Definitely go Kuaka - it's not as if Mr K will be on his own. Sometimes it is a real bonus for others to see how things are at home.

Last year my sister and I went away for a week and left BiL with his sons and came back to the boys having a lot more sympathy with their mother lol.

True jayemtoo - I remember when the kids were little I went away for a few days with a girlfriend, took the kids with me and left first hubby at home. He seemed surprised that when he came home from work there was no tea cooked and waiting for him, and that if he didn't make the bed, it didn't make itself but just stayed unmade. Certainly did him good.

My dr wanted me to have two weeks away when Mum was living with us. Cos I was the meat in the sandwich.. I told him that wouldn't happen cos Id be worried id come home to a dead body.

I also told my cardiologist what stress Id been under too.. And he told me the same.

I had a full day out shopping on my own. I refused to come back early when Id finished shopping. So I was sitting in the car down the road from home for ages.

I loved my day out. I didn't have to think of how the others were coping with walking etc. Met a friend for lunch.

I will always remember that day. And it did me the world of good.

I told them both what both the drs had said, they got a scare to say the least.

We have to look after ourselves, cos no one else will do it.

My parcels have arrived so it feels like Christmas lol

morning ladies :) Another dreary day here but they say it is going to fine up. Need to make a chicken pie for dinner then maybe some quilting if the weather stays bleak. Otherwise, outside for me to finish pruning. Or at least have a good go at finishing.

Then maybe some knitting or hardanger this afternoon if I'm not sewing.

Men are funny creatures sometimes lol, MrK would be fine cooking wise without me but cleaning... sigh...

Happy knitting :)

Morning ladies, thick fog here this morning, but I think it is going to clear soon.

Yes kiwimade, my Mr K would normally cope quite well with the cooking, but not in his current state of health. My Mr K mark 1 was useless!

I managed to knit a very nice coat hanger last night thank you popeye for the pattern and the inspiration, and then spent half an hour searching for the tubing which I knew I had picked up at the op shop a few months back. No luck. So then I decided to have a search through my stash of squares and see if I could finish a few while I'm waiting for my new needles to arrive, and I found the tubing for the coat hanger. Never would have thought of looking in my stash for it. Was sure I'd put it in the sewing room. (Losing the plot maybe)

Oh the fog is definitely clearing, I can see Opua wharf now.

Right, I'd better crack on with the day - I've been up since 5.30 as Mr K disturbed me during the night and I couldn't get back to sleep. I gave the fire a tickle and put some more wood on and it's going nicely, but I might need a nap this afternoon.

Have a super day everyone.

Morning everyone.
In his heyday MrP was good at housework. I was very lucky lol.. And he could cook. But seems to have lost all those skills lol

Blue and grey sky here... Id like to attack the passionfruit but I just don't have the get up and go. Wish my blood would settle. Its like it seems to take more effort to pump it around and leaves my battery flat.

I constructed 6 coat hangers yesterday and I like them. Which is unusual for me cos I never really liked lace knitting or the flurry wool. Ill do pictures later

No Armin I haven't done my hat yet. Ill do that in summer after my stall.. Im fully focused on getting a good stock up.

Sky man is coming today, we haven't been able to series link for nearly a month... Which means I have to be very vigilant with making sure I remember what to record.

Isnt it funny how we are sure something is in one spot, then find it when looking for something else in a different spot lol.

Ill be back to the dwarf today and need one more strip for the napkin rings and some flowers .

Have a good day all.

Morning all

Sun shining, nice and fresh but going to be a good day.
Nearly finished another pair of socks and wool ready for next ones. Somehow the skein had turned into a birds nest during dyeing so took a bit to unwind not helped by visitors arriving when part way through and having to put it down for a while.

Looks good enough to get outside for a bit if tidying up later.

Have a good day everyone

morning ladies, foggy as heck here, a real pea-souper. Hopefully I can get outside soon.

Had to unpick my hardanger twice as I was out by a couple of stitches. Got it right in the end now and seem to be back on track. I made some bird pudding out of dripping and wild bird seed mix as the wax eyes have been hanging around and hung them in a couple of trees. I'm hoping to be able to take some photos of the birds using the closeup bit on the camera.

Will try and get some knitting done today, will see how the day goes.

Happy knitting :)

Morning ladies, was foggy here to start with too but it's cleared now. I've been awake since 3am, up since 4.30, so I think I'll be having a nap this afternoon. Mr K disturbed me and I just couldn't get back to sleep.

I put a piece of banana, apple or mandarin out for our wax eyes and then keep chasing puss away as she eyes them up for a tasty snack!

I've now done three coat hangers. I will have to get more hangers as I have enough lace to do several more but I only bought 5 hangers originally. I'm quite enjoying them as they're a change from the type of things I normally do. Discovered after I'd finished the 3rd one and sewn it on the hanger, that the metal hook is very loose, I've tried to glue it in but I might have to call on Mr K for assistance. Bugger! I shall check that they are firm before I buy the next lot.

I think it's time I had some breakfast and then think about what I shall do today.

Have a super day everyone.

Morning everyone.. Has rained here. But its brilliant sunny out one side and dark rain clouds out the other.

I used a bit of duct tape to hold a lose hook in place Kuaka. I figure they wont be getting wet and its covered so it shouldn't matter.

They are nice and quick to do.. But addictive lol

Ive figured out why Im getting a massive headache on the left side , Ive got a nerve that pinches in my shoulder. So I managed to unpinch it last night. So ill just be aware when I reach out for things. I was imagining that I had a clot or something there. But its good this morning.

Managed to crochet 6 flowers yesterday and that was it. With my friend coming in and the sky man replacing the box.. We lost two whole series.. Our Zoo and When we went to war (or something like that). But he did save us some money cos we didn't have to pay for the replacement box, and he showed me the lead which we can safely unplug from the sky box and put into the Blu-ray player.. So hes saved us money..Yay.

Have to get back to the dwarf today. But I will do a light vacuum first.

Have a fab day everyone

morning ladies. Cold and sunny here but no frost (well not where I am anyway).

So yesterday I asked Mr K to phone and order more firewood for this week and said Monday or Friday would suit me, 'cos Tuesday afternoon and Wednesday morning I'm out, and I plan to go shopping on Thursday. So he got off the phone and said "he'll be here in half an hour!" So then I had to go and put a bolt in the wheelbarrow 'cos about 6 months ago Mr K had removed one so that he could buy some more to replace them as they were all rusty. Course I couldn't get the darned thing to line up, pinched my little finger in the process so that's sore, and struggled like crazy. Couldn't get it all the way in but enough to hold it together. Then I had to help unload the firewood, wheelbarrow it across the section to where we store it then stack it all. By the time I had done that I was knackered, especially having had no sleep worth mentioning that night.

So last night I fell asleep in the chair, saw no tv, and went to bed in the spare room and slept like a log (pardon the pun) all night.

Hope to get some knitting done today.

Have a super day everyone.

Morning
Nice frost here but promise of lovely day now.

Hope you are feeling well rested now Kuaka, it is surprising what a good nights sleep can do.

Off out this am for a few messages then an appointment this pm but have a bit of crochet ready to take in case there is a wait at any stage. Don't really like doing crochet as have to watch it all the time but is easiest to take in my bag.

Have a good day

Morning everyone.
No frost here but Ive Vacc'd the windows already. Its amazing how much water you can collect every day.
Have to pop up the road at some stage today for more drinks.

I had a warfarin flat battery yesterday and slept for 2 hours in the afternoon and thawed out.

Otherwise back to my knitting. I did very little on the weekend. Still working on the 6 dwarf. I am starting to get a little bored with them. But have left the pink one till last, I enjoy knitting pink.

Have an awesome day everyone

morning ladies :) The Furry One has given us one heck of a fright and had a seizure at 2.00am so it's off to the vet first thing this morning. Thank goodness he sleeps with us so we were there with him and for when he came too. He's very quiet this morning, even the bin man only got a token bark.

Off to my sister's today as the washing machine repair man has the part to fix it.

Happy knitting :)

kiwimade64 - 2015-06-09 08:09:00
7318

Back from the vets and the Furry One is in 'hospital' for the day so they can do blood tests and other testing but the most likely thing is he's epileptic. We will have to wait and see what the results are first. If it is epilepsy then he will need to have 'regular' seizures of one a month before he is put on life long medication and liver tests. Will pick him up this afternoon :)

Better start packing my knitting as I suspect I will have a long wait for the washing machine repair man at my sisters.

Morning everyone.
Oh Kiwimade that's not good re the furry one. Hopefully he can be sorted out. Its never the same when they aren't home eh.
I struggle with food in the winter Carole, I like my winter carbs.

Ive lost my knitting Mojo. but am plodding along. Making myself knit.

Im keeping a secret lol... One of MrPs nephews who used to live with us, so is like a son has sent him a present to lift his spirits. A baseball cap from the Burt Monroe museum re the Fastest Indian which is MrP's fave movie. Told Nephew that I wouldn't tell MrP that there was a surprise coming cos he wouldn't sleep till it got here. So Im the one losing sleep lol.

Hes going to be really emotional when it arrives. He will probably cry with a smile on his face. But Im struggling with keeping it a secret lol

Have a good day everyone

The Hat has arrived.. And I do have one very emotional man.. I knew he would cry and be happy and blown away all at once.

Hes calmed down a lot which is good cos it brought on some chest pain and a violent shake too.

Hes been trying to get hold of his Big brother to skite lol. And hes not home lol

popeye333 - 2015-06-09 10:26:00
7321

That's awesome popeye.

Sorry to hear about the furry one kiwimade. I hope it's a one-off and not the start of ongoing treatment.

Was a real thick fog here this morning, but now it's lovely and sunny, cold though. I've lit the woodfire and now it's all toasty warm indoors.

Have to go out shortly to put petrol in the car amongst other things, going to see if they have any wooden coat hangers at the $2 shop, I need some more. I've discovered that the holes in the eyelet lace vary quite a lot in the spacing, so some take lots more lace than others. I thought I'd bought enough to do 5 comfortably (turns out I had six different colours anyway) but I have enough to do at least twice that many.

My afternoon out so I'd better get cracking.

Have a super day everyone.

well the diagnosis is in and yep, we have an epileptic dog. Any more seizures and it's medication for him. Boy is he happy to be home lol.

never got to do my knitting as the repair guy was waiting for me. He put the new part in my sister's washing machine, started it up and it went bang lol. So now she has a loan machine and is waiting for a another new part!

I suspect I won't get any knitting done this evening either as I have the Furry One wanting to be a tad closer than usual. Am very proud of him though, they didn't need to muzzle him to take blood and the vet still has her hand!

kiwimade64 - 2015-06-09 17:05:00
7323

aw kiwimade, that's good news and bad about the furry one, good that they found out so quickly what it is and that he didn't need to be muzzled, but not so good about the possibility of meds.

Doesn't sound so good about the washing machine either.

Going to try to do some knitting tonight.

Morning ladies, got up to a cold foggy morning so I made a cup of tea and took it back to bed along with my iPad and knitting. I suppose I shall have to get up again soon and face the day. Puss is curled up by my feet so she seems to have forgiven me for tapping her on the nose for catching the silver eye on Sunday - she wasn't talking to me yesterday!

Have a good day everyone

Morning
Like you Kuaka I've been up just long enough to get a coffee and back to bed with iPad and knitting - now I want another coffee but not keen on getting out into the cold again! Oh well got to get up anyway lol.

Hope the furry one keeps ok Kiwimade.

Have started on another batch of slippers as ones made for niece were too big much to the delight of her husband who quickly claimed them. If making one pair may as well make several so they get felted at the same time. Will make some children's ones this time I think.

Have a good day

jayemtoo - 2015-06-10 08:10:00
7326

morning ladies :) Another visit to the vet this morning I think. The Furry One had another seizure last night on the couch, and tried to jump off the couch when it was all over. His legs gave out from under him and I think he has hurt his back legs. Also want to get those meds for him, he is just so confused.

Field Days are on, traffic has been going steadily by since 6.00am. Typically it's raining too.

Will have a quiet day to day, no stress or excitement here because of the Furry One so perfect to sit and craft. We have to try and keep him calm - calm and Jack Russell don't quite go together lol.

Happy knitting :)

kiwimade64 - 2015-06-10 08:21:00
7327

Morning everyone.

Not good news re the furry one Kiwimade. My comp had a hissy fit last night or id have known sooner. How old is he? Good he wasn't snappy at the vet. He must have known he wasn't well and resigned himself to things happening.

Not soo cold here this morning.

Another quiet day today. MrP is still happy about his base ball cap.

I got quite a lot done on the last dwarf yesterday.. Only have to finish the scarf and do the skirt of his jacket and Im done.

So will have a change later. Wont do Snow white just yet. I want to build up the coat hangers etc.

Gosh keeping a jack russel down would be like tying a rainbow down. lol.

HAve a good day everyone

popeye333 - 2015-06-10 09:55:00
7328

He's four and a bit popeye, so still a young dog. Have picked up his meds, half a tablet twice a day for life unless the dosage changes of course. He has certainly perked up and back to his usual self. I know people take a while to recover from seizures so recovery time for dogs must be similar.

I'm about to prepare some citrus fruit for marmalade then will do some stitching. The peel and pith have to soak overnight to soften, been ages since I've made marmalade!

kiwimade64 - 2015-06-10 13:17:00
7329

Ohh he is a young fella Kiwimade.. Lets hope the meds keep him well.

I haven't made marmalade for years.. I used to make it for stalls etc. I love the smell lol

Im about to go off and finish the skirt of the tunic on the last dwarf then one buckle to make and they are done.. I am over the dwarf's now lol.. Have to sew them all up yet but there's plenty of time.

popeye333 - 2015-06-10 13:25:00
7330

afternoon ladies, my needles arrived from loveknitting today, so keen to assemble them and try them out, they look lovely if nothing else. Went to knit and natter - it was quite cold there and there's weren't as many as usual, but one lady had brought in a sheet she'd printed off about yarn bombing. My feelings are "it looks good, but to me it's a waste of time, effort and yarn". One of the pics was of knitted cobwebs, and one lady said "oh the cobwebs look good, they'd be easy to do". I said "I've got enough cobwebs at home without knitting the things!" Everyone laughed.

Home made soup is ready for lunch then I might sweep the dining room floor and then cut out a curtain for the spare room. Step son sent a message yesterday that he arrives on 3rd July and I'd like to get new curtains made for his room, and then I can take the old ones down to my son if he wants them.

Good luck with the dwarfs popeye, hard to finish something when you're sick of doing it.

kuaka - 2015-06-10 13:34:00
7331

Ohh wow I bet the temptation to stop everything and try the needles Kuaka.. Hope you like them.
I don't have any flash needles, but I have made myself short needles over the last year or so.
I toddle off to MrPs shed and use his wire cutter to cut the ends off the needles then stop in my craftroom on the way bac to the lounge getting beads to stick on the ends. One good spot of glue and Im set.. they are about 15cms I think lol. I haven't actually measured them. but for all the small things they are soo much easier to use.

Yay the 7th dwarf is finished. I was sick of doing them, but I cant just leave something unfinished... especially with it being an important part of a set.

And Ive spent the last couple of hours measuring laces and winding a long one onto some cardboard , ready to do coat hangers. Ive started a white and a pretty lime green. Ive shortened the row by 3 stitches too. id prefer if they were a little wee bit tighter on the hanger. So fingers crossed all will be ok.

popeye333 - 2015-06-10 15:48:00
7332

morning all well 3 hats done 3 to go then I get money also doing a baby's jacket, plus walking

carolev - 2015-06-11 07:29:00
7333

morning ladies :) Ohh nice kuaka, I'd be wanting to stop and use them too.

The Furry One is still asleep, 12 hours is not right for a jack Russell. So another call to the vet I think. I know this medication will make him drowsy and takes a while to work through his body but I think the dosage is way to high.

The road is really busy with Field Days traffic so not going far today. Will be a nightmare to get across the road. So crafting, some housework and job applications.

happy knitting :)

kiwimade64 - 2015-06-11 08:00:00
7334

Morning
I do hope the Furry One picks up again quickly, I guess like people it can take a bit of trial and error to get medicine doses just right.

How are the needles going Kuaka? It took me a little while to get the tightening sorted but just love my needles now - also broke 2 the first week I had them so quickly learnt to be more careful than I had been with the steel lined ones had been using lol.

Lovely day here so planning to walk to skeins later as run out of wool for slippers. At least if I walk I limit how much I buy!

Have a good day

jayemtoo - 2015-06-11 08:11:00

Morning ladies, well no fog this morning, no wind so far and it doesn't feel as cold as it has been - although I believe that is about to change.

Yes kiwimade, 12 hours sleep doesn't sound right for a dog, I'm sure my cat could do it but not a Jack Russell.

Jayemtoo, I used to walk to the shops once upon a time to get my groceries, having to carry everything certainly meant I didn't buy anything that wasn't needed.

Popeye, I have found that the length of lace you need for a hanger varies hugely depending on the spacing and size of the holes, where the pattern may say you need 3 metres, what you need is a set number of holes. If the pattern says 70 stitches and you do the lace on 3 of the rows, then you need 210 holes. I've cut my remaining lace into lengths of 68 holes, and the difference in lengths is amazing. The ones with the holes close together aren't as frilly as the ones where the holes are wider apart.

Shopping today so I had better get cracking.

Oh and I love my new needles, although I was reluctant to use the key to tighten them at first and found they were coming undone, so used the key and they are fine. Must remember not to sit on them!

Have a good day everyone.

Morning everyone.. grey skys here. Not cold tho. Its lovely.

Yayay I am a lot happier knowing the dwarf's are done... My Question is why couldn't she just have 3. 7 is being plain greedy lol.

I have always preferred metal needles. I don't like anything with bend in it. I did try bamboo for a while but gave up on those too.

Ohh yes 12 hours sleep for the Fury one is excessive. Kiwimade a friend with a JR has asked what happens during a fit as she thinks maybe her older one was fitting.

Shopping this morning, and I have to drive. Id be fine walking there, wouldn't enjoy coming home as its up hill lol. And couldn't with MrP anyway.

Your right re the lace Kuaka. I count them too. Im doing my lace ones to 65 holes making it a firmer stretch. And Ive dropped the rows on the flurry ones back to 90 for a firmer fit too.

Well best get myself sorted.

Have a good day everyone

She would know it when she sees it popeye, Bandit was lying on his side, like he was sleeping but omgg his poor body was 'paddling' like crazy, his jaws clamped shut. I know dogs dream and their little legs go like crazy as if they are chasing rabbits but this had a different 'tone' to it. The last seizure he had he was conscious and was foaming at the mouth. When he finished seizing, he was unable to support himself on his legs for quite a while and was very disorientated and dazed. He was also very tired afterwards and 'out of sorts'. Needed lots of reassurance and cuddles. Ohhh and he was shaking like crazy, more than he usually does. Our vet has given me some valium to use if he seizes for over three minutes. If you friend thinks her dog is doing this, she needs to contact her vet. She also needs to take note of the date, time the seizure started and the length of time it took. She also needs to record what the dog was doing, sleeping, playing, running etc. This will build a pattern up. Hope this helps your friend. It's pretty much like a person having a seizure, very similar.

Ohh wow that would be heart breaking to see.. Poor Bandit..

I will pass this info onto her Kiwimade. I don't think that her older boy did that. but it will mean she knows what to look for Just in case.

Hopefully the Valium will help.. poor boy.. and Poor mum and dad too

yeah, it was pretty frightening at the time but you have to remain calm and quiet so he isn't frightened any more than he already is.

Well the halving the dosage seems to have done the trick, he is much happier and perkier. My sister's westie, The Fluffy One, is staying for a few days and omg, lol, they are racing round like crazy. Have never been so happy to see this!

Time for some knitting I think :) Will do dishes later on.

Morning

Good to hear that Bandit is brighter again, I'm sure having a friend to visit would help too lol.

Was very good when went to Skeinz and only brought what I went for - good self control for once!

Finished 2 pairs of slippers, have a couple more to do before felting as I like to do them in batches but as only doing small ones this time it is a lot quicker just hope some man doesn't feel that they desperately need a pair this year.

Another nice day coming up it seems although rather windy at moment.

Have a good day

Happy knitting :)

Morning everyone

So pleased to hear Bandit is back to normal per sae.. Having company will cheer him up. and I guess things worry them like we get worried, so his visitor may have taken his mind off things.

Dark here but that's ok. MrP had a lot of coughing last night so is staying in bed.
Im up to the shops shortly to do the banking I didn't do yesterday and get a battery for his watch.. They are all flat but I can only get into the back of one lol

I tried a coat hanger with the really pretty lace I got and its too long looked horrible. Have one lace too narrow and no more to use so will have to wait I think till we go up to the super clinic and get some at spotlight.

Nothing else exciting here today soo far..

Have a good day everyone

Morning ladies, looks like being another nice day but a bit cool so I've lit the fire, Mr K is still in bed, he wasn't well last night.

Yesterday I went to Keri for groceries, also bought the cat a fancy cat bed which she won't look at, another 4kg gas bottle so I can change the gas bottle on the stove when it runs out without having to involve Mr K (it was so easy last time - should have done it years ago), also bought him a new electric blanket for his side of the bed (I don't like them, prefer my hottie) and a new woolrest type underblanket 60% off yesterday at Briscoes, $80 down from $199, then went to buy myself some clothes and couldn't find anything I liked.

Came home Mr K had done the dishes, and then I discovered some twerp has given me a blue face for a good and successful trade, because I don't have my surname on my payment instructions and I didn't respond to an email which I never received. So now my perfect trading record has a blemish on it. Grrrrr!

Didn't do any knitting last night as I fell asleep in the chair. I have a couple of sewing jobs to do for someone so that will take care of some of today, and Mr K is keen for me to put the new underlay and electric blanket on the bed even though it doesn't need clean sheets yet, so I "might" do that.

If it stays nice I might walk to town just for the exercise. We'll see.

For those of you who know me by name, there's a nice pic of Mr K and me on facebook, his grandson put it on there - it's quite old though!

Happy knitting everyone.

Housework is done and just waiting for the kettle to boil. Omg kuaka, talk about being picky! Pity you couldn't put a bluey on their feedback but that would just lower you to his/her level.

Suns out, just as I was beginning to regret turning the heat pump off.

Kettle's boiled, time for some 'me time'.

Kuaka ask TM to remove the blue. That's being totally unfair.. and petty.

MrK is going to be snug as a bug now. Ill look at pic soon.

Ive been up the road. Played jeweller putting new batteries in two watches. Done a mountain of dishes. Cut bottles for the napkin rings and taped them ready to cover.. All with Missy's help lol

MrP is finally up and has eaten..

So now Im all prepped to sit and construct coat hangers and napkin rings.

I did ask tm to remove the blue, but no response - they don't get involved in feedback issues unless there is threats or bad language I believe. I did email the stupid person and said that I couldn't understand her thinking when she says it was a successful trade and a good trade overall to then give me a blue and she replied that it was how she felt about the trade because she reckoned she'd had trouble depositing the money (a whole $9 - $6 for the item and $3 for postage) to my account because my payment instructions don't include my surname! and also because I didn't have the common courtesy to respond to an email which I never received. I replied that I would have preferred to have received no feedback than to have an unfair blue, and she said that she always places feedback as it's just common courtesy. I hope her pursuit of common courtesy gets her a red before long - karma.

I've done heaps of trades, and there's been no communication at all between the two parties, other than the payment instructions and the address.

No point stressing over it - worse things happen at sea.

Puss is sitting beside her new cat bed - I've put her in it a couple of times and she's stayed there a couple of minutes, and then jumped out, but as I speak she has her front paws in it and she is pumping it. She's now making herself comfy and is curled up in a ball with her head up her bum! Success maybe.

I feel so much better now that pesky blue has gone - silly really I suppose, but I felt it was unjustified. If I'd really done something wrong and sent the wrong item or drastically overcharged her on the postage then fair enough, but to say it was a good successful trade and give a blue face - maybe the wrong time of the month for her, or she's just had a fight with her partner. Who knows. It's gone. I'm happy and I blacklisted her and so has a friend. She won't do that to me again.
