Time for a cuppa and watching last weeks episode of 'Winter' - mrK loves we can hook the laptop up to the telly lol. Just have to convince him he needs to use the wireless headphones so the volume doesn't need to be up so loud!

Ive done everything I needed to do this morning. So after Ive had a play on here Ill start sewing the santas..

I wont knit till they are done, and I need to do a little more sewing before I knit again. Cant tell you what it is cos its a pressie. But once Christmas is done Ill be able to show everyone lol.

Missy is not happy with her Mummy.. one of her toys went up the vacuum lol... so Ill fish it out when I empty it before I vac again lol.. The hallway is like a toy cemetery down there.. lol we kick them to the sides, but she seems to like using the hall to play in lol.

Just back from a good but busy trip to Wellington, went yesterday am. Nieces little girl had her 2nd birthday although the actual day was a couple of weeks ago but her cousins are visiting from Queenstown. Went down to catch up with this family.
Brought 4 yr old great nephew back to stay with his grandmother for a couple of nights, I'll take him back to the Hutt on Tuesday pm.
Managed a little knitting yesterday.

Now into a nice hot shower and earlyish night

Morning everyone.
Bit of a mixed bag out there this morning.

Im baking this morning. Taking morning tea up to the shop where I got my laptop from. Since they swapped my new one for a almost double the price new one again.
Thought Id make a fruit loaf, banana cake and some cheese cakes.

I got the Santas to almost finished. Have to do their faces. Make small pom poms for their hats then put them on and glue a buckle on the front.

So that's my agenda today. Ill be pleased to get that done and then I can do a wee bit of sewing. And will start a lemon premmie set for the evenings.

Afternoon ladies, tinybaldone, thank you so much for the lovely yarn which arrived today, now I will be able to make a start on repairing my gran's blanket.

Still plodding on with the little shawl that I started, the one which is the same as the pretty summer shawl I made for myself, but I'm not liking this one at all, don't like the colours and the wool keeps splitting so I find a mistake which I can't correct and have to tink a row or two and with 2 or 3 hundred stitches on this isn't much fun!

Mowed the little lawn on Saturday (only did it on Wednesday) today I've planted marigolds and lettuce - out tomorrow afternoon. Weather can't decide what to do it seems, brief shower this morning, has been overcast all day but not really cold.

Now to settle down with a cuppa and watch the Chase and then cook an easy tea (bacon and egg pie which I made yesterday, there's enough left for today so just reheat it). I'm all for easy these days.

IM all for easy too Kuaka.

I was beside my oven for four hours this morning.. That was after I did a mad dash to get baking powder.. lol.. Made two fruit loaves, a banana cake, cheese cakes and 49 choc chip peanut brownies. As well as a meatloaf for mrP's dinner, spaghetti bread cases for his lunch and scones for mine.

Have finished the santas. yay. So tomorrow I will start some more secret sewing. Ill start the lemon premmie set tonight tho.

Have to admit Im shattered and my back isn't responding to pain meds, so I might take a sleeping pill tonight/ well muscle relaxant. And at least ill sleep.

Been good to be busy tho lol.

What a marathon effort Popeye, I only bake when I really have to.

No knitting yesterday as looked after 4 yr old boy, he was so good but kept me going and just couldn't be bothered doing much in the evening. Just settled into bed with my book and there was a good sized earthquake which rocked me well awake!
Taking the little fellow back to the Hutt today and then I hope that is all the travelling for me at least for a couple of weeks.

I'm destashing some of my fabric this morning for a lady on our FB page, I'm getting quite good at being ruthless with destashing now.

I need a still calm morning to spray some weeds and some cleaning stuff on the house to keep the paint clean. Don't think that will happen today somehow.

That was a huge effort popeye, I try and bake once a week and managed to use up some soft bananas yesterday to make a banana cake. I was roasting vegies for tea so it all when into the oven together.

Ive plated everything up to take up the road in an hour or so.

Yeah it was a long time for me to be on my feet..

I didn't knit or anything last night,. was just too tired. I read and turned the light off at 9-30 pm lol.

Ill get the fabric cut and stiffened later today. For my secret project lol..

I love being able to have multiple items in the oven at once. Im a person who endeavours to save power at all times.

morning ladies :) I hung my washing on the clothes airer, carole, even though the heat pump was off. We had enough sun for most of it to dry during the day and then we turned the heatpump on in the evening for a bit and the rest finished drying. I should have left it outside lol as with all the wind it would have dried outside. So today, it's being hung outside.

I got round another corner of my 10 stitch blanket knitted last night, just plodding away. I'm going to be babysitting our grandy next week so might check out the new wool shop in Taupo while I am close by.

I don't have a drier either My clothes go n the garage and surprising how they dry in there even in winter, then just need airing off inside.

Took great nephew back to parents yesterday, they are staying in Upper Hutt so just on 4 hours to get there with a couple of short comfort stops. He is such a good traveller and slept for quite a bit. Coming home again it rained most of the way but not much traffic so not too bad. I hope won't be going far for a bit now have had enough driving lately. So another day and didn't even pick up the knitting.

But am almost tempted to do a day trip,to Taupo and check out the new wool shop - it's only 2 hours driving to get there. Can't be this week perhaps next!

It's a wet looking day just ideal for ignoring the pile of outside jobs which need doing and do a bit of knitting.

Morning everyone.
A damp looking day out there.
I use a clothes airer in the garage for the heavy clothes. I put the light in the dryer, so they dry faster and the others get the heat from the dryer. Two loads in one lol.

Im thinking about going through my wardrobe. Theres quite a lot of clothes I never wore through winter. So might as well give them to the oppy.

I need to take some photos too of stuff to list.

MrP is still in bed so ill stay quiet out here for a while tho.

Plodding on my knitting.. lol

Not feeling so tired now so that's gotta be a plus . Must have over done it on Monday.

Morning ladies, it was a stunning day yesterday but today is partly cloudy and blowing a gale. Have the gardener coming for a couple of hours this afternoon - he will probably do weeding and anything that needs pruning. He could spend a week in our jungle and still not finish. I'll do some as the weather improves but before it gets too hot.

Went to knit and natter yesterday, took my summer shawl along to show them and the one I'm doing in the same pattern but different yarn (which I don't like) and they agreed, the blue/pink/green one is lovely but the second one is drab. One lady said "it's a pretty pattern, but that's not pretty wool". Summed it up quite nicely.

Have just done another little sleeveless top, the same as the one I donated to red cross for their stall along with a blanket and beanie. I was gutted to see the blankets on the stall marked at $15 and the lady who priced them asked "is that too much?" I said "no, it's not enough, it cost me that much just for the yarn". Don't think I'll bother again. I didn't see how much she'd put on the bigger blanket with top and beanie to match as that had already sold. I wouldn't have minded so much but there was a cruise ship in so probably some rich old tart from the cruise ship picked up some bargains. I'd rather give it to someone needy than sell it at bargain basement prices to someone who can afford to pay more. Rant over!

Going out to see an old lady this morning as she wants covers made for some dining room chairs. Said I'd see if I can do them for her. Not sure exactly how she wants them done.

Better get cracking. Mr K is still in bed. He says the side of his face is numb - hope it's not signs of another stroke.

Oh that would annoy me too Kuaka. when I did the table with the blankets at the CMA stall I put the prices above what they had said.. They had like $15-$20 on them.
I told them they were too cheap and its an insult to those who make them. And also said if you price higher you can always haggle if need be.

Im itching to try crochet. Id just googled c2 blankets last night and my friend rang so Ill try again today.

Said to one of the girls at the supermarket this morning. Im a bit worried about what Im going to do next year. Ive spent many many hours doing things for this stall.. If it doesn't sell I wont be trying again next year, so worried what Ill do with my time

Well not a terribly good start to my visit to see the old lady who wants the chair covers. Parked outside in the road, walked up the concrete driveway, didn't notice the lump of concrete in the centre of the driveway where the double gates meet and tripped over it, sprawled headlong along the concrete, bruised my left hand, took a chunk out of my right thumb, hurt my hip and my ankle and felt a right charlie. Looked round to see if anyone was watching, then picked myself up and gathered up the contents of my bag which had spilled out in all directions. When I left I found my cellphone almost on the pavement!

I have to cut a pattern for the covers and work out how much fabric she needs, then she is going to see if she can get more curtains as she wants the covers to match the curtains she's got. Might do a lot of work for no result, but we'll give it a go.

Ohhh dear carole, cats are so quick to spot an opportunity aren't they. Just waiting for our neighbour's cat to visit, am dreading it if the Furry One catches her.

If I can get my hayfever under control, I'll mow the lawn again this morning. It's supposed to rain over the weekend and the next lot of students arrive Monday.

Popeye, you will find heaps to do lol. What did you do before the stall? There is always something to create, maybe learn something new? I saw on FB our daughter has some felting needles.... hmmm.... am babysitting there next week so might investigate this purchase lol. Maybe something like felting?

I'm still in limbo with projects (so a fine one to talk about new things lol) and might follow my own advice and find something new to try.

Ohh Kuaka, I hope your not feeling even worse today..pleased you found your phone too.

Lucy must be a good catcher, finches are fast little birds. Mind you if it stunned itself on the window it didn't have a hope.

Yeah I have been saying that next year will be for learning. Im sure Ill find something to do.

I got my 4ply out last night and thought about crocheting a blanket but on a larger hook. Cos Im a tight crocheter and I want it to feel soft and lacy sort of.
I wish the school did more night classes here, they only do like driving, foreign languages and budgeting. Nothing Im interested in really.

Well I have to pop up the road to get a posty bag for a friend. She lives out of town and with the hours she works she cant get to the post shop. So Ill get the bag, she can put it in her mailbox for collection since she has rural delivery.

Morning ladies, yes I'm okay this morning, just discovered that my right knee is sore so must have whacked that too. Just as well I didn't knock myself out or I could have been there a while. Mr K would have eventually realised something was wrong when there was nobody to cook his tea last night! Haha. Worst of it was I didn't see it coming, one minute I was just walking, next thing, I'm virtually airborne.

Have another sewing job to do today, just shorten a pair of jeans for someone, but it keeps me out of mischief.

It was lovely and sunny earlier but it's clouding over now. Sat out on the deck yesterday afternoon and it was beautiful and I didn't feel guilty sitting relaxing as I'd spent some time weeding.

Right, I'd better have breakfast, didn't sleep well last night, so slept in when I finally did doze off, now I'm all behind.

Lovely day here I do like this time of year not too hot yet but bright days, seem to get more energy than I have in winter.
Good that no major injuries Kuaka.
Seems that night schools are almost a thing of the past now, several years back I did some interesting classes including several computer classes and an over locker one, but schools no longer get the funding.

Into town to the library as it is going to shut for a month for painting but found it already closed - notice said closed from 16.10.15 - so I thought that it would be open today as apparently did rather a lot of other people. Fortunately there is a branch library in Taradale so won't be deprived of reading.
Started a memory blanket to use up the smaller bits of wool, seems to be not as tedious as the 10 stitch but only onto 5th square so will see how soon the novelty wears off.

When at the supermarket this morning I noticed a flyer on the noticeboard advertising Crochet classes.
The lady would teach you how to make a Christmas tree ornament and hat or scarf.
But I thought at $20 per class and three was the course that was a bit steep.
I do hope a lot of people learn the craft tho

popeye I guess that whether the $20 a class is expensive or not would depend on how long the class lasts (ie, 1, 2 or 3 hours) and whether it's one on one, or if you're just one of a dozen pupils. I would willingly teach anyone how to crochet and would do it just for the enjoyment of spreading the craft, but if you are doing it professionally I guess you have to make a charge. But unless it's a one on one class, then I would say the tutor is coining it.

Just watered the garden, no sign of the dwarf beans that I put in last week, I hope they aren't going to fail me. Maybe they're thirsty so fingers crossed the little drink I've given them tonight will encourage them.

Popeye I run sewing classes for ladies for free , my feeling is we have a dying art so why not pass it on for free our parents did not charge us to learn. I have 3 new ladies right now ,

morning ladies :) I disagree kuaka, I don't think $20 per class is expensive. If the tutor is providing her time and materials, I would say it was cheap. I think it is the same or at least similar to selling our handknitted/crocheted items, you want the best price for your time and effort. If you have to pay top $$$ for an item, you tend to value it more. I would teach for free as well but not everyone knows someone who knows how to knit and crochet and maybe they don't learn from online tutorials. So if there is a market for it I say go for it and charge the $20.

Housework for me today, our next lot of students arrive on Monday, girls this time. Will be interesting to see what they would like to do.

Agree Kiwimade $20 per class seems quite reasonable even for a group session (as long as it isn't too big) when time and overheads are taken into account.

Quite enjoy doing the memory blanket, each square is quick to do so you can see it growing also as it comes off the needles after each square it means I can use my favourite needles and then they are freed up if I want to do something different. Did 8 squares yesterday and now doing a child's beanie so have variety.

Lovely day although a bit windy so planning on getting outside today.

Re the crochet tuition, agree I hadn't thought of the tutor providing the materials and overheads if she is hiring somewhere to hold the lessons, my thoughts were if it's only for an hour and she has 10 or 12 at a time, I don't see how you are going to actually learn much.

I might try to do some sewing today and then some more weeding.

Tried to reticence the Safari online last night but couldn't 'cos the WoF had expired on Thursday - bugger! So now needs a WoF as well as rego. Have to get that sorted on Monday.

I think she was hoping for a group set up cos shes doing at at the old council rooms. If I didn't know and wanted to learn id probably pay for it, but I think I would prefer one to one as well. Ill have a longer look at the flyer tomorrow.
It is nice to know she is keeping the art of crochet alive and that's the best part.

Ive decided to get all my stock out today, take photos and make up some price signs etc. Will be interesting to see it all out.

I started a crochet blanket last night. I have never done a baby blanket or shawl and Im a tight crocheter so Im trying for a looser look. Im using a 5mm hook with 4 ply. I started with 150 chain and just doing a gappy simple pattern and will put a shell edging on it. In white. My wrist has even behaved too,.. so far lol

Did anyone see the knitted rugby dolls on seven sharp last night.. She makes one in 7 hours... She obviously doesn't do anything else in that time. They were cool tho.. Jean Greenhowes patterns adapted lol

It took me ages to do the photos of all my stock yesterday. Theres a thread in general and Ive put them on FB.

Ive done 20 rows on my crochet blanket/shawl. Its soo soft. I love it.

Ill be doing photos of stuff to list on FB today anf doing more crochet. My wrist was a little tired last night, but its coping quite well so far. So long as I pace myself and have breaks.

MrP is in heaven we turned the jones channel on and found an old western called Branded. Its 50 years old lol and in black and white.

We have a lot of stuff recorded to watch too, so a day in the lounge is required lol

morning ladies :) There's all sorts of bugs going round at the moment carole, if they are sick, probably better you wait until they are well.

Another group of students arrive today so a quick whizz round the house to tidy, a mad dash to the supermarket and then over to Cambridge to pick the girls up.

Yesterday we had a couple stop and we thought they were lost and going to ask for directions but no, they wanted to know what colours we had painted the house and roof as they were trying to decide on colours for their home. They live miles away so was happy to tell them and took it as a compliment.

Managed to get some knitting done and have found a pattern for a hoodie I might knit for our grandy. It's plain stst but I could add a pattern I suppose. The hoodie pattern I really loved would be too small for her but I could have a tutu with chunkier wool or I could just knit it in a neutral colour for the next grandy (whenever that may be lol).
