morning ladies :) Painting the loo today, hopefully I will finish it today, if not then tomorrow. Then a break before I start the bedrooms.

MrK isn't well, he has a tummy bug which could be problematic considering I'm painting the loo! What is it with men when they are sick? I'm over the 'poor me' attitude already.

Should get some knitting done today, the loo is only a small room after all.

Happy knitting :)

Morning everyone.
Well done Jayemtoo on the top of the page lol.

Have a good time Carole.

Ohh Kiwimade you have my commiserations. I am usually A lot deafer if MrP is sick like that... lol

Well done on the furry one vs the mouse. It must be hard mouse wise, with the maize then the cold sending them inside.

Going to a house viewing with my friend this morning, before we do the shopping.. Its over our back fence lol.. Will be sad to see the current neighbours go, that have been there 6 plus years. But at least if my friend gets it we know her and don't have to worry about having a bad neighbour.

I had another terrible nights sleep. It was a late night and I thought Id sleep well.. Ill be taking a pill tonight.

I started a 9-12 month top down dress last night. To give me something no think to do when I'm sick of sewing.. And do you think I could get the hole detail done properly lol... I think I had too much of my mind on the tv lol.. But Im to the knit section before casting off for the sleeves so its straight forward from there. Doing it for CMA in some of their wool its a cream tweed look.

Well have a good day everyone

Morning

Hope the loo painting takes precedence over the tummy but Kiwimade - got to get priorities right eh?

Yes Popeye it will be good to know your new neighbours before they move in.

Am having a blitz on the windows, cleaning them by hand instead of just hosing and brushing them so will have to go and borrow sister's little step ladder as mine is bigger so more of a hassle to move around.

Hope to be able to put up feet for a wee while this pm and knit before going out late pm.

Do have a good day in all your activities

The tummy bug won. He is in the loo every 20 minutes or so. I'm going to call and make a docs appointment if he doesn't. Am over his grump and him not doing anything about it.

But I have put the second coat of paint on one door which finishes it so we can hang it this afternoon and have sanded down the second outdoor chair ready for painting after my cuppa.

Would be lovely to know your neighbour before they move in, popeye. Fingers crossed for you both.

The viewing for the house got cancelled. So I rang the landlord and he came in, but she couldn't go and look. The tenants stuck to their guns, they weren't given any notice for the viewing.
But the LL was pleased she already knew us and the back neighbour behind that house. So they will ring her when they can arrange a viewing.

Kiwimade if its the runs rather than throwing up condensed milk straight from the can and help bung him up again. Just watch for dehydration, although I know MrP wont even help himself that way either.

You have all our sympathies Im sure

Codiene doesn't work for me. I take a fair amount of codeine and never been bunged up from it

Evening ladies, another trip to the supermarket today to waste more good money that could have been spent on yarn. Also went to the Warehouse to return a couple of tops I bought which didn't fit (I didn't have time to try them on). Course I spent much more than the value of what I returned. Bought some plants and fertiliser for the garden and came home and actually planted the plants.

Be interesting to see who wins the by-election on Saturday. I had a phone call the other evening from someone on behalf of one of the candidates, but I cut them short and said I wasn't interested. The person went on to say "but surely you" and I cut him off again and said "I'm not remotely interested". I don't need some political party crone telling me why I should be voting for them. I can make up my own mind.

Hope Mr K has finished on the loo and is feeling better. Not sure which is worse, not being able to go or not being able to stop!

Right, going to put my feet up and knit.

Night all.

well he seems to be on the mend, I went to the chemist and bought some stuff for him to take so tomorrow I can finally get the loo painted. I did manage to put one coat of paint on the outside chair, a cupboard door and sliding door painted and a sealant on the pelmet after bleaching it for a bit of mould. All fiddly bits that needed to be done eventually so not a 'wasted' day with the paint brush. And I finished reading a book which was a bonus :)

Time to knit, that's if I don't nod off on the couch!

morning girls. Kiwi don't over work yourself you might blow a fufu valve . had a great day out got home at 4pm did plenty of walking, got corght in the rain last night when we went walking. just the necks and hoods on boys jumpers to do very slow this time

Morning ladies, I'm being very lazy this morning, got up and made a cup of tea and slice of toast then came back to bed. We have thick fog at the moment.

Might try to do the ironing and sort through my clothes and take some to the op shop, or then again I might start making new curtains for the bedroom. I don't have to worry about not having enough fabric as mr k doesn't like the fabric I had planned to use, he wants the same as in the family room/dining room and I have oodles of that.

And no doubt I will do some knitting.

Have a super day everyone.

Morning everyone.

Everyone are busy bees that's for sure.

If it stays fine Im off to help sort out the second half of the CMA shed today. It shouldn't take us long this time. And certainly no chance of sunburn today.

Im to the no think stage on the tweed top down dress now. So Ill get back to sewing later today and knit at night..

Took a pill last night and slept well. Only woke twice so that's better than every 20 minutes or so. Ill probably take another tonight, then should be ok to stay off them for a few more nights.

Right I better hustle my butt and get a few things done.

Have a good day all

morning ladies :) Ceiling, pelmets, window and door frames all painted with the first coat after I had sanded it all down. So a good start to the day. Will do the second coat after I have taken MrK to the docs, he still has that bug and three days of it is a bit much I think.

So it's going to be an ANZAC final in the cricket, can't wait for that!

Will try and get some knitting done, just so much to do around the house at the moment, all those fiddly finishing off bits. Want to make the most of the warm weather for paint to dry reasonably quickly.

Happy knitting :)

Morning all
Woke at usual time and thought it was still middle of night it was so dark. Don't like thought of shorter days at all. Overcast at present.
Have a bit of outside work to do today then it can rain as much as it likes.

Still doing socks want to do one more pair then onto something totally different.
Keep those needles clicking everyone :)

6918

morning ladies :) I've FINISHED the painting :D :D :D Well, not the bedrooms but the main living area. MrK is going to hang the doors and put the drier back for me so I can wash the floors. Am so chuffed with myself. So now I can get the gardens back up to scratch so I'll have time to knit :) lol.

I'm still working on the aran jersey, just a bit slower than usual. We are having new neighbours soon and they are expecting a baby early May so I'll knit one of those 6 week top down jumpers for baby as a welcome gift and maybe some booties. Will be lovely to have a young family on our road :)

Happy knitting :)

kiwimade64 - 2015-03-28 08:10:00
6919

Morning everyone. Its very overcast here and trying to rain. I don't think it will be too heavy tho..
Well done Kiwimade on finishing all the painting etc... great feeling I bet.

Yes it will be nice having a young family next door. who knows maybe Maddy and the baby will become friends.

We found a house for my friend yesterday. It suits her very well and she has definitly got this one. Its a little 2.5 bedroom beach cottage. About 10ish minutes out of town. And is what I call a Higildy pigildy house. The Kitchen is smack in the middle of the house. And one room has access through another. But I can really see her living there.

So now we have to hope we get good neighbours for the house over our back fence.

I helped sort the other half of the CMA shed yesterday. Ive got all the sewing notions at home to tidy up and sort out. I did three huge bags of zips last night. So they are in bags with their lengths on. And stacked nicely into a box. They just don't bother looking to see what they have, they tell people to buy what they need and get reimbursed, yet there's tonnes of stuff there to use.

So that's my Job today.. Ill sit on the floor and sort through it all and make a record of what they have.

Have a good day everyone

popeye333 - 2015-03-28 09:31:00
6920

I had fun this afternoon going through all the buttons...

I got all the other stuff sorted this morning.. Then sat on the floor on a sheet and had an ice cream container full of buttons spread out. Missy helped me.. She sat opposite me, but only touched the buttons twice.

Sorted them into matching first, then same coloured with the last ones.. Ive loved playing in buttons since I was a kid.

Now that's all done I will knit tonight. And get back to Melvin mouse tomorrow.

We have had a lot of good showers of rain today, coming down steady at the mo.

Hope everyone has had a good day

popeye333 - 2015-03-28 17:41:00
6921

had a very productive day today :) The doors are back where they should be, the drier has been moved from the living room back into the laundry, both outside chairs have been painted (the first one needed a few touch ups) and I sanded and painted an old bench seat MrK built over 20 years ago. Look great all spruced up too. Laundry floor all washed and all my tools have been cleaned and put away. Drop cloths all washed and ready for when I paint the bedrooms.

Dad phoned this evening and loves his tablet we bought him for his birthday. He's 76 years old and finally getting online lol and loving it. Said it was the best gift he has ever had and he has never had so much fun figuring out how to use something.

Time for my cuppa and some knitting I think :)

kiwimade64 - 2015-03-28 20:46:00
6922

Well done on your Dad for enjoying his new tablet.

Well we have a new MP for northland - well done Winnie! So John Key's 10 new bridge bribe didn't work.

I didn't get started on the curtains yesterday, but I did a mountain of ironing, and then had a lady visit who wanted some alterations done. Two dresses just need shortened, but another dress needs taking in which is quite involved, needing an invisible zip removing and putting back in, so I made a start on that. Should have taken the woolrest to the laundrette as it turned out a fabulous day and tomorrow is supposed to rain.

I've been playing yarn chicken with a pair of gloves, and ended up doing them a wee bit shorter than the pattern says, and even then I had to unpick the casting off and one row of knitting and then cast off again.

Going to get back to the poppies for Whangarei hospital now.

Night all.

kuaka - 2015-03-28 21:17:00

morning all. well kuaka I hope you get your 10 new bridges and seal roads too. I made a cover for K's bed looks ok. and on the hoods of the twins jumpers.

6924

morning ladies :) Well I suppose it was a given Winnie would win, I hope he does make a difference for those of you in the North.

Black caps game this afternoon so this morning it's housework and catching up on those jobs I've neglected over the past few weeks. I can hide behind my knitting if and when the game gets too tense lol.

Happy knitting :)

Morning all

Well done on finishing the painting Kiwimade.
Good on Winnie, will make Parliament a bit more interesting I should think and John Key was emphatic that the bridges were not a bribe and that you were to get them anyway Kuaka - I suggest you just don't start holding your breath waiting for them though!!

Plodding on with the socks, intrigued how the pattern of the wool works out but would not guarantee I could ever reproduce it again. At least the toe up socks are pretty straight forward and don't need much concentration so I can read or watch tv while doing them.

Have a good day all

jayemtoo - 2015-03-29 08:39:00

Morning everyone. Another Fan of Winnie here too.. he says it how he feels, and I like that.

What a hot night we have had. MrP had some massive anginas last night. He was considering going to hospital but decided to give the nitrolingual spray one more shot. And it eased it.. And I made him use his asthma inhaler too cos he was wheezy as. I got some baby wipes out of the fridge and wiped him down. So he managed to go back to sleep. He's tired this morning but much better.

Very wet today.. Almost there for my dream morning of raining and cold.. We just gotta get the cold part right.

Missy is One today. Ill get her a treat when I go up to the shop. And get something for her sister "Sahree" too.

Then Ill get back to Melvin.. And knit tonight while watching the game. Which Ill watch in bed when it gets late.

HAve a good day everyone

popeye333 - 2015-03-29 09:32:00
6927

morning ladies :) Well we lost the cricket but overall I think the Black Caps were fantastic. Awesome role models for our kids to look up too (and adults too).

I did get some knitting done, am about halfway up the back of the jumper. Am not happy with the yarn but the jersey is for when our grandy is at Playcentre so is going to get grubby and well worn anyway. I can knit it again next year in a nicer wool if our daughter wants a nicer 'version' of it.

Have a few things to do in town then out into the garden weather permitting. We will be dog sitting my sister's dog for a week tomorrow so will have both the Furry and Fluffy Ones racing round madly. They will love it.

Happy knitting :)

Morning everyone.
It was a good game of cricket.. Any team with a crowd of 93,013 is bound to win. I didn't watch the prize giving as such so don't know what is wrong with Vetoris leg as yet.

Overcast here. A nice breeze.

I have the 5 knit rows to do on the top down dress, then Ill get the buttons. I know which ones I want to put on it.

Hosing down now, so have had to shut the ranchslider and window...

Have a good day everyone

popeye333 - 2015-03-30 09:07:00
6929

Morning ladies.

Brilliant sunny day here with a cool breeze, Mr K has put the heat pump on despite it being 20 degrees in the lounge, it's not humid so it does feel a bit cooler.

I only watched the last hour or so of the cricket. I actually managed to sit on the bed and knit two poppies as I watched, now have to do the centres for 5 or 6. I'll do a few more and then send them to the hospital, and then think of something else to knit. I might even go back to my zigzag blanket.

Puss and I aren't friends this morning as I gave her a worm tablet. She fought. She doesn't like having tablets, she's not a good patient.

I better get cracking, I still have a dress to shorten, the lady is coming at 3, I just have to do one row of stitching around the hem on the machine (it's a cotton jersey knit dress so I have to do a stretch stitch) and I had better start on a bit of a spring clean and tidy up as we have Mr K's son coming to stay at the end of next week, so I need to do a bit of a housework blitz before then. Oh dear. I hate housework with a passion.

Happy knitting everyone.

Ohh Not good Carole, I was just thinking this morning that you had been well for a wee while.

Im pleased with my efforts today. Finished the top down for the 9-12 month. And have put a lot of Melvin together.
Still have to do his face and ears. Put that one then sew his pants up and put on. So still a little work but getting there.

Im going to start another snake tonight I think...

Good morning everyone. Not Often I am first for the day.

Off to club this morning, so I had to load all the stuff back into the car. I hope the lady I pick up decides to only use her walking stick today, cos I cant get her walker in.

MrP is still in bed. And Missy strangely enough is up. Shes not a morning cat by any means. Maybe shes just doing Mummy and Me time.

Hope the furry and fluffy ones have fun today. Has the new house arrived yet Kiwimade?

I started a snake last night. Black, Yellow and Red, which is the colour of a true snake, but I couldn't help but think its Waikato's rugby colours lol.
Ill take a photo of the top down later. I have it pressing under a heavy serving plate lol.

Looks like its going to be a fab day. So have a good one everyone

popeye333 - 2015-03-31 07:44:00
6933

morning ladies :) No, the house arrives in the wee hours tomorrow morning (wed morning) so exciting stuff happening on our road. The family won't be moving in until the end of May, they also have a two year old :) so they will be very busy with the house and two little ones.

The Fluffy One arrives this morning with dad and dad is taking us out to lunch so I want to get the lawns mowed before they get here. Bin man has just been so there is room in the wheelie bin now for some clippings.

I finished the back of the jumper last night, was an odd pattern as there was no casting off for under the arm, just straight into decreasing.

Happy knitting.

6937

morning ladies, bit nippy here this morning, Mr K is still in bed, and I would probably be if the cat hadn't woken me up miaowing to go out.

Knit and natter this morning, then I have plenty of chores to do when I get back, I've started de-cluttering the spare bedroom but there's still a bit more to do, and both vehicles need a shampoo and set! The sooner we get rid of the old wagon the better I feel, especially as Mr K doesn't drive and I can only drive them one at a time.

We get a pay rise today, wonder how much it will be. Usually it's barely enough to buy a bottle of milk or a loaf of bread. Maybe this time it will be enough so I can splash out on a muffin to go with my coffee on my knit and natter mornings, but I probably won't anyway.

Have to find something easy to knit.

Have a super day everyone.

Morning

That is lovely Popeye, that is such a great pattern which I have done quite a few times and now has sleeves as well which I think makes it even more versatile.

Have a "pottering" day planned - washing, bit of housework, outside, supermarket, knitting and whatever else pops up and I feel in the mood to do. Rather like just pottering around like this at times.
Only thing I must remember to do is pick up sister and her husband from the plane at 8pm and take them to their home. They have been to Auckland and it is a bit later flight than usual so must not get too comfortable this evening and forget! will not be popular if that happens lol.

Have a good day everyone

jayemtoo - 2015-04-01 08:32:00
6939

morning ladies :) Lovely wee top popeye, knits up nice in tweed :)

No knitting for me last night, too hard to knit with two dogs wanting my attention!

The house removal truck arrived early this morning so we got up to watch them. Wow, amazing how the driver manoeuvred the house to where he wanted it. Pretty clever idea to relocate houses I think.

Gardening for me today, time to catch up on the weeding and pruning. But first I have to buy some more cleaner for my karcher window cleaner so I can finish the windows.

Happy knitting :)

kiwimade64 - 2015-04-01 08:34:00
6940

Yes, Kiwimade it is amazing what those house removal trucks can do. We bought an house at Waiheke Island and moved it a few km down the road, it still faced the same direction but was on the opposite side of the road, so we never knew which was the front and which was the back, as what had been the front now faced the back garden, and what had been the back now faced the road.

Years ago my in-laws built a house on a new subdivision, and were one of the first to occupy a house there. She got up one morning and looked out her kitchen window and there was a house which hadn't been there the day before. They'd moved it in during the night. She said it was a bit of a surprise. You don't expect a house to appear overnight.

kuaka - 2015-04-01 09:02:00
6941

Morning everyone.
Loves the days now that are fine but cool enough to enjoy.

Yes Im very pleased with the dress. I haven't got the pattern with the sleeves. I must look it up.

Kuaka we don't get the full amount of the pay rise until 21st of April. Think I saw it was something like $12ish. A couple of balls of wool lol.

I finished the Mice last night so must txt Thistle and let her know.

I love when they move houses. We had one happen a few months ago up the road and they actually lifted it Over the front house on the section. That was impressive. And don't in the daytime so the road was blocked.

They took one out of the school grounds over from us one night. And the truck came straight towards our front fence. He must have only cleared it by inches.
Its amazing how quiet they can be.

Have to do a few errands up the road this morning.

Ohh I got a call from one of the ladies at club yesterday, we made $65 on the easter raffle I put together. They were absolutely wrapped. It covered the cost of the hot cross buns we had for morning tea, and the easter bunnies we all got.
Then I was asked if Id make a toy for one of the ladies (didn't catch her name) whose daughter is finally having her first baby. She's in her 40's. And its the first grandie.. I feel accepted now And honoured.

Right better get the A into G and get some things done.

Have a good day everyone

You all must have been busy yesterday lol.

Lovely cooler start to the day here. Yay I think Autumn might finally be here lol.

Im soo pleased they found Lundy guilty again. Never believed he was innocent.

Shopping this morning. MrP will stay home, hes not interested in going out at the mo.

Plodding away on my Waikato coloured snake. Its bright that's for sure lol.

Kiwimade I hope you haven't been run ragged by the furry and fluffy ones lol

Have a good day all

Morning all

Love the mice Popeye - bit ironical though that Kiwimade is busy killing them off as you produce them lol. - yours are so much a nicer type of mouse to have.

Finally finished the outside windows - left the too late yesterday and they were so hot they dried the water as I put it on and left them very streaky so out earlier today and now they are looking good again which means we will probably get a southerly this weekend to dirty them up again.

Have managed to reproduce my stripe and spot sock wool so now want to try and do it again so will dye some more wool today and of course then have to knit it up to see what it looks like.

Happy knitting

morning ladies :) lol jayemtoo, I think popeye's mice are much nicer too!

It was a busy day yesterday, made a start in the garden under the trees in the shade as it was so hot. Lovely and cool today so I've been out nice and early to make the most of it. My goodness the ground is dry, just crumbles in my hands. Replanted a rose that had to be moved when the heat pump went in and watered it well in. I am surprised anything has survived my six weeks of neglect (including lack of water).

I've cast on the stitches for the front and managed five rows of ribbing last night. Still tricky with two dogs wanting my lap lol.

The Furry and Fluffy ones have kinda reached an agreement with sleeping arrangements on the bed thank goodness. The Fluffy One was beautifully groomed when she arrived, she is now filthy from being in the garden with me.

Will finish this cuppa then get a few jobs done in town before I get back into the garden for a bit.

Happy knitting :)

morning ladies :) Am halfway round the garden and have the compost wheelie bin chokka with prunings and weeds. Will start on the 'regualr' wheelie bin today :P

Our neighbours are moving so they came for tea last night (one less thing for them to worry about) so no knitting for me. We polished off a very nice bottle of wine.

I'll get some knitting done this evening, I need to get the jersey finished as it is getting chillier here now.

Happy knitting :)

kiwimade64 - 2015-04-03 07:58:00

Morning everyone. Happy Easter.

We need to get a lot of weeds taken from here too Kiwimade. Ill ask the lawn mowing man to do it.
Our neighbours left yesterday, I made them a blackberry and apple pie, and gave them a nice cold water melon to cool them down while unloading the truck.
I miss them already cos we normally hear the kids. And with it being the holidays we wont even have the kids sounds from the school either.

I made two pies and even if I say so myself they were the best ones Ive ever made. not too sweet, not too sour but with that twang at the end. Ill make some custard to go with our left over tonight.

Im to the head on the snake so should get that finished and pretty much sewn up.

Its lovely and cool at the mo... Even Missy is running around and enjoying it.

Happy Knitting and don't eat too much choccie

Morning ladies, woke to thick fog so made a cup of tea and headed back to bed - it's now cleared and is a lovely sunny day, but a bit cool, so the heat pump is on. How I wish our house got the sun more.

Yesterday I took the kingsize woolrest off our bed to the laundrette and it has come up lovely and fluffy for $6 - last year it was close to $40 to get it dry cleaned and it came back smelling nice but very flat. Then spent the rest of the day decuttering the little bedroom, washing the bedding (blankets and all) cleaning and generally tidying, and have almost finished that room. So today the place looks like a Chinese laundry and normally I never hang washing out on Good Friday (my Gran would be most upset). Then it's the bigger spare bedroom to do which doesn't need much then I can take it easy for a day and then tackle the rest of the house. Both vehicles still need washing, and I'm hoping to get them done soon.

I made some fruit bran muffins the other day and I have to admit they were the worst I've ever made, usually they are better after a couple of days, but nope. Not this time. I doubt even the birds will be interested.

Have fun everyone.
