Yes She says these appear to be the treatments that will stop rash spreading and ease Mum. Hope that helps. Good shopping girls. I took my Invalid son and my grandson to Hamilton yesterday. It was a rush trip and I arrived home at 8 Last night. S is off overseas so have moved into main house for 2 weeks to help A with my granddaughter who is putting on weight nicely. So both of mygirls have their men overseas. I am officially the Mobile Nanny. Ha ha.

Started our own thread about it under parenting. Got a good response from some other mums. Does your daughter know what the side effects would be to baby from using the hydrocortisone or antihistamines?

Zoes Sis Hi everyone, Zoes Sister Carol here.

Saw Zoe the other day and she was in good spirits.

I had day surgery yesterday and am still getting over it, so have spent the day doing plastic canvas (my passion also).

Any one wanting to know more about plastic canvas let me know. I have a great book on learning the craft, and as I am a retailer for selling it I can also supply you with the canvas.

Happy crafting.
Carol

Hi grizzly T says it is safer to take in 3rd trimester because baby is fully formed but suggests you do some more research. She has never seen any detremental effects on babies but as we all know some times things do not appear for ages. She also says Pinetarsol baths, calamine lotion etc are really good to ease itching unless rash gets infected. There are heaps of herbal creams around. It is so hard isn't it what works for one person may not be any good for another. Depends on a person's medical history. MR will not feed off the breast now and her Mum has to express every 4 hours and we feed her through a bottle. Talk about time consuming. My girls are shattered. T has a rotten cold now because her immune system is low. One more day of that drug and she can stop taking it. Says Specialist again tomorrow.

Excuse spelling error girls Feel a bit tired myself but need to unwind before bed. Took one of the dogs for a walk tonight and that near killed me ha ha. Have not been to the gym for a week and miss it but shingles and workouts don't gel. ha ha. We are all telling ourselves next Month will be much better.

Here's hoping so ! Daughter has been in hospital for 24 hours. Lots of blood tests taken and ultrasounds, they come up with a diagnosis and then change their minds an hour later. They are now saying that she is at least 24 weeks and in all likely hood will be delivered at 36-37 weeks. That makes for an early May baby not an end of June baby as originally scheduled at the beginning of the pregnancy. I'm amazed the opinions are so varied considering all the technology these days.

Shingles, makerealbany? I didn't realise and it doesn't seem to have slowed you down much, either. I hope you get over that soon and I bet your daughter is pleased that medication is finished. Will it take long to recover from the side effects do you know?

grizzly4 - 2008-02-14 09:01:00
659

makereal and grizzly, you are both going through tough times, you poor things. grizzly it is a worry with so many different answers. at least she is in the right place.
Makereal like grizzly, I did not realise you had shingles. try to slow down and look afer your self.
One of my girl had 2 babies and she had to express from the start as they would not take to the breast. timewise it was like feeding two babies. i spent as much time with so i could feed them, as her husband was also away a lot with his job.

Yippee tomorrow is Friday! Still coughing but made it through the week at work. Finished a wee cardy for the shop and half way through a beanie and sox order. Picked up wool left for me for a dolls layette order as well. Funny how other things pick up when I just want to knit for baby and also do vests for other 2 grandsons. So much drama in family with my son and my daughter this week, thank goodness for knitting!
Hubby at Speedway tonight so I have bought chinese takeaway just for me and settling in for an evening in front of the tele.

Hi girls Started getting shingles when I worked in the Pacific years ago and the little beggars pop up when Immune system is low. Only get them 3 or 4 times a year. T is feeling a bit stronger today although she had a bad night last night. Her Husband is flying in tomorrow from the States and out again on Monday to Malaysia. Well I guess 3 days home and 3 weeks away is the best he can do. Not!!!! Yes grizzly they all have different opinions and it is frustrating. As mothers we feel it all. Gosh you are good with your knitting. I have not knitted a stitch for 2 nights. So much to do with baby.

Think I caught your cold grizzly I have been popping vitamin c all day because I have a sore throat, Think it was time spent at hospital with all that air conditioning. Yuk. I have to get rid of this especially with bubs or I won't be able to hold her. Damm it.

Hey smartgirl Never did get my wool from that auction. Sent sad feedback and they replied that they wanted my bank account to make a refund but I have never received one email from them. Must check my bank account to see if they have banked. I very much doubt it. If you cannot send an email well!!!!

makerealbany - 2008-02-14 22:57:00
665

Buggar makereal, it was nice wool too. not much you can do though. I bet you got your cold from the hospital they give them out to keep the visitors at bay, I am glad everything is settling down. I am away up north in the morning so I doubt I will get on here till monday. take care girls.

Have a great weekend, smartgirl... and sorry about the cold, makerealbany!!!! I need to steralise the keys on my computer, I guess. Ha ha. Really wet here today, great for the garden and the farmers and the ducks! I was going to help my son with his garden tomorrow but it might too mucky after today. (Says the city girl!)

Imagine there being that many messages already! Hope you are keeping up with the gossip Zoe even if you aren't leaving messages. Can't help but think of you each time I'm on the thread!
Another very wet day today. Even the ducks have gone for cover. Might be a good cross-stitch day, but wee grandson is starting to move a bit faster than me now so will have to pick my times.Ha ha.

Well blow me Smartgirl, I got a refund for that wool. It is great but the only email I ever received from her was a copy of what appeared on my bank account. No explanation nadda.!!!!! Yep I have that cold in full force so I have to keep away from bubs. I am feeling really horrible and yes you had better start sterilizing your keys grizzly. I can't even sterilize bubs bottles at the mo. Ah well have to see the doc on Monday. Off to bed early for me tonight don't know if I will sleep though. Probably cough my way into the middle of next week. Ha ha.

Slept like a log last night Did not wake until 11-30 today. I still feel droll but otherwise!!!!!! Did some knitting last night and will finish knitting my cotton top tonight at long last. This is the longest it has taken me to knit anything. Just itching( no not the shingles that has settled) to start knitting a mohair jumper for myself. Got the pattern picked and all. Had 2 grandchildren and their dad here for tea. My grandaughter was picked up by her Aunt yesterday to come and help with bubs because of my cold. She has been a great help to her Aunty but was not that keen on learning to change dirty naps. Ha ha. Daughter got a second breastpump with dual bottles on trademe. She also bought a replacement set of things for this pump.

makerealbany - 2008-02-17 19:15:00
671

New pump is a Medella She can do both breasts at once and it takes about 15 mins so she is just wrapt. The Avent took about an hour although she could only do one at a time so she knows all about breatpumps now. Little M R slept from 10 to 6 in the morning so her Mummy was pleased about that as well, so was her big cousin, ha ha. We have not had any decent rain here grizzly and we really need it. Would love to see some ducks as well. Hope you enjoyed your visit up north smartgirl.

Went to the docs today Got some medication, came home and slept the whole afternoon. Lol. Not very productive. Grand daughter is just seeing me across the room because of the darn flu. I really miss hugging and nuturing her. Sigh. Was so dopey with the flu this morning did not check my TM. Now I see that I won another wool auction. Moonlight mist. I quite like the wool but it was so expensive when it first came out in Spotlight. Mind you that was a few years ago. Was talking to Mum about her b day and that is getting closer and I have not even decided what kind of a cake I will do. March 1st is the day of the party. Hope you girls are okay.

makerealbany - 2008-02-18 18:33:00
673

makereal, i thought of you as i was driving through albany and i am glad you have been to the doctor. i called into spotlight but they did not have very much left, just as well as i had made 3 trips to our local one last week and 1 to the whangarei store. I had great news this weekend, my whangarei family are all moving back to hamilton in april. i have missed them so much. then i will only have a daughter and g/son in australia to miss. makes more sense.

Good morning everyone I see the message spirits are playing havoc again today. Weird stuff. Hope the drugs have started to do their job, makerealbany. And I'm pleased you had a safe journey, smartgirl. I have to wonder what drugs my girls (3 cats) are on this morning. They are chasing each other the length of the house and back. Sounds like a herd of elephants as they are no longer petite young things!!In fact we have a lot in common, really.

grizzly4 - 2008-02-19 08:52:00
675

Half way through a baby doll layette (order for shop) but they have supplied the wool and its 8ply merino. Not the cheapest choice for dolls clothes, eh? And I hope they don't have to wash it very often. Pretty but not very practical. Nice to be doing something a bit different though.

good morning ladies, yes grizzly, this board is acting crazy. on mine the post about your daughter in hospital is the last one. that was dated the 14th. I hope she is getting things sorted out.

677

Hi there girls Good news for you smartgirl with your family moving back to Hamilton. Well thanks for telling me about Spotlight. I was thinking of going to Wairau Park tomorrow if I felt up to it now I won't bother. Ha ha. You are a knitting machine grizzly. I have to knit bubs more mittens as the wee ones are too small( isn't that neat) now and the others are too big. I still can't go near her and her Mum so it is like being in Quarantine. Dah!!!1

makerealbany - 2008-02-19 12:53:00
678

Hey smartgirl I would have invited you over for a coffee but not with this bug bab. Next time!!!! You would be cursing me if you had caught this bug. My daughter that was in Hospital got it and then I did and I reckon you are right. You catch all kinds of bugs in the hospital environment.

makerealbany - 2008-02-19 12:57:00
679

No problems makereal, you can keep your bug. haha. no really, i didnt expect an invite when you are sick. next time. how is that daughter, coming right. you have just taken on too much lately, but thats how it goes, all or nothing. glad you got your refund.

The message spooks are having a great time aren't they? I wish I would hurry up & finish these dolls clothes, I am so over them now! Just have the wee sleeves on the lacy dress and a bonnet to do. Mind you if there is still wool left may do a jacket but I kind of hope theres not. Look after yourself, makerealbany, my flu stuck around for 2 full weeks even with prednisone. I feel fine now but still get very tired by 4ish. I am so pleased your family is going to be closer, smartgirl, I don't know how my parents can bear to live so far from the rest of us.

every time i come into this thread it is at a different date. this morning the last post was on the 14th. i went out and came back in and it is now normal. it seems if you get the flu at this time of the year it is always hard to get rid of. grizzly there is so much work in these little dolls clothes and they are so fiddly as well. have a good day. makereal are you feeling a bit better today

smartgirl - 2008-02-20 09:43:00
682

Normal???!!! Mines not. There are at least 5 messages from the 14 &16 Feb after our ones today. It's starting to annoy me. I have to remind myself to rake some photos to show you of my cardy and the dolls set . I guess this message will appear at some point in the future to do just that. Haha.

Hi girls Feeling a bit better today which means I am no longer sneezing ha!! You gave me a good laugh about these messages. It is pretty wierd at times. Everyone seems to be recuperating nicely. Touch wood. Mum used to knit and crochet dolls clothes for all the kids dolls. They are fiddly though. Had to get a load of water this morning. Only got a small load as it is supposed to rain here on Sat.Crocheting my top together the bubbly cotton is too hard to stitch together.

makerealbany - 2008-02-21 12:36:00

I may knit myself another jersey. I have some nice wool so yea that is what I will do. Bubs is sleeping right through the night. YAY!!!!! Called into Farmers and bought a nice pair of jeans for $10 they have their summer sale on. Got 3 prs summer pjs for the kids at $3 a pr. Saw other Grandmas doing the same thing. Shopping for their familes. Aren't Grandmas just wonderful?

Powercut Just come back from Orewa. My youngest daughter and Bubs are up there for the night because we had a powercut about 6-30 and they said it would not be sorted till 9-30 so off we went. We are thinking of getting an emergency generator. It is hard with bubs and we get heaps of darn powercuts here.

Supposed to be hot here today I'm off to help my son with his garden then bring my grandson back for the weekend. Been to the Toy Library to keep him busy. I enjoyed the Farmers sale a few weeks ago. Got a pair of black pants 50% off. Were $50 should have been $25 but computer at counter kept coming up $2.50 so thats what they charged me!!! Now that doesn't happen often, eh? Mind you they are still waiting for the hems to be turned and the fairies keep missing that job.

Great buying girls Especially your pants grizzly. Got 6 prs of sox for my 18 yr old g/son for 47 cents from warehouse. Reduced from $12 99. I buy heaps of sox in their sales, I have a drawer of them and they come in so handy. Bubs has sox to fit her until she is 5. Ha ha. I cannot help it. Gee it is lonely here. It has poured all night and the wind was foul smartgirl so I stayed in the main house. We still have to drop a few more pines next to the cottage and when it gets too windy I am out of there. ha ha. My other girl , her hubby and family are loving having bubs and A up there so I am going to watch a movie and knit. I can't access your photos grizzly. Have to try again later.

I am knackered... Very successful morning in my son's garden. He is very pleased. Had a lovely visit from pregnant daughter and guess what. She's gone against everything the doctors have said and the rash has gone!!! Took more than 2 weeks so who knows what it was. Maybe she can go full term now but nobodys saying and she hasn't had any results from all the tests they took! She's looking much better so I am so pleased... I have to wonder what this wee boy is going to throw at her next! I have my 9 month grandson here tonight. took a wee while to settle, could be the heat, I suppose. Its very muggy but the wind is howling and it's drizzling. Can't go to bed till hubby gets home from speedway. There's champs on tonight.

Hi girls Great to hear your daughter is feeling better grizzly. Went up to Orewa for tea with the family. Had a wonderful Indian meal. My youngest son was there with his family and Master 4 was sitting next to his dad feeding his little cousin. He is starting to show an interest in her now because she smiles at him and growls when she is hungry. ha ha. He told us he will teach her how to run and play rugby when she gets bigger!!!! A and bubs are up there for another night because it is still a bit rough here. I am at home with the cats and dogs. My other girl is feeling better she is off all medication and trying alternative stuff.

makereal, i am so pleased for her she must have thought she was going mad. its funny how little one react with littler ones. my 2 year old g/daughter only really started to enjoy her sister when she sat up, suddenly she had a playmate. you should see them in the bath together. what fun

smartgirl - 2008-02-24 08:54:00

Bottom water tank is full But I cannot transfer water to top tank because there appears to be a blockage. B----ger it. Will go and check filters once it stops raining. Do not want to get another dose of flu. Ha. We have a quarter of a tank filled at the top but I just hate to see water going to waste. Wanted to finish some beanies for our charity smartgirl but cannot find the stuffing for the pompoms. I have bought so much wool that I have to search for it as it is buried in a huge blanket basket. ha ha. Got the potroast in the slow cooker because A and Bubs are coming home today. Yey. I miss all her noise. Have you girls seen any Moda Vera patterns at all? I do not think they even make any.

makerealbany - 2008-02-24 13:26:00

hi makereal, is that the same as feathers, if so you could use a feathers pattern, what are you wanting to knit.

smartgirl - 2008-02-24 14:38:00

Try doing a search in knitting patterns here on TM. May come up with something for you, makerealbany. I bought some lovely wee buttons for childrens jumpers off TM last week. Little cars, planes and flowers, Lovely quality and she has heaps if you want to have a look on the button site.
