| 7909 | Morning ladies, beautiful day here, pity the tide is full at the moment or I would be heading out to the boat to do some more painting, but as I need the tide high when I come back from the boat, I'll go shopping instead I think. I can drag the dinghy down the beach, but I need the tide right in when I come back 'cos I can't drag the dinghy up the beach. Yesterday I weeded our little veg garden, then dug it, fertilised it and watered it, ready for planting - dwarf beans I think. Then I mowed the little lawn, twice, once with the blades set high and then again with them lower. Next time I'll be able to do it with the blades on the lowest setting. Looks so much better now. Then I sat out on the deck and enjoyed the sunshine, a coffee and did some knitting. Went to knit and natter yesterday and was knitting a little basket as an accessory for a rabbit I made a while back. Only 17 stitches and 11 rows, I went wrong twice! First off you cast on leaving a long tail for sewing up, discovered I was using the tail so had to start again. Then I knitted too many rows, but left it, it's just a bit bigger than intended. Needed 3 more baskets for 3 other bunnies, so did them in the afternoon, first one I managed to knit a whole row using the tail. Maybe I need something a bit more challenging so I have to actually think. Will try to buy more coat hangers today when I'm shopping. | 7915 | Morning everyone. Helped a friend yesterday, went with her when she had one of her cats PTS .Same problem that our Bob boy had. A growth in the bowel. I was brave too and cuddled her once she was asleep, which is something I didn't do with bob and Ive always regretted. Did get the blue jacket knitted. Will do the hat this morning. Only takes about an hour I think. Then will sew the sleeve seams, the hat seam and put buttons on. I decided not to strap my hand overnight.. It isn't a good look today, so Ive learnt that lesson . Going to ask the dr on Monday if she can wave a magic wand and make it better hahaha. But Ill plod along. The wool man will be at my friends on Tuesday. Ive decided to get some more of the pretty green. Ill eventually make a blanket of it.. Not that it will suit anything I have but its just such a pretty colour, that I have to have it. Bumped into my ex neighbour and cleaner yesterday. It totally made my day. | 7916 | Morning Marywea - see that you have found the milo, it is a very easy pattern and quite popular at the moment. I have made a lot of them but vary them as think all the garter stitch at the top makes them look a bit top heavy at times and also don't always do the cable along the side. I find the pattern good for using up bits of wool, the one I made yesterday ended up as green and red striped as ran out of green wool - still looks ok and a baby won't mind I'm sure. I've been outside weeding, the showers cleared for a bit and I finished the biggest garden. Now just have one to do between the gates and it's done for a bit. | 7924 | Morning ladies, I've had 3 or 4 nights in a row when I haven't slept well so last night when I was still awake at 3am I took half a sleeping pill, supposed to give me 5 hours sleep, I figured I'd be awake by 8, Mr K brought me a cup of tea at 10.30 and I was still out for the count. Must have needed it. I treated myself to a "lavendar pillow" at Briscoes the other day because as I parked a lady was filling her car with them, she said she buys them every year and they are wonderful at helping you sleep. Can't say it has made any difference to me, nor can I even smell the lavendar. The pillow is comfy though. I finally finished those little baskets for the bunnies. Pic later, and last night I finished the c2c blanket I was doing, only to discover I could have made it bigger as I found (after I'd finished) another ball of yarn at the bottom of my bag. What a twerp. So I'm making pumpkin bootees to go with it. It'll be a charity blanket. No idea what the yarn is but it feels as though it's mainly acrylic. I am still busy a bit at a time, sorting through the mountain of stuff Paul and I brought home off the boat, the pile in the billiard room is slowly going down, but finding places to put everything is proving difficult. I've done heaps of washing of sheets, towels etc. They weren't dirty, just needed to be freshened up before putting them away. I will go through the linen cupboard (which is bursting at the seams) and cull some of the older stuff to use for rags or take to the op shop. I went to the nurse on Friday for a bp check and it's the best it's been in years, (120/75) probably a combination of all the exercise I had working on the boat and the 4kg I lost - well make that 3, 'cos I've put one back on. Miserable day here, blowing a gale, but not raining - so far. I've got one lot of washing on the line (hope it stays there) and another almost ready to put out. Wanted to plant the lettuces I bought last week, but I think they might get blown away. Forgot to say that when I was shopping last week I treated myself to another set of tips and another cable for my interchangeables. Only went in to the shop to buy a zip - $20 odd later. Never mind. I was intrigued though to see they had square needles for sale. Knitpro ones, they are just like ordinary needles but they are square apart from the tip. I asked why on earth you would want to use square needles and was told it is supposed to stop you getting rsi. So something to consider. Right. Washing is ready to face the gale. When I had my mortgage (when I was single) many years ago the interest rate was 14% and years before that when my son had his first mortgage it was 23%. As my son would say "first world problems mum!" Here is a pic of the bunnies with the baskets which I was having so much trouble with last week - I think they are cute. Never liked them and our daughter's MIL can use them in front of the horse paddock (horses don't eat them) so a win-win for both of us. | 7939 | Morning Still wet here, the fellow has been and repaired the badly cracked window despite saying that he wouldn't come if raining. My new neighbour in the back unit was concerned that someone had tried to break in but assured her that the damage had been done from the inside but lovely that she was concerned enough about me to check. Washing done but will go in the garage when I get organised. Then off to make pet litter, someone in Australia was interested in a container load of the stuff we worked it out that at approx. 1,000 litres a month that we make a container would take us 30 months! Think at this stage we will continue to supply the local catteries and local orders but nice to know that there is a commercial interest in it. BiL is more interested in the R & D aspect of producing the stuff as long as we cover costs. Happily continuing with the sleeves of little cardy. Like you Kiwimade I don't like bits hanging around so think I will try a memory blanket to use up the scraps not big enough for other things, but may end up being a 10 stitch instead.
