Yay have finished the knitting of the cardy.. Just have to sew up and pick up and knit the bands.
Not my preferred way as I don't feel I do it well enough. but Never the less it will be done.
I looked at buttons before and "Shock Horror" I had two sets that suited very well. One was plain and just a wee bit darker than the wool. The other are shank buttons. Blue on the back and a white front with blue petals showing through.
Asked MrP which he liked best and he chose the blue and white, which I preferred too. Since the cardy is just plain it will give it a little Oomph on the front.

Shall go now and sew it up. I enjoy that lol.

Have a good night everyone

Grrr! Well my previous message froze and then disappeared.

carolev - would you like to send some rain my way, I'm sick of watering the garden, it seems like such a waste of resources and time.

Yesterday I played yardage chicken and lost - I frogged and tinked and today I knitted. I just love these new terms I've learned recently.

I've had a busy day but won't bore you with that. Sounds incredible popeye that you managed to find buttons to suit - I always thought it was something like "the more buttons you have, the less likely you have the ones you need" so well done.

Right, time to sit and put feet up.

Happy knitting everyone

morning ladies :) I love the new terminology too kuaka, like a whole new language lol.

Well done on the buttons popeye, it's a bonus when you find what you need in your stash.

It's been raining off and on and boy have we needed it. My poor garden has been neglected badly over the last few weeks but I'm not superwoman and can't do everything. It can stop now though as we need the house painted lol.

The red jumper I knitted fitted Maddy perfectly, forgot to take a pic though. Was cool enough here yesterday for her to wear it and must admit, it did look cute. I've found a couple of jumper patterns to knit her as she is now going to Playcentre and needs warm winter clothes. She's getting bigger so I can't get a jumper out of 100 grams of wool anymore lol. Have a few 100g 'lots' so might just turn them into stripes or different coloured ribbing.

House is organised for the new carpet, just need to paint a couple of doorways into the kitchen/dining room where the carpet meets to lino. Will do that today, and strip wallpaper in the dining room before the new window sill goes in.

Knitting this afternoon if all goes to plan.

Happy knitting :)

Morning everyone.

Im chicken lol... I hate getting low on wool lol..

Yes Im soo pleased I managed to find the right buttons...

Have done the neck band. And almost finished one of the front bands... Very different, you pick up the stitches then stocking stitch it. And fold it in half so its double. Will make it very thick, at first I didn't like it and nearly undid it. but I figure since it wont ever be done up, it will hold the fronts nice and firmly. Will get it finished today. Sewing it up wont take long.

We have a heavy dew this morning. Lawn guys should be here soon.

Have a good day everyone

I managed to get some knitting in this afternoon! The first time in weeks I have sat down in the afternoon and knitted. Halfway up the back of a wee jacket for our grandy. I have to admit though, I was only able to knit as the builder was putting in the replacement windowsill and I couldn't work in the dining room while he was there.

Morning everyone.

Yay Kiwimade re the knitting.. Hope you enjoyed being able to sit and knit for a change.
Oh Carole hate that, when you are looking for something, end up cleaning and still don't have what you are looking for.

I have finished my cardy. Just a plain one for around the house really.. Maybe up to the local shops but not out to the city or anything.

afternoon ladies :) Lovely cardy popeye, such a pretty blue. And the buttons are gorgeous.

I was outside at first light washing down the house where the painter used stripper. Sprayed two lots of soapy water then water blasted. Was putting away the water blaster when the painter arrived at 7.30am to start his day. groceries, sandpaper and nails bought, lunch, then moving boxes of stuff for the carpet layer tomorrow.

And yes popeye, I enjoyed just sitting there lol. The Furry One loved it too, finally got to sit with someone for a bit lol.

Happy knitting :)

Gorgeous buttons popeye.

As many of you have said I've also been neglecting our new garden. Started off with a hiss and a roar before Christmas and was growing amazing lettuces in no time at all and now I just can't be bothered watering it.
I've been doing a marathon sort in the upstairs rooms and have culled pages out of maybe a few hundred magazines. We had a boot load for the recycling. So now I have to decide how to organize them all. I'm not sure why really cos I never really look at the cuttings again. It managed to carve some time away from the family though which is a good thing.
I'm not sure how I'll use the room but it's been good to have a clearout.

mndy1 - 2015-02-24 19:18:00
6712

morning ladies :) Today is the day lol, finally the new carpet goes down. I've carried and dragged the boxes to a corner in the dining room, just a few to put in the bathroom this morning. Hopefully I can post pics today, definitely tomorrow, to show you the changes. My next thing is to get the curtains up, will organise that today as well.

I finished the back of the wee jacket I'm knitting last night but fell asleep before I could cast on the fronts lol. It's just a plainly knitted jacket, am too tired at the moment to try anything too fancy.

Better move and get the dishes done, I need the bench space for the laptop, printer and other electronic stuff.

happy knitting :)

Morning everyone.
Yay Kiwimade re your carpet. Good that its a fine day too cos it smells really strong for a wee while. so you will want the windows open.

Well done mndy, Id get some clear files. Name them in categories and file away. but maybe you could decide your only having one file of each, so as to limit yourself, and cull some more.

Club was good yesterday, I was firm and wouldn't move any furniture. So much yakking going on I pulled a mitten undone in the end and just did the garter stitch and stopped. Then we played housie anyway so that was good.
Finished that one and did the second one to the end of the patter and have 8 rows of garter stitch to do. Ill do a scarf to go with it. Its in a greys and cream variegated. Knits up quite nice actually.

Believe it or not we have just finished breakfast, on a go slow today lol..

Have an awesome day everyone

You're doing better than me popeye, we haven't had breakfast yet, and it's knit and natter this morning, so I need to have breakfast, shower and be down there in less than an hour. Better get a into g.

afternoon girls. been very busy today had a lady come and help me sewing today , we made a quilt . I now need to go shopping and buy safety pins. and more wool of course on the fronts now of twins jumpers.

carolev - 2015-02-25 16:39:00
6716

morning ladies :) Well it took two lovely young men from 10.00am to 5.00pm without any breaks to put the carpet down yesterday but ommg we love it! So soft and squishy on our feet lol. The Furry One wasn't sure what they were doing but once it was down in the hallway, he was rolling on it and giving it his fur of approval. All last evening he was on the floor lol. I'm sure the novelty will wear off soon. The smell isn't too bad popeye, windows and doors are open all day everyday anyway. I'll post before and after pics when the day is a bit lighter and I can take new ones.

I did manage to start the front of the wee jacket I'm knitting, so I am slowly gaining more knitting time. Once all the boxes are unpacked I'll knit again in the afternoon after doing some prep work on the dining room/kitchen area.

Happy knitting :)

Morning everyone.
Ohh the softness of new carpet is lovely eh. Lol at the Furry one, he will be marking it as his own.
Been a lot of changes happening that's for sure.

I finished the mittens and did a scarf yesterday for CMA. Got both out of 100grms so was happy with that. It was wool originally from the warehouse that I got at the oppy. I got 3 50grms for $3, so have made a set for $2.
Back to squares today, and I need to start putting the mice together too.

Shopping this morning. If it wasn't for the fact that I need yeast and Marge Id have left it. Just don't feel in the mood to go. Unusual for me that's for sure.

Having a txt conversation with a long time friend, only she thought she had txt another Su and ended up getting me lol... We haven't talked for a while. but have known each other since we were four. lol

Have a good day everyone. I best go get this shopping done

The Furry one looks happy too.

Love it..

6722

morning ladies :) Thanks popeye, we love the colours too. Nice and calming. And yes, the Furry One is a very happy little dog. He just rolls on the carpet kicking his legs in the air lol. He's also spending more time on the floor which is great!

Today I am the painter's b**** cleaning the inside window frames (where the window sits inside the frame) and the outside edges of the windows so the painter can paint them. He painted one wall where there was the most primer yesterday as the primer can't be left for too long. OMG we love the colour, so pleased with it. Nice neutral earthy tones.

I finished a front of the wee jacket and started the next one yesterday, am pleased with it so far. Just a plain pattern until things settle here, don't want to concentrate too hard on a pattern when I could be asked to help outside.

Happy knitting :)

Morning everyone.

I am soo over February. So far Ive put me back out, ruined my mouth and now Ive strained or sprained my wrist lifting crates yesterday.. Ive taped it up and taking pain meds but its left me unable to even lift the milk bottle.

I can still knit tho, well I did last night..

I will add it took me three goes at starting a mitten. First had too large needles, then too small... third time lucky. I don't know where my head was lol

Have to pop up the road to get bananas, the ones at new world were very dark green yesterday, probably take a week to ripen. And I have one for my breakfast everyday.

HAve a good day everyone.. Stay safe

Morning everyone. A Lovely day out there. The cricket should be good.

We are only just getting breakfast, disgusting for us lol.

Got up thinking yay my wrist feels improved, amazing after just 45 mins it is aching again.
Ive managed to do one mitten. Will start another one later. but cant overdo it.

Was looking at my wool when I put some away from a couple of swaps and thought Man I have a lot of wool lol.. A lot of pretty variegated ones. So I might do another top down next.

Theres a striped blanket being crochet in our facebook groups. Such beautiful colours. I wish I could lay what I have out and make it nice like the one on fb.. Toys I can get the colours right quite easy, even the granny I did well. But doing the stripes would end up probably not liking it.

Hope all are well.. Have a good day.

**wanders off to see if cricket is on free tv today**

popeye333 - 2015-02-28 09:52:00
6726

morning ladies :) Just the dining room window frames (where the window sits), the hinged side, top and bottom and other side of the dining room windows to do and I will have done them all for the painter. I can't do anymore wallpaper stripping and prep work now until Tuesday as our daughter and her wee family are coming again this weekend and staying until Monday. BUT I can sand down and prepare the outside chairs for painting lol. So will do that after the windows. I've worked out I can do each bedroom over four days, so that's two weeks give or take a few days for surprises and the kitchen, dining room, entrance, loo and laundry over a week to ten days. So another month and the house will be painted from top to toe, inside and out. Certainly wasn't expecting to carry on with the painting but the rest of the house looks quite shabby now.

As for my knitting, I have 8 rows of the second front done lol. Oh well, it will get done, just not as quickly as usual. I bought some fabric to make new cushions for the couches so need to do that too. Am debating whether to put zips in or funky buttons.

Right-o, tea break over, better get those last windows done.

Happy knitting :)

That's the only thing about changing one room etc eh Kiwimade. It makes everything else look old.
It will be soo lovely and fresh going into winter.

Ive done all I will today. My wrist is swelling, so it obviously needs rest. Will take it to the drs if it gets any worse, on Monday. Will be covered by ACC thank goodness.

No cricket on poor mans tv.. Which is probably good cos I don't particularly like watching aussies playing kiwis. They play the man and cheat. lol.. Ill get my friend to update me. She is Australian, but is at the game with her Kiwi hubby .

Right a wee play on here then Ill try and rest this stupid thing

Morning everyone. Another Glorious day out there..

March already, and my Miss March is watching over us from the wall.

I didn't do any knitting yesterday. rested my wrist. Its not easy to sit and do nothing. but it did help.

I "watched" the cricket via the TM MB commentary team. It was a good game. They did an awesome job of keeping us up to date ball by ball.

Not a lot of plans today other than remaking beds, that should be fun.. lol NOT. But we can do one at a time and my wrist will be strapped well.

Have an Awesome day everyone

Morning ladies, I'm pretty sore today having done some gardening yesterday, dug over the little veg patch (just a quick dig as I'd already dug it and fertilised it) and then I planted (or maybe I sowed) a heap of dwarf beans, and planted half a dozen silverbeet plants and now my back is sore. So an easy day is called for I think.

It looks like being another awesome day. It was 29 degrees here yesterday. Long may it continue.

Going to sit out on the deck and knit for at least some of the day.

Hope everyone has an awesome day.

kuaka - 2015-03-01 10:10:00

Morning
Its so good to be home again although really enjoy visiting Tonga but boy was it hot and muggy this time of year. Also managed to go a whole week without internet and realized how much we have come to depend on it for news and connection with others.

Have managed to read back quite a few posts and seen how busy you all have been over past week. The cardy looks great Popeye and WOW Kiwi made re all your hard work with the renovations and the before and after photos are terrific and just love the photo of little Maddy on Facebook she has such a mischievous twinkly in her eyes.

Hope the wrist improves quickly Popeye and your back Kuaka although I am sure your garden will appreciate what you have done to it, my poor tomatoes look very pitiful after a week of neglect and no watering just hope at least a few will survive, but have several good sized melons on my "mystery" vines which have self sown themselves in a couple of places in the garden.

Did very little knitting while away as just too much sweat for the wool lol, but have nearly finished a pair of socks since getting home so catching up again.

jayemtoo - 2015-03-01 11:08:00
6732

Welcome Home Jayemtoo.. You get to travel a lot eh... Lucky thing.

Your garden will love you for the work you have done Kuaka. We are still picking the odd beans. And getting plenty of marble sized tomatoes.

Remaking beds and hanging washing out, isn't too good for my wrist. but Ill be resting it all afternoon now. '
Ill go through this cool toy book the head of CMA lent me. Its from the library, but we get them for a month here so Ive got it until Tuesday. some really cool patterns in it. I might scan a couple and print them out. But Ill have to be choosy as ink is not cheap.

Hope Kiwimade is enjoying her family being there

popeye333 - 2015-03-01 12:24:00
6733

afternoon ladies :) Welcome home jayemtoo, and thank you for the compliment. We're still going like mad on the house, making the most of the fine weather. Painter has at least another week to go, curtains come Tuesday and then the heat pump. And Maddy is as mischievous as she looks lol, she's a little whirlwind! We're expecting them any time now for the night.

Goodness kuaka, you've been busy but your garden will love you for it. You're way ahead of us in planting!

I hope your wrist is on the mend popeye, must be pretty frustrating!

I finished the second front so only the sleeves, collar and bands to do now. Won't take long, but I do have to add extra length as Maddy is quite tall for her age.

happy knitting :)

morning ladies :) Are you moving carole, or just helping someone move?

MrK has another cataract appointment today to meet the surgeon. We couldn't last time as the surgeon had emergency surgery so no working on the house for me. But I will empty out the dining room when we get home so I can begin prep work in there tomorrow.

I've started on the sleeves, still doing ribbing but it got so hot yesterday I put it down. Might take it with me today seeing as we will be waiting around a bit.

happy knitting :)

Morning everyone.

Off to the drs this morning. My wrist isn't improving despite resting it. Even eating my breakfast with a spoon hurts.

Hope all goes well today Kiwimade.

Will be nice to have a wee break in knitting to do a tiny jacket Carole.

I cant believe my needles have been idle since Friday. Its driving me potty.

Yesterday for the first time in 14 years my big Nephew spoke to me sort of on FB. Made my day. and Im hoping we can keep the lines open now. My mother at it again. I know your not meant to have favourites but Jay always has and will be. He's an Executive Chef in Australia, hes been honing around the world whenever the mood strikes him.

Have a good day all Ill report back at lunchtime

popeye, haven't you learned how to knit with your feet yet, bit remiss of you methinks! All jokes aside, sorry to hear you're on knitting "holiday" - whatever will you do instead?

morning ladies :) Oh buggar popeye, I know the 'not knitting' feeling and it does drive you nuts! Hopefully it will all be over quickly. Lovely you can have your ring resized and get to wear it.

Curtains are hung today, sooo excited! The room will look 'finished' if that makes sense. Just a couple of other little things to do like put the new door stop on and tighten a window latch. And MrK has some rimu 'capping' to do which he'll do after helping the painter.

Wallpaper stripping today so no knitting, so can you do extra for me as well carole lol.

happy knitting :)

kiwimade64 - 2015-03-03 07:20:00
6745

Morning everyone.
My wrist feels nicely rested today. The brace does its job and immobilises it thats for sure.
Wheelchair sale fell through. Total time wasting liar of a trader. MrP is not impressed. I cant blame him tho , he soo wants me wearing my ring, but that went on hold when the fridge died.

Off to club today so that fills half a day. Im getting a couple of patterns photo copied on my way, and buying another electric can opener. You should have seen both of us trying to do a can of smoked fish last night. So my hard work in paying my card will get a little hit. But we have canned peaches on our weetbix so need one that works.

Ohh new curtains, mine are nearly 8 years old already. I sewed them March/April after my heart surgery. I still love them as much as the day I found the fabric.

It is very remiss of me Kuaka lol... Maybe after a week I could do a few rows, as exercise for the wrist..

Carole your going to be busy doing all our knitting lol.. Just as well your sewing machine can work without attention eh lol.

HAve a good day everyone

popeye333 - 2015-03-03 08:08:00

Morning ladies, it's overcast and I wouldn't be surprised to see some rain, but it's not cold and it's not humid, so that's good.

Yesterday I gave the car a good going over, shampooed and then vacuumed the carpets. Why are carpets in cars so hard to keep clean. All those pesky totara leaves seem to get buried right in the carpet and you can't just vacuum them out, you have to pull them out with your fingers. Then I restacked the firewood, so that we have the dry stuff from last year at one end of the stack and now have room to get another load in which will have a chance to dry out properly while we use up last years, instead of dumping the new lot in front of the old stuff. My back isn't thanking me this morning, it's quite sore.

Popeye, I had a couple of sales last week, one I've heard nothing from, the other has sent their address. Neither have paid. Not a biggie, as only $20 total but it's a bit annoying, just waiting, waiting, waiting. At what point do you decide it's not going to happen, and if you email them do they get all uppity and have a hissy fit.

Treated myself to a kumihimo board last week and have been playing with that. It's quite fun to use and quite easy. Now have to decide what to actually make rather than just play with it. (Imagines everyone googling kumihimo!)

My afternoon out today, hope I manage to stay awake, didn't get to sleep till after 1am and was awake again at 5am so feeling a bit like a piece of chewed string right now.

Happy knitting everyone.
