I reckon you can never have too much wool either

#Post

Morning everyone.

Wow Kuaka, what a mammoth job... It looks heaps better than it did. How long does it take for so much stuff to row on it? The green is very dark eh.. Take your time and yes no work on Tuesday.
MrP is back to his I might as well overdose moods again.. Im still ignoring it. Hes in bed this morning. The only part on his body that still works are his ears. so I wont do anything while he is trying to sleep.

Im taking my time with this Mauve top down. and enjoying knitting it, rather than trying to pump out as much as I can. If I have enough wool Ill make a new born size too.
And since the sparkles look so good I might do a red and a green one as I have some with sparkles.

I have a hankering to crochet, but Im not going to risk it.

My new phone arrived yesterday and Ive never known one to be so easy to use. Its massive lol.. a 5 inch screen. so now I can go on the net if I want to. And Ive changed the font size so I don't struggle reading it. Ive ordered a gel case for it, cos its very smooth and I don't want to drop it. and I tried it in my leather purse my BIL carved for me and thankfully it fits in there too.
I thought there may have been a frost but its clouded over.

Have a good day all

Well the rain has stopped so I will get ready and go to the boat later, no hurry, I estimate it will take me probably about 3 hours to finish the antifouling. It's four years popeye since it was last done, should be done every 12 months, but we had a diver in and cleaned it all off just before Mr K broke his neck, so that's basically 18 months worth.

What sort of a phone did you get popeye? and what sort of plan are you on? I'm considering getting a smart phone but I'm not sure I can justify the outlay or the cost of "running it".

Good Morning. It's sunny and warm here this morning. Did a trip to our Local Farmers Market this morning and purchased some more herbs

I got a Sony xperia Kuaka. Its a huge 5 inch screen which I love. And mine is White Was $199 and does everything the flash ones do. I put it on my phone bill and they have 12 or 24 month interest free terms if you have your plan on account. So not prepaid.
I got the onebill plan, which isn't on their website. But its only $19 a month. so Im only paying $27.50ish a month.
It comes with 100 free minutes a month (they have a special on for unlimited calls within NZ so Im going to see if I qualify. That ends at the end of the month. Unlimited texts within NZ and 500mb of data.

I plan on using my own Wi-Fi for data when Im home. I have to say its the easiest phone Ive ever had to figure out. the previous one it took me a few months to learn how to answer it when it rang lol. Ive brought a gel case off here, just to add extra grip. And it still fits in the wallet my BIL made for me

nice popeye, I have a 'cheapie' smart phone too and it does everything a smart phone should. I read somewhere when you do your banking, you shouldn't use public Wi-Fi, use your own data 'just in case'. Mines pre-paid and I'm on a $19 a month plan.

Morning ladies, I've just re-read what I wrote yesterday, just shows how tired I am. The stripe between the green and the anti-fouling is the masking tape, which wasn't on when we painted the green, so we had to guess where the join would be. We didn't take the green down far enough in a lot of places so yesterday I was trying to touch it up after I did the last side with the second coat of anti-fouling. Course I no sooner started that and it rained so I abandoned ship!

Hope to finish that today, but I've woken up with a sore throat, hope it's just stress and tiredness not the bot.

Managed to do some crochet last night but kept nodding off.

Have a super day everyone.

morning ladies :) you will be tired kuaka, maybe a few days for rest and recovery will do the trick.

I started my crochet this weekend, unpicked it three times (see sunflower lol, I do it too!) before I settled on what I'm doing now. It's just a no brainer, simple stitch and will be striped with two shades of grey and the yellow (gold?). It's going to take a heap of wool, you forget how much more wool you need for crochet. Still, it will/should look good in the bedroom once I get the room done.

happy knitting

7759

kiwimade, don't worry, we all unpick at times, sometimes I just rip it all out and do something completely different with the wool.

As for a few days off, yes, that would be nice, but it costs us $30 a day all the time the boat is out of the water, so having days off is a bit of a luxury I can't afford, the $$$$ soon mount up. We'll be up for hundreds, if not over $1000 by the time I've finished. Sooner we find a buyer the better as far as I'm concerned. Then when I've done this one, there is the little fishing launch "Kuaka" to think about - she's in a worse state than the yacht.

Oh well, worse things happen at sea!

Morning everyone.
Not in the best of moods. My new phone was a lemon. and after spending 2.5 hours on the phone with telecom Im not further ahead. It will go on the internet but suddenly stopped service phone wise.
so along with getting annoyed with spark I had the bitchy one complaining in the back ground.
I woken up in not much a better mood and Im very sore today.. and I will be ringing telecom again.

I did get some knitting done last night tho. Doing the skirt part of the dress so didn't need to think about it much.

Have a good day everyone.. Wish me luck

Good Morning. It must be something in air that we are unpicking our work. My Girl Friend came over and she had unpicked her knitting as well.
It a lovely sunny day here in Napier. Off back outside as there heaps to do in the gardens once I have my coffee.

Afternoon
Oh dear Popeye hope you get the phone sorted ok. I have a very unsmart phone which I don't use much except when I go away. Niece has said I can have her old iPhone as she has a new one - will wait and see how I get on with that.

Yes it must be unpicking weather, I'm using up wool left over from the scarf to make a beanie and thought of doing a lacy pattern on it but ended up pulling it undone and making it plain after all, let the wool speak for itself!

One slipper to go so must get onto that today so can felt them this week if weather stays ok, they take about a week to dry.

jayemtoo - 2015-08-23 13:21:00
7763

morning ladies :) I'm in two minds about this crochet, it is going to use lots of wool. Usually I wouldn't mind if it was a stash buster but I'm having to buy it this time and it is going to be very very expensive. Just can't justify the cost. So.... might unpick and perhaps knit it. Will either find a pattern or make a pattern up. And I'm not sure about the yellow/gold... it's quite a 'brassy' colour. It won't be wasted if I don't use it as it will make a lovely jumper for our grandy. I'll have a wee think about it today.

I'm meeting a friend for coffee this morning, we have some catching up to do.

happy knitting :)

morning girls fog here but sun's trying to come though. not the best today might go back to bed for a hour see if that helps.

7765

Morning ladies, well I was so tired yesterday I was showered and in bed at 8pm (for a night owl, that's like the middle of the day), but even though I went out like a light, I woke again at 10.30. Turned over, slept again till 2.30, went back to sleep and slept till 6, so I must have needed some extra zzzzzs.

It was freezing while I was working outside on the boat yesterday. It took me and hour and a half to go round the waterline with a 1/2 inch brush
g up the green where we'd missed it. Then I went inside and tidied up a bit, put a coat of stain on the "wetwind" signs, but didn't like it so rubbed it off again. I'll have another go today.

She is starting to look better, but today I'm back to chiselling rot out of the deck. I really don't mind doing all this work, I just don't like having to do it day after day as each day costs money, so there's no let up.

Might do a bit of crochet before I go, almost finished my c2c blanket, hope i have enough yarn left to do an edge, but might fail at yardage chicken.

Have a good day everyone.

Morning everyone.

Looking good Kuaka... A massive job but it will be well worth it when done eh.

Well Ive got my new phone all packed and ready to return when they send me a courier bag.. What a wipeout of a weekend that was.

Today is simple housework and Ill finish the top down dress.

yesterday I finally sorted my Breakfast nook out. Moved my microwave so I could have all the coffee stuff together etc.. well minus the coffee maker cos that wont fit. Im pleased with how it turned out

Hopefully you will find the right wool and pattern to suit your spare room Kiwimade..

well I've unpicked what I have crocheted and will use the wool to knit our grandy a jumper. MrK is laughing saying he knew this would happen lol, he knows me so well.

Boat's looking good kuaka!

Got the bill for the washing machine and the repairer has only charged us half of the travel time as he had another person to see in the area. Very honest of him, he could have charged us the full amount and we would never have known and done the same for the other customer. AND there is a note on the invoice saying if we buy our new machine from them, they will credit us with this invoice amount ($75.90). Very cool, one of the best things living in a small community :)

morning ladies :) Yep, bucketing down here too and looks set in for the day. A good day for crafting :P

I started knitting a jumper for our grandy last evening, easy-peasy pattern so no thinking involved, just knitting. I wanted something simple to do for a change. It looks like it will be too big for her but maybe next winter. The gold doesn't look quite so bad knitted as a jumper. Maybe it was a matter of picking the right thing for the colour.

Happy knitting :)

Morning
Not raining as yet but looks like it is thinking about it.
The Coffee station looks lovely Popeye - red my favourite colour.

Great when you get a good trade Kiwimade.

Sewing up slippers now so hope the weather does as it says it will for rest of the week and perhaps can then felt them tomorrow. Have a large mens pair which I made last batch but they look too big still so will see if they will felt some more when I do this lot, not sure if there is a limit to how much wool will shrink.

Sister showed me a jigsaw game on the iPad so I wasted quite a bit of time yesterday on it, now I have done it I think the novelty will wear off so get back to the knitting haha.

Morning everyone.

Carole MrP is still in bed.. Ive disturbed him enough to do his insulin but hes gone back to sleep lol

Isnt it funny about choosing the right thing for the colour of the yarn.

I hunted for buttons for the mauve top down dress. And have three choices. but I want to do a new born one in the same colour so have to decide which gets what.

Ive decided next time I want to knit something requiring buttons. Ill chose the buttons then match the yarn to it lol.

I didn't do any knitting last night. Missy plopped herself on my knee and wouldn't let me get up lol

Off to a friends house later. The Wool man is meant to be there again today so time will tell. Will be a guilt free shop too cos I sold some patchwork pieces and will use that.
Although I will save $10 of it to get the new Daffodil day bear who is Charlotte this year.. (Im guessing after wills and Kates baby).

HAve a good day everyone.

And Kuaka if I have it correct Happy Birthday? Hope you have a day to relax today

Morning ladies - just, according my computer it's 11.59 as I type this. Yes popeye, it's "my" day today, and I'm not working on the wretched boat today, and I don't feel guilty as it's raining. Perfect. She's out of the cradle and tied up against the floating pontoon, but sadly she suffered a couple of wounds in the process, wounds which I haven't told Mr K about, he would just fly off the handle and it doesn't fix it. Mr Boatyard owner said he will fix it, as he was moving the boat at the time it happened.

I plan to go to my usual mah jong session this afternoon, so looking forward to that, and I was planning to get Chinese takeaways for tea, but the price put me off, so I've got a chicken ready in an oven bag, and I will get Mr K to put that in the oven, I've peeled the spuds and he can put them in the electric frying pan and tea will be well under way when I get home.

St Johns was here this morning and have installed an alarm for Mr K so next time he has one of his "heart attacks" while I'm out he can use the alarm, instead of telling me about it when I get home. Most times it's just indigestion I think. There is a good chance though that he will fall and hurt himself so I think the alarm is a good idea.

Better go and have my shower and some lunch.

Might even do some knitting tonight. Have a super day everyone.

happy birthday kuaka :) I'm with sunflower about your MrK putting the chook and vegies on lol. I hope you have had a fab day today. Dad has a blooper thingy and it does the same thing as the St John alarm.. Brilliant, and saves us a lot of worry.

I'm about halfway up the back of this wee jumper, knitting a size 4 as our grandy is quite tall and wears lots of layers. Would rather it was a bit big for her and fit comfortably over singlet, skivvy and so on. Bright goldy-yellow so she won't be hard to miss lol.

I've finished the back to the jumper, not overly enthused about it but it will do as a 'playcentre' jumper. It's a 4 x 4 rib so easy to do.

Morning
Hope you had a lovely birthday Kuaka, and really made it your day.

Nice day here, hope it lasts as have to go out this am but would like to felt this pm - have 2 pairs to sew up first so may be tomorrow.

Started a Cardy yesterday in some machine washable merino I brought from skeinz last month and it is so lovely to knit with. It is a thinish DK so using size smaller needles than pattern says but doing a size larger so hope it fits. At least having quite a few kids I knit for if it doesn't fit the intended one there will be someone else it will fit.

Have a great day

Morning ladies, cold here this morning too, I miss my firelighter (Paul) who returns on Tuesday, but we're not sure how long for. Only briefly I think. He has been such a huge help, I can't believe it.

So yesterday morning I was altering an evening dress for a lady I know and then spent all afternoon with a hammer and chisel, chipping rot out of the deck. What a contrast. It was a fabulous day yesterday, very warm working on the boat. Now that the grubby stuff is done, I actually don't mind working on the boat, what I do mind is the pressure to go there every day, day after day, because of the cost involved - we can't afford to have it sitting there and not be working on it, and at the moment I'm the total sum of the workforce.

I have been taking advantage of vodafone's special offers on my pre-pay phone. I've had 80 mins of calling for 95c, 120 mins for $3 etc. Made the mistake last night of taking advantage of 80 mins for 95c when I still had some minutes left from the previous special. Those minutes expired last night, so I should have used them up first, because after topping up with the next special and then making a couple of calls, the calls used up the new minutes and the old ones expired. Grrrr! Won't make that mistake again.

Right, have to see why my fire isn't going. My gran used to say a bad-tempered woman couldn't light a fire, I think it's more like if the fire won't go, it makes you bad-tempered.

Have a super day everyone.

Morning everyone

A beautiful day out there..

We are off to Pukekohe today.. Just need to get out and MrP wants Maccas, and they have $5 meals at the mo.

Im going to buy a bit of young girlee material to make some wee dresses. A friend gave me a really easy pattern, well the instructions no actual pattern lol.. so Ill make a few of them for the stall.

Will have a look at the two Oppys we haven't been too.. St Johns and Spca.

Have a good day everyone

Morning
Sunny but not very warm - I think it is only going to 14o today.

Felted the slippers yesterday so now hope the weather holds so they dry, have found that putting them on the window sill works best as that seems to be the warmest place and gets sun all day in the lounge.

Your stall will be so interesting Popeye, you are getting a good variety of goods.

Agree Kuaka it is the fire that makes one bad-tempered. I often wonder how house fires ever occur as fires are so hard to get going when you want them to.

Off to town when organised and to library, seem to have the reading bug at the moment - I am knitting a very straight forward cardy so can read at the same time and not much on TV.

Happy day all

morning ladies :) Back into the classroom for me today, so no knitting until this evening.

Thank goodness the power cut was yesterday, was a gorgeous spring day and today looks like it is going to rain. Luckily no one was hurt in the car accident that took out the power pole. But it did force a truck carrying a house to do a U-turn into our road and take out our phone and internet. Oh well, not a biggie in the scheme of things.

The Fluffy One is staying with us again until Monday, maybe Tuesday. Will be her last 'holiday' with us for a while as Dad is coming home from Brisbane this weekend and he will be on 'dog duty'. Both dogs are racing round madly now so they will be tuckered out by the evening.

Happy knitting :)

Morning ladies, yesterday I started the repairs where I've chipped out the rot on the deck, first sealing all the wounds with 3 coats of "everdure" which is a two pot mix which preserves the wood, then filling the wounds with two pot epoxy resin and chopped stranded matting. Didn't get it finished and was/am hoping to today but I'm still in bed and feel lousy, awful cough for a couple of days, now a runny nose too. Might go back to sleep for a while and see how I feel later.

Have a good day in the classroom kiwi made.

Have fun at school Kiwimade... The two dogs might drive MrK potty lol.
Kuaka I hope you start feeling better soon...

Ive been up the road already to sort out yesterdays mucked up shopping.. And got the potatoes I walked straight past lol.

Have a date with my sewing machine when I get off here.

We had a lovely time in Pukekohe. I had my first and last maccas burger lol.. Ill stick to Georgie pies when we go there lol... Ended up getting satin for some pretty dresses.. and I think I already know its not going to be easy cutting it out.

Morning everyone.
Have a safe trip Kiwimade.. not soo far to go now. Yummm cheese muffins lol.
A very quiet day here today, I have a rotten headache.. If I had a chainsaw id go across the road and cut the massive Wattle tree that is flowering big time down. Even my antihistamines are struggling..

I started knitting a Christmas stocking last night.. Will do a few for my stall. Something different. But I have red and green sparkly wool and a real pure white for the tops. Will also do the rugby boot version but I have to ask in one of the Waiuku groups what colour the top of our rugby socks is. Our colours here are a bright lime green and red.

I might brave a call to spark to see whats happening with my phone.

I got one of the last hogget roasts out today, to cook tomorrow for our anniversary.. I don't think its going to fit in the large crockpot lol.. We will see if its squishable once its defrosted or Ill have to use the frying pan lol

Have a fab day everyone

Hope you are feeling better again Kuaka, you don't need a cold on top of all the painting.
Enjoy your visit Kiwimade.
Into soup making at the moment, I really like to have a bit in the freezer at this time of year in case I need a quick meal (or just can't be bothered to cook haha). Beautiful day so into garden and then for a walk so can justify sitting down later with the knitting.

Have a good day

Morning ladies, I'm still in bed and feeling lousy, so staying put today. I got up for breakfast, weather is very overcast and not very warm so came back to bed. Presented Mr K with the account for the haul out and hard stand yesterday ($1095) and he thought it was reasonable but half an hour later he decided it was too much as he said the boat had only been out 16 days. Er well, no. I showed him the pic of the mussels on her bum dated 6th August, so once he realised he was wrong and the argument was going against him, he stomped off to bed!

I'm fed up with his pathetic antics.

I had planned to go to the boat today if the weather was nice even if only to bring some more stuff home but a day away won't hurt me. Might get up later and do some washing then knit. Finished my c2c blanket last night with 6 metres of yarn to spare. Just have a couple of ends to darn in.

Have a safe trip kiwimade and enjoy the cuddles, the knitting will keep.

Have a fab day everyone

I think you should stay put too Kuaka.

Ohh grumpy men are the pits eh.. Glad you have the date set on your camera, he cant argue with that.

I must have a look at these corner to corner blankets.. I could make one a very long tern project only crocheting a wee bit each day.

I haven't got to my knitting as yet. but will a bit later once my friend has visited. Ive got some shaping to do so want to do it without being interrupted.

Headache isn't much better but at least Im not feeling crook with it now.

morning ladies :) We had a very enjoyable day yesterday but no cuddles sadly as our grandy was out of sorts and just wanted mum. I think she is still getting used to the idea nana and poppa can visit her at home. I shouldn't laugh (but we all did lol), one of our daughter's cats was scratching a post and her nose hit the electric fence. Let's just say she won't do that again in a hurry! And yes, she is OK.

Daughter showed me her Tunisian crochet yesterday, this is something I will definitely have to have a go at soon. Looks lovely! Managed to knit last night, bit tricky though with the Furry and Fluffy Ones wanting my attention lol.

men eh kuaka, funny creatures!

It's raining today so perfect for crafting, housework first though I think.

Morning everyone.
I can tell you that the weather 24 years ago in Hamilton was fine.. Until1pm then it hosed down lol.. We got married and then had a picnic at the lake. Had just got back into the cars and it absolutely bucketed down lol

Ohh not good re no cuddles.. still plenty of time to get lots more.. Ohh dear re the cat,, your right, she wont want to mess with those again lol.

Im doing the white fold over at the top of the stocking. Looks nice with the sparkles.. I just wish you could take decent photos that show the sparkle lol.

MrP is still in bed, didn't get much sleep... so Darn it (LOL) that means I cant vacuum.. what a bother lol.

Deboned a shoulder of hogget this morning, wasn't a hope in heck of getting that sucker in the crockpot.. Hadn't done a shoulder complete with the joint in it too. Was fun.. I then rolled and folded everything together and got it in the pot. Im cooking the bone for MrP.. he's a real puppy when it comes to bones. Then my friends JR can have the bone when he's finished with it. lol

Right a play on here then Ill knit quietly

Have a fab day everyone

Morning ladies, I'm still feeling lousy, horrible cough and throat still sore, but at least my nose is behaving normally at the moment but another day in bed, or maybe sitting up later. It's raining so I don't feel guilty not working on the boat. Hope I'm better by Tuesday as I have to pick Paul up from the airport.

I managed to do a couple of rounds on my möbius cowl in bed last night, but then I couldn't be bothered so put it down. Couldn't read as the kindle was flat so that's charged now so I can read if I feel like it.

Hope everyone else is well. Pity about the cuddles kiwimade - never mind, nothing beats mums cuddles when you're sick.

Have a super day everyone
