They are beautiful. I've finally got my phone on again and consistent Internet whoop whoop. I got sick of trying to post and then it was gone. I was able to wireless access my daughters internet connection but only now and then.
I'm glad S will get some help now. My son has taken a long time to get his meds right. Side effects of different meds were awful.
I often wonder about Zoe.
I'm now crocheting a black and red rug. I was winding balls and then I thought " More weaving! So I a have the wool on two years and am crocheting it with no joins. I saw the guys looking in my window. Most likely think I am nuts ha ha. A is making very appreciative sounds about how she likes the red I've already done ha ha. Hope you are having fun in your time off.
Why are you going to the shop?

"cos there's no-one else to work on Mondays! Sigh. And it was really cold in there, plus I had to deal with a minor drama at work by phone. Sigh. Slept for a couple of hours in the armchair during the afternoon and still slept like a log last night. LOL. I am hoping to wash the outside of our windows today before the weather closes in. I have an appointment at Specsavers this afternoon to organise new glasses and tonight I am speaking at a Rotary Club (another work thing). Regardless of which week I took off there would always be something so at least this is dinner out and I. is coming with me and I love talking about our organisation. LOL.
Your rugs sound great, your family will be tagging them with their names for Christmas. LOL. I've done 3 pairs of baby socks in the past couple of days. Not sure what to start today.

You need more Volunteers. You are as bad as my daughter going to work on a Sunday because they were short staffed sigh.
Got up this morning and begger it my back is out. Had a hell of a day. Couldn't sit for long or stand for long so it was a tad uncomfortable she says gritting her teeth. Ha ha. So no crocheting today. I tried but couldn't cope. Just been reading and throwing things in frustration lol.
Tomorrow will be better.
Hope the dinner out was nice.

Dinner was lovely and they were a great group to speak to. So your back is from carrying stuff from neighbour's driveway? Where were the tradesman at the time, if they are keeping an eye on you through your window shame they can't step up to lend a hand when needed! I am so sorry you are in so much pain.
I have found a new pattern to play with: a unicorn!!!! LOL. Most of the way through the pieces already so will be able to show you soon - if it works out. L9 is moved on from giraffes which he has loved since a baby to unicorns but you can only get them in girly colours. If this one works out one might eventually find it's way into his Xmas stocking. LOL. Off for coffee with friends today and a look through a charity bookshop, too.

grizzly4 - 2016-08-03 10:13:00
7455

They have helped at times. The younger ones of course ha ha. Today was a better day. I washed the latest rug and boy did the black run. Think it's ok now. I managed to make another today. I might back them. I can't imagine my family blocking them in place when they are washed so to keep them in shape I'll back them. Have to be dark colours so I'll check my sewing stash tomorrow. M8 loves unicorns.
Oh Charity bookshelves are fun.

makerealbany - 2016-08-04 00:04:00
7456

I made room on the shelves for the new books by taking some others to a friend who has just had a hip replacement. LOL. I know they will be back but maybe by then I'll have cleaned out some others. All of the pieces are finished for the unicorn. Hopefully will get to sew it up today. Never quite home till after dinner out yesterday. Went for a drive after lunch with friends and sat in a cafe on the beach for ages watching the sea. It's a shame our week is over halfway through. Today we are meeting daughter S and B8 after school for coffee so we can give her her birthday presents for Monday. We never see her over the weekends any more. Before that I might suggest a game of ten pin bowls LOL.

Sounds like you are enjoying your time away from work. I have not been very productive today at all. I packed two parcels to send away and finished another rug. I have loads of quilt backing but still not sure what to do. I'll check it out on u tube. I spent ages browsing my patterns ha ha.

makerealbany - 2016-08-04 19:56:00
7458

I might do that today - going through patterns for a clean out. Brilliant sunshine here right now so might go out somewhere before the snow comes. Doing quite touristy things this week. LOL.

grizzly4 - 2016-08-05 10:45:00
7459

The Unicorn is finished for better or worse. Will see if I can improve on this next time but working on a dolls blanket at present.

She is really cute. Went up to T's for the day. Poor K7 was sick. He had a high temp and vomited continuously. Finally fell asleep. Poor little guy.
I started a Beanie for my neighbour. I'm knitting Alpaca and Merino. Size 4 needles are hard after my big crochet hook ha ha.

Really slept in this morning after bad dreams about work during the night. Have to catch up on housework and food prep before family arrives.

Had a great Birthday with lots of good food and pressies. I slept in as well.

makerealbany - 2016-08-06 23:58:00
7463

Happy BIrthday! I should remember yours is so close daughter S's tomorrow. I'm glad you had a great day. I spent yesterday sorting out all my patterns. LOL. What a mission that was! Have quite a few I will list on TM and if they don't go then I'll donate to charity.

I'm not too keen on this wool. It's lovely and soft but is uneven and thin in places. I just picked up my knitting lol. Another busy day with visiting and visitors. Off to get a haircut tomorrow.

7465

Spent the day at T's. We had a lovely Birthday tea for her. A and I got her a Fragrance Lamp. She got one for me for my birthday and when we tried it she really liked it ha ha. She was as thrilled as I was. A loves them so guess what she will get for her Birthday.

Took I. up to Emergency yesterday at 4am. He was in severe pain and we had no idea what was going on. We've just got home now and he has been on morphine all that time. Although all tests couldn't prove anything they think it was a kidney stone. We are both exhausted now but the pain has stopped apparently. Scarey stuff, watching him go through that.

grizzly4 - 2016-08-09 11:34:00
7467

Poor I kidney stones are so painful. Hope he's feeling better. It can be draining for a couple of days after. I never want to go through that again. Rest up you two xxxxxx

7468

We're both back to work today. So much for our week off last week. We're both feeling like it didn't happen after last couple of days. We slept yesterday afternoon and in bed by 9.30 last night. LOL. It'll be interesting to see whether our GP contacts I. once the hospital sends records through. My money is on that he doesn't.

grizzly4 - 2016-08-10 06:28:00
7469

Within minutes of my last message, I. was home again after passing out at work. Sigh. "Apparently' hospital should have told him no work till next week because of the morphine in his system. We thought he would be clear after 24 hours with no drugs but apparently not. Records had been sent through to GP though and she wants follow up on some liver results that aren't connected to why he was in hospital. It seems it's going to on going for awhile. In the mean time I cleared 80 emails yesterday and organised an origami activity for the women's group. LOL. Still a pile of paper work to deal with on my desk and meetings galore over next 2 days. I can do it.....I can do it.....I can do it.....LOL.
Hows your back, makerealbany?

grizzly4 - 2016-08-11 07:50:00
7470

Oh my poor I what idiots not giving him a medical certificate and explaining about morpheine . Off course you will be worn out as well.
Yep you can do it girl. My back is ok thanks. I've run over the last two days, helping out T who has a bad virus. Spent today at home yah. Concrete was cancelled yesterday because it poured so now it's next Tuesday and once again we can't drive down to the house as the drains are across the new driveway that's already finished. We are so over this. Sigh. I'm planning another quilt so I'm fiddling with colours nd pattern tonight.

makerealbany - 2016-08-11 21:57:00
7471

My goodness you have big projects on! Between all the rugs and now a quilt. Good on you. I've been working on a yellow and white fairisle cardy. About to start 2nd sleeve and it's fingers crossed to the bitter end that I will have enough of the yellow. I've done all the bands before the sleeves just in case I have to be extra creative with the tops of the sleeves.

grizzly4 - 2016-08-12 07:13:00
7472

Now that's clever. I'm still mulling over my colours for my quilt. Was running all day. M8's Cross Country Run. A had to work so I went. M worked herself into quite a nervous wreck. She was last at last years as she wasn't feeling well. She did not want to go through that again. But we encouraged her and she was 14th in a run of 31. The beam on her little face was beautiful. I got heaps of hugs ha ha. J had a Birthday Party after school so M and I went shopping and had tea out.

makerealbany - 2016-08-12 22:27:00
7473

Good on M! I ran out of yellow 2 patterns from top of sleeve. Will have to try and match it this morning. Picked up my new glasses last night and as usual it's driving me mad getting used to them.

grizzly4 - 2016-08-13 10:15:00
7474

Spent the day at T's motivating her son to mow the lawns and clean up the backyard. He was not happy but T and I were ha ha. Just got home and I'm starving so will go and cook tea.

makerealbany - 2016-08-13 20:03:00
7475

Both B11 and L9 were in particularly helpful moods yesterday. LOL. It was cold and wet here so couldn't do anything outside unfortunately. It was still a good day. I matched the wool and finished the cardy, have done a separate pair of bootees as well. Quite a stash to take to the shop tomorrow with all the items I was meant to take last week and never got there.

grizzly4 - 2016-08-14 11:01:00
7476

I.'s first day back at work today after 2 weeks off in the end. I really need to get a handle on all this worry, now I'm scared it's going to happen again on top of all the work stuff. Sigh. I've started another fairisle cardy - in blue and white this time AND I've already bought an extra ball of the blue just in case. LOL.

grizzly4 - 2016-08-15 06:17:00
7477

Stress seems to play a major part in our lives lately sigh. Had a friend visit on Sunday which was really nice. To be able to talk to someone my own age was amazing. Sometimes other generations do not understand us ha ha. Today I spent he day cleaning. There is so much dust around and will continue until the driveway is finished and the gardens can be dug and planted. They are doing the rest of the driveway tomorrow. Fingers crossed lol. I'm slowing tacking. Squares for my quilt. Thought I might knit tonight but fell asleep ha ha. Early start tomorrow so I'm going to bed now. My neck is a bit stiff. Sleeping in the Lazyboy without extending the footrest will do that to you ha ha.

makerealbany - 2016-08-15 23:18:00
7478

LOL. Working well on the next fairisle cardy. The back and first front are done. Sick staff at work so trying to juggle the programmes and still do what I need to d, too. Lots of bugs around at present. Not like Havelock North, though. I really feel for them.

grizzly4 - 2016-08-16 06:33:00
7479

I'll say it's dreadful. They did the concrete. Whoop whoop. Neighbour now says " It's not what I thought it would be" it's a drive way duh costs thousands and she's not happy. .... Honestly even my other neighbour said she affords her like a plague ha ha. She wishes she had a great neighbour who would pay for fences and a driveway off the road .
We both come off the road at the same place and it's only two car lengths long then we are on our property. Why the hell the council let them come in then I don't know . Years ago everything was not checked. They actually drive into the paper road so they really don't have a legal driveway access. We are too darn kind but legally they could be made to get their own driveway. Ugh.

makerealbany - 2016-08-16 21:55:00
7480

The way things were drawn up in the past leaves a lot to be desired. We have the same issue at work and regardless of who the tenants are in the Housing NZ house up the back there are ongoing struggles. Two thirds of the width of the driveway all the way from the street the full length of our property to their boundary fence belongs to us. Over the years we have our cars in our parking space reversed into, we have put judder bars up the driveway to restrict their speed past our children's play area and had to put stanchions at each end of the judder bars as they wanted to try and drive round them. There is untold paint marks on those poles and the corner of our building from a variety of cars over the years. One pole is on a bit of a lean and the cement that is holding it solid in the ground is completely cracked from being hit. The judder bars have gouges in the tops and usually has oil marks from where they have ground out their cars still going too fast. Sigh. And the complaints we get even though we just need to keep the people safe who are accessing our services. LOL. Luckily we have the full support of Housing NZ.

grizzly4 - 2016-08-17 06:30:00
7481

I do not like shared driveways even for 2 car lengths lol. Had a running day. I went to Wairau Park to get some hinges for T's back door. Rang up Rylock. Miss La de dah informed that the closest place to get them was at East Tamaki which would have taken me an hour to get here at lest. Looked on Google and found a place 20 mins away duh. Then I had the Library to return books and get some more ha ha. I also had to go and buy Dunhill the cat some Purina One as his tummy is playing up again. It happens every now and then. I get him the Furball stuff as he seems to get a few and then it settles down. Vet was so helpful not. Tonight I went up to the beach to watch K7 in the Wizard of Oz. He was a blue Munchkin ha ha. Looked so cute.

makerealbany - 2016-08-17 23:27:00
7482

I love the cat's name!!!! LOL. Flurry suffers badly from furballs as well and I use the Optimum furball food from the supermarket. Works a treat. Son S's birthday today, where have those 32 years gone?We haven't been out on the bikes for so long, that's what he wants to do on Saturday. Back, 2 fronts and all the bands done on cardy. First sleeve started. Doesn't sound as if you have had much time for quilting. Women's Group tried our hands at Indoor bowls yesterday. It was a great morning. Now I really want to retire. LOL.

grizzly4 - 2016-08-18 06:32:00
7483

I took the kids to school this morning. They have a ritual in my car. They put their fluffy blanket over their knees even though the heater is on lol and then they ask for their story. I have to make up a story. Sometimes they ask for the same characters so I have to remember everything ha ha. I always finish as we arrive at school. Dragons, fairies, mermaids, good witches and magic and of course a little boy and girl. M8 told me I am the best storyteller in the whole world ha ha.
After I had finished the usual chores I sewed squares together for two hours then I had a visitor this afternoon. One of my neighbours has been popping in. She's lovely and we have lots of laughs, tea and cake.
Two hours sewing at a time is enough for my back . I cooked a casserole today to fill containers in the freezer and I have another cooking now. I baked yesterday to fill the tins so feeling quite virtuous ha ha.

makerealbany - 2016-08-18 22:00:00
7484

My gosh you are organised. Your car game is much healthier than mine. All 3 boys know I keep Oddfellow peppermints in the car (they keep me awake on the way home!). Our game is to see who can make theirs last the longest. LOL. But your stories sound amazing, maybe you should put them to print!

grizzly4 - 2016-08-19 06:34:00
7485

I have discovered loveknitting.com, they have an excellent selection of patterns and a good number of them are free.

grizzly4 - 2016-08-19 06:36:00
7486

Yes it is a great site. I belong to Ravellry. They have lots of free patterns. I never put my wool etc on there. Too busy ha ha. My grandchildren always ask me to write a book. No time for that ha ha. I always tell them that they can remember the stories for their children. K6 makes me do the same but he like Dragons, Dinosaurs and Taniwhas. I never read them stories at night I tell them stories . They read to me first.
Our Driveway is finally finished and my dirty car is right outside the door. Whoop whoop. What a relief. Poor A is exhausted carrying school bags and work stuff up and down.
I got two lovely Vintage cloths on TM today and a vintage bag. Excellent bargains. I love old things. M takes after me . She always says " Buy that Nana. You do remember that you and I are the only ones who love Vintage" ha ha. She's staked her claim on a Glory Box of mine. " In years to come of course.

makerealbany - 2016-08-19 22:06:00
7487

Thats great about the drive! Yahoo. I'm with Ravelry, too. LOL. I still think that your story telling is wonderful gift.
All up it's been a good week, I think. Met the goals each day I set myself and trying to shift the feeling so overwhelmed by the funding stuff. I think I. being in hospital last week gave me such a scare I realised there are worse things that could happen so I've decided to go down fighting to the last. LOL. The fairisle cardy is ready to be sewn up and I even got buttons ahead of time. I really want to start a pattern I bought the other morning online but have started the wee All Black jersey that one of the women at work has asked me to do. It's going back to England with her soon for her new nephew.

grizzly4 - 2016-08-20 07:07:00
7488

You have done really well for the week. What a lucky lady to have the speedy knitter doing her little All Blackjersey ha ha.
I spent the day helping T and when I came home K7 was packed and in my car ha ha. Got home and the new driveway had cars everywhere. Heaps of visitors who all stayed for tea. I came into my cottage and hid in here ha ha. Children running and playing everywhere. K had a ball. I sorted more material for my quilt and then tried to knit. I was interrupted so many times I gave up. Phone rang all night as well sigh.

makerealbany - 2016-08-20 23:07:00
7489

Party Central at your place by the sounds of it! LOL. What fun. I paid L9 an exorbitant amount of money to help in the garden yesterday while the men went out on the bikes. DIL was studying inside. He actually did a good job but it cost me to motivate him in the first place. LOL. At least my roses are ready for Spring now and the driveway is tidy. Taking all the cuttings to recycling today after I. does the lawns. I am hoping to sew up the fairisle cardy and load those patterns on TM that I cleared out a while back.

Yesterday was a great day and being lovely and warm was an added bonus. I got everything done I had planned to. Here's hoping this week goes the same way. Was your Sunday a bit calmer, makerealbany?

grizzly4 - 2016-08-22 06:36:00
7492

Been there and done that motivational trick with my grandsons sigh lol. K7 had a great time here. My older grandson picked him up in the afternoon.
I baked in the afternoon so he took his cupcakes and biscuits home for his lunches. J and M collected theirs as well ha ha. No favourites. I had my tea and sat down and boom. Power cut. I have my torch ha ha really handy in my Lazyboy. I had just turned the heat pump on and was thinking about a nice hot bath. I was really annoyed and cold very quickly. I couldn't even use my IPad. M had flattened the battery and K had done the same with my Laptop. Grrrr so I got into my Pjs and popped into bed. I read with my torch. Fell asleep at 11.30 and the power came on after that. I turned all the light switches and TV off so I'm not sure what time it came on. Big accident and someone died. Most of this side of Auckland was out. We have too many accidents with people hitting power poles up here.
YesI do not enjoy knitting black either ha ha

makerealbany - 2016-08-22 22:03:00
7493

The Accident sounds dreadful and what a waste of an evening for you. I'm having to sort these patterns out for postage already. LOL. Listed them on Sunday and sold 16 in 24 hours. Too cheap I suppose but needed to re-home them. Wee All Black jersey is nearly finished, just have a few more rows to do on the collar and sew it up.

grizzly4 - 2016-08-23 07:02:00
7494

Late night at work last night with staff training. Still managed to finish collar of jersey and start beanie. Women's Group are painting fridge magnets today after I made plaster of paris moulds on Sunday. They have taken forever to dry so I hope they are ok.

grizzly4 - 2016-08-24 06:52:00
7495

Ran all day yesterday. Took kids to their first time back at Karate for awhile. They finish Soccer on Saturday but A thought they were finishing the season last weekend so she booked them back into Karate. She's trying to keep the out of school activities manageable ho ho. They both have homework so they need some free play time. I was so tired last night, fell asleep in my chair early ha ha. Late home tonight so no crafting. Wow those patterns went quick alright.

makerealbany - 2016-08-24 22:40:00
7496

Still a few patterns to go though. I weeded out 39 in total to re-home if possible. Both Rugby and League finished for our boys last weekend and neither play summer sport. B11 has been picked for the Canterbury Reps team again this year so he 3 practices a week at present before the 2 games they actually play. At least they don't have to travel this year. He has also taken up basketball through school. I came home at lunch time yesterday with a killer headache. It was the worst I've had for many years and truly didn't know what to do with myself in the end. Finally settled about 8 last night but feeling quite fragile today.

grizzly4 - 2016-08-25 06:57:00
7497

Hope that headache leaves you alone. You poor thing. I can understand you feeling fragile. I'm on auto pilot his week. Seem to have so much to do and sort out sigh. I'm off to bed. Was going to be really busy doing things for myself tonight but just too tired. Never mind tomorrow will be a better day.

makerealbany - 2016-08-25 22:45:00
7498

Is this your 'normal' organising and sorting out stuff or has something happened to make it worse?
I kept the headache at bay yesterday thank goodness. The All Black set is finished and will be taking it into work this morning for my co-worker.

grizzly4 - 2016-08-26 06:42:00
7499

Boy, you've had some major weather lately! Are you feeling any better? We've had 2 really wet days all winter, it's been crazy. One was yesterday and I'm hoping it clears fast as we have a Family Event for work planned to go up on the Gondola at lunch time. There is lots of families booked in (not me) and I would hate to see them disappointed. I think my co-worker liked the knitting, she didn't say much. Sigh. I'm getting some small things done to take to the shop on Monday now. But tomorrow I think I will start the romper and cardy pattern I bought on line. It's in 4ply so will take a while.

grizzly4 - 2016-08-27 10:36:00

It seems there is one crisis after another sigh. I keep telling myself it can only get better lol. I cleaned all my kithen cupboards out today. Spent ages washing all the plastic containers and renaming them. I had castor sugar in two containers ugh. It all takes time but I'm pleased with my efforts. My great grandson is arriving soon to spend the night. I am not happy with his mother. My grandson had her bleating on the phone from Monday until Wednesday. Saying she could not cope. She has left her partner of three years. S had to drive down to Hamilton and pick C up from school on Wednesdayas she cried and carried on. Little C missed two days of school and she has not rung to see if he is alright. He's a mess so heaven knows what's been going on. S rang her Aunt to see where she was but she didn't know. What if here was an emergency? Aunt thinks she's off with some guy grrrrr. So we may have to sort it out legally. Lawyers just love us. They make a fortune out of us. Sigh. I really wanted to clean my bedroom drawers tomorrow but it will have to wait.
I am going to crochet something tonight don't know what yet ha ha.
