Evening ladies, well the big green beastie is back on her mooring, and Paul and I are very relieved to be free of work on her for the time being - I will have to go out to her every couple of weeks and work on her until we find a buyer. Meantime, tomorrow I plan to go to knitting for the first time in weeks. Might even stay for lunch. Hope everyone is well and enjoying their knitting. kuaka - 2015-09-08 20:27:00
morning ladies :) Awesome news about the boat kuaka, I bet you are relieved. As for the buttons carole lol, guess it's murphy's law. I finished the yellow thing last night, just have a couple of ends to darn in. It's bigger than I though lol, oh well, better a bit too bog than two small. I'll take a pic later. It crocheted up very fast and made a nice change from the knitting needles. Happy knitting :) kiwimade64 - 2015-09-09 08:00:00
Morning everyone All went well at the super clinic. Have increased my insulin. The dr there said my GP was just being super careful. but he was really good. Answered our questions. And the best part he agreed with me, that I need to look after my INR first diabetes second. So I took the higher dose last night and my after dinner test was back in the 8's again yay. My thumb is not as bad today. But Im not rushing back to knitting. Im going to play with some ice block sticks today. once Ive been up to buy some lol. Ohh Kuaka soo pleased you have got the boat back on the water. and do enjoy your knitting group today. Our lawn mowing man is missing in action. No one home so we have figured it must be a family thing they have all gone away for.. Hopefully not a funeral. Have a fab day all popeye333 - 2015-09-09 08:56:00
the wool cost me $10 the button $14 how is that. will sew them on tomorrow. been sewing all day and now I am buggered carolev - 2015-09-09 18:51:00
Morning What a relief Kuaka to have the boat back in the water. Buttons annoy me Carole I never seem to have what I need and don't like having to match them and don't start me on the cost of the things haha. Thrown a stack of veges and things into a soup stock I boiled up last evening and its simmering away already. Have visitor tomorrow so housework this am as need to go out later. Started knitting a different top down vest, it is very easy but not sure how it will look but interesting doing a different pattern. Happy knitting all Edited by jayemtoo at 8:13 am, Thu 10 Sep jayemtoo - 2015-09-10 08:12:00
Morning ladies, that's ridiculous Carolev - they must be really nice buttons??? I enjoyed my session at knitting yesterday and stayed on for a yummy lunch - can't afford to do that every week like some of the ladies, but I did enjoy it and it made a change. When I got there one of my friends jumped up, rushed over and gave me a big hug and nearly knocked me off my feet. It's so nice to have good friends. Well today I have to take Paul to the airport, yesterday instead of relaxing he was busy all day. He fitted smoke alarms in the kitchen/dining/family area, the lounge and each of the bedrooms, then we moved a fridge/freezer from downstairs to the kitchen, and then moved the one which was in the kitchen downstairs. The one now in the kitchen is bigger and more user-friendly as the fridge is on top and the shelves are adjustable. I will clean the other one and sell it as soon as I've emptied the little freezer. Then he tidied up outside and put an old exercycle into the safari so I can take it to the tip, then he fitted our new firebricks in the woodfire. That was a job and a half. I had invited a young friend round for tea (he helped us with the boat the first day we hauled out, and he shovelled all the mussels and barrowed them to the trailer). We stayed up very late and had a lovely evening. Paul and Mr K even had two frames of snooker before tea. My jug has just died. Got up this morning to find Mr K looking at a puddle of water on the bench and wondering where it came from. The jug is leaking like a sieve. This is the third one I've had of this particular style (it's a Breville) the first one just died, so I bought another, hadn't had it long and it started to leak and the place I'd bought it from had closed down so I phoned Breville and they sent a replacement. It was only leaking little bits, this thing is leaking where you flip the switch to turn it on, and it's just pouring out. So curses I had to boil water in a saucepan for our cuppa. I'll get one in Kerikeri when I'm over there this afternoon. There's nowhere here to buy one. The weather is miserable today, woke to the sound of heavy rain. Hope it isn't raining when Paul has to board in Kerikeri as he has to walk across the tarmac and climb up the steps onto the little plane. He'll get soaked if it's chucking it down. I shall take my knitting with me and sit and do some while we wait for the plane. Have a super day everyone. kuaka - 2015-09-10 08:15:00

Morning everyone.. Ive been up the road early as we have to get a warrant today. Himself was having a hissy when I got home from grocery shopping, cos he likes the car to be there early in the day. I pointed out again that I couldn't take it down till after lunch. He carried on moaning so I rang them to see if I could get it in any earlier but they are flat out. So hes calmed down now. Silly b*gger lol I painted ice block sticks yesterday.. enjoyed it actually.. Ill do more this afternoon. They don't take long to dry. My thumb is easing now thank goodness. but I wont knit yet. Have a fab day everyone popeye333 - 2015-09-10 10:39:00

Ohh Will go back to fb in a bit sunflower. Im not sure if Im allowed to use arnica grant151. Im on warfarin. But I will find out. Although I think I did ask once , but cant remember. I now have my wrist back in its brace, the tendons are hurting.. Ok lol lifting in then groceries.. lol Not. Yayay the garage just brought our car back.. it passed the warrant.. Yippee. popeye333 - 2015-09-10 17:01:00
evening ladies :) I've had two breville kettles kuaka and each one has leaked. I ended up in Hastings yesterday afternoon lol. Daughter phoned and said she was going to look at a rescue dog so I offered to go with her. Four hours each way for me - she drove one way and I drove home, yes, with the dog. Such a cutie and super friendly. Teaching today and again tomorrow so no knitting done today. I must post the pic of the yellow c2c thing I finished. Will do that when I have the time. Hope everyone has squeaked in some crafting time today :) kiwimade64 - 2015-09-10 17:05:00
I did, I knitted while waiting at the airport with Paul, stayed until he boarded his plane, and as I left the building in tears, a woman standing outside said to the chap with her "see I'm not the only one in tears!" Went to the supermarket and bought (amongst other things) fish for tea, but I was starving so also bought a sausage roll, but I felt sick all afternoon so I didn't have any tea. Not sure if the sausage roll has upset me, or whether I'm just an emotional wreck. I was planning to go to Noel Leeming for a new kettle, but as I came out of the supermarket, the heavens opened and then I remembered there's a Briscoes at Kerikeri (and Noel Leeming is another few kms further out of town) so I ended up with a Zip kettle, $39.99 reduced from $119.99. It works but it does sound a bit like a jumbo jet taking off, whereas the other one was quiet. Four hours each way to get a dog eh? I remember when my sister wanted a Basset Hound, and the only one we could find was about 6 hours drive away, so my first husband and my brother-in-law and I drove to get it. We must have been mad. Have a good evening everyone. (well done on the WOF popeye) kuaka - 2015-09-10 18:22:00
morning ladies :) lol kuaka, yes it was pure madness but sooooo worth it. Daughter has posted pics on FB and here's the dog on the couch with son-in-law - and this is after the big speech, she's not going to be allowed on the furniture... lmaoo... I did laugh and said 'tui ad! yeah right!' But she has settled in very well and has been following our grandy around most of the day. So all good. Back in the classroom today, hopefully it will be fine enough for the kids to get outside at lunchtime. They really need that time to run around and burn off energy. Happy knitting :) kiwimade64 - 2015-09-11 07:23:00

Sunny with a light wind here today. Starting the count down for when DH gets back from England. sunflowers28 - 2015-09-11 09:02:00
Morning ladies, very late this morning, I've only just struggled out of bed - Mr K brought me a cup of tea in bed for a change. I feel very lethargic. I plan to take the recyclables to the tip this morning along with an ancient exercycle, and then start the job of sorting through the mountain of "stuff" we brought home from the boat. That is going to take a while. Some of it will go to the op p, some to the linen cupboard (if I can find room), some we will try to sell and then I will let Mr K deal with all the proper "boat" bits. Other than that, I plan on having a day of just pottering around. I might put clean sheets on the bed and do some washing, but it's blowing a gale so I might need super strength pegs to keep the washing on the line. Tonight I will cook the fish and chips that I didn't cook last night. Happy knitting everyone. kuaka - 2015-09-11 09:07:00
Morning everyone Kuaka I hope you are feeling heaps better today. you will miss your right hand man. Lol Kiwimade re the dog. We went to Rotorua once to get a boy Foxy and came home with the only girl they had.. Missy we called her lol.. she was adorable. And the only pup in the litter with a dark roof of her mouth. Which my stepfather had told us was a sign of good breeding. I miss having dogs. but we only have a tiny yard here. Have to go out in this crappy weather to pay for the warrant.. so since we will already be out in it we might go to the oppy they have a sale on. Try and have a good day everyone... stay warm and dry popeye333 - 2015-09-11 09:15:00
Morning Have friend staying, we trained together many years ago and she has lived in England since, we last saw each other 36 years ago so you can imagine all the chatter going on. Started a simple little top so I can chat and knit at the same time. Off out later to do a bit of sight seeing. jayemtoo - 2015-09-12 07:26:00
morning ladies :) Lovely to have an old friend visit jayemtoo, so many memories to share. Housework today, maybe out in the garden and them back to our grandy's jumper. Still not happy with it but it will do for out on the farm. She has outgrown the red jersey I knitted her earlier in the winter. Can't believe how much she has grown :) Looks like I need to buy a washing machine sooner rather than later, it sounds like an airplane taking off lol. Oh well, it is 10 years old and has done some pretty big loads over the years. happy knitting :) kiwimade64 - 2015-09-12 08:01:00
my c2c blanket, I extended it to make it rectangular. https://trademe.tmcdn.co.nz/photoserver/full/409935905.jpg The room desperately needs a makeover so am thinking soft grey walls with double the grey colour on the doors, white trim and yellow accessories. Will think about the curtains, maybe something with a splash of yellow. kiwimade64 - 2015-09-12 08:14:00
Morning ladies, the blanket looks lovely kiwimade, and I love the duvet cover! I really enjoy doing the c2c blankets, tried to start a fourth one last night and couldn't remember how to start it, will have to find the pattern today. I didn't do anything exciting yesterday, did some washing, clean sheets on the bed (didn't wash them), took the recyclables and an old exercycle to the tip, discovered the old Safari was almost out of diesel, so went and filled it and then went to Countdown to get the few bits I didn't get at New World on Thursday, then I came home and relaxed for a couple of hours. What a treat. Fell asleep watching tv last night and still managed to sleep all night. No plans for today. Think I might strip Pauls bed, do some washing and then more relaxing. I have to plan to go out to the boat when the conditions and the tide are right, so I'm steeling myself for that little exercise. Hope Mr K doesn't try to insist on coming too as I don't want him to see what a rough job we did on the green paint. Have a super day everyone. kuaka - 2015-09-12 08:37:00
Morning everyone. Jayemtoo how lovely to be seeing a friend after 36 years. And I bet it was just like you had seen each other a few days before. Love friends like that. My longest friendship is 45 years, not bad considering Im only 50 lol. I had a totally lazy day yesterday. Went to the Oppy spend the grand sum of $1-50 on four books and 2 bra extenders lol.. They have a half price sale on at the mo. My wrist is still achy but my thumb is ok now so Ill try and get this last stocking done later. Lovely and sunny here... Missy has found a sunny spot on the floor. Still a lot of wind tho. Kiwimade I love the blanket. Im soo wanting to crochet a c2c blanket. It will have to be a very long term blanket. I will Google the pattern later and see if its in my crochet abilities. I think I want to use that pretty green wool I got last month in a blanket with lemon and white... So Ill have to start saving up some wool first lol. Have a fab day all.. My housework is waiting till MrP gets up. lol Edited by popeye333 at 9:07 am, Sat 12 Sep popeye333 - 2015-09-12 09:06:00
Popeye, if you can do a chain, and a treble you can do a corner to corner blanket, but until you get going with the pattern it can be a bit confusing the first time, you have to "flip" the work rather than turn it. The pattern is free on ravelry, there's heaps of them. Edited by kuaka at 9:21 am, Sat 12 Sep kuaka - 2015-09-12 09:20:00
yep, it's easy peasy to crochet, you shouldn't have any problems popeye. Thank you for the kind words and the duvet belonged to my sister who was going to donate it to charity. I said to her charity begins at home lol. I love it too and it will go perfectly with the plans I have for the room. kiwimade64 - 2015-09-12 09:30:00

morning ladies :) ooohhhhh carole, a new baby! How exciting for your family :) Finished the front of the jumper I started knitting, disliking it more and more lol. Will be pleased to finish it. Car washing day today if the weather holds. Dad is bringing his car out as well so I have two to clean. happy knitting :) kiwimade64 - 2015-09-13 07:43:00
Morning all The blanket looks great Kiwimade - that didn't seem to take you long to make. Had a lovely day yesterday despite a very cold wind we went sight seeing but not much walking as just too cold. A lot of talking though with such a lot to catch up on. It is really funny what we remember it seems that we both remember different aspects of events. Having a relaxed start to the day and will go out for brunch later. Neither of us are really brunch out types so in other words it is justification for being lazy and not getting up so will have an earlyish lunch out when going to see more sights. I'm going to take her to Wellington tomorrow which is her next place to visit her family. We will go via Masterton as that is where we lived and did our training many moons ago. No doubt it will bring back a lot more memories and reminiscing. In between times have managed a bit of knitting. jayemtoo - 2015-09-13 08:28:00
Morning everyone. And since I have put that up. Would you make that in blue and put on a boy or do you think its too pretty for a boy? I managed some knitting yesterday. So will get this stocking finished then Im going to try that set. Its pretty and simple too. Might do a couple of sets for my stall. Have to pop up to the supermarket this morning. Then coming home to cut MrP's hair. His hair grows soo fast. Mine is too at the mo. Its just over half way down my back. I've trimmed it 2-3 times in the last 4 years. So its grown from very short to long quite well. I want it down to my butt. lol. Have an awesome day everyone popeye333 - 2015-09-13 09:41:00
jayemtoo, I trained in Whangarei at a time when it was compulsory to live in and the bonds formed are indeed enduring. The new baby will be a great interest Carole-do they live close enough to see regularly. marywea - 2015-09-13 10:29:00

Afternoon ladies, congratulations carolev, a new grandie, how super. I've had a nice "relaxing" day so far - well I tackled a mountain of ironing and did most of it, before I ran out of puff, and this afternoon I decided to retreat to the sewing room to have a bit of a tidy up and noticed the bag which needs finishing and which carolev kindly embroidered me a lovely owl for the main pocket. So I attached the pocket and then put the zip in the top of one of the halves of the bag - only to discover when I went to join the two halves together, that I'd already put the zip in the other half, so now I have two halves of a bag with a zip in each half. Bugger! Oh well, I'll just have to unpick one, I'll unpick the least neat one, except I thought I'd made a pretty neat job of both of them when I looked. What a Wally! So, I'd better get unpicking. This bag has been a wip for far too long. Hope everyone is having a good day. Edited by kuaka at 3:46 pm, Sun 13 Sep kuaka - 2015-09-13 15:45:00
well knitting flat out to get baby some small jackets done this baby is going to be a adopted baby. lovely sunny day here so got washing on. carolev - 2015-09-14 07:37:00
morning ladies :) Oh that is extra special carole, there are very few babies up for adoption now, I bet your daughter was super excited (Mum always said she was when she got the news about me lol). A baby is special regardless but I think this is more so (not biased here at all lol). I finished a sleeve to the jersey yesterday, one more to go. Won't take long to finish now. Popeye, that is a very pretty prem set in your link, I would knit it for a boy, colour can change the look quite a bit. Happy knitting :) Edited by kiwimade64 at 7:45 am, Mon 14 Sep kiwimade64 - 2015-09-14 07:44:00
Morning everyone. Foggy here today. not cold tho. Ive finished knitting the stocking. Will sew it up later today. After Ive cut MrPs hair. He put it off till today lol Then I will start that set... soo tiny that it is lol... I have some pretty blues so I think if its an easy knit I might make a few sets for the stall. Have an awesome day everyone popeye333 - 2015-09-14 08:02:00

They are so cute ... Hope when you have your sale of work someone will buy them off you. Want to see lots and lots of photos of your stall with Snow and her dwarves as the centre piece. sunflowers28 - 2015-09-14 22:21:00
morning ladies :) lol popeye, you forget don't you just how small premmies are. No knitting for me yesterday, for some reason I was really tired so blobbed a bit after mowing the lawns. Today I'll be weeding, spring has sprung! Then knitting later today/evening :) Happy knitting :) kiwimade64 - 2015-09-15 07:37:00
Morning ladies, well yesterday I realised that last Thursday was our wedding anniversary, although neither of us can remember how many years, but we're thinking it's 19. (and men usually get the blame for forgetting anniversaries!) Spent quite a lot of time yesterday doing washing from the pile of stuff which was brought home off the boat - not that any of it was dirty, but it's mostly bed linen and towels that have sat out there for two or three years, so thought I'd best freshen it up before putting it away. Managed to unpick one of the zips on the bag and then join the two pieces together by inserting the other half of the zip, next have to start binding (which I hate) so left it for another day. Did some knitting (another coat hanger) so now have quite a few to sew on, and then one day I will go through my wardrobe and sort out clothes I no longer want and start using my flash new coat hangers. Also did some more on my c2c blanket. Might do some weeding this morning before my afternoon out. Happy knitting everyone. kuaka - 2015-09-15 08:38:00
Morning everyone You sure do forget Kiwimade.. Im doing the Yoke now.. Only have about 9 rows and its finished lol.. I hadn't realise that the fronts and back are done in one piece and you pop the sleeves in before starting the yoke. But I should have known, the Pattern is one of Mariannas, the lady that designed the top down dresses.. So very little sewing. Will just be the ends and the sleeve seams. I will take plenty of photos of the stall.. Ill probably have a layout session on the table at home first. Then Ill know how I want it to be. I've grown to like the padded coat hangers too Kuaka. I will add some to my wardrobe at some stage. I've got 49 for the stall lol The satin I got to make into wee dresses is still sitting in the bag. I cant see it getting done.. I shouldn't have got it.. Its going to be a right pest to cut lol. Off to the med centre today for my check in with a nurse. Its a free thing, so I can jump on their scales. Have my bp done and have a chat.. Ill order my script too. And phone in for MrP's. Gloomy grey today. After a beautiful day yesterday. Have a good day all... And can someone grab the few weeds that are in our front garden for me .. TA lol popeye333 - 2015-09-15 09:07:00
Thanks Popeye, they are great and bigger than I had imagined. Each one is a toy in its own right. Lot of work there. My girls think covered hangers are"naf" but I love them and keep for my better clothes, esp. tops with wide necks. Another thread mentioned armchair caddies-they might be good for your stall-might look on Pintrest for my own use.-just thought that a cheap oven cloth with one end cut off and a weight sewn in might be a quick and easy option though on the small side. I ramble!!! marywea - 2015-09-15 10:33:00
Morning All The day was absolutely beautiful all the way so the drive was so picturesque as well. It will be a day to remember is many ways. Left her in Wellington and was back home by 7.30pm which although quite a lot of driving it just didn't seem a tiring day. Made the body part of a baby's jacket over the weekend while talking so time not wasted knitting wise. jayemtoo - 2015-09-15 11:35:00
Yes I love her patterns , for that very reason Jayemtoo. Although I have never minded sewing things up. When you do toys with 70 plus pieces to them, you have to like sewing lol. Hadnt thought about Chair caddies... might look into that. Ive finished the tiny we jacket... Ohh have to put buttons on. Have done about 5 rows on the hat, so will start the pattern part after being on here. I think Ill do a few sets cos as MrP said they could fit a doll too. So should sell. All went well at the med centre.. Have lost 5 kilos now. YAYAY.. And will see the dr on Monday to ask about coming off depo, and hopefully to be put on the list for a hysterectomy.. I don't need my bits any more. And I shudder to think what periods will be like on warfarin lol. Right a play on here and then back to my needles popeye333 - 2015-09-15 13:20:00
