I just love that message grizzly I will have to go to the internet cafe to keep in touch with you from Thursday as I am off to spend some time with my baby sis and then I will stay with Mum for a few days. Got to keep the home fires burning while our pal smartgirl is away. Ha ha. Registered with craftmag and they put a few good patterns and offers on their newsletter so it is great. Went to the gym and it nearly killed me after that pruning yesterday. Phew!!!! Sorting out clothes I do not wear to take to my sis. Medication has put pounds on her and she was as skinny as a rake. Taking Trini and Suzanna's advice and clearing out. Ha ha. Nearly finished my 2nd mohair beanie and scarf. Managed to squeeze in three beanies for teabag so I am not doing too badly. How is the packing going?

Met with current landlord last night, agreed with us that some of the things on the moving out list part of tenancy agreement don't need to be done. Hooray, less work and expense for us. Have to go on a search for boxes to use for packing then it's all on. Don't panic while you are away I will keep bumping this up to the top so we don't fall off the end of the board! Maybe it's a chance for some of our readers to join in???

Thats cool thanks Bubs is sleeping but we can hear a baby crying on the monitor. It is our neighbours baby down the hill. Isn't that a good baby monitor? Going to dash to the shops once baby wakes up. Spotlight have a Thomas the Tank Engine special and we want to get an art smock for our neighbours boy who is 4 next week. He is Autistic and loves TTTE. A bit drizzly here but promise of rain. Yey! Checked grandson's assignment and after he had made a few changes was happy. Ha ha. He has to give a practical demostration and as he is a shy boy we have had him practicing on us. Off course the printer played up but his dad sorted it. Yes sometimes Landlords try to pull swiftys but there is such a thing as normal wear and tear.

These things weren't wear & tear even but we had changed the dreadful wooden light hangings in the lounge to our lovely glass light shades for example and had promised to put the other things back up. Thank goodness he 'saw the light'and decided he would put up different ones himself. You have a good trip tomorrow and enjoy the time with your family.

Heading off grizzly Stopping in Hamilton to spend a day and night with my best friend who is really ill. Packing for a week to go to three different places was a mission. Ha ha. Got the needles, the wool and the sewing kit. The cats were trying to get in the car as I packed things. Nearly forgot my books. Have been reading a couple of chapters a night ever since I was about 9. Reading Frank Herbert's Biographer( The guy who wrote the Dune books amongst many others). Very interesting and espeicially comparing the film Star Wars to his books and those of other Sci Fi Writers. Those movie people steal, pirate and copy many ideas from other writers. Catch you on Friday.

There is life out there!!!! Hi ixcelm8!! I tried to keep up with more than but I was ending up late for work in the morning!!! I now restrict myself to the one I enjoy the most. If a topic comes up that catches my fancy I have a wee look butI am completely devoted to my 'net friends on this thread. I agree with the UFO's though:currently to finish a wee fairisle hooded jacket and pack to shift and get audits done for the shop.

810

It's finished! Didn't have enough wool for the hood so it's a cardy instead, still happy with it, though.

Hi grizzly Well have I been busy. Stayed with my sick friend in Hamilton for 2 nights, then went to Rotorua, stayed with my sick sister for 2 nights. Moved to Mum's and we have been visiting during the day and sorting out Maori Land Papers at night then knitting. ha ha. I need to knit before I read my couple of chapters. Accomplished a lot so happy about that.It is colder here than at home so glad I have brought winter woolies.

At Edgecombe today Visiting a niece with Mum and Sis. Have heaps of plants and cutting to take home. Ha ha. Had a car full of stuff when I came and will return home with a car load. sigh. Tried to go to the Internet Cafe but was always too busy to whip into town. Niece has internet so here I am. Be home by Friday night. Still have another sick friend to stay a night with in Hamilton on my way home.

Went to a Market Day on Sunday and the prices they charge for knitted garments is astounding. Grizzly we could make a fortune if we lived there. Got a lot of neat ideas for mosaics from an Artist who came over from Te Puke. She had some inspiring art pieces. Well friend look after yourself and I will back in full flow soon. Have a neat day.

How lovely to hear from you!!!! Sounds you are having a great time, you'll need a rest at home to get over your break away! It's a nice dream to one day have lots of money but not going to happen for me, I think. Hubby changes his hobbies too often and my craft is about doing it and loving someone buying it not the profit in the end. Silly me. I wonder when smartgirl gets back?

816

Good Morning everyone, I have finally had the time to sit down and do a catch up browsing through the threads. I have had a wonderful holiday. I spent the Easter and the weekends with my daughter and grandson and the days in between with my sil. We drove half way to Sydney, and stayed in a couple of lovely places on the way. Back to reality now.

smartgirl - 2008-04-10 09:56:00
817

Wecome back, and glad to hear you have enjoyed your break away. Did you get some new craft ideas from oz?

grizzly4 - 2008-04-10 10:26:00

No grizzly, but I did buy a lovely knitting book for babies at Mullembinby. If only we had a shop like that one here. It looked like a patchwork shop and it had a wee sign saying wool. I went there and it was like Christmas. If only I had room to bring back some. I was over 10 kgs overweigh in my luggage but my daughter was flying back to Auckland on her way to a wedding in Rarotonga so she brought a bag back for me.

smartgirl - 2008-04-10 11:07:00
819

Sounds like you might have some new projects underway this winter! Looking forward to seeing some photos.
Pregnant daughter told her work she is finishing up on 30 May then found out she has diabetes. I assume its the pregnancy type but they are not saying much. Poor thing, she's having a dreadful time. Midwife says she'll be holding her baby before the date she's due to finish work, though.

Hi Girls Home again. I had a ball. It was so much fun to catch up with everyone. Mum showed me her weaving and I nearly caught the bug. Ha ha. Spent last night with my girlfriend in Hamilton. She is knitting for her 6 months old granddaughter so we enjoyed knitting and yakking on about our grandchildren. Today before I left I cleaned out her warddrobe for her and we were in stitches as we sorted clothes out. My heavens cannot believe we were that thin.

makerealbany - 2008-04-11 19:30:00
821

Well smartgirl Our pal grizzly has certainly kept the home fires burning whilst we were cavorting around. Isn't she neat. So glad you had a really good time in Aussi. Saw this really neat wool in Spotlight but it is $16 a ball. Sigh.

makerealbany - 2008-04-11 19:32:00
822

Yay, the gang's all here! Missed you both heaps, I have to say. Felt a wee bit nuts talking away to myself!! The prices of some wool are horrific, we do not have a cheap hobby any more. Remember when knitting and sewing was the cheapest option to clothe our families? I'm finding some of my favourite brands are disappearing off the shelves for a few weeks and then comes back at least $1 per ball dearer.

grizzly4 - 2008-04-12 09:45:00
823

Its great to be home. I have never been away that long before and I thought I would miss it but I did not. Grizzly wool is very expensive here and Aus so it must be worldwide. Makereal, glad you had a ball. Next time you are down or I am up we must catch up.

smartgirl - 2008-04-12 11:01:00
824

I had ever buy wool unless it is on special Cannot afford to. ha ha. Got enough wool to last me for about 3 years I guess but I still see the odd bargain and succumb ha ha. Will surely catch up next time I am down smartgirl I missed talking to you too grizzly. At my son's. Been shopping for groceries and now we are off to younger son's for a barbeque. Think he is trying to hold winter back. Getting cooler now. Was freezing one night last week.

makerealbany - 2008-04-12 17:42:00

spelling mistake I never buy wool etc. My brain was in overdrive.

Car was running like a hairy goat last night Did not think I would make it over the Harbour bridge. Had my son and grandson with me to go to another son's place for tea. Was a wreck when we arrived. G gave me his 2007 Falcon to take his brother home and then I had it for the night and took it back this morning. What a dream to drive. Sigh better than my old 1984 model. So we took my car to G's work carpark and he will whip it across the road tomorrow for me. Spent the day lolling about at my son's, had tea there again and he drove us up to Orewa to my daughters. Be up here here all week as she is working every day this week. Weather a bit rough. Good knitting weather.

makerealbany - 2008-04-14 00:09:00
827

Car problems are a nightmare! I've stopped hubby from tinkering to fix the small things because he aways 'finds' something else that needs fixing once it's all in pieces. And it never costs what he said originally!!

grizzly4 - 2008-04-14 07:56:00
828

Dont you just dread it when you hear a strang noise from your car, think of a price and double it. I had to go the the acc doctor on Saturday. I had been told by heaps of people that they are on acc side so I was dreading seeing him. He confirmed that my condition was what had been diagonised and is writing to my doctor to change my medication to something that will let me sleep through the night or at least better than I do at the moment. I also have to go for a mri scan.

smartgirl - 2008-04-14 08:21:00
829

What a lousy day outside Nice inside though. ha ha. Grandkids at school. Lovely. My kid's Dad always fixed the car when he was alive. Only one of my 3 sons is mechanical and that is the sick one. MRI scan is how they found my shattered discs smartgirl. They are amazing examples of modern technology. Cool at lest you are still moving along the line so to speak. Isn,t it funny how we can always hear or feel things wrong with our cars and no one else can except the expensive mechanic. That is why he is expensive!!!! Ha ha. My eldest grandson is not too bad but he lives in Hamilton.

Having a break from knitting Another ostrich scarf, nearly finished it. I am sick of knitting black. Have to do another black one for a sick friend but have another week before I need that done. Got another mohair(cream) Beanie and matching scarf to do so will start that stuff tomorrow.Cannot wait to start knitting colours again. Ha ha. J is doing her homework and keeps asking me historical questions about up North. She has a lot of homework for a 12 year old. Still raining. Fantastic. Tanks will be filling at home, gardens will be watered and banks will stop cracking or maybe they will slide down further! I hope not.

Afternoon girls Still pouring here. Noticed a vine rambling over one of the sheds here and low and behold it is laden with Chayote or Chokos. So have been surfing the net for recipies. You can substitute it for any Marrow or Squash dish. Rather bland but absorbs the flavour you season with. I have corned silverside in the slow cooker so will do chokos in white sauce to go with it. Will have to make choko jam and pickle as there are heaps of them. Well that will keep me out of trouble. Though I would not mind being in a spot of bother once in awhile. Being good can be darn right boring. Ha ha. Grand daughter has paper run this arvo and we will most likely all be drenched as we do a few streets. Sigh. Got 4 balls of blue mohair on TM yesterday after I said I would not buy anymore wool. I saw it and I was a pushover. Good price and it is bright Yah.

Raining here today after a lovely day yesterday. Shame as I have to take a client into Births, Deaths & marriages this morning. Never been there since they shifted and I hate driving in the inner city in wet weather. The worst drivers come out in the rain, don't you think?

Grizzly, they look great I am knitting my 9 month old a little outfit from the new book I brought. She has been really tiny but has just started to really grow. I thought I was knitting her size but it is way too small. I will finish it and sell it and have to do her a new one. Little darling

smartgirl - 2008-04-16 10:15:00
835

Yes I hate driving in the city at anytime but in the rain is nervewracking. I cannot get into to see your vests grizzly. TM says they have a technical probelm. I am jealous smartgirl. You saw them. I think I have a jinx attached to me as far as technology goes. Drat. Will keep trying. Printed a lot of patterns on the net last night. I had a ball when the kids were in bed. Ha ha. C (14) has strained his back playing Rugby League and he has a stomach bug. Poor kid looks and feels lousy. Thought I might knit a Mohair shrug for my daughter so I will walk to the bank, pay my TM and then buy some coffee, come home and knit. There is no instant coffee in this house but 3 different sorts of perc coffee. Sigh. I only drink that once a day if then Ha ha. Rain has eased so I should keep dry.

makerealbany - 2008-04-16 10:31:00
836

Technical problem? Is that the way I have put the photos on or something else? What a shame you can't see them, makerealbany. Thanks for the feedback, smartgirl. What did you think of the cardy photo from a few messages ago?

grizzly4 - 2008-04-17 08:08:00
837

Message No 810 I really love doing the wee fairisle things. Have lots of sox & bootees to do for a TM order. I'll be doing them in my sleep!

grizzly, I loved that wee cardi I am having so much trouble with this little 2 pce set that I am unpulling it and knitting a 3 pce set. It was supposed to be all in one sleeveless with a matching v neck cardi. I am now making pants, s/sleeve top and cardi. A lot more practical anyway.

smartgirl - 2008-04-17 09:25:00
839

Loved those vests grizzly And the lovely cardi. Grandson taught me how to access images properly. Hurrah!!!. Went in to spotlight today after I dropped J at soccer practice and got a book. Spotlight,s Knitting Essentials was $2.99 on special and it is full of Moda Vera patterns as well as heaps of knits. I was so pleased. All that Wool I got on special at the end of last season can be knitted now. Also most of the Moda Vera Wools have patterns on their Labels now. They have a lot of sock wool as well. I have been known to undo things as well smartgirl. Ha ha It is frustrating when something does not turn out the way we wanted. It took me 3 gos to knit a jersey once. Then I gave it to my sis.

REmember that Aran cardy I knitted for myself over Christmas? And no I still haven't sewn the buttons on!! I've got a bit of a problem with the front bands folding back so the underside is showing when the cardy is not done up. I think this has happened 'cos the reverse stocking stitch part of the pattern goes right up to the front edge where the band is sewn on. Any ideas what I can do to stop them folding back? Really cold down here at present and would love to wear it!

grizzly4 - 2008-04-18 08:18:00
841

Got me stumped there grizzly I have been trying to remember if that ever happened to me. Don't think so but I understand what you mean cause I like my cardis undone at times as well. I will think on it while I go wash my girl's car had to borrow it. No news of mine yet. Shudder!!!!

Makereal, I picked up one of those books, they are great value even at full price, but I seem to get them when they are on special. Heaps of different patterns.

Hi girls Yes grizzly I spent ages on that site last week. Copied heaps of patterns. Back at home today. Took J to soccer at Devonport and she was checking the map and we got lost as usual.Ha ha. They won 9 nil so was a good game but they grade next time so their team will go up a grade and then the games will be harder. We have moved stuff out of what will be my lounge and kitchen into our new shed. I call it the TajMahal because it is so flash. Ha ha. So we are progressing. Yah.

Hey smartgirl I am just catching up on my emails. Heavens girl you have been busy. Ha ha. I have to get my address book sorted because my computter is not set up yet so I use the one in the house and I need to spend time sorting out email addresses etc.

4 days to go till we shift on Friday. Thank goodness it's stopped raining so we can run over the lawns and a few of the plants I put in the garden that I want to take with me. Then it's on to defrosting the freezer and cleaning the oven. Fingers are really sore from hanging the landlords new drapes so we can take ours down to freshen up. Need to knit this avo as I have so many orders to get done.

grizzly4 - 2008-04-20 10:16:00
848

Well done grizzly, you will feel so much better when you move, nothing worse than bad feelings. you should have made him hang his own drapes. lol.
I have been watching the supercars and charity knitting. I am supposed to do it on a monday but for the last 4 have not been able to do so, so I have made up this weekend. Its a great feeling to get a parcel ready to send off.

Gosh you girls have been flat out today I haven't done much really except normal chores and tidy up. The most notable thing was to play with my granddaughter. Ha ha . She is quite a little character and very entertaining. It is hard to leave her. I must admit I adored my children when they were young but with 5 of them I was always so busy. Now being a nana, I always have time to play with my grandchildren because I am not the main caregiver. You know what I mean?

makerealbany - 2008-04-20 19:18:00

Absolutely even the chores around having grandchildren like meals and nappies are to be enjoyed! Feeling a bit knackered by yesterday afternoon till 11month old grandson came for a visit. Just a cuddle or two and a smile from me picked me up no end.
