That's just plain rude of those contractors. I got a quote to trim down 3 trees for easier management. It came back at $270!!!! Couldn't believe it and our rent is going up by $20 per week this time. I might send the quote to the landlords!

Hopefully bringing S home from hospital today. Surgery went well yesterday but no endo in the end just lots and lots of adhesions to everything from a massive infection after surgery 12 months ago. It has been cleared away and I guess its great news that 6 years on from hysterectomy there is still no endo and no sign of bowel tumours either. Thank goodness for her little pill each day.

I would most definitely send the quote to the landlord. You do not need to pay that. Tree trimming is the landlords responsibility. That's good news about S. I had such a busy day. I came home after the school run and made Apple Jelly, Tomato Relish, cheese and scones. The kids love fresh scones, jam and whipped cream ha ha. My cottage smells like relish this morning though. I'm off to school again this morning.

Working from home today but also need to get a coffee for S sometime this morning as well. Funeral is at 1pm and this one is affecting me already. Maybe because my daughter is so unwell, too, and there is a huge risk of the same thing. Sigh.
I love Devonshire Scones!

7205

I hope S's health improves. Yes it's understandable that you would e affected. I had another day of running. Started another beanie for my great grandson. Then I have to make E4 a pinky one lol. I'm knitting a cable Angora one for C5. Never knitted Angora before.

My goodness yesterday was a hard day. Saw S for about an hour as she is still sleeping a lot. The funeral was a long one but beautiful. So emotionally drained from the day and not eating we both napped for a couple of hours after. Tea was very late. Our morning started with a crash at the nearby intersection. A small truck ran a red light and took out a car. I made the 111 cal and I. raced down to help. Lucky we were up already and no-one was hurt. Not a great way to start the day.
Yesterday I went shopping for the stuff I needed for the craft activity for Women's Group next week. One of the items needed are little u-shaped pins to hold mesh on to poystyrene. Have you heard of these before? None in Lincraft and no luck at a florists. I'm a bit stumped.

Had fish and chip tea at son& DIL's for B's 11th birthday on Monday. He is starting to look so grown up now. I notice it more now that he is part of our older children's programme at work which is based at the community centre across the road and I don't see him every day. Mind you L will be 9 in May and he has really changed as well. I will be picking up B7 to take him to school each morning this week as S can't drive for up to 10 days. Most mornings will be fine but tomorrow is going to be a nightmare as it will at least an hours round trip, the earliest he can be dropped at school is 8.30 and I need to make another 45 minute trip over to the shop by 9! I guess the shop's opening late. LOL. I'm trying to replicate a rugby jersey for a 3-6 mth old size. A bit complicated so fingers crossed. Back done, nearly at neck shaping on front and then sleeves are plain, thank goodness.

No I haven't heard of those pins. What a couple of days you have had. Must admit running from early in the morning and driving all over the place takes it out of you. I have had a busy weekend as well and it's early starts again ugh. My neighbour brought me a Box of pears. I bought 3 bags of apples to cook and freeze before I got the pears darn. So tonight I have been cooking. I've saved all the skins to make Apple and Pear Jelly Jam so that needs to be cooked tonight to drain so I can cook it and bottle before Wednesday. An electrician is arriving to replace my power board then. He will be here all day and there won't be any power. I have one more beanie to go for the family but started one for myself in Grey Angora as well because I bought myself a grey and white sweatshirt lol.

Sounds nice. Good for you. We spent the day sorting photos! LOL. I want a slideshow running through the tv at I's party on Saturday night of all the crazy things he's done in his 60 years. Having to use a flashdrive as although we have a smart tv we aren't smart enough to make it pick up our computer. Yes we have wifi. LOL Now the question is can I still play music Cd's through the tv soundbar while running the pictures? It's doing my head in.

grizzly4 - 2016-03-14 06:25:00
7210

It would do my head in as well ha ha. After I dropped the kids at school I had to take M's bike to the shop to get a new tube. He did it straight away which was great. I raced home to tidy both the house and my cottage. Did the washing and cleaned 2 cars inside and out. Then I had to undo J's bike seat and tighten that up for Wheels day tomorrow. Had a sandwich and dashed back to the school to pick them up. Came home cooked tea and A arrived home just as we finished. M8 was such a help. While I cooked tea she helped her brother do his homework. She was so patient with him. Later she put him in the shower and helped him wash himself. I was barred from helping because he said " I'm a big boy and M knows which body wash is mine and my shampoo" He's such a character. M then set the table and let J read to her. After tea I cleaned up as A still had to make their lunches and sort her clothes out for work tomorrow then work on reports. I have just finished the Jelly and guess what I've been given more fruit. No more tonight I'm going to knit for 30 minutes and crawl into bed ha ha. Even though M's Karate Jacket has to have 4 new badges sewn on it. She graded again but doesn't need it until Saturday.

Doesn't being retired mean you get to take it easy? LOL.I have a late day today because of a staff training session tonight, early start getting B to school again (got to the shop at 2 minutes to 9 yesterday) and now S says she has to see surgeon today so I have to go across town to pick her up, back into town for the appointment and then take her home before going back to work. Sigh, I am trying so hard to get things done in the office before our week off and it's just not happening. Her partner gets to stay at work....Grrr. And I'm worried why the surgeon has called her in.

grizzly4 - 2016-03-15 06:30:00
7212

Seems to me this partner is a tard selfish. What would they do withoutMum aye. I think S is a bit selfish too. You are working and she is an adult. She should get her partner to take her. Good old Mumwill do it. A and T always ask me to help but if Sil is home it's his responsibility ha ha. T of course has her eldest son who helps out a lot now as he is living with her. Maybe the surgeon is just checking to see how she is doing. I hope so.just made a pie and I'm off to bed. A is not working tomorrow. Whoop whoop ha ha

makerealbany - 2016-03-15 22:48:00
7213

I felt like I spent more time in the car yesterday than anywhere else.Almost. LOL. S has an infection which is preventing her from recovering. Can you believe it. They pumped her with antibiotics at the end of the surgery and yet just on a week she is not well! Late night last night at work with staff training then came home to work on this little rugby jersey. Knitting it is fine and I worked out the fairisle pattern for back and front but doing the fine outline around the letters and number on the back is not my forte. I'm not that happy with it but it's the best I can do. Just need to knit the neck up and it's out of here. LOL.

grizzly4 - 2016-03-16 06:50:00
7214

Poor S that's awful. T was at home today feeling lousy. She picked up a tummy bug at work. Half of he staff have had it grr. She pent the day in the bathroom sigh. Well I had no power all day but the new switchboard is in the house and so no more problems for me with the board tripping in the winter. I hope ha ha. I finished my beanie and have three to sew up but ignoring them. Don't think I'll buy Angora again but I'm sure I have more in my stash. Started a cardi in Magi Knit by James Brett for E4. Now that her Mum is on a limited income she might get to wear it. I hope so sigh . It was very disappointing knitting her lots of garments and then not seeing her wearing them. At 4 she is getting to the " I want to wear that" stage. Last time she had a favourite dress of M8 s on. Told her cousin it was her favourite dress now ha ha.

makerealbany - 2016-03-16 23:50:00
7215

I hope no-one else get's T's bug! Last thing you need. The jersey is finished except for a black line I am crocheting up the raglan shaping. Will photograph it before it goes but will email it to you as it's been personalised for a specific player so I won't put it on here. I hope they like it. I'm at that point of anticipating what I'm going to do next. LOL. The floral wall hanging we did at Women's Grp went really well, they were so excited. It used a stiffened mesh I bought from Lincraft, polystyrene half spheres and those little U pins. If I remember I'll take the camera to work and photograph mine to show you as well.

grizzly4 - 2016-03-17 06:49:00
7216

Cool I look forward to seeing them. S28 arrived early this morning to pull down the kids trampoline and dig plants out of a garden that will be taken up by the new driveway . I had loads of cleaning out of drawers to do today. more stuff to get rid of. Finished M's petticoat finally and I have one more lot of edging to sew on her dress. She's got so tall. Did a bit on E's cardi tonight . It's very pretty. My back is still out and my feet and hands are swollen. Every time my back goes this happens. Grrr. It's so darn frustrating. I bend over and the next minutes it's moaning and groaning lol. Then it's grating and gnashing of teeth. As long as it's right for Sunday and the kids Gala. They only have one every 5 years and it's a Beauty. Bed for me now .

makerealbany - 2016-03-17 23:30:00
7217

The gala sounds like fun, doesn't seem like 5 years ago since the last one though. LOL. Jersey finished, not sure if I'm happy with it or not. Oh well, the man that has ordered it for his newborn nephew is getting impatient so I will take it to the shop today. He is so excited about it I hope he's not disappointed. Last day at work today for a while Don't go back till the Wednesday after Easter as schools are closed on the Tuesday. Weather looks dodgy next week so it better not ruin our plans. The shop is moving to new premises at the end of April. It will be harder for me to get to and to get to work afterward on Mondays but hopefully the reduced rent because we will be sharing the site will save us financially. So much work ahead to do this though and not sure the repercussions from our existing landlord.

grizzly4 - 2016-03-18 06:34:00
7218

Heavens moving the shop. Gosh I hope you and I aren't doing all that by yourselves. My sister had to move offices and all the staff were unavailable and her hubby and family slaved for a week Grrr. I have K6 with me for the weekend so his Mum can rest. She's still very seedy and two more of her staff have it. GP thinks it's viral. No kidding lol. M8 came over tonight with her Karate gear. I had to sew 4 Emblems on as she graded up. I could hardly see the stitches. What a nightmare. I did it with invisible thread. Stabbed myself with the needle several times ugh. She needed it for the morning . No pressure lol. I meant to do it during the week but I forgot. It's been a hell week really. Hope tomorrow is more relaxed ha ha. No knitting today.

makerealbany - 2016-03-18 23:48:00
7219

I hope you have a calmer day today. That virus sounds awful. There will be a few people to help with shop but will take a weekend to do. Sigh. Today is I's party for his 60th on Monday. So it's all about food and arranging beds for sleepovers and finding enough seating. LOL. I really hope he has a good time, it's pretty much the start of a week of celebrations. And of course it's my 25th anniversary at work today too. LOL We are both getting old. I's life insurance policy runs out this week so no more back up plan for me. He'd better stick around for another 60 years or else. I keep telling him that and not because of the insurance, by the way. LOL.

Today was a mad day as well. Tomorrow Will be worse. By next Wednesday I'll feel much better Sil will be home and had a days rest and it will be his turn lol. He passed his last flight test yesterday so is heading fir Vancouver to shop for us and then home whoop whoop. Now he has another rating he can get the kind of work he wants. He lives flying but work is tight in PNG at the moment so he may have to contract out for another Company. My son W visited today . He brought me home some Rowan Wool from England. I also was very spoilt with a Jade Pendant and Matching Earings from Singapore . You will be exhausted by now. Hope the party went well.

makerealbany - 2016-03-19 21:38:00
7221

Very well thank you. In bed by one so not too bad. Cleaning up to do today, though then out on the bikes. DIL doing dishes as I type this and have a cup of tea LOL. Only issue was S's partner (as expected) as he drank a whole bottle of vodka and has a whole lot of cleaning up to do himself at home this morning. S was trying to help him once she had kids in bed but he lashed out with his foot and kicked her in the stomach. I really hope he's suffering today but I know that just makes it worse for her. Sigh. I. had a great evening catching up with old friends etc. Lots of reminiscing and great stories. LOL.

grizzly4 - 2016-03-20 09:20:00
7222

About those photos, some male living in this house who shall remain nameless deleted them off the camera in preparation for his party!!!!!!

grizzly4 - 2016-03-20 09:21:00
7223

Oh the camera grinch aye lol what a shame. S certainly has her hands full. A whole bottle of vodka ugh. I would be kicking him out if he lashed out and kicked me in the stomach. I know he will be suffering and so he should be. Drunken sot. Poor S doesn't need that.
Had a ball at the Gala. So did the kids lol. Spent all their pocket money and came home with heaps of books, sweets and more toys ha ha. A worked on the Cake stall and was exhausted but pleased. Their target for the cake stall was $1800 and they made over $3000 and that is a lot of cakes ha ha. It rained on and off but we just ducked under cover when it was raining. Glad that week is over whoop whoop.

makerealbany - 2016-03-20 23:19:00
7224

Is the gala a fundraiser for the school or something else? Sounds wonderfully well supported.
We had a wonderful day out yesterday and a bit stiff this morning. LOL. A couple of huge mosquito bites, too. Grr.
As far as S's partner goes he is going to be told he is not to drink at any of our future family events (if he is still around) he embarrassed S and his behaviour was certainly not appropriate in front of children. In actual fact he has a long, long way to go before he is in any way good enough for my daughter. I wish she could see that. He wasn't 'well' enough to clean his mess up yesterday and she had to do it all. No man is worth that.

grizzly4 - 2016-03-21 07:51:00
7225

Yes the Gala is a Fundraiser for the school. No he is not good enough for your daughter and you certainly don't need him anywhere near the children intoxicated.
Sil arrived home this morning . Everyone happy then he checks his pay only got half his pay. Rings his company. They told him to go on the course. He paid for it all and now they say they have no work. They didn't get the contract so he is out of a job. Has another offered but they want him straight away. A and the kids won't be able to handle that and neither will I. Working overseas there is no holiday pay or notice given. That's why they get paid well when they are working. Just another problem and the darn Contractors did not turn up. My sons meds weren't faxed to the pharmacy so my daughter rang and gave the Team hell so they did it straight away. Honestly at times you wonder what else can go wrong sigh. With all the goings on I started knitting and realised I had made a mistake way back before the armhole cast off . I was up to the shoulder so I had to frog it all back and just started again grr.

makerealbany - 2016-03-21 22:18:00
7226

OhNo! That's awful, and I mean all of it. There's no way I could have I. working so far away for so long. Years ago he worked in Queenstown during the week and just came home weekends. Son S was 16 at the time and good company but was hard without I. even with the extra money. S and I. redecorated the house during that time, just the 2 of us. LOL.
Pulling back knitting feels completely defeating, doesn't it? You have the patience of a saint with all that's going on.

grizzly4 - 2016-03-22 10:24:00
7227

I'm up to the arms again lol. Had a really bad headache al day. Finished a dress for M and had a nap. Knitted tonight. When my children's Dad was alive he worked away a lot. I was never lonely with 5 of them to look after lol. I have been talking to myself a bit lately ha ha. Patience is hard to maintain at times lol.

makerealbany - 2016-03-22 22:43:00
7228

After 4 really hot days, the day we need to be fine for I. to drive the V8 Supercar is going to be wet!!!!GRrr. Hasn't been cancelled yet but we're waiting for that call to be made. He is going to be so disappointed and the rest of the family have taken the day off work to watch and may not be able to do that the next date they set. GRRR!

grizzly4 - 2016-03-23 09:39:00
7229

Yes it's disappointing for I and your family. It's raining here ,might be a wet Easter. Went to Farmers sale today and had a fun time all by myself shopping for great bargains. Then I went and ate lunch by myself in the mall. I really enjoyed the me time. Whoop whoop.

makerealbany - 2016-03-23 21:53:00
7230

Would you believe the rain held off, we went out to the race track and signed him in, he did a 45 minute safety meeting, did the 2 laps with the instructor in a Holden V8 Supercar and then it rained as it was his turn to drive! I've never felt so disappointed for someone in all my life. He is now booked in to drive on April 5.Sigh. It's rained all night by no where near as bad as you have had by the looks of it. Did you lose power?

grizzly4 - 2016-03-24 09:56:00
7231

Aw poor I. No we didn't lose power. I had a lazy knitting day today although I have cooked the Easter biscuits tonight. I'll ice them tomorrow .
No flag change after that colossal waste of money . Good on you NZ.
Contractors now say they will start next Wednesday. Yeah right. I'll believe it when I see it.

makerealbany - 2016-03-24 20:56:00
7232

When I think of how non-profits could have used that money instead of scrimping for every dollar!
Have a lovely Easter! We are off to Blenheim this morning till Sunday to see Mum and Dad.

grizzly4 - 2016-03-25 06:51:00
7233

Hope you had a good visit in Blenheim . I picked E4 up and her brother arrived from Hamilton so they were very happy to see each other in person. Kids had a great time with their Easter Egg Hunt but P our Foxy got into some of the eggs in the garden and got sick. Little begger. We had locked the dogs up on the two porches but he jumped out . I put E to bed after her cousins and Aunty had gone home. She settled no problem considering its her first sleepover in 18 months. Asked her if she wanted to ring Mum to say goodnight. She said " Nah" I was really surprised. At 11 she woke up and starting vomiting. She had it over her bed so I wrapped it all up and put it in the bath. Cleaned her up . Put her in my bed. I rinsed out the linen, got into bed with a bowl and towel near her. 1 am she does it again. She vomited every 2hours until 11 this morning. We managed to get Pedilight into her and kept it up until her Mum picked her up. She was very pale. No temps but dehydrated. She kept throwing up the water. She hadn't eaten much at all and only had two little eggs. She most definitely had a bug. Was told by her Mum there was a bug going around the Crèche. I felt so sorry for her but she was chatting away after I cleaned her up each time. She's okay now and did not get sick again. Asked her Mum to let me know. She never cried for her Mum once. Just cuddled into me. All of my other grandchildren ask for their Mums when they are sick. Most unusual little girl. She made me keep some of her Eggs in my fridge" For next time Nan" ha ha. She was very pleased with her beanie and I measured the cardi I'm making against her and it will be a bit big but she likes the colours.
After she went home I spent the day washing and cleaning up. Lol I'm off to bed early to catch up ha ha.

makerealbany - 2016-03-27 22:17:00
7234

And I hope you don't get the bug!!!!
Had a good time with Mum and Dad. His Parkinsons seems to have moved to a next stage which worries me but I didn't get a chance to talk to Mum on her own as my sister from Wellington arrived for a visit as well. I's brother's wife has left him despite not knowing the cause for his brain bleeds the last month or so. I. is concerned for him and my parents and has suggested we move to Blenheim for a while to be closer to them. It would mean walking away from my kids and grandchildren! My job! and the shop! but part of me wants to be with Mum and Dad, too. We've just signed the lease on this house for another 2 years as well. No idea what to do ....

grizzly4 - 2016-03-28 10:51:00
7235

What a dilemma to have. I sold my Lifestyle block years ago. Moved back home to Rotorua and lived there for two years to be closer to Mum. I missed my children and grandchildren so much and even though I had family there 3 sisters. I hardly ever saw them. Mum understood I was really lonely so I moved up to Auckland about 13 years ago. When Mum started getting unwell I regretted moving back . I gave up my job, etc. and that was really hard to do. In hindsightI would have been better off staying on the farm. It's hard to give up your security because things are so uncertain now. Jobs are hard to get.
As for I's. brothers wife. Well some people cannot deal with stress and opt out. Some people are so self-centred they don't care about anything that might change their lives. Lousy timing on her part.
I can understand I wanting to support him. Family ties.
Part of you will always want to be with your Mum and Dad. A break from your children would most likely be good for you but you will miss them and your grandchildren. Just think about it clearly. My emotions got in my way and sometimes I wish I was still back in Mamaku miles away from my children and living a solo unfettered carefree life ha ha. Big decisions.
I'm knitting a little cardi. I haven't finished E's yet but saw this pattern online and tried it. I'll have it finished tomorrow. I want to adjust it for E . So this one will go to charity. You know how you see something and want to try it lol. Impulsiveness ha ha. J has picked out a Sunshine Yellow Gradient out of my stash for his beanie. E M and K have theirs and J wants his ha ha. C is not keen on any colour. Surprise? Not really. He is so like his mother. Very hard to please . That's my great grandson.

makerealbany - 2016-03-29 00:31:00
7236

You will be able to knit beanie's in your sleep! LOL. Thank you for sharing your wisdom. Luckily I can't rush into this decision as we need 2 incomes and looking online it seems I will find it hardest to find something in the non-profit sector. I'm guessing timing the finding of a new job, replacing myself here at work, I. finding work and finding a house to coincide timewise is going to be next to impossible..... unless it's meant to be. I'm not sure how I will cope being away from family and I'm thinking of doing what I slammed my parents for doing at my age. They moved without a look back at all. For me, though, it's a relatively short -term move while Mum and Dad need us the most. But who knows what the future holds.
I am working on a fairisle cardy, on to last sleeve.

grizzly4 - 2016-03-29 06:34:00
7237

I finished that little cardi. Not too bad. I'll take a photo when I sew it up. Yep I'm the Beanie Queen. Have to make a couple for my son and his son with the Rowan wool he got me. I'm doing the fronts of E's cardi now whilst trying to avoid looking at patterns in case I go off track again ha ha. J came over this afternoon and told me he's in no hurry for his new beanie but he needs it for soccer ha ha. Think he starts this weekend. Thank goodness they are back to school tomorrow . Holidays will be here soon sigh.

makerealbany - 2016-03-29 21:44:00
7238

Yep, only a couple of weeks and you'll have them all home again. LOL. And needing beanies, gloves and scarves to keep them warm. LOL. Took my concerns about what to do to Supervision yesterday. Cried the whole time I was there, that's not me at all, and didn't think it was affecting me that much till I started talking about it. At this point I want to stay here, but yesterday it looked like we would go, so who knows?

grizzly4 - 2016-03-30 06:43:00
7239

Boy, it was all on when I returned to work yesterday! Lots of sick staff last week apparently but they seemed to have managed it all well without me. Hoorah! Only a few more rows to do on last sleeve of fairisle cardy.

grizzly4 - 2016-03-31 06:28:00
7240

I did the same thing when I gave up my job, home and moved. It's normal to have conflicting emotions and thoughts.
Contractors arrived today. A day late. Grrr Two vans sitting outside with three men waiting still for the boss, the Council Rep and the Aborist. Doing nothing for 2 hours.
I am on the fronts of the cardi to the armholes. Had to dig in more plants elsewhere yesterday. I gave the instructions and supervised lol No digging for me.
Think I will have to start J's Beanie today. E won't be here for another two weeks so got time up my sleeves ha ha.

makerealbany - 2016-03-31 09:31:00
7241

Ah well the Contractors yelled down the phone a few times. Put two more danger signs on the gate, yelled at the Manager, parked a big digger behind the house, made some more calls and beggered off. Grrrr. I managed to finish the fronts f the cardi, sew up the one I knitted the other day, sew up a beanie and I started on J' s Beanie. I stayed inside out of the way ha ha.

makerealbany - 2016-03-31 23:13:00
7242

I do not know how some tradesman stay in business! Their organisation skills, work ethic and respect for the client seem to be hopeless. So stressful for you at the best of times let alone when in pain.

grizzly4 - 2016-04-01 07:20:00
7243

I'm so excited. I won the Luxury Yarn Lotto This Month. Whoop whoop. There were two Lottos one for normal wool and one for Lux. Today I'll send off my Normal package. Such fun. Nearly finished J5's Beanie. It's so bright lol. My niece in Rotorua wants two for her Little ones K2 and K3 so I'm on a roll. My sons are next though ha ha.
They put a big sign on the Road saying all sorts of Health and safety stuff.
Eg Hard hats must be worn at all times.
All visitors to report to site Manager
Danger holes in ground etc.
We are having a giggle and will photograph for the future.
I'm not wearing a hard hat so there. Lol.

makerealbany - 2016-04-02 08:18:00

Those signs are everywhere around here. LOL. Along with speed limits down to 30kms around road works. Most of us are so good at cone racing now!!!!

Lovely day yesterday with family. Lovely day here today, weatherwise so working outside in the garden. Have to find buttons for the cardy as well.

Yes the weather here is great as well . Finished J's Beanie and one more for my niece. Started a shawl but didn't like it after a couple of rows so frogged it back. I'll let that pattern go ha ha. Off to bed early tonight as I'm feeling very tired.

Cardy finished! Also finished a little red jersey for a yellow teddy bear so kind of looks like Winnie the Pooh LOL.
Started a chocolate coloured double breasted baby coat.

Yes I agree lovely cardi. Nearly finished another Beanie. 4 more to go. Had a busy day with my son today. Came home to no action again. Council engineer came out . Wouldn't let them start again because she wants the wall moved a bit. My hair is starting to go white lol.
