Hells bells couldn't breath properly so off for oxygen today, then chest X-rays. I'm home again and now my nose is running lol. I came back laden with inhalers and Predizone but my GP rang tonight. Said my X-ray's clear so no Pneumonia but now I have to go back tomorrow if I don't go to the Hospital tonight. I have to improve my goodness. So if I disappear you'll know where I am. Must admit I don't like the smoke in winter either. I detest smoky washing. Crocheting a little pink blanket tonight but have to keep sterilising my hands, etc, ugh. makerealbany - 2015-06-15 20:43:00
Maybe you could just gently wash the blanket with a little disinfectant once it's finished? You are having a hard time with this 'flu. Did you have a 'flu shot this year? I have knitted the first sleeve of my cardy but doing it in turns with stock for the shop. Finished the sleeve and knitted a fairisle beanie last night. Won't be doing as much tonight as the staff at work have decided to go out for dinner tonight. The restaurant is in the inner city, not my favourite place to go, especially at night, with all the cranes and empty spaces etc, it's creepy. Road works are horrific at the moment as they are trying to get the CBD streets finished by the end of the month apparently. No idea how they can say that when they keeping doing the same spots over and over again. grizzly4 - 2015-06-16 06:56:00
How are you feeling? I hope something starts working for you soon. -2 here this morning, so a bit chilly, I would have loved to stay in bed. But of course that's not possible, I have the activities for the Women's Group to finish organising before they get there about 9.30. I'm racing from one thing to the next at present trying to keep up and I have to say, at this point the new spreadsheet is not helping at all. Luckily I didn't just pay the GST it said to without double checking as the figures don't match my cash book . Sigh. I will have to go back to the old system just to get the return in on time. Grrr technology. I hope today is warm and sunny for you and peaceful and quiet so you can get better. grizzly4 - 2015-06-17 06:48:00
Whoop whoop starting to improve dramatically. Thought I was a goner for awhile I kid you not. Yes I had the Flu Shot. I got a nasty virus from my grandson which developed into a Bacterial Infection of the upper respiratory tract . That triggered an Asthma attack which than developed rapidly into respiratory distress. I could hardly breath. All the medical attention that has been showered on me this past week was amazing . I have a wonderful Doctor. Taking it easy for awhile because I'm as weak as a kitten. makerealbany - 2015-06-17 20:05:00
Thank goodness you are feeling better, that sounded really scary. Now you are really going to have to look after yourself, aren't you? You don't want to be catching anything else from the kids when you are on the mend!! I only finished a pair of bootees last night, too tired to start something else but I got caught up with the programme on the wee boy with Cloves Syndrome. I didn't expect such a sad ending. grizzly4 - 2015-06-18 07:23:00
I'm in bed early tonight. Feeling shattered. Had a bad night, last night. I was warned I would spiral up and down for awhile. Walked K6 to school and then came home and had to rest for a bit. Thought I might start taking supplements again to try and build up my immune system. I'll have to do some research lol. makerealbany - 2015-06-18 20:21:00
You really are going to have to look after yourself now. S is really sick too. We think it might be campylobacta after eating chicken pizza the night before. Lucky B is with his Dad this week but he hasn't been well either apparently so now not so sure, maybe just a really nasty bug she has picked up. One of the women at her work gave her a hard time on the phone about time she has had off (one day is too much apparently) so S went in for a couple of hours yesterday afternoon. I was so angry with her as she hadn't stopped being sick at that point. Hopefully you both are feeling better this morning but you are right about rebuilding your immune system especially as it's only the beginning of the 'flu season. I had a whole day clear yesterday to work on the GST and actually only managed to spend 15 minutes on it!! Beyond a joke. I might bring it all home this weekend. grizzly4 - 2015-06-19 06:53:00
Poor S. She needs building up too. T has had a few bad days at work as she is not well either. I hope you left that work stuff at work and didn't take it home my girl. You work hard enough. Today was a good day for me I managed to change all the beds and wash and dry all the linen. Drove home about 3 as K was in after school care until T picked him up. I crocheted a pink and white blanket . Very pretty colours. I noticed on TM that prices of wool are high. Not that I need to buy any ha ha. I'm going to have a soak in a hot bath now. makerealbany - 2015-06-19 23:19:00
I'd be falling asleep in the bath and drowning at that time of night!!! LOL and nope, the accounts books are in my bag to be done over the weekend. LOL. Like you would have it done it differently. Ha! grizzly4 - 2015-06-20 10:23:00
Yes I refused to take home Financial stuff ho ho. I used Cash Manager and Payroll. I only had the programmes loaded on to two Computers and I always had a backup disc at home as well as at work. Just in case something happened. I did take home Funding Applications and all the other stuff though sigh. Yet when I retired from my Voluntary Work they coped ha ha. I bet they never took anything home. I never hear a word not a newsletter or anything even though I'm a Honarary Life Member. Makes you think doesn't it. You give and give and when you no longer can it seems you no longer matter. Very damaging for a Women's Protection and Empowerment Group. I'm not hurt but I am very disappointed. However a little bird told me they are now having problems with accountability issues. I'm not bailing anyone out this time. No way. makerealbany - 2015-06-20 16:20:00
It always happens when you are not feeling up to dealing with it as well, doesn't it? I had a lovely day with family yesterday involving lots of cooking as usual. Finished a baby beanie last night and one bootee. My hand is so sore kept waking me up during the night. It's been 4 months, for goodness sake, if it had been actually broken it might have been ok by now. grizzly4 - 2015-06-21 10:57:00
Oh boy, it's cold! And it's only zero not the -5 expected tomorrow! And the next day! High of 6 today and the shop will be freezing and probably no customers. I have 3 layers on already, including a merino layer and a jersey. LOL. Probably won't take my coat off at the shop either. Shortest day today so at least we are on the way up from here. Brrrrr! grizzly4 - 2015-06-22 06:49:00
It's raining here again. Visited my youngest granddaughter yesterday for an hour. Had to watch her from a distance as I didn't want her to catch my bug. Lovely visit never the less. She's becoming a little character and is so like her brother. Miss spending time with her. I crocheted a pink and white blanket to add to the pile. At lest it's motivating me ha ha. Car needs a warrant check. Can't believe 6 months has gone by. I could not handle the cold you have to. The cold air is no good for me. Your hand is taking a long time to heal. The cold won't be helping either. makerealbany - 2015-06-22 07:14:00
I'm handling the cold less well with every year. LOL. I emailed a complaint to the company that we bought my quad from on Sunday because it was taking so long to get the parts and fix it. The reply yesterday apologised and promised a $500 voucher from Allpower! Great you say? It must be a subsidiary company for them to be that generous and it's power tools etc! Yippee for I. but it's actually me that's not got a bike to ride for the last 4 weeks not him! good grief - MEN! No clues. Would have preferred a $500 credit for my power bill. LOL. or another dinner out. No knitting last night, I took so long to warm up after doing the groceries after work. However eventually I did start sewing up my cardy. Now I have to find 8mm circular needle to do the band, wools is too thick for all the stitches to fit on straight needle, darn it. grizzly4 - 2015-06-23 06:56:00
Great for I to get a voucher lol. Don't you need anything for crafts? A glue gun, a lady drill or your own set of screwdrivers, etc. I'm still coughing yuk. Trying to hold off going back to my GP. No knitting or crochet for me. Was so tired today kept resting between jobs. It was great drying weather after the chilly start though. I saw how cold it is down South brrr. makerealbany - 2015-06-23 23:20:00
Yep. Brrr is right. So many accidents on the road yesterday morning. I had to go to the postshop yesterday before my haircut and the mall carpark was covered in ice. Scary stuff. Same today at -3, next 2 mornings supposed to be -5! I can't imagine Twizel yesterday with -20 something!!! I wonder how many will turn up for Women's Group this morning and I have to go in early to warm the place up, not looking forward to the drive across town. Thought I'd try a bamboo circular needle to finish this cardy because it was only half the price of the others. LOL. I hope they work. I did staff training last night so was late home, didn't like tackling it when I was tired so knitted baby sox instead. Voucher arrived already but nothing as practical as hand tools LOL. Came with 2 beanies as well with their brand all over them. Giving mine to son S. I think. LOL. Hat hair is bad enough after wearing a helmet, let alone a beanie! grizzly4 - 2015-06-24 07:56:00
I always have hat hair in the winter ha ha. The older I get the less I care. Comfort and warmth are priorities ha ha. Got a WOF check this morning. Have to spend $350 on repairs. S will do it for me on Monday so that's sorted. Took K to swimming this afternoon and it was so hot in there I stripped down to a tee shirt. When we got outside I quickly put my jersey back on. Opened my daughters shed to get another dehumidifier out and there's a bloody rat in there so tomorrow I have to go and get rat poison. I'll have to go in and clean out , put the poison in and lock it up. Another terrible job sigh. The shed is rat proof so it got in when they most likely had the mower out. I always let the dogs run around when I mow and I leave the doors open to the shed to air it out. But C puts the dog away when he mows. Both dogs are real little terriers so the rats stay away lol. The neighbours are trying to get resource consent to add another house to their 4 flats which was an old house. They have cut down trees, hedges and pulled down old sheds so I guess the rats had to go somewhere. It's the first one I've seen evidence of on this property in 8 years. Ghastly things. Started another blanket. This weekend I have sewing to get done so I have three more to make before then. My feet are freezing. I just can't warm them up at night until I'm in bed. During the day they are hot. It's just another crazy thing ha ha. makerealbany - 2015-06-24 23:26:00
I'm the other way round, my feet are too hot in bed usually, although I have to say I haven't been kicking them out of the covers this past week. LOL. I'm wearing 2 pairs of socks inside my boots during the day. That's awful you get the job of cleaning out that shed. Shudder. I still haven't picked all those stitches up for the band on my cardy. One of my thumbs keeps splitting on the corner, I thought it had healed for the second time but sewing part of that cardy the other night split it again. It's a real nuisance and I use handcream 2-3 times a day. It's just another crazy thing, hah ha. LOL. grizzly4 - 2015-06-25 06:39:00
We are coming apart at the seams ha ha. Couldn't face the shed today so I didn't lol. Visitors coming and going today and tomorrow will be the same. By the time I finish the jobs it's time to walk to school for K6. This weekend my great grandson is 5. My goodness it's hard to believe. The teachers will have fun when he arrives at school mmmmm. He's still a real little monkey. I have two fingers that split. It is a nuisance when you are crafting. My hands are so dry. The hand cream just disappears sigh. makerealbany - 2015-06-25 23:05:00
Yep, having a real bad run lately, it seems. Stress isn't helping, I seem to have a handle on it and then something sets it off again. Really bad headaches up the back of my neck. Woke up with one this morning. I've forgotten what it feels like to take a sick day, just have to keep going. I will have B7 for the day tomorrow but I see on Facebook he was up throwing up at 1.30 this morning. Groan. He better be over it by tomorrow, last thing I need. Poor thing and I bet his Mum is knackered this morning, too. grizzly4 - 2015-06-26 07:14:00
Got through the week. Hooray. Long day ahead, B is here already and has tv on plus his tablet games! Poured with rain overnight and now it's -2 so hopefully it will be a sunny day. It would be lovely to get that band done on my cardy sitting in a sunny lounge. Although there is 7 here for lunch and possibly 9 for tea! So I'd better organise food as well. grizzly4 - 2015-06-27 07:05:00
Lousy weekend. Aching all over , headaches and still coughing. Feel like I just can't win lately sigh. Too darn sick to even knit or crochet. Drove up here and had to really concentrate on my driving. I'm off to bed. makerealbany - 2015-06-28 21:21:00
That doesn't sound good at all, you going back to the doctor today? I had a good weekend despite the stress at work. I played games with all 3 grandsons on Saturday and for once there was no arguments, very enjoyable. Cockrams are still trying to make up for not having my bike back to me so offered us a beach buggy to play with. LOL. Of course I. jumped at the chance to play with a new toy. We took that and his quad out with son S's bike and the wee one for the boys. Went to the river bank that we used to go to rather than the recreation park. So much more fun and I rode or drove for 3 hours non-stop! I. and S. took the buggy up a shingle hill ast full speed and became wedged at the top with all for wheels in mid air! Looked hilarious and lucky they had the walkie talkie with them to let me know where to find them. Took both bikes to pull it off backwards. Boy, we were tired when we got back and sore but the only lingering problem this morning is my left hand. But no worse than usual. The band is done on my cardy so just have to sew it up and I have started a layette for the shop. I hope you are feeling better this morning, it's been going on for awhile ,hopefully the doctor can help. Take care. grizzly4 - 2015-06-29 06:37:00
Oh goodness, you haven't been online. Are you ok, makerealbany? grizzly4 - 2015-06-30 07:43:00
I'm ok. Went to my GP. Went back to my daughters after being on the Nebulizer than had a coughing Spasm, couldn't breath, agony in chest and passed out. Frightened the hell out of my daughter. Anyway got carted off in an Ambulance to North Shore Hospital. Felt lousy hooked up to everything. Great medical staff on my visit. Anyway I had Nebulizer after Nebulizer plus heavy painkillers to get through the night. E C G and XRays somewhere in between. Today I finally got my diagnosis from the team. All my cardio and pulmonary tests are clear. So the infection is in my upper airway which is closing down when I cough too hard and go into spasms. They believe I have had whooping cough for a month. The antibiotics I first had does not affect the virus . You have to attack it with certain antibiotics in the early stages. Antibiotics have no effect now so I have a machine at home that I hired in order to come home ha ha. I have a box full of medication to use in the Nebulizer as well steroids, painkillers, Potassium, etc. It can last for up to 12 weeks. Anyway It's day by day. I'm having another drink and going to bed. makerealbany - 2015-06-30 23:17:00
That's dreadful to be going through all that. I had this gut feeling all was not well. I think there's been a couple of cases of Whooping cough in our local school, too. You don't hear of adults getting it much do you? Do you think the grandson you were looking after when you first got sick, had it too? I hope the 12 weeks take into account the weeks you've already had it!? It sounds as if the drink before bed needs to be a stiff brandy! grizzly4 - 2015-07-01 06:49:00
Lol might try that. Yes we think K6 had it as well as my daughter but they were treated with the appropriate antibiotic in the right timeframe. So they got better. Dr warned me to take the painkillers so I can deal with it. Trouble is you start hacking and can't stop so airways close and oxygen drops etc. I banged my darn head too when I passed out. They said you can break ribs from the coughing or even tear lungs. So as soon as I'm in trouble I turn the Nebulizer on ha ha. Knowing what the problem is has eased all my stress. When you're told it could be Pulmonary Desease or maybe Cardiac Related it scares the hell out if you. Today I will sit and crochet for awhile. I'm not shakey now so I can. Have to ring my Mum first she was so upset. My sisters had to go and stay with her until she knew I was alright. They didn't tell her until I was out of trouble but she was upset until I spoke to her. Poor Mum she's so far away. At lest with my sisters she can go and see them as she lives 2 minutes from the Hospital. The dogs are crazy. Hanging around me more than usual. Funny how sensitive your animals are aye they always know when something or someone is not right. makerealbany - 2015-07-01 10:58:00
Does K and your daughter have a different doctor that it was treated differently? Or did you not go to a doctor before it was too late? Although I'm sure you would have if their doctor had said what he/she was treating them for. I agree with your Mum, I'm worried for you, too. grizzly4 - 2015-07-02 06:45:00
Yes different GPS. I went to mine too late in the beginning. Ah well. I'm feeling less vulnerable now ha ha. Chest is very sore and I'm bruised everywhere but clear head. Yippee for that. Hope everything works out ok at your parents. Darn side effects of medication can be crippling. I'm losing weight but look pregnant. Not a good look at my age lol. Not that I care really. Predizone and steroids mix no doubt. More crocheting later today. I'm ignoring housework. makerealbany - 2015-07-02 10:47:00
Mum passed away so be out of touch for a few days. makerealbany - 2015-07-02 14:44:00
I am so sorry you have lost your Mum and on top of not being well. Please know that I am thinking of you and your family. Please, please take care of yourself. grizzly4 - 2015-07-03 09:15:00
I hope the weekend has gone well for you, I know I won't hear for awhile, but at least you know I'm thinking of you. grizzly4 - 2015-07-06 07:09:00
Thinking of you. I hope everything is going well with your family and that you are feeling better physically. grizzly4 - 2015-07-07 06:36:00
I hope you are staying warm! Snowy showers here for next 2 days. Daughter's audi blew up over weekend so off she went and bought a big Holden Commodore yesterday. Really?! LIke that's going to be any cheaper around town! No brains that girl. B10's birth father has wiped his hands of him, loudly and in the middle of B's league game. He's in arrears with his child support and under pressure from his wife who doesn't like B at all. Poor B is a bit of a mess at present. grizzly4 - 2015-07-08 06:28:00
Ok I'm over winter now. Bring on some sun! Trouble is to get sun at present we have to have huge frosts in the morning which makes getting to work rather scary with such early starts over the school holidays. Can't win, lol. 2 staff away tomorrow so have to do a 9 hour shift on the programme myself. That will be a shock to the system. grizzly4 - 2015-07-09 06:50:00
Not sure whether I'm looking forward to today or quite nervous. Either way it's going to be a long day. The children are there from 8.30 to 5.30 but at least we are going to the movies in the middle. LOL. How are you holding up, makerealbany? I hope your family is taking care of you and you are not over doing it trying to care for everyone else this week. Thinking of you. grizzly4 - 2015-07-10 06:47:00
This weekend I need to catch up on housework, feed family twice today, get newsletter out for shop members, finish some bootees for Monday...... and try and stay warm. I am dreaming about summer coming soon. I hope it's better for you in Rotorua, makeralbany. grizzly4 - 2015-07-11 06:48:00
Well my friend talk about Ahi Ka lol. You kept the home fires burning for me. Mum was found by my youngest sister . She had died at home where she wanted to be. It has been a full on week as you can imagine. I slept at mums which is 4 doors from Tamatekapua Wharenui in Ohinemutu so I was next door virtually. Having to use the Nebulizer every three hours made it impossible for me to sleep with the others as I should have done. Sometimes I couldn't get back for 4 hours and by then I was a cot case. We had mum in her Whare for the first night so I had that time. It was a very hard time for us all. One of my sons flew up from Wellington than drove me down that night. I had to go straight on the machine before I could even hug my sisters. I had a feeling when I was in hospital that We would lose someone. We have a couple of terminal people in our family. I never thought it would be my Mum. She seemed eternal. We cleaned out all her clothes, etc later in the week but left everything else in the Whare. My brother is moving back home. I'm so proud of the way we all worked co except one sister went a bit over the top and made things about her. I tried and tried with her but she is very stubborn. There is such a lot we had to get through especially the legal stuff. I was so happy to drive home last night. I just made it before I started to panic a bit. Honestly my chest finally stopped hurting on Wednesday but on Thursday morning I had another infection. So now I'm back to aching chest with all the coughing. I rested all day. I'll rest tomorrow and if I don't improve I'll go to the GP for antibiotics. Edited by makerealbany at 9:38 pm, Sat 11 Jul makerealbany - 2015-07-11 21:37:00
Welcome home! Lovely to hear from you, but it sounds like it was an extremely hard week for you, and being so unwell as well. It was a pretty outstanding effort to have coped and achieved as much as you have. I worried about the stress on top of the grief on top of being unwell. But you know me, always worrying. LOL. Those darn earthquakes have a lot to answer for , I was never this bad before then. ( I think). grizzly4 - 2015-07-12 17:05:00
Oh, good grief it's cold this morning! -5! I have increased my layers over the past couple of days and it helps once the sun comes up after 8am but keeping moving is the only thing that helps before then. Brrr! grizzly4 - 2015-07-13 06:20:00
It wasn't too bad here this morning. I went to my GP this afternoon for more meds. Feel so exhausted I'm going to bed. Maybe tomorrow I'll find some energy ha ha makerealbany - 2015-07-13 21:59:00
-4 this morning! and it's been raining overnight! It just doesn't get any better. LOL. I'm glad you went to the doctor, you deserve some respite from this. I love that your exhausted bedtime is our usual bed time on a late night. LO. Very interrupted sleep last night as Jinx, the ginger cat. kept trying to climb into the bed. She had been sick earlier so there was no way we wanted her in there! She is so persistent. grizzly4 - 2015-07-14 06:31:00
Cats are characters alright. Jed just ignores me now. I have started crocheting lap rugs . Mum had lots of unfinished projects. Lots of Peggy squares. I put one inthe centre and have crocheted around it. I want to do one for each of my siblings with Mums work in it. I also have a year to finish the Kakahu Mum was working on. Promised my Whanau Id have it ready for the Unveiling so that's a major. She had the feathers put aside and all the wool. One of my nieces was taught to knit and crochet by Mum so We gave her lots of wool and I brought back all the other wool and craft stuff, it's in my lounge, containers of it as I have no where else to put it. Like Mother like daughter. Ha ha makerealbany - 2015-07-14 19:58:00
Sounds like you are going to be busy..... oh that's right, you always are. LOL. I like the idea of the lap rugs, really nice touch. I'm crocheting dolls blankets to use up a bag of bits I've accumulated. How are you feeling? grizzly4 - 2015-07-15 06:49:00
Still feeling yuk . On the Nebulizer every two hours which is a nuisance lol. Hope the antibiotics kick in soon. I managed to finish a blanket Mum had started plus two doileys that needed a couple of rows. Tied in wool for two other lap rugs she had finished plus a lovely hat she had crocheted. I'm still finding treasures in her containers. Lovely things. My Whanau will be pleased. She had 150 Mokopuna. I'm just going to work on another crocheted blanket she was a third of the way through. Busy busy ha ha makerealbany - 2015-07-15 22:37:00
Your Mum would love to know they are all going to be finished. Then you have to decide who to give them to! You should feel the effects of anti-biotics after the third day shouldn't you? So maybe today is the day, I so hope so for you. I went to a meeting yesterday feeling ok about where things are at work at present and left feeling far worse. LOL. It was a meeting 6 local organisations had set up with a finance mentor and they came down on me really hard for not letting them know the pressure I have been under during the year we have been working together. No 1, I thought I had a handle on it and No 2 they had their own stuff they were dealing with they seemed far worse than mine. Oh well, we'll see hope it goes from here. At least I know they care, I guess. And I don't need sympathy as much as I need practical solutions. This mentor seems to think she has a lot to offer and I don't want to be let down. grizzly4 - 2015-07-16 07:00:00
I don't blame you. I would be wary after going to the Meeting feeling ok and leaving it feeling as you did. Actually you do not have to blab blah blah to other Organisations about your own Organisation. I would never discuss difficulties with other Organisations because I never wanted to give anyone else insight into those difficulties. It's truly amazing how some unscrupulous people can use information regardless of Confidentiality Agreements, etc. makerealbany - 2015-07-17 00:23:00
Tired? It was after midnight! I don't know how you stay up so late considering how busy you are. LOL. Everyone has been or still are sick with colds, kids and staff alike. Now I have one. Grrrr! No family tomorrow so will be able to take it easy although I'm booked in for more xrays on my hand at 9.30am. grizzly4 - 2015-07-17 06:59:00
Off to bed after this ha ha. I have been working on a black blanket which Mum had a centred red and white in. It's really thick and I use a big hook so I'm racing along. Feeling less tired today and coughing is easing. Whoop whoop. More X-rays on that hand. Hope it's healing inside okay. makerealbany - 2015-07-18 00:23:00
No family this weekend so after xray was done we went shopping for a new fridge/freezer , our one is 17 years old, a new vacuum cleaner, our one is 15 years old and a carpet cleaner, we usually hire one LOL. Chose a new lawn mower with voucher from our guilt ridden quad bike company. So quite a day really. We are both full of a head cold and now it's pouring with rain outside. I'm so pleased you are feeling a bit better. Whoop, whoop indeed says someone with 'whoop -ing' cough LOL. grizzly4 - 2015-07-18 19:12:00
