Morning,
It has been rather wet overnight but clearing now. Not sure what I would prefer a cold wet day so can stay inside and just blob out with my book and knitting or the day improve (which it looks like doing) so can get the trip to the dump, which badly needs doing, over and done with. Will wait and see as still in bed having coffee so no hurry for either lol.

Now knitting little Jersey - it was going to be for 4 year old but turning out rather a lot smaller than anticipated so can go to her 2 yr old cousin, may need to go to Skeinz for more wool - oh dear what a tragedy - not!!

Have a happy knitting day

morning ladies :) Another wet day here by the looks of it. lol jayemtoo...life can be just soooo tough at times!

Will get the ironing done today, won't take long to do. Am sick of the pile in the laundry. And I'll sort out cleaning stuff to take with me to daughter's tomorrow, she'll have her own but you never know what you will need. Will make sure my karcher is charged and have plenty of the cleaning liquid for the windows.

Gotta love these wet days, between my e-book and crafting I'm a happy camper!

Happy knitting :)

Good news was Id lost 2.5 kilos in 2 weeks, goodness knows how lol.. Well its the insulin, but Im happy with that. BP etc perfect once again.

Am halfway down the skirt of the 9-12 month old top down dress. Still not sure if I like it or not.. But Ill finish it anyway.

A lady on FB went to spotlight yesterday and got 70 balls of wool all $1 a ball... now that's Dedication lol. Saved $419. She does blankets so will be using it all.

Right better get sorted, hate being up the road all day and gotta do bloods too

morning ladies :) I'm off to Taumarunui this morning - a two hour drive - to help our daughter with the house clean. Have everything organised including a car full of banana boxes I raided from the supermarket yesterday. So no knitting for me today but I will have lots of cuddles from our grandy. I'll gladly swap knitting for cuddles any day.

happy knitting :)

Morning
Safe travels Kiwimade and totally agree cuddles beat knitting any day.

Didn't get to dump yesterday but did get 3 more buckets of garden stuff to take so that is top of list for today. Then couple of other messages before hopefully get a bit of knitting time but will "wait and see".

Have a good day

Morning everyone.

Be careful on the roads Kiwimade.. And I too would swap cuddles for needles.

Have finished the top down don't in the magic wool.. I love the colours etc but prefer the back of the dress to the front.

Am sewing today Yayay... once I get off here.

Looks like a bleak kind of day. Ill knit later. Need to do some more coat hangers, especially the flurry ones. I like making those tho, to see something go from a naked state to pretty is very satisfying.

Have a good day all.

morning all, had a very busy day yesterday but got done all I wanted/needed too. Was cold and wet, not the best days for trying to load furniture into a truck. But a lot of cleaning got done and one load taken to the new house. Certainly makes it easier to work without furniture!

So today is my housework day and if the weather clears up I'll get outside for a bit. Have some camellias I want to prune back. Any excuse to use my new secateurs lol.

Later I should be able to get some crafting done but first the Furry One is bugging me to play with him. He missed out yesterday and I'm paying for it today.

Happy knitting :)

Morning all

Another lovely day and not particularly cold, despite being told that it was going to be cold and wet this weekend - not complaining.

Doesn't it give you a good feeling Kiwimade cleaning out each room of an empty house - when doing nieces place a couple of weeks ago I got quite possessive of each room and wouldn't let anyone go back in once I had finished it.

Have to feed sister's cat this am so am going to try busing over and walking back, it is about 6kms and have done it many times but not lately as my exercise has dropped off quite a bit so as it is so nice outside I feel that I really must get back into doing more walking again. Just hope my back agrees with the rest of me lol.

Then will be good excuse to put up feet for a bit and get some knitting (and reading) done.

Have a good day all

Morning everyone.. As I type the sun is streaming in the dining room. It was very glum about 30 mins ago. Windy here. I imagine its cold out there.

Glad you had a productive time at your Daughters Kiwimade.. I like emptying houses and making sure they are clean for the next person. Every house we have moved from I always leave toilet paper and a note saying when Rubbish and recycle is and any quirks there might be in the house lol.

6kms is beyond me Jayemtoo.. My back really would hate me lol

I cut out 6 bags last night. well two were just the bag part as I had the end of a piece of calico. So Ill cut the straps and decoration out this morning and go spend time with my sewing machines again..

MrP is in a misery mood so he can stay in bed and sulk. Doesn't earn attention by being a misery guts.

Have an awesome day everyone.

popeye333 - 2015-08-08 09:36:00
7666

morning ladies :) How did the walk go jayemtoo? And yes lol, you do get possessive when you are cleaning out a house! Daughter wanted to use my karcher lol so I 'let' her use it for a bit, now she wants one of her own lol. Told her she would love it.

I did some more knitting last night, over halfway now and getting quite heavy on the needles. I'm becoming more familiar with the pattern so no more unpicking thank goodness.

We (using the 'royal' we here lol) have decided the first bedroom I redo is going to be in soft greys and yellow and the trim all white. So I will be starting to look for accessories with the 'right' yellow. You don't realise how many shades of a colour there are until you go looking. But part of the fun is in the finding :)

Hope everyone has managed to get some crafting done.

Happy knitting :)

Morning everyone.
Lol re your Karcher Kiwimade.. Ive only come across one lady who didn't like hers, but she wasn't using it properly so hopefully all is well now. Saw them advertised for $117 I think it was at Bunnings.

I am getting there on the 6 bags I cut out on Friday night. Am to the point of attaching handles and joining the fronts to the backs. Im thinking I might do a French seam around it.. Will have to have a play with a scarp tho, to remind myself how to do them. lol
Am 2/3rds up on the third coat hanger cover so will finish that after lunch and put those together too. A productive week.

One thing I did learn in the sewing factories is the number of different shades of colours. Before I worked there, Black was Black.. but there's soo many shades of it.
Even in my red and white kitchen it has to be the "Right" red lol. Love the sounds of the greys and yellow Kiwimade.

Right a quick squiz on here and then back to my machine..

Have an awesome day everyone

Afternoon
It has turned very cold here, feels like the snow is quite close, lit the fire after lunch.

Yesterday's walk didn't turn out quite as planned as the wind was a lot colder than I had anticipated so caught the bus part of the way home, it still gave me quite a good walk as it is about 1km across the park to get the bus and another couple at the other end, mostly uphill, and of course that is repeated on the way home. Will need to rug up very warm and get out soon.

Must admit am enjoying knitting beside the fire and it's raining again so will just wait and see lol.

Evening ladies, well I've had four days of hard hard slog, working on the boat on the hardstand. To say I'm knackered is a huge understatement, and there is no end in sight yet. We are still scraping, scrubbing and tomorrow we start sanding for a change, then when that's all done, we can start painting! Yippee. Then we have to decide whether to sell or keep, Paul is quite keen on keeping her so we can at least go sailing when he's here. Course at the end of the day it will depend on whether we can get any interest in her. I'm not prepared to "give" her away. Meantime, the knitting and crochet is on hold.

Hope everyone is having more fun than I am.

morning ladies :) A short distance is better than nothing jayemtoo, at least you could walk some of the way. Sounds like a huge job kuaka, am glad you have someone to help you. I was pretty tired after all the painting I had to do but found I became 'match fit' as time went by. Hopefully that will happen to you too.

Did some more knitting last evening, am happy with progress so far but need to buy more wool.

happy knitting :)

Morning
What a job Kuaka, can imagine how tired you get but it's a healthy tiredness.
Man it's cold here and as you probably have worked out I don't "do" cold lol. will have to get active today to keep warm, the garage badly needs a sort out so that should keep me going for a while.

Knitting the third item in the same wool but fortunately it is lovely to knit with and hopefully this time it will be the right size, at least even if turns out different size to that intended there is always someone who would appreciate a knitted top.

Keep warm everyone

7673

Morning everyone.

Wow Kuaka Im glad you have Paul there to help you.. I hope MrK is helping by getting tea cooked maybe?

Jayemtoo Your better than I am, I don't do walking lol... Only time I walk any distance is when we have dogs to walk. And we don't now.

I counted up yesterday , Ive done 110 items in 3 months for my stall. And still a lot of things I want to do.. doing coat hangers at the mo. I realised I only have 10 left so am doing the Christmas ones, then some soft pastels and a couple more flurry ones.

Ive also decided on a new decorative design for some more bags.

Its proving to MrP (if nothing else) that all the fabric and buttons etc etc that I have brought over the years is coming in very handy. I haven't had to buy a heck of a lot.

Have booked MrP for the hair cutting chair at 10-30am. We have always made Appointments for hair cutting. That way neither of us get out of it lol.

Washing can go in the dryer, it shouldn't be too far from done.

Have a Fab day everyone

Yes jayemtoo it is cold here in Bay this morning. I know popeye knits and sews toys, bags and baby wear came across this trader with knitting and sewing pattern you may like to check out. I feel they are a bit pricey.. Try Grandma3. Kuaka I have a good idea what it like cleaning boats. We had 4 working fishing boats in Oz. I was always in overalls when motors needed working on.At present not doing a lot of craft work as I am waiting on a major op on my shoulder. Weaving a baby's blanket at present. Enjoy your day ladies..

sunflowers28 - 2015-08-10 10:32:00
7675

Ohh Sunflower, weaving is something I would love to do. I don't have the room for a loom, not even a small one.

Id also like to learn flax weaving too one day. I should ask at the Marae if anyone would consider having classes.

I need to make some time for me to learn new things lol.. One day.

I put the garment rack together this morning so have the top down dresses and bags hanging on it.. to keep them from creasing.. Looks good lol.

Will look at grandma3's patterns etc... Thanks

A play on here and then back to my needles..

I've banned Mr K from the kitchen basically as twice I've come home and he's cooked an enormous pot of "broccoli soup", cooked to within an inch of it's life, it's revolting, and such a waste. Maybe tomorrow I'll get him to cook corned beef, he can usually do that without damage.

morning all. sad few days for me as a very dear friend of 44 years passed away suddenly yesterday, I just can't believe she's gone and she was younger than me too, finished my chiefs jumper wail waiting at the hospital went to sew it up and the jar with the needles was missing so job for today. we have a frost but house nice and warm

7678

morning ladies :) So sorry to hear about your friend carole, 44 years is a very long time and I'm sure you will miss her terribly.

OMG kuaka, I'd ban MrK as well, *blurk* but he really can't go too wrong with corned beef. We haven't had that for ages!

I'm meeting up with a friend I haven't seen for a very long time today so looking forward to that. Then the dentist to have my teeth cleaned. I don't think I will be knitting or crafting until this evening.

Happy knitting :)

Morning everyone.. Sorry to hear of your friend Carole.. Lets hope she is in a kinda place without suffering. I have a friend of 46 years.. we met just before our 5th birthdays before we started school. don't talk often but when we do its like we were only talking a couple of days ago

Lol Kuaka.. sounds like our guys are twins. You want to see the mess MrP makes with fried mashed tatty. Its usually black cos elements only have one speed with him.. Full bore lol We haven't had corned beef for ages either. Its really expensive now.

Im baking this morning. MrP is in bed still but have warned him Ill be using the cake mixer.

Three coat hangers finished yesterday. And Ive resorted to asking in the groups Im in on FB for hangers lol I see no sense in having lots of lace sitting not being used. And Im not into lace flowers or dolly Varden bed dolls lol.
A frost here too the car is white instead of blue.

I see the wattle trees over the road are flowering.. Thank goodness for antihistamines

Right a play on here and to the kitchen.. At least it will be warm out there lol

Have a good day everyone

Morning
Sorry Carole about your friend, always sad when a longtime friend leaves us.

Love broccoli so would be very upset if cooked to "soup" I remember how we used to have very well cooked cabbage as kids, now just steam it and another favourite for me. Hope the corned beef turns out better than the broccoli.

been out this am and off out again when off here, then again at tea time so a busier day for me and little knitting will get done, not to worry it will be waiting for me when I can get back to it.

Why not contact the local Creative Fibre Club in your area Popeye. Some of the clubs have looms you can use at the club or loan then out. Most now do Spinning,Weaving,Knitting,felt-
ing wet and needle felting, dyeing yarn and fibre.Hold classes and work days. Creative Fibre are holding their 2016 Creative Fibre Festival in your area. Check them out onFB or their website.
Will you be able to put a picture up of your covered coat hangers or point me to web sites for ideas Have a heap of wooden coat hangers and very soon have to stop weaving and knitting because of pain in my shoulder. This will be something I could do and take with me when going to knitting/craft group. Be a good way to use my fabric pieces up.

Checked out our Local Yarn Store yesterday new yarns and colours. Was very good and came away with one more ball of wool as I would like to add fingerless gloves to go with a hat and scarf I am knitting.

morning ladies :) Another frosty start but going to be a lovely day. Once the frost lifts I'll get the lawn mowed and I have a couple of things to do in town. Was lovely to catch up with a friend yesterday, so much has happened to us both over the last few years so lots of chatting.

That's a good idea sunflowers, might even do that here in the Waikato.

No knitting for me last night, put it in the too hard basket as I had a very snuggly Furry One cuddling up to me. I should get some done today. One and a half repeats to go and the edging.

happy knitting :)

Morning ladies, sorry to hear about your friend carolev - always hard to cope with.

A lovely white frost here this morning. Paul has gone to work already, grumps is still in bed. The corned beef was lovely yesterday but grumps "forgot" to put the potatoes, onions and carrots in the crockpot with it, likewise he "forgot" to have lunch! Not surprising he is losing weight. He didn't have tea either, said he wasn't hungry. I can't force him to eat. I think he has thrown the towel in.

We are making slow progress on the boat, but resigned to the fact that we might as well do it properly, 'cos even if we put it on the market it is possible I will have to do all this work again in a year's time, and if that is the case, it won't be such a big job next year.

Needless to say, no knitting or crocheting for me at the moment.

Hope everyone is well. Have a super day.

kuaka - 2015-08-12 08:27:00
7684

Morning everyone.

I will look into a club type thing next year sunflower.. This year is dedicated to my stall. Theres a few things I want to learn so have to make time for it.
I had wondered if the loom was the cause of your shoulder trouble. And thinking about it my shoulders aren't in great nick either.. lol to the point that I don't bother hanging washing out on lines.

I baked yesterday, and once again enjoyed myself. Although I got MrP to do the heavy mixing.
Sunflower ask to join the New Zealand Knitters and crocheters group on fb and Ill be able to get you a couple of coat hanger patterns. A kind lady sent them to me from there.
I found 3 more yesterday as I remembered I had a box of hangers in the top of the wardrobe so that was good. I will look at the oppy and the recycle centre tomorrow.

Kuaka MrP does the I forgot thing.. Its more like I couldn't be bothered with him. I just ignore it now and carry on. I will say he has been very good this week after yet another blow up on the weekend.

I have to give my vac a spring clean this morning and get the floors done. And of course he is still in bed.

Crafting later when Ive got rid of the dust from the vac. Ill take it outside to do so probably get cold as lol... No frost here tho.

Have a fab day all

popeye333 - 2015-08-12 08:58:00

Morning
A beautiful blue and gold day - can see the snow covered hills in the distance and it is really beautiful outside - haven't been out to check the chill yet but washing nearly ready to hang so will find out soon enough haha.

Gosh that boat is a lot of work Kuaka good that you have Paul to help you with it.

I'm keeping away from the wool shops at the moment as must use some of the wool I brought recently but oh so tempted just to go and see what they have! Think I had better go to the library instead - a lot cheaper visit.

Anyway once washing hung am off to make pet litter again, had a bit of a rush on orders at the weekend so BiL wants to build up stock again so will need to do a few days this week but we have been slack over last couple of weeks. When I say "days" it actually is only a couple of hours as he mixes and I pelletise enough to fill his big dryer oven, have got it down to quite a quick process now - when we started it did take all day to make that amount and we also ended up making such a mess it took us over an hour just to clean up afterwards now no mess so save that time as well. The longest part of the whole process is enjoying the coffee afterwards lol.

Happily plodding along on 4yr olds jersey, the wool is baby DK merino so reasonably fine, but lovely to knit with, and I think the pattern is on the small size as well as doing an 8yr old and it seems about right, the previous one was for 4-6 yr old and came out to fit a small 2 yr old!
Also have had a couple of good books so didn't even watch TV last evening when home from aquarobics just picked up knitting and book and headed for bed - luxury.

Washing machine has gone quiet so better get it hung and off.
Have a great day all.

I read on here that one of you ladies (cant remember which one) has a karcher window cleaner. Are they worth the money - $99 at Bunnings. And are they easy to use. Thank you.

grant151 - 2015-08-12 11:24:00
7688

hi grant, popeye and I both have one and ommggg I think a Karcher window do-dacky is the best gadget ever lol. I whizzed round my daughter's windows over the weekend (they were moving so we gave the house a good going over) and it took next to no time to do. If you buy one, make sure you buy the extension poles so you can reach those windows above the kitchen bench and do the outside windows too. The only thing I have a problem with is it doesn't seem to hold it's charge for long. I have to stop partway round our windows and recharge it, even with turning it off between windows.
edited to add, they are easy peasy to use.

Ohh I didn't know you could get an extension pole.. Would be great for the kitchen window behind the bench.
I turn mine off between windows and haven't flattened it yet.

I love it and you wont regret buying one.. I didn't realise they were on special at Bunnings. I was telling family on Monday that they were $117. But they wont have gone shopping till today Phew lol.

I love instantly dry windows...

popeye333 - 2015-08-12 12:43:00

Thanks for that. Probably wont need an extension as kitchen windows are easy to reach and I have a lady that does the outsides for me - thank goodness, I hate doing windows. I have a birthday coming up next month so maybe if I talk to my kids nicely they could buy me one.

Am very tempted to look at the window cleaner - I wonder if they would they work on windows with a tinted film on them. My windows so need a clean which I am procrastinating over.

Have a good day everyone

morning ladies :) yep popeye, I love the extension pole for the Karcher. No more climbing onto the bench to do the kitchen windows and I can clean the outside windows easily too. The pole is easily adjusted to whatever height I need so no ladders :D

We're dog sitting again this weekend so the Fluffy One is arriving this evening. The Furry One will be a very happy boy.

No knitting for me last night, had a splitting headache. Think I need to up my water intake, I mowed the lawns yesterday and got very hot doing it. Usually I take my water bottle out with me and slurp away lol but didn't yesterday. Lesson learned!

I have a job application to complete today then I'll get a few things done around the house. Might even do some knitting :)

Happy knitting :)

Morning everyone

I might pop into the electrical store and see about getting the pole Kiwimade cos I have to climb on our bench to do the kitchen windows too.. They generally get left and cleaned up when winter finishes. Looks terrible but is such a hassle

Funny you should mention water Kiwimade, Im increasing mine already. I was drinking too much coke so have been drinking more water..

I had a rotter of a headache yesterday too. but was putting it down to the Wattle trees flowering. Still taking antihistamines tho

Finished 4 coat hangers yesterday.. Knitted another and started another. Im going to have plenty. trying to have two of each colour at least and then I could offer a discount for more than one.

Shopping today and I have heaps to do..

Have a fab day everyone

morning ladies :) It's a bit warmer today but we're heading for rain. Would rather have the frost and the nice day!

The Fluffy One didn't stay as my sister's weekend classes were cancelled but they both came for dinner anyway lol. Caught up on news and the two dogs went nuts together.

Housework today for me, need to buy a new kettle using Fly Buy points. Our old one has sprung a leak. I like having a few fly buy points stashed away for this sort of thing.

Knitting or crafting later today. If it's raining I won't feel quite so guilty about being inside.

Happy knitting :)

Morning
Just had courier arrive good job I was awake and dressed. Like you Kiwimade I like having some flybuys but had to use quite a few of mine as running out but not to worry got a couple of birthday presents done.

Felt very good as walked into town yesterday - about 6kms so getting back into my exercise. I prefer walking if actually going somewhere.

Housework today too and then can continue with the knitting.

Have a good day

Morning everyone
A dull gloomy day here too. And I was going to wash the heavy bath mats etc today.. Ohh well they will have to wait.

Otherwise Im all caught up on housework. So a relaxing day.. Only I quite feel like going to Pukekohe for a wander around the Warehouse. Cos they have a wheel chair its one place we can "window" shop and take as long as we like without MrP getting worn out.

I just cashed in my Fly Buys points and got gift cards with them. Handy to have and an easy way of having a few extra dollars for Christmas.

Talking of a new kettle. yesterday I got a briscoes email just before I went offline. I wasn't going to read it but did. And they had red kettles and toasters for $19-99 each. So being that all my kitchen gear is gradually being replaced with red and white, I ordered both. I then saw the kettle in Mitre10 and it was $60 alone. And the toaster is a four slice. never had one of those lol.

And then I sent the email to Paix on here to show her what Id brought cos she knows Im collecting my red and white and further down the email where I hadn't looked was the vac head she needed lol..

Mine was dispatched yesterday so could even be here this afternoon lol.

If we don't go out (And MrP is only just getting up) Ill just be doing some coathangers. I managed to get some more yesterday..Yay.

Have a fab day everyone
