Woohoo - I'm in.

Yay that is exciting. Now I just have to figure out how to join you. Well I'm glad my tears, tanty and sulk of the other night didn't last too long or we wouldn't have our new facebook thingy. See I believe in Karma ie good karma. So thanks so much for the complainers you have now made us evolve into a better place. I received a reply from Trade Me from my "what have I done wrong, please explain". I will write it here for you all, so you don't also get put in the naughty chair.
We set up the message board on Trade Me to help stimulate discussion between our members to help create a closer community.
We made it pretty clear from the start that the message board shouldn't be used by members to advertise their own listings as this wouldn't be inline with our aims for the message board.
So we can't allow any material to be posted on the boards that can be linked to that members listings. We realise promotion of your own listings wasn't your intention here Armin but we do need to ensure all our members are complying with the terms of the message board.
Hopefully this explains where we stand. You are more than welcome to continue to use the message board, but it would be good if you could familiarise yourself with our message board policy.
Well there you go. I suposse I must agree that I broke the rules. However I thought nobody on a knitting thread would want to buy each others show and tell craft, as we could easily make it ourselves such is the talent of us all.
I'm going to go exploring on face book because I just finished something and I'm super proud of it and bursting to have a skite and show off to you all. Bye love to you all. Even the dobbers.

*** Raises my Hand*** I visited deramores today ... Yayayayayay 4 books, 2 pair of knitting needles, they are sooo cheap on there and 26 balls of wool on their way.."cough cough" $130 damage.
But being that I paid $1-59 for Pony knitting needles a pair instead of the $5 I paid here in town.
Jean Greenhowes books on special again $9-80 each instead of $21-50 at spotlight.
Only thing I couldnt get a teal colour to suit. But we have to take MrP up to the renal dr next week so Ill pop into Spotlight since we will only be 5 mins away.

Right Im off... Noo behaving now people lol

Sorry, gals, I'm not joining you on Facebook.
I do not approve of the way they gather data on everyone.

I'm sure you can still post photos of your creations on TM, just not stuff you are currently selling! I enjoy looking at your handiwork.

I contributed to this thread when it first started, and made the mistake of writing out a website in long hand for a certain place where we all like to shop for cheap wool. I got an email from trade me quoting a post that had used disgusting language, and saying I had made it and was going to be banned. I was terribly upset and phoned them, they discovered that somehow they had made a mistake, and that wasnt my post, they had had a complaint about me telling the address, but had decided not to take any action seeing as it wasnt my website, but had moved to the next complaint and sent it to me. I was so upset I haven't posted in this thread again, in case someone else complained about me.

Talk about walking on egg shells, it's getting to the point where you have to stop and think not twice but three times before you actually press the "post message" button round here. Sad I think.

Is it really trademe message board members that put in complaints or is there someone at trade me that goes through all the messages? I can't see why anyone who was a genuine poster would take offence at our stupid little mistakes.

I'm told there are a lot of mean spirited people out there.

armin59 - 2013-03-09 23:15:00
769

Morning All.

Sadly your right Armin, there are alot of mean spirited poeple out there.

But to come in here and get pictures taken off, that are not items for sale is just rediculous. And I think TM have made the wrong desicion in this case.

I got a warning once, and I still have no idea what for lol.

Today after Ive put the meat in the crockpot for tea and been to the shop. Im going to have to sort through my wool draws. Im going to transfer all the wee bit balles into two of the smaller drawers and then tidy the large balls to make room for 26 new balls of wool ...What have I done lol.

The order wont look bright and cheerfull really cos I needed different darker greens etc. But It will still be fun getting it. Fingers crossed Wednesday will be the day, working on the time frame of the last order.

Then Im going to keep working on Friskin the Golfer. Doing the smaller bits of him till I have the white I need for the body etc.

Have a good day all.. Ill be over in the other place too later

Morning all - my fb page keeps crashing (happens a lot to me LOL). My leg is not healing - in fact it is a rather large gaping hole, my foot is very swollen and my toes ache. My other leg which is my bad leg is worse because I am over compensating and using it more than I should. Mr Critic and Miss 10 are moving her playhouse into its permanent spot today and I am on camera duty. Then I will be sitting with my legs propped up either knitting or card making (I have been asked to make a special birthday card). Hopefully will be able to get on the other site later today. Take care all :-)

oh critic that sounds awful. I hope you can rest with your feet up (your bad one and your injured one) and that your injury will soon heal.

Morning all,
so sorry to read that your leg is not healing thecritic, that's not good at all. The swelling and the aching toes don't sound good either, keep those legs rested, and enjoy your crafting.
Hi to everyone else, have a lovely Sunday whatever you're doing xo

Pops I must correct you, the garments in the photo were also for sale in my Trade Me thingy. Well they had been for about 5 minutes. I put them up for sale then decided to show them off to you guys. I suposse i see their point. But no way was I expecting you guys to buy my stuff, especially when you could make it easily yourself. I also showed them to the friends in the So Alone thread, which is a grief support thread. They like to see my stuff. Was wondering what the allowable time frame would be, I mean can I show them the photos, then list for sale a week later. Would that still be wrong? Maybe I should aske Trade Me. I'm a bit worried about even talking about what I have knitted now as most of it goes for sale. Is talking o/k?
Hey Maible great job making the facebook knatty knitty, have I got the name right this time? Wow it has taken off so well and you have made a lot of people happy. One question, Why didn't you do this ages ago? Ha-ha.
I wonder if the dobbers will join and how would we know who they are? Owwww interesting, espionage! Bye.

armin59 - 2013-03-10 11:29:00
774

It might have been due to the time frame Armin.. still a petty thing to do tho eh.
At least we can show and tell on fb now.

I have sorted the wool, made room for the new stuff. And picked out the colours for Frisken aka the golfer... So much I cant do on him tho untill the wool arrives. but thankfully I have started on what I can.

Have got lamb shanks in the crockpot. Smells devine..

The Critic what do the drs say about your leg? Sounds like it needs something to help prevent infection etc. Keep up with pain meds and take things easy

Took Quinn for a walk with my girlfriend and her dog. On the way home went to the supermarket. Came home and made ginger gems. I am meeting another girlfriend for lunch and then Quinn and I are going on another walk with her and her dog and then I'm going out to her place for tea later. We are going to sit and knit. I am going to start a pair of fingerless gloves. Taking my cross stitch as well just in case I can't master the gloves on circular needles.

Enjoy your Sunday everyone. Will check the other place later tonight.

mmmmmm ginger gems, haven't had those for years!
I've had a productive morning, houseworky type chores done, pruning done in the garden (nearly sorted for winter :D) and the back of a wee V neck cardy finished and part way up the left front.
Thecritic, your leg doesn't sound good at all, maybe another docs visit? I hope you are taking those pain meds as popeye suggested and you are being fussed over!
I cross stitch and do hardanger too, I have a cross stitch 'Noah's Ark' already made from years ago but never framed. Husband is going to make me a frame for it for the new baby. Might even do some hardanger for the babies nursery... ommg I have nooo time to find a job and do paid work, life is just tooo full and busy... only kidding... I'm desperate to get back into the classroom, I miss teaching terribly.

Yummm Ginger gems... I actually have the real old fashioned gem irons. And I love ginger baking. But I dont need it lol...

Im glad I dont have to fit work in around everything else. I am very lucky. But sometimes I do miss human contact . Lol thats like out of our house human.
But looking after MrP has been my job all along. I get to do my hobbies within other stuff. So I am spoilt really.
Have done the hair, eye brows and nose I planned for today , will start the Plus Fours after tea.. A big challenge for me cos I have to embroider the horizontal lines. I hoped they were knitted in. But its a challenge, nice to be pushed in things.
About to have dinner.. lambshanks done in the crockpot yumm.. been smelling lovely all day.

Taking MrP to drs in the morning so will be here later than usual...

Have a good night all

Yes popeye I have the old fashioned cast iron gem irons too. In fact I bought them off here not long ago. I took the gems out to my friend's place and we had them heated, with ice-cream and home-made custard - they were to die for - lol.

Started the pair of fingerless mittens.

Off to bed now.

Of course you can Monty anyone can. I had a cat called Monty.

Welcome Monty... Lol at wool problem... The wool isnt the problem its the fact that none of us can stop getting the stuff lol...
Im waiting for an order to arrive from deramores.com in the UK.. Should be here wednesday hopefully.. Thats another 26 balls of wool lolo and four more books and Knitting needles.
I still cant get over the fact that needles are one third of the price as they are in town here.

Have to take MrP to drs this morning. Hopefully to get someone elses opinion re his neurelgia. Seeing a different dr cos ours really hasnt helped at all. Will Take Bertie with me cos a friend wants to see him before I post him later and she will be at the drs too.

I started Friskens Plus Fours last night...

Going to be a lovely day today.. Have a good one everyone

I can't believe needle prices either popeye, I saw some in Spotlight for $12! You could use them as a ruler as they had the measurements on them and they were pretty colours but $12?? I went to the salvos and bought four pairs for $1 lol. Am regretting giving away all my needles, stitch holders etc now!

Mum and I did the same thing a few years ago. Knitting aggrivated my torn bicep muscle and I cant remmeber why she stopped. So we sold the lot. But I have gradually brought them from Oppies.
But the shop prices are shocking. I got the Pony brand cos thats the brand of the pair I paid $5 for. I like metal needles... Went through a stage of using bamboo but I do prefer metal ones.
Evenatually Im going to have me a complete set of Pony ones in two lengths. Then I can have a nice tidy looking needle tin lol.

popeye333 - 2013-03-11 08:05:00
784

I prefer metal needles too, have a plastic pair as they were the only ones I could get locally in that size (this was before I found out about the salvos) and they are soo bendy, don't like them at all. I've never used bamboo needles before.

Thanks Armin, joined and excepted :) bet he was a sweetie

Thanks Popeye....I'm going to be cleaning out my craft room next,as I have some of our old kitchen cabinets going in,and I think I might be band from buying anymore once my other half sees whats been happening down there LOL

I like bamboo DPNs but I always knit the points off them :(

monty7 - 2013-03-11 09:27:00
786

Morning all, I just bought some needles yesterday and yes they were expensive :(
I prefer bamboo as I don't get such sore hands, but have all types of needles really. Some were my grandmother's, and she gave me all her crochet hooks too, when she stopped using them. I always think of her when I am crocheting.
I should be in my craft room sorting out all the stuff that came back from storage last week, but not feeling the best today, so just resting.
Popeye I hope the different doctor was helpful for Mr P, I'm sure everyone just loved seeing Bertie.
Have a lovely day everyone xoxo

Hi all... two hours at the drs and medlab lol... They had a couple fo emergencys , we could have rebooked but we stayed.
The good news is the dr is going to refer mrP to an ENT to see what can be done for his neurelgia. Cos medications havent helped and he has had it 4 years. It was soo nice to be listened too.

Im going to be known around town as the Mad Doll lady lol.. but my friend got to see him, which was the main purpose of taking him down. I might have another order too, a guy in the medlab was very interested.
I got the order from one of the girls at the supermarket. she wants a lolly seller girl.. minus the lollypops on her head . so that is cool.

Have to go back to drs tomorrow lol Flu shot time. I hate them, I can do blood tests anytime, but the shot into the muscle and having lures put in are my pet hates.

Have a good day all

popeye333 - 2013-03-11 12:48:00
788

So pleased that Mr P is being referred - neuralgia is awful. Hope he doesn't have to wait long for an ENT appointment, 4 years is a very long time to be putting up with that.
Cool that you got some orders popeye, that's awesome, keeping fingers crossed for the second order anyway.
I don't mind the flu shot, but hate getting blood tests as they have to do them from my hand.
Will be thinking of you getting your flu shot tomorrow though xo

maible - 2013-03-11 12:57:00
789

Ouchies I hate having needles in the back of my hand.. I bruise through to the palm and it stays for weeks. So if I have to have lures I have to have them in the elbow or in the artery that runs up via the base of your thumb.

Yeah 4 yrs of massive pain is too long. our normal dr tried two meds but neither helped and he just left him to it. Yet he has been told everytime we see him.
So fingers crossed we can get something done. There is a surgical procedure that can be done, so hopefully we can try that. hes willing, if they actually do it here in NZ

I prefer the metal needles too kiwi, but found that they were turning my white baby wool and shade of grey. Plastic too bendy, but you can get the pony plastic coated metal needles and I find them great, and not too expensive, about $5-$7 depending on the size.

nannymaid - 2013-03-11 13:16:00
791

Funny you should say about the metal needles turning white grey nannymaid.
Ive wondered for years if thats how babys got lead poisoning. They can easily suck the clothing. Alot of people dont wash before they wear so easy for a baby to get a good dose of metal from the first wearing.

popeye333 - 2013-03-11 13:21:00
792

I doubt it, popeye, the old steel needles were not painted. I don't think lead paint was ever used on knitting needles.

I have old bone ones and old slightly rusted steel ones from Victorian times. Then plastics started about the 1930s I think. Some were bendy and some were not. I have some old wooden ones too, thicker ones. The anodised steel ones are very stable but I hate knitting with them, they seem to grate. The ones I like best are the steel ones with a thin coating of plastic - nice to handle and they don't bend too much.

My bendiest bended needles would be about a size 13 I think - I inherited them and have only used them to knit sewing cotton with, just as a fun experiment. With the right thread you could knit lace on them, but I would have to have a LOT of time on my hands to attempt that.

I saw a great bunch of knitting needles for sale at the church fair I went to at the weekend. Bought some okay wool there, but managed to lose one of my favourite earrings. The air was blue when I discovered that!!!

daleaway - 2013-03-11 17:57:00
793

Wow you have a gpood collection by the sounds daleaway.. '

Not good re the earring tho, culd you put a notice up somewhere . perhaps supermarket and church notice board etc?

I like rigid needles. Dont like them to have give in them lol

popeye333 - 2013-03-11 18:07:00
794

I have only recently tried the bamboo needles and I really like them. I do like the metal needles as well though.

I inherited my sister's needles as she doesn't knit any more and also my aunty's knitting needles and crochet hooks when she died. I already had a lot of my own. I have heaps of needles, lol. And now I'm in the process of building up a supply of circulars !

Hope things can be worked out successfully for Mr P, Popeye.

Morning all.
I managed to get half of friskens Plus Fours finished last night. The way to do the stitching came to me sometime through the night. I find it strange tho that the stitches are longer than the normal knitted stitches.

Have postings to do this morning before we get our flu shots. So I will knit before we go.

Wonder if My parcels will arrive tomorrow wooohoooo cant wait...

have a good day all

Morning everyone. My Deramores order arrived yesterday (mostly patterns) not bad as I placed the order last Monday :-) I have to sort out things for Miss 10 as she goes on school camp tomorrow - Mr Critic is going to bake a cake for her to take tonight as I cannot stand long enough to do it. At least it is a dreary day so I don't feel bad sitting and knitting, leg is very sore today so I might have to go to bed later as it the most comfortable place to be. Hope everyone has a great day.

thecritic - 2013-03-12 08:50:00

Morning all, another quiet day here too. It's hubby's 60th birthday and he has taken the day off work so we're just having a nice cruisy day. The kids will be here after they finish work, so we will have a nice family dinner. He didn't want any fuss.
Thecritic I am very worried about you and your leg, I hope it gets better soon, sending ((hugs)) your way
Popeye hope your flu shots went ok, have been thinking of you. Frisken's plus fours sound interesting, I don't think I have that pattern/book.
Take care everyone, happy knitting xo

Hii All.. the shot has been cruisy today.. I dont have any pain at all at the mo... Normally it would be throbbing by now.. So fingers crossed.

The Critic have you seen the dr re your leg. Its starting to worry me too.

Maible here is a pic of Friskens Plus Fours... Discovered his name in Binky Bunker lol but Im calling him Frisken

http://images.trademe.co.nz/photoserver/full/258492417.jpg

The horizontal stripes are knitted in but the vertical red is sticthed on afterwards... I think theres going to be a fair whack of work on there.

Going to be a stinking hot one here today.. barely any wind at all.

popeye333 - 2013-03-12 13:07:00
799

Morning all.. im guessing everyone is in the other place. I dont go there often.
Got the second piece of friskens plus fours finished last night.

Fingers crossed, or maybe Im being too hopefull that my parcel from deramores might arrive today.

I cant beleive how good my arm is this year after my flu shot. Its tender around where it was put in but Im not left with an arm I can barely use this time. Normally it renders my arm totally useless for a few days.

I might do another part of the girl doll today.. If I alternate Ill have them both done in about the same time.. Will see. have to see what things I can do before my order arrives.

The critic I hope that leg is improving..

Have a good day everyone

Hi popeye and all,
good to hear see that you arm is good after your flu shot! Had a nice quiet day with hubby yesterday for his birthday and a lovely meal with our adult children last night. He was happy with his no fuss birthday.
thecritic I have been thinking about you, and hoping your leg is beginning to improve.
Hope everyone has a happy knitty day today, take care all xoxo
