good morning and how are we all today rain hard last night

Morning
Popeye - I dry them for 2 minutes on high - single layer on a paper towel although I find I can do more of the small petals as they shrink quicker and the big ones tend to stick together if touching.

Hot night but it's supposed to rain later. I don't really like driving distances in the rain but off to Hamilton later, start of holiday. We leave on Monday.
Still a bit of getting organised then off its starting to feel real now.

Have a good day everyone

morning ladies :) nice jayemtoo! bet they smell lovely too.

The rain was very welcome last night, raining a bit more now and I'm hoping it will hang around a bit longer. Housework is all done so it will be a good excuse to craft today.

Edited to add, have a wonderful time jayemtoo, safe travels :)

Happy knitting :)

Morning ladies, jayemtoo - I'm very envious of you and your holiday. I went to Venice on a school trip when I was 14 and would love to go back again. Not likely to happen in the foreseeable future. Have a super time and come home safely.

Rain woke me this morning, so I got up and dressed quickly so I could retrieve the Herald before it was soaked, but it was half an hour late and wrapped as well, and by the time it arrived the rain had stopped. It's just murky looking now.

Yesterday I tackled the bedspread. What a mission. The actual alteration was easy enough. Undo one seam, and relocate it. But because it's king size and nice slippery fabric and weighs a ton and I only have a teeny weeny sewing room, I felt like I'd done a couple of rounds with Mike Tyson by the time I'd finished. Course I also had to lug it up and down stairs a couple of times, because once I'd pinned it I decided to try it on the bed before cutting off the surplus and sewing it. Just as well or I would have made it too small. I still have to shorten the bit that folds back over the pillows, but it looks so much better now that there's not a foot of it trailing on the floor.

Might do some more sewing today, maybe try to finish the bag that Carolev embroidered the pocket for. Still quite a bit to do on that so might not complete it, but we'll see.

Mr K is still in bed, he got up late yesterday and was back in bed before lunch, and stayed there, had lunch and tea in bed. Wonder what he will be like today. Daughter hasn't been to visit yet, she moved Friday last week. She will see a change in him, as she hasn't seen him since January and he wasn't looking too bad then.

Time for another cup of tea.

Have a super day everyone.

Morning everyone
The rain was lovely last night. Had 6 spots this morning lol. Still humid tho.

Have a wonderful trip Jayemtoo, hope you find some nice wool shops too lol How long does it take to get there? I gather there would be a stop over somewhere.

Still plodding on my blanket. I added a row on the long sides last night and will do a full round. Then probably do the same again, to make it look wider.

This morning I will do some cds for the car first tho. In the process it will help empty the drawer on the tv cabinet that we want to dr tomorrow.
was going to do it today but theres now way in heck im going to disturb the tv and recorder before Coro is finished. I recorded last night and haven't watched it yet.

And of course his Lordship now tells me he needs a new drill bit to do the holes for a big screws we need to put the wheels on, he knows we are on a tight budget which is why we got the wheels ages ago and the screws since then.
So Ill have to go get one, I reckon its more he cant be bothered looking through his mess to find one.

Have a fab day all

must be a day for drill bits popeye, MrK broke one of his and needed it to be replaced. Wasn't expensive at all. Bunnings had the best price :)

MrP has looked, which will be a Man Look and not moving anything to try and find it lol..

When he tells me what size he wants Ill be able to get one lol

Have tried copying cds this morning. but for some reason they wont play in our player, so Im going to shoot out to the car in a sec, if they play in there I wont have to get more, otherwise Ill be up the road for them and a drill bit lol

Morning
Looks like a nice day here in Hamilton.
Somebody was having fireworks last night they started about 10pm and managed to make them last for nearly 2 hours letting off a series of big bangs about every 10 minutes - not helpful for sleep!,

Spent yesterday pm with the 7yr old who is going with us and he chatted away non stop, it will be interesting seeing things from his angle and hopefully he will sleep at least some of the way.
Popeye it takes about 11 1/2 hours to Hong Kong where we stop for 4 hours then the same to Italy.
Did quite a bit of knitting yesterday evening so glad I popped into Skeinz for a couple more balls before leaving, fortunately the alpaca wool is very light and goes a long way.

Have a good day all

morning ladies :) yep, the Waikato has turned on the weather jayemtoo, just lovely here. Once my antihistamine has kicked in I'm going outside. Roses need deheading and there is always plenty of weeding, especially after all that rain.

Will get some crafting in this afternoon, having a tutu with my hooks at the moment.

Safe travels jayemtoo.

Happy knitting :)

Morning everyone.
A beautiful day out there.. Going to hang my electric blanket on the line soon, to blow any dust out of it.
Then its the start of the tv cabinet job. MrP is claiming weak legs this morning. I know he just doesn't want to do the cabinet , but it has to be done. so ill do as much as I can.

Its a heavy hunk of furniture, and difficult to move around. So putting wheels on it , once its done will make it heaps easier to use.

Wow Jayemtoo that's a long trip. Hope you have an awesome time

I have 2/3rds of a side of the blanket left to do and a few ends to sew in. Then its done.Ive enjoyed doing it.

Have a fab day all

Morning ladies, well I didn't wake till just after 9.30, and seeing as I nodded off during Master Chef and woke to Doc Martin, then went to bed early, all I can say is that I must have been tired.

So, I'd better have breakfast soon.

I crocheted a little baby beanie to go with the top I made recently and the c2c blanket I'm still working on. It's that lemon twinkle, which when I ordered it, thought it was off-white but I ordered the wrong one. It's okay, but lemon isn't my first choice for baby stuff.

Had planned to pull out the spinach and silverbeet which has gone to seed, but it's just started raining, so that will have to wait. If the rain keeps up I might have to spend the day crafting. I did some of the bag yesterday, then realised I'd sewn a couple of bits which should have been done a bit later, so I had to unpick so I can do other bits first. Talk about cotton-wool brain at the moment. So I'm not really much closer to finishing it although I did make the handles yesterday.

Have a safe trip jayemtoo - yes, it's a long way. It's about 24 hours to the UK, and done it with a stop over and straight through, and either way it's still a long time to sit on a plane, especially if like me, you can't sleep on the plane.

Have a super day everyone.

kuaka - 2015-11-29 10:24:00

Well 13 days for the blanket. not bad I suppose.. it doesn't photograph very well.

https://trademe.tmcdn.co.nz/photoserver/full/429121042.jpg

But Im happy with it.

Now what can one do lol

Got the tv cabinet wheels done. The temper was at it early on the job. But that's cos he expected me to know how to use a blunt drill bit in a really heavy drill. And to know how to use a jigsaw without any experience too.

But its done, and Im happy with it. I haven't put all the guff back onto it and am enjoying the nakedness of it.
Till next weekend and Ill be getting the Christmas stuff out.

MrP slept four hours this afternoon so I was able to finish the blanket and enjoy two episodes of Downton Abbey. A few to go lol

morning ladies :) lovely blanket popeye, love subtle colours. Well done on using the power tools, no reason why we can't use them too!

Back outside for me today, outside windows need going over with my Karcher as the cleaner I sprayed on the house has streaked and left a mess on them. Won't take long to do. Need to mow lawns again too. All that rain we had and everything is going nuts in the garden lol.

Might do some crochet while watching Jonah's service this afternoon.

Happy knitting :)

Morning everyone
Overcast here, not really sure what the day will bring. not cold by any means.
Thanks for comments re the blanket. I like it, lovely little girlie colours.

Our lawn needs doing again already too, its going to be long by next Monday that's for sure.

I didn't start anything new last night. Couldn't think of anything I wanted to do.
Today Im going to write our Christmas cards, to get them out of the way and I might even do some colouring in.

Hope all goes well for you tomorrow Carole.

Have a fab day everyone

Morning everyone.jayemtoo have a great trip. Like kuaka I have found it hard to sleep on the plane.Last trip was two years ago for me,DH did a trip this year. It took him a few days to get over it.LOL

Worked four days last week, the kids can't wait for end of the year. Have 3 days this week job share at present which has be great. Both students keep us very busy.

So very little knitting this last week. Need to get some wool on my loom as I have a few projects for over the holidays. It cooler than knitting in the heat of HB weather.

Off now to do some Birtthday Shoopping. Then aan hour or to in the garden.

Everyone enjoy your day.

morning ladies :) Good luck at the hospital carole, better to know what's going on than being sick all the time. And on the plus side, there will be plenty of knitting time!

I bet you breathed a big sigh of relief sunflower when puss turned up. Always a worry isn't it.

The Furry One caught another rabbit last evening so no breakky for him this morning. He was chasing another one earlier too.

Supermarket today, we have more students arriving next week so there will be 'extras' to buy for.

All going to plan, I should be able to do some crafting this afternoon. Didn't finish the outside windows yesterday so will try and finish them first.

Happy knitting. :)

Morning everyone.

Good luck Carole, Im sure all will be well.

Much happier household this morning. Now that MrP s scan is back on..

I wrote up our Christmas cards yesterday and actually remembered to use the little address stickers Ive had for years. cut the writing down that's for sure lol.

Im going to see if I can find some simple instructions for a chevron blanket.. Just so I can see the V bits lol.

But first I have to nip up the road...

Morning ladies, good luck Carolev, hopefully you will be sorted soon and then free from pain.

I have finally finished the "owl bag" (well except for two rows of sewing across the bottom) and I'm quite pleased with it except that I should have washed the denim first, as by the time I'd sewn the binding on down the sides my hands were black. Oh dear.

I have to show you a pic of this beauty which is in a pot on our deck:

https://trademe.tmcdn.co.nz/photoserver/full/429438346.jpg

Unfortunately it's really my least favourite colour but it does brighten the place up. There are still 13 buds on it yet to open.

I've also got a rather nice petunia - last year was the first time I've grown them and I have to say I was very impressed, they flowered all summer.

https://trademe.tmcdn.co.nz/photoserver/full/429439439.jpg

Going to put some runner beans in this morning before I go out for the afternoon. When I finally cleared out all the spinach and silverbeet that had gone to seed, I found one one runner bean had sprung up from last year. Grumps always say they come up year after year, but I dug all along that patch yesterday and all I found was the remains of two tubers which had rotted away. There was nothing else. Just as well I bought some more beans last time I went shopping.

So no crafting for me until this evening.

Have a super day everyone

morning all. well good news is the bowel is all clear but Dr thinks pain is coming from around tail bone so I got to get a refrual to get MIR and xray
still in pain they did not fix that. did not get much knitting done apponitment was 2.30 was back in car by 3

carolev - 2015-12-02 06:39:00
8376

Morning ladies, well carolev I guess having a clear bowel is good news, but still leaves you wondering what is causing the pain. I went to the doc a year or so ago 'cos I had a bad back from helping Mr K out of bed when he first broke his neck, and she sent me for x-rays which showed "degeneration" - charming, so it's official, I'm on the downward slippery slope to falling apart.

I finally finished my bag yesterday. I have a little enamel owl that I want to attach to the zip but I need a small split ring for that, and I don't think I have one.

Have to get myself organised, knit and natter this morning and this afternoon we have the final visit from the dietician.

Had a phone call from the hospital yesterday, cardiologist wanted to see Mr K on Monday for a six month check up but Mr K says he's not well enough to travel, so they're going to phone again after Christmas. At the rate he's going he'll be no better then either.

Cooler here this morning and overcast, I should have been putting the runner beans in today not yesterday when it was absolutely sweltering, I was nearly melted by the time I'd finished. Never mind, I don't have time today so just as well I did them yesterday.

A pink lily which I bought at the warehouse has just opened up into flower, and it's a lovely deep pink, not pale pink as the label shows. I would have bought more but it was the only one they had. Typical.

Have a super day everyone

Morning everyone
Glad its not your bowel Carole. Tailbone pain is something I understand, from when I ruined mine when I fell on the concrete garage floor..

Sounds like MrK is just being a naughty boy who needs a kick in the butt Kuaka. Hes wasting drs time by not attending appointments.. MrP doesn't get the choice. I make him go. Perhaps get a couple of pamphlets from funeral homes and flash that under Mrks nose...

I didn't do any craft yesterday but Ive had an idea to try later on. I have a friend coming around to look at toys today. So cross fingers everyone that she buys more than planned lol

I need to do some weeding. My most unfave job lol.

Have a fab day everyone

popeye333 - 2015-12-02 09:13:00
8378

That might be a good idea popeye, except he keeps insisting I have to shove him in the hole within 24 hours - not sure how I will achieve that. The dietician wasn't impressed that he's lost another 6 kg in a few weeks (wish I could) but I think she basically said "enough, some people you just can't help" and gave up. As I showed her out she said "he's difficult". Yep, couldn't agree more, and I should know.

kuaka - 2015-12-02 18:53:00
8379

Morning (well it is here!)
Hope they get on top of the pain thing soon Carole, not funny having a wonky back. How ultra frustrating Kuaka re Mr K. I agree with Popeye re the kicking hehe.

Well we finally got here to Venice it was a very long trip - all up about 50 hours as we had a 12 hour delay in Hong Kong which they kindly put us into a hotel so we could at least have a shower and be horizontal for a few hours even if not much actual sleep. Then a delay in getting the train from Milan to Venice so we arrived about 11pm. Fortunately nieces husband met us at the station and helped get cases - and us onto the ferry as of course everything looks so different in the dark.

Had absolutely no problem with knitting on the plane and there were a couple of ladies crocheting as well only problem I had not fitted in quite enough wool in my carry on so ran out a bit sooner than I had planned!

Had the best sleep ever but having a couple of quieter days catching up with family and sleep.

Ciao

morning ladies :) Good to hear you arrived safe and sound jayemtoo, enjoy your time away :). Kuaka, I would be pretty peeved with MrK as well. My MrK had depression for quite some time and it was hard yakka at times as he simply refused to do anything. There were times I could have bopped him on the head and quite happily gone to jail for murder. Sounds awful I know but it was an extremely difficult thing for both of us.

I need to finish the outside windows today, have more students booked in for next week. One lot leaves in the morning and another arrives in the same afternoon. This weekend we are babysitting our grandy over the weekend to give her parents a weekend off.

Good luck with the MRI carole :)

Will do some crafting this afternoon, not quite sure what, but it will be something :)

Happy knitting :)

Morning everyone
Kuaka Im glad the dietician realises how Difficult MrK is.. It will filter back to the drs etc. MrP has been very hard work. But over the years Ive learnt to accept it.. If he wants to give up and be Obtuse that's up to him, but he knows I will make him attend every appointment he needs to.
Took me a long time to stand up to him tho. And in the end I told him if he wanted to act like a 2 year old I would treat him like one

Glad your trip went well Jayemtoo even if much longer than planned. Have fun.
Don't do too much lifting Carole.

Still nothing crafty for me. But Im thinking about a red and white granny square blanket. Using the sparkle red, it might wait a little tho cos Ill need more of the red and the CC has to have room before I use it. Id rather prepay it before I order lol.

Shopping this morning, more wasted money lol

Have a fab day all

popeye333 - 2015-12-03 08:49:00
8383

Afternoon ladies, I'm just home from a shopping trip which took longer than usual, so of course when I walked in I was greeted with "you've been gone a long time". I expect he thought I'd cruised round all the op shops but in fact after I'd got the groceries, I went to the hairdressers and splashed out on a haircut as it was such a mess from when I hacked all the anti-fouling and paint out of it back in September. I had to cut it so close in one spot it was almost bald and it's taken a while to grow enough to need a cut. He made no comment, didn't even say it looked nice (don't think it's as good as the cut I got in Hamilton - and was more expensive and I had to wait over half an hour - but I took my crocheting and did half a baby beanie)

Then I had to go to the warehouse to change some things and bought a few more. Bought a new bedside lamp because Mr Ks one died a few nights ago, and when I got home he announced it's working again. Don't ask why it wouldn't work the other night - no idea.

So I'm just having a cuppa then I'll sort the meat and fish out and put some in the freezer, it's just in the fridge meantime. I was going to get a duck for Christmas dinner but this week they had none, only duck breasts at $18 so I got a free range chook instead.

Right, better drink my tea and bring the rest of the groceries up the stairs.

It's sweltering outside, so I won't be doing much this afternoon, especially as I was still awake at 4 this morning. Might have a nana nap.

Enjoy the rest of your day.

kuaka - 2015-12-03 14:23:00

I too put the colds in the fridge and took a break before scanning them and putting them away Kuaka. Just sooo hot.
The supermarket was super busy as it was Club shopping day. It was Bedlam. People going both ways in the isles and screaming demanding kids.
We did a normal shop other than some extra meat.

Tea will be ham and salad, too hot for anything else.

popeye333 - 2015-12-03 15:24:00
8385

Oh and did I mention I'm not going to Kerikeri again till after Christmas, after New Year if I can manage it. Anything I want from now on will have to come from the local Countdown.

And I'm definitely not going near the Warehouse for weeks.

kuaka - 2015-12-03 15:28:00
8386

Hi
Am sitting in an ice warm house happily knitting, making a cowl as a Christmas present. Was out most of the day well rugged up as certainly cold out, partly due to the dampness from the canals.
Sister and I took the ferry over to St Marks square and then walked through a lot of small alleys back to the train station before catching a ferry back home. Last time we were here it was summer and there is certainly a lot less tourists around at the moment which is a bonus.

Pity we couldn't even out the temperatures a bit as we are rather cold whilst you all seem to be rather too hot lol.

No wool shops on Venice but next week we are going to a large shopping centre on the mainland so I will certainly be looking out for one - not sure if will find one or not.

Getting organised today as we're off babysitting our grandy for the weekend tomorrow. Will pack my needles. My daughter won the 'yarn lotto' on FB so can't wait to see what she has won.

Morning everyone

I bet its lovely tho its cold Jayemtoo. I take it the mainland isn't far from Venice?
Take a day off Carole.

Im sending my wool to your Daughter Kiwimade. I knew there was something I was meant to do yesterday lol.

Still no craft for me. but yesterday I picked up a Christmas stocking that was crochet. Its granny squares so I got it to use as a pattern. I figured if Id just tried to remember Id have forgotten. And it was only $1

Glad I did buy it cos we went to the supermakrket was bedlam lol.

We have appointments for MrP next week, then the normal GP the week after and then on 21st at the superclinic. The last one is mid afternoon. It will be soo hot. And the roads will be horrible. But it has to be done. wont be shopping that day, that's for sure.

Have a fab day all

8390

Hi
Great that your daughter won the yarn lotto Kiwimade will be interesting to see just what she gets.
Good idea getting the stocking as a pattern Popeye,

Yes all the water around here raises the humidity hence the damp cold. The mainland is only about 10 minutes by bus or train from Venice, there are no motorised vehicles on Venice so we get a lot of walking. We are just back from the market and feel quite pleased that we got everything on the list despite having virtually no Italian between us - niece who is fluent wasnt with us.

jayemtoo - 2015-12-05 00:05:00
8391

morning ladies :) Oh well done jayemtoo lol, I find sign language (lots of pointing lol) works for me when I talk to people who speak a different language to me.

We're off to do the Nana and Poppa thing this morning and babysit our grandy. Have a few things tucked away to spoil her with. And my knitting bag is all ready to go.

Happy knitting :)

Morning everyone.
I don't think Id like Venice in the summer then with all that water around making it humid.
It must have been fun in the market. Do they use the Euro there?

Have fun with your Grandy Kiwimade...

Went to my friends yesterday who had been given heaps of wool, knitting, patterns, needles etc. she had chosen a big bag for herself and on for her daughter. and I have got the bulk of the rest.
The knitting is basically all finished, just needs sewing up and buttons or ribbon added. So I finished two cardies last night. and have bonnets and booties and a lovely red cardy to put together.
These will go back to my friend ad she can distribute them to cma or where ever.

Today is decorating day, then I can give the floor a good vacuum to pick up the tinsel etc that drops.

So have a fab day everyone

popeye333 - 2015-12-05 09:05:00

Good morning ladies, a very late start to the day today as I had another sleepless night and at 3.30 gave in and took half a sleeping pill. Found another bag full of scallops on the doorstep when I went to get the Herald in, so shucked them straight away. Don't know how long they had been there but they smell okay. We'll have them tonight.

Finished my c2c blanket and a beanie to match (I've already done a top-down top also), and decided to get back to my 2ply shawlette that I have been struggling with. It's so easy you wouldn't believe I could go wrong, but I did, so I frogged that, found a nice cowl pattern and I'm now on my third attempt at that, and find I'm two stitches short so the pattern isn't working out. The first row of pattern worked okay, so I must have dropped a couple of the "yfwd" without knitting them. grrr. I'm about to frog it yet again. The wool will be worn out before I actually get it knitted up. I wouldn't be bothering but I love the colours.

Right, so better go and search my stash as I've just had a request so I need to see if I have the right wool.

Have a super day everyone.

Well the Christmas decorations are done. Ive done the less is more this time . Still looks nice.
Missy helped, I always spread a sheet on the floor when putting the tree up to catch the mess so she helped spread that out.
Only played with the tree cos Mummy was playing with it too. And hasn't gone near it again.
Mind you she knows Im armed and dangerous with my squirty water bottle lol.
Ill be back to the booties and bonnets later

morning ladies from Taupo :) Not quite as exotic as Venice though lol. Our grandy is still sleeping, I put her to bed around 7.00pm so am not complaining about lack of sleep! Not sure when mum and dad will be home but it will be sometime today. No knitting, have been reading instead. Just a bit easier to manage with a snuggly staffy X dog wanting my lap! She's a tad bigger than the Furry One lol but all cuddles, whether it's for a grandy or a big softy dog are freely given.

Happy knitting :)

Good Morning Ladies.
It is 23 now at 7.30am here in Napier,so another hot sunny day.Spend an hour out in garden and back out once I have my cuppa.

Went to K & N Friday and now finished a small beanie and another on the needles.Doing two at once. Friend and I are having a stall at Country Market next March.
Visited a market in Hastings yesterday afternoon. All craftstalls, no junk which is good to see.

Well garden is calling me so catch up later with you all.
Have a great day everyone.

Morning everyone.
A beautiful day out there. A cool but strong wind on the front of the house.

A mammoth vacuum this morning, once Ive checked everything on here.

Its nice seeing all the decorations up. Had to jiggle a few things on the Tv so the remotes still worked lol.

Am now sewing up a lovely red cardy. Its a shame the knitter ran out of the original wool. The last two rows of the neck band are in a different red. But will be a nice cardy for home.
Once that's done Ive finished those little jobs. And Ill start the blanket I was given ages ago. Its gold and mustard from memory.

In the patterns I was given the other day is a beautiful knitted blanket done in 4 ply. Im going to give it a shot. Will be different from working on my shortened needles that's for sure.

The lawns are sooo long, due tomorrow. With heaps of parspallum (SP) stalks. Cant wait till that's done lol

Have a fab day all

Morning ladies, cooler here with a good breeze, sunny at times but only when it peeks out from behind the clouds.

I was late getting up again - seems to be a habit I'm forming. Oh well. I sleep when I'm able it seems.

I've got several things on the go at the moment. You wouldn't believe it but I frogged that little cowl yet again. I discovered that I have a shorter fixed circular needle which is working better than the shortest knit pro combination that I could put together. Also I find that the tips on the knit pro are quite sharp which worsens the problem if the yarn is the "splitty" type. So now I've done 20 odd rounds and it's looking good even though I know there's a mistake hiding in there, because the stitch count ended up wrong. I searched and couldn't find the mistake, so I just knitted two together to get the stitch count right.

I've also started a "age of steam and brass" shawl, and am about to cast on a fancy tea cosy.

Might cut curtains out later and make a start on them (for my "little boy")

Have a super day everyone.
