Morning everyone
Yeah its a bugger being a women sometimes eh Kiwimade.

My shopping is done.. I have to wrap my friends but other than that we are done. we don't have big family get togethers cos I don't like travelling on Christmas day.

I did a white and pink beanie yesterday, after a very busy morning.

Off to the hospital again this morning. but Im going to ring before we leave, to make sure they haven't had emergencies in that might put us off.

Yay my sugars are improving , Ive lost 3 kilos in a week without even trying lol and the little bit of riding on the exercycle is helping.

Have a fab day everyone

Morning ladies, I have visions of popeye's friends all nicely gift wrapped and placed carefully under the tree - sorry - couldn't resist!

I emailed Arlec about my failed lights and they are going to replace them again, but I have to wait for them to send a container full of stuff from Australia then when that is delivered to the company over here, they will send the lights to me, so might be two months away. Meantime I will undecorate the tree, take the lights off, replace them with an old set (half of which don't work) and then re-decorate the tree. No point having a tree up with no lights.

Our Christmas lunch was quite successful, everyone enjoyed themselves and now we don't play till end January.

Mr K has a "happy birthday" today but he is not looking very happy - he doesn't think the medication the doc gave him last week is working. He is seeing her again tomorrow to see if he can pass a medical to renew his driving licence. I don't know why he's bothering as he never goes anywhere except on the odd occasion and I drive him, but I suppose it's a pride thing really, so if she fails him he's going to be really despondent.

Great news about your 3 kilos popeye, my weight fluctuates but I don't seem to be able to lose the last 3 kilos that I would like to lose. Maybe I don't try hard enough.

Have a good day everyone.

morning ladies :) Just waiting for my antihistamines to kick in before I head outside to the garden. The Furry One caught his ninth rabbit last evening so no breakfast for him this morning.

I must admit I had a good giggle at your post popeye and had pretty much the same vision as kuaka lol. Well done on the 3 kilos!

I'd be pretty brassed off with the lights too kuaka, we've had our cheap set from the Warehouse for years and they are still going. Our poor Christmas tree has been wrapped in so much tinsel you can't see the decorations lol. I'll 'undress' it and redo it I think lol but then again, our students had so much fun doing it, I might just leave it.

Haven't had much time for knitting, must make time to do some.

happy knitting :)

Morning everyone.

Lol I see what you all mean.. I guess my mind was elsewhere.. lol

I didn't put lights on this year. We never seem to turn them on, and its not looking any different for the lack of.

Yesterdays news about MrPs kidneys being safe has made the house happier. Roll on Monday as the dr said yesterday that he sees no reason for them to Not do his heart now. Fingers crossed.

MrP doesn't drive anymore. If he was to have one of his shakes he could kill someone or us. It was a fairly easy decision for him to make, as he never wants to be a danger on the road, His father used to have blackouts while driving. Thankfully he never crashed.

The furry one is doing well.

I did nearly half a beanie while waiting at the hospital yesterday. but none last night.

Im thinking of ordering some red James C Brett "Sparkly" wool from deramores. But thinking it might get lost in all the Christmas mail. Ive got heaps of white and want to make another red and white blanket but for us.

Shopping this morning. don't need much but thinking I might get extra so I don't have to go next Thursday Christmas eve. if I do have to go that day Ill be waiting for the doors to open or it will be a mad house lol

Have a fab day all

just come inside for a drink of water, it's getting hot out there already! Will work along the 'inside fenceline' in the shade next I think. My first Christmas Lily is out :) so quite chuffed as MrK replanted them as they were getting to big for the pot.

Morning ladies, well it's not terribly warm here yet, the sun is trying to shine through all the cloud, but it's not trying hard enough and it's a bit breezy. Not sure what to do today - better start by doing last nights dishes. We had a friend over for tea and we talked late and after he left I sat and fell asleep in the chair and didn't wake till 1am, so just got up and went to bed. Didn't give the dishes a thought and the fairies haven't done them.

As for the Christmas tree lights, my sister is still using the same set that my Mum gave her when she was first married and she's just celebrated her Golden wedding anniversary! Yeah, so 25 hours worth was a bit of a fizzer to say the least.

I might try to do some gardening today, or I might try to do a pair of curtain linings for the first pair of curtains I've made for my son. He needs 5 pairs in total so not a five minute job.

I was going to do a Deramores order, sat for ages and worked out what I wanted, kept adding things to the cart, then realised I wasn't logged in, and when I tried to log in it kept rejecting my password. I clicked on the "forgot my password" bit and was told I would receive an email, which I didn't. Tried 3 times, same each time, so I took it as a sign not to spend the money.

Have a super day everyone.

morning ladies :) Still busy outside, almost done with the weeding (for now) and then over the next few days I will do some Christmas baking. My family is coming Boxing Day for a BBQ and I want some things in the tins.

I picked away at my 10 stitch blanket last night, up to row 11 so it's getting quite big. It's pretty random with all the leftover yarn being used. The C2C blanket will be too heavy for a baby with the yarn I am using so might keep going for another single blanket. Amazing what the kids took when they left home lol. I now have three friends pregnant so plenty of baby things to be knitted - thought the days of having pregnant friends was long gone!

happy knitting :)

Morning ladies, I'm off to the tip later this morning with the recyclables and then through to Kawakawa to buy some more Christmas tree lights. Last night I asked a friend if she wanted to come for a drive with me and she said she would, then asked where was I going and I said "the tip with the rubbish", she said "charming!" but said she would come, I explained I was also going to Kawakawa then I said I was going in the old Safari not the car, as it needs a run. She said she will still come, bless her.

So I had better get cracking as I'm picking her up just after 10.

Mr K passed his driving test medical, but he just scraped through and the doc warned he probably won't pass next time. She's also referring him to a specialist as he's still in pain despite having antibiotics for a week. Won't be till next year sometime.

Good luck at the doctors Carolev, hope they can find out what's wrong.

Have a super day everyone.

Afternoon all.
A beautiful day out there.

Woke up with intense pain in my hip and back this morning. So I haven't done much at all.
We have heaps of recorded tv so have watched a couple of them this morning. While I finished a beanie.

Hope they sort your pain Carole.

Im seriously considering asking the dr to send me for an xray of my hip and back. Both have been checked but its a few years.
And I just don't want to be the same as mum whose hip rotted. So Ill ask next year. I know it will take a while to happen, but it will eventually.

morning ladies, guess it could be too close to Christmas, carole.

Second load of washing on, housework needs doing today. Gardens almost done, have to wait for the bins to be emptied on Tuesday before I finish the last bit. Won't take long to do so hopefully I can finish it all up and get lawns mowed in one hit. Then it will all be nice for our Boxing Day family get together. Can't believe the amount of weeds, I only weeded a fortnight ago.

Didn't do any knitting last night, was in bed early as I was falling asleep on the couch. Hopefully, will knit today :)

happy knitting :)

Morning everyone

Yep sales will be slow now, cos theres not much chance of things being delivered before Christmas, with the 3 mail days a week. My listings finish tomorrow, Ill do fixed price offers but wont relist till after new year now.

Very little pain today so I'm going to bake. Have to make a sponge for the trifle, and Ill do some white Christmas, but other than that I don't know yet. I got a nice biscuit book at the market I was at. And it had nice recipes with normal ingredients so I might get a couple of things out of that book.

MrP will be in Western movie heaven today. They start at 9-30 and finish at 5pm. So that will keep him occupied lol.

Ill knit when I sit lol.

Have a fab day all

Good morning ladies (just), I don't know why I'm so tired at the moment, but I feel absolutely exhausted, keep falling asleep in the chair at night, going to bed and most nights sleeping all night and waking late. I daresay it's nothing that a good long holiday wouldn't fix. Fat chance!

Well yesterday I did indeed take my friend to the tip with the recyclables (I didn't leave her there) and then to Kawakawa - we had a look round the shops (not that there's a lot to look at) and then home again. I stripped the tree once again and put the new lights up and then redecorated it. I haven't bothered with all the pretty balls, just smothered it in tinsel. I quite like it. Just couldn't face putting all the balls on after doing the tree twice already.

It's been quite cool here and we've had the heat pump on this morning, it's off now, but it's blowing a gale outside. Not exactly summery.

Good excuse this afternoon to put feet up and relax, have to go to town first though.

Happy knitting everyone.

morning we have FOG in summer too. not so bright today think I have over done the sewing

carolev - 2015-12-20 06:51:00
8467

morning ladies :) We had fog yesterday morning carole but it cleared quickly. Must be your turn lol.

I'm going to clean the windows today, the Furry One has left his nose prints where he looks out the windows and the kitchen windows need a good going over. Won't take long with the Karcher. Then I'll start my baking and wrap the pressies.

Did a bit more on my 10 stitch blanket last evening, the 11th row is finished. Need to do a few more for it to go over the sides of the bed, then I'll figure out a way to make it rectangular. Certainly not a quick project lol as I'm using scraps of wool.

Happy knitting :)

Morning everyone
Yes we used to have fog in Mangakino in the summer too.

And one year when we lived in Taranaki we had snow on the mountain on January 21st.. Its just a date I always remember lol.. We used to have Huge windows in the bedroom and when I opened the curtains there she was with snow on the top.

Not hot or cold here this morning. I have to pop up to the supermarket for a few things. Wrap my friends Christmas pressie and that's about it.

Yesterday a Secret Santa card arrived here. There was a lovely card and letter and a new world Gift card. Made me cry happy tears. And then the secret santa rang to acknowledge that they had seen my post in general.
Absolutely made my day. Im not saying on here who it was but most of you have seen it on FB.

Rightie a quick look around here and Fb and then Ill get up the road.

morning ladies :) oh wow sunflowers, there was nothing on the news this morning about the quakes, guess we are becoming too familiar with them and not newsworthy as much! Hope you are ok.

I'm back outside this morning, want to make the most of the overcast day and get the weeding finished and the edges trimmed. Will make a pile and plonk it all into the bins tomorrow when they have been emptied. Will mow the lawns early tomorrow, love living rural lol.

Still need to do some baking so that can be tomorrows effort I think.

I want to try something new, just not sure what. Might see if our daughter can teach me Tunisian crochet. Just feeling a bit restless I think.

Happy knitting :)

Wow rocking and Rolling in the Hawkes bay...!!!

The sun is out here, very little clouds in the sky.. Not much wind either.. So its going to be a hot one.

Off to the superclinic today for MrP. We will find out re his heart surgery today I think.

Had my friend round yesterday, we did our Christmas visit. Missy had the most fun with the paper lol... We just threw it at her and the floor for her to play with lol
My friend gave me a voucher for Vanilla which is a very classy gift shop we have here. And a Spirograph.. she knew I wanted one. So that's absolutely perfect. Ill use the voucher to buy a Christmas ornament from the shop cos they have some beautiful ones there.

Yes Kiwimade Im in a Flat patch of not knowing what I want to make. I really want to do a wool order but I guess its better to wait till after Christmas.

Hi all
Good on getting the weeding done Kiwimade. Not thinking what a mess my garden will be in when I get home, I have someone doing the lawns.
Hope Mr ps visit went ok Popeye and he has something definite re surgery.

Gosh the time is flying by - our last full week in Venice. We have been doing some day trips to nearby cities, went to Vicenzia and saw the Olympic Theatre, museum, old churches etc, been to a couple of lovely smaller towns. Always fascinating to wander through the narrow old streets also there are quite a lot of markets around at the moment too. We have found some lovely old carasoles which the kids enjoy and usually also manage to find a gelato shop which not only the kids enjoy lol.

Saw a nice looking wool shop yesterday - the first I have found - but just my luck it was closed ????
Think I have brought about the right quantity of wool with me though as have started a pair of socks and will have enough left over for a beanie or two so that will be this week's knitting at the rate I'm going and then a couple of balls for a scarf on the plane.

morning ladies, lovely to hear from you jayemtoo, am enjoying hearing about your trip!

Will mow lawns today, I've left a few cans of beer on the bins for the bin man, we do it every year for Christmas. Then the gardens will be all 'done' for our family Boxing day get together.

I baked a pistachio, cranberry and white chocolate slice yesterday (Chelsea Winter recipe I found on FB) and yep, it's pretty yummy lol. MrK and I had to 'test' it last night. Also made a family favourite (sister requested it lol) lemon slice and shortbread. Today I'm having a go at an Annabel Langbein recipe for individual pavlovas. Should work out ok as her recipes have never failed me so far.

Then I'll do some knitting all going to plan.

Happy knitting :)

Morning everyone.
lm loving hearing about your trip jayemtoo. I have a neice and her family in France, so getting photo updates on fb. I am slightly worried about their safety and yours..

Sorry I should have updated last night. mrP is to have his heart valve replaced. about February.Cos the Christmas, then Auckland anniversary and Waitangi are all coming up. was such great news.. Being done via the groin, so very easy to recover from.
The dr was saying some people are in and out in one day. But with MrPs other stuff it would be 2-3 days maybe.

The phone, fb and general on here were flat out last night lol.

So now we can sit and relax and not have Questions over our heads. Not knowing was horrible.

Off to do my bloods this morning and Ill pop into the gift shop that my friend gave me the voucher for, and see what may tempt me.

Have a fab day all

popeye333 - 2015-12-22 08:20:00

Interesting how they are going to do it through MrP's groin... took MrK days to recover, mainly because of the morphine. This way sounds so much better!

8480

What good news Popeye, now you will be able to relax more over Christmas.
Those recipes all sound so yummy Kiwimade.
We had a so called "relaxing" day today. 9 year old niece stayed with us all day we went to a vegetable market but as there was so much fog the handiest boats were not running so we had a bit of a walk to and from the boat and the market. We then took a load of washing to the laundromat to dry it as there is 100% humidity with the fog so takes ages to get things dry. Then niece and I went to local supermarket for the groceries and with having to decipher, ie guess, the labels it takes longer than usual. We then made pasta sauce and pumpkin pie for dinner, we are no way game to actually cook the pasta for the Italians here, so left that for them to do lol.
Now the other family has gone back to where they are staying and the little in bed we can sit down and actually relax.
Did manage a bit of the socks while waiting at the laundromat.

jayemtoo - 2015-12-22 09:34:00
8481

I wouldn't be brave enough to cook pasta in Italy either jayemtoo lol.

Little pavs are cooking and they look pretty good so far. MrK had a wee taste test of the mixture and declared it 'bloody good' lol. I bought some vanilla beans and put that in with the egg white and have made 'real' vanilla custard with the left over egg yolks and vanilla bean pods. The kitchen and my hands smells of vanilla lol.

Time for a cuppa I think, might read for a bit before lunch, then knit :)

Its amazing what they can do now Kiwimade.

I said to the dr if that choice had been around when I had my heart done, I'd had opted for it too. But it was only just being thought of 9 years ago.

Waikato hospital has the first surgeon in our country to do it that way.

I left hospital on the 6th day after my surgery.. which I thought was doing pretty well lol.

Yep I wouldn't want to be cooking pasta and sauce in Italy either lol...

The baking on sunday has barely been touched . Ive had two pieces of white Christmas and I think we have had two pieces of lemon shortbread lol

I ducked into the supermarket when I went to do my blood it was busy... Went to see if I liked anything in the shop I got the voucher for. Only one thing I liked which was some wooden letters, but they didn't have and S.. so that was no good lol.

Will wait for the new year. Its an expensive shop.

popeye333 - 2015-12-22 12:21:00
8483

Afternoon ladies, well I'm not normally home on a Tuesday afternoon, so it seems quite strange. I have had a busy couple of days, trying to tidy up the garden, and now I've made a start on curtains for my son. I made one pair the other day (still have to do the linings) and today I've almost made another pair - again the linings are a separate issue. I shall go back to the sewing room shortly and get today's pair finished.

Mr K is asleep in his chair, he fell asleep half way through lunch, so I just took his plate away from him.

I'm not very happy at the moment, I've got toothache, well not ache so much as "tender". It's a molar that years ago had a root canal filling, and the last time it was filled it wasn't done very well. Last time I was at the dentist he x-rayed it and said there's not enough tooth left to drill and fill, so to wait till it gives trouble and have it yanked out. Well it hurts if I bite on it, hurts when I brush my teeth, and it feels a bit loose. I'm not having it pulled this side of Christmas but will get it done early in the new year - something to look forward to - NOT! Meantime, I will have to be careful.

Happy knitting everyone.

some sensodyne toothpaste may just get you through Christmas kuaka.

Baking all done and in the freezer for over Christmas/New Year and daughter's birthday next week.

It's too hot to knit, I think I'll go bring the washing in and then see what else needs doing :)

kiwimade64 - 2015-12-22 15:51:00
8485

Or Oil of cloves from the chemist.. for tooth pain.

I had all mine out 6 days before Christmas. Thankfully I had no pain, and I enjoyed French toast for Christmas lunch lol.

I think the last few months have caught up. We are both very tired now.

Ive just drawn up the layout for the pretty pastel granny square blanket with the three sizes of squares. So I might sort out some colours. Squares aren't too bad in the summer.

Ive decided to leave my wool order till the new year. I emailed them and asked what the delivery would be like and they suggested cos they are having a lot of specials it might pay to wait till after. So Ill do that and feel safer mailing wise. And the yarn I want isn't in stock anyway.

I did a yarn swap in the last couple of days and Ive just added to my Wool Crepe Collection. I will have to get it all out at some stage and repack it..

Funny that I love Crepe. Mum hated it.

Have a good night all

morning ladies :) We have to pick our ham up today and mrK has a few bits and pieces to buy for the vegie garden. I need to buy more tomatoes and some cream for Boxing Day and that's it for town. MrK is off to play gold with his mates around lunch time and later this evening we're going to a BBQ.

The TV died last night, it has been flicking on and off for a while now but I guess last night was the last straw. Now to decide whether to repair or replace, it is five years old (which I don't think is 'that' old!) but for electronics it probably is old. Will do the maths and we'll make a decision.

Happy knitting :)

Morning everyone.

Our TV is dying a slow death, MrP has wanted to replace it for a few months.
It starts off with vertical blurry lines and takes about 20 mins to clear. But after that it goes fine.. So we are hanging on for now.. Its about8 years old I think. we do have spares if it dies, which will have to do till we have finished paying the car off.. Just a few months to go lol.

Going to be another stinker of a day I think, too hot.

I have a few things I need to do in the ktchen

Then Im going to play with my crepe wool and get that sorted out. And some hanks wound into balls.

My eyes were the worst they have been yesterday gritty and weeping. It was horrible. Better today so far tho.

Have a good day all

nope, no spare and I doubt we will miss it. Will give us a chance to dig out those CDs we haven't heard for a while! And the radio is on all day until the news any way so we'll keep that on.

morning ladies :) We've decided to wait a bit longer before we buy a new telly, didn't miss it at all last evening. Mind you, we went to a BBQ but when we came home it was nice to have the radio on (we leave it on for the dog lol) so had a cuppa and read for a bit. This could be an easy habit to get into!

Just need to pick up the strawberries I ordered and paid for a fortnight ago and that's it for outing and abouting for me. Will start the quinoa salad and baste the ham and leave the rest of the cooking for MrK. He loves doing it and who am I to stop him? Will flick the duster about like Lady Muck and clean the loo and bathroom :P I should have time for some knitting before I pick son up this evening.

Happy knitting :)

Morning ladies, I'm up early as I couldn't sleep but also want to nip to town 'cos yesterday I didn't buy the potatoes at the 4 sq because they were a breed I'd not heard of so decided to leave it and buy them at Countdown, but they only had 2kg bags for $6.99 whereas I usually get 10kg sack for $10 or $11. So back to the 4 sq this morning. Also wanted a gas bottle refill but there was a price war on petrol and diesel yesterday so both service stations were chaotic, so hopefully if I go early this morning I can get the bottle filled. I'd hate to run out of gas and not have a spare bottle.

Home to do the ironing and maybe finish another pair of curtains for my son, and then the rest of the day is mine. Feet up with a drink and some knitting - my idea of bliss.

Have an awesome day everyone.

All bright eyed and bushy tailed in here.

We got to the supermarket at 6-45am.. It opened at 7am and we were in out and home by 7-35.
It was bust when we left. All put away now.. Only thing I forgot was some scorched almonds but they will be there after Christmas, so Im not worried about that.

We wound two hanks of wool yesterday. Wasn't easy for MrP but he got there. My ribs and chest are a bit achy tooo. Using muscles and my stupid ribs in a way it doesn't usually work lol.

I have one to go, and Im thinking I might use the handles on the exercyle it wont slide anywhere. It may not be wide enough around tho.

Auckland Hospital rang yesterday they are sending out some information for MrPs surgery. And will be called in for Pre Op Mid January. So they are onto it.

Ive never had such a quiet lead up to Christmas lol.. it doesn't really feel like its happening yet lol.

Safe travels for those going out today

Christmas greetings and may it be a happy day for you all.
We are still preparing, have just made an apple pie and an apricot tart - special request from niece as I use an old family recipe for the pastry.

We are going out this evening for a fish meal as apparently that is the right thing to have on Christmas Eve then will wander through San Marco square to see the lights.
Enjoy your day
