morning ladies :) It's finally raining here, boy we need the rain as the garden was dust and so dry.

I'm off to the TAB to collect my winnings - I bet $10 on Pirate of Penzance to win. Lucky guess as I know nothing about racing, didn't know it was an outsider, just liked the name lol. A friend asked me if my bet was for a win or a place, you mean you can bet for a place? I only bet on the Melbourne Cup and then just pick a name that takes my fancy. The bonus is the horse was locally bred (yayyy for Matamata lol) and women trained and rode it. But the weird thing is I had this very strong feeling all day I should place that bet, even to the point where at 3.00pm I told MrK I was going to have a flutter, the look on his face was priceless. Dad tried to talk me into backing whoshotthebarman but Pirates just stayed with my gut feeling.

Anyhoo, will get the ironing done today (ick!!) and then work on this blanket a little more. Must admit I am over blankets and big projects. A friend is pregnant so I'll be able to knit baby stuff for a while :)

Very wet here and quite a bit cooler but yes we need the rain. Will have to use the garage for the washing tho'.

Onto last little dolls thing I'm going to make, tired of the Fiddly things and need some more 'no think' projects as have a good book on the go as well.

Morning ladies, I slept well till 2.30 then tossed and turned till almost 6am when even though I could/should have got up I finally dozed off and didn't wake till 8.30. Could have stayed there longer but remembered the window cleaner was due at 9am, he only ever seems to come when it is or is just about to rain!

Knit and natter this morning and I've arranged to take the chair covers with me to give to the old lady so she can take them home, that will save me a trip to her place if they fit, but if they don't fit I'll have to go back again. Just as well she doesn't live far away, I've been there 4 or 5 times already.

It's not raining at the moment, but it has been and looks like we're in for more, it's quite windy too. The garden could use the rain though, I'm sure my beans will appreciate it, I think they have all come up now except maybe half a dozen at most, so fingers crossed for some lovely green beans before too long.

Right, time to get cracking.

Wet windy and warm here.

IM still stoked that I won the $100 voucher in the colouring competition.. It will be our splash for Christmas. Will pick that up tomorrow but will save it till they have their fave customers shopping night. Its by invitation only and they have big discounts, drinks and nibbles and prize draws.

Have to cut MrPs hair this morning then sewing some cushions for my friend for one of her friends Christmas present.

Kuaka I too was awake from about the same time. I was sore and my brain wouldn't turn off lol.. Saw 6-50 and then got woken by a text at 8-15am.

Might part take in a nana nap later if I need it.

It's weird isn't it how sometimes we can sleep like a log and another time I hardly sleep at all, sometimes I can't get to sleep, sometimes I get to sleep but only briefly and can't get back to sleep. I have a friend who is the same. Don't hear of very many men having sleep problems, they just seem to switch off and snore the night away.

Hope you all had better nights.
What a wet day yesterday, ended up taking BiL into town to do some overdue messages. - he doesn't drive and sister works full time so it saves her having to rush around quite as much at the weekend. Then home and snuggled up inside for the afternoon finishing off the dolls clothes, putting soles on slippers and knitting another beanie so feel like I accomplished a few things while keeping warm and dry.

Need to go to library today and a bit of shopping. Still have quite a bit of the left over 4ply to use up so will plod on with beanies for a bit longer.

Morning everyone.
We both slept well. MrP doesn't normally sleep well due to his parkinsons. I was awake briefly but I think cos it was cooler I slept. and Missy slept on me again. I am creaky tho, from being in one spot too long. lol the pay back for a good sleep.

Finished the two cushions yesterday and knitting the smaller Bunny. Seldom MrP wants anything but he said he loves the cushions, so Im going to make some for us too. Ill take pics later.

Plenty of messages for us this morning too. starting with Bloods for MrP before his angiogram next week.

Pick up my voucher this morning.. Yay.

Afternoon ladies, slept like a log last night and didn't wake till 9am - must be catching up on all those sleepless nights, so it was a mad scramble to get fed and showered and off to Kerikeri before the supermarket sells out of fish which is my main reason for going there. If I just want groceries I can get them at our local Countdown - but going to Keri gets me out of the house for a bit longer which is good for me.

Had to go to the sewing shop for some thread, and whilst I was there I might as well have a look at the wool - don't need any of course (but when has that ever stopped us looking - and buying). Saw they had the wool I bought in winter at $11 reduced to $5.50 so I got two more balls, it's lovely and soft and lovely colours. Thinking about it on the way back to where I'd parked, thought I'd been overcharged $26 seemed a lot for two balls of wool and two reels of thread, then when I looked I realised one of the reels of Gutermann I'd bought was 500 metres ($11.90) so I hadn't been overcharged. It's a neutral colour so will last me ages.

Going to put my feet up for half an hour with a coffee and my hook and do some crochet.

I usually buy Gutermann but just hadn't realised I'd picked up the 500m reel, (sounds dopey I know) but sometimes you toss up between this one and that one, and then don't actually remember which one you decided on.

This afternoon I phoned the old lady I made the chair covers for, just to make sure that they were all okay and didn't need any alterations, and she said they are all fine, and she's really happy with them. So that's a relief. Phew! She also paid me just $10 short of three times what I had asked for, so obviously I'm not charging enough for my sewing. Also, when I said to her yesterday at knit and natter that I had them in the car and would go and get them, she said that the chap sitting with her would come over to the car and put them straight into his. He asked do I do sewing for people and promptly gave me 8 pairs of trousers to shorten. Nice little bit of pocket money, especially as they are all straightforward.

I bought some plants for the garden with my winnings as I lost a few thanks to the heavy frosts so will get them planted today. I see the Warehouse has a sale on sheets so will pop in and see what quality they are. I bought some single sheets there not long ago and they are lovely and wash up well. Will need to remember the brand name lol.

At some stage I'll do some crochet/knitting today but also need to get organised for a family reunion in Auckland tomorrow.

Glad the lady loved the chair covers Kuaka.. Do you use an domestic machine or have an industrial. I miss my industrial but had to sell it when we moved into the bus.

Hope they fix you soon Carole. I always dread waking up cos Im always in pain. I pop pills and can usually moved fairly freely in about an hour.

I finished the smaller bunny last night and I prefer him much better. And I hadn't realised I sewed the feet on the big one wrong. Oops.
But Ive decided Im going to make a girl one. Will put a skirt on her with a pocket, rather than pants and a patch. Will start that laster.

Have to go get potatoes which I forgot yesterday, cos I go to a different shop for them.
Then its time to pamper MrPs feet again lol

Morning ladies, well it took me a long time to get to sleep last night but I slept in till after 9 this morning. I suppose that's something. My friend who has trouble sleeping says she wakes at 6.30 regardless of how little sleep she gets, so I suppose that is worse.

popeye, I have 3 machines, a Brother industrial, a Bernina semi-industrial and an Elna domestic - I used the Elna which I prefer, and use for most of my sewing. The Bernina is very "cluttered" up with stuff so it's a mission to clear the table top on it to do anything, and the Brother is in the corner of the billiard room (it's been "promoted" - it was in the workshop till Paul's visit), but it's still in the wrong place to be able to use it. The Elna is well out of it's 25 year warranty as I bought it in about 1975. It is probably due for a service - might treat it to one soon.

I hope to finish the baby blanket today that I started just the other day - it's a "mile a minute" one and I ran out of yarn with only about 3 inches to go on the last centre strip, but then searched and found a wee bit of the same yarn in my peggy square bag, so now just have to do the edges of three of the strips and sew them together. I've already sewn six of them together. I intended it to be a charity blanket but might list it for a while and see if I can sell it and if not, it will be donated.

I'm up early too as we have a family reunion to go to today. It's mrK's mum's side of the family and there will family he hasn't seen for years. He's really looking forward to it (me, not so much lol). Have fresh batteries in the camera and MrK is making salads to take with us (yep, he took over that department, I think to make it more enjoyable for me :) ) and has the meat for the BBQ organised.

So no knitting for me today :)

Morning ladies, well yesterday I managed to do 5 pairs of the 8 pairs of trousers I have to shorten, but I also knocked the iron flying and smashed it, so I guess I'll be looking to buy another one. I bought one a couple of weeks ago because the one I use all the time upstairs to do the ironing is covered in gunk which I can't seem to shift, and when it gets hot it gets sticky, so I treated myself to a new one, but I'm not overly happy with it because the handle doesn't seem big enough for my little hands, and it's only got a 2 metre cord which I find a nuisance, the old one has a much longer cord. So I shall look more carefully when I buy the next one, and the one I bought the other day can go to the sewing room, where I only use it for pressing seams open etc rather than doing stacks of ironing.

Finished my mile a minute blanket last night and started a little jacket only to discover another strip of the blanket at the bottom of the bag, so will sew that on today, and then is really is finished.

Looks like being a lovely day today, bit cool this morning but hardly a breath of wind and hardly a cloud in the sky. Just watching a big old-style sailing ship coming down the harbour. Going to take a pic when it gets a bit closer.

Most unusual for here but it is foggy! Not used to it as We are well away from the foggy Waikato hehe.

The Ironmaori Triathalon was great - all shapes and sizes of participants and a very relaxed feeling - not competitive but really celebrating people's efforts and participation love it that at least some sport is around just to make people feel good about themselves and what they can do.
It was a 1km swim, 45km bike ride and 10km run. In the team event the bikes set off, then the swimmers and runners instead of having to wait for one to finish before another started which made it more compact time-wise. I almost did as much exercise with rushing between each one to see them off then welcoming them back again!

Off to a fun pet day run by the SPCA soon as BiL is having a stall there for his pet stuff and I've been roped in to help. Will slip a bit of knitting into my bag as could be some sitting around I think.

Beautiful day here pity it was spoilt by the fact that some little B****** broke into our car.
Didn't damage the car but took the clock, my cd's (all copies thank god) and my prescription sunglasses. Hope they get a good headache who ever wears them.
Have reported it to the police so will sort out an insurance claim. Later have to get past MrPs angiogram on Wednesday first.

Havent got too much left to do on the bunny.

Morning ladies, oh popeye, that is so annoying. Have had the house (in Hamilton years ago) burgled twice and the petrol syphoned from my car. That was very annoying as I was living in Auckland at the time and visiting Russell. Just happened to look at the fuel gauge as I was about to set off back to Auckland and noticed it was empty, so luckily was able to fill up before I left Russell, otherwise who knows how far I would have got before running out of gas miles from a service station.

Mr K is still in bed, I took him a cup of tea in over an hour ago and he was still alive then, so I suppose he is just tired. Looks like being another stunning day. Managed to finish the blanket yesterday and the little top and crocheted a beanie. Have enough yarn left to either do another top or two more beanies. Decisions, decisions. Might do beanies as they are so quick and easy. Then look for something else to do. Might start a c2c blanket with some yarn I ordered which I thought was off white but is lemon - not really my favourite for babies, but it will be okay for a charity blanket. It's lovely yarn (twinkle) I just don't like the colour.

Okay, time to do something useful.

I've just had my first outdoor shower of the summer - went to water the veg garden, and the hose came undone at the tap and the water went everywhere and of course I was drenched by the time I'd reached the tap, turned it off and reconnected the hose. Just as well it was a lovely hot afternoon.

Morning everyone.
Im glad yesterday is gone.. The whole episode left a horrible feeling with me all day.

Tis misty foggy here. Bu t that wont stop the lawn mowing man Im sure.

I love that twinkle yarn Kuaka.. I only have red and green tho. That's what I did my stockings in.
I have finished knitting the Bunny, so will endeavour to get that put together today.
I must ask my friend if she can show me how to do the c2c blanket. If she shows me Im sure Ill get it.

Not sure what Ill do next although I will be doing some hearts at some stage for valentines.

I really really want to put up Christmas decorations etc.. I know its way to early but I think it would lift us both. But that's going to be a mammoth job cos we will also be adjusting the tv cabinet and that's the biggest heaviest piece of furniture we have. but we are going to put wheels on the bottom and cut the hole in the back bigger for putting the wires through.
And I do feel pretty good physically... not too many aches today lol...

Ill let MrP watch one of his fave shows and ask him after lol

morning ladies :) Oh buggar popeye, it would be the loss of my glasses that would peeve me off the most. Little buggars, I hope they get caught but somehow suspect they won't be.

We went to the family reunion but omg, to get up the southern motorway was a nightmare. One accident, one truck breakdown so a tow truck was being hooked up to it and a snarl up further up from us caused a traffic meltdown and we were down to 5k's a hour for over an hour. So glad we only visit Auckland every now and then lol. To contrast it, coming home it took us 20 minutes on the motorway. I enjoyed the day more than MrK I think lol.

Lawns to mow and gardens to weed so I'll get into that today. I'm almost finished the C2C blanket, will be glad to have that on the bed all done and dusted.

What a nuisance Popeye - it's often not what actually taken but the inconvenience and feeling of being "invaded".
Know exactly Kiwimade about Auckland traffic as was exactly the same when went there last month and so tedious just stop/start for ages. Just so glad don't have to go there very often.

Glad I took my knitting yesterday as a lot of sitting around, as the Pet day was in a park it was very doggy orientated and we are more for cats but did get some interested people and BiL made some more contacts so not waste of time.

So tired after busy weekend was off to bed early and didn't even watch Call the Midwife which I will do later on demand.

morning ladies :) Am going to head outside into the garden, weeding, weeding and more weeding! Must be spring lol. We're eating our broad beans and the peas are almost ready for picking. Nothing like picking your own vegies fresh and spray free from the garden.

Couldn't crochet last night as the Furry One decided a good place to sleep was on top of the blanket I was trying to finish. He just looked so comfy didn't have the heart to move him. Maybe I can get it done this afternoon/evening.

Yes weeds certainly seem to like this time of year. Finished my broadbeans a couple of weeks ago, not a very good crop as got neglected and then the wind knocked them about but what there was were lovely.

Usual Tuesday I guess - Mainly Music,finishing off odd jobs and aquarobics this evening.
Can usually fit in a bit of knitting as well. Once I have set up at Mainly Music there is about ½ hour of waiting around so I put in a bit of something to do. have been doing a crochet beanie but it seemed to last too many weeks as I only did it then so have got a small vest to knit instead as i know I will do that at home as well.

A beautiful day out there.

Feeling a bit brighter than yesterday.. I ended up having a warfarin collide yesterday so slept most of the morning.

Didn't do any sewing up etc.. just a bit spaced out I guess you could say.

Will check MrP's hospital bag today and make sure everything is in it. even if it goes for a ride.

Might watch some youtube today and see if I can get a c2c blanket underway

Morning ladies, popeye there's a really good tutorial on the c2c blanket on ravelry, haven't looked on youtube but there's bound to be one there too. Once you've done the first few trebles and have got into the habit of "flipping" the work rather than turning it, you'll be fine.

Overcast here today and a bit cooler than yesterday. No plans much for the day except I have to pop to town to post a parcel and then I'm out this afternoon at my usual mah jong afternoon. Will try to get the last pair of trousers shortened before I go out.

Popeye, don't know how to link it, but if you go onto ravelry and search for c2c and then select the Lauri Bolland one, that's the one I used. There's probably others which explain it just as well, but I found this one easy to follow. Good luck. You can do it.

morning ladies :) I used a You Tube tutorial, it's a simple pattern and easy to get into.

I'll be back outside today, the weather is overcast and I want to get more done in the garden. Have some plants to plant so hopefully I can get them into the ground before it rains. Will save me watering them in. I dug out more agapanthus, one more huge clump to go and a couple of smaller ones. Omgg it was hot work lol but it's almost done now.

My washing machine died while it was filling with water so I ended up buying a new one. Had to empty the water by hand using a beer handle lol. It was 10 years old and the bearings were stuffed. At least I won't have to listen to it sounding like a jet engine taking off when it spins. The retailer beat me home from town so by the time I got home, the machine was in and ready to work and my old machine taken away. Pretty good service I think.

Will get some crochet done this afternoon, will see how I go.

Some miserable (&&*%*%&^ tagged our car last night. Can narrow it down to be happening between 9-50 and 10-50pm. But Yay being married to an ex carpainter and cos it was on the windows, its already off. Had some letters and a jolly good set of male Tackle.

Someones obviously has a problem, goodness knows why.

We have both had about 3 hours sleep.

Im taking crochet with me.. I don't really feel like dragging myself around shops. Will go to Davids Emporium tho and have a good look since MrP wont be there to get too tired.

Morning ladies, popeye you must feel as though you've been singled out for "special treatment" re the car. What a pain in the bum.

I have been struggling to knit a "milo". I cast on Sunday evening, did a few rows, then when I came to cast off to form the shoulder straps realised something was wrong as I had the long bits and short bits reversed, so frogged it and cast on again on Monday. Decided to do a bigger size as I have plenty of wool. Read the pattern again and found I'd started the previous one with a purl round and should have been knit, so I thought "right, this will be easy now" - WRONG. Last night I frogged and tinked more times than I care to admit before I found if you actually read the pattern AND follow it, it works. I wouldn't mind but I have knitted this pattern before and had no problems except that I struggled to do it on a 40cm circular because there's not many stitches to start with. Easier on dpns. Rant over.

Knit and natter this morning and I am now up to easy knitting on the milo so will take that rather than start something else.

Dietician is coming this afternoon to see Mr K again, she won't be happy with him as she wanted him to see the doc and he refused, sometimes I think he's past caring whether he gets better or not. Yesterday when I asked him how he was feeling he said "I'm dying". Better see if my old black suit still fits me. I might need it soon.

Washing done, house dusted and vacuumed so feeling pleased with self, now coffee then out for a while.

How annoying Kuaka re your milo - yes it pays to read the pattern, i have used this pattern so much now almost know it by heart but still check it out when starting a new one. I like to do variations on the top so not all garter stitch to make it look a bit not quite as bulky on the smaller sizes.
Doing a fish and chips singlet at the moment but on circulars up to the arm holes as using up scraps and that way I get back and from the same.

Well we are home again.

They rang when we were half way there. They cancelled cos they reckon if they put dye into him it would kill his kidneys and he would end up on dyalisis... I nearly ignored the phone.

Needless to say we are not impressed. MrP is grumpy about it. Im just annoyed and Ive pretty much figured they wont do his heart either now. Cos they will say they cant do it without knowing what his arteries are like.
Time will tell.

Good news they have caught the tagger.. The little chit had been getting in trouble in Kaitaia so his mum brought him down here to her partners pplace, He lives over the back from us sort of. A block with four squares in it, he was in the back right corner, tagged the truck in back left corner, ours on bottom left corner and fence. bottom right corner and the one next to that too.

The cop said his mother was throwing his gear into the car as we spoke, to take him home. So we are guessing hes not old enough to be charged.
By god if we had done that our parents wouldn't have marched us by the ear to apologise. And we would have had to paint the fences.

So we will no doubt have a nana nap this afternoon.

morning ladies :) dammm popeye, what is it about your car? Or should I say about that kid? I do feel sorry for him though as there seems to be no clear leadership in his family and no boundaries. Just move the problem along by packing him off to stay elsewhere. And our parents would have done the same but we wouldn't have dared to even think about doing that!

Back out in the garden for a bit this morning, didn't quite finish weeding as it got so hot. We finally had some rain last night so things have cooled down and hopefully the soil isn't dust!

Will get some more crochet done, need to do around about 30 rows and it's all done, thank goodness.

Agree Kiwimade often things like this are a call for attention from parents. He hasn't really faced up to the consequences of his actions.
I remember brother, as a small boy being marched down to local dairy because he had taken something worth a few pence. He had to apologise and return it he never did it again and the rest of us were also shaking thinking he was on his way to jail! We all learnt a lesson and no way do
similar.

Just about finished another fish and chips singlet.
Want to go to Skeinz later to get wool suitable to knit on a plane - need to do something light and completely mindless, think will be a scarf as will be heading into the northern winter and I know Skeinz have some lovely soft light DK wool,

Morning ladies, I agree re the culprit of the tagging, no discipline at home (possibly no father at home??) I recall being on the receiving end of a 14 year old grandson who was getting out of hand at home, the mother (not my daughter) couldn't ship him over to us quickly enough - first thing he did was go out to "play" and not come home for hours. We thought he'd hitched a ride on the ferry and gone back to Auckland. Stayed with us for 3 months and nearly ate us out of house and home, but he did settle down with his grandfather there to lay the law down and set some rules and boundaries and there were consequences if the rules were ignored. He went back to his mother for Christmas Day then went to see his father for boxing day (he'd never seen him since he was a toddler as the mother wouldn't allow it - and Mr K had reunited them) and he never went home, stayed with the father.

I frogged 22 rounds but used a long thin circular to put in a lifeline so I didn't have to pick up all those stitches, made it easier.

Now I have to decide whether to attempt the same cable pattern again or use a different one. I don't like being beaten.

Pity about Mr P popeye - I suppose as you were only halfway there when they phoned, that you didn't get to the emporium.

I'm off shopping today, I won't venture out tomorrow (Friday 13th) and yes, I'm superstitious - very superstitious about Friday 13th.
