Morning ladies, it's another chilly day, but we kept the fire in overnight again so nice and warm inside. This gum we bought burns much hotter and cleaner than the tea tree, not so much smoke or ash. We'll get more when we get low.

Kiwi made, I think you're either very brave or slightly mad to tackle a project like that throw. I would crochet something that big but not knit it.

Nothing planned for today, had a busy day yesterday, changed the bedding, did washing, vacuuming and washed the floors so maybe a lazy day today, roast lamb for tea, and just relax and do some knitting or crochet, maybe a game of snooker if Paul isn't going out.

Have a super day everyone.

Morning
Looks like another nice day even if a bit on the cool side - can rug up well.

Have Nephew and his family arriving this pm, he is doing a locum at local hospital and family on holiday, have dinner more or less sorted just need to make an apple and feijoa pie later. Then go over and warm up sister's house for them. Guess it will be a busier week with kid orientated activities - they are 6 & 8 so past the baby stage.

Finished nieces slouch beanie yesterday then discovered I had totally misread the pattern but I think she will like it - it is more beanie than slouch!
Now to do a cable one someone has requested.

Well better get going the floors won't sweep themselves unfortunately and they need a sweep, can't work out where all the dust comes from!

Have a great day

Morning everyone... Another cold start.. But its soo beautiful out there. Cant be any wind as nothing is moving.

I also think your brave Kiwimade but what an achievement when you have it finished.

I finished the little pastel coloured top down yesterday and started a new one in the bright wool I got from Whiskey.. Im calling it Stir Fry wool. When Im finished Ill put a pic up. Cos it looks like broccoli, carrots and yellow peppers lol.

Had the weirdest thing happen here last night. The power flickered and then was only like half strength.. The lights were flickering, the phones going on and off, the medical alarm screaming its head off and every time I turned the tv off it turned itself back on.. Thought it was a poltergeist ... But apparently it was all over town.
Was thinking I was going to have to move the massive tv cabinet to try and spread the power leads out a bit. But its ok, thank goodness.

HAve to pop up the road later, when the car thaws out lol... have run out of potatoes and MrP has decided he doesn't want to eat any hot chips, so he can have boiled tatties with fish.. Yuck lol.. and Ill still have my chippies.

Have a good day everyone,.. Stay warm

lol kuaka I'll take slightly mad! Usually I do these bigger projects in pieces but this pattern is an all-in-one. It will be slow going though.

Weird about the power popeye, could be the cold and power being overloaded? For us, that would be a pole fuse blowing on the power line. But the power guys have been really good at maintenance over the summer so no pole fuses so far this winter.

morning ladies :) Another cold morning but stunning day, the last for a while I think.

Managed to do more knitting, I seem to be getting quicker now, must admit the throw is nice and toasty on my knees. I need a new hat so might knit myself a slouch hat. I have a lovely pattern, just want to find the right colour. I suppose by the time I find that it will be spring lol.

Happy knitting :)

Morning
Cold but not too bad - no wind or rain. Getting up energy to hang out first load of washing although don't think it will dry over well.

An advantage of knitting something big Kiwimade. - warm knees!

No idea what we will be doing today something kid oriented no doubt.
At least with them staying elsewhere I get a quiet evening so can recharge energy levels with my knitting lol.

Morning everyone.. Chilly again but not as cold as the last two days.

Ive done two top down dresses since Friday night. Just the new born ones.. tho.. But IM going to take some photos later of what Ive been doing for the last couple of months.
I think Ill do a couple more coat hangers then make a start on the dwarfs.

I used to love doing the blankets for the extra warmth... Funny how we give ourselves some large jobs, cos we like the challenge. Maybe its a Taurus thing Kiwimade, cos Im the same.. and stubborn enough to plough on to get it done..

Stay warm everyone

morning ladies :) A black frost this morning just for a change lol. I have a long list of things to do today so knitting will be on the back foot I suspect.

I think maybe being a Taurus is part of my 'lets get the thing done' attitude popeye as once I start something I'll get it done.

Have to move and get organised for today.

happy knitting :)

Morning
There is a ver white frost out there today, I'm staying put for a while, got out to grab a coffee and now snugly warm back in bed.

Had a lovely day yesterday went to the aquarium and spent ages there, interesting seeing it with a 8 & 6 year old. then to the chocolate factory for a very nice lunch and a look at their museum. Learnt such a lot about chocolate and I don't even really like the stuff!
The kids went back to where they are staying for a bit of a rest then the family came here for dinner. So I got to enjoy their company but also a bit of time to recuperate on my own.

Nephew got off to a good start as locum, he was nearly at the hospital in Hastings yesterday morning to start when he noticed that he was still wearing his slippers so had to go back to Napier to get his shoes. Guess slippers aren't exactly a good look for a consultant Doctor to be wearing around a hospital, I suggested that he just tell them that it is the new fashion in big places like Waikato and little Hawkes Bay were not yet in fashion lol.

We are going to have a bush walk today and to a playground which has things for bigger kids or at least those who go to school. Mr 6 can wear off some of his extra energy.

Not sure when I will fit in the knitting but sure I will get a few rows done at some stage.

Have a happy - and warm day everyone

Morning everyone.. grey clouds here, no frost and not as cold.

MrP has to generally wear only slippers, due to bungled foot surgery. He got married in slippers... so Im sure your nephew would have been fine lol

We are off to Pukekohe today I have a few things I need that I cant get here.
I will also go to the clearance shed, who is meant to have wool, so Ill have a nosey.

I did two coat hanger covers yesterday, in a beautiful aqua colour.. Have put pics on fb of what Ive been doing.

Good morning ladies. Have been up since crack of dawn because I've decided that today is the day (after nearly coming to blows with Mr K a couple of days ago about my need for a "break" and being in "silent mode" yesterday) but when I came home from my usual Tuesday afternoon out he suggested that I should go away for a break! Stepson must have really go through to him that I do need this little break. He also suggested that as well as going to visit my son in Auckland I should go on to Hamilton and stay with my very good friend - I wasn't going to mention that was the plan 'cos I thought he would say it's too far for me to go on my own! So despite the forecast, I'm in the process of packing the car and I'll escape as soon as I've showered and had breakfast (although the forecast looks as though the weather won't be quite so bad as it was forecasting for today a couple of days back).

I've got a supply of knitting and crochet stuff with me, most of which I know I won't even look at but it pays to be prepared eh?

Right, so I shall press on with my preparations, and get away as soon as I can before he changes his mind.

Have a super day everyone. Hope to see you soon carolev!

morning ladies :) wahoooo kuaka, awesome news! Funny how it is 'ok' when our husbands/partners suggest it lol. Have a great time and yep, one can never be too prepared!

Having a giggle about wearing slippers to work. Too funny!

Did a few more rows on the throw, it's getting easier now as it gets longer. The pattern did say to use circular needles as straight needles to take the amount of stitches but I like 'solid' needles that don't bend. Thank goodness I have a long pair of 4mm needles.

happy knitting and safe travels kuaka :)

Morning
Go for it Kuaka!! Have a fantastic break away and don't give the fellows a thought while away just enjoy doing something just for you.

Having a kid free day as they are going to the movies - just hope it is as good as they expect as it has been very much looked forward to. Then they are going to a bike park which i declined with thanks can't see my old bike surviving any jumps and I know my hips certainly wouldn't. Lol

Going out for dinner tonight so don't even have to think about that so am going to have a day of just pottering around and getting the hat I'm doing finished.
We have booked in a visit to Skeinz tomorrow - and the kids can just put up with it - Mum and I just really, really need to go haha.

Have a great day all and safe travels Kuaka.

Morning everyone..

Have an awesome trip Kuaka.. don't ring home for at least a few days. but text stepson to let him know you arrived safely.

Like you Kiwimade, I like rigid needles. And that's what putting me off learning circular needles. but theres soo many patterns done on circulars... So Im torn lol.

Enjoy your dinner out Jayemtoo..

While we were out yesterday we went to MacDonalds... What a mistake that was lol.. never thought about it being busy with kids. Food was hot , but you could barely hear yourself speak.. Note to oneself,, don't go to Maccas in the school holidays lol.

Had a nice time shopping. I got the table for my stall and a double garment rack. The table was nearly half price, which surprised me but made me happy lol. I did get two 400 grm balls of wool. lol

MrP is very down and sore today. he walked a lot yesterday.. And Im headachy and coughing, so I hope we didn't pick up any bugs from the crowded room.

Nurse rang this morning. Time for a smear, I didn't think it was till next year, but since they are offering Ill get that done and out of the way. Ick lol

Not soo cold this morning which is nice

Was given a lot of material last night. A lot Ill be able to make me some camisoles so that was good..

Have a good day all

morning all. hope to see a young lady off here some time today so better clean up my mess

carolev - 2015-07-16 07:24:00
7518

Morning ladies, carolev you don't need to clean up or tidy up on my account believe me, phoned mr k to say I'd arrived safely and he was relieved, said he was cooking tea and that stepson was no help as he was in bed having an afternoon nap (I think his motive is to get mr k off his backside and force him to start doing things again). He also said he'd had no breakfast and no lunch. He was about to have his breakfast when I left, he'd got leftover shepherds pie in the microwave, and there was a big pot of homemade soup in the fridge to reheat, so not sure why he hadn't eaten - maybe he had and he'd forgotten. Anyway he said I sounded more cheerful and was surprised when I said I'd be home on Monday, said he thought I was leaving him for good.

Sons place is in the middle of renovations so is like a building site. So off to Hamilton today, he said to be on the road before 7 or leave it till after 10 unless I want to sit for an hour in traffic, and that's really not my scene, so breakfast, shower, then knit and depart around 10. At least I know my way to the motorway from here, but of course I got lost getting here. Stepson was going to lend me a gps but I said not to bother.

So I'll see you later carolev - won't stay long today but will try and visit with my friend in the next day or so.

Have a super day everyone.

Morning
Yes Popeye good idea to stay away from places like McDs during the holidays.
Enjoy your visit Carole - I hope the young lady is enjoying her break away now she has "escaped" certainly been planning it long enough and deserves it.

Had a lovely relaxing day yesterday, finished the cabled beanie now using up scraps knitting little vests for charity. Taking niece to Skeinz this am have found a lovely pattern for a light scarf so want some soft wool for that. Apart from socks I seldom knit for myself.
Probably won't start today as have the kids all day so mother can do a bit of study even though on holiday!

Looks like being a reasonable day weather wise, not so cold so may even get over to the playground.

morning ladies :) carolev phoned this morning asking if I would like to meet up with her, kuaka and GMS so hopefully tomorrow will be all go. Our daughter and her family arrive tomorrow afternoon for the weekend. Am hoping all their bugs are finished with so a visit with the ladies in the morning will be perfect timing. Don't want to pass on any of their bugs to others.

The Furry One is off to the vet today, he needs his blood test done. This will be fun - not! He will need a muzzle and will hate it but it's the only way we can see how his liver is now he's on medication.

MrK is out helping his mate line a wall today, no doubt there will be a few beers in there somewhere lol.

Happy knitting :)

MrB can do things when he wants too but he lets me wait on him... lazy toad lol

Hope Furry one is a good boy

Shopping this morning and then I have four coathangers to put together.

Not soo cold, but rain is in the air...

The Furry One was just fine, the vet muzzled him at my request. She was firm and patient and even though he growled (lots lol) his protest, she got the blood taken. Will know the results next week :) He is usually a happy dog but does not like blood being taken - when you think about it, who does lol.

Am looking forward to morning tea tomorrow :)

Gosh wish I could be a fly on the wall at the morning tea - guess there will be a lot of natter lol. Do have a great time catching up together.

Practically no knitting yesterday as had 2 kids here all day to keep amused, all good fun and they helped cook dinner, the 8 year old made a fruit sponge virtually on her own I was most impressed she obviously has helped her mum a lot.

They are.going to the pools today but I have politely declined the invite to go too!

Got some lovely light and soft alpaca wool yesterday for my scarf which I hope to start today.

Have a great day

morning ladies :) Morning tea at carolev's this morning. Don't worry about tidying up, we come to see you, not your house. And GMS, would love to see the dolls armin knitted. She's a very talented lady.

Lovely the 8 year old can bake, jayemtoo. Sometimes we underestimate what our kids can do :)

Will finish my coffee, and get cracking. Our daughter and her wee family are visiting this afternoon and staying the weekend and my sister's dog is also going to be staying. So not much knitting for me over then next few days.

Happy knitting.

This will be my last set.. Ive been putting them off, and really don't want to do them. I know Ill do them tho cos I don't like UFO's. But it will be my last set.

Lovely that it was such a good am tea Kiwimade, yes it would be interesting seeing what people from here look like.

Started my scarf yesterday although only 25 stitches every row is pattern so have to concentrate so it will take me ages I think but have a 'no think' bit of knitting on the go as well.

Cool day so will get the house a bit sorted, Nephew is coming to stay tomorrow when has family goes home and Sister will be back to reclaim her place. The kids are going to the BMX park this am.
Hope to have a bit of time to do some of the scarf later. Don't have to cook dinner for them this evening as Nephew said he would do it.

Morning everyone

Sounds like you all had a good time at Caroles... Carole I fancy some bikkies myself at the mo lol

Got the coat hangers finished and knitted an Apricot Jelly Baby.

We are considering going to the Warehouse, we got side tracked the other day and never looked at underwear and I need new winter nighties. My poor old favourite is now 17 years old. Still going strong but I don't know how much longer for lol

My new pots just arrived and Im glad I got a set of three cos the size I wanted was the middle one in this set.. I was thinking it was the largest in this set.

Missy is having fun with the box lol.

Grotty weather here which is the only thing that may put me off lol.

Have a good day everyone

We've had a power cut this afternoon, no biggie, out came the camp cooker to heat up some leftovers for lunch. So while we were sitting around yakking I managed to knit a few rows :)

kiwimade64 - 2015-07-18 15:46:00
7535

Im surprised we have our power. Its wild and wool out there. Thankfully we have a rav4 or we would have only been able to get out one end of our road this morning . A lot of flooding around.

Would anyone here have a basic waistcoat pattern? knitted 8ply preferably in a large size, doesn't have to be anything fancy... I just want and extra layer on my back without the trouble of having sleeves...

No crafting for me today.. Just haven't felt like it really lol

popeye333 - 2015-07-18 18:35:00
7536

Some of Cambridge had a powercut too, I think something happened out Whitehall way.

When I left carolev's yesterday my lefthand mirror caught on her letterbox and took some paint off. The posty was waiting to get too the letterbox but I was in the way.

*popeye, I do have a fairly basic waistcoat pattern but it isn't mine. In fact I have the wool to knit it as well, navy blue. A friend found she didn't have the patience so I said I would finish it but I am struggling to knit dark colours. This pattern had unusual dec, for the armholes and I kept getting confused. Your comment reminded me that I have it stashed away.

Morning
Apart from heavy rain yesterday I think we missed most of the foul weather. Hope the power is back on for everyone it must be hard for those with only power for heating etc.

Nephews family goes home today and he is coming over here to stay for the week although won't see a lot of him as he will be working all day and I'm going to Wellington for a couple of days mid week.

Am about quarter way on the scarf, still not a great fan of doing lace knitting having to concentrate each row.

Nice to see you back Grandmasue - always interesting to hear what others are doing knitting wise.

Happy day all

morning ladies :) it's a very busy household here this morning but will quieten down when everyone goes home and my sister collects her dog. It was a fun day yesterday in spite of the weather and power cut. have some awesome video footage of our grandy playing with the dogs.

It's cold outside but have turned the heatpump off as the sun is streaming into the living room. Won't take long for washing to dry either.

Hopefully this afternoon, once the house is straightened up again, I can get some knitting done.

happy knitting :)

Morning everyone.. Glad to see no one was blown away. What a wild night.!
I managed to find a pattern in the end, deep in a pile of pattern books I had here. Only trouble was Missy was sitting on my knee and wouldn't let me get any wool. So I knitted another lace coat hanger instead lol... Ill get the wool out today tho. will be the same colour as the cardy I knitted earlier in the year. I wonder if I have enough of the same buttons, I know I have a few more.
Have to nip up the road later for some potatoes, forgot them yesterday.. Otherwise it will be a day for Indoors. washing can go in the dryer.

Have a good day everyone

Good evening ladies, well the gypsy is on her way back home, I've had an awesome few days away, seen my son, caught up with old friends, met some awesome new ones, I've had morning tea at Carolev's and met kiwimade (who was nothing like I'd pictured in my head) and grandmasue and then went to my friends place where we had a lovely long soak in a spa pool, then had a nose round the shops, had a sexy new haircut, went to spotlight and didn't buy a thing then went out for tea. Weather was rubbish yesterday so we did nothing till the evening when we went out for tea again, and then left this morning, called in to see my old next door neighbours but nobody home and asked at my old house (which was very overgrown and neglected) and the woman there knew nothing, so I sauntered back to my sons. Going home tomorrow. Apparently it's all good at home and mr k has been helping with the dishes and he's been down to the beach and enjoying the sunshine. I'm obviously too soft on him and do too much. I also have to say a big thank you to Carolev for my beautiful embroidered owl (some 22,000 odd stitches, and it's fascinating to watch) and to her other half for trying to resurrect my dead computer which wasn't successful but for salvaging some old very precious photos, some id forgotten about.

Wish me safe travels tomorrow, should be a better trip home than it was on the way down. Oh, and I forgot to show the ladies my flash new interchangeable needles, which were just sitting in my bag.

I did manage to get some knitting done while I was away, and I hope you've all had an awesome time while I've been awol.

Daughter and her wee family have gone and the house is very quiet. Looks like they are moving closer to us, son-in-law has a new job on a dry stock station near Taupo. An awesome opportunity for them.

Need to vacuum and wash the floor, and go into town today, then I can knit.

Happy knitting :)

Morning
Your holiday sounds great Kuaka, nice and relaxing. Funny how we get mental images of people - which for me are usually nothing like the real thing.

Up earlyish to have coffee with Nephew before he headed off to work so am a bit ahead of myself today. One load of washing out on the line and another nearly ready - all the sheets and towels from Nephew's family who went home yesterday, he is here for this week as well.

Nearly made a baby's top while talking last evening, hope to have a bit of quiet time later to do more on the scarf.

Have a good day all and safe travels Kuaka.

Morning everyone

Soo pleased you have had an awesome time Kuaka.. Ive seen you on FB.. I know what Carole and GMS look like. I am thinking Kiwimade has darkish hair but that's all I have in my mind lol.

The back on my waistcoat is 161 stitches lol... after all the little knitting it feels like Im doing a marathon on each row. But Im making it the biggest I can, I like lose outer clothes and just want the warmth on the back.

MrP wants me to shorten his pants and Ill have to take some off the legs they are huge this morning.. Just how he expects me to do that when hes still in bed is beyond me lol.

I was given a lot of material last week , Im going to make me some singlets, since mine end up in MrP's drawers. He wont pinch these ones as easy tho they will be different colours on the fronts and backs... No one sees them so it wont matter what they look like, so long as they keep my back warm lol.

And yes Kuaka we end up doing too much for our Mr's and they simply stop doing for themselves.

HAve an awesome day everyone.. And be careful on the roads Kuaka

Home safely and enjoyed myself but it's good to be home - accident south of Whangarei on the way home, one south of Warkworth on the way down, certainly makes you drive carefully and be more aware of the idiots on the road, like the ute which couldn't wait for the vehicle which was overtaking the truck in front of me, to pull back into the correct lane, so the ute overtook on the inside and took off like a bat out of hell in pouring rain and he must have been doing 130km.

Skyped Mr K this morning and the first thing he said was "oh you've had a haircut" and I thought he wouldn't notice!

I went to spotlight and didn't buy a thing, went to Arthurs today and only spent $4 on buttons. Must be some sort of record.

Time to put my feet up and relax.

Hope everyone has had an awesome day and has been able to get some knitting done (I haven't done any today - yet).

We have our first daffodil in flower, it's battered by the wind but there! So spring can't be too far away.

Did some more knitting but I've also turned a photo I took of a waxeye into a cross stitch pattern and am having a tutu with that. My hardanger is sitting there needing to be done too. Will get it all done, good things take time.

happy knitting :)

Morning ladies, I slept like a log last night, good to be back in my own bed, not that I had any sleepless nights while I was away, Paul cooked tea last night, fish and chips (I bought the fish on the way home). Mr K had made a big pot of soup for lunch but wouldn't have any till I got home, but I'd had a pie in Whangarei so didn't want any, so Mr K had his lunch around 4pm. There's heaps of soup for lunch today.

I didn't do any knitting yesterday, by the time I'd caught up on all my emails etc and had a couple of phone calls it was bedtime.

Have a dentist appointment this morning (wish me luck - wonder how much that will suck out of my bank account - think of all the yarn I could buy instead), and then my usual Tuesday afternoon out.

Have an awesome day everyone.

Afternoon everyone

Yes Im very late lol

Been a bit rough for the last 24 hours, as things about mrp's surgery etc have hit home..
But Im feeling a lot better now. Ive been talking with the nurse here... Problem shared is a problem halved.

Glad MrK has been good while you have had your wee trip Kuaka.. Its amazing how they cope when they have to. Makes us realise we are doing way too much for them.

Will have a play here then back to my needles
