I reckon you can never have too much wool either

Do you have an hour Armin lol...He is a lucky one in 200,00 to have isocyanide poisoning, has had strokes, heart attacks and fell off a ladder and broke a vertibrae in his back. hes lucky he can walk, they didnt think they would. Add that to a wonky hernia op that still hurts years later and 3 unsuccessfull surgeries on the under side of the arch of his foot.
So he cant sit long, stand long or lay long

But he is alive nearly 25 years longer than they said. They gave him and a couple of workmates 3 months to live cos of the isocyanide poisoning.. he is the only one still living. He met me just after being told that and puts it down to my good care

Morning Everyone.

If you havent already been in, do have a look in the "Show us what you have made" thread. So really cool and interesting stuff being done.

I have arms on bertie now and did the butterfly parts and catapillar yesterday. Will be doing more later, but I need to go up the road first.

Cloudy here again. Still no rain. hard to beleive its a week from when we moved all the furntatue etc. And we still have aching body bits lol. We are sleeping better tho so slowly getting used to the different beds.

No plans other than seeing to Bertie today. Just a nice productive day. Will make my man a blackeberry and apple pie later. A spoil.. and easy peasy cos I have a family pie maker and it works a treat

Morning all. Looks like everyone was far to busy to be by the comp yesterday.
I managed to get the butterfly and catapillar sewn onto Bertie and have knitted the seed packet. So will get more done today. Am sore today, I dont know why. So will alternate sitting and standing.

Have a good day everyone

Good morning everyone. Just back from an hour's walk with Quinn (my gorgeous girl Golden Retriever).

Yesterday I took a leaf out of your book popeye and shifted some furniture. I am buying a 'unit' for want of a better word off my girlfriend. Probably more a 'sideboard', for the lounge. Has three drawers and three cupboards.

So yesterday I shifted my bookcase from the lounge into the garage. Didn't keep books in it - had family photos and a few ornaments. I have a huge book case in my craft room/office which has books plus some of my paper craft stuff. I shifted those books out into the bookcase in the garage.

Today I am going to try and put together a set of drawers that I bought from Fox Collection for my paper craft. I'm not very good at following instructions so the chances are I might not be successful. Will have to invite my husband for tea again and he can do it for me - lol.

The weather here started off very windy and a few spots of rain. By the time we finished our walk the sun had come out. When I look out the window I can see it is very black to the south so we could be in for some rain maybe.

Like the sound of your blackberry & apple pie popeye - yumm. Hope Mr P enjoyed it.

Enjoy what's left of the weekend.

Morning all
Back home again after a busy few days in Wellington catching up with young relatives - love looking after the little ones but also love getting home again and into own bed. Not much knitting done while away but think will have a good day with the needles today. Your Bertie is certainly growing nicely popeye. Could do with some of the rain too pats it's so dry here I have to water the veg plots most days now, but at least having dried out lawns means less mowing which is a job I'm not keen on.
Think I will have to make a trip to local wool shop this week I'm lucky to have Skeinz wool mill nearby and they have some great bargains and I get most of my wool there as I don't tend to knit with fancy type yarns and as nearly all my knitting is for preschoolers I like real wool not acrylics - they are also on line if anyone interested.
Have a good day and happy knitting!

We have had over an hours rain.. It feels soo much fresher already. It was just heavy enough that the ground would have soaked it up, its not sitting on top.
I did Berties string in the pocket and the seed packet with flowers and writing on. have attatched them. Then thought Id try the daisys for his hat.

Most strange, you cast on 10 sts in double knitting, on 5.5 mm needles then cut thread and using needles sew through the bottom of the stitches while still on needle. Then go back through bottom of the first stitch and pull off needle and I put a couple of extra stitches in to hold it. Very pleased with the effect. Will sew on later.
Will start on the pot plant shortly while I watch coro. So much easier to watch it today than night time.

Pats Im going to be changing our big wall unit in the lounge for a "Unit" of sorts. I got two white bedside tables from a friend, they have cabriole legs. Going to repaint them, white again and then I will get a piece of wood, am thinking an internal door. Cut it down and paint it, put it on top of the bedside cabinets. I will space them apart. Bits and bobs can go in the drawers and my recipe books can go on top with an ornament or two at each end.
Well MrP will paint them, not me, thats one thing I definatly do not do well.

Thanks pops. How do you know if you buy something from an antique shop that the item is for real? Daughter just told me she loves antique wooden stuff, but how do you know it's not a rip off replica?

I guess alot of it is down to luck. But choose shops that have quality looking stuff not junky looking... Also could do your homework on here first, here being tm and google.
Auction houses are a good place too cos they often do estate stuff

Did someone mention blackberry & apple pie? Countdown had blackberries last week, $8.99 for 125gm punnet, that works out a few cents shy of $72kg. Needless to say I didn't buy any.

My dining room suite has cabriole legs - don't think it's antique, though we bought it from a friend when they had an antique shop, but I'm fairly certain it's reproduction but we like it anyway. I don't know why but the chairs in dining room suites are often uncomfortable - hubby always says it's so you don't sit for too long and eat too much.

OMG we gave away heaps of blackberries last year, and havent had as good a year this year but we gave an older couple the other day and it would have been nearly a kilo.

Ive always liked cabriole legs. used to have a bedside table with them on too. But I lost that in one of the moves.. I still dont know where it went.

Having a knitting day today once I have put some extra meals in the freezer. Was given smoked marlin on saturday and MrP has had two meals already and I made the rest into white sauce and will put in the freezer for pies. And made a meatloaf that I was going to cook on saturday, till we got the fish, and will freeze some of the meatloaf for later too.
Do have a look in Carols thread re the Pigs and Bertie Bloomer, she has some awesome pic toys in there that she has made.

We put in a thornless blackberry about 5 years ago and this year the crop has been phenomenal. I'm freezing them as they ripen so they will be available when my apples are ripe. And what is left over will go to a really tasty jam.

So that investment in a thornless blackberry plant has really paid off - the price per kilo you quote is unbelievable! What cheek..

Of course I have to remember the cost buying a large amount of bird netting to keep the marauders off, otherwise a lot of birds would be fluttering off with a big smile on their beak and we would have no berries at all !

daleaway - 2013-03-04 12:37:00
665

Lol Daleaway... Our plant is probably 5-7 years old now. Needs a good pruning.
Bob cat doesnt let the birds get to the fruit. And we also face the vines when we are sitting in the lounge so do see if birds are pinching the now more Prized Produce.
We had vines at another house we owned and I sold them for $7 a full ice cream container full. Thats like 2 kilos worth,... so $140 plus.. for $7 lol

I was looking forward to selling passionfruit this year. Till the new lawn mowing men ringbarked the plant and it all died off an fell off.. and it was loaded. And they go for $24 a kilo..

Not sure if we will replace it or just let the raspberries that we thought we had dug out, but obviously missed some, grow further over to where the passionfruit was.

Mmmmm fresh berries, so yummy! We have no garden as hubby is not a gardener and I get wicked asthma/hay fever, plus the dogs just run over anything and everything. We are planning to fence off part of our yard and start a vege garden though, I'm looking forward to that.
thecritic I saw you had injured your leg, I do hope it's healing well for you and you are able to rest as much as possible, must be so difficult for you xx
Not much knitting/crocheting getting done here still :(
It's our last night in the caravan tonight though, furniture comes back tomorrow *does happy dance*
Been busy supervising big dog and making sure he is resting his leg as much as poss. He's been conning me though, acting as though he needs to toilet, so I put his support sling under his abdomen, put the leash on and off outside we go..... get to the deck and he sits down to sunbathe, didn't want to toilet at all!!
Oooh have just noticed all the dogs are napping - I'm off for a quick crochet session....

Lol the cunning hound dog Maible.. But maybe the warmth frm the sun is helping ease his bones and muscles etc.

Dont you just love knitting two strands of double knitting on size 11 needles. arggghhhh.. still its nearly all done. have to knit the water and drip for the watering can. Then the flowers for the pot and the mushrooms for the head and Im done. Will be making his way to Tauranga later in the week.. provided I dont have any interuptions.

Best go attend to the veges for dinner so I can do MrPs insulin etc...

Morning all. I hope everyone is being productive.

I have the dirt patch and mushrooms to knit then have to sew up the flower pot and attatch. the watering can and attatch. Then put the mushies on top and glue Berties eyes on.. Ohh and get these very delicate daisys on around the brim of his hat. I may end up glueing them on I reckon..

Feel I have achieved something in the last couple of days.. finally.

Was meant to do my INR this morning but couldnt be bothered going out. So will do tomorrow and will pick up a library book I ordered as well.

Hope it's not too long before you are fully mobile again.

Morning all, so sorry to see your leg is infected thecritic, must be awful for you, sending healing vibes your way and hope it's better soon. Love your knitting and card, all just beautiful.
armin I love the wee vest especially in that wool, looks gorgeous. You a such a great knitter.
Had an awesome sleep back in my own bed last night, the caravan has gone, furniture is back - complete with a large hole in the cane back of my loved Bergere sofa. Was not happy I can tell you....
Fell off a stool yesterday while putting some drapes up so have a lovely bruised/scraped lower leg, a good excuse to sit and knit. Need hubby to help move some furniture for me before I can unpack anyway.
Those eyebrows won;t take you long popeye, I'm really looking forward to seeing the finished Bertie :)
Have a safe day everyone xo

Thanks maible - must stay off those stools , there is a conspiracy to have us all on crutches LOL. Shame about your damaged furniture - I can see our caravan parked on the drive and half of our old furniture is stuck in the house in CHCH (waiting to be demolished), we just couldn't get it out :-(
I should be going and having a shower but the whole thing of wrapping my leg in gladwrap and taping it all up is delaying the process. I am feeling a bit low today as I accepted a fixed price offer on an auction last week and only a third of it has turned up - am not very hopeful at seeing the rest of it either. I shall soldier on with my antibiotics and knitting needles.

thecritic - 2013-03-06 09:53:00

thecritic, I can understand you putting off having a shower, would be a very tiring exercise for you. I know how difficult I found it when I had a broken ankle in a cast (can you tell I'm very accident prone lol).
What a pain about the auction too, do hope the rest of it turns up!
I was just thinking yesterday about what a relief it is for us to have our repairs done at last, but how dreadful it is for people like yourselves who lost their homes and possessions, and had to move away. Even for us, having minimal damage it has been a depressing and frustrating time, unable to do anything until the work has been completed.
Now we are back to the battle with Arrow over our block boundary fences....
I feel so deeply for everyone that is in a worse situation, so many people in tough conditions still :(

My craft work helps me cope and I'm looking forward to setting up my craft room again, it won't be as awesome as yours though!
Hope your day improves xo

Maybe I will come and visit you to cheer you up TC.
Pops I saw one of your Knitted toys in the op shop for $10.00. It saddened me that someone had put all that love into knitting the marvelous creation and it ended up unloved at the op shop.
Help I'm about to try and use circulars for the first time, on a dress made out of sock wool. Advice please. I bought a neat book called Sock Yarn, One-Skein Wonders. Gorgeous stuff, I'm having a go at the fiesta dress. Anyone knitted this. The book has heaps of patterns to knit with sock wool. I recommend you buy it. Book dipository has the book for about $22.00. Bye.

Wow you ladies had better stay off stools etc... Ouchies.. I cant say Im too accident prone, but did slip on the wet garage floor last july and still cant sit long. Concrete and tailbones are not a smart mix.
Touch wood Ive never had a broken bone, other than having the ribs cut through of course lol...
Id not be happy with a third of the auction either..

Have done the eyebrows. Have the mushrooms and grass on the patch. The flower pot is together.
So I just need to connect the watering can. then put the daisys and eye brows on. Then Ill put the latch and pot and can on. So he will be done tonight. And taken for him outing in the morning. To the medlab and supermarket.

My twin rang about 30 mins ago, my great nephew was being induced as we spoke. Poor girl has been in labour since sunday and her waters broke on sunday.. she is 17, I know of another young girl who was in labour for days too. Im starting to wonder if they are doing it on purpose, so they dont rush into it a second time.
His name is Pheonix Andrew Kaz Thomassen... So he will be Pakt. My bro is calling his Packet already lol.

How long do these things take after being induced?

lovely knitting armin, might have a look at the book depository (love that site!) for the book you have recommended. What a shame about the knitted toy, hopefully it will go to someone who will cherish it.
Have begun knitting a matinee set for the new grandy, knitted the back then thought oh heck, looks miles too big so unpicked it and an begining again. Luckily babies are tiny and knitting isn't too much fuss!

I have always thought cabriole legs a little slender for some of my family. But I love the shape.
Oh my goodness, I have just remembered a random fact. The Victorians didn't like to expose thier lower legs so some folk put little skirts on thier chair and table legs.
