Afternoon
No rain here and rather warm.
Don't blame you for not doing the curtains Kuaka that is a lot of material to juggle with.
Sister rang mid morning as the nectarines we had picked from her tree were starting to get rot so went and collected them and now busily stewing them for the freezer. If have the energy later will make a nectarine tart which will keep BiL happy.
Up to the arm holes on my vest so it's growing will do more later, not sure why I have decided to a bigger garment while it's so hot!

morning ladies, wow, did we have some rain late yesterday and into the night. Everything outside looks 'washed' and it looks like we're in for more. Must make sure we have extra water in the fridge in case the power goes off. The best part is there is no wind so the rain goes into the ground and stays there. Our farmer friend is very very happy.

So crafting today at long last :)

Morning ladies, it rained here pretty well all day yesterday and through the night and this morning everything looks murky and misty. Shame for all those who have come up here for Waitangi Day - I won't be going. We did walk along there one year, but felt very uncomfortable, there was quite a tense almost threatening atmosphere, so we had a quick look round and came home.

I finally finished sewing the squares together for the blanket which is made up of 3 different sized squares yesterday and started doing the border. I've started on the second row of the border, not sure how many rows I will do, probably 3, possibly 4. I will try to finish it today, then I might get back to sewing the elephant together.

Whatever you do today, stay dry and have fun.

Morning
We were predicted rain but so far no sight of it and the garden would really love some.

The nectarine tart looks good so will take it over later when go to make kitty litter - get into BiLs good books for a while hehe.
Going up the back section of the vest so making progress think it will be a useful garment rather than fashionable lol.

Have a good day All

Morning everyone
We had a couple of showers late in the afternoon. I don't think it rained overnight. the road is dry. but overcast hear today.
We do have a breeze which is lovely. And its not blowing from the stinky sewerage ponds. The powers that be say its the ponds making the stink. I gather its fixable.

I printed the dinosaurs out yesterday, incase the go MIA again. And I see todays is Stanley the Stegosaurus. So Ill print that out later. Im very low on ink. I wish they hadnt put the same tree in the background.

Ive sold Bruno on facebook. so that's good.

Thinking of taking MrP to Pukekohe. he hasn't had maccas for ages and they are discounted at the mo for the cheese burgers. I don't eat their burgers so might have a waffle cone. Im not a big ice cream fan either but that will do for me.

So back to my second beanie later

Kuaka I wouldn't like the tension either at Waitangi.. they create it themselves then wonder why people want to stay away. it should be a peaceful celebration, they are turning into war basically

Have a good day

Well done popeye on selling Bruno - may I ask how much you sold him for?

kuaka - 2016-02-06 10:16:00

Yep Kuaka I got $20 for him. Which was as low as I was prepared to go to.

8809

Well done (sorry popeye, I thought after I'd asked that question, that I shouldn't have - so my apologies!)

I have about 12 inches of the last row of border to do on my blanket, so I will do that shortly, and then decide whether to stitch the rest of the elephant together or cast something else on - wonder what I will do. Have 3 projects I want to do, a knitted shawl for me, a crocheted toy or an owl granny square. Course there's several wips I could do too. Let you know tomorrow which one wins.

morning ladies :) Have a few things to do around the house, MrK is FINALLY getting round to weather boarding the porch we had built last year with our alterations. We've had the boards covered in front of a row of roses and they are a bl***y nuisance there as I can't get to the roses properly to dehead, prune, weed etc. I threatened to get the builder back to finish the job lol and he's decided he had better get onto it lol.... works everytime!

Will do some crafting this afternoon, slowly 'getting' there with the tea shower.

Happy knitting :)

Morning ladies, not sure what the weather is doing yet as I'm feeling lazy and am still in bed. I finished the blanket yesterday, 3 rounds on the border and made an owl granny square - it's quite cute.

No plans for today, but my tummy is rumbling so I had better feed it.

Oh, yes I have plans, mr k needs a haircut, nothing else planned though. Might have another lazy day. If I can't have a holiday, I'm going to have lots of lazy days!

Have a super day everyone. I'll put up some pics later.

Morning everyone. Gonna be a hot one I think

Kuaka no worries about asking how much I got for the toy.. If it had bothered me I wouldn't have told you lol.. I thought it was a fair price cos really he wasn't that much work. He doesn't go till Wednesday, but Im glad hes sold.

Lol Kiwimade sometimes it only takes the mention of paying someone to do something to get our guys into gear eh.
MrPs mess is spreading, I went to get bread out of the freezer yesterday and found a box of crap on the top.
Im going to have to do something drastic.. Ill do it when hes in hospital, so he cant argue. And ill arrange with a friend to take the rubbish to her place and she can put it out, cos if its still here he will try and go through it.

Cant put it off any longer I need to vacuum lol.. but I need to clean the filters on the vac first. Its a job I enjoy doing, I just don't like the dust lol. So ill be outside working with the wind.

Have a fab day everyone

Morning
Just back from a "training" walk/jog - I'm determined to do the 6.5kms in under an hour so am doing a measured circuit whenever I can. Showered and enjoying a much needed coffee. Will blob out for a while then decide next move.

Plodding on with the vest did very little yesterday as out most of the day and flaked in the evening.
Good idea Kuaka have a at home holiday just put on blinkers and not look at anything you don't feel like doing, spoil yourself a bit you deserve it.

Happy day all

Thanks popeye, I felt a bit rude after I'd asked, so would have completely understood if you had ignored me.

Here's a pic of the blanket (hard to get it all in - I had to stand on a chair)

https://trademe.tmcdn.co.nz/photoserver/full/449039994.jpg

and the owl granny square, he just needs buttons to go on his eyes (couldn't be bothered going through the buttons collection last night)

https://trademe.tmcdn.co.nz/photoserver/full/449040210.jpg

Halfway through doing the owl granny square I realised I was using the wrong size hook, it was too small and it made working the first row of the actual square after I'd done the owl a bit more fiddly than it should have been.

Both are cool Kuaka.
The blanket looks warmer than mine, I think, The mauve seems to make it look that way to me, where I had the pale green.

The owl is cute, are you going to make a blanket of them?

popeye333 - 2016-02-07 12:36:00
8817

probably popeye, but this poor wee one won't be part of it, as I used dk and stupidly a size 9 hook where I should have used an 8 or 7. So this was just a dummy run so to speak (with me being the dummy!) I have placed buttons on for his eyes, but won't bother sewing them on as I'm not going to use this square.

https://trademe.tmcdn.co.nz/photoserver/full/449081443.jpg

I only put a chain in the corners, I don't put them in between the groups of trebles, and I think that makes it look less open (on the blanket I mean)

The blanket is lovely - the colours work so well together.
The owl would make great blanket - owls interspersed between plain squares.

morning ladies :) Lovely work kuaka, I agree, the owls would look great scattered amongst plain squares.

I think my sister is visiting today, I have a pushchair she can pass onto my nephew and his partner.

A few things to potter with today around the house. MrK is still cutting the weatherboards to shape for the porch, can't wait for the pile to be moved from in front of the roses.

happy knitting :)

Morning ladies, well Mr K didn't get his haircut yesterday as he went back to bed for the afternoon, so he will have one today. I have to nip to town to get milk, so will put the rubbish out on the way (I have to drop it off down at the next street) and apart from that, no other plans. Maybe another lazy day is called for, although I do have some ironing to do and I could put clean sheets on the bed and do some more washing. Doesn't look like being a good day for getting washing dry though so might not bother. Might knit instead.

Have a super day everyone.

Morning
Fine misty rain so lovely day for pottering around inside - and knitting.

Have to get out at some stage and finish covering the grapes, they are far from ripe but a fat thrush was having a good feed last evening so now the birds have found them they will be stripped if I don't cover them completely. The cheeky things can find the smallest gap and get in. There are enough vineyards around they can raid and leave my small vine alone haha.

have a good day

Morning everyone
What a stinker it was yesterday, and going to be much the same today I think..
I vaccd the floor yesterday and it was soo hot I was dripping, also got a blister on my thumb from sweating on the grip lol Vacuumig is hazardous lol
I have got our last piece of hogget in the crockpot.. I Know Im mad lol.. but Ive wanted it for so long, and at least I dont have the oven on. ill do veges this morning while its cooler (Ha) and cook them in the frying pan later.Im going to make heaps of gravy and then make some frozen dinners from the left overs.
The heat will decide on what I do. but I think Ill have another go at designing my red and white blanket, what I did the other day wont work, so I have another plan lol.. I don't have a maths exercise book so have to draw up a page in a 1B5 first.

Have a fab day everyone

Ok Need some advice.
The following pictures are the design I want to do. But Im stuck near the middle. The green is going to be white.

https://trademe.tmcdn.co.nz/photoserver/full/449271733.jpg

The last four squares would you do the white / green or do them red?

And the very middle one, should I change that to White

Do them in white and leave middle one red, should look most impressive.

jayemtoo - 2016-02-08 15:01:00

Popeye - Love the design - you have quite a dilemma, don't you? Personally, I would go with the last 4 squares in white/green, and leave the middle one red, but I'm sure that you will get many varying opinions. Good luck.

Morning ladies, I wonder what will happen today when Mr K sees the specialist at the hospital - he is convinced that he will be admitted for immediate surgery, I'm not so sure. We will know this afternoon.

I have to nip to town this morning to post a parcel, and then his nibbs wants to leave here at 11.30 for his 1.30 appointment even though it's under an hours drive - just in case the car breaks down or we get a puncture, not that he is going to be able to do anything if that does happen.

I've started a c2c blanket to take with me even though I have half a dozen other projects on the go, I need something "no think" and this one is pretty pink, yellow, cream, green and white "magic knit" acrylic. I think it's going to look good and it's lovely and soft (unlike the pure wool horse blanket that I'm crocheting for charity with yarn they supplied - I'm still struggling with that one because I don't like the feel of the wool nor the yukky colours).

Whatever you do today, enjoy it.

kuaka - 2016-02-09 07:50:00

Morning everyone. Another overcast and slightly cooler day YAYAYAY.

Have decided to go with the white for those 4 squares, and Ill do a red and white for the middle one and see which one looks the best when I lay it out. Plain squares only take 20 mins including the sewing in of the ends. So Ive set myself a task of a minimum of 6 a day, that way it will take 2 months to make them. If I do more that's a bonus.

Have a good day at school Kiwimade

Kuaka, just take things as they come. Panda to his whims. I like being early but not a fan of paying too much for un necessary parking.

I have to go up and post my Yarn lotto wool. Then coming home to crochet.

Have a fab day all

Morning
Hope you had a fun day at school Kiwimade. Guess yours won't be a "fun" time Kuaka but hopefully you will get some answers as to what is ailing Mr K.
Just home from this years first session of Mainly Music, had over 50 children with their carers so rather noisy but all good fun. Now waiting for washing to finish, it's nice and hot so should dry this pm. Will pick up needles while waiting, nearly finished last front of vest and then will have the task of picking up stitches got the bands.

Happy afternoon All

jayemtoo - 2016-02-09 11:37:00
8832

Well we got home from the hospital at 4.30, having home left at midday when Mr K finally worked out that we didn't need to allow two hours to get there. He has to go back on Monday for a pre-op assessment and to see an anaesthetist, and is on the "urgent" list for examination under full anaesthetic, and they haven't a clue how long before that happens and don't know whether he will be kept in overnight or more than one night or not at all. So we are playing a waiting game.

morning ladies. Forlongs? wow, they have been in Hamilton for yonks!

I hate those waiting games with hospitals, when they do decide it is your 'turn' though, it is all go.

Had a great day yesterday, lots of outdoorsy stuff which both the class and I like. They spent most of the 'middle block' in the pool.

I'm off to do dad's garden, better move.

happy knitting :)

Morning
Good that the school still does swimming Kiwimade too many kids are missing out these days unfortunately.
Hope not too long to wait Kuaka.
Off out for training walk then will see how the day goes have started making a list of things I need to do but tend to "forget" such as clean out the garage. Once on a list I then feel I must do them - but not necessarily today hehe.
Onto picking up stitches for the front bands of the vest, the pattern says to do them in 3 sections but I don't want joins so will try to do one. Have got out the longest cable for circular needle so hope they all fit.
Have a good day

jayemtoo - 2016-02-10 07:47:00

Morning everyone
Glad yesterday went ok Kuaka.. Sounds like we are both "On Hold" for appointments now lol
Glad school was good Kiwimade.. we miss hearing the laughter and squeals of the kids swimming at the school over the road. They took the old pool out to make room for the new one, which isn't happening now.

Wow Forlongs closing is a real sign of the times. There was a similar shop in Pukekohe "Kevans" not as big as Forlongs, but that closed last year.

A sunny day today so Im staying inside.. Ive done 16 squares now and still managed some knitting last night too. Glad Ive got my mojo back.

Hope everyone has an awesome day

popeye333 - 2016-02-10 09:30:00
8838

Morning ladies, yes, well it might have gone well yesterday but I'm not sure about Mr K and his thinking. His daughter phoned last night from Brisbane and I heard him telling her that "the infection has spread, they've found a growth and they are going to operate on Monday". So after he'd gone to bed I sent her a message and told her that wasn't what they said at all, and on Monday he's only going for a pre-op assessment and we have no idea when they will do the op, and there was no mention of finding a growth or of the infection spreading. All the specialist said was "you're obviously too sore for me to be able to examine you, we'll have to do it under anaesthetic and then we'll know what we're dealing with - it could be something quite minor, or a growth or cancer". Grrrrr - wish he'd turn his ears on at times.

Must get cracking, knit and natter today. I did quite a bit of the new blanket yesterday at the hospital, and it feels so much nicer than the pure wool horse blanket. I've gone totally off that one, but I will finish it. It is just going to take me a while.

So breakfast calls, then I can face the day knowing I won't fade away - as if!

Have a super day everyone.

Just got home from getting my haircut, doesn't it feel lovely when freshly cut. I have a new kitten (supposed to be my grandson's, but he is too busy) and I really love this baby. He follows me round with his bell on the collar which lets me know where he is. Very cute. Feel like doing some knitting today, it is a bit cooler, thank goodness. Can't cope with the heat. Have a lovely day everyone.

Well the best laid plans of mice and men, they say don't they? Didn't get to knit and natter this morning as friends called in for coffee. So might go to the Friday session instead of going shopping, and then go shopping on Saturday instead of Friday. Might. See what happens.

Awee I love new kittens, I often wonder if my Missy girl would like a playmate, but I wouldn't want her upset so I wont risk it.

Ohh Kuaka, not good you missed your group this morning. Glad you have other days as options.
Ive drawn my design for my blanket into a book , so I wont lose it now... Not that I would have lost it, but Ive done it into a book so the page doesn't get tatty.
It looks good inn red and white too.

Right a play on here and then to my hook.

Its starting to heat up

Im about to go and hang off the end of my hook for a while, now that Ive done all I need to on here.

morning ladies :) Lawns to mow again - seems all I do is mow lawns lol. Then some stitching for me I think. I've been a bit slack lately and need to get this tea shower finished.

Happy knitting :)

Morning ladies, waiting to see what the weather does, a friend and I have been invited to another friends for a swim, but I'm a bit chicken - I have to be at melting point before I swim and at the moment there's a nip in the air. If we don't go swimming, I think we'll go shopping to Kerikeri.

I won't be going to the Friday session of knit and natter as I'm meeting a friend for coffee tomorrow afternoon - I can't justify going out for coffee twice in one day, even if I did miss out yesterday and last Wednesday.

I've started (not that I need any more wips) to crochet an Amish puzzle ball. Very interesting.

My lawn needs doing kiwimade, maybe you'd like to do mine too??? Thought not!

Have a super day everyone.

kuaka - 2016-02-11 08:27:00
8846

Morning
Would you like to travel a bit the other direction and do my lawns as well Kiwimade?? I got a man to do them while I was away and he has continued but not really happy with them so think I will let him go and do them myself again for a while. Usually at this time of year they stop growing for a while but seem to be growing ultra fast this year.

Been for my walk/jog so now cooling down then shower and out for a while.

Finished my vest yesterday just need to block and buttons. Think it will be quite handy for the in-between seasons.
Have a couple of little things to finish off before deciding what next to do.

Have a good day

Morning Everyone.
Had blue sky when we first woke but it has clouded over. Had a lovely heavy shower last night.
I managed 8 squares yesterday, but I was busy doing other things. I must count up and see how many of each I will need. Simply cos my brain wants to know and I cant get it out of my head.
I think our lawns are due on Monday and man they are long. Ours are normally dried off by now too.

Shopping this morning and MrP wants a couple of hinges to rehang a gate on the fence. Its been falling off for ages, but the young lawn boys have made it dam near impossible to open. So he will hang it on the opposite post and it should work better.

Had good news this morning.. Our car will be paid off on March 3rd.. Yayayay, its been a long struggle. grocery shopping should be a lot easier after that.

Have a fab day everyone

popeye333 - 2016-02-11 09:27:00

lol thanks for the 'invites' kuaka and jayemtoo, but our lawn is enough for me. Have finished but with 83% humidity I'm all sweaty and yucky. Will run the hoe over the garden while I'm like this then I can shower knowing it is all done.

That's good news about the car popeye, will make life easier having a few more $$ in the pocket.

Time for a cuppa I think.
