morning girls been doing booties now will I get to the top carolev - 2015-10-04 07:03:00
morning ladies :) I love your shawl kuaka, nice for BBQs when the evenings cool down. We had a lovely day yesterday, lots of laughing and joking around. Bubble machines are so much fun lol, who said they were just for kids! I did a bit more to my 10 stitch blanket, slowly, slowly getting there. Today I'll take our son home and call in to see dad again. Will sort out his runner bean fence for him and return his kindle all loaded with more e books. Happy knitting :) kiwimade64 - 2015-10-04 07:46:00
Morning Promised BiL a treat while his wife is away so he has asked for KFC so easy for me and once less meal to think about, will get it for lunch today I think. Started another little top, still have quite a lot of wool tho use up so will keep going. jayemtoo - 2015-10-04 08:21:00
Kuaka, that shawl is the most beautiful thing, I am impressed that after such an effort you are thinking of doing another. Prettiest knitting I have seen for ages and I hope you find plenty of opportunities to wear it. The expected wind is yet to reach Wgtn but overcast-yesterday was perfect so not moaning marywea - 2015-10-04 10:29:00
Thank you marywea - years ago I had my "colours" done, and the colours in the shawl are so perfectly "my colours", I just love it, but wondered if other people would think it a bit "prissy". Well I suppose at the end of the day it doesn't matter what others think if i like it and enjoy wearing it. The pattern was so easy though, as it's just basically stocking stitch with increases and decreases to give the ruffled bits. Was thinking about going out to the boat today but the wind keeps puffing up and I don't want any wind as I would be rowing against the tide going out to the boat and against the tide coming back, so I don't need wind as well. See what tomorrow brings. I might plant the rest of the plants I bought on Thursday and clean the area where the fridge has gone from, just waiting for the end of the week so I can order some goodies from Loveknitting (don't want to put it on this months visa!), have my eye on a set of knitpro crochet hooks and some yarn (oh that's right, I said I wasn't buying any more yarn didn't I? - too bad) Have a super day everyone kuaka - 2015-10-04 11:22:00
morning ladies well I know now I can knit BLUE so off to spotlight I will go need a sewing pattern for rompers can't buy one any were. carolev - 2015-10-05 06:30:00
morning ladies :) Ohhh blue! Lovely lol. Busy day here today, our visitors arrive tomorrow so housework needs doing and I have a few things to do in town. I might be able to squeak in some knitting. happy knitting :) kiwimade64 - 2015-10-05 07:48:00
Morning ladies, how exciting carolev! Well it's not looking like such a nice day as it was yesterday - it was a fabulous day, bright sunshine and not a cloud in the sky, today it's mostly overcast and looks like we might get rain, so yes, I should have gone to the boat yesterday - hindsight eh? But yesterday I finished my c2c blanket which I started a week ago (just got to darn in the ends where I put some stripes in it), now I'm doing a little sleeveless top and beanie in the same yarn and on Wednesday I'll give it to one of the ladies at knit and natter for the red cross stall - saves me the postage on sending it to beanies for babies and it still goes to a good cause, then have to ponder what to do next - maybe, just maybe, I could finish some ufo's ??? What do you think? Have an awesome day everyone. kuaka - 2015-10-05 08:46:00
Morning everyone. Have knitted two snowmen since Friday night. And have them sewn to the point of stuffing. Have a fab day all Can't wait to get lappy back so I can see photos better. popeye333 - 2015-10-05 09:08:00
Morning Lovely day here so washing ready to go out. Might have a go at mowing the lawns later but don't want BiL to do them as he is not allowed to over-do things at the moment and I think if he sees me out there he will feel duty bound to do it even though my sister normally does them and he doesn't mind. Finished another top yesterday and started another one - they are sleepless so very quick to do but at least my bins will be looking fuller when I get home. jayemtoo - 2015-10-05 09:15:00
Love the shawl Kuaka.. Very Pretty. And Very "In".. popeye333 - 2015-10-05 18:22:00
sewing group today or craft group as some bring knitting. I have started a white layette with blue trim for the new baby, so 2 new babys with a month how lucky can I be, am planning next winters jumpers now . nice day sun's shining and I am on top of my world, carolev - 2015-10-06 07:35:00
morning ladies :) I did the same carole, after knitting all the layettes and beanies, I started on the next winter's knitting. Now I'm a year ahead :) Our visitors arrive today, three students for three nights and I have taken two other bookings. Will be very busy showing them around the district and on the neighbours farm. Hopefully I can squeeze in some knitting :) Happy knitting :) kiwimade64 - 2015-10-06 07:59:00
Morning everyone. Will be nice to see your world through other peoples eyes Kiwimade. We often take things for granted. I have two snowmen to stuff today. Amazing what you can get done when you don't have a computer lol. I got some lovely variegated yarn yesterday from spotlight. I might have a look for a c2c blanket. A long term project, but I miss crochet so much. Well I see the water works trucks are running around again , so maybe we have water.. Had no notice of it being off, so possibly a break down. So maybe I can go have a shower now lol. Have a good day everyone popeye333 - 2015-10-06 09:53:00
morning all. knitting this morning sewing in avo. forgot to put air/con back on last night so house is cool this morning. carolev - 2015-10-07 06:34:00
morning ladies :) Our students arrived yesterday and they are lovely young men, so polite. We're having fun with the language differences and my attempts at Japanese and their attempts at English have us in stitches. They adore the Furry One who is demanding their attention and one young man had never patted a dog before - can't imagine that! So our boy is the 'perfect' dog for him to 'practise' on, small and friendly. They were very tired though and we're letting them sleep for as long as they need too. Today, we're off to the beach - well we will be when the students surface and have breakfast lol. They were so excited to be going to a beach, amazing what we take for granted. We had students stay years ago but had forgotten how much they appreciate you taking them anywhere. I knitted a baby's beanie last night (under the watchful stares of the students lol) and will tuck it away. You never know! happy knitting :) kiwimade64 - 2015-10-07 08:12:00
Morning everyone. I would love to have students for short stays. But I wont ever do it with MrP being here. He has no patience and turns into an idiot when people stay.. when our friends son stayed with us for a while, MrP turned into a weird person. It is amazing at what we take for granted. I finished the two snow men last night.. well Nearly cos I left the scarf off one, So Ill put that on later and add a few stitches so it cant go missing in the toy box. IM going to start making some price tags and signs so will also take photos while I have everything out. Have a good day all popeye333 - 2015-10-07 09:04:00
Morning ladies, enjoy the company of your students kiwimade, my first husband and I used to take in French and German students during the summer when we lived in England, they would stay for a month at a time (and paid very well). They used to have us in stitches at times. I remember one wanted "keys" on his sandwiches (cheese). Which beach do you take them to? Here's a pic of the blanket, top and beanie I'm donating to the red cross (along with 4 other blankets - all similar) https://trademe.tmcdn.co.nz/photoserver/full/416872021.jpg I'm really pleased with the way they all turned out. Might get some more of that "twinkle" yarn. Had a look yesterday at the blanket that my gran made. I haven't washed it yet, but it measures 32 squares x 22 squares and there are 20 that need attention. Just wondering if any of you lovely ladies would have any little nuggets of 4 ply that they don't want and would be prepared to send me - it's not something I use a lot of and I'm struggling to find enough to repair the blanket and it seems a shame to throw it out. Have a super day everyone. Edited by kuaka at 9:10 am, Wed 7 Oct kuaka - 2015-10-07 09:05:00
Morning All, Off home today and am looking forward to my own bed again even though the bed here is very comfortable it just isn't "home"! Off to Wellington at the weekend but only for one or perhaps 2 nights so I guess there will be several things needing doing before I take off again, then hope I can stay put for a couple of weeks. jayemtoo - 2015-10-07 09:55:00
I love that twinkle yarn Kuaka.. Ive got red green and pink. My cardy with the frill is the pink one and Ive been doing stockings in the red and green popeye333 - 2015-10-07 12:28:00
Kuaka - I sold most of my 4ply when I sold my knitting machine, but I do have a few bits and pieces that you are more than welcome to have. Do you still have my email? Let me know - Diane tinybaldone - 2015-10-07 18:32:00
Hi Diane, no sorry, I don't seem to have it - but I see it was way back in 2008 when we traded, so possibly you have a different one now anyway. If you are still at the same address, I could send you a NZ Post prepaid bag - how about that? And thank you for your offer of help. The blanket must be over 60 years old and it seems a shame to throw it out after all these years. kuaka - 2015-10-07 21:20:00
morning girls. for the sewing ladies on here I went to back street bargin's in Hamilton yesterday. they have a lot of fabric at $1 a meter so I spent over $100 on some . so much for saving money and am going well on baby's layette too carolev - 2015-10-08 07:15:00
morning ladies :) I love your c2c blanket kuaka, just gorgeous. I don't have much 4ply sorry, I 'doubled' my scraps with other 4 ply and used it in other projects as doubleknit. We took our students to Papamoa Beach yesterday along with the Furry One. Omg lol, what a hoot to see their faces when we got there. They loved it, had to persuade them to take their shoes and socks off though lol. And last night they were outside taking photos of the stars. All stuff we take for granted. I remember students we had in the past do similar things. They will sleep until pretty much lunch time (suits me lol) then today it's shopping and into the milking shed later this afternoon. Today is our last full day with them and they move on tomorrow. Our next group is booked in for around 10 days time. So far, I haven't done much knitting. What little stash I have is in a bedroom and I don't like going into the bedrooms while guests stay. happy knitting :) kiwimade64 - 2015-10-08 08:12:00
Morning Very little knitting yesterday, hope to do some later today. jayemtoo - 2015-10-08 08:21:00
Kuaka - Not at same address - we moved into a retirement village 3 years ago, hence my having to sell knitting machine (and nearly everything else, or so it seems). Are you still with paradise? I think I can remember the first part of your ermail, but have a feeling that you changed from paradise. tinybaldone - 2015-10-08 09:08:00
Moring everyone. What colours do you need Kuaka.. I have a crate of baby yarns. I think I know where it is so will have a look later. Kiwimade its so nice you have done things for the students they wouldn't normally see. Lol Carole, a good investment on the fabric tho. I didn't even look at the fabric in Davids emporium on Monday , MrP was getting tired. But I will go back to look. No news yesterday from Clinic.. Maybe today. So on stand by and maybe when I tka ehim up to hospital I will stop for a good long look at the emporium. Shopping this morning... Its raining but warm.. Will have to dig out the summer nighties.. I brought a couple a couple of months ago and Im not sure where I put them. Most likely in the wardrobe tho. Have a fab day all popeye333 - 2015-10-08 09:18:00
tinybaldone, no I'm not with paradise now, I was one of the first that they chucked out (not sure why as I always paid on time!) The first part is still the same but I'm with clear now, so dot net dot nz - otherwise, are you on facebook? it's west wind 3 at clear Edited by kuaka at 9:23 am, Thu 8 Oct kuaka - 2015-10-08 09:22:00
Morning ladies, it's looking like a reasonable sort of day here, bit of cloud and a bit of wind but it's sunny, can't say it's tropical yet though, but yesterday afternoon I sat out on the deck and it was so hot - glorious. I've started another shawl - the same pattern as the blue/pink/green summer shawl, but this is in lace weight, so will need to do extra pattern repeats. Not sure I'm liking the colour of it, sort of navy, slate and khaki, so a bit drab. Might have to sell it rather than wear it. We'll see. Popeye, it honestly doesn't matter what colours the yarn is, doesn't matter if it's wool or acrylic (although I expect the blanket is wool, I don't know when acrylic became available). The blanket has every colour under the sun in it and no pattern, just a hotch potch of colour. Might clean some windows today - then again I might not. One of my friends put a thing on fb this week that said "the world is ending tomorrow" according to some nut somewhere - so I said "well I won't bother doing the housework today then!" Have a good day everyone. kuaka - 2015-10-08 09:27:00
Carole NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO you should have told me that. Ill have to go now. Have a nice day all. dilligaf_dah - 2015-10-08 11:55:00
Kuaka - Parcel on way - hope you can make good use of it. tinybaldone - 2015-10-08 15:39:00
Thank you so much tinybaldone. I'm sure I'll be able to use it. kuaka - 2015-10-08 16:34:00
our students are zonked out lol, sound asleep (again!). MrK took them up to the cowshed to watch the cows being milked and one ended up with some cow poop on him. So I've done their washing and thrown it into the drier all ready for packing. Popeye, we like to do things with the students, we feel they have paid lots of $$$ to come here and stay with us so we want them to make the most of their time with us. Even if it is simple stuff like going to the beach or camping on the front lawn. This afternoon I was able to do a bit of knitting, have started a wee baby beanie (another one). Will have a small stash of baby knitting to tuck away soon or maybe donate to charity. kiwimade64 - 2015-10-08 18:08:00
morning girls kiwi cow poop on chillblands is good had a friend who always walked in warm poops well getting on well with knitting now . had a big fight last night with MR T so thinking of packing bags and going, carolev - 2015-10-09 06:59:00
Morning ladies, lovely clear sky and sunshine this morning, but it's certainly nippy. Going shopping this morning, groceries, new pair of jeans and a new iron. I'm fed up with my iron, it's all gunked up with sticky gunk, which I don't seem to be able to clean off it, and I'm sick of it, so Briscoes will be getting a visit from me today. Ordered some more interchangeable tips last night and a few balls of wool (just to make up the $100 to get the free shipping), decided not to get the crochet hooks at this stage, as I mostly only use two sizes, 4mm and 4.5mm - not often I use the others, and I have heaps of hooks. Will just buy a couple individually rather than buying a set of 10 for $55 - although that's a good price, but not cheap if I'm not going to use most of them. Here's a pic of the blanket I'm planning on mending, and thanks to tinybaldone and a couple of ladies who responded to my request on fb I will probably receive enough 4 ply to replace the damaged squares. https://trademe.tmcdn.co.nz/photoserver/full/417325038.jpg No colour co-ordination and nothing like a single colour around each square, but it's very special to me, as it's the only thing I have that belonged to my gran. She was the one who taught me to crochet. Have a super day everyone. kuaka - 2015-10-09 09:21:00
Morning everyone Its nice to see your world through others eyes too eh Kiwimade. I used to teach the Thai girls how to cook "Kiwi" meals for their husbands. They were daunted with making pavlova etc either lol. A lovely day here. It was cooler through the night cos I wore a spring nightie lol. Missy kept me warm tho. I started a second Santa last night. Yesterday afternoon I played in my craft room, sorting ribbons and buttons into new sets of plastic drawers and jars etc. I enjoy doing that. Have to duck up the road, my thought of eeking out my fish oil casuals isn't too kind on the body. So Ill get some more when I pick up our repeats and owed meds. Have an awesome say everyone popeye333 - 2015-10-09 09:21:00
kuaka, that is a magnificent blanket and must represent many hours by the fireside for your Gran.. marywea - 2015-10-09 10:51:00
A beautiful Blanket Kuaka. Holler if you need more and Ill dig around under the sewing table popeye333 - 2015-10-09 12:14:00
afternoon ladies :) Our students are off to visit another town, was fun having them stay. The blanket is lovely kuaka, will be well worth mending :) After I have stripped the beds and put the wash on I'm going to knit :) Happy knitting :) kiwimade64 - 2015-10-09 12:30:00
Kuaka - your gran's blanket is lovely - well worth the effort to save it - now it will be something of both your gran and yourself. tinybaldone - 2015-10-09 14:30:00
tinybaldone, they are both gorgeous. kuaka - 2015-10-09 16:21:00
They are really lovely Tinybaldone - you must be really pleased with the effort jayemtoo - 2015-10-09 16:56:00
Oh they are beautiful Tinybaldone... One day I will get the pattern for the Dumpling dolls. They are soo cute. popeye333 - 2015-10-09 17:25:00
morning girls getting on nicely will my jacket , any one get a spare bed I want to run away from home with my knitting carolev - 2015-10-10 07:26:00
morning ladies :) Gorgeous dolls, tinybaldone :) the lucky people who receive those! Busy day today, we have a 50th to go to so need to make a plate and still have the gift to buy. I might be able to squeak in some knitting :) happy knitting :) kiwimade64 - 2015-10-10 07:50:00
Morning everyone We heard yesterday from the clinic re MrPs heart surgery. They have decided to put his case to the groin option. That Panel meets in a couple of weeks. Then surgery will be a few months away if all is ok. I plan on finishing the second santa today and ill have them made up tomorrow. Have an awesome day everyone popeye333 - 2015-10-10 09:14:00
morning girls. the pain in my face kept me awake all night only 1 sleeve to go on jacket carolev - 2015-10-11 06:41:00
morning ladies :) That is good news about mrP's surgery popeye :) Now you play the waiting game! Lawns need mowing today as I couldn't get the mower out while we had students. Looks like rain soon so I had better finish this coffee and head outside. One of the perks of living rural, no one gives a dam when you mow the lawns. I try to be considerate with our new neighbours though as they have a baby. No knitting for me yesterday, we were at a 50th and by the time we got home I was knackered. We've had an idea for a business venture so I am working out the costings and working my way through a business plan before we approach an accountant and the bank. I'm tired of applying for jobs and being turned down. Time to do my own thing I think. Nothing ventured, nothing gained! Hopefully I can knit later on today :) happy knitting :) kiwimade64 - 2015-10-11 08:40:00
Morning everyone Yep Kiwimade a bit more waiting, but I cant see them deciding not to do it now, So fingers crossed. Hope things work for your new venture. Cloudy here too. Not cold tho. windy out there. Ive got to pop up the road to get a rubbish sticker for the bag I filled yesterday while clearing the garage. Yay. A lot to go but its a start. Will do the floor when I get back, trim MrP's mo and make a couple of meat patties so he can have hamburgers for tea. So I should get to sewing the santa's up later. I have some sewing I was to do to, so its all on lol.. Ill leave the sewing till the santas are done tho or they might not get done in a while . Have a good day all. popeye333 - 2015-10-11 09:21:00
Lovely sunny day here in Naper. Out in the garden early in case it gets too hot later on. sunflowers28 - 2015-10-11 10:52:00
