morning ladies and happy Easter to you all :) MrK has just rescued a pillow the two terriers (terrors?) were dragging down the hallway. Little buggars lol.

Well I can't do any more gardening until both wheelie bins are emptied, compost bin is full and there are too many weeds I don't want in the compost anyway. Will catch up on housework and get the windows finished instead and knit.

Managed to knit last night until the Furry One got jealous the Fluffy One was sitting on the couch with me... oh well, at least some knitting was done. The front seems to be knitting up quicker than the back and I think it is because I know the pattern off by heart now and can just knit. Makes it much easier.

Morning everyone.. Ohh Im loving the cooler starts to the beautiful days.

Ohhh boy not good re the pillow and the puppies lol... Imagine the mess they could have made.

I finished knitting the snake yesterday and have started sewing it up. Didn't do any last night as my wrist was aching a tad, so thought it best to rest it.

In my madness I have to pop up to the supermarket, I usually do go on the weekend but it will be busy today like it was on Friday. Cos some people cant handle the shop being shut for a day.

Then I think I shall do some other craft later. Maybe make some more fridge magnets.. And get back to the snake later.

Morning everyone. Wet here and its very welcome too. Our grass is getting long so with the warmth it will be even longer by the time the lawn boys come to do it. Tuesday I assume instead of tomorrow as they are quite into their religion.

Ive decided to bake today and get some mini muffins and a couple of fruit loaves into the freezer. I have my morning tea shout to do in a month but before that Im helping a friend cater for her 50th as well. Both are about 25 people. So Ill make a start on mine and get that out of the way.
As hers is 9 days before mine plus she is moving in-between. So Ill spread things out a little.
and then Ill make some nice cheese muffins for lunch. Havent had any in ages.

I didn't knit yesterday. I changed the ribbons on some of the bath scrubbers from club. Then decided to tidy my ribbons as I had some of mums out here in the lounge and mine ion the office. So ended up tidying the two sets of plastic drawers between the chairs in the lounge. I have a bagful of pens to go through too and see what works and what doesn't lol.

I may partake in some of the "Last of the summer wine" marathon that starts today on sky. Theres two days of it lol. I always wanted a granddad like Compo lol.

Woke up nice and early this morning as it was light - not so keen on the other end of the day though when it gets dark so early. Another nice day here but definitely cooler overnight.

Off to help sister and BiL later they have a small business at their place making pet litter it is still at the experimental stage but fun churning it out.

morning ladies :) Oooh that's a bit different jayemtoo, but someone has to make the stuff!

I'm up to the armholes of the front so getting there in spite of the Furry and Fluffy Ones attempts to stop me knitting lol. Knitting cables can be tricky with one dog sitting on my shoulder and the other on my knee. So I am hoping to finish the front today sometime. Then I can join the shoulder seams and do the neckline before I start the sleeves.

Another damp wet day today I think so perfect for indoorsy things.

Morning everyone.

Beautiful day here, barely a cloud in the sky.

I did my big bake yesterday, 80 mini muffins, 17ish normal cheese muffins and some bread cases. And made 3 jars of home grown raspberry jam. I enjoyed every minute of it, but was worn out by the time Id stood for so long plus doing the dishes etc.

Ive got Waikato snake stuffed to the start of his head. Will get some more stuffing and get him finished.
Ive decided to knit a Golly Wog next. Strangley the same colours as the snake with the addition of blue.

Not often I have something planned before I finish something. But it will spur me on to get the snake done and listed.

morning ladies :) The Fluffy One is going home this morning :) I think she has been missing her mum too.

The house on the back of the truck is being lowered onto piles soon so it will be all go on our road today. Our neighbours across the road have moved and are coming for tea again tonight. We couldn't help with moving but we can feed them lol. Anything to help out.

I finished the front of the jumper and thought I'd do the neckband next but no, the sleeves have to be knitted as they form part of the neck band. Found another error in the pattern with the neckline not being centred on the front, a very strange pattern overall really. Will be pleased when I have finished it.

The throws I knitted for the living room don't 'go' anymore.... what a shame I have to knit or crochet another one lol. They can go onto the end of a bed so won't be 'wasted'.

Morning everyone.

Ohh the Furry one will miss his playmate again.

Our neighbours have finished, the biggest job was the garage.. But hes finished in there. They were wise and kept the kids away at this end so they didn't slow things down.

Im up and sorted already. Hogget is in the crockpot for tea.. Yumm. Will be a nice smell to come home to. Club day today.

Im also knitting a Gollywog. Will take it for a ride this morning. Can almost guarantee nothing will get done on it lol.. We talk too much for that.

Heck the recycle truck is early today.. Mind you they will have a day less this week.

Another nice warm day (27) predicted for here - sorry Popeye but we are just opposites weather wise lol.

Oh dear Kiwimade re the throws not matching - aren't they the gorgeous cabled ones you made a wee while back or am I thinking of someone else.

Didn't get much pet litter made yesterday as the machine broke down and of course it was a holiday just hope it can be fixed quickly.

Managed to get quite a bit of knitting done have finally managed to replicate dying sock wool so get stripes and spots, did some last year and have tried quite a lot of times to do it again and finally did it and took a photo this time of the pre knitted wool. Although still have 3 lots of sock wool waiting I will finish this pair and do something else for a bit.

Morning ladies, housework for me today I'm afraid, have visitors arriving on Friday to stay for a week, so I want the place looking it's best, and to that end yesterday I cleaned the insides of all the windows, and then later on when the sun was on them, they are all smeary so look as though they need re-doing, which I may or may not bother to do.

I have been busy knitting poppies for the hospital and have a bundle of 23 (I think) to send them, 4 of which a friend contributed. 4 I've already donated when I picked his nibbs up from the hospital, so not a bad effort, but I do wonder if they will get the 2000 they want.

I spent half the weekend frogging and tinking. I was making a pair of fingerless gloves (have done the pattern heaps of times so don't need to use it), but I was trying to get the colouring the same on the second glove so it would match the first. On the fourth attempt I started on the right section of the wool, but I kept going wrong with the actual pattern, did too many rows between the pattern, made too many holes, not enough holes, started the pattern on the wrong side of the work. I thought I would never finish it, but it is done now.

Now I'd better get cracking with the day and start doing some housework as soon as Mr K is out of bed.

I took Gollywog to club this morning, for a ride, cos he never even came out of the bag.

The boss was away so the mice played.. Ended up crying from laughing so much..
Cos playing tiddlywinks whilst running four cards of housie is quite a challenge. When every so often a counter would fly past you lol

But it was sooo much fun... even if we did get frowned on at the time..

Yep, jayemtoo, it's the cable throw that you are thinking off. Am thinking I may just knit it again and instead of embroidering roses, might embroider ivy leaves or something similar. Would go more with the style of curtains we have now.

I bought some fabric to cover the dining room chairs, am glad I decided to use the 'original' fabric for the cushions as this is much nicer for chairs. Also bought some piping for the cushions - omg since when did piping cost so much? Better make a good job of my sewing lol.

Still not used to this daylight saving - just don't like dark evenings, arrived home last night just after 7 and it was really dark yuk!

Another nice warm day although rain promised this pm - hope it's not another false alarm as we really need some. Will garden this am and try and get some carrots planted. Then can get on with knitting with no guilty feelings. Onto the sleeves of Cardy im doing for great nieces second birthday.

morning ladies :) Back out into the wilderness for me today, one corner and along a fenceline to weed - I just have to work around roses lol so no doubt will end up with a few thorns stuck into me.

I've started the sleeves, they knit up quick when your knitting a size 2 - 3 year old :).

If it rains, I'll get the cushion covers done. The fabric has been sitting on the dining room table for a week or so now all cut out and ready to sew.

Morning one

Your right Kiwimade, We had a ball yesterday. Was talking to one of the ladies last night and she said it was the best day she had had there in 3ish years.

Dark clouds here, but still very high clouds. But very warm... Cant wait for dark rainy days with cold. Bring on winter.

Went to start the Gollywogs head last night and its done in 4ply black.. So I was thinking Id have to buy some . But looked this morning and found a hand wound ball that hopefully will be enough.
a while back I got a ball of black bobbly yarn which Im going to try and use for his hair. Otherwise Ill have to knit loops and Im not too good at that.

Off to the med centre this morning for our flu shots.. Im hoping to get mine in my thighs. Hate needles in the top of my arms

Now now popeye, one is not allowed to use that Golly---- word. The Golly part is so called acceptable but not the w part. I love golly----s and both my kids had them and grand kids. I have knitted heaps of them. Goodness knows why it is not politically correct. My daughter had all her miniature gollies removed from Esty by Etsy Admin because she used the wrong words. Was it Enid Blyton who first wrote about him, Cant remember, but she would be spinning in her grave today. Gollies whatever, we still love you.

Not far from where I grew up there was a pub, been there donkey's years, probably close to if not more than 100 years, it was called "The Labour in Vain" and the sign hanging outside the pub showed a white woman dressed in old fashioned clothes, scrubbing a little black child in a tin bath in front of the fire, trying to scrub the black off him, before her white sailor husband returns from the sea. Then the pc brigade got in on the act and the pub had to change it's name to "The Triangle" (cos it was situated in a speck of triangular land where three roads met. What a load of old cobblers. So the sign was replaced with one showing a triangle and all the locals were disappointed.

I've always called gollies, gollywogs. I don't know who started them, someone told me that they originated in Scandinavia and were given to the children that were used as chimney sweeps, because their black colouring didn't show the dirt from the children's sooty hands. Don't know. But I'm a bit of a rebel too, and I'll continue to call them by their full name.

Have to find something "no think" to take to knit and natter today, and I'd better get cracking.

morning ladies :) I finished a sleeve last night so will start the second one today but as it is raining and I can't get outside to garden, I will sew the cushion covers.

Have to take the car to the mechanics today to have the front brake discs replaced. The VTNZ man picked up they needed doing. So while I'm in town I'll pick up MrK's script, will give me something to do while waiting for the car.

Love armin's gollies, she did a fab job on them.

Morning everyone

We had our flu shots yesterday too Carole. I asked if I could have mine in my leg and the nurse said it will take twice as long till it works.. Up to a month. And since I hang out with a lot of older ladies and the IHC Kids as I call them I though it best to get it working faster.
I will say its the first time I didn't feel it. Its tender in the area and warm. but otherwise the best one Ive ever had.

Its dark here but no rain. Very hot through the night.

Yesterday I was going so well on the hair of my GW then when I picked it up after tea I messed it up. So I gave up on it lol... Then it said to knit the face in 4 ply, and that meant you would see too much filling Ive I did it in Dk. Im going to get my stitch book out and do some blackberry stitch for his hair.
Will look at Armins in a min.

Shopping this morning and we will have a looky at our new petrol station being built. Its a Gull self serve one.. With it being here means the prices should drop some if the others want to keep business.

Then home to knit.

I really must get this Blu-ray machine hooked up too. HAd it a week and its still sitting in the bag lol.

morning ladies :) We have another follow up appointment at the hospital this morning for mrK's cataract op. The redness is going and he's seeing amazingly well.

I've started sewing the cushion covers and very glad I put the piping on, they look great! Will finish them when we get home. Can't believe how well this new machine sews.

I'm also up to the shaping on the second sleeve so the jumper will be finished over the next day or so. Been looking for inspiration for a throw, have lots of patterns and could make one up myself I suppose.

Better get organised, we have to leave early.

Yay its slightly cooler than yesterday. It was terrible yesterday. Very dark and we have had about 6 spits of rain lol

I wish I liked knitting chunky thick wools Ive seen some throws done with huge cables on them. Id love one like that.

Im on a mission today. Im going to do the three cheapie shops to see if any have a hairy black wool for gollywog.. if not Ill go back to the oppy cos they had heaps of wool yesterday, but I never thought to look for Hairy wool. And failing that Ill go to the quilting shop and see what she has.
I have his lapels, tails and bow tie to knit. So should be able to knock most of that off today.

MrK doesn't need to go back for his eye, the cataract op was a success (we knew that!) and he can now legally drive. He stropped driving voluntarily as he just couldn't judge distances. So now I don't have to drive him where ever he wants to go :)

I finished the purple aran jumper and am happy with it. I'll text our daughter and see if she wants me to post it or if she will be visiting soon and can pick it up. I'll take a pic later and put it up here and on our FB page.

Morning everyone..

Yay soo pleased for both of you Kiwimade. I bet its made such a difference . MrK will be much safer using tools too now that he can see what he is doing properly.

We have been out to a garage sale. I had a thought through the night, since it was at the cosy club there might be a knitter there who has donated wool. There were two balls of hairy wool, would have been perfect for gollywogs hair except one was pink and one was blue lol.

I did however get 7 huge coffee jars, catering size.. They will be perfect for pickled onions. Or to use in the pantry if I ever want a change from Tupperware. Ill use them in some manner anyway. Also got a pack of small paper plates which will be perfect for my morning tea shout. so Im sorted for that now.

The dishes fairy didn't do anything while we were gone so I best get to them.

I only have one piece of the bow tie for the gollywog to do now. And then will figure out what Im doing for his hair. But will be sewing him up today. Must look and see when I started him. It was only a few days ago I think.

thanks ladies :) lol jayemtoo, I used cheap yarn from Spotlight as I knew the jumper was for Playcentre. I thought cables would make it that bit warmer though.

Washing all dry here too, was warm but a coolish breeze has sprung up. Kinda has that winter chill feeling to it. I only mowed the lawns the other day but all this rain has made them grow, so will mow them again tomorrow... or maybe Monday lol.

Am trying to decide which throw to make, have started one but it will be in panels and I can't be bothered making another one in panels. Will do a search through Ravelry for some inspiration.

morning ladies :) I'm planning on finishing the cushion covers today. I forgot to answer your question popeye, I bought an Elina. I'm a Janome fan and this has a Janome motor. It'sa middle of the range machine and suits me perfectly for the sewing I do now. Is very similar to my old Janome 2000.

Might even try and get the lawns mowed, depending how I feel. My knee is pretty bruised from tripping up the steps the other day - the same knee I knocked about on the trestle when I was painting. I'll come right before long, just have to keep it moving as it stiffens a bit when I sit for too long.

Morning everyone. Overcast here again.. Just a nice temp too.. Don't need my fan at the mo.

Ouchies re the knee Kiwimade, they tend to get in the way eh, A friend had surgery on hers a few years ago, she tripped the other day and its been aching.
Im a Janome fan too, at least you know you will have a good motor. Mines a simple Janome New Home. I got it in about 1995 and it was secondhand then. never missed a beat.

Here was I thinking Id knitted all but the hair for my gollywog. But I haven't done the tails of his Tux jacket. Bodily he is all put together. Just have to do his hair and face. And fit the jacket details.
I started him on Monday so not doing too bad.

Ill try and do another couple of things for CMA next. The sale is on May9th, so still have over 2 weeks. Might do some more Top down dresses I think. Easy to make and quick enough.

Im going to try and get Gollywog done today anyway.. Woke up on my back today which is not a good look so am achy as heck lol

Sunflower that blog certainly has some lovely rugs, almost makes me want to crochet one but think I will stick to my knitting. I don't mind doing bits and pieces of crochet such as prem beanies but far prefer knitting.

Started another small girls vest yesterday but really must finish off the other things, I don't like having too many wips as they tend to get left and I lose interest in them - at least these have a finish date as are for a birthday present.

Welcome sunflower, it's always great to see what others are creating isn't it. So inspirational.

I started knitting a throw yesterday, and yep, it will be in panels lol. It's an aran one and has 'lacey' cables so interesting to knit (so far). The throws I knitted last year will find new homes on the end of beds so will still be used. This time I am knitting double knit chocolate brown, makes it hard to see the pattern so another reason for aran knitting, it shows up more. At least knitting panels it is lighter on my wrists and they knit up reasonably quickly.

morning ladies, haven't contributed anything for a few days, been busy with overseas visitors, but I've still found time to knit. Have a package of 24 poppies now to send to Whangarei hospital, and I've got back to my 10 stitch zigzag blanket which I put on hold a while ago when I thought I hadn't got enough yarn, but after putting out an sos on fb I discovered a ball under the cushion on the settee. I thought it was odd that I would start it if I didn't have enough to finish it.

The visitors went fishing yesterday afternoon, and caught heaps of fish, all too small, so we had barbecued sausages for tea.

We've had a light shower this morning, but not enough to do the garden any good. It's sunny but cool. We have our heat pump going kiwimade. We don't hesitate now, if it drops much below 20 degrees we put it on.

nothing else to report so I will press on and see what I can achieve today.

Oh wow raej, what a gorgeous shawl, and I just love love the colour.

I'm almost halfway on the first panel, it's looking pretty good I think :) I can knit it without the pattern, so many pattern repeats and the pattern gets stuck in my head!

We have our heatpump on now kuaka, wow, can feel it all the way through the house. Just wish MrK would stop fiddling with the remote! What is it with men and remote controls lol.

Lol I am the one who controls the remotes in this house.. And the telephone. MrP has pins in his hands and has trouble pressing liittle buttons, and even worse if he shakes.
He also leaves the control of the heater to me, mainly cos hes too lazy to get up and turn it on or up. and its straight out laziness. Cos He will sit on the couch with the sun shining in his face, till I get up to do something, and ask me to shut the curtain, while Im up.

No heating on here yet... but its been raining and windy and sunny. A near perfect day for me... Just need some cold lol.

Ive got the top down dress to the no think stage. so Ill take it for a ride tomorrow lol... Going to try and help one of the ladies sort out the bunny she has crocheted but she doesn't like the legs.
