Woke to pressies this morning which was lovely. I had seen a miniature violin ( about 6 inches long), complete with bow in it's own violin case a couple of months ago when I was out with the women's group. I have always regretted not getting it when I saw it and mentioned it to I. when he asked if I had ideas for Christmas. I was told after that it had been sold and the shop owner was checking to see if he could get another one. Imagine my disappointment till this morning when I found he had been making up stories to cover up the fact he had actually bought it for my birthday. Lol. He has given me a miniature saxophone in it's own case as well.
I have ever had the best relationship with my Dad till recently but one memory is the violin he bought me for my 13th birthday. I had been learning to play for 2 years by then. I loved that violin after using the school hire ones till then. I played for about 6 years and kept the violin till I had children. The little replica really appealed as it reminded me of Dad;s gift so many years ago. Bittersweet, I suppose, as Mum and Dad never came to hear me play all the years I was in the school orchestra. Sigh. Oh well, I still love my little violin. We are going out for dinner tonight with the kids and their kids. Really looking forward to that, too.
The trip too the show went well despite being so cold. I had quite a bit of time to myself which was quite pleasant just to wander around at my own pace. Finished a bit earlier yesterday as well which is always a bonus.

My kids ring around and tell the rest of the family who is in what ha ha. There's always an aunt, uncle and cousins there. I. and I have always gone to our kids things as well and supported grandchildren as well. I love going and seeing them. But it was hard growing up without that kind of support. I sang, was in the orchestra and played tennis but my parents were never there. Looking back I'm surprised I was involved in extra -curricular things as much. I must have been stronger than I thought I was. Interesting how we think about things that far back more often as we get older. LOL.

Yes that is interesting. I think about my grandparents a lot. Mums parents took us everywhere. I know they were our role models . Koro used to take me shopping with him from the time I was 3. All the ladies used to flirt outrageously with him. He was fine looking. Mum used to say I was his little bodyguard ha ha. My Nana used to take my sister and cousin when she went. We all went to the beach to swim, fish and gather seafood. We all went to the bush to collect leaves and plants for tea and medicines. We all picked fruit in our orchards, etc. That sense of all being together doing things has never left me.
I'm off to Rotorua at 4 in the morning. AGM for my land starts at 9.30. I'm staying in a motel alone for the night. Whoop whoop ha ha. Then on Sunday I have a Whanau Whenua Hui at 11. Then I have to drive home. I'm supposed to be at a Community Meeting here at 3 to arrange the Chrustmas Party but A is going so she can volunteer my services ha ha. Have a great weekend.

Dealing with some of those family members these days sounds more difficult, though. LOL. We all have them, I guess. I. is from a big family, he is number 8 of 9. They are split into different factions and have not been talking much for years. I think I'll just concentrate on the ones close to me because my kids are still speaking to each other even though the 2 of them like to stir trouble sometimes for my attention, even now they are in their 30's. LOL.

And back to work we go! We did a bit of gardening yesterday and a bit of shopping for Christmas. A quiet day with just the 2 of us. I have started a crochet blanket and a knitted crossover cardy over the weekend. No idea why I started 2 different things. LOL.

Had a great AGM caught up with people I went to school with lol. Whanau meeting was cut short. My sister and I walked out 10 mins after it started grrrr. My troublesome sister and brother were defensive and abusive so we left ha ha. My other sister was not with us. She knew what would happen sigh. She was waiting for us to go to my nieces for the afternoon. We had a lovely afternoon there. My Motel was awful. I got there, dropped my bag and raced off to the AGM. After that I visited my sister T and her hubby. We chatted and had tea. My BILs Dad who was nearly 102 had a bad turn and was in hospital in Aussi so we waited to hear if he was okay. He passed away that night. Ts daughter was there as she lives close. My BIL
Was over there a month ago and my sister two weeks ago. He was an incredible man. A true gentleman . He was a returned serviceman so he wanted the RSL to take care of his service but two of the family are very religious and are trying to pressure his widow for a church service. My BIL flew out today To abide by his Dad's wishes. So sad how some people will always try to do what they want regardless. So darn selfish. I finished my blue top and have started a pink one for myself. Getting really me, me, me now ha ha. It fits perfectly so I'm pleased .

Forgot to tell you about the motel. I opened the fridge, it was plugged in and sounded like a tractor but was not working. I pulled it out from the wall and turned it off. Someone had parked in my park and it was raining. I went for a shower and there was hair in the plug hole ugh. In the morning I went to have a coffee. Guess what no darn jug. I packed up and stormed over to the office and blew my stack. I got a very reduced bill and they tried to give me a complementary breakfast but I was so mad I declined. Went to my sisters. Next step accomplished in setting up the new programme. Huge sigh of relief, we have a venue. Next stage is completing the paperwork for MSD approval, has to be in by end of month so they can do site checks before Christmas. I've had 2 late meetings so far this week, visitors coming tonight and then out late again tomorrow night. Roll on the weekend, I say. Did a little bit of knitting last night before falling asleep in the chair. LOL. I'm working on another crossover cardy set but I'm doing it in Touch Yarn Sock wool in blue. Lovely wool to knit with and it's made by a family business down south. I met one of the daughters at the A&P show display stall. They dye their own wool and their are beautiful shades. I paid $20 for 100g ball and it looks like i might get a 3 piece set out of 1 ball so not a price if I do.
DIL is devastated with her Bio exam results, she just missed out on a pass mark. She really struggles with this one subject and had to resit last semesters exam so can't resit this one. Her only option is to find a job for next year, redo Bio and apply for entry to do her final year in 2017. She has to do 15 shifts in Maternity and Birthing Suite before re-entry to keep refreshed on a practical basis. I really feel for her but we would all have really struggled financially next year to support her 2 placements out of town. This way (trying to stay positive) it will give them more time to prepare. I really feel for her, though, it would be hard having your dream put on hold. I'm hoping we can find a tutor to help her with this subject next year.

Oh rats. Bio ugh. When we sat our degrees. I tested T and she tested me. Pharmacology and Statistics were hard for me. T breezed through the lot lol. My son tutored me for stats as T didn't have a clue ha ha. Yes it will be hard for her. Some subjects are awful.

Yay, change of chef or at least menu at the restaurant last night! Very pleasant evening. My first end of year function, so the season has started. LOL. Managed to get half way up first sleeve when I got home, too. I am looking for a sewing pattern that would make up tops like the light weight tunic tops you could buy in the shops a couple of years back. I have one in a chiffon type fabric that has been amazing and I can dress it up further or just wear a denim jacket over it. I'm not having much look finding a pattern so may have to wait till I wear my favourite one out and then use it as a pattern. LOL.

Glad the evening went well. We had the auction for my sons house last night. Sold it yah. Next stage coming up. By that I meant the legal battles ugh. I haven't even finished the front of my pink top yet. 4 ply cotton. So slow ha ha. Patterns are difficult to find at times. Good idea cut one yourself. I have a favourite summer top which gets thrashed. I tried some of my tops on this morning. They looked awful. I've lost weight and they hung on me. I am eating well but you wouldn't know it. I get sick of people saying" why don't you eat something you are getting haggard" Honestly my friends shake their heads when they see what I can tuck away ha ha. I have to eat lots of small meals now. I have half of the little ones Christmas presents. So not stressed about Christmas at all ha ha.

Went to Millars last night (still looking for a white denim jacket LOL) came home with a new top for Christmas Eve Dinner and another one for work plus a pair of casual capri pants in a floral fabric. That will make people sit up and take notice! LOL. $107 worth of clothes for $32 because of discount vouchers and a prezzie card for my birthday. Score! I have found a pattern for a jacket (kind of like the military jacket Michael Jackson used to wear LOL) that I'm going to have a go making in white. I'll scan it soon to show you. Probably not going to be the easiest project and I still haven't finished the dress I started last summer!

Didn't sleep well last night after working on the cardy, beanie and bootees set to get them ready for shop this morning. All done but my mind was still racing when I tried to sleep. At least there are no evening meetings this week, phew! Went for a drive over to Lyttelton harbour yesterday for a change and stopped in at Penny Lane to find some more music DVD's for Dad. I have 5 to wrap up for Christmas for him now. Hopefully he will like them. I have bought Mum a couple of tops as the range of clothing isn't great in Blenheim. And she enjoys the DVDs as well.
That $20 ball of Touch yarn that I knitted the set in will do a couple of pairs of wee sox as well, I think. Turned out to be good value for money.

This wee cardy is a bit out there! LOL. White background with bright summer colours in fairisle pattern. The road works I mentioned outside the shop are still there but now another team have crept up on us at work from the other direction. We have big wire fences completely across the driveway now. They said if they are not working on the hole they will provide a gate for us and likewise if we are in the carpark already they will give us time to move our cars. Didn't happen yesterday! I had to drive along the footpath and on to to road via the pedestrian crossing last night. We are having a new stove delivered tomorrow so hopefully they can get in somehow. Well they are supposed to but A and S taking kids away for the weekend lol. I'm making large squares and then I'll crochet them all together. Put y Xmas decorations up today . Early I know but needed to get it done as I have a lot on my plate ha ha. I was cleaning this afternoon and waiting for T to ring so I could pick her up from work but she got upset and my grandson was in the city so he picked her up. She went to a Return To Work Assessment Meeting and her boss wanted to discuss the sick leave she had had. She politely told her that was not mentioned in her letter and she would not discuss it at this time as it was not the focus of the meeting. She is still in agony and her GP and Chiropractor did not want her to return to work but they were screaming out for her. My other daughter will go with her to the next meeting. Manager said Oh No it's not punitive we want to help. Silly woman. Honestly she couldn't care a less about T but her workplace has gone to hell since she's been away. T said to me so Mum I worked 100 hours plus a fortnight and got paid for 80 and she tries to blindside me. It has given her a shock but she's a strong girl and always follows Process . They do not realise who her sister is. A had a client from there and it was the lack of correct process that ist them a packet then. They'll be on their toes for the next meeting ha ha. It's sad really that at the end of the day all ones extra effort means zilch if theres someone nasty in the mix . I'm baking my Christmascakes this weekend whilst the family is away ha ha. No fingers in the bowls.

It really is very poor of employers not sticking by staff during the bad times as well. They don't value the good worker's enough at all! It's my second anniversary of picking up the manager's role today, can you believe it? Trouble is my leave entitlements roll over as well just adding to the total that I haven't been able to take anyway. LOL. I'm not even going to mention my time-in-lieu hours. No idea how I'm going to use them up. Having some hours paid out would be handy at this time of the year but doesn't help the organisations budget.

T has so many hours in lieu as well and can never take them. It's ridiculous really. They may lose her if they don't smarten up. She has had to defend some of her workers from unlegislative punity measures from this Manager yet those that really deserve discipline but are ( in the know) go unfettered. They need An Assessment of the whole place including HR which is in a sorry state. When staff continually leave there's a major problem.

I really enjoyed working from home yesterday, it was so peaceful. Made a huge dent in the work to be done but I also finished my book and knitted a sleeve and a half for the cardy. Amazing what can be achieved without interruption and no travel.I worked for only about 5 hours but achieved the same amount I would have done over 2 days in the office! And may have chipped into those TIL hours as well. It was great taking a few minutes throughout to go out and smell the roses (literally). My garden has an amazing display this year for some reason but the branches are so heavy with blooms they are starting to droop down. Not sure what the difference is from a normal year.

I have put my Christmas decorations up and baked the Christmas Cake. Had a busy weekend even though I was home alone lol. Unless you count the three dogs and 3 cats ha ha. It takes a bit of time feeding them. Being little dogs they run around the paddock flat tack and wear themselves out ha ha then they nap for a few hours. I have used up all the wool I had for the crocheted blanket so have to wait until Sue dyes some more for me. Ive got a huge stash but I want the same texture throughout. I'll look in my stash tomorrow to check. It's a blend of white, green and pink. Went up to T's for tea as J is back from Queenstown for the weekend. Did a few jobs or T as she is so sore. My eldest grandson is there and he is a great help to her, unlike his lazy brother. The problem with him is his short term memory loss. You can tell him something and if he doesn't do it right then he's forgotten 10 mins later sigh. Heavens I must go to bed.

Like your Jacket pattern and I saw the cute cardi on Facebook. Clever girl . I spent 3 hours taking my granddaughter to the airport and driving home. The traffic wasn't toooooo bad lol. She passed her Diploma in Adventure Tourism and Management. She has applied to Air New Zealand for the Aeronautical Engineering Course. Just has to resit her Physics exam. The boys or men really at the Helicopter Firm she works for in Queenstown are tutoring her. She likes to work with her hands. When she goes on flights to other companies the guys just stare at her. Covered in grease she is still a stunner. She says they stare and when she's had enough she says " what" They then get embarrassed ha ha. All the men she works with treat her like one of the boys. When they go out to dinner and she's all dolled up it must be a laugh a minute. It's like she's got all these fathers and big brothers giving all the other guys the evils ha ha. I'm really proud of her. Pity her motivation doesn't rub off on her brothers. Sigh. I put my Christmas lights up on my porch this evening, looked across the drive and A and S were putting theirs up as well ha ha. Mine are solar powered and they are still twinkling. Only had about an hours sun.

Read a busy day spring cleaning for T. She went to her GP tonight and demanded an appointment with a specialist . She's in agony but finally ACC have accepted er claim. She is managing her unit for 4 hours a day but her big boss wants her to do it for 6. GP and Physio said no way. She shouldn't even be at work. So never work for a Health Board. Had a ball tonight at Pak an Sav doing my Christmas card shopping. So many tasting stalls.

My Christmas Club is with New World and their Christmas Sale night is tomorrow. We love going and stocking up the freezer with our meat and desserts for over the holidays. LOL. Remember the miniature violin I. bought for my birthday? I have just found out he has bought me a real, brand new life size one for Christmas!!!!! I've been pretty angry about it most of the night as he knows I had asked for something else but I've seen it online now and it's exactly the same wood grain as the one I had as a child and I think I've fallen a little in love with it now. His idea is to mount it on the wall but I have to say there's a little part of me that would like to be able to play when no one else is around. Funnily enough the Women's Group is going to a Christmas Orchestral Concert at lunchtime today and I'm really looking forward to it. I used to go to a lot of concerts when I was studying music at high school but it all went by the wayside once I went to work and then had a family. No one l I knew then was interested either. It's a bit weird that it is becoming important to me again at this late stage. LOL. Imagine if I took a few lessons to get back into it a little bit. Or maybe I'm just a foolish old woman.

Trying to do shorter days at work to reduce the hours owing to me but there is still shop end of month stuff to do. I'm back home. Things went really well in Court so we are pleased. Had to pick up my great grandson and bring him up n my way back. They live in the middle of nowhere lol. I kept having to ring his Dad because there were roadworks everywhere. We had a good trip home. He chatted about school.
I bought some lace 2ply yarn to knit myself a scarf and it took ages to get it. I messaged the seller which she ignored. Then I messaged and asked for a tracking number as I had paid for it no reply. Yesterday pass the parcel email me a tracking number be its delivered the same day. I won't place feedback. I might be mean ha ha. I will not be buying from her again.i haven't done any knitting either. Tomorrow night lol. I hope the boys helped you.

Just about have the second front done but certainly won't be ready for tomorrow. Wet and cold today so gardening won't be happening either.

Had the Local Community Christmas Party this afternoon. We ran around lol. Kids had a ball, bouncy castles, pets to pat, balloon lady making animals, free sausage sizzle , drinks, ice creams which I discovered is hard working scooping them out with lines if children waiting ha ha. Santa arrived in the fire truck. I came to recognise the children so I had to say" Sorry you've had three drinks already lol. Little monkeys all hired on sugar. First year A and I have helped with the Chrustmas Party. A really fun day. All of the children well over 100 got their Chrustmas Presents before they went home. I'm just baking Chrustmas Cookies for kids to take to school. I'll get the first lot in the oven and knit. We had a beautiful sunny day.

Community Party sounds like lots of fun! What a nice thing to be a part of. Makes Christmas sound really close, too, doesn't it? We did a bit more Christmas shopping yesterday and some reading and knitting. A bit of a lazy day really. I'm on to the second sleeve now, thank goodness. I think I'm finding the stripey pattern a bit boring to be honest, because it really should be knitting up really fast and isn't. LOL. It's the last full week for our programmes at work this week. There's only 2 days for them next week, with one of those being a combined movie trip for about 65 children.

Yes I know it's the last week lol. M wants her Chrustmas Cookies iced and packaged by Wednesday. J wants his Graduation cake for his last day at Preschool by Wednesday. Baking that tomorrow . K wants his cookies and the list goes on ha ha. I am very tired . Going to call it a night and drop into bed.

So it sounds like you have a day of baking ahead today. LOL. Mine will be about Holiday Programme confirmations going out to parents and PAYE returns and getting accounts sorted for GST return. LOL. And I have 2 funding aps to get in as well. I don't mind any of that as long as other people's dramas don't interrupt. Which is why I'm going to do some of the account stuff here before going into the office. Trying to be good and keeping my hours down as well.
I finished the last sleeve on the cardy last night even with not getting the grocery shopping finished till 8pm. Just the bands and sewing up to do now.
