And top cos I can lol popeye333 - 2015-05-11 12:08:00
morning ladies :) It's pouring down here and supposed to be like this all day. So a perfect day for crafting :). Might get my sewing machine out, I found some free online patterns for tote bags, will mean I have to make bias binding but it's not like I'm in a hurry. My sister suggested I sell the throw I'm knitting, she seems to think I could get 'good money' for it. Am in two minds about it and will make a decision when I'm finished. Happy knitting :) kiwimade64 - 2015-05-12 07:57:00
Morning everyone Dark and wet here too. not cold tho. Yes I have a hankering for sewing at the mo too Kiwimade. I might start making some more hearts. Trouble with selling such nice items is you never get much for your time. Id put it where you planned for it to be for a couple of days and see if you like it there. before you consider selling it. Off to the drs today, just to see the diabetes nurse. I feel soo much better tummy and bowel wise but need to increase the insulin to get the sugars down a bit more. so will talk to her about it. Then seeing that I cant get in the garden Ill be knitting or sewing or both lol Have a good day all popeye333 - 2015-05-12 08:18:00
Morning ladies, yes it's raining here too. Have to give Mr K a haircut and beard trim this morning and then it's my usual Tuesday afternoon out but I might give it a miss as I'm not feeling so flash today. I'll see how I feel closer to the time. I might cut out the next bedroom curtain, but probably won't do much sewing on it other than maybe join the pieces, can't remember if it's two drops or three. Had a message a couple of days ago from the stepson who was here recently, he says he's planning on coming back mid to late June for another visit (and I thought "hmmm, two weeks") but when I read on that's when he's planning to arrive, he's planning to stay till September. Blimey. Just on his own this time. So I'm thinking well he can help me paint the roof, and he can help me antifoul the boat (that's a sh*t of a job) and then I thought, well if he's here I can flit off down to Auckland and stay with my son for a few days, or maybe even go to Hamilton and visit my sil and catch up with old friends I haven't seen for years. Have a super day everyone. kuaka - 2015-05-12 09:01:00
It will be soo good for you to get away Kuaka. Its been hosing down so an afternoon of craft for me once I get off here.. Ive tidied the craft room it looks a lot better now lol popeye333 - 2015-05-12 12:22:00
morning ladies :) Well I didn't get any sewing done, finished my book instead and knitted. Need to drag the vacuum around today, those damed flies have come back. We need a good hard frost to kill them. Not sure what the day will bring but I know I will be knitting. 22 repeats to go, doesn't take long to do a repeat. I need to get outside and mow the lawn, weed and finish pruning but it's so wet out there. The lawn clippings will clog the mower no matter what setting I put the mower at. I hope everyone is well and staying dry. Happy knitting :) kiwimade64 - 2015-05-13 07:37:00
Morning Going up the leg of the socks so hopefully will finish this pair today so can start the other lot of wool I dyed then want to do some fingerless gloves for a birthday present which is next month, so no real rush fortunately. Have a good day all jayemtoo - 2015-05-13 08:50:00
Morning everyone. Found a pattern for some serviette rings using plastic drink bottle covered so might have a go at them. They have holly and berries on them, but if they go well I might do some sparkly flowers for another set. Just for something different to do. I haven't got any hearts cut out etc. So will do that later in the week. When I see the amount of work craft wise we do in here and in the couple of groups Im in on FB, Imagine the amount that gets done in the world... It must be astronomical. Id go nutty if I didn't know how to knit etc. Have a fab day all popeye333 - 2015-05-13 09:25:00
Afternoon ladies, well I had an early start to the day as Mr K had an appointment at Whangarei hospital to see the cardiologist, who was very nice and is considering fitting a pace-maker, but at the moment Mr K is hooked up to a heart monitor for 24 hours. When he said 24 hours I thought that would mean an overnight stay in hosp but it's a tiny little thing and he's wearing it, and we have to courier it back tomorrow, and keep a diary till midday tomorrow of anything that he does and how he feels. But the specialist did say that he wants Mr Ks other problems sorted out because there's no point in fitting a pacemaker if he's got bowel cancer. Luckily I took my crocheting with me, 'cos I got quite a bit done, as we had to wait after seeing the cardiologist so that we could see the nurse who fitted the monitor. Then went and got some groceries, but I didn't even go to Spotlight (had planned to but the hospital took longer than we expected). Me too popeye, if I couldn't do my knitting/crochet, and to a lesser extent my sewing. Well time to do the dishes and put the rest of the groceries away then feet up and knit before I start on cooking tea. Enjoy what's left of the day. kuaka - 2015-05-13 14:55:00
hi all finished the jacket now doing a babys jumper carolev - 2015-05-13 15:00:00
The Jacket is lovely Carole. Yep Kuaka they don't like fixing people if they have something else wrong. And I think that's exactly what they are doing with MrP. We are still waiting for a lung capacity test, which he has to have before they will consider doing his Heart Valve.. And He will fail the test, we already know that. I had the scare of my life at lunchtime. My lappy was doing updates. And then wouldn't start. Thought it was dead. So went on tablet and asked the wise ones on here. Panic over and sorted again popeye333 - 2015-05-13 15:58:00
morning ladies :) Phew... that was a close one popeye! I'm in the classroom today and by the time I get home, daughter and her family will be home as well. They are staying until Sunday so it is going to be a busy few days. So not sure about how my knitting is going to get done lol, not that it matters. Happy knitting :) kiwimade64 - 2015-05-14 07:21:00
Morning ladies, have a good day in the classroom kiwimade and enjoy your time with the family, the knitting will still be there when the cuddles have gone home. Feeling very tired this morning, fell asleep in the chair last night and woke with a stiff neck, slept like a log all night and feel very thick headed this morning, have a slight headache (probably from the stiff neck) Just as well I don't have to go to work - I think a lazy day is called for. I enjoy driving but I find it quite stressful when I have to drive Mr K to an appointment as he gets quite twitchy and he's always peering over at the controls to see how fast I'm going and whether the temperature, revs, oil etc gauges are all reading okay. It's very irritating. No matter how much I tell him to get his head out of the way, he still does it. And he always panics that we are going to be late even when we have plenty of time. Have to take his monitor off later today, package it up and take it to NZ Post, so I might as well check to see what's available on the farmer's market which I haven't been to for ages. I might do the vacuuming later if I feel like it, I might do the ironing if I feel like it, and I might cut out the next curtain if I feel like it, but most likely I'll do none of that, and just sit and knit!!! Sounds like a plan to me. Have a good day everyone. kuaka - 2015-05-14 09:17:00
Morning everyone. We are getting later and later lol.. MrP went to bed at 6-30 last night so I had 3 hours of the tv to myself and I got a fair bit of knitting done. Well into the second dwarf now. Shopping today, its overcast but more on the brighter side thus far. Just got an email from Farmers. I have a coupon for a free pen for my birthday, so we will go to town on Tuesday and get that. Feels like ages since we went out of town. Kuaka MrP does the same when Im driving. Also comments about how close I am, and bitches when I don't go through an intersection when he thinks I should. he doesn't know the changes and his eyes distort the distance. Ive threatened to put him out of the car before today. Have a good day in the Class Room Kiwimade. And yep the knitting etc will wait. Right better get moving . Have a good day everyone popeye333 - 2015-05-14 09:53:00
I asked on pay it forward Hamilton if any one wanted a jumper knitted for a pre-schooler got 4 requests so that will keep me going for now carolev - 2015-05-14 11:19:00
morning ladies :) Busy morning here already lol, grandy running round madly as she does with The Furry One in hot pursuit. And all before breakfast! Lovely idea carole with the paying it forward, those jumpers will be appreciated for sure. Our daughter said she was the envy of other mums with the hand knitted jumpers. None of her friends can knit and none of their mums do either. She's the only one who can crochet amongst her friends too. Time to get some cuddles. happy knitting :) kiwimade64 - 2015-05-15 07:52:00
Morning ladies, well the sun that we had half an hour ago has now turned to rain, heavy at that, and I let puss out while it was sunny and she hasn't the nous to come back in. Yesterday I did my ironing (but have since done more washing so have more ironing) some knitting and cut out the next curtain for our bedroom, and pinned the three drops together but haven't sewn it yet, might do that today. As I'm making it longer I will have to make another lining, then I might do the ones in the little bedroom and then do the one in our bedroom to replace the one I've decided doesn't look right as it's longer than the window but about a foot off the floor, it's mostly hidden between a chest of drawers and an armchair so it's not urgent. I'll have to do another lining for that one too. Hope it's not going to rain all day as I have to go to town later, might have to pick my moment if I don't want to get wet. Enjoy your cuddles kiwimade. Have a good day everyone, and hope the weather and conditions at your place aren't too bad. kuaka - 2015-05-15 08:12:00
Morning All Such fun Kiwimade having a little one around the place again. I have always thought it unfair Kuaka that even as we are doing the washing we are creating more, so can never really get on top of it! We had a lovely bit of rain overnight and now it is sunny and so 'clean' looking. Have a happy day all jayemtoo - 2015-05-15 09:29:00
Morning everyone. Missy has got the "pip" with the weather and gone back to bed lol. We didn't get home till 1-30ish yesterday so my whole day seemed to be out of whack lol. A perfect day for staying indoors and doing what we enjoy Have a good day all popeye333 - 2015-05-15 09:49:00
morning all. sitting in bed knitting I have a uti and the antibiotic are making me very sick carolev - 2015-05-15 11:56:00
OOpsy have just looked at Love Knitting... all the acrylics I use, that I buy from Deramores are cheaper there.. Same deal with the free delivery if $100 spent. And a 10% discount code for newbies. Will have to work harder on the credit card cos I prefer to have it "Prepaid" persay popeye333 - 2015-05-15 17:18:00
morning ladies :) dangerous thing looking at these websites popeye! I managed one repeat on my throw so that's something today. No knitting today as we are babysitting all day so will be full on. happy knitting :) kiwimade64 - 2015-05-16 08:42:00
Morning ladies, well enjoy your busy day kiwimade, make sure you get lots of cuddles to compensate for the lack of knitting. I managed to sew the three drops of the curtain together yesterday but that was as far as I got on that project, just as well there's no urgency. I did some knitting, and nipped to town so I don't have to go today. It doesn't feel very tropical here, and we've already had a heavy shower, we had thunder and lightning last night, but only very briefly, but had heavy rain, I was on the phone to my sister and she could hear the rain on the roof - the ground is far too wet for me to be able to do any gardening (what a relief!) so I might have to do housework (groan) or knit/sew/crochet. I've got washing and ironing to do as well. I don't think I'll ever have time to get bored. Have a good day everyone. kuaka - 2015-05-16 08:51:00
Morning everyone. Its dawned a beautiful day here so one bed is stripped and in the machine. The other will be done shortly. Yay we had condensation this morning so I used the Karcher. I got 1/4 of a cup. Cos I simply had to measure it lol. I knitted the main band piece for 3 serviette rings last night once I finished the dwarf. Have a friend coming in today and we will pop out to her place at some stage too cos MrP hasn't been there yet. Enjoy ya cuddles Kiwimade. And Kuaka don't get too bogged down by housework.. theres always another day tomorrow lol Have a good day everyone popeye333 - 2015-05-16 09:47:00
ha popeye, no fear of that (getting bogged down with housework) kuaka - 2015-05-16 09:52:00
Morning Why did you mention that work "ironing" Kuaka I have a full basket which I will just have to get onto today, I usually do it in front of the TV so not such a chore. Sorted out my knitting bins yesterday and have a couple of piles of baby sized things to take to health centres - 20 items for one and 24 for the other so now I will just have to get onto using up more left over wool and refill the bins. Usually do vests, newborn sized cardys - the puerperium one is a good one here, and hats. Somehow have gone right off knitting booties. I am sure you will have a fun day Kiwimade - does she still get a daytime sleep so you can have a bit of a breather and refresh your batteries! Happy day all jayemtoo - 2015-05-16 10:36:00
morning ladies :) We had a wonderful day with Maddy yesterday, she was on the go! She usually has an afternoon sleep but not yesterday, just some quiet time watching Dora the Explorer (can't stand Dora the Explorer lol). MrK had an afternoon nap though lol. This morning we woke to crashing and banging in her room and she had climbed out of her cot and onto the dressing table. Time to get up I guess! I did manage to get a couple of repeats done last evening, 18 more to go. Happy knitting :) kiwimade64 - 2015-05-17 08:09:00
morning girls, back in bed sick again , any one want to swap bladders but doing knitting carolev - 2015-05-17 08:11:00
Morning Cool here but lovely to be inside doing a bit of reading and knitting, started using up left over wool on a milo vest. I must be an unusual knitter as don't really like having a large stash of wool just hanging around. Prefer to get what I need when I need it - unless there is a good bargain of course I wouldn't say no to that! Happy knitting everyone jayemtoo - 2015-05-17 09:31:00
Morning everyone. Very dark too. I have oodles of wool but it never stops me from wanting to buy more lol.Mind you Ive only brought 3 balls for golly hair and the grey for MrPs vest that he doesn't want now, so far this year. Ive done the main knitted pieces for 7 serviette rings. I have strips of plastic cut for 10. So Ill do the other coverings today then crochet some sparkly flowers like I put on my table runner. I figure I should be able to do that little bit of crochet without aggravating the wrist. Just started raining again. So no work in the garden today. Time to move the chest of drawers or Cot Kiwimade lol One of my nephews was a real climber. My sister had a massive scotch chest, Stephen climbed that oneday and sat their howling cos he couldn't figure out how to get down lol.. He would have been 3 max I think lol Carole I know your taking antibiotics but have you tried taking ural? its a sachet drink you get from the chemist. if I even feel the slightest hint of a tingle in my bladder I use them and flush it away before it gets serious. It might just help you. I always have some on hand. Have a good day everyone popeye333 - 2015-05-17 09:47:00
Morning ladies, I fell asleep in the chair last night after tea, was asleep with my knitting in my hand and my laptop on my lap when Mr K went to bed. I missed all of Frozen Planet! Went to bed early, slept like a log and woke late, and I still feel tired. Maybe I need a holiday or a pick-me-up. Have to do some sewing today (2 pairs of trou to shorten for someone) and I want to finish the curtain, I've only got the hem to do now, then I can pull the gathers up and hang it, do the lining later. I've decided that the one which is hanging there at the moment (which is the one the previous cat ripped to shreds) can be cut down and go in the office which doesn't have a curtain - it doesn't really need one, because nobody can see in, but it will finish the look of the area and keep it warmer in winter. Have to make a lining for it too. It's never ending. I'm halfway on my second capelet, and I've done quite a bit to a crocheted charity blanket, then I must finish the zig-zag blanket, and then look for something else to do. Have a super day everyone. It was so cold here yesterday that in the end I lit the woodfire, and we were all cosy and snug. Probably what sent me off to sleep after tea. kuaka - 2015-05-17 10:17:00
kuaka, you could watch Frozen Planet online at TV on Demand :) I've already seen that series and it's excellent - as you would expect from David Attenborough :) Full on here this morning and I've got family coming for tea. I hope to get those generational photos if I can get Dad to pose for them! Wonder if I can get some knitting done, Maddy and I have already been outside this morning and it's cold! kiwimade64 - 2015-05-17 10:33:00
Yes kiwimade, I use "on demand" frequently, especially when my sister phones and interrupts something I'm watching, as I'd much prefer to talk to my sister and then catch up on tv later, rather than tell her to phone back! And then of course, there's many a time I nod off and miss something. popeye, I've never heard of ural, must check it out, maybe it would help you carolev - hope you get better soon. kuaka - 2015-05-17 11:20:00
Its good stuff Kuaka. Ina green box. Has 24 sachets I think it is. And you just mix it up in water and drink while fizzing. It neutralises urine. Kinda Lemon taste but you skull it so don't really get a lot of the taste anyway. Very handy to have on hand. popeye333 - 2015-05-17 12:14:00
morning ladies :) Our daughter and her wee family go home today. Yesterday Maddy played tug of war with the Furry One, he was so gentle with her and his tail didn't stop wagging. I suspect he has waited a long time to be able to play these games with her. We had family come for tea last night so it was a very busy household. Dad is off to winter in Queensland Saturday so it was his goodbye tea. Was just pure luck daughter and family were here :) He loves being a great granddad. When everyone goes home I'll be back out in the garden for a bit, then some knitting later on. I have an oven screaming at me to clean it, must do that at some stage and a huge pile of ironing to do too. The fine weather is meant to hold out until Wednesday so those two jobs can wait until the weather turns. Happy knitting :) kiwimade64 - 2015-05-18 08:09:00
Morning all Agree it is too nice at the moment to do inside jobs. Have started knitting a Milo vest as a change but will need to get to Skeinz later this week and get wool for boys jerseys as see great Nephew is growing out of his. Have a good day all jayemtoo - 2015-05-18 08:24:00
Morning everyone. Sounds like you all had a lovely time Kiwimade. I have a friend whose English mother who lives here, winters in Aussie, or every other years goes home to England. And another who goes home to rarotonga for thw winter. Ive made up the serviette rings, have to crochet the flowers Im going to put on them. Even plain they are nice. Im very pleased with them. And it will be nice to crochet something, I figure since they are small it shouldn't aggravate my wrist too much. Will do a couple of Jelly Babies after then rings, then Ill sew after that. But I might take an hour later to cut out some hearts and iron on the stiffening. I don't mind ironing little stuff like that. Weird thing, one house we lived in made me enjoy ironing. Id get the clothes off the line and iron them straight away. Music playing so I could sing along and I really enjoyed doing it. Not this house tho lol Lawn boys should be here soon. Hence being up early. The temp is dropping. Will have to get extra blankets out I think. Have a good day everyone popeye333 - 2015-05-18 08:30:00
morning all. me still sick sat up in bed at 3am knitting, carolev - 2015-05-18 08:46:00

Ive had a productive day. I managed to crochet 7 flowers then my wrist started telling me it didn't want to do any more So then cut out squares of fabric and stiffening and iron them together. Then marked the hearts. So now I can sit and cut them with the pinking sheers. But will start another dwarf tonight. Just about have too many variations lol.. but I can get a bit done on each and then will keep my stock piling up well. popeye333 - 2015-05-18 16:32:00
morning all feeling a bit better today so might go for a walk carolev - 2015-05-19 07:36:00
Morning all Good you are starting to improve Carole enjoy your walk. Off out soon, it is quite cool here so will need to rug up more. First need to put out recycling as see others have theirs out. Our recycle is alternate weeks so I check what others do so get the correct week. Got in quite a bit of reading and knitting in the sun yesterday pm which was lovely. Have a good day all jayemtoo - 2015-05-19 08:01:00
morning ladies :) Good to hear you are on the mend carole :) I have a busy day today with groceries, meeting a good morning threader this morning, and helping dad's lady friend set up her internet. Might be able to squeak in some knitting this afternoon all going well. Bin man has just been so I should be back outside but tomorrow is another day. Happy knitting :) kiwimade64 - 2015-05-19 08:15:00
Afternoon everyone. Couldn't get the comp to work this morning. Its warmer here today.. Ive been and done bloods and then had morning tea out with one of the Girls from club. $7 for a can of coke and a huge but very yummy passionfruit melting moment. I brought half of it home for MrP I crochet one flower there, we both kept loosing count so gave up. but the staff were happy for us to sit and enjoy our time there. We will go there again it was nice. Need to get some work done this afternoon tho lol. Have a good day popeye333 - 2015-05-19 12:45:00
morning ladies :) Need to clean the car today as I'm taking Dad to Auckland Airport Saturday so he can winter in Brisbane. He stays with Mum's brother and his wife and they get into all sorts of mischief. Will finish mowing the lawn this afternoon when it has dried out a bit more - came home yesterday and MrK was mowing along the berm! Just about fell out of the car lol. Should get some knitting done today, only 12 repeats to do so it won't take long to finish this throw. Still trying to find the 'right' orange for a reasonable price to make the second one. Found a gorgeous orangey coloured cotton yesterday, only 50 gram balls so will cost a small fortune to knit another throw with it but am soooo tempted. happy knitting :) kiwimade64 - 2015-05-20 07:30:00
Morning ladies, bit cool here this morning but not a cloud in the sky, there is some fog further up the harbour though so I hope it doesn't drift this way. Knit and natter this morning, might take a crochet blanket to do - it's one I've started for charity (something easy as I feel a bit headachy this morning). The blanket is already big enough for a car seat rug but it looks pretty small to me, so I think I'll keep going for a few more rounds - actually it's rectangular. Had a pleasant afternoon yesterday at my usual Tuesday afternoon out, but I was naughty last night and placed another order with LoveKnitting, I had an email offering free delivery on ALL orders, so I ordered just two balls, which would normally be $9.50 delivery but it was free, so I didn't feel so bad about it. Now I don't know what to do for my next project. Have a good day everyone. Edited by kuaka at 8:50 am, Wed 20 May kuaka - 2015-05-20 08:49:00
LOL Kuaka, you sound just like me, I had a good de stash, then all these invites from overseas online wool shops sent me mail, free shipping, 50% off some wool, good discounts off others, how can a yarn person not succumb to these generous offers, got 2, 3 & 4ply pure merino for a friend at $2.20NZ a 50gr ball. She is an avid shawl knitter the finer the wool the better, so she got a great bargain. Now the courier is calling every day with deliveries and I am at a loss as to where to put it all! daisygirl - 2015-05-20 09:29:00
Morning everyone.. Bit nippy here but not too bad. Well I should have known things were going too well for me. I woke up this morning and thought I had dislocated my arm.. I haven't but Ive stretched strained or pulled my bicep muscles in my right arm. Yes Im right handed. So light duties again. So the housework can wait, and Im hoping I will be able to handle knitting etc. Im soo tempted to buy wool.. Loveknitting is the one with the free shipping eh Kuaka... HAve a good day everyone popeye333 - 2015-05-20 09:53:00
morning all nearly finished this wee jacket carolev - 2015-05-20 11:45:00
Oopsy I found Love knitting. And just did a nice order. I had the choice between 10% off for a first order or free delivery. Which I went with cos I didn't order $100 worth.. Only $75ish. Got mostly Christmas reds and greens, for my stall items. Other good news is I can still knit with my strained muscles.. Im off to hang off the end of my needles again now.. popeye333 - 2015-05-20 13:33:00
