I reckon you can never have too much wool either

#Post

morning ladies :) Oh cool kuaka, no bluey :) Some people eh.

It's cold here and traffic is still busy for the Field Days, it finishes tomorrow so all good.

The Furry One goes home tomorrow, it's great watching the two of them race round. The Furry One is back to his normal perky self, such a relief.

I have some unpicking to do with my hardanger, I've lost count of how many times I have unpicked this. Once I have the border done though I'll be right.

It's a perfect day for crafting today.

happy knitting :)

Morning everyone..
Wild and woolly here.. a lot of wind, grey sky but it hasn't rained as yet.

MrP is staying in bed, I think hes developing a bad sleep pattern by sleeping late in the morning. means he doesn't need as much sleep at night.
But it does mean I get things done without him underfoot..

Have to go get a postage price this morning so will get a couple of things at supermarket and I shouldn't have to go out again till Tuesday.

I remember years ago Kiwimade we took a friends Hubby to the fielday's. It was foggy and muddy. The coldest day Id ever known. And our friend couldn't understand how much I enjoyed being there. Especially since they had to drag me away from the wood cutting lol. not his wife's seen lol

I tried starting a top down last night using two colours.. Didn't have my brain on.. So will think about it before I start again today.. lol

HAve a good day all

Morning ladies, well it's windy here, but doesn't seem so cold, although it seems to be cooling down from when I first got up, decided the heat pump would suffice today, but might have to light the woodfire later.

Mr K gave me a fright last night. He staggered into the lounge just before I went to bed and said he thought he was having a heart attack, but I questioned him before phoning for the ambulance (which he probably wouldn't have let me anyway) and I gave him some baking soda, he did a big burp and was okay - just indigestion. Honestly men!

Have some sewing to do today and I don't have to go out so that's a bonus, I can stay indoors and knit once I've done the sewing.

Have a good day everyone and keep warm.

Morning

Oh dear Kuaka what a worry Mr K can be - why tell you he is having a heart attack if not allowed to get help lol - but great what a spoonful of soda can do!

Very windy here - had to get up and close the window last night as nearly blown out of bed lol. I always sleep with a window a little bit open no matter how cold it is outside but the wind was a bit too much.

The pile of slippers is growing but need to get more wool as keep thinking of someone else who is due for a pair and once this batch is done I don't want to do more this winter - just hope the sunny and windy weather lasts for next week so I can felt them and get them dry. Probably will turn awful just when I get the last one knitted!!

Happy knitting (or whatever craft you are doing)

morning ladies :) An early start for me this morning as the Fluffy One thought it was a great idea to start barking. Not good when we have neighbours now, and a new baby to boot!

Was a pretty wild night last night but it seems calmer this morning.

last day for Field Days, I loved going to popeye but haven't been for years. Love all the demonstrations and gadgets. There are more and more stalls for women now too. Might go next year and see if there is a wool/yarn stand, I know alpaca breeders go so they may have something.

Happy knitting :)

morning all. field days finished yesterday thank god the city has been mad lots of car crashes, finished the hats now doing a baby jacket. I have a cold and feel yuck

carolev - 2015-06-14 07:36:00
7357

I thought it was quiet on our road! Years ago it finished Sunday lunchtime, makes sense to finish it Saturday, gives the stall holders more clean up time.

Morning ladies, not as windy here either, should have done some washing yesterday but didn't get that far. I altered the curtains for someone else and boy did I struggle with them, they are huge, the windows must be enormous, and they weighed a ton, anyway they are done now, but by the time I'd finished heaving all that fabric around I was knackered. I have also started on new curtains for the spare bedroom, but I ran out of puff before I put clean sheets on our bed with the new underblanket and electric blanket, Mr K was disappointed, but I will do it today before I do anything else.

Just had a message from stepson, he arrives just after 5pm on 2nd July, so not long to wait now.

Have a super day everyone.

Morning everyone

Yes its all over for another year.. Be impossible for us to go now. MrP cant walk far and the uneven ground would make it worse. He would need a mobile scooter to get around.

I didn't do any craft yesterday... Just wasn't in the mood really lol.. Today tho Ive decided to turn some of my punched out hearts and stars as price tags. Will add some tapestry cotton to tie them on with. I might also start putting some ribbons on the mini stockings.. yes that's what Ill do, theres a lot so that will keep me busy while we watch some tv we have recorded. Im not losing things again this time.

Have a good day all.

Morning
The hats are great Carole, they will be so appreciated I'm sure.

Windy again overnight and cold so not keen to get going this morning.

Plodding on with the slippers but got requests for 2 more pairs yesterday. A Niece is moving to Queenstown next month so making slippers for her kids, think they may need them down there. At least children's ones are reasonably quick to do.

Have a good day

morning ladies :) Lovely hats carole, they are lucky kids.

It has been busy in Hamilton with the Field Days and the FIFA Under 20 World Cup.

I'm heading out to the garden, the suns out and I need to start weeding and have a general tidy up after all that wind. We have waxeyes back in the garden so have some sugar water out for them along with dripping and birdseed. They are so tiny!

Will get some crafting done when the rain sets in this afternoon.

Happy knitting :)

Morning ladies, a late start for me today, Mr K woke me at 9.45 and asked if I was "on strike". Cheek. I wouldn't have minded but I'd been awake half the night so still feel half asleep.

Nothing planned really for today. Will probably go to town and check the mail and might try to finish the first curtain for the spare bedroom and hang it. Have washing to do, might do that and get it on the line early - oh that's right, I've missed early, it's been and gone!

I've put a collar with a bell on it around puss' neck to try and give the waxeyes a fighting chance. She sits and waits under the bird feeder and then pounces. I think she is going to take quite a bit of training.

Have a good day everyone.

Morning everyone..

Yup I had a lay in this morning.. Read late last night.

Sunny here with some wind.. My wind twist thingee has come down.. its like a plastic strip that is twisted and when it blows in the wind its rather pretty.
HAve been here 11 years as of Saturday gone and its only the second time its come down. Nylon is rotting lol

Have to go up to Mitre 10 and see if I can get a cheap bedside light. My touch light is turning itself on.. its the second one to do so.. so lets see if the spirits will turn the next one on, Ill get one with a switch on it.

Have a good day all

Morning ladies, another cold morning here, so I've got the heat pump on but I've also lit the fire (which is struggling to get going) but hopefully it will soon be pushing out lots of heat.

I've got four rounds to do on my mobius cowl and hopefully then it will be big enough width-ways - not sure until I cast off if it's going to be the right size lengthwise or if it's too big or too small, anyway it's an experiment 'cos I couldn't find a basic pattern, so if it's not right I guess I'll be frogging and starting again!

Yesterday I finished the first curtain for the spare bedroom, ironed it and hung it so now have one more to do, 'cos at the moment the room sports a turquoise curtain and a gold one. Then I suppose I should finish the ones in our bedroom but they're not so urgent 'cos at least they match, just that I want to make the short one full length and have the fabric but it means I have to make more linings too.

Didn't get around to going out yesterday so will have to nip to town this morning then my usual afternoon out. I have a stack of ironing to do which I might try to do before I go otherwise it will wait another day or so.

Have a super day everyone, and keep warm.

Morning everyone.
A glorious day out there, on the nippy side too...

A niggly back today, which is annoying cos its been quite good just of late.

Im in the mood for sewing so am going to the oppy to see if I can get a couple of nice cushion inserts, I have some upholstery fabric I can turn into cushions.

Didn't knit a lot last night, couldn't find my concentration lol.. Was watching Criminal Minds and trying to concentrate on that so it was spread too thin to knit lol

Have an awesome day everyone

Frosty, washing in machine but back to bed with coffee for a wee while.

Looks like nice day so will felt slippers have one adult and 4 kids ones ready so will get them done but have at least 3 more pairs to do at some stage but think will finish socks and boys jacket first.

Have a happy day

morning ladies :) We have a -2 frost here but it's going to be a gorgeous day.

I was in the classroom yesterday and today I'm off to set a mousetrap behind my sister's fridge lol. She phoned last night to say she had a mouse in her kitchen and she is terrified of them. And I need to drop a jar of marmalade off to Dad's lady friend as a 'thank you' for the grapefruit and 'can I pick some more please'.

Then some crafting this afternoon maybe, I should get the lawn mowed while the weather is fine so might do that as well.

happy knitting :)

kiwimade64 - 2015-06-17 08:24:00
7371

Morning everyone.. No frost here but I don't think it was far off. Nice wet windows so have whizzed around them.. The air in the house is definatly better for not having that water hanging around. And its fun too do, not like its hard work or anything and no cold fingers from doing it either lol

If the suit was for a Ball Carole Id have just hired one.

Lol Sister to the rescue Kiwimade...

I cut the fronts for some cushions yesterday before my Back complained.. So after Ive cut MrP's hair this morning Ill get the backs cut at least.

Looks like it will be a slow job but once they are cut I can sew when in the mood.

Knitting a teal Jellybaby but Im not that fond of the yarn its a bit thinner than normal.. So it might not reach the stall.

Nothing else planned so Have a good day All

popeye333 - 2015-06-17 09:33:00
7372

Morning everyone

Arghhh lol ages since we were up this early lol.. Have drs appointments at 8-30am. Hopefully to do something with my insulin, while its making me feel well its not doing anything with my sugars. And MrP is going to have some skintags burnt off.

Had a productive day yesterday. Actually took the time to figure out the buttonhole foot on my machine. Haven't used it in soo long. But that meant doing 15 buttonholes was a lot faster than normal and they are much nicer too.
I have to sew the fronts to the backs now. And overlock them to make them tidy. Sew the buttons on and that's 5 nice cushions for the stall.

Finished a jelly baby last night too, and am halfway on a coathanger. Ill take it with me this morning, might as well have something to do while we wait. Although the dr we have temporarily while ours is away is pretty much on time usually.
She is South African and lovely. Wish she would stay.

Tis chilly but not sure whats happening outside yet lol

Have a good day everyone

Morning
No sign of frost but it's cold. At least early appointments Popeye don't seem to have as much waiting as later ones might it seems.

Slippers felted up nicely so just have to get them dry now.

Off to help make pet litter today- it's certainly something different to do.

Have a happy day all.

jayemtoo - 2015-06-18 07:36:00
7374

morning ladies :)

Well I found dad had left a trap behind my sister's fridge and it had caught two mice! They must have gone for the bait at the same time. So I emptied and reset the trap and MrK is going to block the hole behind the cupboards where they are getting in.

Am going to try and get some gardening done today, am about a third of the way round the weeding, the ground is so soft from the rain but cold on the fingers even with gloves on.

Then I can get on with some crafting. You certainly sound like you're on a 'roll' popeye with your stall. By the time Christmas comes round you will have lots to sell.

Who do you make the pet litter for jayemtoo?

happy knitting :)

We hired one for our son when he had the school ball to go to and it cost almost as much as buying a suit. From memory, the pants, suit and waistcoat cost around $300 to hire and I had to get it back to the hirer the next day. Cost pretty much the same to hire gowns for our daughter along with hair, and shoes. Luckily between us she had jewellery. But omg it was lovely to see them all dressed up :)

Sell the kitty litter to whoever wants it.

BiL is trying to build up a little business - at the moment it is mainly local catteries as postage adds so much more to it, but do have a few repeat orders from further away.

What is it made out of Jayemtoo? Hard time to be trying to set up a business but hey its something that's always needed eh.

Yep building the stock up nicely Kiwimade, and I haven't got too bored with anything yet, although I had seen enough of the dwarf's by the time I got them knitted.

I didn't take my knitting this morning in the end cos our lady dr is very seldom running late.. And fantastic news, she is staying.. so now we will see her and if shes not in we can see our original..

She has put me on insulin at night time too, so hopefully the sugars will start coming down.
I feel well and have lost 4 kilos, I asked if it was the insulin doing that and she said yes, cos my body is working better now.. So that's a side effect I love lol

Hi Popeye - it is made of all natural ingredients the basis is paper but there are a few other things in it which I'm not sure about. Apparently it is very absorbent and controls odour very well.

Great that the insulin is keeping you well and I guess the weight loss is a bonus as well.

That is a good bargain Carole and should last him a while.

Morning everyone.
Another early start lol, back to the med centre to get the nurse to attack MrP's skin tags.
My blood sugars was lower this morning so the extra dose might just be what I needed.

I finished 2 cushions yesterday. Am quite pleased with them. Taking far more care with them than if they were for us lol. Finished knitting another furry coat hanger cover too. So Im keeping up the stock.

Have an Awesome Day everyone.. Im thinking Ill have a tetchy man later lol

morning ladies :) You got a bargain at that price for the suit carole when you compare it to me hiring one for $300.

Housework and job applications today, then I'll be helping my friend set up her garage sale for tomorrow.

Hoping I can get some crafting done at some stage, I'm still working my way round the border of my hardanger. Slow work but getting there. Now that I have done one side, I don't have to unpick quite so often.

Happy knitting :)

kiwimade64 - 2015-06-19 08:31:00
7383

Morning ladies, where is everyone today? I slept in, Mr K brought me a cup of tea in bed - long time since he's done that!

Looks like being a wet day so perfect to catch up on some crafts - I might cut the second curtain for the spare bedroom and try to do some of it. I took the old one down yesterday and washed it so the bedroom only has one curtain at the window. I also asked my son last night if he could use more curtains (the alternative is to list them on here, probably be lucky to get $15 or $20 for them so would rather pass them on to him). He said he'll have a look at them, so I'll take them with me when I go to visit and let him decide - whether he likes them and whether they fit any of his windows.

I've been in touch with my friend and she said she'd be happy for me to visit for a couple of days but she's away for a short break from 5th July, and son said fine but he's away for a weekend in July he thought the 15th but that's a Wednesday so he's going to let me know when it is, no point visiting if he's not there. So it's just a case of finding dates that suit, hoping it's not pouring with rain and convincing grumps that I need to go. Wish me luck.

Have a super day everyone.

Morning everyone.

Very dark here this morning. and certainly not cold, we both threw blankets off through the night.

A perfect day for crafting, I want to do one more jelly baby then I can make three up at once, and I have three coathangers to make up as well.

Kuaka I have made a second mauve one from the lace you sent. Ill take a photo when done and show you the difference between the white and Mauve.

Got the buy of the century yesterday on here, 40 meters of lace for $12. Even with the postage it works out to be 40 cents a meter, which is under half of most of the shops around. So that will make approx. 13 hangers at least.

Have a fab day everyone.. stay dry and Happy crafting

Morning all

Happy planning Kuaka - it's not always the easiest having to fit in with others but no doubt will be great once organised.

Supposedly doing housework but really not very enthusiastic today.
Going out for dinner tonight - using winter solstice as our excuse but really just felt like doing something different. Usually only go out for birthdays and like so nice change I hope.

Slippers slowly drying it's not cold today but no actual sun just dull and grey looking. Boy's jacket getting there but not very quickly somehow just not got into this particular one but needs to be finished as they are shifting to Queenstown next month.

Happy day

morning ladies :) Hope you manage the getaway kuaka, you certainly need the time away.

So mild here today, at least it has stopped raining. We've turned the heat pump off too and doors are open. I do feel for those who have a massive cleanup to do today.

Might get the ironing done today (shock horror lol) and potter about. I have quite a few old family photos of MrKs to scan so might also make a start on those. He needs to label them so we all know who is who, some are very old and go back to the early 1900s.

happy knitting :)

kiwimade64 - 2015-06-21 08:32:00
7388

Morning ladies, well my friend phoned me yesterday and said it is quite possible that her short trip away is going to fall through but I told her not to pull out on my account, but to take the opportunity and go if she can, and we'll work around it. She's waiting to hear from her brother who is supposed to be taking her and her sister who they are going to visit.

I think I'm about to quit doing crafts altogether after yesterday! I finished the mobius cowl a few days ago but it's twice as long as I wanted it - so I've cast on another using far less stitches - because of the way it's worked it's difficult to know how many stitches to use, so the first one was a complete guess and you can't tell how big it is till you cast off. Then yesterday I decided to do some more of a summer shawlette I'm making (I've already decided I don't really like the way the wool I'm using is knitting up) and then I did a stitch count and on row 54 I'm supposed to have 175 stitches, I have 152. Last time I checked was a dozen or so rows back and the count was correct, so I have no idea where I've gone wrong, so I'm going to frog that. Then I did some sewing - making pockets for a bag I'm making, managed to put my fingers on the hot ironing board cover as I'm ironing them, and burned the backs of my fingers just between the knuckle and nail, one of them has a wee blister. Ouch. Mind you I'm a bit of a sook with things like that. I would have picked some aloe vera if the weather hadn't been so miserable. At least today the sun is shining.

I looked at the curtain fabric on the floor of the family room and looked away again. I didn't feel like curtains yesterday. Maybe tomorrow.

Happy knitting everyone.

Morning everyone,

Oh Kuaka you be carefull re the burns. I got some cream from the chemist. Its called Mebo Cream and its what Middle More Hospital uses in its burns unit. It smells to high heaven but it instantly sooths the burns. no matter how little they are, even steam burns. It wasn't cheap, about $32 but its lasted ages. And always cover burns with glad wrap to keep the air out, Ambos taught me that.

I have a constructing day today. 3 Coat hangers, 3 Jelly babies and depending how I get on I might even make a start on the Dwarf's.

MrP is in bed, said he had a bad night, so best to leave him sleeping.

Dark clouds coming in, so Im pleased I didn't go shopping with my friend, not in the mood to dash through rain lol... Its affecting the tv so it must be bad up there.

Have a good day everyone

morning ladies :) We're supposed to have fine weather right through to Thursday but we'll see. Do feel for those cleaning up after the storms, what a heartbreaking job.

Going to make the most of the weather and get out into the garden. It's an on-again, off-again thing this time of the year. Washing can go on the airer under the windows in the sun. It might be sunny but it's still cold outside. Our lounge is a real sun trap and gets quite warm so it won't take long to dry. Might even be able to turn the heat pump off for a bit today too.

Will get some crafting done this afternoon, still plodding on with the border of my hardanger. Have done two sides and started the third.

happy knitting :)

Morning everyone

Looks like a mixed bag weather wise here.. Have had rain and it was warm through the night.
I have a very sore finger, I guess I sewed a bit too much yesterday, so the arthritic joint ached all night... but I will try and get a little, use it or lose it is my Mantra.

Have to pop up the road and get some photo copying done for a friend so I best rattle me daggs.

Have a good day everyone

popeye333 - 2015-06-22 09:09:00

Morning ladies, well I thought I slept in this morning as it was 8.30 when I woke, but Mr K is still in bed.

I managed to do some sewing yesterday on my Brother industrial - the one that kept snapping the threads last time I used it. I finally figured out that I had the stitch length set too long, so shortened it and it was fine. I did break a needle (grrrr) but that was my own fault. The previous time I used the machine I was using heavier UV treated thread and working on something for the boat, so the long stitch was needed, but not for normal sewing. Wake up Carol!

I will have to go to town later, but before then I want to do a general tidy up and maybe cut out the second curtain for the spare bedroom. I only have till Thursday next week to make it so I must make an effort. Also want to spend some time tidying up my sewing room - it is such a shambles and makes it so difficult to actually do any sewing in there. I wish I had a nice big sewing room with lots of shelving and cupboards, but I guess I'm lucky to have one at all even if it is standing room only!

Right, I'd better press on otherwise it will be lunchtime and I won't even had had breakfast.

Happy knitting everyone.

Morning

Have been up for a while - nice day here sunny but with a cold wind. Have a chicken casserole in the slow cooker for this evening.

Tossing up as to go out into the garden and do a bit of tidying up - weeded under the gooseberry yesterday and despite several layers on I still managed to get some good scratches on my arms lol.

If the wind is too cold I thing a bit of knitting may win over the gardening. Will go for a good walk to the shops this pm so not altogether lazy!

Have a good day

Beautiful photo Kiwimade.. That reminds me I have some dripping to put out too... we get mainly sparrows and finches.

The sun is out here but some chilly wind too..

Kuaka I miss my industrial sewing machine. You can sew with confidence knowing it would handle everything. but sadly when we lived in a bus it just wouldn't fit lol.

Been up the road and came home and tidied the little set of shelves beside my chair. I got a couple of sistema containers to put stuff in. Cos Missy loves to help by dragging it out of the baskets I had it in. So it looks heaps better now.

A quick perusal on here and then Ill get back to the toys.

Going to have to resort stuff in my sewing room too cos Cushions take up space. I should have left them till closer to the stall lol

Morning

Lovely happy photo Kiwimade.
Man it is cold here and I think we are one of the warmer places around the country!

Off to help with Mainly Music soon at least it is warm there as they have the heaters on from quite early. My job is in the kitchen which I like as gives me something definite to do.

My poor sewing machine doesn't get much of a work out these days, used to sew a lot but use it mainly just for mending these days.
Slippers are finally nice and dry so will sew vinyl soles on them later and ready for their new owners.

Have a good - and warm - day everyone

morning ladies :) wow we had a beaut frost this morning but will turn the heat pump off soon as the sun is streaming in and we won't need it on.

The Furry One is back to the vet this morning for his blood test, just making sure his liver is functioning OK with the meds he has to take. Good luck to the vet taking his blood!

Am glad you enjoyed the photo, we get a lot of pleasure from the waxeyes.

Gardening, lawns need mowing and some crafting this afternoon.

Happy knitting :)

Morning everyone.
Lovely white frost here, and I have the heater on.. Got over two tanks of water off the windows and they are fogging up again.. Its such an easy job now and no frozen fingers.

Have to stuff the dolls today.. I got a surprise when I put the coathangers away. Ive done 14 with one coming from Kuaka. It doesn't feel like Ive done that many.. not sure on jelly babies. I have a crateful tho of them both.

Good luck for the Vet, they usually mange to get the things they want lol.

Started knitting snow White last night so will carry on with her later.. Ill get these babies finished first.

Have an awesome day everyone

Morning ladies, not a frost here but flipping cold, I didn't bother with the heat pump this morning and just lit the fire. The heat pump is good but even though we got the biggest one available at the time it still struggles to heat the room when it's really cold, it is a large area, family room, dining room, kitchen and office all in one. The woodfire heats it up once it gets going.

Sadly out naughty puss caught one of our waxeyes yesterday - I didn't tell Mr K, he would have been most upset, I've put an extra bell on her collar this morning. We really enjoy seeing them, they are so tiny and dart around and seem to fight over the food we put out for them, and then regardless of the cold, they take a dip in the bird bath. They usually visit us from May till September, last year they stayed through till November.

I did another coat hanger last night, actually did too many rows between the lace and had to "tink". Bought a new attachment for my sewing machine on here and it arrived yesterday so I tried it out last night. It's for attaching binding and I think I will find it very useful. It didn't work very well last night, well at least the machine wasn't stitching very well - not at all actually - till I realised I didn't have any thread in the needle - oops! Maybe I'll be better once I've had my mini-holiday.

Have a super day everyone.
