Did he like his cake? A had to stick dinosaur figures on K'sCake at his request lol. Came home last night and my darn back was really crunching. Went to watch M7 and J4 play soccer this morning and by the time I got home I was really sore again. J cut his leg on a climbing rack on the field. It was a rusty piece that snagged him. A is the Coach so she got the big boys to take the frames away so the little ones wouldn't climb them. Went and saw the Secretary of the club and told him they had dangerous bits sticking out. He just stared at her and said it was the Parents responsibility to check equipment. Well did he get an earful from the outraged parents. Ha. Anyway she had to take J for a Tetnus shot and her Dr quickly gave him his preschool shots as well. J was not pleased and told his Mum and the Dr off. Told me " they stuck me with needles in both arms Nana ". I know just how he feels. J11 arrived today and is staying for a few days. He has to stay home from school because there have been cases of Measles and his mother has refused to immunise him. He told me he is fed up with it all. He and his cousins were the only ones not immunised . My son argued with her years ago but to no avail. My Granddaughter is in the city so she was not affected in Wellington and neither was her father. He came to Soccer this morning and chuckled away watching J4 running all over the place ignoring the ball. Ha ha. W said he went to a show his daughter was in and he really had to pay attention . Ha ha. He said it was "Deep and Meaningful" rolling his eyes. Well my painkillers have kicked in so I'm going to try and sleep. makerealbany - 2015-05-16 23:39:00
What a busy morning that was for all concerned. I feel for J11 now that he is aware of his parent's decisions and how it affects him. I guess she has told him her reasons why but he's nearly of an age to make the call himself, do you think? Or is it too late now? I'm not up with the shots they need to have any more. LOL. Yes, L loved his cake and the cars that were on it. Kept going back to the bench to look at it all evening till it was time to cut it. LOL. Looks like I'll be doing B6's next month. I've never done his as S. orders a flash one from the cake decorators but I may get the privilege this year. It's going to be Super heroes if I do. He is so into them. Too cold for me on the bike this morning so I'm being a wuss staying home and trying to shift this headache that has been on and off since Thursday. The men will take the boys out for an hour or so, so that L can try out his new helmet. I might bake, make soup and knit. grizzly4 - 2015-05-17 09:19:00
Yes it is hard for J11 as his parents never lived together and went out 3 times. So there has always been a difference of opinion. I slept for most of the day. Back is settling but my stomach hates the Antiflammes . Up at T's as she is off to work tomorrow. She is much better thank heavens. No knitting for me or anything else ha ha. Never mind it's a new week tomorrow. makerealbany - 2015-05-17 22:47:00
The boys thought it was too cold to go out!! LOL. And I think we have to try and exchange L's new helmet as he can put it on ok but getting it off is a different matter. Needs the next size up so I hope we can still get the same one, it is so cool. Like you say another week starting but I. is in bed sick. Too much playing in the mud yesterday, methinks. LOL. He should act his age! He will be 60 in March!! grizzly4 - 2015-05-18 07:34:00
Yes it most likely was the playing in the mud. J4 has had a reaction to his vaccines . Swollen and bruised arm, vomited all night and downright cranky. Poor A, no sleep and M has a sore throat. I took K to school, rang A to get her grocery list, picked up the 8 bags of groceries at Countdown in Orewa, drove home, gave A her shopping, waited while the poor girl had a shower, drove back to Orewa with J11 and finished the housework. Then I rested all afternoon. I can only be on my feet for 6 hours and then my back just won't support me. It's darn weird. I'll see how how I go for the rest of the week before I panic ha ha. J goes home tomorrow but he wants to go to a movie first but well see how I go. I cannot sit in a movie at the moment. I'm off to bed now as K will be awake at 6 no doubt. All of my young grandchildren are early birds thank goodness unlike the older ones. makerealbany - 2015-05-18 21:58:00
That may change as they older. LOL. I'm sorry to hear about your back, you've had a bad run lately with your leg and your back. My problem is my overly judgemental DIL. She really has a bee in her bonnet about my daughter S and her trying to find the right next partner. I am worried about S. and the fact she is so lonely that she makes some odd choices at times but I don't think she deserves to be judged. I think families should be even more caring and supportive when one of us is obviously struggling not slammed for the mistakes made during that time. Or am I just letting S off the hook as DIL says? grizzly4 - 2015-05-19 06:38:00
Got a bit of a fright looking at expenditure:income for last 12 months at work yesterday. I know last year was a bit out of the norm because of everything that happened but hadn't thought it was that bad all up. Definitely have to rethink a few things for this year or find a generous donor. LOL. grizzly4 - 2015-05-20 06:33:00
You are right. You do not have to agree with your children's choices but you can still support them. None of us are perfect and all of us at some stage in our lives will make mistakes. Being judgemental is not helpful. We are all guilty of that at different times especially when we are under stress. Not agreeing with your children's choices does not change the love you share makerealbany - 2015-05-20 21:20:00
Financial stuff sorted. Phew. I was beside myself wondering how I could have got it so wrong. In the end took a break, went for a drive, got a coffee and suddenly the answer came to me! LOL. Went back to the office, found what I was looking for and all is right with the world. Thank goodness! I was on such a high last night we went to the Lone Star for dinner at ate up big time. Not overly interested in eating today, although I do have their yummy coleslaw in a container for my lunch. LOL. grizzly4 - 2015-05-21 07:29:00
I haven't been to a Lone Star Restaurant for years. We have a new one just opened up just down the road. Might try it out. The boys love it. Congrats on getting the Financials sorted. Another nightmare over lol. Just another ho hum babysitting day for me ha ha. Just sitting knitting tonight. So peaceful. By the by I went to Spotlight the other day whilst the boys were in the movies. I could not believe the price of the wool. Picked up some more pieces for my Kiwiana Quilt on special so that was nice. I have been very careful about hoarding too much material ha ha. makerealbany - 2015-05-21 22:24:00
I haven't been to Spotlight in years! Mainly because the craft section is on a mezzanine floor which moves when people walk on it - gave me the creeps before the earthquakes.... grizzly4 - 2015-05-22 07:20:00
I'd want them to pay up too lol. I'm watching the Eurovision Contest and knitting but will be off to bed soon. Soccer early in the morning. I love the weekends now ha ha. I have a mouse grrr. Saw it so I have to set a trap. Jed has been going into A's because I am away Monday to Friday. He hasn't come over tonight. Probably annoyed with me. My poor cat. Even Puss A's cat hasn't come to visit. It's hard trying to please everyone which includes my cat. I do not like the Mezzanine floors either. makerealbany - 2015-05-22 22:51:00
First time I haven't gone 'YAHOO' driving away from work to start a holiday. Such a messy week and so much playing around in my head still. Hopefully I'm just tired as I did an extra 6 hours this week on top of all the dramas. Very cold here this morning, can't wait for the sun to rise, LOL. I finished one order last night and started on the bootees for the other one. Then just one more cardy to do. Looking forward to doing some of my patterns again. Maybe I'll even get to do some cross stitch this week! I haven't picked it up in 18 months!!! grizzly4 - 2015-05-23 07:25:00
Ha no Soccer. Fields were closed because it rained all night and is still raining. I cooked a curry in the slow cooker and lazed around all day. Knitting and watching movies. Looked after M7 and J4 for two hours for A so she could get her groceries. I'm nearly finished the last ( I sincerely Hooe ha ha ) Black Chunky Scarf to match a Beanie. I bought a ball of Moda Vera Frolic for myself. It has bits and bobs of other colours attached. I'm knitting a hat for myself with it. Felt like being whimsical ha ha. Normally $16 a ball but I got it for $10. Yah caught the mouse but I have set traps again just in case there are more. You never know. Horrid pests. makerealbany - 2015-05-23 23:39:00
Check out the patterns available on www.garnstudios.com the patterns are amazing and free to print off. I found some new projects for myself (when I have time) LOL. Had a lazy day yesterday, went for a long drive in the country for a couple of hours. It was lovely. Back in shop this morning but my week off from work has started so home at lunch time. Finished the bootees for the order, now on to last wee cardy. Bitterly cold wind this morning and raining. Winter has arrived! grizzly4 - 2015-05-25 07:13:00
I am going to check that site. Took K6 to the doctors after school because he still has a cough. He has to take Redipred for 5 days and use an inhaler. He's cheerful enough but tonight my throat was sore ugh. Finished that last set and did some beanies for Charity. I'm using all my odds up for a good cause ha ha. Quick to knit. makerealbany - 2015-05-26 00:05:00
Good for you? How is your leg and your back? I had a good day yesterday, pretty busy at the shop and the order was picked up within half an hour of me calling them. After the shop I did the groceries and then had coffee with S and B6 after school. I've done the back and half the first front of the last cardy for this other order. Still very cold down here. Brrrrr. Today I have some errands to run and a Whitcoulls voucher I got for Mother's Day to spend. Then home to knit in the warm. grizzly4 - 2015-05-26 06:53:00
And I did exactly that. LOL. I did add buying new gumboots for wearing on the bike. On to 2nd sleeve of the cardy, so going well. And I've started cleaning windows inside, will do the outside during the weekend when I. is home to help. There is so much glass in this house. LOL. grizzly4 - 2015-05-27 06:51:00
Lousy day and night. K6 coughed until 10 last night. I coughed until 12. Feeling better this morning. Headache and fever gone for both of us. I knitted my jolly hat but ran out of wool for last inch. So I'm going to undo it and put a plain black band on first and then use my fancy wool lol. I'm not buying another ball because it's too expensive. I have to pom-poms to make for the other two beanies to make. Even my sons like pom-poms on their hats ha ha. I avoid cleaning my windows at home now. As long as they are clean inside. The outside mess is a nightmare. Gully is getting wider but can't get heavy machinery in as too wet. Poor A is dealing with it all as usual Sil overseas. New neighbour has been ringing and texting every day because he doesn't like muddy water running down his driveway. EQC is going to see him to explain that nothing can be done yet and that as he is lower down all water runs downhill in the rain. They the experts have all agreed that the Water Company has to put a culvert in up on the road because the water flow is excessive under normal conditions. Council passes the buck of course grrrr. Pay your high rates but don't expect any services in the rural areas. I bid on some local Charity auctions and was amazed and delighted that I won 4 of them. So I have 4 pressies to put away. Bonus, bonus, bonus ha ha. A has bought M7 a wool loom so she will be over in a flash after Soccer this weekend. She made Loom and scarves, etc for all her dolls and teddy bears . She even made some for her Stuffed dragons. That girl takes after me ha ha. Very creative and always has her hands busy. makerealbany - 2015-05-27 08:23:00
Sorry to hear you haven't been well and what you are going through with that mud sounds dreadful. I'm having a bit of a weird week really. I'm enjoying the break but still having little things I have to d for work and for the shop so can't put them out of my mind at all. I'm finding it hard to keep warm especially if there's no sun and the wind is so bitter I haven't been out in the garden as planned. Went to Lincraft for a 'look' yesterday and came home with a lovely almost chunky wool and cardy pattern for myself. I so need to layer up to keep warm. I have a supervision client this morning and we meet in a local café so I'm looking forward to that even though it is kind of work but it will almost cover what I spent yesterday. LOL. grizzly4 - 2015-05-28 06:54:00
Have to take K to the GP again today. He is no better and neither am I sigh. Coughing all night again. My daughter T has requested little crocheted blankets, flannelette sheets, quilts and cardis for her Units Sleeping Babies. So I'm going to be really busy. They get donations but the bright colours are not appropriate for the Sleeping Babies. I have great stashs so I won't have to purchase materials. Some of them needed are like dolls sizes. So sad but the parents appreciate that their loved ones are nicely dressed and wrapped. I can't wait to get home tomorrow night and get started. Nice day here. Sunny and warming up yippee. Now I'm going to search for tiny cardi patterns. makerealbany - 2015-05-28 09:32:00
That's a lovely project to be involved in! Good on you and I hope you are feeling better today. I had a look at the Farmers half price clothing sale yesterday. Lots of stuff my size for a change but nothing jumped out and grabbed me. LOL. All the knitting orders are finished and I have restarted the matinee jacket with 226 stitches. Luckily the back and fronts are knitted in one go and I'm half way up to the armholes already. So much easier than the last time I did this pattern in a cast!! LOL. grizzly4 - 2015-05-29 06:59:00
I like doing the back and the fronts together. I prefer to do it without a cast as well ha ha. I can remember knitting when my arm was in a cast. I have been knitting a little blanket tonight. Got piles of wool sorted for other tiny things. I'm hoooome for the weekend. So nice and quiet ha ha. Even My little Moodle is tucked up in his bed fast asleep. The other dogs came over for a visit when I got home but after 5 mins T ran inside and curled up in his bed. He is pretty full on at my daughters running around with her little Griffon. makerealbany - 2015-05-29 22:36:00
Sounds very cosy! A cold grey day here today with no sun at all. I stayed in bed for the sun to come up but no luck finally got up at 9.20!!! grizzly4 - 2015-05-30 10:41:00
Got up yesterday and decided to weed a garden. Felt exhausted afterwards but it looked good ha ha. It's pouring again so inside jobs today . Little blankets are coming along nicely. So quick to do lol. I really need a haircut mmmmm. Might steel myself and go down the road. makerealbany - 2015-05-31 10:01:00
Yesterday was lovely and sunny, breakfast was interrupted by visitors so went out for early lunch once they had gone. Came back to pottering in garden, too. Likewise I felt the effects as well but well pleased with the effort. Daughter and her new bloke invited us to his place for dinner last night. Very pleasant and I saw him in a better light last night. LOL. Haven't been that impressed in the month they've been together. I have the end of month bookwork to do for the shop today and it's back to work for me tomorrow. A bit of an odd week off really. grizzly4 - 2015-06-01 10:47:00
K is back to school tomorrow. Thank heavens. I have so many personal tasks to get through this week. Mud and slush at home is driving everyone crazy sigh. We bath the dogs and then they get dirty again. Not weeding any other garden because it will all go to toast once they start digging up for pipes, etc. Knitting another blanket. I crocheted a couple. Much faster lol. makerealbany - 2015-06-01 21:43:00
I can only imagine how you are coping with the mud. Especially with kids and dogs. I finished a matinee jacket last night in record time with no cast, LOL. Not sure what I will start now. I have to get through a first day back at work yet. grizzly4 - 2015-06-02 06:24:00
My son tripped on the wet concrete, fell over and dislocated his shoulder. Has to go back to the Specialist tomorrow because the X-Ray showed how deformed it is outside of the joint and it looks like ligaments are torn. As if he hasn't got enough worry. Sigh. I didn't do any knitting tonight. Too busy stressing. I got all the washing dry as it was sunny this afternoon. makerealbany - 2015-06-02 21:41:00
Your poor son! DIL knocked her foot against the turtle tank stand as she walked past it on Sunday morning and broke a toe! There was a marathon through the city that morning and the traffic management was so bad it took them 2 hours to get to the hospital. It would normally take 20 minutes if that from their house. Thank good ness it wasn't more serious. So exhausted after first day back yesterday I just knitted up a pair of baby socks. grizzly4 - 2015-06-03 06:58:00
Knitted another pair of baby socks last night. Little bits to start building up my stock again at the shop. Very wet and windy here today, awful going out to garage to air off some towels in the dryer before. Very wintry. Had the plumber in at work yesterday to sort this leaky pipe out once and for all. Noticed another leak around the toilet so he fixed that as well -there went $266 AND THEN he brought my attention to a pipe that has started to rust where it disappears into the floor. Apparently now the toilet will have to come out again, part of the new floor taken up again so that this #@^* pipe can be replaced!!!!! Honestly I absolutely hate how one little maintenance thing moves on from one thing to another. Had to get the locksmith in the change the deadlocks on the other door at work as well yesterday but at least I managed to fix the computer stuff this time by talking it through with the Spark faults call centre. She wasn't the most patient person with me but at least it's fixed again (for the time being). What we need is someone to donate some untagged funding. LOL. It's so hard to get anything to do with maintaining our building. Sigh. I hope your stress is coming down a little, makerealbany. grizzly4 - 2015-06-04 07:03:00
Every time I take a step forward I get kicked back a couple. Lol. I know what you mean about little jobs becoming a major as well. I finally got my hair done yippee. Called around home to pick up a bag and the section was full of men in yellow raincoats. They had a mini digger with a scrapper on and were building the Silt wall down the bottom of the paddock to prevent slippage under the fence into the neighbours. All the slips and mud are now covered with plastic and pegged down . It's like something out of a movie. My Sil is back tonight but only for a week. He's off to see his mother who( really needs him as she's a wreck). She's not such a wreck that it stopped her from going for a week to Norfolk Island. It hasn't stopped her from socializing and gossiping. But "She needs him" other sons with no young children have offered to go and visit with her but no. She wants him. Couldn't care a less about the fact that the kids need to spend time with him, A is physically worn out and needs him to oversea the property stuff as well as give her a break. I can't understand how she can be so selfish and how he can be just as selfish. This will not end well. He's only here for half of the year and when he puts his mother before his children something is very wrong. I keep as positive as I can but my gut feeling is not good. Finished another blanket tonight and I'm off to bed. I sincerely pray tomorrow is a good day. makerealbany - 2015-06-04 22:09:00
I do for you, too! Poor A will be feeling abandoned completely if not for having you so close. Both your daughters have had MIL experiences! mind you my DIL might be having MIL nightmares if she doesn't pick up her game and support daughter S a bit more. It's B's 7th birthday next week and is paying for the kids to go to Inflatable World and then everyone coming back here for pot luck tea! Which means I'm cooking it as usual. DIL better not sit there sucking lemons all day or else. If you know what I mean. By the way S has said she has had a pain free fortnight since starting this new pill. She is over the moon, that's been the longest time for years. grizzly4 - 2015-06-05 06:55:00
I finally got to play with my new spreadsheet yesterday. LOL. Sure takes a while inputting all the information so will see how much time it will actually save me in the long run. Won't be so bad if it just spits out the reports I need afterward. But certainly won't be in time for meeting this month. grizzly4 - 2015-06-06 06:52:00
That is great about S. Give DIL jobs to do so she can't just sit lol. I woke up yesterday with a sore throat and coughed all day. Darn Immune system goes into overdrive when I am under stress. So I sewed 8 little sheets and did some knitting. Felt better in the afternoon so baked some Apple Muffins and and Apple Pie so the Apples weren't tossed into the Worm Farm ha ha. Knitting a little lemon blanket. I started knitting that one last night and fell asleep in my chair.zzzzzzz I've got two more sheets I want to finish so T has some for work tomorrow. makerealbany - 2015-06-07 08:52:00
I had just got up as well when you posted your message. LOL. Sun is shining today and I have so many things to get done. I started my cardy yesterday. It's in a Lincraft bulky wool so knitting up quite fast, almost finished the back. I can't wait to a cuddly cardy for those grey days. I totally agree with what your Mum says but then, I'm the last one to talk. grizzly4 - 2015-06-07 10:23:00
Everything got done with I's help but was certainly a rush. I have a few wee things to put in the shop this morning and have nearl finished the front of my cardy. Having to go back on Voltaren for my hand though, not sure whether it's the colder weather or all the knitting but I haven't had a pain free week since the accident on 6 Feb. So much for being ok within a month. How's your cough, hopefully better but they do linger don't they? grizzly4 - 2015-06-08 06:47:00
This is the wee jacket I did last week. https://trademe.tmcdn.co.nz/photoserver/full/388600462.jpg grizzly4 - 2015-06-08 07:01:00
That's so pretty. My cough is now in my chest so I'm going back to GP tomorrow. Also have to take K back as he's had a relapse and is coughing badly sigh. Knitting another little Lemon Blanket. So tiny but on fine needles. You have most likely got arthritis in that hand now. My joints in my hands look so darn ugly ugh but at lest they are still working ha ha. Lovely day but cold again tonight. makerealbany - 2015-06-08 20:58:00
You take care of that cough, it's bad that it's getting worse. Do you think all that mud extra is making your houses a bit damp? grizzly4 - 2015-06-09 06:45:00
More Antibiotics for both K6 and myself. What a mission today lol. K6 had a fever last night as well. Yes I live larger needles as well ho ho. Did so knitting tonight for Charity. Have to rest more so my GP says so will try and take it easy tomorrow. Have to keep K quiet. What an impossible task hat will be . Ha ha. makerealbany - 2015-06-10 00:33:00
I have a very seedy tummy myself this morning. I think I have a touch of vertigo causing it but can't stay home till it passes as I have the Women's Group this morning to take to mini-golf and a volunteer performance appraisal to complete this afternoon. It better just sort itself out, quick smart! But all I want to do is curl up on the couch with a blanket. I had a break from my cardy last night and started a dolls dress for a change. grizzly4 - 2015-06-10 06:58:00
Hope your tummy settled down . K slept well last night but I woke up at 1 and could not stop coughing until 4. I even drank cough medicine which I hate ha ha. K was coughing during the day though. I had so much washing to do and managed to get it done and dry. I really wanted to curl up with a blanket as well but not likely with K to mind. Poor little guy is fed up with being at home. I'm still knitting little Blankets. makerealbany - 2015-06-10 23:02:00
You'll be doing those blankets in your sleep soon. LOL. I felt better by the time I got to work thank goodness and it hasn't come back overnight. Coughing all night is awful, I feel for you. I suppose you won't catch up on some sleep today either if K is around. You must be exhausted not being well and still doing the childcare thing. B's 7th birthday party is here on Saturday but it's only family. The kids are going to Inflatable World in the afternoon and then back here for food (of course). Trouble is B is here on Saturday morning as his Mum is working but that's the only time I have to do his cake. Won't be a surprise for him at all. grizzly4 - 2015-06-11 06:57:00
Maybe he can help do his cake. M7, K6 and J4 all want to help decorate their cakes now lol. They then announce to people what they did on their cakes. Yes I'm sure I can knit the blankets in my sleep when I have it ha ha. I'm really fed up with this cough now. My ribs and back are aching from the coughing. I dragged myself around this morning after no sleep again last night. K6 was worried. He is getting better thank heavens. He kept fussing, trying to put a blanket on my knees, getting me drinks of water, even made me a fruit platter ha ha. He fed the dogs and let them outside for a run. Told me he was off to school tomorrow. He's still not well enough to go so he'll be a bit annoyed tomorrow. He has to go back to his GP before he can go to school anyway. makerealbany - 2015-06-11 22:58:00
That's so nice he's looking after you! Sounds like you need it. I could have had a few more hours in bed myself this morning. Yesterday was pretty tiring, a big meeting first thing then a chance coffee with someone I wanted to thank for her support ended in full on counselling session because of a dreadful situation at her home. First time she's talked about it with anyone so hopefully she can get to the point of making decisions soon that will benefit her as well as the children. Will definitely be wrapping some more support around her from now on. grizzly4 - 2015-06-12 07:00:00
B has just arrived and like you I'm really not up for it at all after being ill all night. Then our ginger cat attacked me in bed at some point and I have cuts and stab wounds on one finger. Goodness knows what she thought she was doing. Completely senile now I think. Had to get up early to wrap B's present before he got here and I still have the cake to do. I'm putting last night down to dodgy pumpkin soup for tea at the Mall. I couldn't get the taste of it right and thought it kept needing salt. Never again, I will stick to my own from now on. But I still have today to get through. grizzly4 - 2015-06-13 09:23:00
Yes you have to be careful eating out in Malls. I'm still as sick as a dog as my dear Dad used to say. When I cough it feels like my head is going to blow up. Worst virus ever. Naughty cat. They get like that at times. makerealbany - 2015-06-13 21:55:00
I am so sorry you are still not well, that cough sounds really nasty. Mine is not being helped by the neighbours smoke from their log fire flue. No matter how the wind blows that darn smoke is trapped between my house and the fence, right where my clothesline is. Their flue was replaced after the earthquake so I would have thought it would have been a good one but it is driving me nuts. Ecan is advertising on the radio every day that there should be no visible smoke at all and that they need to be notified if there is. Apparently it's a $750 fine if I call them about it which seems mean but I'm over it now. My lovely pj's dried in the sun yesterday but stunk of smoke. This is NZ we should be able to dry our clothes outside, surely. grizzly4 - 2015-06-14 11:54:00
I ended up using the dryer. Sigh. I have a sore back this morning after spending an hour in the garden cutting stuff back for winter. I am so unfit. I. spent the day in the garage repairing my old bike ready to sell. If we keep as a spare B10 will keep on at us to let him ride it and at 150cc it's too much for him. The recommended age for the 70cc we let them ride is 12 but they are supervised within boundaries with good helmets, but B10 wants to do the stuff his Dad and Poppa do so there's no way I'm letting him on a bigger bike. We haven't been out for a few weeks now as my new bike is getting a new carburettor under warranty and it has to come from Korea. It does ,mean we get other stuff done, though, especially if we don't go out for coffee either. grizzly4 - 2015-06-15 06:43:00
