I reckon you can never have too much wool either

#Post
7451

morning ladies :) I agree with jayemtoo, kuaka, be firm and go! I bet there was a sigh of relief when it fitted jayemtoo :) And nice to have 'orders' too.

The lady in our 'craft' shop was telling me more and more women are buying wool as they are saying there is nothing on TV in the evenings and want something productive to do rather then watch something mundane. So maybe there is a positive spin-off for all this rubbish on the telly.

After several false starts I've started my orange throw. It's all done in one piece so is going to get very heavy on my needles. And 62 rows to the pattern! So a good challenge for me :) I think I'll buy some longer circular needles and use those as straight needles. Might be easier on my hands and wrists.

Happy knitting :)

Morning everyone.
Im with the Others. Kuaka.. Just tell MrK once the visitor arrives. That you are going away for a couple of days, while he has someone to keep him company. Ignore any language that comes from his response. Pack your bag. Give him a kiss and leave.. Don't look back.
Ive had to do it myself, so I do know how hard it is.. usually end up down the road bawling,, but I carry on.

My wrist is sore again, no reason that I can think of.. so just a quiet day here.

Ill knit some napkin ring covers, only 12 stitches and 60 rows, so nothing heavy.

Have a good day all

Morning ladies, well I had a busy day yesterday, got done everything that I planned, vacuuming, beds changed, washing done (didn't get it all dry so some might end up in the dryer today) finished and hung the curtain, then zapped to New World in Keri for some fresh fish for tea and a few other bits then to the airport. Had to wait 15 minutes 'cos I was early, the plane was on time, and it's good to have him here (so far - wonder if I will feel the same in a month's time). He is in full agreement that I should go away for a few days, but I was hoping he would convince Mr K that I need a break, he thinks I should convince him. Oh well, maybe between us we can convince him.

Mr K brought me a cup of tea this morning, first time in ages. Stepson and I sat talking till midnight, then it was about an hour before I dozed off and I was awake again at 3 so feeling a bit knackered this morning. Stepson wants to help me do some work on the boat while he's here with a view to trying to find a buyer for it. Fingers crossed that works out. Finding a buyer will be the hardest part.

So now I have to just sort out the dates with my son and my friend, and I'm gone.

Maybe now I can relax a bit knowing that when I go out there's someone at home to keep his nibbs company and maybe there will be an improvement in Mr K, which is long overdue. I might even get some sewing done, I've got lots of things I want to make/finish, but Mr K complains whenever I go to the sewing room - I think he feels I'm just doing it to "avoid" him, which of course is ridiculous.

Right, time to face the day. Have a good one everybody.

Morning ladies, it has been raining but it's stopped for now, I have just retrieved a very soggy Herald from the driveway, same as yesterday. Grrrr. I will be phoning them about it. Costs me more to dry them out than I pay for them.

You wouldn't believe it but I broke another tooth last night, felt like I had something caught between two teeth and felt it with my fingernail and out popped a piece of tooth, it has had a crack in it for years and none of my dentists have ever thought it worth fixing, well now it's got a piece missing, so I will definitely have to find a dentist. I'm not going back to the one I saw last, he was useless.

Finished my corner to corner blanket last night, apart from the edging and I'm not sure I have enough yarn left to do an edge, but I will try otherwise I will use a contrast. It's not very big, but I guess someone will appreciate it. It'll probably be a charity one.

Stepson went sailing yesterday with a friend, said he had an awesome day, but the firewood that he was going to split, still needs splitting, he says he'll do it today, so we'll see.

Might do the ironing today and some sewing - then again, I might not do the ironing!

Have a super day everyone.

morning ladies. GOOO THE HIGHLANDERS!! If my Crusaders can't be in the final then I'll cheer for the Highlanders. We're off to a BBQ so will take some cheese rolls, South Island style to celebrate they are in the final.

Rained pretty hard here last night but it's not cold and looks like the day will be wet as well. So perfect for the needles. I've started knitting the throw and it takes quite a while to knit a row lol. Still, I'll stick with it. Love the orange, almost a pumpkin orange, so deeper in colour rather than bright.

Happy knitting :)

Morning. Just.. Silly comp is packing a sad in the wet weather lol.

Had a blah day yesterday , but I plodded along. And got two coat hangers made up and four covers knitting for napkin rings.

Popped up the road this morning, to get a couple of things for MrP's hospital bag.. We have decided to take it with us, In case. So that's all sorted. I have his list of prescriptions etc.

Will knit this afternoon, just more napkin rings , Id like to have about 3 dozen for the stall. Ive got 22 at the mo, so getting there.

Then I shall probably start putting the dwarfs together.. I want to knit a couple of snow men, too so will start them next week.. After Ive done the apricot Jelly baby which might be tomorrow. Lol.. I like having lots of choices.

Right time for some lunch and a play on here..

Have a good day all

I always read this thread although I very seldom post anything - I still love knitting and crochet but don't do a lot these days (very painful shoulders and wrists!). Am making a baby dumpling doll at the moment - nearly finished the doll, but I think the clothes will take a while. Will post pic when done.
Popeye333 - I see that you are making stuff for a "fair" later in the year. I wonder if you belong to Craftsy? (free to join) They have quite a few free patterns of small toys that might be suitable for your table. Just a thought. I wish you well with all your endeavours. Hope it turns out great for you.

Morning
Nice to see you on here Tinybaldone. Good on you Kiwimade what a decision what to spend your winnings on and Carolev good idea to keep the mechanics brains warm while fixing your car you may get a better job done that way lol.

Very nice to be home again although enjoyed my trip away and we managed to get quite a bit done. Poor niece is getting rather uptight at times as trying to find a place to live when so far away is not easy, but they have a wee while yet so I'm sure they will find somewhere.

No knitting since last Tuesday so getting withdrawal symptoms!

Have a good day all

Morning ladies, what a miserable day it was yesterday, it rained all day. What a perfect excuse to sit and knit or crochet, so I finished the corner to corner blanket that I started just last Sunday (mind you, it's not very big 2 x 100gm balls) and started another one. This one will be slightly bigger as the 2 x 100gm balls I'm using have more yardage.

Well done on the winnings kiwimade, decisions, decisions. I have to decide whether to grow my hair or have it cut, it's not long enough to tie back, but it's too long to be called short, and is driving me mad. Maybe get it done while I'm away.

I haven't ventured outside yet, it's sunny but windy and I suspect the wind is fairly cool.

Stepson seems to have disappeared, I think he's probably gone for a run. I got up early and made a cup of tea, put some wood on the fire which was still going, and then went back to bed.

Might try to do some sewing today.

Have an awesome day everyone.

morning ladies :) Suns out here too, not too sure how long it is going to last though.

Might get some knitting done today, am going carefully as there are too many stitches to unpick. Love orange and I wonder why I haven't knitted this colour before lol.

Am thinking my winnings can go in the bank for now, will think about what to spend it on.

Happy knitting :)

Morning everyone.
Well done Kiwimade on the winnings... I don't even know who won yet lol.. Mind you Im not interested in rugby.
A quiet day here, I started making up some napkin rings last night, but I haven't crochet the flowers yet. so that's my plan for the day.

MrP is all ready for tomorrow, other than adding his razor to his bag, after Ive given it a good clean.

Have a fab day everyone

Morning
Looks like nice day here. Will walk to Taradale later and get a bit of wool to start the list of things I came back from Wellington with. A milo vest for 2 year old great niece is top of list. Finished bow scarf for sister yesterday so only socks on the needles at the moment.

Hope all goes well with the appointment Popeye.

Morning everyone.. And Thank you for the best wishes.. Its his Birthday today too lol..In one way I hope they do keep him, cos then at least they will do the surgery and he will feel much better. And yes I could have a break. But yeah nice to have him home too.

Im taking my red wool and crochet hook. I have some daisys to make for napkin rings, and I don't need a pattern or row counter for those. lol

Wet here too.. And very quiet too with there being no school traffic.

Am popping into Spotlight... YAYAYAY, so that will be the fun part of the day lol.

Have an awesome day everyone

Afternoon ladies, well my naughty little cat woke me at 4.15 and I couldn't get back to sleep, was almost 7 when I dozed off and didn't wake again till 9, which was a bit of a nuisance as I had to take the car for a WOF this morning. Got 1km down the road, glanced down and noticed the fuel gauge showing empty and the warning light on. It was over half full on Thursday when I went to the airport and since then I've only been to town once which is a round trip of about 3km. So I phoned grumps and he said to go and put some petrol in, course by the time I got to the service station, the fuel gauge was starting to work again. Sounds like we've got gremlins in the gauges. Anyway, then I set off again to get the WOF and was stopped at a road block - police were checking rego and WOFs. I said I'm on my way to get a WOF - it doesn't expire till the 9th. I expect he thought "yeah, they all say that!"

So, home again and I don't feel like doing a thing, so I might not do much. Stepson has been shopping and has bought terakihi for tea - yum!.

Have a super day everyone.

I never though I could have been hurt

Hi all..
Ohh not a great start for the day Kuaka... And yes carole, its amazing what we do without thinking, then realise later it could have gone very badly.

MrPs appointment went well They are again talking about open heart surgery. but they sent him for a lung capacity test, Horrible thigns, while we were there.. now they want a scan of his carotid arteries and then they will decide. Good news was his arteries etc around his heart are all clear and good.

We were out from both appointments 6 minutes after the first one was due.

Went to spotlight and the flurry wool, was half price. yay.. found some lace down from $1-29 a meter to 50 cents.. YAYAY and got three balls of acrylic. not on special.. and got crayons 25% off to use to colour candle wax.

Then stopped at the Sallies and everything was half price, got candles to melt and colour and put into teacups. Got 3 more wooden coat hangersfor 20 cents YAYAY.

So shopping wise it was very good. Ive been really lucky, all the supplies Ive needed for the coat hangers etc Ive got all very cheaply.

Two tired bunnies here tonight.. Will be an early night for both of us

Finished the li'l dumpling doll - not sure whether to make it a boy or girl - heaps of clothes for both. Thinking that I might leave it as is and make a headband to turn it into a girl - what do you think?
https://trademe.tmcdn.co.nz/photoserver/full/395393768.jpg
Will have to leave the clothes until later - have been asked to make beanies and bootees for expected twins. Never a dull moment.

that doll is a boy for sure, me doing more hats , weathers yucky here today and I feel sick

carolev - 2015-07-07 07:50:00
7475

Morning
Nice to know that at least sometimes appointments go well Popeye.

Oh Tinybaldone the dumpling doll is so delightful, will be just so cute as either boy or girl, you will have to show us her clothes later. Agree that if you can knit you are never short of something that can be made.

Great niece's vest is growing nicely, I found some blue wool that I already had, she looks lovely in blue as she has very blue eyes, so have started that one.
Didn't really need to get more wool but saw some pretty wool I wanted to see how it knitted up so just couldn't resist it, now she will get 2 vests, her mother won't complain about that I know lol.

Nice day but cool so will get going and walk into town, my walking has lapsed lately for a variety of reasons so am trying to build it up again if I can. Brought new walking shoes when away - oh boy good ones aren't cheap but make such a difference.

Keep warm and have a good day

morning ladies :) Well done carol fighting off the dogs. Very scary, our boy has been attacked when we were out walking by a dog and it can get quite frightening. But you do what you have to and think about it later.

What a gorgeous doll tinybaldone, a boy for sure! maybe make another with longer hair for a girl?

Fingers crossed for MrP popeye, we've also done the rounds with heart surgery, twice, and it doesn't get easier.

Spending the $$$ on good walking shoes makes all the difference doesn't it jayemtoo. And omg they are expensive here, am so tempted to buy them online.

Had to unpick part of my throw yesterday, what a mission! Still, will be more careful so I don't have to repeat the exercise. It's knitting up beautifully, orange cables, love it!

happy knitting :)

Thanks for the input, ladies. I think you are quite right - it IS a boy - will have to make another one as a girl - there is a variation of the wig for a ponytail. Had thought this one could double as both, using a headband for the girl, but that's just me being lazy!

tinybaldone - 2015-07-07 09:24:00
7478

Afternoon everyone.. Yes Im very late.. but I nipped up the street while MrP was still in bed.. Hes still very tired.

Love the dumpling doll Tinybaldone.. Definatly a boy.. Do you have a link to the pattern.. he is adorable.

MrP is going to learn very quickly how I felt when I had my heart surgery, its going to be harder for him with his other complaints... That's one thing I do know.

When Im done on here Ill do some flowers. I took wool and a hook yesterday but didn't even have time to get them out of my bag lol..

Its cooling down, and dark here now so we are having Winter again lol.. YAYAYAY.

HAve a good day everyone

Hi Popeye - pattern for dumpling doll is available through Craftsy. Go to the search section at the top of the page and put in gypsycream - all her patterns will come up - fair warning - you might find it hard to choose just one! She has some lovely patterns. Cost for li'l dumpling was $7-71 NZD, so not too bad. Must add, there are 50 odd pages to pattern as there are so many clothes as well. Thought the printer was never going to stop! Payment is through Paypal, (which I don't have), but Visa was accepted.

7481

morning ladies :) What/who is in Te Awamutu carole (being nosey here :P ) Great your car is fixed.

I might check out that pattern as well tinybaldone, 50 pages, wow, you could save the pages and print out just what you need but I think I would be like you and print the lot out lol. I have patterns I have printed off with several pages (embroidery mainly) and have them spiral bound at the printers. For a few $$$ it keeps them nice and tidy and I can still copy a page if I want too.

We had a doozy of a storm here last night but it seems quite calm this morning even if it is still raining. Good day to get more knitting done.

Happy knitting :)

Morning
Must confess I am being ultra lazy at the moment as slept in - most unusual but sat up till after midnight knitting as wide awake and then awake several times. Anyway bed was the warmest place to be it is so cold here.

I have a pile of printed off patterns but brought an iPad which is so good for storing any that I download, which these days is most of them, now I seldom use a paper pattern.

Going to make a big pot of soup once I get going as have visitors coming next week and that is a good standbye in this weather. Pity the poor mums with the school holidays as we had such lovely weather last week.

jayemtoo - 2015-07-08 09:31:00
7483

Morning everyone..
Thanks Tinybaldone, Wow 50 pages, I know I don't have enough ink for that.. But Ill see if I can download it on my Tablet and use it that way.

Didn't do much yesterday really. Did put the flurry wool away into the little bag thingee I have it in.. Its absolutely full now. 2 balls makes 3 coat hangers, and I got them for 99 cents a ball. So very economical.

Im getting some wool of Whiskey13, via face book.. Its not like I needed it, but its such a vibrant orange lime green colour it just grabbed me and I had to have it.. Im thinking top down dresses will be coming up lol.

Having way too many late mornings here... but added to by the fact that theres no cars with banging doors for the next two weeks from the school lol

Have an awesome Day everyone

Brrrrrrrrrrrr it's cold!! - supposedly not even getting into double figures temperature wise today, I don't "do" cold very well lol.

It was cold yesterday too so got a lot of knitting done, finished one milo vest and well down another.

I was making soup in the slow cooker so put it in the dining room and it really helped warm up the room, rather than leaving it in the kitchen which didn't need warming up.

Looking after 8 year old girl today but not sure what we will be doing, something warm.
Have a good day and keep warm.

jayemtoo - 2015-07-09 07:58:00

morning ladies, its frosty this morning but omg it's going to be a stunner of a day.

Some patterns I have to print out as I don't have a tablet, just a laptop and I hate reading the screen for too long.

I did get some knitting done yesterday and got the border of my hardanger finished. Well, when I say finished, I have the basic outline for it done so can now go back and do the 'filling in'. It's going to be a very long process to get this piece done as I'm following an old photo and written instructions.

Hope everyone is able to stay warm today and get some sort of crafting done.

happy knitting :)

Good morning ladies, well it's freezing here, but you're right kiwimade, it has the makings of a fabulous day - if I can just warm up.

Yesterday step-son and I unloaded, and stacked 3 cu metres of firewood, it's lovely dry gum. The previous lot we bought was supposed to be dry teatree but it was wet and a bit green and boy was it heavy. Anyway Paul wheelbarrowed it across the lawn and I stacked it all. I slept like a log last night, bed at 10 and slept till 8 this morning.

I told Mr K that I was planning on being absent next week and he muttered something about I couldn't go away and leave him and I said "watch me, I'm going - Paul will look after you" and Paul chipped in with "no I won't" and grumps said "I don't need anyone to look after me" so I said "well that's good then, you won't miss me". And we left it at that. It wasn't mentioned again.

Went to knit and natter yesterday and some of the ladies said they thought I would be away, and I replied "fingers crossed, next week" - just have to hope it's not pouring with rain next week or I won't want to travel. I'm already planning what to take with me in the way of knitting and crochet, along with the kindle and ipad. And if this cold weather keeps up I'll have to pack some warm clothes too.

Have an awesome day everyone.

Hiya everyone.. Silly comp didn't want to behave this morning..

Its a beautiful cold day out there..

Stick to your guns Kuaka... and go, even if he is complaining as you walk out the door... Ive done it before.

I am still plodding on the napkin rings, but should get them all knitted today.

Over spent on the groceries OOPS.. but I shouldn't need anything till next shopping day , apart from my coke lol...

morning ladies, we have a -4 frost here this morning, looks lovely with the sun rising on it.

I've knitted a few more rows of the throw, had to unpick again, my own fault for knitting when I'm tired and thinking I know the pattern well enough not to use the pattern.

Housework then will see what the day brings, knitting will be in there somewhere.

Happy knitting :)

Morning
Sunny but cold but at least I think today we will get into double figures temperature wise.

Keep dropping the hints Kuaka and pack your bags, the blokes will get used to the idea eventually - even if it is after you have taken off!

Off to the movies this am as it was all sold out yesterday much to the disappointment of miss 8. I seldom go but thought it was something warm we could do.

Finished the 2 milo vests now doing a slouch beanie for niece she wants a bright pink hat. At least with the cold weather knitting gets done.

Morning everyone.. Another cool start, but its a lovely day.

My back is bad today, I think I slept too long in one position, with ten Tonne Tessy on my hip lol... she's only 4 kilos but You know she's on you lol

Ive got a huge piece of hogget in the crockpot this morning. If it had been any bigger it wouldn't have fitted in the 6 litre pot lol... Now will have to suffer all day with the aromas lol

Ive finished knitting the napkin rings, have to cut the bottles etc to make the middle. So that will be my job today. To get those done. 3 dozen will be enough I think.

Will do a few more jelly babies next. And then start sewing up the dwarfs in-between doing Top down dresses.

Got washing on, but I cant hang it out the way my back is, so Ill dry it in the dryer, later in the afternoon so the heat helps warm the house.

Have an awesome day everyone

morning ladies, it's -5 here this morning :) But what a lovely day to come.

Did some more knitting last night, the orange is knitting up beautifully, such a vibrant colour and the cables really stand out.

Not sure what the day will bring but I need to move, the Furry One is bashing my leg with his tug rope wanting to play. A good way for us to warm up :)

happy knitting :)

Morning ladies, not sure what the outside temp is but we have a white frost again as we did yesterday. Not actually a white frost here on the garden (maybe on the roof but I haven't bothered checking) the grass verges on the beach down the road are white and the roofs on all the houses I can see at the bottom of the road. Brrrrr! We don't get them very often up here. We've just checked, it's 7 degrees in the lounge, and 28 in the family room/dining/kitchen with the woodfire going. Quite a difference.

Yesterday I did nothing but sit around crocheting all day apart from nipping to town to check the mail and get a few bits from the shop. Today I will have to put clean sheets on the bed, vacuum and wash the kitchen floor - how exciting.

Still planning on escaping next week. My friend is back home, just got to double-check my son will be home. Mr K wasn't happy yesterday when I mentioned it again, but it's not going to stop me.

Happy knitting everyone.

Morning
Not nearly as cold today and a weak sun so think it is on the improve again now.

Got quite a way with the hat yesterday but now have to go and get more wool, i forget just how much wool adult things use.

Have big pot of soup on and mince which will be either tacos or lasagne depending on how much energy I have later, this is ready for nephew's family who are arriving tomorrow - parents and 2 children. They were going to stay with me but sister is away so they can use her house and give them more room (and me a bit of quiet at times lol).

Off to supermarket soon then a bit of housework before getting onto the needles again.

Its 5.7 out and 9.2 inside. No heating on tho.
Will be a glorious day tho.

I finally finished all the napkin rings. Im not planning on making any more of those.
Started a mauve white pink and blue top down dress last night. Ill do a few newborn ones.

I just got a parcel in the mail of the wool I brought of Whiskey. Its fluro colours and lovely. I plan on making some top downs with that too.. They will really stand out in that lol

Was kinda hoping to go to Pukekohe today but I have to wait a little... mind you, its too cold as yet to go anywhere... It can wait for another day.

A quiet day here hanging off the end of my needles. While I figure out in my find, just where I will put these 6 balls of wool lol

Have an awesome day everyone

morning ladies :) Another doozy of a frost, -5 again out here. Everything is frosted including a pipe in the kitchen. I wonder if it hadn't completely defrosted yesterday and today was the last straw, so to speak. Anyhoo, it's no biggie, it can dribble some water out and MrK said there was a valve to stop it bursting so all good.

I was able to finish a repeat pattern on my throw yesterday. 60 rows with over two hundred stitches, cabled, is a lot of knitting, especially when I had to unpick it a few times. Am happy with the result even if I can spot a mistake - am not unpicking it again lol. Each pattern repeat takes 150 grams of wool, so easy to work out how many balls I will need. It is getting heavy on my needles but I think the longer it gets, the easier to knit as it can spread out and the weight can be carried on my legs or couch.

Hope everyone manages to enjoy the day.

happy knitting :)
