Morning ladies, busy day yesterday, clean sheets on the bed, washing, gave the stove top a really good clean, swept all the petals off the deck, replaced a board on one of the garden steps which had come off, looked at the weeds but decided I'd done enough so sat in the sun and knitted. Made another mobious cowl, I'm loving these, and it's so cool seeing the way they turn out with this multicoloured yarn - I like the ones which aren't quite "gradients" but have quite long stretches between the colour changes. The yarn I used yesterday is in 100gm balls and I only used half so I can get a second one which will be interesting as the second part of the ball looks to be different colours from the first.

Have to take the Safari in tomorrow at 11am to get a WOF (well hopefully to get one), might give it a clean this afternoon, it's looking decidedly dirty and forlorn. It's a shit of a job though, and quite tiring as it's so big (and high). That will be about all I will do today I think - apart from knit. Might start the second mobious.

Have a super day everyone.

PS, popeye, did you check out the pattern that I suggested?

morning ladies :) Sorry knit1, I don't have that colour :(

Our girls arrived yesterday and they are delightful, a real credit to their parents. The Furry One is in doggy seventh heaven as they adore him and play with him until he is tuckered out lol. He is now waiting for them outside their bedroom door. Today we're off to a animal zoo/farm not far from here, it's hands on as they have a petting area with rabbits, guinea pigs, lambs and so on. The girls are from Tokyo and their idea of a pet is a hamster :( so they are pretty excited about today. Will get them onto the farm to watch the cows being milked this afternoon and a BBQ for dinner. We have some venison steaks from a deer our son-in-law caught so we'll have that with salad. I suspect I won't be knitting much today :)

happy knitting :)

Morning everyone
Grey here, we had some very heavy rain yesterday. And it was very windy. Doesn't look quite so windy today.

The girls will have heaps of fun Im sure Kiwimade.

I dug out my 4ply too knit1. I haven't used it in a long time.

The shawl is growing, Ive done 42 rows so far. Ill have a measure up when I get to 50, but think Ill end up doing closer to 75. Im enjoying it

Off to see the wool man today. Not getting too much.

Have a fab day all

Took me ages to actually find a patter I liked, didn't realise how expensive they were now to buy, guilty of having a huge 60ltr container of patterns
as many years ago I knitted for a local wool shop, I've put them in clear lite folders in plys and catagories as well, even tho I need to put some away I know most of what I have so thats a bonus, if anyone is after something in particular let me know. Nearly fainted a book cost 23.00

Morning
Lovely day again, just home from Mainly Music, good crowd of little ones and their carers, now getting a few Grandfathers coming on a regular basis and they seem to enjoy joining in.
Kiwimade sounds like Your student have a great time and get their money worth, must be rewarding seeing them appreciate things which we are so used to.
Sorry don't seem to have that wool knit1.
Finished a beanie yesterday and started another top, so using full balls of wool on a garment and then what's left goes on the blanket.
Have an appointment in town this pm so good enough excuse not to get dirty in the garden and relax with the needles instead.

morning ladies :) We had a fun day yesterday even if the zoo/farm was closed so went to the beach instead and walked around the base of Mt Maunganui. Then into the cowshed to watch the cows being milked. One of the students asked me if all the cows were girls... was soooo hard to keep a straight face! We try to take them places jayemtoo and it's fun to see things through 'their eyes'. We are just so lucky to live in NZ!

Have just woken them, they have an early start today so better get some toast started shortly.

Happy knitting :)

Morning Ladies. Well it A & P Show time here in Hawkes Bay. It a 3 day event. Today is mainly for schools,so it full on for me today. It great to see the look on the kid's faces when they see the animals close up.

Kiwimade just had to smile about the questions the oversea students ask.We had overseas students stay with us. Living on edge of a busy town we had what known today as lifesyle block so the visiting students got to hand feed the lambs, hens, cats, dogs etc. They liked to take heaps of pictures of everything. Dear say your students are taking heaps pictures as well.

No knitting for me today. Hopefully some knitting this evening.Have a great day everyone.

Morning everyone.
Its getting quite dark here so rain isn't far away.

Ive been up and done my bloods so that's out of the way. Don't have to go out again. So it can rain as much as it likes.

Ive done 53 rows on my shawl / blanket. Measured it last night and I think I need to do 75 to get it to the rectangle I want. Then Ill do a border on it. Im enjoying crochet again after such a long time when I couldn't do it.

Stay dry everyone and have a fab dy

Afternoon ladies, I'm feeling rather pleased with myself at the moment, as I rowed out to the boat after lunch (it's quite a long way), checked the bilge, ran the motor, and then rowed all the way back. Now I'm going to sit and relax with a cuppa and do a few rows of knitting before I cook tea.

Hope everyone has had a good day.

Well I'm feeling quite proud that I am able to do it (although wishing that I didn't have to - which would mean that Mr K was still able to do the honours) but at the end of the day, someone has to do it. He did thank me for doing it, but sitting around all day while I've been busy has taken it's toll on him, and he's gone to bed without having tea, says he will have it later - which I very much doubt. What is it they say "old age is no place for sissies" - I think he has very much thrown in the towel.

Now I will seriously put my feet up, and probably wake up sometime around midnight with a stiff neck.

Morning
A bit overcast at the moment so not as warm but this should suit those going to the show a bit more.

Great effort Kuaka, poor MrK can imagine it must be so frustrating not being able to do what was no problem not so long ago - yes old age not all fun for some people.

Have a good day everyone

Morning everyone.
Blowing a gale here again. Not cold tho, I threw the blankets off again last night.
I know what you mean about them throwing the towel in. MrP has done the same. Its just too much effort to bother to try and do anything. Sad really.

Shopping this morning, and in this wind the front door will be shut. And if you have to walk around the corner of the building you just about get bowled over.

Ill have to lay the shawl out later, Im getting low on wool and don't intend on "Hoping" it will reach lol. I know theres a term for it now, but I cant think of it lol.

Have a fab day everyone

Morning ladies. I sure slept well last night after my efforts.

You are playing "yardage chicken" popeye whilst I am busy "tinking", at least I was last night. I'm knitting another mobius cowl, and discovered that I had done 7 rounds of knit instead of 6 so I am laboriously undoing one knit stitch and redoing it as a purl stitch, as I'm working my way round the 240 stitches which I have on the needle. Grrrr! Pays not to knit when you're tired.

Shopping for me today too, so better get my a into g. Weather is very "ordinary" here, overcast, temp not too bad, not much wind - yet.

Have a super day everyone.

My back is a mess.. I thought Id cope without a pill today.. WRONG .. lol... another 30 mins it should be better tho.

The St John alarm people are coming this afternoon to give the alarm a warrant check.

Today is catch up day with housework as our next batch of students for a while arrives Tuesday and I want to spend the weekend in the garden.

I hate running out of wool, funny though lol, if I think I am running out I knit quicker! Hopefully I can knit this evening or afternoon.

Morning
We have a holiday today although it doesn't make much difference for those who don't go to work anyway!
Will do a bit of housework then into the garden before picking up the needles. Agree most frustrating to run out of wool and tend to over estimate a bit as I can always use any left overs on things which use smaller bits. My memory blanket is growing nicely but almost out of scraps for that so will have to get wool for a bigger project again soon - yay visit it Skeinz coming up hehe.

Have a lovely day all

Morning everyone
Bit of a mixed day out there. A warm night

Feeling rather flat today, could be cos it was warm overnight.

Ill cheer myself up later tho and go and play in the craft room for a while and tidy it up.

Ive decided my shawl is larger enough to do the edging now. Thank goodness its crochet and not knitted lol.. no casting off yay lol So ill look at that later.

Going to nip up the fruit shop and see if I can find some edible bananas, the ones in the supermarket yesterday were green. The weather really is mucking up the bananas this year.

Morning everyone

Another very warm night and raining. They did well to postpone the town fireworks night from tonight till tomorrow. There is a market and entertainment too.

I put the fan on at about 5am this morning, the air was too warm to breath. And the rain is coming from all directions so no open windows as yet.

Ive started doing double crochets around the shawl. I was hoping not to but I need it even to do the shells.

Tidied all my wool yesterday, found some Id forgotten I have, but I know it came from the warehouse. And Im thinking it was December last year when MrP was having his angiogram lol.

Also counted 10 plus tops in the wardrobe in there, brand new, I stopped counting at 10 lol. So will bring a couple out to wear as good clothes and retire a couple of older good tops to house tops . Need to make a couple of new skirts when the sewing bug grabs me.

Have a fab day all...

Morning
Wet here too which I am not complaining about - nice soft rain and no hurry to get going this am.

BiL has a new machine which pulverises paper for the pet litter, we had a play with it yesterday, it is a rather noisy beast so hope the neighbours don't mind but it is quick so will only be running for about ½ hour at a time and only once or twice a week. Going over this am to make more litter, the sales are gradually building up so hope it doesn't get too big too quickly as at the moment it is more a hobby so enjoyable with no pressures.

Had a happy knitting session last evening and this am had coffee, good book and knitting in bed while it rained outside - my idea of heaven hehe.

Have a good day

Afternoon ladies, late start to the morning here, and what started off as fine misty bleh is now proper drizzle! Supposed to rain later.

I spent some time yesterday trying to make a pouch/wallet type thing for my interchangeable needles, and wasn't all that happy with the "zipped pocket" which would be used for the end caps and keys, so this morning I've pulled it off and redone it. What a flipping job. It's still not perfect but better than yesterday's attempt. I haven't decided yet whether it needs some sort of button closure to keep it together when it's folded over. I'll use it for a while and see what I think. There is one other feature I'd like to add but haven't figured out yet exactly how to. Again, I'll use it for a while and then decide.

https://trademe.tmcdn.co.nz/photoserver/full/420808295.jpg

I suppose I really should make a start on the chair covers I need to do. I looked at the fabric yesterday (two pairs of new curtains) and it said to leave them to air for 24 hours before ironing and hanging, and as they need ironing before I can cut the covers out, I've left them. One pair can go back as they are full of "pulls" and big streaks where the threads have pulled and stuffed the pattern up. I certainly wouldn't be hanging them if I'd bought them to use as curtains.

Right, better go and have some lunch, then I might bake some banana muffins this afternoon as I have some over-ripe bananas and will have the oven on cooking a small piece of lamb.

Enjoy your day everyone.

morning ladies :) Was up at 3.30am, made a cuppa and some toast, settled on the couch under a blanket, heat pump turned up and watched the rugby. The Furry One joined me part way into the game, he was so confused as to why I was up and MrK joined me not long after (must have been me yelling at the screen that woke him lol).

Have lawns to mow and garden to weed this morning as it looks like the weather is clearing. Should be able to knit this evening but I suspect it will be an early night for me.

Kuaka, I like the needle pouch you made, a really good idea to keep everything together.

I still don't know what the score was and who won lol. As I have family history with SA I don't mind who won.

Have been doing a border on my shawl / blanket. Liking it so far.

Oh one of the shops here has got all their Christmas stuff in. The window display is beautiful. I have to pick something up from there on Tuesday for a friend so will have a look then,, white and red is "In" by the looks.

Sunny here now, so the big fireworks show will go on tonight. Thankfully it only takes 20 mins so not too long.

I need to get the weedkiller out too popeye, I weed by hand most of the garden but where we park the car and along the house and path I spray. If I had to weed all of it by hand it would take forever!

Morning
Another lovely day with a little breeze.

I like the weedkiller too for the driveway and oxalis, I tend to paint it on with an old paintbrush so can use it in between plants.

Found a bag of ends of sock wool which I had put aside to crochet things with but so don't like crocheting at the moment I have decided to knit baby beanies with it instead and get rid of it. Made 2 ½ beanies yesterday so looks like that will be my knitting for this week.

First though have to do some baking for Mainly Music tomorrow think I will make apple cakes this time. Not keen on baking so tend to use a few trusted recipes which are quick and pretty well guaranteed to turn out ok.

Good Morning Ladies. Sun out,not as hot as it was yesterday. Was going to weed kill the driveway and a couple of other small areas this morning, leaving it till tomorrow when the kids are not around. My little one is off school this week, has gone to Starship for checkup. Off Tues and Wed,but to work Thurday Friday.
We have two very large old orange trees and with the wind lately have picked up a couple of large bags of oranges, . Lovely and sweets. Alot get given away. Spend time looking to see how to use them in my baking this morning so off now to bake.
Knitting been slow as my shoulder and fingers are playing up. If I get 8-10 rows a day in I am doing well. At.present doing a corner to corner small blanket.
Enjoy your day everyone.

Afternoon ladies, still windy up here, and not so warm, was only 14 deg in the lounge when I got up at 9 this morning. Decided I had better do a "fitting" of one chair cover rather than make all six and find they weren't right. I thought I'd made them plenty big enough and would have to take them in, but no, the seat isn't quite big enough, so just as well I decided to fit first. Will sew the first one up this afternoon and give it to the lady on Wednesday and she can let me know if there's any further adjustments needed.

Decided I would "block" the summer shawl yesterday. What a performance. Wind kept blowing it off the outside table where I had spread it to dry. Eventually put it down on the floor of the deck fully expecting puss would pounce on it but she didn't. It certainly looks better now, so today I've blocked the other one (the one I don't like), might decide I like it better once it's dry.

Time to make a coffee and do some sewing, hope everyone is enjoying the long weekend.

Morning everyone,
Another windy day here but fine. The lawn mowing man turned up at 7-30am.. but we had anticipated that.

Ive finished my shawl and it needs blocking. But Ive never done that before. And I wonder if its really worth doing, since it will end up wrapped around a baby. The only flat place big enough is the breakfast bar. At present its hung over a bar on the clothing rack. I wonder if I just wet the border and leav it hanging there that it will help pull it into shape?

We are getting very frustrated with our Town manager. We still don't know how much the stall will be. If its too expensive we will be pulling out and my friend will go to Pokeno markets on a Sunday.
BUt I cant leave MrP that long and be so far away.

So Ill end up having my "stall" on here lol.
