it wasn't hot enough to go for a swim and instead went shopping with a friend only for it to end up stinking hot - dropped the friend off at another friends swimming pool and rather wished I was staying too - never mind. We bought a few bargains at a couple of op shops). Then I mowed the little lawn. Takes me all of five minutes.

Today I have a dress to alter for a lady, I'd like to do some weeding and I might take the recyclables to the tip, then coffee this afternoon with a friend.

I'm halfway on my Amish puzzle ball. Hope when it's finished I can put it together. It's in 3 pieces.

Enjoy your day everyone.

GRRR... Im sticking to TM for selling things on... The lady who swore she wouldn't let me down re Bruno has just got back to me, two days after she was going to pick up, to say she doesn't want it now.

Will be listing things tomorrow..

On the good side I have crochet 10 squares so far today, so Im pleased with that

8856

Oh that's a bit of a bummer popeye, I've only sold one thing on fb and it was a bright lime green and luminous pink owl tea cosy. It was a request and I thought after I'd done it "they'll never buy it" but they did and were thrilled to bits with it. I must admit it is a combination I quite like and it looked quite startling.

morning ladies still not well so no crafts for me

carolev - 2016-02-13 06:53:00

morning ladies :) What a pain popeye, it should sell here though.

I have some bananas that need using so I'll bake a cake with them this morning and get the ironing done. Dad said something the other day about visiting today and he likes his home baking.

The motor in our water pump burned out yesterday, MrK said he'll have a look at it this morning but we may need to get the electrician out. Thank goodness it's only the motor and not the actual pump as the last repair bill for the pump was $3000. A sparky bill if MrK can't fix it won't be quite so bad. And we have plenty of water so it can wait until next week if need be.

Am hoping I can do some stitching today :)

happy knitting :)

phew!!! MrK has just handed me a bolt that had sheared off the motor. So replace that and all is good again.

Morning
What a relief Kiwimade, a lot cheaper than a tradie call out.

Just back from a "training" walk/jog Im quite enjoying the challenge but the knees and hip are not so keen on it, but a good rub with emulgel helps. Wonder if they drug test for round the bays lol.

Finished the little girls top now looking for a bit different boys one to do, won't know gender of child until it arrives so will do something for each. Was a lot easier in the past when all newborns just wore white!

I find my back and hips hurt when walking too jayemtoo so bought some 'walking' shoes from a sports shop and that made such a difference. I walk 'rolling' my feet inwards and all I needed was proper support. OMG sports shoes are expensive... next time I'll be looking online!

kiwimade64 - 2016-02-13 09:12:00

Morning ladies, another late start to the day. Kiwimade, water pump problems can be so expensive so it was lucky it was easily fixed by Mr K.

No plans for today, except maybe the ironing (or some of it) before it gets too hot, and possibly alter the dress that I didn't alter yesterday. Have to nip to town at some stage too, other than that I just might, (big "might") do the vacuuming. Groan!

I'm quite pleased with the progress I'm making on the garden but I can't do any more till I get some compost as whats in our compost bin isn't ready, then I can put some fertiliser in and plant my new veg garden extension. Not sure what I'll put in it yet, maybe more dwarf beans before it's too late. I have plenty of time to decide.

Almost finished my Amish puzzle ball, then I should get back to the baby horse blanket!

Have a super day everyone.

Morning everyone.
So pleased the water pump motor is fixed Kiwimade.. two places we have lived in, rented thank goodness had troubles with the pumps. I wouldn't have wanted to pay the repair bills.

Ive decided in my not so wiseness to bake. Theres not a breath of wind so it will be a hot job. But Im going to be making two batches of biscuits and a couple of fruit loaves. So I plan on getting both batches of biscuits ready to the putting in the oven stage, before I turn the oven on. The fruit loaves can be readied to the adding dry to wet, and the whole thing shouldn't take too long. And not a lot of time standing beside the hot oven.

I did 14 squares yesterday so up to 44 now... Have used 3 x 100 gram balls.

Cant wait to see the ball Kuaka...

Have a fab day everyone

Yes I invested in some new shoes - almost had to take out a mortgage for them!! Lol, but certainly has helped to have properly fitted shoes and they should last a while. Not sure either why they make sports shoes in such garish colours, mine are a very bright aqua blue but not as bad as some of the other colour combinations.

The ball sounds intriguing Kuaka, don't melt in the kitchen Popeye.

Afternoon ladies, well my stack of ironing is now completely gone (until I do the next load of washing of course, which will be tomorrow). It really is never-ending

The ball is finished. Pic later.

I'm just having a coffee then I will do the vacuuming. I've got it out and it's sitting there looking at me. Then I can nip to town and then relax. Oh yes. The dress still needs altering - it won't take me long, and the lady can't pick it up till Wednesday at the earliest, so no hurry on that, but I like to get these things done soon rather than last minute.

Watch this space for the pic.

tinybaldone - 2016-02-13 18:05:00
8871

tinybaldone, no not at all. The pattern I downloaded only tells you how to put the first two pieces together, but once you've done that, it's fairly obvious how to put the third piece in.

morning ladies :) We're off to babysit our grandy this morning so mum and dad can go out for lunch and see a movie. Was going to be dinner but the gap between the movie and dinner time was too much so lunch it is.

I saw the motif our daughter posted on FB she is crocheting to make a tablecloth, so today I'll have a good nosey lol. It's the first time she's used cotton thread and not wool. Am so proud of her, it didn't take long to pick up new stitches and ideas.

happy knitting :)

Morning everyone
I saw the motif too Kiwimade, its beautiful... Cant wait to see what she does with it.
I love the ball Kuaka I think its cool.
I didn't do any crochet yesterday, just didn't feel like it.

Up the shop this morning then Im going to do photos and list things on here.

I think its lovely you are going to have a Maddy Fix while Mum and dad go on a date Kiwimade..

Have a fab day all

8874

Morning ladies, yes I was pleased with the ball and it didn't really take long. There are some animal ones I want to try now as well as the flower one.

Kiwimade I think it's lovely that you are babysitting so that the younguns can have some time together on this special day (just another day for me - and my son doesn't celebrate Valentine's Day either as it's the anniversary of his father's death - not sure how many years, but must be getting close to 20)

It's just started raining so I won't feel guilty that I'm not weeding the garden, but I need to put clean sheets on the bed, the lounge still needs vacuuming (did the family room yesterday) and I still have to alter that dress, then I can knit or crochet in peace.

Have a super day everyone, and safe travels kiwimade.

It's a win-win for us, we get to spend time with our grandy and the 'kids' get some time out :). Had a lovely afternoon with her, paddling in the paddling pool, some rough and tumble (well lots of that lol) and a wee afternoon nap. Forgot to ask our daughter where she found the pattern for her motif, but it looks as lovely as the pic she posted. Nice even tension too :)

Morning
Isn't it lovely Kiwimade to have the little ones from time to time - great fun - then give them back while we recover lol.

Fascinated with your ball Kuaka, it's really great, will look forward to seeing the other types,

Had a very relaxed day yesterday just not much oomph, knitted, read and a leisurely walk was about all I managed. Now ready to go again, off soon for a brisk walk. Skeinz are having a sale today so might head off there this am as needing more wool believe it or not hehe.

Have a good day everyone

Morning everyone.
Do you have to go far to get the students Kiwimade? Its something I would love to do, later when its just me. MrP doesn't relate well to non English speaking people.
Had a lazy day yesterday. Did some washing and listings on here and that was it.. It got to 43 degrees again.
Have to do our pill trays today. Must remember to cut my warfarin back, it does not pay to have lettuce the night before a test lol.
Then I will crochet again after having the weekend off.

Of course Jayemtoo you Need more wool.. Don't we all. lol.. Can I ask what your username stands for? Its always interested me. My stepfather called me Popeye and it stuck lol
And Kuaka what does yours mean too... ?

Have a fab day everyone

Morning ladies, I had a flat battery day yesterday although I was fairly busy all morning, (which was short because I was late getting up) but by lunchtime I needed a nap and couldn't have one because his daughter was coming over to visit, and bringing her man to fix the sewing room leak. That never happened because she hadn't managed to get the sealant we needed, so I will get it from the marine chandlery - I know they sell it there. He can get up the ladder with it next time he's here.

Popeye, kuaka (I believe it's a type of sea bird) is the name of the little fishing boat which we've just given away. I was really stumped when I joined up trying to think of a name and it's not very original I'm afraid. I'm sure I could have done better if I'd thought about it a bit more.

Hmmm, a sale at skeinz. I wonder if it's on their website. I might have to check it out.

Hospital appointment for Mr K at 1pm for his pre-op assessment. He was busy telling his daughter how they are going to open him up right down the middle of his stomach to do this examination, and I said "you don't know that, they haven't said, it's your bum that's giving you problems, why would they open up your stomach to look up your bum?" He gets some weird ideas at times (now watch them open him up just to spite me and prove me wrong!)

I'm hoping to leave here early enough so I can zap into Spotlight quickly, I want a ball of orange wool, and some 3 ply white if I can get it and some owl fabric. If I can't find what I want I shall depart quickly rather than spend ages hunting for it. Mr K can stay in the car.

Right, I'd better get cracking, have to nip to town for petrol before we go, should have done it yesterday but I couldn't be bothered.

Have a super day everyone.

carolev - 2016-02-15 12:16:00
8883

Afternoon ladies, we are home safely. Got what I wanted at Spotlight except for the owl fabric, and that's not desperately important.

We saw the pre-op assessment nurse and she thought that the cardiologist would want to see Mr K before they would do the procedure, but the anaesthetist went into great detail about Mr Ks conditions, and after talking to the specialist we saw last week, he has okay'd Mr K to have the full anaesthetic as the risks (which are higher than normal) have been pointed out to him and we both understand them. It has been recommended that he shaves his beard off so that if he does stop breathing they have a better chance of getting a good seal around the face mask they would use to hopefully keep him going. That will be interesting as I've never seen him without a beard! He will probably be kept in at least overnight. The main concern the anaesthetist had was his erratic heart and his broken neck - apart from that, he's fine!

kuaka - 2016-02-15 17:20:00

So pleased to hear it went well Kuaka... I wonder what he will now tell the daughter.
Any idea of when they will do the procedure?

Take a before and after photo of the beard, so you can show his Son lol

Morning everyone.. Have a fab day with the students Kiwimade.
Overcast here soo not too hot yet.
Off to the drs today.. have to go to get my pills. They like to see you once every six months for meds, the inbetween you can just get a repeat script.

Ive worked out that I am going to need more wool for my blanket. But will confirm that by keeping a record of what I make out of one ball of each.. I think its about 14.5 squares.. But the first two balls I used weren't full balls.

So that will mean a visit to spotlight , which I will do when I take MrP to hospital, and a we shop at Deramores. I could cut the design down but I would never be happy with that..

Ive done 58 squares now.. Not bad for a week and I didn't do any on the weekend.

Have an awesome day everyone

popeye333 - 2016-02-16 09:28:00
8888

Good evening ladies, I don't know where today has gone, I had another late start to the morning, so by the time I'd had breakfast, done the dishes, stewed some plums and had a visit from a friend to collect some plums, it was lunchtime, then the afternoon out, home to cook tea, then I finally finished altering that dress, and now I can sit and relax - and will possibly fall asleep!

I'm working on a flower puzzle ball, and would really like to finish it tonight, (so I can show it off at knit and natter tomorrow) but we'll see.

Have a super evening everyone.

Oh I think I fancy some ice cream before I crochet - oops - there goes the diet!

morning girls we have RAIN plus it's not very warm here just right to knit and sew in but I have to go to winz see if they will pay the dentist

carolev - 2016-02-17 08:25:00
8890

Morning ladies, I've just cancelled the window cleaner who was due at 9am as the rain looks imminent. The last three times he's been it has rained as he was leaving or finishing, and it just seems like money down the drain, as it looks no better the next day.

Knit and natter this morning so I had better get a wriggle on. I will be doing wedges for my flower puzzle ball. I thought I had done them, but the 12 that I made for it, I did the same as the first puzzle ball, and when I actually read the pattern, the ones for the flower ball are different. Grrrrr! So now I have 12 flowers for a flower ball but no wedges, and 12 wedges for an ordinary puzzle ball but no "lids". Grrrrrr again! Never mind, it means I have two balls half made.

I finished altering the dress yesterday so that's a relief.

Going to put corned beef in the crockpot in a minute and that's tea sorted for today.

Have a super day everyone and stay dry.

kuaka - 2016-02-17 09:15:00

Morning everyone. Yayay raining, and cooler... Meant to be this way for a couple of days.
Was at the drs 1.5 hours yesterday.. They were flat out and I also gave in an admitted Im not handling summer as I should be, and it gets me down soo much. So a tweak in my pills and hopefully I will improve. Its not right to open the curtains and see the sun and feel instantly miserable. She was pleased to see me managing my insulin myself.

I did 10 squares yesterday, one while I was waiting at the drs, after a couple of ladies I knew left.

Made MrP a lovely looking mince pie last night. He has half left so that's his dinner sorted.

I will know by maybe lunchtime today how many squares I get from the white wool.

Have a fab day everyone

8892

Morning
Kuaka I was told if you want rain then clean the outsides of your windows hehe. The flower ball sounds interesting can't really imagine how it will look.

No rain here but dull and cooler so perhaps later in the day. Ive been out for my "training" and it went well but an elderly man on a bike stopped me to ask directions which fouled up my timing. I will not give directions to anyone on Sunday lol.

Your pile of squares must be growing well Popeye.
My pile of prem beanies is growing, I'm doing them as my take out knitting but for home I have started a little boys jersey I found a pattern I like but it had a pattern on it which I have decided not to do so hope the shaping turns out ok.

Have a good day all

morning ladies :) One group of students gone and another arriving this afternoon so no time for crafting. A shame really as it is perfect weather for it, not too hot or cold.

Happy knitting :)

Morning ladies, it's a very wet one this morning, rained all night and we had some thunder and lightning. I don't think I will be doing my usual shopping trip to kerikeri today, but might just nip to the local Countdown as I want some sugar to make plum jam.

I managed to do the first strip of four flowers yesterday. Still need 5 more wedges and might get them done today, I'd like to finish the ball today, see how I get on.

The corned beef last night was really tender so mr k was quite happy, the previous piece I cooked in the crockpot wasn't as good. The decision now is whether to keep the leftover for sandwiches at lunchtime or have it again for tea. First world problems eh?

I suppose I should get up and face the day. I was up earlier and rescued the Herald before it drowned on the driveway, made a cup of tea and came back to bed. I wonder how my little lettuce plants are surviving this heavy rain, hopefully the dwarf and runner beans will be okay but I think the lettuce will be flattened. I'll just have to get some more if that's the case.

Perfect day for knitting, so have a super one.

kuaka - 2016-02-18 08:18:00
8895

Morning everyone.
No thunder and lightening but the power has been off twice. So I quickly came on here to do the banking.. Which will be ok now at this end, but if it goes off again we wont be able to do the shopping lol.

Have a bit to do, go get MrPs script take both to the chemist, only need one item at the mo. Do some banking and get a few groceries. There was more but Ill have to do it next week .

Have done 81 squares now... Im pretty sure Ill get at least one more out of a ball of red over the white. will order more when ive worked it out later today.

So happy to see another wet dull day, my mood is picking up.. It is warm this morning tho.

Have a fab day all

Morning
Lovely rain overnight but now bright and sunny so will dry out again I guess.

I too have a bit of shopping this am then hope to do a bit in the garden while it is still damp.
Had to pull undone the jacket I was doing as was far too big but not surprised really as that's what you get by ignoring the pattern instructions. Have found another pattern to try so hope this one works out ok.

Have a good day

Morning
Good you are feeling better Carole long may it last.
Yes definitely craft should be top of your agenda today Kiwimade - don't want you going into withdrawal symptoms.
Hot and windy here, Have quite a few things to do today, Sister and BiL coming for dinner and then we will go into town to see a bit of Art Deco and the aerial display this evening. Love Art Deco but won't bother to dress up this year - probably be the odd ones out as the town transforms for this weekend.
Getting on with the boy's jersey but have made a couple of small mistakes but hopefully won't show when finished and if works out ok will do another one without the mistakes for if the baby is a boy. Someone Im sure won't mind this trial one.
Have a good day all
