morning ladies :) It's a chilly start to the day this morning but by reading the good morning thread in general, we are warmer than most.

The heat pump worked a treat last night once we figured out how fast we wanted it working - or should I say MrK figured it out lol. A new remote control is irresistible lol.

I knitted two thirds of the first strip yesterday, had no choice but to sit and rest my knee so knitted. It's a bit tender this morning so will see how I go. If the weather holds out I'll be out in the garden, otherwise baking and knitting.

Morning everyone..
Another wild windy wet day here. And its chilly outside.. Yay.

Ducked up and got petrol early so I don't have to bother later.

Have the 5 knit rows left to do on the top down dress. I could have done them last night but left it for no think today. I doubt it will get out of the bag tho lol.

Going to try and sort out a rabbit leg for one of the ladies. Its crochet and she says it wont sit right.

Try and rest that knee Kiwimade... it wont mend otherwise.

I finished the first strip to the throw, looks good so far. Had to unpick it a couple of times as I forgot to cable lol, silly mistake but I find I make stupid mistakes when the pattern repeats lots of times.

Morning all
It was so cold here this morning and a surprise to look out and see the roof of the house opposite was white so must have been a light frost, far too early for them. But at least the day looks like being lovely.

Have visitor arriving today for a week, not sure what we will be doing though. The original plans have fallen through but as she already had her tickets she couldn't waste them so will wait and sees.

Out most of yesterday and evening so very little knitting done so hope can get a bit done today before I go into withdrawal.

Morning ladies, I am about to put our heat pump on, only 17 degrees in the lounge, not warm enough for Mr K to sit around in. Yesterday I put the heat pump on but after an hour or so I decided to light the woodfire. That soon warmed us up nicely. I hate winter. I'm dreading it this year.

Knit and natter this morning, so better get myself organised, and then this afternoon I have to go and see the man who issued (or in fact didn't) issue the WOF for my old wagon. He said it needed a new windscreen but I didn't realise he hadn't actually issued the new warrant, and now because it's more than 28 days it can't be issued. So I've been driving round with no warrant (not that I use the old wagon very often) and I only discovered it had no warrant when I tried to relicence it online. Kept giving me an error message. I want to clean it up and try to sell it. No point in having two vehicles, I can only drive one at a time.

Right, time for another cuppa and get organised.

Morning everyone.. On a very go slow today lol

The sky is clear , sun shining but still a nice cool breeze.

At home today. Had a lovely time at club yesterday and even managed the last five rows on the wee top down dress. So finished that last night and have started another for the 9-12 month size in a sparkly deep purple. Its handy being able to use up small amounts of wool on something practical.

Ive decided to make a Santa and mrs Claus for a raffle for CMA and Ill endeavour to make quite a few toys for the November sale, they should sell with Christmas coming up.

Im still in short sleeves and only one layer, as yet. Although I did wear my mauve cardy yesterday and it was lovely.

morning ladies :) We had our second frost but hardly notice it with the heat pump running. Took us a while yesterdays to figure out why the tomato plants had been bowled over lol.

I have two big 'jimbo pet food' containers full of freesia bulbs to plant today. Can't believe I had big gaps in the garden not that long ago and I was wondering what to plant. Now I'm wondering where the seven rose cuttings I have are going to go when they take and if I can fit all the freesia bulbs in along the edges. My sister-in-law gave us the bulbs and MrK in his wisdom, tucked them away and of course they were forgotten until he found them yesterday.

I am almost finished the second strip, each strip is quite narrow so when I knit the second side I will knit them all together, will save sewing and give me a decent amount of stitches to knit.

Better move, the Furry One wants to play.

Morning everyone..

A beautiful day out there. We had dew on the car but no frosts. No wind as yet either.

Ive been up to the supermarket already. Came home and had breakfast lol..

We have telecom coming today, theres a fault on the line and a horrendous droning noise on the phone. They will be here some time before 3pm... so I thought Ill get the shopping done early and can go back after they have been to do the banking etc.

Am working away on this purple top down dress. its the 9-12 month size but the wool is on the thicker side of 8ply so its going to be bigger.168 stitches is a good row lol.

Ive been hunting for a recipe that is in a book I got about 20 years ago. Cant find the book its in.. But I googled last night, thinking there wouldn't be any hope. but there it was on the Chelsea website..Its a fruit loaf made with an orange jelly. Makes one large or a couple of smaller loaves. So Ill make a double recipe and that will be four loaves for the cake table at club.

Well must away and get these groceries scanned and put away

Morning all
Another cold start to the day but it looks like being another lovely day.

Have a visitor staying for a week she is very keen on photography of birds and scenery so yesterday we went for a long drive with many stops for photos.

Not much knitting getting done but have started another pair of socks as I don't need to concentrate on those, also have given away several pairs over last couple of days so need to restock.

Not sure what doing today but no doubt will include a lot of photos. Think I will start some crochet prem beanies as easy to take with me and do while waiting for the photos to be taken!

morning ladies :) We've been having some nice weather here, perfect for outing and abouting for photos :)

Got most of the spraying done, will do along the main road today and replanted some potted plants into the garden and the freesia bulbs are in the ground. Also mowed the lawn then collapsed with my knee and knitted for the rest of the afternoon.

Have finished two strips now and joined them together, so far so good!

Morning everyone
Overcast here, but not cold.

Waited all day yesterday for spark to come fix the phone line. then I rang them cos I had to go to the post shop. They said they wouldn't need to have access to the house.
By the time I got home they had been and had to check all the jack points etc. One of the lines into the house has corroded . So he moved the alarm for us . Will let the landlord know but with some juggling we will be ok without it.. Just have to move my grocery scanner to the bedroom later.

Weirdly tho I felt like Id been invaded, cos the lounge and both bedrooms had stuff moved. And Missy really didn't like him. She hid behind the couch and it took a while for her to come out even with me coaxing her.

Only have 5 rows left on the bottom of the dress. The wool Im using sure doesn't go far. I thought Id use half of what I have but will be starting the last ball. so will get that done this morning. Then I might do a variegated one. So easy to knit with them only having a few rows of making holes in it lol.

Right will have a looky on here and then get the dress done. MrP is still in bed so I cant do some phone calls I need to do till he is awake again

It's bucketing down here too, even the Furry One doesn't want to go outside. He's going to have too soon if he wants to pee lol.

Housework then knitting or sewing day today I think. Am glad I got lawns and gardens done over the weekend. We're still sorting through old fence timber and stuff from the renovation so need fine weather for that. MrK is knocking out the old nails and trimming the ends for firewood (for a friend) then stacking the good timber. I help with any heavy lifting and am repotting the potted plants and all those sorts of jobs. Slowly getting the back yard back again.

Morning everyone... Still so very dark and rave had one clap of thunder.
Not cold tho.
Have to move my fax and scanner this morning. Was just going to move the scanner then thought nah do them both. Otherwise it meant I had to move things for the odd time I need to use the fax. So Ill move it to my bedroom in one hit. Will mean a few more inches free on the breakfast bar, which is all good.

Finished the dress yesterday and have 2 rosw to go to the armhole on a salmon pink tweed one I started yesterday. Ill easy get the three done before tomorrow night. Id set myself a challenge. Mind you one was the newborn. They are so easy to knit. And Im hoping they will sell at the sale... They need more trendier items.

I have the potting mix for the blue bell bulbs I was given. Its still sitting in the back of the car, from Thursday lol.. Going to get John from next door to move it for me. But not today lol... far too wet.

Deary me Carole, just might have to wear a black sack to keep you dry and warm, you could cut out holes for head and arms.

Almost finished another strip to my throw, I'm knitting an acrylic yarn and it is lovely and soft and so glossy. Should get the strip finished today all going well.

At least the sun is out today, yesterday was so grey with all the rain.

Smiled too at the sack comment, when on holiday at Grandfathers farm we used wool sacks with the corner folded in as "raincoats" - rather pricklyand smelly but who cares. Your throw seems to be growing at a great rate Kiwimade.
Slow knitting last few days with having a visitor who wants to be out all the time with her camera. At least today is looking to be a lot better than yesterday so will go out soon to see some cliffs she wants photos of.
I think i will get a crochet beanie started as I could put that in my pocket and do while hanging around waiting for the photos to be taken, it is a rather slow process and not very exciting for the driver lol.

Morning everyone..
A bright day in contrast to yesterdays grey old day. Although we did get a fine spell in the afternoon. Long enough that I got the potting mix out of the car.
No I didn't lift it I used gravity to slide it onto the cargo trolley thing. Then wheeled it through the house (Trolley lives in garage not dirty) and upended it out the front ranchslider.
Im going to need some help to get the geraniums out of the pots tho. Might ring our old neighbour, he will come and do it. (After I give it a go myself, don't want to look a fool if they slide out easy)

I have 19 rows left to do on the wee dress so it will be finished today. Will have to set myself another target for the next week. I will weigh the ball of wool Im using and see if I might get a wee dress from the left over.

The tomato plants are in the compost wheelie bin and a new mint plant planted in a pot full of horsey-doo and compost. The wheelbarrow is full to the brim with rain water so it shows just how much rain we had over the past 24 hours. Heat pump is off and doors and windows open as it is such a lovely day. Crazy weather!

The throw is knitting up quickly jayemtoo, I think it is because the strips are narrow so all short rows. And it's cables and I always think cables seem to knit quicker for some reason. The next third of the throw I will knit all three strips together.

Time for a cuppa and to put my knee up :)

Morning ladies, we had one brief but quite heavy shower yesterday and that was all. Started sunny but that's now hiding behind the clouds, it's windy and cold here, only 15 degrees indoors when I got up (at 9.30, slept well last night!) and I'm not feeling much like venturing outdoors.

Our visitors left on Friday morning and I've stripped the beds, done the washing and made one bed up just in case we get more visitors, and will make the other one up today, also put clean sheets on our bed yesterday, still have to do the washing though.

I've gone back to a "mile a minute" blanket but this time I decided to sew the strips together rather than crochet them, and I quite like the effect as it is flat, rather than having ridges in it, and it doesn't seem to take much longer to do. Then I will have to find something else to do. I could finish some ufo's I suppose and there's still the 10 stitch zigzag blanket which doesn't need much doing to it. These blankets are probably going to be charity ones.

I'd like to make myself a shawlette but can't decide what colour to do.

Well I achieved my challenge to get 3 dresses done in a week. So pleased about that.
Now Im knitting jelly bean babies which are plain one colour wee dolls from Jean Greenhowe's patterns. And judging by the speed I went last night I should get at least 5 done easy in a week.

Once we have had this sale of work I will focus on Christmas stuff. Ill probably give them a few of my stockings and hearts buntings. But Im going to offer to make a set of Santa and Mrs Claus to raffle.. And will focus on toys.

morning ladies :) Well I had planned on being outside today but it is raining again. So frustrating when I have lots to do out there. Oh well, guess it will be a knitting day lol. We are expecting our daughter and her wee family either today or tomorrow so that will be fun. I've made a big batch of pumpkin soup for dad and it's in the freezer so will have to drop that off to him at some stage.

Morning all
Another lovely day here. It was very nice yesterday so we went for a wander along the beach towards Cape Kidnapers so visitor could take photos of the cliffs which she did - about 300 of them! good job it is all digital these days. Not sure where we will head today but somewhere photogenic.

Managed to get some knitting done last evening, trying to get the little vest I'm making off the needles as it is getting colder the need for slippers rises, have had 3 requests for them from family this week. Really must do a batch of slippers while the weather is reasonable or I will never get them felted and dry.

It certainly getting to be soup weather Kiwimade.

Im on my second digital camera. The first one the card wouldn't reformat and clear itself. I love my little Panasonic one. soo easy to use.
The battery stays charged for ages.. And I don't know how many hundred cat photos Ive taken . And soo good you can just delete the bad ones, and not have to pay to get them.

How are you making your bedspread Carole? Sewn or knitted?

Ive knitted the body bit of one of the jelly babies.. the arms will take minutes, So I should be able to do one a day, till I get sick of them lol

A wee play on here and then ill be hanging off the end of my needles again

I don't blame you buying all one colour jayemtoo, I very rarely use 10 ply as well and would be struggling to find something to knit or crochet with it.

I have sewed up and darned in the ends of the first three strips and am very happy with it. Not sure how well it will photograph as it is chocolate brown but will take a progress pic and post it. I've started the centre piece and am wondering if it is wide enough. It's easy enough to widen so might have a think about that before I do any more.

Supermarket shopping today, son is coming home after a 66 hour week and daughter and her wee family arrive either today or tomorrow. So a full house here for a while :). The Furry One will be in doggy heaven with our grandy home - find one, you find the other lol, - as well as our son. He adores them both and I won't see much of him until everyone has gone home.

Off out again today, we went to a lovely bit of bush with a waterfall yesterday.

Nearly done first slipper only 5 to go! then they have to be felted so hope this nice weather continues for a while. I'm away this weekend so slippers won't be done as I need to count stitches on most rows. I will take something needing less concentration probably more socks.

morning ladies, have to get cracking this morning as I have to go to the chemist and pick up Mr Ks prescriptions as he went to the doctor yesterday (his bp is better than mine!) and this afternoon is my normal Tuesday afternoon out at mah jong (at least I hope it is, we haven't played for two weeks as the hall was being redecorated, and we haven't heard that it's finished or not, so we are assuming we are playing).

Last Thursday we had some trees trimmed - we did them the first time but Mr K isn't up to it now, but it was money really well spent as I got my sea view back again. Going to get it done regularly from now on.

and of course it's a much better view when the sun is shining and the tide is full, and the pic also reminds me I should have another go at removing the glue from the window frame, which is left behind from where the previous owners had velcro stuck all round the frames with some homemade fly screens stuck to the frame. Maybe after all this time I'll be able to remove the residue.

Not much time for knitting today until this this evening, but I've almost finished the mile a minute blanket.

yes we have glue residue on the window frames too.. MrP used tape to put Christmas lights up, wouldn't listen to me of course, so there is residue on the frames.

Had a good morning out, managed to get two balls of hairy black wool for Gollyhair.. $2 a ball so I was pleased.
I let early for my ARI appointment (at risk individual). And Ive asked the nurse about going on insulin. Im over the messed up tummy and bowels. So I will see a dr on Friday.

Just getting lunch now lol..

Daughter and her family arrive today so it will be noisy and busy here. Son is already here, funny how they both decided to arrive at round about the same time. Never mind, we love having them.

Morning ladies, yes, I'm pleased to have my view back again, although I would have liked the trees a bit further out trimmed too, but they are overhanging the main road with quite a drop to the tar seal, so they said "too dangerous, sorry", but the ground is eroding below the roots, so maybe on day in a big storm, they might slip off the bank onto the road and solve the problem for us!

Knit and natter this morning. Not sure what to take to do, but I will find something.

Was naughty last night. I saw a pattern for a shawlette that I liked on fb, a free download on ravelry so downloaded it and then spent $100 on lace wool from Loveknitting (UK). Spend $100 and get free freight. My friend uses them a lot and says the delivery is usually about a week to 10 days. I couldn't decide what colour to get so I bought three different lots. Probably won't make 3 shawlettes but I may make two. There was another pattern I looked at but when I read "cast on 600+ stitches using long tail method" I thought "not for me, thank you"

Ohh Kuaka Id have done the same 600 stitches , you would need a long circular that's for sure, or fence batten length straight needles lol.

Am doing a semi urgent Jelly baby in orange for whiskey13 sister. got up to the shoulders last night.. Finished the lemon one too.

Quiet day at home near the loo for me today. im over my diabetes meds, and seeing the dr to see if I can go on insulin.. I cant take this anymore.

Oh dear, doesn't sound good popeye, re the loo!

Yes, I was telling a friend last night about the shawlette, and I said knowing my luck, I'd cast on the stitches (probably have 3 attempts before I managed to use a long enough tail) and then when I got to the end of the first row I wouldn't have the right amount of stitches for the last bit of the pattern, and I have enough grey hairs as it is without looking for them.

I don't normally, unless the pattern stipulates it, and then I have to resort to youtube as I've never really got the hang of it. I always use the "cable" cast on that my Gran taught me.

Well daughter and her family are coming over the weekend now so it is just our son home. Sun is coming out and I've got the main roadside to spray, will get that done after my cuppa.

The Furry One had an upset tummy and made a bit of a mess on the new carpet. I've cleaned it all up and you would never know. So that 'rhino' carpet is as good as they advertise. I won't be stressing quite so much when The Whirlwind arrives this weekend!

kiwimade, we have the rhino carpet too, and love it, although it does seem to be getting a bit of a "matted" look where Mr K keeps shuffling his feet around while he's sitting in his chair and wears shoes all the time.
