I have been known to take my knitting to the playground when looking after small ones and stand around doing it but not when going for a walk perhaps we should start a new fashion or even a new type of sport - see how much knitting can be done in a given distance to walk lol.

I knit everywhere I can.
I remember years ago sitting in the front row of the audience at a country music club and the singer got so wrapped up in watching me crochet he lost his way in the song... lol
Used to knit or crochet in the car too, when I wasn't driving of course lol.

My sister in law has a travelling spinning wheel, she often takes to music clubs etc, shes another who cannot sit without something in her hands

No knitting for me last night, I was just too tired after stripping wallpaper. Will be sanding and painting today so doubt I will be knitting today as well.

The only place I take my knitting/crochet too is the hospital when I know there will be a long wait. And I don't see many knitting there either, so I do get a few stares and comments.

Better get moving, will pull my curtains back and face the day :) First time in four months we have curtains in the living room lol. Thank goodness for country living :P

Morning everyone.

Yeah it would be quite handy if we could add a month when we need it lol.

Wrist is ok so far today. Havent got the brace on yet, its impossible to use a spoon with it on lol.

Off to club again today. three other ladies will be joining me and we are going to clean out the shed to see what stock they have and reorganise it. We are a rebellious four. The young ones, lol 3 @ 65 and me. Found out yesterday some of the committee have been on for 27 years. They ask for suggestions for change but never implement them, cos "We have always done it this way"
They haven't come across me yet. It was on the agenda to tidy the shed yesterday. One of my ladies asked was it happening and they said noo it will have to wait. so I asked if we organised a group would they like us to do it. They could hardly say no in front of everyone.
And to top it off we made it today and they wont even know so cant be there, to do it "the Old way" lol.
Its the AGM next week so that should be interesting.

Got my can opener yesterday and it even worked lol...

Being out this morning will take care of not worrying about not knitting lol.

Well it's raining here, so I won't need to waste time and water watering the garden, so that's good. It's surprising how long it takes and how boring it is, and if I could knit and hold the hose at the same time, believe me I would. I would use the sprinkler but I would probably forget it and I think there are water restrictions, hand held hoses only.

Knit and natter this morning - will have to find something "no think" to do, otherwise I get home and find I frog or tink half what I've knitted!

Good luck with the shed sorting popeye, don't do your wrist any further damage whatever you do.

Afternoon everyone

Had an awesome morning. The girls wouldn't let me lift anything... We have done Half the shed.. All the work that has been done for the sales they have.
Everything is counted, and stored in bins with the info on the bins.
The yarn is sorted into cottons, and wool. And all been put in clear bags so it can be seen properly.
We still have the "Working " half of the shed to do. Where all the stuff for making things are stored.
Did just over 3 hours.
The girls are going to nominate me for President, a rapid rise.. but as they say the one we have threw it to the floor yesterday. And we need new ideas and people who cant be walked all over.
I feel confident enough, Ive been secretary, president and choir master in CWI. And treasurer of a country music club. And been on countless committees, so should be able to cope with this lot.

We have sold the wheelchair Again.. Hopefully pick up will be Saturday.

I am missing my knitting but handling all the stuff this morning was a good fix lol.

Very overcast and humid here. Wish it would rain.

morning ladies :) I'll finish painting the dining room today so might be able to get some knitting done in between coats of paint :D

Was shattered last night, sanded down the dining room, washed the kitchen/dining room ceiling and put two coats of paint on the dining room ceiling and window trims. This morning I can see where I missed a stroke with the roller lol. Oh well, will sort that out when I paint the kitchen ceiling on Sunday.

Morning everyone. Another lovely day out there

Ill have to stay indoors today... Very badly sunburnt.. oops.. And Im usually the one to nag people before they go in the sun.

Shopping this morning, just a small shop as we don't need much of anything really. And I have to take the yeast I got last week back. The use by date was 16th Feb, So was almost two weeks out when I got it. They will replace it for me.

Sorted the two and a bit folders of patterns out for CMA too. Now they are in order and labels on the folders.
Its really just lack of organisation down there. And too many thinking Oh we have always done it this way. Even if I only manage to get on the committee I will be pushing for some changes. Im sure a lot of them would love to help do things, just too scared to ask.

Right I best get moving, I have a couple of sales to wrap.

Morning all

Had a bit of rain overnight, don't think it was much but the place somehow looks cleaner and I am sure the plants will appreciate it too.

Off to walk into town - takes about an hour depending on how many gardens I stop to look at lol then will bus back, and that will be today's exercise out of the way. Need to get eyes for a hedgehog doorstop I'm making as am tired of the backdoor banging shut if I open the front one. A "helpful" man decided that the door needed fixing as it tended to stick but I was used to that and now it bangs shut all the time and annoys me a lot more than the sticking ever did.

arrrgg guess which idiot spilt the sealant paint on the floor and of course it had to miss the drop sheets. MrK came running in with an 'I told you so' and ended up with me telling him 'I don't need a f****** lecture, get rags!' I had rags thrown at me and he went off in a huff! Men!! All blown over now and the mess cleaned up although the dining room chairs will need sanding down and restaining. They needed that anyway and I was already thinking about recovering them. Now I just have to get the sealant out of my hair where it splashed. Oh happy happy jjoy joy lol.

Dining room is all finished except for some touch ups where I nudged the scotia with the roller so today I'm off to Tauranga with a friend to pick up a wedding cake. Tomorrow we have her son's wedding so it's all go lol. Better dig out my heels and some tidy clothes. Will be nice to wear something without paint on it!

Morning everyone.
I really did want to knit something yesterday, so I did 7 rows of 38 stitches, I kept my wrist against me and moved my left hand. Wont be able to do that now tho cos doing purl means more movement lol

Have to go do bloods this morning and pick up our pills I keep forgetting. And get a top up for my phone.

Will be nice to get all dressed up and enjoy the day Kiwimade. Havent been to a wedding for many longs... Think one of my friends in Mangakino must be the last one and they have been married 12 years in Septemeber lol.

Going to rain today, theres a lovely cool breeze.

Morning ladies, we've had a shower of rain this morning, but now it's just overcast. I've had another night of hardly any sleep so I'm getting a bit weary on it. Slept like a log night before last but last night woke at 3am and couldn't get back to sleep so read so of course now my eyes are sore.

Had a busy day yesterday so thought I would have slept well. I vacuumed all the carpets, washed the kitchen/dining room floor and then mowed the little lawn on the lounge level (the gardener does the rest) then went to town, and then a friend took me out to the boat so we could check the batteries, and run the motor. He was amazed that the motor started at the first turn of the key. That didn't surprise me once I knew the batteries were okay, but nobody has been near the boat for about 8 months. He's going to take me out again one morning and leave me there so I can scrub all the bird poo off the decks etc, and then when I'm ready he'll come and get me again. Pity I couldn't paint the masts and dive underneath her and rid her of all the mussels and oysters she's got growing on her. We will have to haul her out this winter and anti-foul her (really looking forward to that job - it's hard work and dirty). Oh and I managed to squash my thumb between the boat and the dinghy. Gosh it did hurt. I was half expecting to see my thumb floating away as fish bait. It's a bit red and swollen this morning but not sore thankfully.

That was a bit silly carolev, the things we do to ourselves eh?

Think I will go to Kerikeri this morning for some groceries, and then put my feet up and knit this afternoon.

We will also go to our Asian supermarket and buy some meat. Getting a bit sick of chicken and sausages.

morning ladies :) Will be lovely to finally be able to wear the ring popeye.

I'm off to help a friend set up chairs and tables for her son's wedding this afternoon and then off to the wedding later. It's pretty wet here so I suspect the service will be moved inside, shame really as the venue is just gorgeous for outdoor weddings. We picked the cake up yesterday and got it safely to the venue, was a nervous trip home lol.

It bucketed down with rain yesterday, and even though I know we needed it desperately, it could have held off until our gutters go up Tuesday lol.

I've almost finished the first sleeve for the jacket I'm knitting our grandy, will be good to finish it in time for the colder weather.

Ohh I know what its like travelling wedding cakes etc.. Glad it arrived safely. Its usually someone elses bad driving that can cause cake mishaps. Cutting off the car who really needs to stop slowly not quickly.

I was good and didn't buy any wool. To be honest I just couldn't be bothered Looking... (Am I Ill)? lol

Got some meat for the freezer, yay.

All sorted and put away so now I can finally unwind.

morning ladies :) Well the weather held off and the wedding was held outdoors. Was just beautiful :)

Today I will help with the tidy up then come home to do the paint touch ups and clean behind the stove so the walls are ready for painting.

I've finished one sleeve but then looked at one of the fronts and realised I had knitted it about six rows short so will need to undo it and add the rows. Thank goodness it is a small size! Now I know I was tired when I knitted it.

Moring everyone.

So pleased the weather stayed fine for the wedding Kiwimade... The one I mentioned above it stayed fine till we went to the hall for the reception and then it absolutely bucketed down. And it was a really old hall so you heard the rain.

Im officially over summer, its humid here today. Ive taken my brace and bandage off my wrist its even too hot for that. And Im over that too lol. so Im going to treat it carefully and not lift anything with my right hand.

Im going to knit a little later before I go stark raving mad. Ive learnt one thing, my patience which I normally have an abundance of, is stretched very thin when it comes to my hand being out of action. Thank god I didn't have a cast. Id be in the shed trying to get it off by now.

Have to pack some meat up that we got yesterday, we always manage to get schnitzel cheap and I love that crumbed with a salad. So that's tea tonight, once Ive crumbed it lol.

Morning ladies - oops, afternoon ladies! I decided that yesterday I would have a "lazy" day, then silly me decided to shorten a skirt which needed to be shortened from the waist. So remove waistband and zip, (invisible zip) then stitch the pintucks longer as the originals would be cut off, take in the side seams, re-insert the invisible zip and then re-attach the waistband. I'm happy with the job but I wouldn't have wanted to pay someone to do it. Thought I was never going to finish it, and I have another skirt which also needs to be shortened from the waist, but it doesn't have a waistband or pin tucks, just needs the zip taken out and the top cut off and then the zip re-inserted. Not sure if I can be bothered at the moment,

I've just got the second load of washing to put out and a third load to go in the machine (I'm impressed with how quiet my new machine is) I've put clean sheets on the beds and now I'm wondering what to do, sewing or gardening. Think the sewing might win.

Pleased the wedding was a success.

Be careful popeye, you don't want to make your wrist worse.

Afternoon all
Could you please send a bit of your rain down to Hawkes Bay, we don't seem to be able to get a decent bit for ages, had a few very light showers and although a bit of thunder and lightening yesterday no rain came with it, I'm over watering the garden!

Take care of that wrist Popeye, a bit of patience now may save a longer time of frustration, but yum re schnitzel haven't had it for ages, really should get some this week.

Good on you doing alterations Kuaka I hate doing them as they never turn out as I would like, in fact I do very little sewing these days only what I really have to do but so saying I have to make a cover for one of BiL's machines this week which will be a bit of a mission I'm thinking, will really have to think it out first as don't want to have to make 2 of the things.

Just finished dying 2 lots of sock wool, anyone who wants my knitted socks have to put up with my dying, this time I have planned to have stripes but I never know how it will knit up when dying it and one lot is rather bright so will probably have to be worn with boots (or dark glasses lol).
Nearly finished my second pair of socks hence the need for more wool dyed.
Had an email from my niece in Italy and the littler cross over cardy I knitted for her daughter has been quite a hit with the other mothers who seem to think it is rather unusual - it is very similar to a ballet cardy but done in a bright pink. I had originally knitted for another little girl so now have to do another one but it would have been far too big anyway so pleased that it fitted someone.

I'm sick of watering the garden too jayemtoo - it always seems like such a waste of time and effort, but without it the garden would just be all shrivelled up and dead. We had a light sprinkling of rain yesterday but not enough to do any good. I watered the vegies this morning and this afternoon they are all droopy again.

The trouble with having duck's disease, (bum too close to the ground) is that everything I buy has to be shortened. Mind you the 3/4 length jeans I bought a while back are just about ankle length so I've been wearing them like that!

The builder is coming today to help with the window, painter will be here soon and I'm going to prepare the kitchen for painting. Son will be home tomorrow and has said he will help - mind you I warned all family, if they visit, they get a paint brush in their hands lol. Our gutters go up tomorrow, could have used them Friday and in the wee hours Sunday with the torrential rain we had.

I unpicked - frogged? - front of the wee jacket I'm knitting and corrected the length and began the second sleeve yesterday so it will be finished soon.

Right, time to start emptying kitchen draws into big plastic bins and take things off walls. Kitchen won't take long to do, just fiddly with all the cutting in and pulling out the stove and fridge.

Morning everyone.
Im the one with Ducks disease in our family. I lost an inch post heart surgery. They say you never stand as straight as you did and they are right. At 5'6" in the shortest . My Sisters eldest son is very tall my numbers reversed at 6"5". he's been looking down on me since he was 11 lol. My twin and older brother both have 2-3 inches on me.

I did about 20 rows last night and it lifted my mood a lot. I was about a low as I could get.
My wrist is tired but I think that's from all the driving too. Not the knitting.

Was hoping to take the car for a warrant today but they are flat out and I couldn't get a loaner. So its booked in for Wednesday. I need it tomorrow for club.

We had rain through the night. The grass is lovely and green now. The lawn man is due today. And I hope he remembers his weed eater, he forgot it last time and its looking very tatty out there.

I will knit a little today. Doesn't need to be much to make me feel happy.

A friends mum had a bad stroke last week, they didn't think she would make it for a while but yesterday was improving. She is badly paralysed down her right side. She's a knitter so its not going to be easy for her. I hope she's a fighter and works to improve things. But she has pneumonia at the mo too which doesn't help.

popeye, I would consider 5' 6" quite tall as I'm barely 5'. The main worry for me is that my mum used to be taller than both my sister and I, (sister is 5' 1" or 2") and by the time she died she was only about 4' 9". She was told that the shorter you are to start with the more you will shrink as you age. I could end up a dwarf!

Sorry to hear about your friends mum, when Mr K had his strokes he was determined to get back to normal and he exercised every day and eventually was fine. He seems to have lost that determination now.

I couldn't believe my eyes this morning, I heard Mr K in the kitchen making a cup of tea, put the light on and looked at the clock - 10am. I must have been tired. I can't remember when I ever slept in that long.

Think a lazy day is called for. I was quite busy yesterday and tired by the afternoon, combination of so many sleepless nights and a busy day.

I'm quite a bit shorter than Popeye too - won't be keen to measure myself again I always put the same height on passport applications so hope they never actually measure us as we go through customs.

Good that you managed to catch up on at least some of your sleep Kuaka, I have had a couple of disturbed nights so should be due for a good sleep tonight.

Washing out and drying nicely, it was so warm yesterday that the wool I dyed at lunch time was completely dry by dinner time so I have started knitting one lot of it. Bright blue and green striped socks hope someone likes them when finished. On the whole I have no problem getting rid of my knitted socks to family and friends.

My brother and sister in law are both 5'2" and the smallest peoples I know.. Till now.
Good things come in small parcels as they say.

I know re the sleeping in. yesterday it was 8-50 when I woke up. Ive never slept that long , even post surgery.
I woke several times last night but went straight back to sleep thankfully.

No knitting today Ive got my brace back on , its doing it good. I only had it off for driving cos I didn't feel I was driving safely with it on.

The lawn is looking sooo much better.. edges done and the lose grass blown away.

morning ladies :) I'm 5'4 so in between you all lol.

Another day at the coalface here lol. The outside of the house is finished except for the steps and the painter is leaving that until the gutters go up today - the roofers will put scaffolding there and the paint will need at least a week to harden. The kitchen is all sanded down ready for painting and son is coming home for a few days. I'll put a paintbrush or sander in his hand - mrK is sanding the pump shed down so son can take over that.

MrK is knackered, he's been working like a 30-something year old. He keeps telling me I need to rest but I'm sure it is so he can rest without feeling guilty. He needs to get over the guilt and stop when he's tired.

Another week and it will all be done and dusted and I can get the sewing machine out to recover the chairs and cushions. Will make a nice change from the paintbrush!

No knitting today, well, maybe later this afternoon. Will see how things pan out.

Morning everyone.. Such sad news about your sander Kiwimade... They probably don't make them as good these days.. but put it clearly on your Birthday List or Christmas list.

Its a man thing re MrK telling you to stop so he can. MrP is different. he will throw a hissy fit, over nothing and then storm off to bed, just to have a rest without admitting it.

Off to CMA today, AGM day.. Will be interesting to see what happens.. Sometime through the night I counted how many things Ive been non the committee off,, it adds up 7 different things.

lol yes popeye, gave me a fright when it went bang! But I have a brand spanking new one for $40 (Mitre10) and it sands very well. Must admit, my old mouse sander had worked hard over the years too. Did all the sanding in our previous home.

Today is the day! The painter finishes the outside of the house and the gutters will also be finished this afternoon. The house is looking awesome, we are just thrilled with the way it has all come together. We have had people drive up our wee road.... stop... reverse... then drive passed slowly to have another look lol. So now I'm the 'last man standing' and need to get my bit of painting finished. Should all be done by early next week. MrK has his cataract op next week and I want it all done by then as he won't be able to help me lift anything.

Our son is home for a few days and he's a dab hand on the sander lol, he doesn't need a ladder or chair to reach the high places. Just stands there and sands the top of the walls! he's also going to sand down my outside chairs I've been trying to get to for weeks now. Yay for another pair of hands!

No knitting for me, fell asleep on the couch again lol. I've fixed the mistake I made on one of the fronts so now can concentrate on the second sleeve.

Morning ladies, I have to get cracking as I'm meeting our friend at 9am and he's going to take me out to the boat so I can scrub all the bird poo off the decks, clear the scuppers and take down the boom tent and hatch cover in case they get blown away in the cyclone which is forecast, and will have to put some sealant on the hatch. Bring home the covers which are starting to disintegrate and make some new ones. He's only going to drop me off and will come back for me later. I'm really looking forward to scrubbing the decks - yeah right!

So, I must make myself some lunch and a flask of coffee and get ready.

No Carolev, he hasn't been out of the house since 2nd or 3rd January. He's not very well at all, I really don't like leaving him here on his own but I don't have much choice.

Have a fab day Kuaka. One bonus is having some time to yourself while your doing the scrubbing. You wont be told your not doing it right. Make sure you have sunscreen on.

Yay Kiwimade having the extra tall hands on deck. I thought that the other day when you said about your son being tall. They have their uses eh lol.

Thank goodness Carole, we don't see MrPs kids, infact we would die of shock if they ever made contact. lol

Ohh I remember babies twin girls too at 26 weeks.. Soo tiny.. but I guess now that must be close to 29 years old now.

Have taken the car in for a warrant. Got a loaner, a 4 door rav 4, ours is a 2 door rav. so no worries about driving this one. HAd to go put some petrol in it tho, was on E for not really enough. MrP want to go to the oppy this morning so I had to make sure we had enough petrol.

I finished the second mitten last night. I felt like my hand was weakening. Feels good this morning . It was the hand not the wrist that felt weak. So I will do a little everyday to keep things working.
