I reckon you can never have too much wool either

#Post

the rug doctor has a bit of weight behind it but to clean, you push a button and pull it. The tip it onto it's wheels and wheel it back to the next bit of carpet. You can get quite a rhythm going. Carpet still feels a bit damp but will be bone dry by this evening with this breeze and sunshine. Every window and door in the house is open :)

I'll put the groceries away then I can stitch.

Afternoon ladies, I've just put in another batch of dwarf beans and tea is organised (roast lamb, roast potatoes and veg) I know, must be mad in this heat but it will be a change.

Now I can relax and do some knitting. Mr K is asleep in his chair.

Morning
Cool and damp and it can stay like this and give my poor little plants a chance. I replanted my little veg garden last week and noticed a couple of beans poking through as well as the carrots coming up, I'm going away for a few days so hope the weather doesn't turn too hot and cook them before I get back.

Found a biggish bag of bits and pieces of sock wool so looks like I will be making baby things for quite a while yet - not that I mind as easy to take with me and not much thinking needed so ideal while away.

Have a good day

morning g all. Carole its here now just a little wet summer some days, and the lovely flowers and veges need that wet summer. Please don't ask it to get any hotter. Hot enough for this one now. Have a lovely day all.

morning ladies :) Not mad at all kuaka lol, we had a roast the other night as it also gives us cold meat for the next couple of meals.

It's the wind that does it isn't it jayemtoo, even though we have had some rain, the ground has been so dry it just swallows up the water and we're back to square one again. As for summer carole, I'd just be happy for the wind to buggar off!

Did a bit more stitching last evening, slowly getting there. I need to knit one of those wee baby jerseys that open up all the way down the side, the one that fits until baby is six weeks old. Have a baby shower to go too soon.

happy knitting :)

Morning ladies, well we'll be eating cold lamb for lunch today I think as friend dropped some fresh snapper in for us last night so we'll have that for tea today - yum. It was $40kg at New World on Monday, so I bought gurnard instead which was "only" $26kg.

Am hoping to row out to the boat a bit later this morning to run the motor and check the bilge, but I'm keeping an eye on the weather, the wind especially. It's from the East at the moment which isn't ideal if it increases too much, so I'll decide in an hour or so. By then the tide will be perfect and I might be awake enough.

Had a message from my step-son last night, the one who stayed for two months last winter and was so good working on the boat and helping round the house. He hopes to be over to visit clients in Auckland soon and will come and stay "if we'll have him!" he asked. Of course we will, be lovely to see him again, although I think he will see his father has deteriorated further.

Right, breakfast then I can get organised if I decide I'm going a-rowing.

Have a super day everyone.

Morning everyone.
Bring on the rain. The clouds are coming in again now.

MrP didn't want to get up this morning so I nipped up the road for groceries and went to the oppy.
Fish is soo dammed expensive, I opted for a box of fillets today. Ill stretch them so we will get three meals out of it.
The Oppy had a half price sale one everything. Got MrP a pair of shorts, too small grrr.. but I did get the years birthday cards and a lovely silver money box in the shape of a babies pram. The wheels and handle move so I had to have that.

I may crochet or knit later. I picked it up yesterday and couldn't even get a corner right and thought Ahh Stuff it lol... So I didn't attempt it again.

Have a fab day everyone

morning ladies.... yummmm fresh fish. We have a 'fish monger' visit our town once a week (he tours the district) with a mobile fish shop and his fish is straight off the wharf. So fresh! And we find fish is good value as you eat all of what you buy, not like a roast that could have a whopping big bone in the middle. Occasionally he has treats like blue cod - unbelievable to have blue cod this far north.

The Furry One tolerates having the ear drops especially as he knows now there is a tiny bit of cheese as a reward for letting me put them in. He will do anything for cheese lol. His ears are less inflamed but he still shakes his head morning and early evening when the drops seems to have worn off. Doesn't stop him chasing rabbits though!

Housework for me today, then a quick trip into town to do a couple of things. All going to plan, I should be able to stitch for a while later on.

Happy knitting :)

morning all another overcast day . might unpick the sleeve and start again . on the up side of my life my gardens look great

Morning ladies, it's overcast here and so far hardly a breath of wind, so if it's still like this after I've had breakfast I shall row out to the boat. It got too windy yesterday and there were white caps all up the harbour, not suitable for me to be out in a dinghy. I'm a "no risk Charlie" when it comes to rowing that dinghy.

I've finished knitting my elephant, now to sew it up and stuff it then you can see a pic.

I've also started a c2c blanket for Little Sprouts using some wool they sent me, unfortunately it's 4ply crepe - I would say it's nearly as old as me, and the colours aren't very exciting, but I guess it will still keep some poor wee babe warm. They also sent me some acrylic "misty" I think it's called, it almost looks a bit like mohair, and I'm to knit cardigans in 6 month and over size so this will keep me out of mischief for an hour or so ............

I still have to do quite a few small squares for the other blanket.

So many projects, so little time.

Breakfast and then I will make a decision.

Have a super day everyone.

Morning everyone
Overcast here Yay and a bit of wind. Its lovely lol

.Havent decided what to do today. Im quiet enjoying not doing any craft at the mo , which is odd for me. I normally always have something in my hands

So much for my shopping yesterday. I didn't bother to take a list... didn't get eggs or cheese lol.. two staples in this house. Havent completely run out so should be ok till I top up on sunday. And there is possibly still one bag of grated cheese in the freezer, Ill check soon.

Glad the Furry one is behaving getting his drops... Lol All our Cats have loved cheese so it was always handy and worming time.

Be careful out there Kuaka

morning ladies :) It's foggy here but soon will be hot as heck. I'm about to go and trim all the grass edges and mow again (yep, mowed on Monday) as the grass has grown like crazy this week. And also my family are coming tomorrow for a BBQ for my sister's birthday and we will be eating outside so I want the lawn to look nice. Won't take long to do.

Last day for ear drops for the Furry One, he's stopped shaking his head even in the morning/evening so they seem to have worked. Must be too chilly for him this morning as he been up, had a quick pat and cuddle from me, ate his breakfast and gone back to bed with MrK lol.

Will down this coffee and head outside, stitching will be done this afternoon :)

Happy knitting :)

Morning everyone.
We had a foggy start too, it was down at 5-10am this morning cos I always look out the window if I get up through the night. Sunny now tho.

Good to hear the Furry one is on the mend. Poor thing.

I see the second dinosaur pattern is in.. I really need to do some crafting but am finding it very hard to get Motivated these days. Ill print it off later anyway. But I do wish they wouldn't have soo much stuff in the photo lol it uses a lot of ink.

MrP is happy hes watching some fishing lol...

Our lawns are long too Kiwimade, due to be done on Monday.. I also need to deadhead the roses, so will leave that till night time. And the ladder fern needs a jolly good hair cut. That cant wait till its getting a bit cooler tho.. So we will have the full footpath to walk on in the winter lol.

Glad you finally got the Boat seen to Kuaka.. Hope the muscle aren't too achy this morning.

Have a fab day all

Morning ladies, not feeling too bad physically this morning after yesterday's efforts, but a bit of an emotional wreck as Mr K seems to be in a perpetual bad mood, and I'm getting fed up with it, we seem to be always snapping at each other which isn't like us. I suppose he's frustrated that I'm having to do all the things he would normally do.

I only have 2 more small squares to do and that's the lot. I tried to download that second deramores pattern but it wouldn't download for me, so will try again later. Don't think it's quite so cute as the first one though.

Lovely and sunny here and so far it's a comfortable temperature, not stinking hot and not humid. It can stay like this if it likes.

I'm going to do those two squares now and then decide how to spend the rest of the day - I should do some gardening but don't feel like it.

Have a super day everyone.

Your bang on Kuaka. MrP is the same. Its hard to handle on our parts too.

But they seem to get fixed on what they cant do instead of thinking about what they can do.

Yesterday I read up on Parkinsons. It was like reading MrP's medical notes. And a lot more is explained that I hadn't known. And I told him what I had read and he actually feels a little better knowing its the disease doing these things to him. Hes not just being lazy etc.
And his violent shaking is due to the parkinsons too.. We had wondered.

And apparently not everyone with it get the tremours where they shake all the time.

Make sure you keep going to your knit and natter etc, for your own sake Kuaka.

That's all MrP does too. Although he will dry the dishes if I ask. And he empties the kitchen compost bin.
But that's all

Apart from telling me to slow and down and rest.. And Im like is there a fairy that's coming to do what is needed for normal living?

Morning
Another hot day ahead by the look of things.
Oh dear Kuaka I feel for you, someone being miserable can be so draining on others. Perhaps he needs an anti-depressant.

Good that the furry one is better Kiwimade - seems that animals are easier to treat than husbands lol.

I'm having a lovely time with my sister in Hamilton. Friday we went to the Zealong tea estate and had a great afternoon with a tour, tea tasting ceremony followed by a decadent high tea. Then yesterday we met with 2 nephews and their families for a lunch at a nice rural cafe place near Gordonton. Think today can be a relaxing day. I'll head home again tomorrow and will take 7yr old nephew with me for a few days holiday.

Finished a pair of socks which were meant to be for a baby but will fit about a 3 year old, so have started another lot - eventually I should get a pattern I like. I'm not having a lot of success with short row heels as tend to get small gaps but have found another way of doing them which looks hopeful!

Have a great day.

morning ladies :) lol jayemtoo, I think I would rather have a sick dog than husband any day! My MrK has that woe-is-me attitude when he's sick. Get tired of it very quickly! Touch wood, we've had a good 'run' with his health so far.

We've wanted to do that tour at the tea plantation, good to hear someone's opinion of it before we do. That high tea sounds yummmmm.

We're setting up the tall saw horses and the old door as a table again today as we're having a BBQ for my sister's 50th. Have baked a banana cake, just need to ice it this morning and just remembered I don't have candles lol. Oh well, will get some later this morning.

It finally feels like summer has arrived, was just too hot to do anything last evening. Might have to turn the heat pump onto cold soon I think.

Have a safe trip home jayemtoo.

Happy knitting :)

Morning everyone.

Was terribly hot yesterday. Its overcast here at the mo but still hot.. Hate summer lol.
MrP is feeling good at the mo... Yay.. it may only last a few hours but Ill take it lol.

Still no craft for me yesterday.. I did fill our pill trays tho.. MrP had a sleep, so I watched the finale of downton Abbey. It was lovely. Almost had happy and sad tears lol
Being teary is a part of my not coping with the heat.. After id done the dishes I felt wiped out. Still kinda half way through summer.

Hope its not too hot on Wednesday while we are at the hospital.

Have a fab day all

Morning ladies, well I'm feeling a bit better today having had a good nights sleep, slept like a log last night apart from heavy rain waking me at some stage (didn't even look at the clock) just listened briefly and turned over and went back to sleep.

I've finally finished the squares, and I've started sewing the elephant together, lots of sewing of lots of bits - I'm wondering why I bothered!
C2c blanket is coming along but I don't like the wool, it's horrible. Hope it washes up a bit softer. Then I suppose I need to look for something else to do.

Overcast here, and quite a nice temperature at the moment.

Kiwimade I put my heat pump on cold a few nights ago when it was so humid it was awful, and within a few minutes it was lovely and a few more minutes and I had to switch it off. That's the only time I've used it on cold in the 3 years we've had it. I use the ceiling fan often in the summer though.

Enjoy your family day kiwimade and jayemtoo, drive carefully.

Have a super day everyone.

Overcast here but the sun is peeping through.. Just under 30 degrees outside and 23.4 inside. I expect it to get more humid.
So we are definitely doing our jobs in the morning.

I still haven't done any craft, its nice having a break. But Im sure Ill pick something up eventually.

Thinking the lawn man will be here soon.. He will no doubt try and get some lawns done before it rains.

Morning ladies, very overcast here and a very weak sun trying to poke through the murk but it looks like rain isn't far away, it's not humid and not hot, just comfortable.

Not sure what to do today, might try and have a btu (big tidy up) but then again I might not!

I might carry on sewing the squares and the elephant together, see if I can get the elephant finished at least.

I tried to do some sewing yesterday but everything I touched seemed to turn to custard so I gave up. Might have another go today.

Happy crafting everyone

No knitting yesterday, I had my nose stuck in a book for a while though. I'm reading a book written by Sophie Elliott's mum about her murder and the court case. Interesting to read from a family members point of view.

Should be able to knit this afternoon.

Morning ladies, not a cloud in the sky but the sun doesn't seem very "bright" so it must have a haze over it (can't see the sun - it's behind the trees) It must have rained during the night as everything is wet but I slept through it.

kiwimade I read the book written by Christie Marceau's mother after she was murdered. The one thing that came through to me apart from the fact that the murderer should never have been bailed to live so close to them, was for someone who kept saying they lived in fear all the time, that he would attack again, why on earth did she open the door that morning without checking who was on the other side. If she had just checked to see who was there, she could have phoned the police and the murder would never have happened. Also found it weird that she has Christie's ashes and takes them with her whenever she travels anywhere. Just as well we're not all the same.

Yesterday I decided to do a blitz on the little bedroom where Paul will sleep (he arrives tomorrow night). Removed all my craft stuff and put new sheets on the bed - it already had clean sheets but I decided to open a new packet. Course I had to wash them first, the instructions said to wash them "inside out" ????? I bought king single by mistake so the fitted one is a bit big, but seeing as the packet describes them as "flat sheet set" I was surprised to find a fitted one. Reading on, it says "one fitted sheet, one flat sheet, one pillowcase". I wish they would put two pillowcases in the sets.

I didn't touch the elephant or sew any squares together yesterday but I did some on the c2c blanket and made an interchangeable needle pouch.

No plans for today, but will fit in some craft at some stage.

Have a super day everyone.

Morning everyone
Was a nice bit of a storm last night. Even had some thunder and lightening before we went to bed.
Everything feels fresh this morning.

Have to pop up the road this morning, never thought to get the petrol for tomorrow when I was out yesterday.
I haven't put petrol in the car since 21st of December, and the car was only 3/4 full that day and we still have 1/4 of a tank. not a huge traveller lol.
Will take some stuff to the oppy while we are out.

I will check MrP's hospital bag. will take it with us even tho I doubt we will need it unless he has a turn or something while there.

I will find a knitting bag and put my crochet in it, to take tomorrow too. I cant sit and twiddle me thumbs lol

Hi all. I work shift work so haven't been on here for awhile. Hope all goes well for Mr P tomorrow. The blanket looked so good it got me interested in crochet again so started a blanket but with work only done about 12 rows so far. Got a busy day off tomorrow; painting, doing my daughter's CV and preparing for a fundraiser (sausage sizzle) this weekend. My son fractured his finger so he has a couple of follow up appointments so he wont be playing cricket until the end of February now.

Morning ladies, good luck at the hospital popeye, and well done on the sewing orders carolev.

Knit and natter for me this morning, if I can stay awake. I didn't sleep at all, and I mean not at all, last night and eventually I got up at 5am with the intention of sitting knitting, but puss had other ideas and was so smoochy I couldn't knit at all. Can't complain when she's so affectionate.

Had a busy day yesterday, cleaned the cupboard under the kitchen sink, found five and a half pairs of rubber gloves, 4 of them still in their packets, several cans of furniture polish (won't need to buy any for a good while) and countless packets of chux cleaning cloths. Then I put clean sheets on the bed and did the washing, and then I mowed the little lawn. Must tidy the lounge today as step-son is arriving tonight. I don't want stuff sitting here that was here when he left in September!

Have a super day everyone.

Am going to be working outside today, I have a garden that needs to be dug over and compost dug in. Luckily it is in a shady area. Will be a bit damp with the rain but prefer that anyway.

Will pay some bills and craft later this afternoon.

Well off to knit and natter this morning, not sure what to take. Had key hole surgery on my left shoulder on Monday. Fingers crossed I will be free from pain now.

Morning
Hope all goes well for Mr P Popeye (and you have a happy crocheting day while waiting). Lovely that you are getting the support step-son Kuaka.

Lovely day here. Im enjoying having the company of a 7year old boy and I think he is making the most of having a captive audience as has chattered away quite a lot of the time. It was raining heavily when we woke yesterday so we arranged to go to the pictures in the pm but it turned out lovely at least it was cool in the cinema. We saw the Good Dinosaur a good kids film even if he thought it was a bit "sad" at times.
We also made pasta for dinner, I'm sure all Italians would be cringing at wheat we made but it was surprisingly tasty especially with some of the Parmesan we brought back with us and the boy certainly ate plenty of it with great gusto.
Today whatever we do MUST include water or I will be pestered all day hehe

Only managed a couple of rows of knitting yesterday - somehow once he was settled I didn't have much energy left!
Have a great day all

Garden again for me, need to finish what I started yesterday before I melted with the heat and humidity. The into town for a 21st pressie, crafting later on.

Happy knitting :)

Morning everyone

Was a big day yesterday, but everything is done. Didn't have time to get my crochet hook out really. They gave us a wheelchair and we honed around doing bloods, xrays and ecg. Even managed to grind a door, oops, but I wasn't the first and dare say I wont be the last lol.
And by the time I had time to crochet I had such a huge headache that I couldnt be bothered.

How people can work in there with no windows and no fresh air beats me. I couldn't do it. My lips were dry as by the time we got out. And surprisingly the motorway was still jam packed heading into the city at 2pmish.. Must have been an accident I reckon at that time of the day.

MrP is staying home this morning with Missy and keep the windows open. Tis hot already and no wind.
I have to make an appointment for me at the drs, silly me didn't learn my lesson with pringles and no teeth so will need antibiotics again grrr.. not as big an area as last time but cant afford to get bacteria into my heart.

The little passion fruit plants I re potted the other day are doing well. Ill make a sign later and put it out on the mail box to sell them.

Have a fab day evetyone

Morning ladies, ouch popeye re the Pringles! Yes you should have learned, but some things we never learn eh?

Well step-son arrived last night right on schedule, and we sat talking till late, and this morning he has departed and driven to Auckland, will be back tomorrow night. We discussed the little jobs I'd like him to do and or check out for me and he's quite happy about that and says he will do a barbecue for tea Saturday night, so that will be good if the weather is nice.

I have hurt the muscle in the top of my arm - bicep? - I used my elbow to help myself out of bed this morning and the muscle went "ouch - I don't like that" and is now sore when I move my arm in certain ways. I'll have to be careful I guess till it sorts itself out.

Had planned to go shopping this morning but decided to leave it till tomorrow, might take the recyclables to the tip this afternoon.

My dwarf beans are springing up like crazy and are now big enough that I can see them from the kitchen window. I need to get some more lettuce plants and put in. I've given 3 of the last lot away as we're just not using them quickly enough and they've grown enormous. I plan to extend the veg garden a bit. There's a small section (it's all raised garden) which is just full of old pots and junk, so I plan to get it emptied of junk and filled with top soil and compost and then start planting that bit too. Just need to find the motivation and the energy. I wonder where I can get some of that.

Enjoy your afternoon

Our beans are going nuts too kuaka, we already have some in the freezer for winter. Love them, especially with a grilled tomato. Wouldn't be summer without beans.

Lawns need mowing again so I'm heading out there while there is a big rain cloud overhead and it's nice and cool. Housework desperately needs doing too, lots of dead flies. Will try and get some crafting done this afternoon.

Happy knitting :)

Morning everyone
Yes another hot day on the cards, we have a breeze today. It was very still yesterday.
Ill be pottering around in the garage this morning to find something to paint a sign for my passion fruit plants for sale.

Then I have a mammoth Mission.. I have a blue pencil sharpener somewhere and I need to find it lol.. I have a good metal one in the lounge but would like one in the bedroom. I prefer writing in my diary with a pencil and it would just be handy to have a sharpener down there lol.. Otherwise Ill buy one when Im out lol

Third world problems hahaha.

Im going to at least try and do some crochet or knitting. Just really unmotivated to do anything in this heat.

Have a fab day all

Afternoon ladies. Man it's hot out there (and in here). Came back from shopping in Kerikeri and felt like a piece of chewed string, and a melted one at that. Had planned to get a haircut while I was there, but the no appointments place said there was a half to three-quarter hour wait (not sure why, there was only one person waiting - they seem a bit slow there), so I didn't bother.

Came home and Mr K is asleep in the armchair, and when he woke up he told me he should be in hospital - sounds serious coming from someone who doesn't like doctors and hates hospital. Time will tell.

Expecting step-son late this evening, he said not to worry about tea for him.

I did a little crochet after lunch but it's a bit too hot to work on the blanket, so I'm going to find a cool spot outside and do some knitting for a while.

Enjoy the rest of your day.

Wow Kuaka that is odd for MrK to say that.. Id have said, Ill ask you this only once, Do you want me to get an ambulance.. And then hoped he said yes.
Ive just nipped on cos I finally picked up my knitting, Bruno the Brontosaurus and it doesn't have any abbreviations, and I couldn't for the life of me remember SSK... So have just watched a video.
So Im set again.

Found the pencil sharpener lol.. not the blue one however.. I found a double red one that I have no memory of buying, and MrP found two metal ones lol... My pencil in the bedroom is now sharp again lol...

Hope everyone has found a cool spot
