That is beautiful Kiwimade-looks very tricky to knit.

thank you ladies :) Marywea, cables aren't as hard as they look and the blackberry stitch is more fuss than anything. It's knitted in long strips and I crocheted them together on the wrong side as my crocheting is quicker than sewing and I make a tidier finish this way.

And yep popeye, it went through my mind to sell it but MrK loves it lol so I guess it's a keeper. I really have no idea of a price anyway.

That is lovely Kiwimade - a real work of art and heirloom.

morning ladies :) Thank you jayemtoo, I'm very happy with it.

More pruning to do today, want to make the most of the fine weather. But I'll wait for the frost to go first, it's a beaut this morning. My sister is coming for tea so I'll make a casserole in the crockpot, must remember to put the roasting bag in this time as it save a lot of cleaning up!

I pottered about on my 10 stitch blanket last evening, am just using leftover bits so it's pretty itsy-bitsy but I'm not too fussed. It serves a purpose of using up those odds and ends and I get something useful at the end of it all.

Happy knitting :)

Morning
Another nice day here, not sure what will eventuate, have enough things to keep me out of mischief but in what order I do them will be"wait and see" lol. Quite like days like that occasionally.

Have made a couple of bitsy10 stitch blankets and they turned out ok and I'm sure the babies who got them didn't complain.

Must finish some fingerless gloves today, have a couple of things on the go and they are being neglected but need to be finished so at least that is one thing for today.

Have a great day everyone

Morning... Just lol... Stupid computer was having a hissy fit this morning .

Had a doozy frost on the car this morning.. And lost of lovely condensation on the bedroom windows. Only took minutes to dry them off with the vac.

Been up and done the shopping.. Have to go back later to the oppy , cos the lace lady will be there about 1pm. And to post a parcel.

Im currently alternating the things Im making so I don't get bored. In my week I aim for One dwarf, 1-2 jelly babies, 6 napkin rings and 1-2 coathanger. Hopefully Ill get plenty of lace today to keep me going, mind you as long as I get one done a week Ill have a good supply for the stall. And I wont have to buy more hangers for a while.

Must see what the heck I have done with my fingerless mittens, my hands were frozen this morning. I know they are all in a bag together, but couldn't find them this morning...

Have a good day everyone

Morning ladies, off to the hospital this morning - Mr K has to undergo a procedure which he is not looking forward to, and he's had to be on a strict diet for the last 3 days and nothing at all since midnight, so I will be discreet when I eat my breakfast as I'm sure he's starving. Hopefully after this we will find out what is causing him so many problems.

As it looks like I will have to wait quite a while I shall take my knitting, but I think I will also take the opportunity to pop to Arthurs Emporium and Spotlight, not that I need anything much, (but I've written a wee list!)

Have a super day everyone.

morning ladies :) Good luck to your MrK, kuaka, hope it all goes well. And as for the list... I do the same!

I have a huge pile of vintage linen that was mum's. And most of it hasn't seen the light of day for 50 years and never used. Am soaking tea towels (they are massive and pure linen!) in napi san to get rid of the age stains. There are gorgeous table cloths and pillow cases which I may tuck away into my quilting stash and maybe quilt them. Then they can be enjoyed for all to see.

So that will be my day today along with some knitting :)

Happy knitting :)

Morning everyone.. Good luck to MrK... Thankfully he wont remember any of it, but will be a tad uncomfortable afterwards.

Ohh Kiwimade I love old linen. Would be lovely to have it all made into something usefull.

Im off to post some wool this morning then home to bake. MrP is eating through way too many brought biscuits so Ill make him some shortbread to slow him down a bit.

Then crafting this afternoon. Got the lace from the oppy wasn't much but enough to do another coathanger.

I have a growing list for spotlight too, but at the mo people on facebook are helping me out so that's cool.

Doozy frost again this morning. MrP always says we get 3 frosts in a row then rain. So another frost tomorrow to come. but at least its a beautiful day.
And I found my fingerless mittens Yay

Have a good day everyone

Morning all
Another lovely day so have stripped beds - even doing duvet covers so hope all dry ok.

Hope Mr Ks procedure goes well and they find out what his problems are Kuaka.

Love old linen too - had a pile inherited from various relatives so have used quite a bit of it, but not the damask table cloths or anything which needs starching and ironing lol.

Got a bit of knitting done yesterday but seem to have slowed down a bit at the moment will just have to find something to really get me going again. Perhaps I had better dye the rest of the sock wool I have while it is so nice.

Happy crafting

Afternoon ladies, well we're home again - he said it was painful but not as bad as he had expected, and the good news is he doesn't have bowel cancer - I think he's just basically worn his body out! (but don't tell him I said that!!)

It didn't take as long as we thought, but I managed to zap to Arthurs (for buttons of course) and I was just paying for my goodies when the nurse phoned and said Mr K was sitting having a cup of tea and a sandwich and could then go home and at that stage I hadn't been to spotlight, so I quickly zapped to Spotlight (it's just round the corner from Arthurs) and got a much needed row counter as mine seems to have gone awol, and I managed to get a park at the hospital back in the same spot that I'd left. Couldn't believe it.

And it rained all the way home, so a slow trip, but we're home now and very relieved with the news. Mr K has had a celebratory nip of whisky and I'm about to have a glass of wine.

Happy knitting everyone.

kuaka - 2015-05-29 16:09:00
7263

Awesome News Kuaka. Relief all around.

Maybe MrK might stop worrying soo now and perhaps make more effort of living life a bit more.
MrP is relieved I called the super clinic to see whats happening about him, even tho they haven't called back. But I knew it would be too late in the day.
Have baked today. Enjoyed it and its in the freezer now. So puts temptation out of the way and also slows down the consumption on MrPs behalf.
Had some lace delivered to me from a lady in Pukekohe whose workmate lives out here.. Such pretty lace. And Im not a frill girl. Will make lovely coathangers.. And have arranged a large amount to get next week of coathangers, tubing and lace. So that's all going to keep me out of trouble and away from spotlight lol.

HAve the arms to do on the jelly baby I started last night. HAve cut the plastic for some more napkin rings. Will do the arms and the rings tonight. Then another coathanger tomorrow.

Stay warm everyone its meant to be rather cold tonight

popeye333 - 2015-05-29 16:28:00
7264

That's good news Kuaka re Mr K - also that you managed to get to both places as well lol.

Quieter day today but managed to dye 3 lots of sock wool but it's not dry yet so will have to be patient before seeing how it knits up! Will keep on with the small boys jacket in the mean time.

7266

morning ladies :) That's good new for your MrK kuaka, it could be the 'turnaround' he needs.

Well done carole, no easy feat eh.

Back outside today, I want to make the most of the fine weather and keep pruning and the damed lawns need mowing again. Had another beaut frost this morning so will wait for a bit before I venture out. Got all mum's linen washed, dried and mostly ironed. Took pretty much all day to do.

Not working on anything in particular at the moment, just pottering away with the 10 stitch blanket.

Happy knitting.

7267

Morning everyone.. Another glorious day out there. no frost this morning.

I enjoyed baking yesterday, and most is in the freezer. Finished another 6 napkin rings last night. So will take photos later.

Have to pop up the road this morning to post another "swap". Then Im going to knit coat hanger covers. Have a load of washing on that might even get outside today lol.

MrP got the weeds "Sprayed" with his new watering can, much easier for him to use. Although I expect damage on the plants.

Put my blue/lemon patchwork blanket on the bed last night.. Was soo lovely and warm and cos its heavy is stayed in one spot. Missy likes it too lol

Have a good day everyone

7269

morning ladies :) Gosh it got hot here yesterday in our living room, turned the heat pump off and opened doors but still got to 26 degrees. Love north facing homes.

Housework today and maybe some sewing. I have some old family letters I need to scan and store digitally too so could do that if MrK doesn't hog the laptop lol. He loves his movies on You Tube, has been finding all the old classics. Will hook the laptop up to the TV for him (must show him how to do it) so he can watch it on the bigger screen. Bought him a wireless headset so he can lax out on the couch and watch and I can have my music on. Win win for us both.

happy knitting :)

kiwimade64 - 2015-05-31 08:30:00
7270

Morning ladies, yes a north facing home would be great, sadly ours faces south but that's where the fantastic view is - the north facing homes with views were out of our price range, but with our woodfire and heat pump we don't put up with the cold - it just costs us a bit.

Not as cold this morning as it was yesterday but it's absolutely hosing down, puss is looking most peeved 'cos I won't let her out in it, she'd need galoshes and an umbrella, so it looks like the perfect day for crafting.

Have to figure out how to graft my cowl today, I looked at it yesterday and discovered that although I had cast on 48 stitches with the provisional cast on, when I came to transfer the stitches to a needle I could only find 47 and I'm blowed if I can see where there's one missing. I think I am losing the plot.

Have a good day everyone.

kuaka - 2015-05-31 08:38:00

Morning everyone.
Clouded over this morning. And not soo cold.

Wireless headphones are great, I use them in the bedroom if Im watching tv. But just this morning Ive covered the tv as I haven't used in it ages. I should turn it off at the wall. A total waste of power.

I did two coathanger covers yesterday. One lot of lace from the oppy was 3 holes short on each piece so I just knitted the first and last stitch and doubled up once in the middle, and it wont be noticeable when I sew it up.

Started another dwarf last night.. I will have a mountain of sewing up to do when finished lol. I might even do some hand sewing on hearts today, haven't done any for ages.

We realised this morning that Missy must think its my alarm that is ticking, where its my heart valve, cos MrP showed her his alarm and she wasnt interested in it. When I first had the op done Millie and Bob weren't fans of the ticking that I do lol.. Thank god I cant hear or it would drive me potty. I hate ticking clocks.

Have an awesome day everyone

popeye333 - 2015-05-31 09:42:00
7272

lol popeye, MrK couldn't sneak up on me for years as I could hear his ticking. Don't hear it now though :)

kiwimade64 - 2015-05-31 11:20:00
7273

Lol Kiwimade. MrP has exceptional hearing, and hears me all the time. I had to listen to my SIL's so I could know what I sounded like lol

after noon all busy knitting have order for 6 hats boring

carolev - 2015-05-31 15:38:00
7275

Repetitive work can get boring eh Carole. That's why Im doing several different things at once. Cos Im doing a set of snow white and the dwarf's. But Im doing other stuff as well so I don't get bored

popeye333 - 2015-05-31 15:48:00
7276

I had my cutting mat and rotary cutter out this afternoon to cut some fabric for bias binding, MrK had a bit of fun using my rotary cutter lol. I now have lots of little pieces of scrap fabric!

Will get some knitting done this evening, need to find a pattern for toddler's gloves so might spend some time on ravelry. The patterns I have are for older children and adults.

kiwimade64 - 2015-05-31 16:51:00
7277

morning ladies :) Wet and soggy here, perfect for crafting. I'll be scanning some old letters today so I can return the box. Found some old photo negatives in it too so will check out if they can be developed.

Found a glove pattern for our grandy so will make a start on that and have some sewing to finish. Never a dull moment round here :)

Happy knitting :)

Morning everyone.. We have sun on one side of the house and dark heavy clouds on the other. So mixed bag today I think.

I started a furry coat hanger last night... Massive error in it.. Said to knit 20 rows. Well with my tension it takes 100 rows lol... someone obviously didn't Proof read it lol.

Back to a dwarf today. The hat and the little bits to be done. Then more coat hangers.

Ohh have to shorten a pair of MrPs trackies too, so I best not forget. Or Ill hear about it lol..

Have a good day everyone

popeye333 - 2015-06-01 09:03:00

Morning ladies, sunny but there's some cloud too and it's cool, so heat pump is on.

I decided last night that I would graft the two ends of my mobius cowls together (I've made two), what a nightmare. I googled how to do it, I managed to do one of them, but the other one I tried three times and gave up. The provisional cast on of 48 stitches was only 47 stitches when I undid the provisional yarn - don't ask me how that happened, I can't find a dropped stitch and for some reason the 2 x 2 rib had 3 knit stitches together on the first row. I will persevere with it, but it's not easy and it's not tidy, so I think if I do another I will have to master the mobius cast on. Grrrr! I'm not so sure that I do like a challenge any more. Maybe I'll try to do the mobius cast on today. I'm not planning on going out and it's too wet to do any gardening (what a great excuse)

Have a good day everyone.

kuaka - 2015-06-01 09:09:00

morning ladies, another wet and soggy day here. I need to get to the supermarket lol, oh great.

Managed to get some sewing done but bugger all knitting. Might just pick up my hardanger again for a while just for a change.

Happy knitting :)

7281

morning ladies, very damp here too kiwimade, I finally joined my second mobius cowl yesterday afternoon, what a mission. That is definitely not on my list of things to do again.

Have to get myself organised soon as I have to pop to town this morning and it's my afternoon out. Mr K is still in bed (hope he gets up today, he spent all day yesterday in bed) I'm hoping he will supervise the cooking of the piece of pickled pork I plan to have for tea, otherwise I will have to rethink what we're going to have.

Have a super day everyone despite the weather.

Morning everyone.. Grey here too, no rain yet tho. Not cold by any means

Was to go out for morning tea this morning but MrP isn't right, he just about keeled over yesterday so Im keeping an eye on him.

It is a while since you have talked about the hardanger Kiwimade.

Ill finish my third flurry coathanger cover today and hopefully get a whole jelly baby done.

Im getting tubing this week so will make the hangers up once that arrives.

Have a good day everyone

had to put crafts on hold while the renos were being done and I was painting popeye. Was either too tired (crashed out on the couch lol) or there was too much dust from walls being demolished or me sanding walls.

Just waiting for MrK to come home so I can get groceries and house sit my sister's home. The washing machine repair guy is supposed to be coming today to fix her machine - was meant to be there Friday. Will take something to do with me while I wait :)

kiwimade64 - 2015-06-02 10:53:00
7284

Ohh that's right Kiwimade, how soon we forget these things.. Dust would have been horrible for it

Ive had a relaxing morning. MrP has decided since he doesn't work or do anything much that a bird bath will do every odd day. So that makes my time easier. yesterday scared him a bit I think.

The courier came while I was in the shower this morning (really late lol) and I have a lovely bag of yarn from Jordy.. Thank you Shirley.. It will all be used that's for sure.

Finished the coathanger I was knitting, while watching a show about a very early double murder in USA.. Missed a bit in the middle when my Brother rang to check on MrP.. So will do some hunting on here.

We have liquid sunshine at the mo.. lol

popeye333 - 2015-06-02 12:09:00
7285

Morning
Not as cold today. Hope MrP is ok again Popeye.
Have had a couple of busier days so will take it a bit easier today and perhaps get a bit more knitting done. Do have to go out this am as getting low on a few things but that shouldn't take long.

Have fun with your crafts

7286

Morning ladies, it was sunny but cool when I got up but now it's raining and looking almost foggy up the harbour. I'm over this winter already and it has only just started!

Knit and natter this morning. I will take my capelet and mobius cowl along to show the others, and I might start a blanket to take with me, anything as long as I don't have to concentrate too hard.

Very tired this morning even though I slept well, so I think a lazy day is called for - oh that's right, I have them most days. Maybe I'm just getting old and lazy.

Have a good day everyone.

kuaka - 2015-06-03 07:52:00
7287

morning ladies :) We had an awesome storm last night, lots of thunder and lightening.

Have a few things to do today, have to find a home for all this extra linen. Some of it is going into my quilting stash and the rest will have to be squashed into my teeny hall cupboard. The one thing I miss ffrom our home in town is the walk in linen cupboard. Will take some of the valances to the Sallies along with some duvet covers my sister doesn't need anymore.

If the weather clears up I need to finish the pruning, if not, it's some sort of craft work for me.

Happy knitting :)

kiwimade64 - 2015-06-03 07:57:00
7288

Morning everyone.. we had an impressive storm.. Love a good storm. lol

I too have to pop out in it. Need milk and potatoes, so not something I can go without for too much longer.

I have three jelly babies to sew up now, so will do that today and finish the coat hanger cover I started last night..

MrP is feeling a lot better today. The aching is easing...

HAve a good day all

Wish my other half was getting better, he seems to be getting worse.

kuaka - 2015-06-03 10:29:00
7290

Oh Kuaka that's not good to hear... Wonder if he needs some anti depressants to perk him up and then he will try and live life, instead of it passing him by.
I had to get very tough with MrP almost bullying him into living.

popeye333 - 2015-06-03 12:13:00
7291

Well I didn't stay long at knit and natter, not only did I not feel very chipper it was flipping cold there, but when I got home Mr K was at least up - he was still in bed when I left - and he's had some lunch, but he's not well and if I mention the doctor he will just tell me to get stuffed. One of the ladies fell in love with one of the cowls I had taken to show them, and bought it so that was a bonus.

kuaka - 2015-06-03 13:17:00
7292

Oh dear Kuaka I do hope you feel brighter soon (and warm) also that Mr K improves or at least sees sense enough to be checked out by a Dr.

Great that you managed to sell one of the cowls. I have finished one for my niece's birthday but not really happy with it but at least it will keep her neck warm in Wellington.

jayemtoo - 2015-06-03 17:09:00
7293

morning ladies :) Oh dam kuaka, bloody men eh. They can be so damed stubborn at times. Nothing worse than being cold but great you sold your cowl :)

I stitched some more on my piece of hardanger yesterday, will do a bit more today but I have an idea for a quilt rattling round in my head so may start planning that today. Nice to have a change from the needles.

Hope everyone manages to stay dry and warm today.

Happy knitting :)

7294

Morning everyone.

Oh Kuaka, I agree with Kiwimade, Bloody Men lol... Wont do anything to help themselves.

I finished three more Jelly babies yesterday. l knit three then put them together all at once. Pictures on FB..

MrP is still in bed, not in my way at least lol...

Jordy is possibly coming to visit today to pick up some squares she is going to join together.. weather permitting... Is quite a while since I saw her.

Shopping later... was going to change to Saturday and shop with a friend in Pukekohe but have figured out it will still cost more than here, adding the petrol on.

Will do some more napkin ring covers today. I do them in lots of 6, then put them together all at once too..

Im enjoying having all the different things to do. Means I don't get bored lol

Have a fab day everyone

Morning ladies, lovely and sunny here for a change, but quite cool, at least we don't have the flooding that they have in Dunedin.

Well I did suggest to Mr K that he should see his gp and nearly got my head bitten off for my troubles, so I think I shall keep my thoughts to myself from now on.

Not going shopping today. Don't desperately need anything so I'll leave it till next week, which means I get to do some tidying up today and some knitting so can't be all bad, might do some sewing for a change.

Have a super day everyone and keep warm.

I'm off to school, teaching the older kids today so no crafting for me. Day would be perfect for it too lol. Still, work beckons and every cent helps these days.

Happy knitting :)

Morning ladies, have fun at school kiwimade.

Well last night I was both good and naughty, good in that I mastered the mobius cast on, but I really struggled as the only circular needle I had that was the right length was too big in the needle (I needed a 4mm and it was a 5.5mm) but I persevered and was eventually pleased with the result, so I bit the bullet and ordered some knit-pro interchangeables from LoveKnitting. Oops. I didn't buy $100 worth so had to pay freight on them, but I really couldn't justify spending the extra $40 odd just to save $10, but if I like them enough I might shout myself some more for my birthday. I have got a "starter kit" of 4mm, 5mm and 6mm tips coming along with 60cm, 80cm and 100cm cables, and half a dozen end caps. Also bought a fancy row counter, the type I tried to get in Spotlight last week but they didn't have them.

Had a message from stepson last night, he's booked to go to Australia on 21st to see his sister, and plans to be there a week or fortnight and then come over here. My few days away must be getting closer now. Hope it doesn't upset Mr K too much. I'm thinking leave here Wednesday stay the night at my sons in Auckland, travel on to Hamilton on Thursday, stay there Thursday and Friday night, come back to Auckland sometime Saturday and stay at my sons Saturday and Sunday night and come home Monday. Sounds like a plan. Fingers crossed.

Happy knitting everyone.

Morning
Have a good classroom day Kiwimade.

Your planned break sounds wonderful Kuaka and hopefully will do you the world of good. Just close your ears to Mr K if he complains lol. You never know his son may even con him into seeing his GP.

I really love my interchangeable needles and use them for all my knitting now. Must admit it took me a wee while to get used to the fact they were remove able and had a few times when they came loose while knitting but seem to be on top of that now.

I seem to just be plodding along with knitting at the moment have socks and a jersey on the needles but downloaded several patterns I want to try so am getting impatient to free up the needles again but not getting the time to do much. Oh well perhaps this weekend!

Happy day all

Morning everyone.

HAve fun at school Kiwimade..

Kuaka your trip sounds fab.. Go anyway even if things are tense when you leave. I did that once, MrP was getting wound up, and I still left.. he got on the ;ladder to put lights ina tree and that's when he had his heart turn cos he was wound up and fell off and broke his back..

Did I feel guilty.. No... he knew he shouldn't have been on the ladder even if calm.

Feel like I plodded with my knitting yesterday but I did get the main body piece of the 6th dwarf done. getting impatient for the tubing etc arrives so I can get some work completed. lol..

Have to go do my bloods this morning. Then home to craft.

Have a good day all
