And finishing a cardy. It's on a yoke and that's where I'm up to now. LOL.

And the weeds are waving at me from the garden!!

grizzly4 - 2018-03-03 08:39:00
8353

WE had a great night at Woodford Glen last night. The weather was so calm and mild for a change. The Demolition Derby was worth a laugh.

grizzly4 - 2018-03-04 10:28:00
8354

I hope your weekend went well and you are safely back home, makerealbany.

grizzly4 - 2018-03-05 06:05:00
8355

Arrived back last night. The Hui was a nightmare but we finally came to an agreement. I do not intend to travel down there for awhile so fingers crossed I don't have to. The driving is getting harder for me given the stress levels of such events lol. Although I remained very calm. I amaze myself at times ha ha. My sister and cousins say I'm the Diplomatic one so maybe after all this time I have learnt to wade my way through the stream without drowning .
A is off today for a week but S returns late tonight so I will be getting help there.
I'm going to price and list materials this week as I have far too many and need to destash for the space .

makerealbany - 2018-03-05 06:35:00
8356

Oooh looking forward to seeing those listings. LOL. MInd you last thing I need to do is clear my stuff just to refill the space with yours! Ha Ha. I am home today with one of the headaches that started about a year ago up the back of my neck. I've never had them like this before and are taking increasing amounts of painkillers to get rid of them. Still have to go to the hairdressers though as I've already changed the date once and it's the only gap left in my calendar this month.

grizzly4 - 2018-03-06 08:38:00
8357

Hope your headache got better. I have been nursing my back which just decided to play crunchies lol.I have rested all day and SIL is home so I am back in my cottage yippee.

makerealbany - 2018-03-06 23:12:00
8358

Every bone in my body hurts and I have no idea why. Grrr! I have to go into work today as the Women's Group is scheduled. It's a craft activity making dream catchers today.

grizzly4 - 2018-03-07 06:29:00
8359

You poor thing. Dream Catchers should be fun. A lady on one of my Facebook Groups was making dreamcatchers and wanted donations of craft things suitable. I offered her some things and she said she would make me a Dreamcatcher so I sent her a pile for my dreamcatcher and a crystal to put in it. I was going to send one Mum gave me but at the last minute before I sealed the large Courier Bag I took it out and put another one in. Never heard from her after the initial thank you and Ill get yours done asap. Mum was watching out for me that day lol.
It has now decided after Thunder and Lightening to pelt down with rain. Ah well I can sleep nicely to the sound of rain.

makerealbany - 2018-03-07 23:26:00
8360

And it looks like you will get more of that weather with another Cyclone heading our way again. Crazy these days isn't it? Couldn't be bothered cooking tea last night so we tried a new Mexican restaurant. Loved it at the time but within half an hour I was in major pain because of the chillis and capsicums in the meal. Suffered fior hours. I thought I had picked a meal that would not have that effect but I was definitely wrong. Ok this morning if a little fragile but on we go. LOL. THat will teach me not to be lazy about cooking.

grizzly4 - 2018-03-08 08:03:00
8361

Heavens you are having a bad time of it. Yes the weather is crazy. I hate to say this but I made some really hot Apple and Date Chutney for K8 to give to his other grandparents , They like my preserves. I even made my friend 3 Crocheted face washers today as I had given her one at Christmas and she wanted more lol. I watched TV and relaxed crocheting. My back is still out so another easy day.

makerealbany - 2018-03-08 22:53:00
8362

Not good about your back but I'm pleased to hear you are resting. I am using up the ends of balls left in my knitting bag. LOL. I'll have a few pairs of bootees for the shop on Monday. I plan a quiet weekend, mostly on my own, pottering around here.

grizzly4 - 2018-03-09 07:30:00
8363

Well, I've slept in a bit this morning. LOL. Would you believe after all this time of not speaking to me DIL has offered to take me to and pick me up from a days training on Tuesday where parking is a nightmare. I was stressing about it so I'm very grateful and it means I'll be able to see B12 to give him his present as well. Can't believe he's 13 on Wednesday.

grizzly4 - 2018-03-10 09:58:00
8364

No the years have flown. Fancy that DIL doing something nice for you ha ha.
So she should. My only DIL now is lovely and always has been. Best of the bunch and she is a stayer lol.
I have just rested really. I even started knitting a shawl, Its a pink gradient for a great niece. Lord that sounds really ancient ha ha. I slept in the last two mornings until 8.

makerealbany - 2018-03-11 00:28:00
8365

Had a great day yesterday and watched movies till midnight! LOL. Knitting, knitting, knitting.... LOL. Groceries today and some floors top wash thenm going out for dinner - just the 2 of us to Winnie Bagoes for pizza.

grizzly4 - 2018-03-11 09:57:00
8366

I went to the Library with J7 and then we played in the park for an hour. Came home and had to lay down and sleep sigh. Knitted tonight,

makerealbany - 2018-03-11 23:14:00
8367

I hope you felt better after your sleep.
I have a huge week ahead starting with the shop this morning, new staff at work this afternoon and a management meeting tonight. I have started a fairisle cardy in shades of dark teal, inca gold, dark red and deep purple. Should be nice to start my winter stock off in the shop.

grizzly4 - 2018-03-12 06:12:00
8368

Today is the first day workshop on my Leadership course. I was really excited to be accepted on to this course over the next 9 months, this morning I'm just really nervous. Have you ever done the Gallup Strengths Finder, makerealbany? I did it 2 years ago and thought I remembered what my top 3 were - empathy being top. However I found my -paperwork this morning and empathy is no 3! So why does it keep getting in the way?!!

grizzly4 - 2018-03-13 06:28:00
8369

I cant remember doing it but no doubt have done the same kind of test ha ha. Empathy can be a real problem lol. We have a new Apartment Building that opened up here and they are using the Innovative, Sustainable, etc Line to sell them. They have not got one Carpark. So where will the Tradesmen park to repair things? It is in a busy street with hardly any carparks duh. Also I was reading about a BackPackers who refused a Kiwi a part time job stating that as it was an International Backpackers they only employ people who live there. What the devil is going on?
Anyway my back is still out so I'm using a walking stick. I kid you not ha ha. Bonus I'm over halfway through my shawl. My grandson came to see his Aunt last night about his employment. She is acting for him in a wage dispute. He came over to see me. I managed to make him take a box of preserves and was delighted when he said he loved Beetroot Relish , He is the only one who eats it besides myself. A his girlfriend loves this shawl so Ill make her one next. I have to go to the GP for my usual but seeing as driving is out it will have to wait ha ha.

makerealbany - 2018-03-14 00:05:00
8370

Not good about your back, at all! I was reading about the backpackers, too. Crazy, eh? We were looking to see what houses are there before signing our lease again and I was surprised how many were more rent than we are paying and yet there is no garage, some had no off street parking either andb yet they are stand alone houses. We signed for 12 months this time instead of 2 years.
I'm pretty tired already after 2 very long days so far. Today the Women's Group is exploring the rebuilt Art Centre so I'm looking forward to that. Grandson B is 13 today and not sure if we'll get to his fish and chip tea but I drop his present in yesterday when DIL took me to my course.

grizzly4 - 2018-03-14 07:10:00
8371

I'm hobbling around ugh. Rents are so unreasonable but up here with so many homeless they can charge the earth for a run down dump and get it. grrr
I could not cope with work these days. Takes me all my time to get up and cook, etc. Hope this improves soon.

makerealbany - 2018-03-14 23:39:00
8372

I hope it improves for you soon, too. My day starts with an early meeting, the last one before the Youth Festival on Saturday evening that we are the umbrella group for this year. Hopefully it's a shorter day as I have Supervision clients this afternoon and won't go back to the office afterward. I keep falling asleep in the evenings this week so my knitting isd not progressing as well as I would like. Going to the Art Centre was wonderful, beautiful art and craft on display and for sale but my favourite 2 pieces were between $8,000 and $10,500! LOL. Typical. I did buy a journal called 642 things about me. It is quite funny with questions and topics to write about. I thought I might fill it in and leave it for my kids. LOL.

grizzly4 - 2018-03-15 07:16:00
8373

Eventually, I mean. Not any time soon. LOL.

grizzly4 - 2018-03-15 07:16:00
8374

I'm pleased to hear that ha ha Yes definitely eventually''''-
You have indeed got expensive tastes ha ha. I finished the pink shawl. Just have the ends to sew in and I can block it. Started the black in 4 ply . It has a green tinge to it. Not much improvement here. T went to the Specialist today and he says he is pretty certain she has Rheumatoid Arthritis. He wants xrays of all her joints before she starts treatment as he is not happy about her knees and arms. She is having a hard time of it as she is so busy at work. I cannot help her until my darn back eases up. I'm not going to let my GP see me or she will send me back to the Specialist and he will try and talk me into fusion again. To hell with that ha ha.

makerealbany - 2018-03-16 00:11:00
8375

So many decisions to make health wise for you and T! I feel for you both.
Boy, it was a full on day yesterday starting with an early meeting that was twice as long as it usually is but I guess the event is tomorrow. LOL. The rest of the morning was running errands related to the festival tomorrow and a fundraiser on Sunday. THen I had 2 Supervision sessions. One young woman is in such a difficult situation working for a trust with one other worker who has the title Manager. She is actually the Administrator/funder while my client works with the clients and organises the building they use. PLus there is no employment infra-structure in place by the Board of TRustees. I don't know how these organisations get away with it sometimes and it's the person doing the best for the community that suffers the most. Sigh.

grizzly4 - 2018-03-16 07:38:00
8376

I agree that Some Boards of Trustees are dropping the ball as far as Employment infrastructure goes ugh. Had an afternoon with T trying to work out a plan for her. Told her to turn her phone off. lol. I just finished a Maori Research Questionaire on our views of Asian Countries and how we interact with Asian People in NZ. etc, A very thought provoking exercise. Hope your Festival goes well. Busy weekend for you.

makerealbany - 2018-03-17 00:28:00
8377

Thank you and yep, pretty hectic. Yesterday was a bit of a nightmare but we got there in the end. Today is overcast and cold unfortunately, I hope it clears before event starts at 4pm. Tomorrow I. is racing so a day knitting and watching him with son S. who has another 3 months off work as his shoulder is not healing.

grizzly4 - 2018-03-17 09:23:00
8378

Festival over till next year. Phew. It was good event but very cold. We are off to watch I. race today so I will take my knitting.

grizzly4 - 2018-03-18 08:50:00
8379

I so enjoyed the day out. I. came 4th over all which was his best ever effort so far. He is tickled pink. LOL. Son S's shoulder is not healing and has been referred to a specialist for possible surgery, at least another 3 months off work. DIL was very pleasant yesterday but I read this morning midwives may follow if the Nurses decide on strike action which will be ver difficult for them on 80% of his wages. B13 is a bit cocky these days and wasn't particularly pleasant to be around yesterday being a bit of a bully toward L10 and rude to his parents. I still have a couple of bands to do on the cardigan which I haven't rushed to do as I haven't had time to look for the right buttons. LOL.

grizzly4 - 2018-03-19 06:22:00
8380

Hope this gets through having trouble with my internet. Back is coming right thank goodness

makerealbany - 2018-03-19 22:08:00
8381

I'm pleased to hear about your back improving. I thought Auckland had the best internet service!
Cardigan finished except for getting the buttons.

grizzly4 - 2018-03-20 07:32:00
8382

Its my Lap top. It keeps doing weird things and I hate the phone ap for TM . Its awful. I have security but I think there is a virus somewhere grr. Yes Auckland had good internet service but some of our lines are so old they all need replacing. Halfway through the black shawl. I'm off to get a haircut tomorrow. Its that time again ha ha.

makerealbany - 2018-03-21 00:01:00
8383

Women's Group time for me again today. The project I have for them today is an art work on canvas involving kitchen utensils! LOL. I's birthday today he's 62. He organised a new helmet as his present so haven't done anything except book a table for dinner tonight. LOL.

grizzly4 - 2018-03-21 07:37:00
8384

How did the artwork go. I used to enjoy the canvas painting with our groups. I have a third of the wool left to go on the shawl. Had heaps of paperwork to do today and then another form comes from the bank duh. Tax Residency and Foreign Tax Information. What a pain. But necessary lol. Our next court case is on the 27th of April so some breathing space. My printer ran out of ink today so I have to order some more. All this stuff costs a fortune and guess who is paying for it all. Yes right. Off to GP tomorrow. ;Last tests ok so feeling good about that.

makerealbany - 2018-03-21 23:49:00
8385

I hope you get reimbursed! The artwork turned out great. They all look completely stumped when I explain the projects LOL then one by one they come up with something amazing and so different from each others. Tonight daughter S and I are going to the ballet 'Le Piano'. I'm really looking forward to it but weirdly a bit anxious too. Not sure what that's about but I'm glad I. is dropping us off and picking us up.

grizzly4 - 2018-03-22 07:07:00
8386

I think I've done too much over the last couple of weeks and I have crashed today. The ballet last night was amazing but a couple of times I felt a bit seedy - wasn't going to let it get the better of me though. It was such a good night. By this morning though nausea is back with a headache so not going into work although there was plenty I wanted to get done with 2 short weeks ahead. Oh well.
How did your GP visit go?

grizzly4 - 2018-03-23 08:56:00
8387

Oh you have been working too hard my friend. Just try and rest over the weekend. My visit went really well. My tests are all good except for one so I am trailing a new medication for a month and then I have to have more blood tests to see if it is helping or not. I feel really well though and my back is so much better, No knitting tonight. Too busy. The kids are flying to Dunedin. Going to the concert there and then picking up a campervan to travel up to Queenstown to see my granddaughter, etc. They are away for 10 days so Ill be by myself. I pick up E6 for the night tomorrow and then I have a list I want to get through ha ha.

makerealbany - 2018-03-24 00:24:00
8388

10 days to yourself! Oh my gosh what have you got planned?

grizzly4 - 2018-03-24 09:15:00
8389

I got a few things done yesterday including some mending and hemmed 2 prs of new jeans for I. I hate mending with a vengeance. LOL. By lunchtime I had another wicked headache, sigh. Grocery day today and I have to redo the rockery, the weeds have come back so fast.

grizzly4 - 2018-03-25 10:36:00
8390

I took E6 to meet her Mum in the city today at lunchtime and the traffic was so awful. I visited my son who lives in the City after that and drove home in more traffic. A and S are having a great time with J22 in Queenstown. A's friend L and her two teenagers are here staying for two nights as they are going to the Concert. I have all 3 dogs in my cottage tonight and tomorrow night. They are all settled and asleep until 5.30. Tess usually barks so I have to start the toilet run then ugh. I finished the black shawl so I have two shawls to sew the ends in and block.
I started knitting a different pattern tonight but it appears to have mistakes. After undoing the same row three times I frogged it back and that pattern can go in the bin ha ha.
I have a list a mile long to do ha ha. Speaking of hemming J7 has grown so tall A had to run out and buy him winter pants for the snow and I had to hem them. Black at night is not nice ha ha. He went off happy though,

makerealbany - 2018-03-26 00:13:00
8391

Lovely weather down here at present so managed to get the front garden tidied at least. Yay, it's a short week but so much to do....

grizzly4 - 2018-03-26 06:59:00
8392

Yes it was warm here today as well. I washed all day and packed up stuff to put away. Getting cooler at nights and in the mornings.

makerealbany - 2018-03-26 22:29:00
8393

Yes, and darker.... I don't like waiting for daylight to arrive. Can't put summer clothes away yet as we had 24 degrees yesterday and Sunday and supposed to be 27 here today. JUst need a cardy first thing. LOL. Did you ever read the Crosstitch series of books? I started a few years ago but gave up after 5 as they are quite heavy going in parts. I have recently found the DVDs of a TV series made called 'Outlander' based on those books. So far I have watched 3 DVDs (8 1hr programmes) and that's only half of the first book! LOL. I had also forgotten how blood thirsty they are. Oh well, will keep going. The DVDs are only out to Series 3 so far so could take me a while. Good knitting time though especially during the gory bits. LOL.

grizzly4 - 2018-03-27 06:27:00
8394

Yes it was hot here today and I was in shorts. A said they were hot down there today as well. Yes I have read the Crosstitch Series , They are indeed bloodthirsty ha ha. I might check to see if the Outlander is on Netflix, I have just finished Diana Gabaldon's Steven Stones to Stand or Fall which is a Collection of Outlander Short Stories.
Started a Triangular scarf which is in 4ply . A lovely green in a Bendigo Lux wool. Its so soft and is curling so Ill knit another 5 patterns and then cast off. Ill wash and block it to see if it retains the shape without curling. Otherwise I may have to add something to it. Sigh.

makerealbany - 2018-03-28 00:02:00
8395

In 4ply - that's a bit of a mission! Well done you. I get very frustrated with picot edges as well, I find they always curl so I don't bother with them much anymore.

grizzly4 - 2018-03-28 06:19:00
8396

Went to a Knitting Group tonight from 7 to 9. It took me an hour to get there but was fun. Took me 30 mins to get home. Two of the participants worked with my daughter at the hospital and were very nice. Asked after her and told me what a fab person she is. Small world. I also learnt a few things about circulars.

makerealbany - 2018-03-28 23:50:00
8397

That sounds like fun. Have you seen the new type of circular needles Knitworld are advertising? Apparently they are for smaller bits of knitting and look like a cross between double pointed needles and a circular needle. NOt cheap at nearly $40. I had a large group of 17 yesterday morning decorating their Easter cakes. Their chatter was deafening, lol. We are off to Blenheim to cherck on Mum and Dad tomorrow, back home on Sunday. Hopefully the paint fumes weill be gone by then. Landlord has finally organised the painting of the bathroom ceiling but by the look of it that is all not the rest of the paintwork that is alsoflaking off. It is all convincing me they are about to sell up. THis will be our last year here. We've had a good run though, it's been 8 years.

grizzly4 - 2018-03-29 06:01:00
8398

I cant believe you have been there 8 years. I would put your favourite plants in pots. I wish I had tenants like you when I had rental property.
No I haven't seen the new needles. I have seen all types of circulars though including interchangeable ones.
Hope you have a lovely weekend with your parents.

makerealbany - 2018-03-30 00:07:00
8399

It was a good trip to Blenheim and and back but a bit longer than expected because of the damage caused to the roads around Kaikoura again with the recent cyclones. Mum and Dad are ok - not great but ok and I wish I was closer to help out. Not that Mum wants me to as she is a firecely independant Irish Woman. LOL.

grizzly4 - 2018-04-02 09:03:00
8400

Yeasterday was one of those days I flet like I had hit a brick wall. Not very productive at all apart from picking up the end of month bookwork from the shop and making a chocolate cake. LOL. I had a day like that about 10 days ago and couldn't go to work so I'm going to start marking them on the calendar. It's like all my joints completely seize up and I feel so lethargic but frustrated and tearful at the same time. Weird. I did sew up a fairisle jersey I had finished in Blenheim and knitted up some baby sox. Today is a day off work as the schools are closed so it's a day for all of us to use up surplus hours etc. Damn painter will be back today apparently after initially saying tomorrow. So much for a day to myself Grrr. It better be the last day as they've dragged out a minimal job already.
