| we are not in a bed of roses at the moment, master 16 is still very unsettled and was causing a bit of strife in whangarei so he has moved down here with me. I keep telling him how much we all love him but when he is down he is very down. We are off to the doctors this afternoon. I still would not trade him for anything else in the world. I feel so helpless for him at the moment though. Lots of love and hugs and understanding. smartgirl - 2008-03-13 09:33:00 |
| Hi girls That was cool grizzly. Yes I believe we make better grandparents because we know the mistakes we made rearing our children and we are so much wiser. Smartgirl teenagers are difficult at times. My 20 year old grandson was techy at 16 and a dream of a boy at 18. He is a real honey. His younger brother is going through the testosterone thing at the mo. All we can do is keep telling them we love them and make sure they know where the boundaries of behaviour are and why we put them in place. Keeping them safe is so important because when they are down they don't think straight. Good on you for looking after him. My three grandchildren including Mr 20 and master 14 were very unsettled when they moved back from Queensland. Hope he settles soon. makerealbany - 2008-03-13 12:53:00 |
| thanks makereal, you think at the time you are the only one with the problem. We went to the doctor and she had a good talk to him. I made 2 appointments and went in first. I am on prendesone for 6 days to clear this gunk. I hate it but sometime you have to do what is right and it makes me pain free which is a bonus. Then L went in and was there for ages. She gave him some thing to take and we go back in 3-4 weeks time. He feels better already and so do I. smartgirl - 2008-03-13 16:59:00 |
| Yay for prednisone! Thats what finally got me better, too. Your young people are lucky to have you both supporting them. My daughters partner has Bi-polar disorder and has more than his share of struggles growing up with little to no family awareness of his condition throughout. A mental health problem was NOT in their family!! We are so lucky to have him as part of our family, I hope the rest of his life is not so negative. grizzly4 - 2008-03-13 19:01:00 |
| yes its great isnt it, by tomorrow i will start to be feeling better, I weezed and coughed all last night and went back to bed this morning for a 2 hour sleep. best I had had. smartgirl - 2008-03-13 20:49:00 |
| I had a much better night last night so off to a good start today. Going out now to have a hair cut. Hope everyone is well. smartgirl - 2008-03-14 12:20:00 |
| That is great smartgirl. You need that holiday on the Gold Coast girl. Grizzly it is very hard for people who have Mental Health Disorders if their own family just ignores it. Grrrrr. I am glad your Son-in- Law has a Mother in Law like you. One of my kids has Bi Polar so I know how hearbreaking it can be at times for them and I also know that the right medication and great support is the key to better living for them. These people who bury their heads in the sand are no help whatsoever. Lots of families are actually like that. Don't want to know!!!!! makerealbany - 2008-03-14 14:15:00 |
| I think the scariest thing for me is what if what if we cant help him. They just dont realise how precious they are. But when they feel down the whole world is against them. His other grandmother and I are keeping in touch and her brother helps troubled boys so he has been helpful and will be there if we need him. It is so hard going away and leaving him. smartgirl - 2008-03-14 16:48:00 |
| This morning he told me he thought I could leave him home alone, he had to learn to live on his own some time it might as well now. I said on day I might go away for a night but it was not negotiable. He makes me laugh smartgirl - 2008-03-14 16:50:00 |
| makereal, all you beanies are up there they look so good. We are doing well towards the target of 250. teabag said it was at 86 and march is only half way. Hope we can get to the 100. Maybe wishfull thinking. I have my hair done and it I wasnt wheezing I would feel like a new woman. smartgirl - 2008-03-14 17:26:00 |
| Hi smartgirl What about trying to get him to see a counsellor. When I used to work I was amazed at the number of young male clients I saw. Things that appear to be minor probelms to us can be major probelms to them. Perception of things can sometimes be distorted. Once we could identify the probelms and work on some solutions the difference in their behaviour was overwhelming. When they realize they can work things out with help from someone they trust their personal growth starts to develop. We will reach our target with our beanies. Positive thinking girl all the way. makerealbany - 2008-03-14 18:50:00 |
| Thanks makereal the doctor has put him on some medication to get us through the next 3 weeks till I get back and when we go back to see her that is the next step. She thought we should take it one step at a time. He had just started seeing one in whangarei. smartgirl - 2008-03-15 09:04:00 |
| Hi grizzly How are you and how is the weekend going? Pretty quiet here, had visitors today and just maxing out now and sorting out my next project. Woolwise I mean!!!! makerealbany - 2008-03-15 18:13:00 |
| I can't believe how similar we are despite our differences!!! grizzly4 - 2008-03-16 09:40:00 |
| I am feeling great today, I went with my neighbour to a spiritualist church service this morning and the medium said that I was to go on holiday and leave my problems behind me and to have a great time. I could not believe it as she only did about half a dozen readings and to pick me. I think I did need to hear that from someone other than my friends. Well I am going that is if my passport does finally turn up. I will have to ring them on Monday after the mail has been. smartgirl - 2008-03-16 13:18:00 |
| It's amazing the messages we receive when we care to listen sometimes even without the assistance of a medium. Your passport will turn up if you are going to OZ! grizzly4 - 2008-03-17 08:10:00 |
| grizzly, i just rang them and they say they sent me a letter but i have not received it. I have now had to pay $150 extra to hopefully make sure I get it. Who knows. I am now waiting for a phone call from them. I am also waiting for a call from the school so I can enroll L so he can start after Easter. What dramas, will it ever end. smartgirl - 2008-03-17 10:39:00 |
| Some things are never easy! I am being naughty.... just had the internet comnnected to this computer at work. Had to make sure it's working, eh? grizzly4 - 2008-03-17 15:05:00 |
| Hi girls Yep you are right grizzly somethings are never easy. Poor smartgirl what a worry. All that extra money too!!!! Took baby to an Osteopath today because of her difficult birth she favours one side. Apparently her little torso is slightly twisted. You don't notice it looking at her because she is so bonny. He said it will take about 3 sessions to get her straight. She turns her head to one side only because the other side is stiff. She was a little treasure there and just cooed and kicked. I feel really tired today. Knitted master 4 a yellow Balaclava last night. It sure is bright but that is what he chose. Ha ha. It was hard work knitting yellow in the heat last night. Starting a mohair jersey tonight. makerealbany - 2008-03-17 19:03:00 |
| Having a wee run of sales on TM so busy doing bootees and beanies and things again. Nice & easy 'cos I know those patterns off by heart. Thank goodness your gorgeous baby will all fixed after only 3 visits. I bet you are relieved, makerealbany. Can work from home this morning as my supervision clients have started up again for the year so it doesn't seem such a rush. grizzly4 - 2008-03-18 08:50:00 |
| That is great grizzly Just peeked at your auctions. Those baby socks are really cute. Did you make those with 4 needles? I have the sock wool and still haven't tackled the sox yet. Ha ha. Knitting some hats for my great nieces and nephews. Got the patterns out for the jersey than spoke to one of my sisters( I am the only one who knits out of 5 girls) so I have about 4 to do for one family. Hope my other sisters don't find out!!!! also need to knit a nice shawl for my baby sister who is going into Hospital soon. M is cooing away in her cot whilst her Mum has gone off to mentor the guy who is doing her job. He has to take care of her staff and all the marketing projects and she does feel sorry for him. ha ha makerealbany - 2008-03-18 10:13:00 |
| I am so mean He is a lovely guy though and she promised she would help out. We get visits from her staff, her ex staff and numerous friends. They always bring lunch or afternoon tea as well as heaps of other goodies for A and M. They are so spoilt. I cannot believe what they bring. When I think back to my lonely days in Australia with my babies in the middle of nowhere, etc, etc. Ah well glad she does not have to endure that. Would not wish it on any one. Okay M is now exercizing her tonsils so I had better move. ha ha. makerealbany - 2008-03-18 10:20:00 |
| The sox are on 2 needles, I hate knitting on 4 or circulars. It sounds like your daughter is well supported at work. I think my daughter's experience is going to be quite different. They are not very supportive of her now let alone once she leaves work! Real Estate people may be dynamic go-getters but her company is not a very people oriented place. grizzly4 - 2008-03-18 18:21:00 |
| I need that sox pattern grizzly What book is it in?. Know what you mean about Real Estate Companies. Worked for one for 4 years and had a car accident which put me off work for a year. Initial flowers and then when are you coming back to work? No support whatsoever. In fact my boss did not think I was hurt that badly after the accident until I passed out in his office whilst trying to tell him of my pending courtcases caseload. I HAD A GOOD LAUGH IN THE HOSPITAL WHEN THE RECEPTIONIST TOLD ME HE RAN SCREAMING TO HER FOR HELP. Those were the days!!!! Ha ha. makerealbany - 2008-03-18 22:42:00 |
| sounds like a great pattern grizzly I tried doing a 4 needle one but got the heel wrong. Heres hoping, my passport should arrive tomorrow with a day to spare, I have a tracking number so I will chase it up first thing. That is after we have been to Cambridge for a school appointment at 8.30. We will have to leave at 7.30 to get across to town first. We are short of one route at the moment due to road works plus hamilton looks like a race track at the moment gearing up for the v8s smartgirl - 2008-03-18 23:12:00 |
| Goodness, makerealbany that's a big jump from real estate to counselling!!! grizzly4 - 2008-03-19 08:53:00 |
| Hi smartgirl You will make it girl. Don't panic and have an awesome holiday. makerealbany - 2008-03-19 11:32:00 |
| Hi grizzly Yes I went to university when I was 50 to do my degree and from there got into Social Services. I could write a book on the employment I have had. Ha ha. makerealbany - 2008-03-19 11:36:00 |
| My passport arrived at 11 am this morning i can now start to relax and pack my bags. We enrolled at school this morning and brought the new uniform so he is all ready to go as well. Touch wood he is starting to sound a little more positive about everything smartgirl - 2008-03-19 14:56:00 |
| Have a good trip, smartgirl!!! Good on you, makeralbany. My sister did the same thing a few years back. She stepped out of big corporate position and studied full time to get her counselling degree. Blew me away 'cos up till then we had very little in common. grizzly4 - 2008-03-20 09:04:00 |
| I studied full time whilst my daughter studied fulltime for her midwifery degree and we lived together on the farm so we shared looking after the children, housework, etc. We had to work out our timetables to suit the children. It was hard work but we both graduated. I swear we could have passed each others papers because we studied together and tested each other. It worked out very well. Up at Orewa came up to go to gym with T. We had to do miss 12 yearold's paper run because she has soccer training at 4-30 and gets home too late to do it. makerealbany - 2008-03-20 15:15:00 |
| Knitted a Fairisle pattern for a beanie last night It is a very old pattern. Went to K Mart yesterday and got 5prs of three quarter pants for myself for $10. They had a red light special. Normal price was $29-90 a pr. I got 2 denim prs and 3 good dress prs so was really chuffed. A got baby 5 little tops for next summer for $5. Then we slurged on lunch. Ha ha. Heat pump guys were there at 7 this morning. Baby's room is at the other end of the house from the fire so she will be warm this winter. It was pretty cool last winter and I had the dehumidifier going all the time. Garden is dry again so watered late last night. Tomatoes still producing. Family day tommorow. makerealbany - 2008-03-20 15:26:00 |
| wow makereal, you certainly got the bargains I am off to bed for a couple of hours having just repacked my bag. will try and catch up while I am away. smartgirl - 2008-03-21 00:16:00 |
| Busy day yesterday hubby's birthday as well as Easter so had family dinner. Very tired today but not sure if everyone will turn up here again today to do the Mall thing. Why they can't spend a weekend without shopping is beyond me. Hubby is just as bad!!! grizzly4 - 2008-03-22 10:16:00 |
| Hope everyone's enjoying their Easter! Quite day planned today after all the family stuff. grizzly4 - 2008-03-24 10:18:00 |
| Thought we were having a quiet day at home but daughter says" Come on Mum we are off at visiting and shopping". So off we went. First to my Son's and then to the Mall. Got home about 3-30 did 3 loads of washing, scrubbed out the recycling bin, weeded a garden, cut back the Geraniums, cleared out a tomato patch, cleaned the car, hoovered my cottage, swept out the dog run, fed the dogs, just had tea and I will throw the dishes in the dishwasher and put my feet up. So much for a lazy day. ha ha. makerealbany - 2008-03-24 19:20:00 |
| We went looking at houses... Decided to see what else is out there if the landlord puts the rent up. Found on very similar to the house we had to leave this time last year because of the landlords marriage bust up. I was so upset about leaving that house and this one never really suited my need for indoor/outdoor living. Will make a decision today about the one we saw last night but having said that current landlord rang this morning and I told him we would not be renewing the lease! Have to move by 28/4 now!!! grizzly4 - 2008-03-25 09:16:00 |
| Hell it never rains but it pours I am sure you will get another house grizzly but time pressure sucks. Houses are expensive to rent up here but with the property sales slowing maybe that will help the rental prices. This area is still selling houses really quickly had 4 on the main road sold within 3 weeks all up around 750,000. The rents are like 400 per week for a 2 bedroom. Yuk. I could not afford to rent at those prices. It is disgusting. Well going to the gym. Christmas cheer and now easter eggs still sitting on my hips. Sigh. Then have to call in to a shop which is having a great sale. Spyed all weather jackets for 2 of my grandsons at a throw out price of $5. Normally $60. They are bright yellow, white and black, fully lined, sporty and the boys want them. Sale prices up here are unbelievable because of all the competition and closing down sales. makerealbany - 2008-03-25 10:46:00 |
| Looks like it's all go to move just waiting for the last nod from the new landlord to meet my 'demands'. So far they are putting power through to the garage for my freezer & clothes dryer and allowing me to install a cat door. Pretty amazing for them to accept us with 3 cats (with references) when he is allergic. grizzly4 - 2008-03-26 09:09:00 |
| That is great grizzly There are some nice people out there. I am at my son's while he and S are off on holiday for a few days. Just came into fed his two cats and then off to the Docs for usual 3 months check and medication. Mr put on 600 grammes this past fortnight. Little pudding. Ha ha. Gosh my son has a keyboard with large letters and a big screen on his computer and I want the same. My bent fingers do not get stuck on the keys. This is really awesome. Knitted a hat for myself last night and doing a scarf to match. In Moda Vera Desire which cost me $2 for the two balls. No 7 neddles. This wool has some mohair so it is not too bad really. Not as nice as pure mohair of course. You will be busy packing and I do not envy you that. Havea nice day. makerealbany - 2008-03-26 12:47:00 |
| You move around as much as we do. Only difference you have your own home to always go back to. I reckon we are professional shifters by now!! Silly me but I actually enjoy the packing up, cleaning up process and the excitement of starting fresh. We never move too much out of the area 'cos of our jobs and I hate travelling too far to work. This move is already really different to last time - I'm really looking forward to it. grizzly4 - 2008-03-27 09:20:00 |
| We did get the go ahead so it's all on for ANZAC Weekend! grizzly4 - 2008-03-27 09:21:00 |
| Thats Fantastic grizzly Must admit it is nice to pack up. throw things back to their owners, etc. On the farm I had so much space all of my kids had boxes and furniture stored there. When I sold up I made them collect it all and yet I still find things that don't belong to me. Ha ha I am happy for you. Wonder how smartgirl is. Feeling a bit run down lately but going to Rotorua next week to stay with Mum and then my sick sis. Just feeding my son's cats again. They are really lovely cats but they miss their owners. The cat door has banged 20 times in the last hour I swear. They were rescued as kittens and one of them is very timid around anyone but my son and his lovely partner. Ah well their parents are home tomorrow. makerealbany - 2008-03-27 23:34:00 |
| Yes I wonder how smartgirl is enjoying her holiday, too. Lucky thing! The needles need to be flying when I'm not packing 'cos already the hidden costs of moving are looming. I have to arrange a new cat door and there is only a little bench in my new kitchen so will need a cabinet or similar to put microwave on plus provide an extra cupboard. I have let my stock in the shop slip a little 'cos of daughter's baby's knitting. Not enough hours in the day, I think (again). grizzly4 - 2008-03-28 08:22:00 |
| Yes there are many hidden costs to shifting Minding M R for a couple of hours then off to take my Son grocery shopping and also to check my grandsons uni work. ha ha. You have to keep an eye on their workload because he is inclined to leave stuff until the last minute. He is so lucky having well educated aunts and uncles there is no reason he should not obtain a degree eventually. Had to take him to task over his writting. I could hardly decipher it. I asked him how he passed at high school with such writting. What ever happened to the basic good writting skills? He is a bright boy but? Grandmas are allowed to moan and groan every so often, it clears the head as my gran used to say. makerealbany - 2008-03-28 12:30:00 |
| Baby Shower tomorrow for grandson on the way. Expecting about 30 people in our house for a BBQ!!! The things we do for our kids, eh? Right up there with checking uni work, ha ha.Did a Buy Now for a catdoor for the new house for $23 last night, good score, now to find a glazier for a good price.Off to do salads now. grizzly4 - 2008-03-29 09:52:00 |
| Hope you had a nice baby shower Yep the things we do all right!!! Good buy on the cat door grizzly. I have been pruning a plum tree today. Neighbour came over and did the top of the tree for me, lovely man. Oh Oh S is trying to get through on Skyp or whatever from OVERSEAS. makerealbany - 2008-03-30 20:43:00 |
| Wow that did not take long He wanted to see and hear his little girl before he raced into a meeting. Modern technology is amazing. M R has a bit of a bug we think. She is not her perky little self. Threw up all over her mummy this morning. She was 12 weeks old yesterday. She grabs things now and knows exactly what she wants. Ha ha. Back to the plum trees. I can only do one at a time because it is darn hard work. Do not let S try or he will end up chainsawing the trees to the stumps. It was about 26 degs here today. Worked up a right sweat. Collected a couple of buckets of pinecones to add to the winter stash and dug some compost into the garden. Feeling quite righteous now. Ha ha. Hope we get rain soon. Ground very dry. makerealbany - 2008-03-30 20:59:00 |
| Wonder how Zoe is? What about woolshed and bll. These girls have all deserted us grizzly. makerealbany - 2008-03-30 21:03:00 |
| I know... it's just the 3 of us these days and even smartgirl has had a beeter offer these days!! Hi to all those currently staying up to date with the days of OUR lives but not joining in, ha ha. Baby Shower went well despite all the in-laws not knowing each other very well. Son -in- law and I are real introverts so it was hardest on us but we put in our best effort. Everyone should be happy with how it went. (Or else) grizzly4 - 2008-03-31 08:00:00 |
