| 8001 | Welcome to the Coin Club. We are an assortment of newbies and oldbies, amateurs and experts with questions and answers for oldbies and newbies, amateurs and experts in coin collecting, also known as numismatics. Whether you are just getting started, have been collecting for years or have simply found some old coins about the place that you’d like to sell, this is the place to ask your questions. No one has all the answers, and you may get five differing answers to the same question, yet each may be right in a manner of speaking, especially if opinions are involved. Opinions often vary. If you receive no answer to your query within 48 hours, please ask again. translateltd - 2016-11-22 16:36:00 |

Wow, flashback!! The better parts of my Winged Liberty Dime, Wheat Penny and Bison collection (that I had before I came to NZ) were sold to me by Julian at his shop in Silver Spring when I was in high school. Famous last words: Didn't even need to lead in or follow with, "Here, hold my beer." Edited by echoriath at 4:26 pm, Sat 26 Nov echoriath - 2016-11-26 16:21:00 |

| 8015 | I've struggled to get much in the way of reasonably new looking dollar coins, despite getting a fair few rolls along with all the 20-cent pieces I've been going through. Then, on a whim I asked for ten one-dollar coins to round up eight rolls to make $50. One of them was a rather sharp-looking one of these: http://www.coinerrors.nz/coins/new-zealand-decimal/1-coins-c echoriath - 2016-11-26 20:00:00 |

| 8017 | Hey, jym, do you manage to get reserve bank rolls? If so, how? All the ones that come out of the Westpac change machine are all sorts, though I have gotten the occasional lot of 20-cent pieces that were all reserve bank ones. The ones from Kiwibank were about the freshest I've ever gotten. echoriath - 2016-11-27 10:18:00 |

A Christchurch based coin collector also showed me one of these but un surprisingly didn't want to sell it to me. kiwisteven - 2016-11-27 13:19:00 |
| 8019 | By the way, I guess i should mention for coin collectors based outside Christchurch that I'm the leading coin and banknote dealer in Christchurch but many probably won't realise this. All my coin sales are handled by Julie who works for me (she used to work for Tom Taylor Young who traded as NZ Collector Service until he died 4 years ago) and includes sales made on trademe under the julie2406 name. kiwisteven - 2016-11-27 13:25:00 |

Very Nice find. Jym first sent one of these for me to photograph and they look great. I purchased one from trademe and found 2 searching 1k bags of coins but I search a lot of coins so it is a very very low percentage overall I have 2 of the 2010 similar faults has anyone else found one yet? mudeki - 2016-11-27 22:28:00 |

It is just a matter of what the security companies have in stock to supply the branches. I doubt they re-roll them in the south island but not sure how to find out. If they get them from Wellington you should have a good chance to get new mint rolled ones soon. A month or 2 ago Westpac changed security companies so they should have switched from ACM rolls to Armourguard by now December is the best time and it will be worth checking the banks for new rolls or notes. Up to 5 times more gets distributed in Dec-Jan than any other time of the year I have been told mudeki - 2016-11-27 22:36:00 |

| 8024 | Cheers, gents. I will make a vigorous effort on one and two dollar coins in the coming months. I've certainly come across my share of flaws in the one-dollar coin department. I've found far fewer in the twos, but I've not been looking as hard at them. I'm not entirely surprised by the big cud on the right-hand reverse of the 2013 one dollar, as there was clearly a break forming slowly. I'll look for the 2013 I found recently where the die crack had opened significantly, relatively speaking. I've not seen that 2010, mudeki, but I will keep my eyes open. Is there notable cracking on other 2010s that would be a precursor to such a large cud? Edited by echoriath at 10:45 pm, Mon 28 Nov echoriath - 2016-11-28 22:37:00 |

| 8031 | Yes collectors want them but you will be lucky to get 10% over face value for them and then you have to pay fees. But often better than paying to ship them to the reserve bank to cash them in a face value mudeki - 2016-12-05 19:59:00 |
