What on earth Happened? Why were your pics taken down? Thats very strange.
Armin do keep coming in.. Email TM and ask them why they are being taken down. The way it looks now, it looks like you have taken them down. Cos it normally says things have been removed by the administrator.
Thats unfair, your not self promoting.

I managed to get another golf club sock done last night... One of the girls at the supermarket wants a girl. I discovered I have patterns for three different ones so that gives her a choice

what the heck happened to armin? I hope no one made a complaint about her as there was nothing to complain about! I loved looking at her knitting, gave me good ideas about colour.
I've finished all the pieces of the matinee jacket, just going to sew it and stitch the neckline. Need to find some wee buttons, will have a fossick in my button jar for those.
Have a good day everyone!

Hi, I am so sad, yes Trade Me said they have recieved complaints about my photos of rasta hat, baby shoes and baby top. It is said that I am self promoting and advertising. I don't know whether there have been multiple complaints or the plural refers to the three items. The stuff I create is usually for sale or gifted to friends. I invent a lot of patterns so I thought if you liked them you might like to copy them. I am part of a wonderful grief support thread, where we have become close friends. We send gifts to each other, visit and genuienly love one another. My Mum died not long ago, we used to craft together and appreciate our efforts. The ladies in The So Alone thread have become like honarary Mum's to me. Many of them are in that older Mum age group so they fill a huge gap for me. Trade Me said I will be banned if I self promote or advertise my craft anywhere. I value being apart of the other thread so much that I can't risk staying here with you like minded knitters. Also I'm wondering if even talking about your craft on here, without a photo would be considered as promoting. I think you should be careful too Pops, I would hate for you to receive a message like that. so all things considered I feel that I can not stay here. Also it saddens me that obviously someone involved in this thread in some way must have laid the complaint. Thankyou, other people for your kind words. I am slightly asd and don't get some things, this makes me cry as I enjoyed being here.

oh armin, that's awful. I really feel for you. I enjoyed seeing the pictures of your lovely knitting and didn't for a moment consider you were "self-promoting". Most of us crafters are a friendly bunch, but I daresay there's always the odd one or two who like to stir trouble. I really feel for you regarding losing your Mum recently, as I lost mine just 13 months ago, and I'm still a bit raw emotionally. We can never replace our Mums and I don't even have a substitute one. Try not to get too upset about this, keep up with your beautiful knitting. Hugs.

Oh armin59 that is just awful. I put up photos of the hats I had knitted for friends (and I had little hats listed at the same time). I thought that it was only self promoting if you were advertising the items you were showing off. I myself will be careful about what photos I put up now as I have been warned in the past - I put up photos in Parents and people asked me to knit for them, which I then listed so trademe got their fees. Doesn't seem much different than people asking questions on an auction for a certain colour or size?

grrr that makes me cross, you weren't self promoting armin. There has to be someone out there who spoils things. I posted pics on our 'show and tell' thread too so will wait for the TM email.
I lost my mum two and a half years ago armin, even at my age (I'm 48 nearly 49) it can be tough going. Especially when you have exciting news you want to share and she's not there to share it with. All the best to you.

Armin59 it is really sad that you cannot show us what you have been knitting. I really look forward to seeing what you have created and I do hope that you continue to contribute to this thread (hugs) I personally do not think it is self promoting to show what you have created. Sorry to hear about the loss of your mum I lost mine many years ago

I think we have all at some stage had pictures of our work up. I know I have, and have later sold it on here. But I am carefull not to put it up when I have the item listed.
But geeze thats a bit rough eh
Dont let them stop you from Posting Armin.. we all want you to stay.
Nice you have a support group to help you through losing your mum. I got heaps of help from here when mum died.

You just stay with us ok...

Wow isnt it odd that we have all lost our mothers in a close time frame. Mum will be two years on April 9th..
A friend here and I tell people we want to start an Adult Orphans group.. And its amazing how many people want to adopt new parents or in my case grandparents. Which is probably why I am closer to older people than those of my own age, 47/ 48 in may

Hi guys. I haven't posted in a while has we have 1 week to go before EQC repairs start so am clearing and tidying like there is no tomorrow. I've been reading this thread each night at work on my smartphone so have been up to date with everything. I cant believe that someone would stup so low as to complain about the lovely handmade items that armin has been creating. Some people have nothing better to do.I lost my mum 15 months ago (boxing day 2011) so i think we should rename this thread to "the wool hoarders who have lost their mums support" thread (or something like that).

So true *whiskey*....it was clearing out my Mums wool & materials that got me remotivated.

A lurker here and I love this thread.I hate sewing up knitted garments and just from the tips and encouragement that the crafts mb has shared, I have improved so much. The photos and stories you all share are such an encouragement.Armin -you daily life is an inspiration.Popeye-having been on warfrin(sp) too, your determination and grit are I am sure a big help to others. You other Christchurch ladies-awesome.Knitters who are unwell and keep on going, good for you.As for the knitting photos, they are awesome and help each other to aspire to the challenge.
Take care girls and may no one feel that they are not welcome on this board.

Lol. I lost my mother in 2001 and I still miss her and I'm 61. Mum died on my dad's birthday so my sister and I say she was dad's birthday present in heaven :-) Our mother's are special treasures.

Mum taught me to knit when I was 6 !! She always encouraged me in any craft I took up even though she wasn't a crafter as such. She knitted because that's what mothers did in those days - knitted for their families.

Armin - please don't go from this thread. We enjoy your company. There are some really pissy people out there and why anyone would complain about the pics on here, beggars belief.

I'm just thinking outside the square here but I wonder if we could start up a ' folder for photos' outside of TM, like Photobucket or something like that and everyone on this thread have access to it. I love looking at what other people have made. Anyway, I'll just put it out there to see what others think.

Beautiful day here in Christchurch. I took a couple of hours annual leave and finished early. Have just got back from a walk with Quinn. Sat outside in the shade with a cold drink when I got home and have now come in and turned the air-con on.

My mum is still knitting beanies for babies, at age nearly 91.
She doesn't think she will ever knit another garment, but is thrilled that she can still do some "charity work" even at her age.

My father died 39 years ago in June. I was 9. I had the best in the World stepfather tho.
I was far closer to him than mum. Although I never called him dad. Till the last day. But he was Jimmy, and to him I was popeye, hence my username
the odd thing was he died in 2000 and two school friends lost their mothers that year too. Although we werent talking then. One friend still has her ftaher., but the one Im closest to lost her dad 4 years ago too.

To a degree Im hardened to losing people now. And if Im honest it was harder to lose my girl cat that had saved my life than Mum.. Even tho we werent close I respected mum, but she created soo much mess in our family.
But the good news is Im now talking to my brother, Which we got played off against via mum.. She cant hurt us now. And she tried her best to get us back together a couple of days before she died.
We understand alot more now.
To me it matters more that Jimmy is proud of me. But I will say mum was one of the strongest women I know. She outlived two husbands a Daughter, son and grandson.

I like the idea of somewhere we can post our pics without all the hassle armin has had. Maybe facebook? I know not everyone uses FB though. Been years since I've used photobucket, I bet my account there has lapsed lol.
My nieghbour spied my knitting and has lent me a whole pile of baby patterns. I am soooo regretting selling my patterns and needles! On the upside, I get to buy new stuff :P
Happy knitting everyone.
edited to add I'd be happy to 'open' a new FB group thingy if that is what everyone wants.

You have all been busy chatting today - how lovely. If everyone is on Facebook a group on there would be awesome.
My mum died on Mothers Day 4 years ago this year, seems like only a couple of months ago. My father died 2 years and one month before mum. They were both very ill for many years before they died, but tried to keep going for each other.
My sisters' and I call ourselves orphans too (we're all in our 50's).
I hope armin comes back to join us...

Wow! Armin's feeling the love. Thanks for being nice to me today knitwits. I think I must have offended other people who sell their knitting on Trade Me. I didn't think anyone other than knitters who could easily knit the stuff I do would be on this thread. I remember a few weeks ago someone had a go about my photos. I love seeing other people's craft, it makes me realise that I'm not a waste of space nerd and there are other people like me out there. I'm on Facebook, but I'm crap with the computer so I would just be a follower. Finished a fiesta dress, first try on circulars, picot edge and feather and fan. Will make moss stitch t-bars and a flower headband to go with it. Am I in trouble now for describing what I have made to you guys. Eventually it will be for sale so is this against the rules. Would someone brainier than me find out please because as some of you have noted this ruling effects/affects (which one?) all of us. Cacophony of barks, Mr is home. Bye.

I'm relatively new to TM and loved coming into this thread as it is so non threatening compared with a few of the other ones I've looked into. Love seeing what others do and have never noticed any self promoting but just like minded people showing what they have done and have found it inspiring and very interesting. Very little knitting done this week as been helping with a home build for Habitat for Humanity which has been great fun even if rather tiring doing long days of sanding and painting.
How did you like the circular needles Armin? I have recently started using them and now actively search on line for patterns which use them as I find them so good and the less sewing up the better. When I get a bit of quiet time I want to learn the magic loop.

I've been leant (sp) a pattern for a baby's rugby jersey and the booties even have little 'sprigs' on them :)... I'm going to knit it in Canterbury colours lol for our new grandy (I'm a mainlander living in the Waikato) when I have finished this matinee set.
I'll set up the FB page and let you know the link :)

I actually loved the ciculars when I got the hang of it, i had 204 stitches. I bought fancy maybe knit pro needles, they were so smoove to use. I have always been scared of circulars but last year I finally tried double pointeds and loved them. Emily at Knit World taught me to knit socks, now I love knitting them and arm warmers for people with cancer. It makes taking blood easier as there veins stay warm. Bye.

730

Lovely to have you back armin (I hope you're back to stay). I'm ashamed to admit I haven't mastered the magic loop so I feel a bit of a failure in that regard. I can manage knitting on five needles and circulars but find they have to be the right length, but magic loop, I just don't seem able to take it in. Maybe I will have to try again.

Katie, I watched youtube several times, and thought "yes, I've got it" but when I tried, I found I didn't have it at all, so maybe I'll do as you suggest and sit with the knitting and watch and try, rather than watch and then go and try it. Bugs me a bit that others say it's so easy and I can't get the hang of it.

Morning ladies!
Looks like I have missed a fair bit while away. Grr at whoever complained about armin - some people have so much time and so little respect for others. A little crafting thread is a little different from 'my auction number is...' Shame on them!
tc your ensemble is gorgeous! Hope your leg is feeling better :o)
popeye - Bertie is almost as cute as your great- nephew!
Kuaka - keep trying!

My trip away was to meet my newest (born in January) grand-daughter in Wellington....

Welcome home nzmu.. What a beautifull wee girl...Ahhh to be knitting pink... I have this hankering to do beanies again. but I got a new order for a girl doll yesterday, so Im going to be knitting two together. I dont as yet know which girl it is to be, but Ive started the hands anyway cos they are universal so its a start.

Going to be a glorious day here todat by the looks of it. I have a few jobs to do before I can sit and knit.

Like holly I am a lurker on this thread...but a regular contributor to the other one. I am flummoxed as to why someone would get kicked off for showing photos. I got kicked off ages ago...but it was totally right that I did! Actually it wasn't me but muttley. Muttley is the other half. We have been married for 43 years so I should have known better than to let him use my account! The short story is that he used a family member to put a bid on something he was selling...he said there were a lot of watchers and he wanted to see some action! She warned him that if she won he would have to pay success fees but he reckoned he had already paid money...and she did win the auction...and he did have to pay...but the stubborn beggar refused to budge! Eventually I paid what was owing and was re established...but I changed the password! He laughs like muttley about it. Hence his name.

morning, what a gorgoeus wee grandy nzmu :)
Well I've tried to create a group in FB for us to post our pics but it just won't let me. There are supposed to be drop down buttons and there aren't and I ended up getting frustrated and walked away. Maybe someone else could try?
Matinee jacket and hat is done and one bootie three quarters finished. Husbands sighs when he asks me something and I say, just let me finish this row lol. He says it's just like 20 years ago lmao.
I have been lent a pattern (old one) for a rugby jersey and booties with 'sprigs' on it so am going to knit it in Crusaders colours for our new grandy - don't care if baby is a girl lol, she can wear red and black. Daughter is resigned to Crusaders colours lol.
