So more meds for you as well? I'm glad to hear Paku is on the mend but worried about you.

Ill be ok. Cant kill a weed ha ha. I managed to make some Tomato Relish and Mango Chutney but apart from that I just pottered. No knitting though. I cant be still long enough to knit. It is easier for me and yes more meds sigh.

I'm thinking of you! I seem to have much more energy than last year thank goodness and on pain free days I get heaps done. My finger nails are back to normal as well which I'm really pleased about. I finished the dolls order plus another dolls dress over the weekend despite falling asleep in the heat yesterday afternoon. So frustrating - what a waste of time that was. LOL. I've nearly finished a pair of baby socks which I might do a few more of plus bootees this week. The programmes all start up again this week so I can get back to a normal routine although my diary looks pretty full this week.

grizzly4 - 2018-01-29 06:12:00
8304

That's so good that your energy levels are up. I went and had a pedicure and manicure to make myself feel better lol. Came home and dozed. The heat is really draining. I didn't do a thing except cut up veges for pickle tomorrow. I cant face the bookwork I need to have for Court on Friday. My car is squealing a bit so I have to get that checked before Friday. If its not one thing its another sigh.

makerealbany - 2018-01-29 22:11:00
8305

OMG look at the temperatures expected today and tomorrow!!! And no air conditioning here at home. LOL. I will be a puddle. LOL. Decided to start a wee fairisle jersey instead of more sox. It's in silver grey and white - quite effective.

grizzly4 - 2018-01-30 06:36:00
8306

Yes it sure is hot . I made some more Pickle today very early ha ha, SIL leaves tomorrow so the grind starts again, No results from tests yet but feeling brighter today. Got my paperwork done for Court case so feeling happy about that. Too hot to knit for me ha ha.

makerealbany - 2018-01-30 22:51:00
8307

Maybe too hot for knitting but you are getting everything else done! Good for you. I finished the back of the jersey last night. Daughter S and B9 coming with us for a swim tonight and staying for tea. Looking forward to it.

It's been cooler the last couple of days and very wet yesterday as it has been for most of the country, I think. We are having all sorts of dramas with getting fibre from the the street to the house and to change our landline from Spark to Vodafone. One reason being the landlord doesn't want the drive cut even though it will be re sealed. The damn thing needs to be completely redone anyway and it's not like he's had issues with us as tenants. Sigh. The phone companies say it is possible to go under the drive but they won't pay the extra cost and I. reckon he can do it himself. I think that could turn out to be a nightmare. I hope your trip is going well.

A bit sad yesterday as my quad bike sold and is going up to Hamilton to live on a lifestyle block. Son S came off his bike yesterday and has broken his collar bone!! Sort of made sense me giving mine up then. Shame it took that for me to have time with 2 of my grandsons!!! But beggars can't be choosers and I enjoyed every minute of it catching up with them. Jersey finished for shop this morning and then I'm working from home this afternoon, with tomorrow off, of course. I hope you are back safe and sound or maybe you are with family for tomorrow? And I certainly hope you are feeling better.

grizzly4 - 2018-02-05 06:09:00
8310

Well I am home again and feeling much better. My reds are going up and whites are coming done. I had a really nasty infection. Court Case took ten minutes and now its off to Facilitation. That will be fun Not ha ha.
We had so many issues to sort out in Rotorua it was so time consuming but now we are getting somewhere I hope. Not nice going back to see that things are being pulled down and other buildings starting to be erected without our permission and without Council Consent so we had to contact the Council to put a stop to it. More legal stuff to deal with sigh. Lousy weather it was as well.
How nice to see your grandsons. Glad you got rid of your Quad bike as well.
I brought fruit home so more jam and chutney to make. No knitting for days lol.

makerealbany - 2018-02-07 00:45:00
8311

Sounds like your trip was pretty full on. I'm glad your health is improving despite not getting much rest, by the sounds of it. LOL.

grizzly4 - 2018-02-07 06:12:00
8312

Rested all day today. Made some Nectarine Jam but that was it ha ha

makerealbany - 2018-02-07 23:38:00

Making jam misn't resting!! I've slept in this morning, lucky I have no meetings this morning.

Had to pick up some stuff I had bought for preserving and got given a knitting machine so I am donating it to S to do up for someone who can make use of it. I have decided I do not need something that big in my cottage lol. Its sitting in my car. Three boxes plus the main machine. She is delighted that machine whizz. I made some more beetroot relish when I got home and my little element I use to cook on stopped working so I finished it in the microwave, Worked well. So tomorrow Ill have to buy another element. I have a full weekend on with a trip up North on Sunday. Had 10 calls about the legal stuff so its full on ha ha.
Good for you sleeping in.

makerealbany - 2018-02-09 00:18:00
8315

I feel like you are running from the time you get up in the morning! You are an inspiration - me, I'd be dead on my feet by lunch time!!! LOL. I had to pull back all the knitting I did last night. Shouldn't knit when I'm tired.

grizzly4 - 2018-02-09 07:41:00
8316

No you should not knit when you are tired I learned that ha ha. Now that I have all these lovely preserves I have run out of space again sigh. I rearranged things today but still need more space. Only 6 calls today lol. I must say Court Processes are a bit of nightmare. You weave your way through and boom another tangle. Left hand does not know what the right hand is doing and all the advisors have different opinions sigh. Well I'm ignoring it all over the weekend as I am too busy.
Forgot to buy the element today so no preserving tonight . Good excuse. Ill just ignore the fruit on the table. Its pouring here . I hope your weather is nicer.

makerealbany - 2018-02-10 00:23:00
8317

Cloudy today with rain coming. No speedway tonight, I'm not getting rained on again. LOL. Have to find a good movie to watch instead and try not to eat too much chocolate. Or any at all would be even better. I'm knitting a crossover cardy and I've only done the back and one front so will need a miracle to finish it for Monday.

grizzly4 - 2018-02-10 09:04:00
8318

LOts of rain today- so no going out in the garden for me. I checked the courgettes last week and there were no more - yesterday there was a huge marrow. LOL. My garden is not producing very well this year although I'm starting to use the potatoes and carrots now. Cabbages very small although thats not bad with only the 2 of us to feed and very few flowers on the beans. Cooked up some rhubarb yesterday for a pie and filled the bowl with cherry tomatoes again. 2nd front of cardy done and working on sleeve.

grizzly4 - 2018-02-11 09:52:00
8319

Miracles do happen, I just have to put buttons on before I leave for shop this morning. Very impressed with myself considering we had visitors as well yesterday.LOL.

grizzly4 - 2018-02-12 06:14:00
8320

Ha you Miracle worker . You are a knitting machine. Well I had such a busy weekend. Took my friend that knitting machine on Saturday in the pouring rain but needed the boxes out of my car. Then I took my son his shopping and spent the day with him. It was still pouring when I arrived home late. Sunday I drove up to Kaikohe in the still pouring rain. Had a nice visit with my youngest son, visited a friend briefly in Whangarei on my way back to Orewa. Had tea at T's and then drove home. I changed my clothes three times that day. Threw a pile in the car before I left. Bulky raincoats and I do not go well together ha ha. There was a nasty accident on the way home. People continue to speed instead of driving to the conditions. Lots of flooding up north. Took me 4 hours driving to get home. I am surprised at all the changes and was so pleased to have no roadworks anywhere.
I have just finished Printing up a submission for court and a Meeting Notice which I had to print 10 copies off and will post those tomorrow. I've addressed the envelopes and searched online for the missing postcodes. Ill send emails tomorrow but these people are not into computers sigh.
Well that's it for me I'm off to bed .

Being retired sounds like really hard work!!!!The organisation I work for ios 30 years old this month and I have been there 27 years next month. Time flies, eh?

grizzly4 - 2018-02-13 06:38:00
8322

Going up on the Gondola this morning with the Women's Group. Not great with heights and not sure what the weather is going to do but hopefully it will be a good morning.

grizzly4 - 2018-02-14 06:25:00
8323

Being Retired is darn hard work ha ha and no wages. I'm so busy on helping A out as she worked three long days this week. After early morning starts and 12 hour days we are both a bit tired by the end of the day. Even though the children leave for school at 7.40 and arrive back at 4 there is so much to do. M had a bad rope burn on her knee from her School Camp which is just beginning to heal. It got rather infected. I have done all my submissions and paperwork I had to do so now I can just deal with things as they come. Secretary/ Treasurer is time consuming for Maori Land Trusts.
27 years aye. You are a Legend girl.
Still managing to make jams. Pickles and Preserves. Experimenting with different flavours. Gardens look like jungles after all the rain and my freezer is full so preserving is the only way to go. Everyone is the same . Cant let it go to waste ha ha. Took my car to get the brake pads done and they had it all day but the parts did not arrive so I brought it home and rebooked for next Thurday because A doe not need me then. Spent the day at T'
s as her arthritis is giving her hell. She still went off to work so I had a clean up for her. A is lucky because I live here but T has it hard when she is not well. I'm off to bed now as I'm really sleepy ha ha. I miss my afternoon Nana Naps. lol

makerealbany - 2018-02-16 00:21:00
8324

Sleepy? But it was only just after midnight!!!! LOL. I don't know how you do it. We are in bed at 9.30 during the week. LOL.At least I'm getting up early in the mornings again now which gives me moretime to do shop bookwork etc before going to work. Everything is up to date now except my garden.

grizzly4 - 2018-02-16 06:26:00
8325

Our gardens are so overgrown. . A was weed eating when I left this afternoon. The zuchinnis are getting too wet and they are rotting before they are ripe. Gherkins are ok but lettuces bolt rapidly. T has melons which are doing great as are her Eggplants and Peppers, It s weird we are getting tropical weather. Global Warming is having an effect on the weather.
I made some Apple sauce this morning and pickled more onions. The girls say if there is ever a time when we are cut off from food supplies we are all going to Mum's ha ha.
I keep running out of space. Wish I had a cellar. Should have got them to dig one with all those machines here ha ha.
I'm staying home tomorrow to catch up on gardening. K8 is here with me as T's knees were really bad after work today. How is your girl doing?
Well its bed again. Time just disappears sigh.

makerealbany - 2018-02-17 00:06:00

Daughter S is doing really well last time I talked to her. She is doing the 12 month Jenny Craig thing and all her food is supplied each week. She is doing well weight wise BUT she has also been pain and symptom free. The specialist is so impressed by the results of being predominantly dairy free that surgery this month has been cancelled. She has tried going dairy free on her own before but obviously not cutting out some foods that are still high in dairy. So some unexpected benefits!

grizzly4 - 2018-02-17 08:49:00
8327

That's good new about S. I have just finished pickling peppers after making Peach Jam, Going to bed now ha ha

makerealbany - 2018-02-18 01:08:00
8328

Look at the tim e you went to bed again! LOL. Mind you we were later last night, too, it was nearly midnight hence so late getting up this morning. Will be out in the garden during the hottest part of the day. Not good.

grizzly4 - 2018-02-18 11:06:00
8329

I stayed inside and cleaned all day. No preserving today. I had to reshuffle cupboards and there is not much room left for any more preserves ha ha.
I didn't get into the garden this evening. Just too hot. M10 helped me clean today. She's a great little helper and she love cleaning out my drawers. Always goes home with little things she smuggles into her bedroom ha ha. She told me she is trying to keep clutter down but 'Precious Heirlooms and jewellery are worth saving' She is so funny at times. I gave her one of Mum's Jewellery Boxes as I have enough. J23 is not into Knic Knacs yet and A 22 is a modernist so M is the only one of my granddaughters who loves and appreciates our treasures. She spends ages sorting through boxes and she knows where everything goes. 5am starts for next three mornings so I'm going to bed really early ha ha.

makerealbany - 2018-02-18 22:39:00
8330

We'll be up at the same time, then ! LOL. I'm really pleased with what we achieved in the garden this weekend. And I have a wee stash of bootees, socks and teddys to take into shop this morning. My diary isn't quite as full with meetings this week so will concentrate on funding applications, I think.

grizzly4 - 2018-02-19 06:14:00
8331

I'm quite sure I will not be doing any knitting until Thursday night. I am so busy with other things I cant concentrate at night to knit sigh. It was another scorcher today. Children were hot and grumpy after school. My daughter is buying the Bargain Box Meals which is so much easier for me to cook the children's tea as A is home late. I like the recipes. Easy to follow and yummy. Saves time for me and bonus the children love the meals. We had pork tonight. I'm gearing up in case Cyclone Gita hits us. You will most likely are as well. Climate change is certainly affecting the planet. . Darn Funding Applications are a major part of your work aren't they ugh. Its harder now. Less money and more stringent criteria as well as more competition.

makerealbany - 2018-02-19 22:29:00
8332

I found a job for a funding provider I would like to have applied for but how do you employ someone in my currenmt position when there's only a couple of months money in the bank unless funding comes through and they can't pay out my holiday pay? Looks like I'm there till a miracle happens or at least till after July the account looks healthier but other position won't be available by then. Sigh.

grizzly4 - 2018-02-20 06:37:00
8333

What a dilemma . So stressful for you. I hope you guys are ok down there . News coverage is awful. I got soaked to the skin picking up the children and going to gymnastics. .Lucky I keep extra clothes in the car . I had to get changed under a blanket. An hour later and the rain was gone. J7 and I spent two hours in Burger King eating and relaxing until M had finished her two hours training. I wasn't going to drive home because it would have taken me two hours to get there and back again. Traffic was awful as usual.

makerealbany - 2018-02-20 23:49:00
8334

I know there is flooding in the houses around the rivers like there always is but I didn't think the weather overnight was as bad as they expected here in CHristchurch. I was up at 1am and again at 3 and the wind wasn't bad and it wasn't raining. Here's hoping the damage elsewhere is less as well. I see the road up to Picton is closed either side of Kaikoura again but I hope the slips aren't too severe. Our next trip up to Blenheim is Easter all going well.

grizzly4 - 2018-02-21 06:42:00
8335

Kaikoura has been hit badly. Awful time for people living there. No effects up here. Glad you are ok in Christchurch.

makerealbany - 2018-02-22 00:15:00
8336

There is some pretty awful footage on Stuff this morning of the effects elsewhere. It's clear here today just a bit chillier to get up to this morning.

grizzly4 - 2018-02-22 07:25:00
8337

I just saw the photos of Kaikoura. Its dreadful and Taranaki with water out in places. We are so lucky up here. Its still as warm up here.

makerealbany - 2018-02-23 00:03:00
8338

Oh my gosh, what a day I had yesterday! I had a big argument with a training agency that has taken 4 months so far to register one of our staff and they rang yesterday to say they had lost all the paperwork!!! THen I had to give a run down of the history of the drive at work that is shared by Housing New Zealand. They say they own it completely and yet the house at the back of our hall is younger than our building. The plans they have are not the same as the ones I have seen in the past when WE sealed the driveway. There was yet another argument between 2 of the staff which resulted in one resigning which I accepted without hesitation surprising everyone LOL. This has been going on for over a year and I'm over it. Then I went to Supervision to vent about my day. LOL.

grizzly4 - 2018-02-23 07:29:00
8339

Thankgoodness it's the weekend. O Nly worked a half day yesterday and was looking forward to pottering in the garden but fell asleep instead. What a waste.. Housework to do this morning and I.'s car to take for a warrant as he is at work. We are off to watch the sidechair racing this afternoon.

grizzly4 - 2018-02-24 06:58:00
8340

All plans changed yesterday when I's car failed a warrant (Which took me 2 hours yesterday waiting in line!). He spent the afternoon fixing the brakes. I will have to help him bleed them today and do the groceries and try and finish the wee jacket I"m trying to get into the shop tomorrow. Used my new bread maker yesterday for the first time. I made a cheese loaf to go with our bolognese. Great fun. LOL.

grizzly4 - 2018-02-25 10:17:00
8341

Omg what an awful few days you have had. Paperwork in particular historical stuff is so important. Hope you get that driveway issue sorted. As for the staff grrr. My grandson and his future wife arrive today until Wednesday so they are staying in my cottage so I will be in the House sigh. Its easier because A leaves for work at 6 and the kids emerge and the noise starts ha ha. So I am cleaning and changing linen. I have fielded so many messages re hui next week I'm over that before it starts. Yes Breadmakers are fun. My kitchen table has two bags of apples, a bag of pears and a huge bag of NZ grown garlic that needs attention. No room in the freezers and too busy to do anything else today. Friends are so kind. Mind you Ive given out preserves, pickles and jams so maybe that's why ha ha. Kids are cooking a big Lunch today and thank heavens I don't have to do any of that ha ha. Managed to weed some gardens. Little E6 is here having a great time with her cousins. Tell I I got my brake pads done because mechanic said they were worn. I only went in because the car was making a grinding noise when I pulled out of the bend of the driveway. Hello its still making that noise and I am not pleased. $267 later and still the noise.

makerealbany - 2018-02-25 10:53:00
8342

LOL, I like the symbol you put on your last message. I haven't quite finished the jacket but if it's quiet in shop I might get it done this morning after the banking and dressing the windows. This afternoon will bring more staff stuff I think.

grizzly4 - 2018-02-26 06:17:00
8343

Jacket finished and in shop. Really liked the pattern so might do in another colour soon. For now I've started a 8ply cardy for 2 year old for a change. Just bought the pattern of TM. The weather is dodgy here this week so have had to cancel punting on the river tomorrow with the group. Going ten pin bowling instead. I'm having prtoblems with my upper arm lately and thinking it might be the knitting. NOt sure it will go bowling. LOL.

grizzly4 - 2018-02-27 06:20:00
8344

I. finished work early and took his car through for a warranty recheck. Passed this time. Phew. Then he went and picked up a new helmet that apparently I have bought for his birthday. Ha!

grizzly4 - 2018-02-27 06:22:00
8345

My grandson and C have gone to the Bruno Mars Concert tonight so I am in the cottage on my Laptop lol. They are going home tomorrow and I will be back here tomorrow night yippee. I do not like my daughter's new spare bed. My back does not like it either ha ha. Have had a nice time with my grandson and C. This is the one who lived in Christchurch for 3 years. He is so sensible and respectful. Actually he is the one who had it the hardest when he was a child. Yet he has turned out really well. He spent a couple of days with his mother who has mellowed with age and is now more grounded . He worries about his 8 year old brother but says he appears to be ok. K is 26 now and half way through his degree. C is so good for him. She is doing well and has a great job, K is doing an Education Degree with Japanese as a second language.
Wasn't that nice of you to buy I a helmet ha ha.

makerealbany - 2018-02-27 22:19:00
8346

Yeah, wasn't it? I'm good like that. LOL. His birthday isn't till 21/3 so I have put it away till then. Looks like I'm going to be brave enough to do all the online bookings tonight for the Wearable Arts in Wellington in September. I have wanted to go for ages so put it on my bucket list.Dauughter S and are going to the ballet 'Le Piano' in a few weeks, too. So looking forward to that.

grizzly4 - 2018-02-28 06:25:00
8347

Wearable Arts will be cool. The only Ballet I have ever been to was Swan Lake many years ago.
I'm back in my little corner of the world and loving it ha ha

makerealbany - 2018-02-28 23:15:00
8348

No place like home! LOL. Bookings all done including the Weta Workshop tour on the Sunday morning as we missed doing that on our trip 2 years ago. Have to knit heaps now to pay off credit card. LOL.

grizzly4 - 2018-03-01 06:27:00
8349

Do not mention Credit Cards ugh ha ha. I have a Land Hui in Rotorua on Saturday so I have just finished going through Papers to establish how long Mum paid the rates on certain land. Going back 50 years is hard.
I might stay at my sisters on Saturday night as I need a catch up ha ha.

makerealbany - 2018-03-01 23:09:00
8350

Good grief! 50 years. All the work better be worth it. My weekend will involve the end of month cheques for shop members, housework and speedway on Saturday night. LOL.
