Went to Skeinz yesterday and got more wool so now well set up for a wee while. Doing some socks from wool I dyed a couple of months ago.

morning ladies :) We're off this morning to buy a new laundry tub of all things! My old one is rusty and the taps refuse to turn. Really miss my nice new one I had to leave behind when we sold our home in town. Then housework, then some knitting I think.

Weather is pretty rough here, thank goodness I got done what I did in the garden over the last few days.

Good Morning Everyone. Hope you are making lots of sale at the market Popeyes.

DH did not sleep well last night. Hip is playing up alot at present.Did some cleaning while he sleeps on.

Wind up again,blowing heaps of fruit off our fruit trees.Was going to garden today,leave it for another day.
Well not sure about the rest of today. Hopefully some sewing and knitting.

Hi All.

Well that was a bit of a fizzer. Very few people came to the market. I made the grand sum of $21. So didn't lose any. But it was just dead quiet.

I also spent lol.. Got a $49-99 set of red kitchen scales for $10.. I was stoked.. I had scales and kitchen timer on my lost of what I wanted to get in red to add to the kitchen.

It was worth a shot tho.. MrP reckons I should advertise in the paper and set up the gazebo on the front lawn and have a market there, rather than a garage sale.
So I will look at that when the weather settles a bit more. Maybe mid December

I was very lucky in that a lovely lady helped me carry things in and my friend arrived in time to help me put it all back in the car. And helped me unload at home.

It hasn't put me off tho.. other than I think the coat hangers will end up in my wardrobe as the postage puts people off on here

Lovely day here hope it is further up the island as going to Hamilton for the day to "gate crash" a 80 yr olds birthday hehe. In other words a surprise visit to a BiL and my sister up there - will take R & R (sister and her hubby from here). It is only a small family afternoon tea party but will be good to catch up with that family.

Have knitting in bag already so just need to finish coffee, get dressed then off.

morning ladies :) Oh well popeye, it was worth a shot!

We had a massive thunderstorm here around 4.00am, the thunder was so loud the house shook and the lightening was amazing! The Furry One barked like crazy at t he thunder, really giving it a good ticking off then dove under the blankets lol.

So much for buying a laundry tub, came home with a plum tree, some nuts and bolts, herbs for the garden, an underlay for our bed, a Christmas pressie and a half eaten sausage roll lol. Will have another go at buying the tub today!

Morning everyone.

What an awesome storm we had last night. Blew, thunder lightening rain for hours.. I love a good storm. The fire brigade were busy tho. And have been called out twice in the last hour too.

Am thinking of having a market using the Lions hall.. Its cheap enough to hire and could advertise for sellers and cover the hall cost. will get va contact number today from a friend.
Yesterdays wasn't as advertised as well as it could have been. Ill do a better job. And might see if I can get prizes donated for a charity raffle.

A quiet day here although I have to duck up the supermarket.

My friend is bringing iin a shirt to get me to sew the buttons on better. she can do it herself but doesn't have the cotton choices I have. and she's takings a friends son out for his birthday, so I offered to do it.

Well the wind up again here. Sun is out just.

Oh dear Popeye that was not good. Friend and I are doing a Country Market Day in March 2016 and they have been advertise it since the start of Nov and calling for stall bookings which close at end of Nov

No crafting here yesterday. Ended up cleaning out my kitchen cupboards, a job and half.Have one wall in cupoards Perhap this afternoon, I may get some crafting done.
Off shortly to the market in town and coffee with friends later on.

Morning ladies, we had that violent storm too, but it didn't last long, I didn't see any lightning but the thunder was defeaning - not quite as loud as when Paul was here and slept through it, but the cat was terrified and spent the next half hour "yowling" at the top of her voice. That was at 5am, and it took me ages to get back to sleep.

I gardened for hours yesterday and slept through half of coro st and all of Last Tango in Halifax so will have to catch up "on demand". I still have 6 lettuce plants to put in later today, and do some more weeding if my back will let me.

Had a skype call from Mr Ks daughter in Australia yesterday, she hasn't seen him for about 30 years, and talking (by messages) to the grandson afterwards, apparently she was in tears afterwards, she was so shocked by his appearance, and fears she won't get here in time to see him, as she's not able to visit till next year sometime.

The other one has moved so we can expect a royal visit anytime soon. This will only be her second in two years. Be interesting to see just how frequently she does visit now she's only 25km away, reckons it is going to be every week, but time will tell.

Not good news about the stall popeye, but at least you sold something, in all the times I did the stalls, I never had a day when I sold nothing, but sometimes I didn't sell a lot. I think $31 was my worst day. Take away the $10 it cost me for the stall (at that time) and it wasn't a very profitable day.

Good luck with your plan to have a market yourself. If I lived nearer I'd have a stall with you.

Right, better have breakfast - it's almost brunch time.

morning ladies :) Wow kuaka, 30 years! That's a long time not to see someone :(

The laundry tub is in the laundry, just not connected. Apparently one of the hoses leaked as the join didn't fit properly so it's off to the plumbers we go this morning. Can also take the old tub to the scrap metal guy at the same time. Now to save up for the tiler to come and put the tiles down in the laundry/loo/entrance and that part of the house will also be finished. I already have the tiles :)

Back out in the garden for me, I have a corner to finish as well as de-head the roses. That wind we had over the weekend has caused a bit of havoc but not too much thank goodness.

Then this afternoon I'll knit (once I have caught up on the washing!).

Good luck with organising your stalls popeye. You could also have a garage sale and sell things that way.

Had a really lovely day yesterday managed to really surprise everyone the look on my sister's face was priceless! The weather wasn't too bad either fortunately.

Will be nice getting your laundry retiled Kiwimade.
People certainly can change a lot in 30 years can't they Kuaka, perhaps the daughter will use Skype more now if she can't actually visit.

Your idea of a market sounds good Popeye especially if you can get local home craft people like yourself on board and perhaps advertise it as being a bit different - wish I was a bit closer I'd take up a stall too.

Beautiful day out so will get going - have to do baking for Mainly Music, will make fudge cake as easy and the ladies seem to enjoy it. Then can get outside.

Didn't get much knitting done yesterday so hope to today.

Morning everyone.
A Much calmer day here and the sun is even out already lol.. Didn't see it till mid afternoon yesterday.

A garage sale is what started the thoughts of a hall sale Kiwimade. Our Garage is packed to the rafters, which is why MrP suggested putting the gazebo up out the front, then we both thought about the lions hall. I will ring this morning and see if there are any free dates before Christmas.

I feel washed out... zero energy, My iron is probably low, which is a problem since I cant take suppliments to increase it.. well I could under a drs watch, cos it will stuff up my warfarin.
Took a pill to sleep last night and feeling a little hung over from that lol

Ive finished the squares for my blanket. Now I have to figure out how I want to join and do borders on them. Thinking Ill join strips then go around them with the variegated and possibly white, Then once joined do the same. which will make it a good size

OCl has parked out our corner again. Doing the fibre cables Poor lawn mowing man will either have to delay doing the lawn or walk with the catcher

Morning ladies, well I had a busy day yesterday, stripped both beds and put clean sheets on, did most of the washing, still one load to do, planted my lettuce plants and put a new hose fitting on the hose reel as the other one had disintegrated. Had to enlist Mr Ks help with that, as the new one (well an old one actually) leaked, and I'd screwed it up so tight I couldn't get it off, and it needed the washers out of the broken one. So Mr K helped with that and then was exhausted. Normally he would do something like that without batting an eyelid.

Settled down after tea to do some knitting, and play around on the computer, and just before 11 - boof - power cut. Didn't come back on till 2. Apparently it was half of northland again, from Mangonui to south of Kawakawa and someone said Dargaville too. Quite a big area. Anyway I had an early night because of it and slept like a log.

Now to plan something exciting for today - not sure what yet.

Morning Everyone, Not a great start to the week here. Just returned from the vet. We had to put our male cat down He was 12 years old.Now under my large climbimg rose bush. His sister is looking all aroud for him. He gave up eating over the w/end.He was part of our family and will be missed.

Not sure what the rest of the day will bring. i will try and keep busy and finish off a couple of jobs inside and then go out into the gardening.

Taken his blanket out of my craft room and closed the door. He loved coming when I was working in there.Maybe later today I will pick something up and work on it.

oh sunflowers, that's awful. I know how you feel, we had to have our last two cats put to sleep, last one was only five and a half, and we'd had her just two years and she had kidney failure, one before that was 17 and really sick. We were heartbroken both times and vowed we'd never get another, but a month later another one stole our hearts. We adopted an adult cat. She's so loving and such good fun, I know we did the right thing 'cos we were both miserable without "little puss" and kept talking to her even though she wasn't there.

*huggss* sunflower... they do grieve, when we had our boy PTS due to kidney failure his sister searched all over for him. She even slept in places he used to sleep and she would normally never even go there. Was so sad watching her, just wish we could have explained it to her in some way.
Our animals certainly know how to steal hearts!

Morning everyone
Another beautiful day. No wind thus far.

I should go and weed the front garden but Ill leave it for a cooler evening .. I want to do a proper dust today.. not the bounce the duster over, but a pick up and dust everything one.
Once my back straightens out.

Ive joined my blanket squares, and doing some rounds around each row, no set plans Ill just do what I think looks ok to the first one then copy with the rest .
I cleaned a shelf in the kitchen yesterday, washing the glasses etc that get grotty cos its an open shelf, and re-arranged everything to get my new red scales on the shelf. Looks good.

morning ladies :) Am about to take my antihistamine (it works!!! omggg it works!!! lol) and head outside to mow the lawn. It's supposed to rain today and over the weekend so I'll get it done this morning. Won't take long to do now I can breathe properly!

We had our painter call in yesterday to quote for painting the bedrooms. I'll do the prep work and have him paint. I can paint, but very nervous about paint and new carpet, even with cloths down. Once we know prices, we can out money aside from our students. It's the last 'painting push' and then the whole house will be done, inside and out.

Hopefully I'll do some crafting this afternoon, fell asleep yesterday afternoon while knitting!

Have just about get all my clothes sorted for going away, strange having to think winter clothes while it is getting hotter here but it will be cold I've been assured. Also having to think Christmas presents which take up room and weight. Have wool and needles all sorted though hehe.

Morning ladies, I did a pile of ironing yesterday with the 2nd new iron which I bought a couple of weeks ago (to replace the one I bought about 3 weeks before that but is basically useless because it's only got a 2metre cord - I would have taken it back and changed it but I used the box to take the tui to the vet and didn't get it back).

Then yesterday afternoon I was at my usual "mah jong" afternoon, came home and found a sink full of :

but still in their shells, so I had to deal with them. Never done it before, but I've watched grumps do it heaps of times, so I managed. Half last night for tea, half tonight. Same friend who brought the crayfish dropped these in apparently just before I got home. Yum.

Knit and natter this morning, have a top down baby top I started a couple of days ago, so will probably take that. (not much thinking) and also a c2c blanket to do in case I go wrong with the increasing on the baby top.

Then when I get home I hope to do some gardening.

Lol Jayemtoo for me winter clothes is adding a cardy to the summer clothes. Very easy here. but then it doesn't get cold enough to worry.

My hives came back again last night. I wish I knew what was causing them. I was thinking it was the warfarin but it doesn't happen every night. And its not happening with anything in particular that Ive eaten. Having fish tonight so I think they will be back.
I did think last night tho and took photos on my camera so I can show my dr when I see her next. Cos its always about 2 hours after Ive eaten and had my pills at night.

Have two rounds to go on one row of the blanket and one more to do. Then I can start joining the rows and do a boarder, which I think will be 5 rows at this stage.

I think I will need a bit more than a cardy Popeye as checked on Google and says Venice gets highs of 7o in December! Hence need to take knitting in case we don't go out as much haha.
Niece says it gets rather wet underfoot as well so may need to buy gumboots once there.
At least all the tourists stay away so we will be seeing a rather different scene to when we were there last time.

Am knitting scarfs in the lovely light alpaca to use as Christmas presents hence saving on luggage as well!

Was humid overnight and no better this morning. I slept with the fan on last night. We were 23.9 in the lounge and 30.7 outside yesterday at about 3-30. I don't like summer lol.

Have joined all my rows, Its a bit long and skinny but Im hoping it will look better once Ive done some rows around it. A bit warm to do now. But I have a fan beside me.

Shopping this morning, then once we have put that away and had lunch I guess ill be back on the phone to the clinic Again.

Morning ladies, warm and humid here too. Going out for a coffee this morning with the friend who is the "joint organiser" of our usual Tuesday afternoon mah jong sessions. We decided to have a "meeting" to sort out the organisation of the Christmas lunch. Well I suggested it, so that we didn't spend all our knit and natter session discussing the Christmas lunch, and to get me out of the house for another hour or so, especially as I usually go shopping on a Thursday or Friday but not going this week as I don't think I could cram anything else in the pantry if I tried, and I've still got half a bag of tinned stuff that I haven't put away yet from two weeks ago.

The scallops were delicious, I think I prefer them to crayfish - mind you I had indigestion last night, and had to take some baking soda to settle it. So tonight it's back to basics, sausages or beef or lamb casserole.

I'd better get cracking.

Going to be hot here today too so will get into the garden before I start to melt.

Am having a go at drying rose petals in the microwave, it is a bit tedious but they look ok but don't seem to keep their smell.

Better keep going now so can blob out later in the day if I want to. Started one of the scarves but will have to pace myself or will use up all the wool then I won't have it when I really want it. haha

I used to be able to eat them no troubles, then one year I got massive hives from them. But they don't seem to bother me now.
We had fish for tea last night, which I thought was my trouble, but nothing last night. Weird lol.

Shopping is done and away, so I can sit and crochet after my play on here..

We are going out later to our local 100% electrical store for the VIP shopping night, they have drinkies and nibbles and really good deals. Im going to use the gift card I won and get a dvd writer, cos this lappy oddly doesn't a cd or dvd tray.

The house will be sooo hot when we come home. I will shut the curtains, but Im hoping it will be cloudy to keep the sun out

Hope you get the hives under control Popeye. I have only ever had one really decent lot of them and all my own fault. Sister made pickled onions using acetic acid and told me not to touch them for at least 3 weeks but of course I was impatient. A day off work and antihistamines cured them although I thought that as the antihistamines were working so well I might as well finish off the onions hehe!
Haven't used that recipe again and not too sure if waiting would have prevented them anyway.

I've just arrived home from my coffee with my co-organiser of the Christmas lunch and found my little lettuce plants nearly cooked - I've put the garden brolly up to shade them, and carefully watered around their bums so hopefully they will revive. Hope so as there's nowhere here to buy any more and I don't plan on going shopping till end of next week, and they were doing so well. Mr K is just sitting in the lounge (wearing his polar fleece waistcoat blissfully unaware that it's 25 degrees in town, probably 30 on the deck and in the veg garden)

Another hot day by the looks of it. Will get going before too hot, it is lively in the garden at the moment.

Morning ladies, it is warm but overcast and looks like we may get rain, showers at least (fingers crossed, then I won't have to water the garden).

Might try to alter a bedspread which I bought a few weeks ago at the op shop. It is in brand new condition, for a king size bed. On the way home I thought to myself "well that's not going to suit the king size bed - it will clash with the curtains, but it will be fine on the queen size one". Grrrr. So, I've looked at it, and there's a seam where it fits on one edge of the bed, so if I unpick that seam and just chop off a few inches and sew that piece back on, it should fit the queen bed perfectly. See how I get on today.

Might go and buy the wine for the Christmas lunch, and I have to think about what to take for a plate.

Have to search for some buttons today for a little top I've just finished, and also to use for eyes on a little owl I'm knitting. I realised when I went to sew that up that I'd done 14 rows of stocking stitch where I was supposed to do garter stitch, but I couldn't be bothered frogging it. It's in 4ply on 2mm needles. Pic when I've finished him.

morning ladies :) been outside this morning making the most of the cooler weather.
Omg men, lol, shirts in this heat? They are mad I tell ya!

MrK makes the best pickles onions, and waiting for them is just awful lol. But well worth the wait.

Our vegies need watering every day now, thank goodness for our own bore and pump. My new rose 'Frilly Gilly' went limp and I thought I was loosing her, luckily a trim back and lots of water and she is fine.

Would be interested to see how the rose petals work out jayemtoo, I belong to a rose FB group and one lady just dries hers on newspaper.

Bought a crochet pattern for a pair of fingerless gloves so might have a go at that this afternoon.

Morning everyone.

Another hot day here, its cloudy so that will help.

Had a lovely time at the shop last night. Saw people we don't see often and some we do. they had the most beautiful ham. And a rich frit cake that had coffee in it. I don't like coffee, but ate it. The taste was a background taste instead of full on.

Got the dvd writer so Ill start copying some cds later.

Crochet is there. I didn't do any yesterday.

Some of the dried rose petals. these are a small multicoloured rose and seem to turn out better than the big ones. The white ones I tried go a cream and the red go very dark - still ok but I like these best.
